Hey, you.
Speaker AYou're tuned in to the Skirts up show with Samantha and Melissa.
Speaker BJoin our mission to normalize failure but still uncover the positives at every twist and turn.
Speaker ASkirts up, but keep your panties on.
Speaker AGood morning, Skirts Up Squad.
Speaker AIt's Samantha.
Speaker CGood morning, skirts upstart.
Speaker AIt's in my.
Speaker CBlah blah.
Speaker ANah.
Speaker AThat's right.
Speaker AIt's Nora.
Speaker CNoah.
Speaker CSo cute.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker ASo Melissa was un.
Speaker ANot able to record with us this morning.
Speaker AAnd that is okay because we were supposed to record last night, but in the words of Ross Geller, I fell asleep, so that didn't happen.
Speaker ABut that's okay.
Speaker AThat's my fail because we're doing it now and I have a cute little side chick.
Speaker AI said.
Speaker AI said side chick.
Speaker ABut that's not a lie.
Speaker AYou're a little chickadee.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AYou're not a chickadee.
Speaker AHey, Nora, how old are you?
Speaker CThree.
Speaker AThat's right.
Speaker AYou are three.
Speaker AWhen's your birthday?
Speaker COctober.
Speaker AIn October?
Speaker AThat is right.
Speaker AAnd how old are you gonna be?
Speaker C4.
Speaker A4.
Speaker AAre you excited?
Speaker AYou are.
Speaker AYou're exciting.
Speaker ABut I'm gonna be upside down.
Speaker AYou are upside down.
Speaker AI'm going to be sad.
Speaker CWhy?
Speaker ABecause I want you to be my little baby forever.
Speaker ABig hug then.
Speaker AIt was a big hug.
Speaker AI love you so much, Nora.
Speaker ALet's keep this short today.
Speaker AAre you.
Speaker ADo you think we're ready to pass it on to our special guest?
Speaker AYes.
Speaker CGoodbye.
Speaker AToday we have with us our friend, Kelly Kingsland.
Speaker AShe is an energetic mentor, a Reiki master, a ordained metaphysical minister, and she just recently became certified as a hypnotherapist.
Speaker ADid I say all that right?
Speaker CYeah, that's right.
Speaker CYou did.
Speaker CGood job.
Speaker CWelcome.
Speaker CThank you so much for having us.
Speaker CYeah, yeah, of course.
Speaker CLooking forward to it.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BTell us a little bit about yourself and your journey.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker COh, my goodness.
Speaker CSo back in.
Speaker CIt's been a long one.
Speaker CI've been doing Reiki and such since 2011, so 14 years now.
Speaker CAnd my original introduction to Reiki was kind of a weird story.
Speaker CI had gone to a place in Lilydale that I know there was some interest in.
Speaker CAnd it's a spiritualist community.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CSo everybody that lives there is a member of the spiritualist church.
Speaker CAnd they are either healers or mediums.
Speaker CAnd I had gone for a class, a weekend long class.
Speaker CIt was called Spiritual Intensive.
Speaker CSo I was doing the spiritualist form of energy healing on somebody.
Speaker CAnd gentlemen I'd never met before.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CCause these are all strangers.
Speaker CI'm there by myself.
Speaker CI didn't know a Soul.
Speaker CThat's bold.
Speaker CAnd he asked me if I did Reiki, and I said, no, I don't even know what it is.
Speaker CAnd he said, well, I'm a Reiki master, and if you don't do Reiki, you should.
Speaker CSo I said, okay, sounds good, right?
Speaker CWhatever.
Speaker BWho is this guy?
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CWent home, you know, didn't think about it again.
Speaker CAnd then a couple months later, I guess I was online and I looked on Google, because Google knows everything.
Speaker CWe were just talking about that.
Speaker CI searched Reiki in the city I live in and went down to.
Speaker CI think it was the second.
Speaker CI never go for the first listing because I figure they're always paid, right.
Speaker CSo I went down to this.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo I went down to the next one, and I clicked on it, and, you know, this picture came up of a woman, and she looked, you know, very nice and very pleasant.
Speaker CI thought, oh, okay.
Speaker CSo I scrolled down and.
Speaker COkay, Reiki Level 1, Reiki Level 2.
Speaker CReiki Master, perfect.
Speaker CAll the things I want.
Speaker CShe also taught meditation, things like that.
Speaker CAnd I reached.
Speaker CI scrolled down further, and I was kind of like, that can't be right.
Speaker CSo I phoned her because, you know, back in 2011, we didn't really text all that much yet.
Speaker CSo I called her, and I was like, just out of curiosity, this is going to sound like a really weird question, but is this the right address?
Speaker CShe said, yeah.
Speaker CI said, okay, I live across the street from you.
Speaker COh, wow.
Speaker CAnd she kind of was like, oh.
Speaker CI said, yeah, like, I can see your house from my front door.
Speaker CI had never met her.
Speaker CI'd lived here for, like, 18 years at the time.
Speaker CHoly cow.
Speaker CAnd had never met her.
Speaker CAnd it was funny because once I started going to her house for my training, even her car had a license plate that said Reiki 1.
Speaker CAnd I just had never noticed it before.
Speaker CAnd it's funny because when you do your level one training, there is a proverb that says, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
Speaker CSo I was kind of like, there you go.
Speaker CYou know, that's all about intention, synchronicity.
Speaker CYou know, like, the things happen for the weirdest reasons.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CI don't know if you.
Speaker BThat I am a level two.
Speaker BI'm not anywhere near a master, but I did go and do some courses, and it was kind of similar what happened to me.
Speaker BLike, I used to work with horses, and I.
Speaker BThere's a certain kind of energy work that you can do with them.
Speaker BSo similar to Reiki, and I. I didn't know anything about Reiki, but I knew about the Masterson method and I used to work with horses to help them release some, like, bad emotions or like some pains and some stress and tightness, and it was all just energy from the hands and one.
Speaker BSo about a couple years ago, my friend Melissa called me and says, you have to do this course with me.
Speaker BAnd I was like, what?
Speaker BAnd she says, it's Reiki.
Speaker BAnd I was like, I've heard of Reiki, but I don't really know what it is.
Speaker BShe's like, you would.
Speaker BIt's for you.
Speaker BIt's made for you.
Speaker BAnd I was like, I don't even know.
Speaker BAnd then I went out there and I did it with her and loved it, but I felt like it came to me.
Speaker BI didn't seek it out.
Speaker BLike, it was just.
Speaker BIt was time, I guess.
Speaker AI actually am super uneducated in Reiki.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker BYeah, let's do it.
Speaker BLet's.
Speaker BYou're not only you, like, there's lots of people.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ASo maybe do you mind kind of explaining to us exactly, like what Reiki looks like and what the healing aspects of it?
Speaker ABecause I, I feel like it's a healing aspect.
Speaker CYeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker CThis is what you know when you see those posts, what could you talk about for an hour?
Speaker CThis is it.
Speaker ALove it.
Speaker BWonderful.
Speaker BLet's do it.
Speaker AIs this like your.
Speaker AYour biggest passion out of all of your titles, are you most.
Speaker CYou know what, they're all intertwined.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker CLike, everything is energy.
Speaker CSo Reiki was my introduction.
Speaker CI actually know someone who made a joke and called it the gateway drug.
Speaker CBecause as soon as you learn that, you start learning everything else.
Speaker CAnd the metaphysical minister.
Speaker CWell, metaphysical is all about energy as well.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CAnd then I work with Feminine Energetics.
Speaker CYep.
Speaker CSo it was my start.
Speaker BI've never heard that before.
Speaker BSorry.
Speaker CFeminine Energetics.
Speaker BI know we're going to talk about Reiki, but Yes.
Speaker BI have never heard that term Feminine energetics.
Speaker BWhat is that?
Speaker BJust real quick.
Speaker AWe're learning all the things, guys.
Speaker CYeah, no kidding.
Speaker CFeminine Energetics is based on the concept fact that feminine and masculine energies are two very different things.
Speaker COkay, okay.
Speaker CSo feminine energy is very much based on intuition, teamwork, kind of sitting back to.
Speaker CTo allow things to happen.
Speaker CMale energy is more push, hustle, work independently, like the more forceful type of energy.
Speaker CAnd I work with women, specifically high achieving women who are either like corporate or business owners, and they're stuck in the, I like to call it the grind and the hustle.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CSo they're trying to work like their male counterparts.
Speaker CBut in doing so, they're starting to burn out.
Speaker CAnd the burnout rates in women in corporate are 58% versus 47% in men.
Speaker BInteresting.
Speaker CWhereas they can still have the same level of success, but by using the energies that come to them naturally.
Speaker AHuh.
Speaker AI never would have thought of that.
Speaker BAnd we'll have to delve deeper into that for sure.
Speaker BI don't know if you'd be willing to come back, but we can talk.
Speaker BThank you for explaining that.
Speaker AThat's a. Yeah, that's.
Speaker AThat actually does put it into perspective because you're right.
Speaker ALike we always say that most of the industries that we work it really hard in are male dominated industries.
Speaker AAnd it's really easy, as you said, because we are more emotional and intuitive to pick up on their energy and their work habits to where we're trying to morph into their ways as opposed to playing on our own strengths and bringing people.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker AYeah, I never would have thought of that.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd if you're in like a higher level corporate, chances are you're going to be surrounded by men.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CSo to be.
Speaker CA lot of women don't understand that they don't have to work like them.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CYou don't have to do a 60 hour week and you don't have to be aggressive.
Speaker CYou can get things done by using what you have and then it's not as exhausting for you because it's something that comes naturally.
Speaker AThat.
Speaker AThat could be a whole episode.
Speaker AI love that.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BIt, to me, it kind of reminds me of the Yin and Yang energy maybe.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CIt's exactly that.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BThat's, that's.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI would love to discuss more into that.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker AThat would be very valuable to one of our listeners.
Speaker BHow does that, like you said, it's all intertwined.
Speaker BSo how does that kind of wrap into to Reiki then?
Speaker CBecause A, the energetic base and B, when I work with my clients, I actually help them learn the chakras and how to recognize when they become blocked.
Speaker CBecause again, energy.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CIf your throat chakra is blocked, you're not going to be able to speak up for yourself.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CHow many women sit there and say, well, I'm just not going to say anything.
Speaker CNo one wants to hear what I have to say.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CWhen you get past that, then you're contributing more and making your opinion known, which gives you a stronger standing.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CSo it all intertwines together.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BSo just for like those who aren't really sure what Reiki is I just kind of want to like.
Speaker BAnd you will correct me, I hope, please, Kelly.
Speaker BBut just kind of a quick overview.
Speaker BReiki is the idea of like a universal energy, right?
Speaker BAnd we can use it.
Speaker BWe want it to be able to flow through our bodies freely, if I understand.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker BAnd our chakras are different points in our bodies that can, like you said, be blocked and stifle the flow of this pure energy, which can be used for healing.
Speaker BAnd.
Speaker AOkay, so what are the chakras?
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker CSo first I'm going to tell you a little analogy that I tend to use with my students.
Speaker CIf you're picturing what it would be like to have a block chakra for people that aren't really into the whole energetic thing and need a more tactile idea, picture a sink drain, okay.
Speaker CAnd it has a clog.
Speaker CThe water can get down this far and then it stops.
Speaker COr the water can back up this far and then it stops.
Speaker CSo in balancing your chakras, you're getting rid of this clog so that everything is flowing the way that it should.
Speaker COkay, so there's seven main chakras in the body.
Speaker CThe main.
Speaker CWell, there's actually hundreds.
Speaker CBut the seven main ones run from the base of the spine to the top of the head.
Speaker CAnd that is your main energetic channel.
Speaker CSo at the very bottom, at the base of your spine, right at your tailbone, is the root.
Speaker CNow, every chakra is attached to emotions, events, colors.
Speaker CSo the root chakra is very much based in security.
Speaker CIt's, you know, like infant development type thing.
Speaker CThe need for security, the need for, you know, warmth and family and love and, you know, knowing that you're going to be fed and that you have a roof over your head.
Speaker CLike, it's very much the.
Speaker CThe basic necessities that we need.
Speaker CAnd people that tend to have blocked shock or blocked roots are ones that have, you know, they've moved around a lot, so they've never really had a chance to settle and develop a community.
Speaker CThey've been through upheavals in their childhood which have made them feel unsafe.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CThings like that.
Speaker CThe next one, and the color for that is red, by the way.
Speaker CThe next one up is just about a couple inches under the belly button, and it's called the sacral.
Speaker CAnd that's actually all about money, sex, and self expression.
Speaker CSo because it is anchored right around where the female womb is, it's attached.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CThe color for that is orange.
Speaker CAnd people that tend to be blocked there, you know, have been abused as a child, sexually Abused, have had, you know, violent relationships, are unsure of themselves, you know, whether it be their, how they present themselves in a sensual way or if they're, you know, kind of debating their orientation, if they're unsure.
Speaker DYou.
Speaker CKnow, things like that.
Speaker CAlso, if you've had ongoing money issues, that's going to be anchored there as well.
Speaker CSo I like to joke that it's all about sex and money.
Speaker BYeah, sounds like a great one.
Speaker CThe next one up is at the stomach area and it's called the solar plexus.
Speaker CThat one's the color yellow.
Speaker CAnd the solar plexus is all about how you present yourself.
Speaker CIt's your self esteem, it's your belief in yourself, in your abilities, your self confidence.
Speaker CAll of that is in there.
Speaker CAnd a lot of times you will see blockages there.
Speaker CPeople who are uncomfortable with who they are and try to present themselves as someone different.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CI always say, you know, a lot of people, pretty much everybody will wear a mask when they're out in public to present what they think people want to see as opposed to who they truly are.
Speaker CAnd that is anchored in there.
Speaker CThe next one up is the heart.
Speaker CThe heart is green.
Speaker CAnd that one is all about love and relationships.
Speaker CSo people that have a blocked heart, you'll often find have had extreme loss.
Speaker CSo the loss of children, spouse, parents, pets even, they are unsure of their relationships.
Speaker CAnd if they didn't have proper examples growing up, they might not know how to, in a healthy way, love somebody else.
Speaker CThe throat obviously is the throat that's color blue.
Speaker CAnd that one is all about being able to speak your truth, giving your opinions, making your, your opinion heard.
Speaker CAnd people that are blocked.
Speaker CIf you see children who are always told children should be seen and not heard.
Speaker CYeah, right.
Speaker CThings like that.
Speaker COr you'll see a woman or somebody who's new in a setting, a work setting, and they try to say something and people shoot them down.
Speaker CSo then it's kind of like, well, what's the point?
Speaker CNo one's going to listen to me anyways.
Speaker DRight?
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CNext one up is the third eye.
Speaker CSo it's located right here.
Speaker CAnd the color for this one is violet.
Speaker CAnd this is your connection to the spiritual.
Speaker CIt's your intuition, your psychic abilities.
Speaker CIt's where you receive the unseen.
Speaker CSo things that can block that would be.
Speaker CIf you were raised with certain beliefs that disallow for anything like that, you know, if you were to ever start investigating this, you would be punished, that sort of thing, Religious dogma, it could also be blocked if you are very Science based and not willing to look at things that are not visible to the naked eye.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CAnd then your crown, obviously crowning your head.
Speaker CAnd this is your.
Speaker CIt's white.
Speaker CAnd it's your connection to the universe.
Speaker CSo it's your trust in the universe.
Speaker CIt's your trust that the universe is taking care of you and is looking out for you and everything will end up the way it's supposed to.
Speaker CI always tell my kids, kids who are in their 20s, you will end up exactly where you're meant to be.
Speaker CSo when bad things happen, you lose a job, you break up with your partner or whatever, there's something else that's going to happen.
Speaker CThat's.
Speaker CWhy do you have.
Speaker CAs bad as it is now, do.
Speaker BYou believe that just for anybody, like, what if you're not living the life the way that you.
Speaker BWhat if everything is clogged in you, all your chakras?
Speaker BDo you know what I mean?
Speaker BDo you really believe that no matter what, whether you're a good person or a bad person, you're gonna end up where you're supposed to be?
Speaker BBecause I feel like there's so many things that can affect our journeys.
Speaker CThere are.
Speaker CAnd my belief is that a.
Speaker CMy guardian angels are leading me where I need to go.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CKeeping me from going where I shouldn't, but also that the universe has plans for us.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CLike, my belief is that before we're born, we sign a contract, metaphorically, as to what we need to learn in this lifetime and what things we're going to experience in order to learn that.
Speaker CAnd sometimes they're bad things, and sometimes they're good things and everybody goes through good and bad.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CI think it's how they use that that determines their end game.
Speaker CBut do I think that bad people are meant to be bad?
Speaker CI think that that's what they.
Speaker CThat's what they contracted to before they came.
Speaker CIt was something they had to learn.
Speaker BInteresting.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker CAnd anybody who's open to it can have their chakras cleared.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CYou know, and the reason I like to teach Reiki instead of just doing Reiki is because then they know how to do it to themselves.
Speaker COh, so it's not external.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CYou do it to yourself so you can maintain the balance as opposed to having to run to somebody to fix it every time you go out of balance.
Speaker AThat makes sense.
Speaker AHow do you figure out or learn what chakras are blocked energetically?
Speaker CYou can feel them.
Speaker CLike, if you do Reiki, you can learn how to feel where the blockages Are Okay.
Speaker CAnd because Reiki.
Speaker CWell, you've done level two, so, you know, Reiki can travel space and time.
Speaker CYou can do distance.
Speaker CSo I used to back pre Covid.
Speaker CI would do it.
Speaker CI would just do readings over the Internet, over Zoom, and just kind of get into their energy, feel where the blockages were, and then, you know, describe it.
Speaker CNow, we don't diagnose.
Speaker CWe're not medical professionals, so I can't say this is what's wrong with you and you need to do this, but I can give you my interpretation of what I feel that makes sense.
Speaker BAnd I have heard of people going and saying, oh, I'm feeling like maybe you need to go check, get this checked out.
Speaker BLike, their Reiki practitioner said that to them, and then they did.
Speaker BThey went to the doctor and, oh, yeah, you got something going on here.
Speaker BSo, like, you.
Speaker BThat's.
Speaker BThat to me, is very interesting, but.
Speaker CYeah, it's pretty cool.
Speaker BOkay, so do I know.
Speaker BThere's so many questions.
Speaker AI feel like you're looking at me for answers.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker ASo we talked about how you just.
Speaker AYou can kind of feel that where your blockage is.
Speaker AUm, and then I guess there is another aspect that I want to move into.
Speaker ABut once you do find that blockage, like, what does the process look like in.
Speaker AIn healing that?
Speaker CSo when you do Reiki, you are using the energy that is around you in your environment, channeling it through your body and sending it out your hands into the client, into the person receiving.
Speaker CThe basis of Reiki is that the body mind knows what it needs and where it needs it.
Speaker COkay, so with Reiki, you aren't specifically treating something.
Speaker CYou are treating the whole body, and the body's going to use it where it needs it.
Speaker CNow, if you have blockages somewhere and you emotionally are not ready to release them, they're not going to release.
Speaker CSo that's when you would go for more than one session and work through the emotional issues that are causing it to stay.
Speaker AIs that verbal or just energetically.
Speaker AMultiple sessions.
Speaker CEnergetically.
Speaker AOkay, so it's just another.
Speaker ANot just, but it's like another form of therapy.
Speaker AIt's another way to kind of work through trauma is kind of what I'm picking up on.
Speaker AIf it's blocked, then it's some sort of trauma that you're trying to release.
Speaker BClear.
Speaker BI think more maybe you're trying to clear.
Speaker BTell me if I'm wrong, Kelly.
Speaker BThe energy that's residual from that trauma, is that.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CBecause our bodies hold memories, and it can be Ancestral.
Speaker CIt can be in the uterus and it can be, you know, since you've been born.
Speaker CBut we hold trauma in different parts of our bodies.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CSo your body has to be ready to release that trauma.
Speaker CAnd sometimes it needs more than Reiki.
Speaker CSometimes you do need to go for therapy and counseling.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CLike if you were sexually abused as a child, no matter how much I work on you, your sacral is not going to open up.
Speaker CThat's something you need to work through so that your body feels safe releasing it.
Speaker BOh, interesting.
Speaker BI like the way you just explained that.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AIt's so interesting that it does all tie in what you just mentioned about ancestral blockages and energy.
Speaker AWe just learned about reincarnation and how what that looks like, how you can reach traumas.
Speaker BPast life trauma.
Speaker AYeah, yeah.
Speaker AI can't find the word that I'm looking for, but it was really interesting.
Speaker ASo it's, it's just, it's fun to hear how that ties into Reiki as well.
Speaker BI was curious too.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CWell, because everything's energetic.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BEverything's energy.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd what we did, I guess, just briefly.
Speaker ASo we can touch up on this too, when we were talking about the reincarnation that tied into the hypnosis.
Speaker ASo your hypnosis certification, what aspect is that tying into in your credentials?
Speaker CSo it's amazing because I also teach meditation, and it's amazing how much hypnosis and meditation are connected.
Speaker CIt's very much the same, but in a different format.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CSo there's different parts to a hypnosis session, a hypnotherapy session, and there's the initial part which relaxes you, and then there's a second part which is called a deepener.
Speaker CAnd those are things you do when you're meditating.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CBecause the whole idea behind both meditation and hypnosis is to bring your brain waves down from beta into alpha, and in doing that, your subconscious becomes more receptive.
Speaker CThey kind of work the same.
Speaker CIt's just how they're structured that are different.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CSo, and speaking of past lives, I'm actually looking at doing past life regression hypnosis program.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker CSo that would be super cool.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker AThat is what our guest that we had on a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker AShe's a past life regression hypnosis, and she was just explaining how the hypnosis works and then just the past lives that you experience and then how you can pinpoint the generational traumas that come through.
Speaker BI actually had a session with her, and so that was kind of Neat.
Speaker COh, nice.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BSo it did remind me a lot of meditation, because she's basically just guiding me to, like, a place where I can feel safe and kind of let go of some of my fears and thoughts.
Speaker BAnd then she did.
Speaker BShe took me deeper, and then it was like, now just kind of feel.
Speaker BJust feel your way through.
Speaker CIt was.
Speaker BIt was really interesting.
Speaker AA way to let go.
Speaker BYeah, it was really cool.
Speaker BI had a question about.
Speaker BYou were talking about people holding tension and trauma in different places of the body.
Speaker BI want to say I remember, and maybe I'm wrong, but I remember my Reiki teacher telling me something about telling us, like, oh, yeah, there are certain parts of the body that corresponded to.
Speaker BAnd is it because of the chakras?
Speaker BLike, maybe if somebody has knee pain, it might be usually because of some, not always.
Speaker AOh, I see what you're saying.
Speaker BCertain kinds of trauma.
Speaker BDoes that sound.
Speaker BDoes that sound true?
Speaker CYeah, I mean, I don't get into the medical aspect of it.
Speaker CThere are people called medical intuitives who can go in and read your body and tell you where things are happening and why they're happening.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CI mean, again, it kind of sometimes will be a bit of a gray line because they'll say, oh, well, you have this wrong here, but it's a medical diagnosis because they're medical intuitives.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CBut as a Reiki master, I can't do that.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CBut the body, the way it works, where you experience issues isn't necessarily where the issue is.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CWhich is why in Reiki, you treat the whole body.
Speaker CSo, you know, you both might have knee pain, but one of you, it might be because, you know, you hurt your ankle and your knee's overcompensating.
Speaker CAnd one of you, it might be because your hip is out, so your knee's overcompensating.
Speaker CSo by treating the knee, you're really not helping the issue.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CSo that's why it focuses on full body healing as opposed to spots.
Speaker CAnd like myself, when I'm stressed, I anchor it in one specific section of my body, and I know that about myself, so I can recognize it when it happens.
Speaker CBut, like, sometimes it's my hip, sometimes it's my lower back.
Speaker CLast time it was my neck.
Speaker DRight?
Speaker CLike, and I'll know because all of a sudden it's just like, wow, okay, that's really a lot of tension and really tight.
Speaker CWhat's going on?
Speaker CAnd then I know that, okay, it's stress, so I need to do something to address the stress.
Speaker CIt's not a physical Thing.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CSo as you become more in tune with your body and your energy, you can recognize those things.
Speaker AIt's funny that you say that because I'm definitely guilty of like, when I was going through a very stressful time in my life, I, I would notice that different parts of my body or were the parts that were tensed up.
Speaker AAnd so I'd go to Google and be like, okay, what does it mean if your hips are feeling the tension?
Speaker AAnd then I would like be able to kind of like read through what it would suggest.
Speaker AAnd, and a lot of times it was actually pretty spot on.
Speaker ALike, I, I remember when I was feeling all the tension in my hips, I, I believe it said something like that typically means you're holding on to like resentment.
Speaker ASo it doesn't, I mean that doesn't sound like it's exactly talking about chakras, but it did.
Speaker AIt was true.
Speaker AI was holding on to kind of hard feelings, wondering.
Speaker BYeah, I also was wondering too.
Speaker BYou were talking about how all the chakra, the chakras have color associated with them.
Speaker BI was in a metaphysical store.
Speaker BAnd you know how they have those little sound bowls that you can ring and they're.
Speaker BI, I guess certain tones are also associated with different chakras, like frequencies.
Speaker BOkay, yeah.
Speaker BTell me why, why is the sacral chakra chakra senses?
Speaker BI bet you said orange.
Speaker BMaybe, but yeah, tell.
Speaker BCan you kind of shed some light on that?
Speaker CWhy is it orange?
Speaker BYeah, like why are there certain colors associated?
Speaker BLike where did that come from?
Speaker BIs it can't be willy nilly, hundreds of years ago.
Speaker CI honestly don't know where it originated.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CLike if you go into a metaphysical store, you'll see like wall hangings and stuff and it'll be a body and it'll have, you know, like white, purple.
Speaker CYeah, that's the chakras.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CI honestly don't know why they were given those colors.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CIt's something I've never learned and actually, to be honest, never thought of.
Speaker BOh, well, then I was even wondering like, oh, are certain colors nice and.
Speaker AGood to have around you?
Speaker BDo they.
Speaker AIf you know, you have your, your chakra block, do you need to surround yourself with white?
Speaker ALike, is that kind of what you were?
Speaker CYeah, exactly.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker CIf your root is blocked, eat red food, you know, surround yourself with the color red.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AOkay, so the red means red crystals.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CIt does mean something.
Speaker CAnd, and when I, all of my sessions vary depending on the individual.
Speaker CAnd in some cases I'll use crystals to kind of amplify the energy that I'm sending.
Speaker CAnd there are specific crystals associated to specific chakras because they have the color to match.
Speaker AOh, I'm so glad you said that.
Speaker AThat's one of the things I didn't understand going into those stores is, you see all the crystals and all the rocks and stones, and.
Speaker AAnd I had no idea, like, what the point of them was.
Speaker CSo every crystal has a different property, you know, and they have different representations.
Speaker CSo amethyst, for example, I always put on here because it's the color purple.
Speaker CBut also it's known to cleanse the blood.
Speaker CIt's, you know, positive energy, that sort of thing.
Speaker CRose quartz is the love stone.
Speaker CIt's pink, so it actually doesn't match up with.
Speaker CThat's one of the ones that doesn't match with the chakra.
Speaker CBut, you know, when you are feeling that you need love around you, you're supposed to surround yourself with rose quartz.
Speaker CBut I will use, like, a bloodstone for the root because it's dark.
Speaker CAnd I will use a. I can't remember the name of it, but it's orange.
Speaker CSo I'll use that on the sacral.
Speaker CI'll use a citrine on the solar plexus because it's yellow.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CAn adventurine on the heart.
Speaker CSo there's, you know, a lapis on the throat because it's.
Speaker ADoes that mean you're physically holding it?
Speaker CI place it on the individual during a session.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CI'll do it with you.
Speaker ASo when you're cleansing yourself, do you do that, too?
Speaker ALike, if you are trying to cleanse, like, you know, you have something here, like, you just hold the stone there, then, like, do your meditational.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CWhen I'm giving myself a Reiki treatment, I'll have the stones that I need.
Speaker COh, and it's funny because you can't see, but at my desk, I have celestite, I have floral agate, I have obsidian, I have goldstone.
Speaker CI have rose quartz.
Speaker CI have the one that looks like gold.
Speaker CI can't remember what it's called.
Speaker CSo I'm surrounded by crystals all the time.
Speaker AYou gave me something to really dig into.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AI was always curious on why there's crystals everywhere and people are talking about using them.
Speaker AAnd now I know they actually have, like, some properties and energies that you can use to.
Speaker AI love it.
Speaker AThat gives me something else to dig into.
Speaker ASo I'll be doing that next.
Speaker CBut if you go into a store like that, make sure whoever's working there is well versed.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker COn what the crystals are and what they do.
Speaker AHow do you vet them?
Speaker AHow do you know if they're.
Speaker BSo honestly, when I.
Speaker BThere's a store here.
Speaker CIf they sound like they're making it up.
Speaker BYeah, there's a store that I like to go to here in Atlanta.
Speaker BIt's called the Phoenix and Dragon.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BAnd I've straight up had a girl behind the counter say, you know, this isn't really my specialty.
Speaker BLet me go get.
Speaker AOh, I love that.
Speaker AThat's totally fair.
Speaker AI love when people are like, that's a great question, but let me give you someone who knows what they're talking about.
Speaker BSuper helpful there.
Speaker ANow, I was explaining to Melissa because one of the things that really got us started in this podcast was a curiosity in myself of not knowing what I believe in in general.
Speaker AAnd that kind of spiraled into the spirituality and the really spiritualist point of view.
Speaker AAnd I just kind of took it and ran with it.
Speaker AAnd I've been asking a bunch of different questions with a bunch of different types of people.
Speaker AAnd so I was explaining to her how you.
Speaker AYou kind of taught me that there's a spiritualist church.
Speaker AAnd I was trying to describe to her what I was envisioning as you were describing it.
Speaker AAnd so basically, it's.
Speaker AIt's like a community.
Speaker AAnd, you know, you are an ordained minister, which is the ordained metaphysical.
Speaker AAnd that you were explaining how, like, when you go to church at this church, I believe I remember you saying, it's not like you just go to this one building and that's your worshiping time, or I don't really know what word you would use, but you kind of go to the different buildings of all the different specialties, and they give you and teach you something different in each.
Speaker AEach sermon.
Speaker AI don't know what terms you use.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo what you were.
Speaker CWhen we were talking about Lilydale, I was describing how the.
Speaker CHow the community works.
Speaker CSo, I mean, the spiritual church.
Speaker BSorry, really?
Speaker CEverywhere.
Speaker BLily Dell, a community is.
Speaker CLily Deli Dell is a gated community or a church.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CYeah, thank you.
Speaker CIt is.
Speaker CIt's owned by the spiritualist church.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CLike, the land itself is owned by the spiritualist church.
Speaker CAnd the people that live there are either healers or mediums.
Speaker CNow, in the spiritualist church, the medium is almost like the minister.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CSo in a spiritualist church session, for example, at Lily Dale, like, you can go, there are spiritualist church that are in churches, but I haven't gone to those because there isn't any near me.
Speaker CI do Know some?
Speaker CActually, my Reiki master used to preach at one of them.
Speaker CWell, not preach.
Speaker CI shouldn't say that.
Speaker CShe used to do the service at one of them.
Speaker AThe terms.
Speaker CWhen you're at Lilydale, there are different ways that they say they serve spirit.
Speaker CSo it's not necessarily like a church service, although they do do that as well.
Speaker CSo their church service is done in an auditorium, and it is a gallery reading.
Speaker CSo their idea of serving spirit is demonstrating the connection between spirit and the living and the fact that your loved ones are still all around you.
Speaker BWhat's a gallery reading?
Speaker BI'm so sorry.
Speaker CSo that's when they're on stage and they just pick people out of the audience and say, okay, there's someone here for you.
Speaker CI'm drawn to you.
Speaker CIt's.
Speaker CThis is what they are, who they are.
Speaker CDoes that make sense to you?
Speaker AYeah, she was saying, like, the mediums are the sermon ministers of.
Speaker AThe.
Speaker CRight, exactly, exactly.
Speaker CSo they do do that once a day.
Speaker CBut they also have gallery readings on the grounds in different areas, which are the same idea.
Speaker CIt's them serving spirit by proving the connection of spirit to the living.
Speaker CBut they do it at.
Speaker CFor example, one place is called the Inspiration Stump, and it's supposed to be almost like an energy vortex there, kind of like you guys have in Arizona and stuff.
Speaker CAnd it's in the middle of an old growth forest, so you actually have to walk down a stone path to get to it.
Speaker CAnd it's really cute because there's like a little pet cemetery on the way, and, you know, all that stuff.
Speaker CAnd then they have another area that's called the forest Temple, which is just like an outdoor stage, and they do the same thing there.
Speaker CAnd then they have a healing temple, which is a building, and it looks more like a church.
Speaker CBut what they'll do is they have healers set up at the front.
Speaker CThere's usually like eight of them, between six and eight of them.
Speaker CAnd people will come in and just sit down in the chairs, like the pews, but they're chairs, and then go up one at a time and receive a healing, an energy healing.
Speaker CAnd then they get up and leave and the next person goes up.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CThat sort of thing.
Speaker BWhat other kind of healers are there besides.
Speaker CSo they do it in all different ways.
Speaker BOkay, what other kinds of healers are there?
Speaker BI'm imagining that you're one of the Reiki healers.
Speaker CMaybe so.
Speaker CI'm not.
Speaker CI've offered to teach, but they have so many people that live there that can do stuff like that.
Speaker CBut the spiritualist church actually has their own version of energy work.
Speaker CSo kind of like you had the different energy work you did on the horse.
Speaker CThey have their version, but all of them are pretty much identical.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CLike it's the same energy.
Speaker CIt's.
Speaker CIt's just how it's being transferred.
Speaker CBut they do the same thing.
Speaker CIt's through their hands.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CThey channel it through their hands just like you do with Reiki, just like you would have done when you were treating the horses.
Speaker CAnd you can do Reiki on animals too, by the way.
Speaker CYou should have learned that in your first session.
Speaker CLike in level one.
Speaker BI have done it.
Speaker CSo yeah.
Speaker CSo basically when I go, I tend to go by myself.
Speaker CIt's on a lake.
Speaker CSo I love sitting like by the lake and meditating and stuff.
Speaker CAnd I will go, I'll get up in the morning, I'll go to the healing temple, then I'll grab breakfast.
Speaker CThey also do yoga and stuff.
Speaker CAnd then I'll go to inspiration Stump.
Speaker CAnd then I'll go to the service in the auditorium.
Speaker CAnd then I'll go to the forest temple.
Speaker CAnd then I'll go have dinner.
Speaker CAnd then they'll have different classes and stuff in the evenings.
Speaker CSo you can take like, you know, there's different astrology classes, mediumship classes, guest speakers on the weekends.
Speaker CThey have like really famous people in this, in this area.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CAnd they'll come in and do like weekend workshops and talks and things like that.
Speaker CSo it's.
Speaker BOr I guess I just hadn't heard.
Speaker BYeah, yeah.
Speaker CSpiritualism is a religion and they actually, they do believe in God, but they don't believe in the dogma associated with the other religions.
Speaker BOkay, interesting.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker ASo do you have to again?
Speaker AI. I told you when we were doing our pre interview that this is completely new to me.
Speaker AI did not know that this a religion.
Speaker AIs there some of the religions in their dogma is that you kind of have to do things their specific way and that you have to be like welcomed into the church community.
Speaker AIs that kind of how this community works as to works as well.
Speaker ADo you have to ask to be entered into the church community and then follow certain guidelines or rules to be a part of it?
Speaker CThat's a good question.
Speaker CThey welcome everybody.
Speaker CSo you don't have to be a member of the church to visit.
Speaker CYou don't have to ask for permission.
Speaker CAnyone can pull up to the gate, pay a day pass, go park and enjoy the grounds and go to the services.
Speaker CLike they're very Open.
Speaker CVery welcoming to everyone.
Speaker CThere are specific rules, guidelines that, that they do encourage people to follow, but it's simple things like, you know, be kind to one another.
Speaker CYou know, there's nothing, it's not like the Ten Commandments sort of thing.
Speaker CIt's just basically, don't be an asshole.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker AOh, well, that should be a rule everywhere, right?
Speaker CIt should be, but it's not true.
Speaker AI love that.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker ADo you feel like you have a hard time when you meet other types of people and they ask about your life and you're getting to know someone new?
Speaker ADo you have a, do you find that you have a challenge connecting with people you just meet?
Speaker ABecause I know that I have been struggling with how to introduce myself to people now and I.
Speaker AIt's been offensive apparently.
Speaker ASo I'm just kind of curious how that goes for you when you're trying to get to know someone new that is not known into the religion that you are.
Speaker CSo I usually don't have any issues when I meet someone new.
Speaker CI.
Speaker CThe first thing I say isn't, hey, I'm a metaphysical minister, how are you?
Speaker DRight, right.
Speaker CYeah, yeah.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker CAnd my intuition is on point, right.
Speaker CWhich is part of a having your energetic body lined up properly and be focusing on your feminine energy, because intuition is part of that.
Speaker CSo my intuition is fantastic.
Speaker CAnd I will know probably within about a minute of meeting somebody if this is someone that I'm going to get along with or not.
Speaker BOh, so it really what you want to share with them?
Speaker BBecause we don't have to share everything with everyone, right?
Speaker DNo.
Speaker CYeah, like I don't know what religion you guys follow, if any.
Speaker CAnd like it wouldn't occur to me to ask.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker ASo I, I guess like what I run into is so like I'll meet someone new and they're like, oh, what do you do?
Speaker AAnd I'm like, oh, I got a podcast.
Speaker AWell, what do you talk about?
Speaker AAll kinds of things.
Speaker AWe talk about spiritual things.
Speaker AOkay, well what's one of the things you talked about?
Speaker ALucid dreaming.
Speaker AOh, well, what brought that on?
Speaker AAnd then honestly, like we fell into lucid dreaming because I thought that my mother, well, not.
Speaker AI thought my mother in law had put an evil eye curse on me.
Speaker AAnd so, I mean, what do you say to that answer?
Speaker AAnd so then I said that and then her jaw just drops and I go, oh, oh, it's okay, like I have an evil eye in the house and like we're very protected.
Speaker AAnd she just goes, oh, that's what Jesus is for.
Speaker AAnd Walks away.
Speaker AAnd then my husband's like, samantha, you can't tell people this.
Speaker AAnd I was like.
Speaker AShe asked a.
Speaker AWhat was I supposed to say?
Speaker CYeah, you know what my response would probably be when she says, you know, what do you do?
Speaker CPodcasts.
Speaker CWhat do you talk about?
Speaker CSpiritual stuff.
Speaker COh, really?
Speaker CLike what?
Speaker CFor example, lucid dreaming.
Speaker COh, what brought that on?
Speaker CWell, you know what?
Speaker CWe really like to investigate all different avenues of it, and everybody's different experiences.
Speaker ALove that.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CDefinitely more so there's ways to just kind of code, especially if it's someone who's going to judge you.
Speaker CRight?
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AI'm not good at knowing who's going to judge you, I guess, is part of the problem is I just.
Speaker AI feel like I am so open to what anyone might feel or say, and so I just kind of expect it in return.
Speaker AAnd it's not the case.
Speaker CIt's not the case.
Speaker BIt's not at all.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AHow so?
Speaker AEarlier you mentioned that everyone kind of walks around with a mask and that you present yourself the way that you think that the people around you want you to be presented.
Speaker ASo is that kind of.
Speaker AAre you saying that you should have a mask when you're out and about and then you kind of decide who and how you show that to is.
Speaker CNo, it's not a mask.
Speaker CYou're not hiding who you are.
Speaker CYou don't necessarily have to word vomit when you meet someone.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker AThat makes sense.
Speaker CSo just, if it's someone you've just met, why do you do a podcast on spirituality?
Speaker CYou know what?
Speaker CI find it really, really interesting.
Speaker CI get to meet new people.
Speaker CI, you know, I get to learn new things.
Speaker CAnd I find it fascinating.
Speaker AYou're being fascinating and yourself so much sense when you say that.
Speaker AI don't know why I just.
Speaker AWord vomit.
Speaker AI'm like.
Speaker CJust.
Speaker AI don't know, I just don't know how to talk to people, I guess, and just whatever comes into my head, it comes out.
Speaker BBut to take it back to what Sam was asking about the mask because you.
Speaker BBecause that was a little bit different.
Speaker BI don't think she was saying to, like, actually wear a mask.
Speaker BBut you were just kind of saying what?
Speaker BActually, I even forgot what chakra you were saying that that related to solar plexus.
Speaker BSolar plexus.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BBut you're more just kind of saying, like, all of us have a tendency to kind of want to protect ourselves to a certain extent, and so you're going to try to.
Speaker AMorph into a little bit.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker BYou don't have to take it off and show everything all at once.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BKind of like you don't just bear it all on the first date.
Speaker CMaybe you do.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker CBut you know what?
Speaker CIt's also.
Speaker CIt can be more than that.
Speaker CI remember I used to, before I got into doing this, like, regularly, full time sort of thing, I was a real estate agent.
Speaker CAnd I remember my eldest, he wanted to switch high schools.
Speaker CAnd where we are, it's publicly funded and you go to the high school that's closest to your house.
Speaker CHe didn't want to do that.
Speaker CHe wanted to go to a different high school.
Speaker CSo we had to get permission from the principal for him to attend.
Speaker CHe had to have an exception.
Speaker CSo we went in and as we were walking in, he looked at me, he goes, mom, do me a favor.
Speaker CPut on your real estate face.
Speaker BOh, that's so funny.
Speaker DRight?
Speaker CBecause my real estate face was very direct, very professional, very, you know, this is what we're looking for.
Speaker CThis is the reason why.
Speaker CVery calm and like.
Speaker CAnd I was like, wow.
Speaker BHe knew.
Speaker CI don't know if I should be offended.
Speaker AOh, sorry.
Speaker AOh, that's so funny.
Speaker CI like that.
Speaker CIt is.
Speaker CLike, some people who work in customer service, they'll tell you they have their customer service voice.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CIt's not the voice they talk to their friends with.
Speaker AYeah, yeah.
Speaker AI remember those days waiting tables and in the like running thing is that someone tells a joke and you have your.
Speaker AYour work laugh because it's not really funny.
Speaker AYou wouldn't really laugh if you weren't at work.
Speaker AAnd you have to be like, it's the funniest thing.
Speaker AYou're right.
Speaker ABut I've heard that joke like 20 times already today, so I want my tip.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker AYeah, yeah.
Speaker ADon't miss those days.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo, yeah, it is.
Speaker CIt's more than just in your personal life.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CAnd people who aren't really sure of who they are, they haven't figured it out yet.
Speaker CSo they just try to reflect back what the other person is showing them.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker AYeah, I think that is the other.
Speaker AI mean.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ANot knowing what you believe in, that is not being sure of yourself.
Speaker AI feel like it's the same thing.
Speaker AAnd that's kind of where I was.
Speaker AAnd so I feel like I'm still trying to learn just how to.
Speaker AHow to accept how I feel and who I feel like I am and then being able to portray that in a normal way.
Speaker CYeah, yeah.
Speaker CNow, Melissa, I don't know if Sam told you, but she's decided and agreed with me that you guys need to travel up this way and do, like, a weekend at Lilydale with me.
Speaker AWhere are you?
Speaker BLike, where is Lilydale, New York?
Speaker CIt's in New York State, just near the Pennsylvania border.
Speaker BThat sounds amazing.
Speaker BLike, that's, like, where I want to live.
Speaker AReally?
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AOh, I didn't know that.
Speaker BI'd love to live in, like, so I used to live outside of Cleveland, near Pennsylvania, and it's beautiful there.
Speaker BAnd I always thought.
Speaker BAnd I haven't been to New York, but I always thought upstate New York, and it sounds pretty idyllic, like a little community just going.
Speaker BEverybody's accepting.
Speaker AWe're gonna go visit, and Melissa's not gonna come home.
Speaker BMaybe that's what it.
Speaker AOh, my God.
Speaker AAre you still licensed?
Speaker CWhat do you mean?
Speaker BOh, as a realtor.
Speaker COh, not in New York state.
Speaker CI'm in Ontario, so.
Speaker AOh, okay.
Speaker AOh, that's so fun.
Speaker AYeah, I think that would be.
Speaker AIt would be another travel experience.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker DYeah.
Speaker AWe have been traveling to experience the things, and, you know, when we learned about the past life regression, Melissa was like, oh, sign me up.
Speaker AI want to know what that feels like.
Speaker AAnd.
Speaker AAnd I'm about to.
Speaker AWe're about to travel to D.C. and I'm about to experience a inner energy healing where she is able to kind of pinpoint where in your life and time frame that there was trauma that has affected you throughout your life.
Speaker ASo you can kind of work on that.
Speaker AAnd so, you know, as someone that's been in therapy for many years, and I'm getting frustrated.
Speaker ALike, can you just tell me, like, where this problem stemmed from?
Speaker ALike, I'm getting tired of all, like, this talking and trying to figure it out.
Speaker AAnd she's like, yeah, I can usually pinpoint of.
Speaker AOh, when you were nine years old and your best friend stopped being your friend because she said that you stole her toy, you stopped trusting people.
Speaker ALike, you know, just a random example.
Speaker ASo I'm.
Speaker AI'm curious to see what pans out of that.
Speaker CThat'd be awesome.
Speaker BFascinating.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BSo is Lilydale pretty open?
Speaker BLike, are you allowed to take pictures or record it all is a good question.
Speaker COh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker CYou can take pictures, you can record, you can do whatever.
Speaker BThat would be really neat if we could take our listeners on a journey there.
Speaker AYou did say, though, they're only open in the summer.
Speaker ASummer months, yeah.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CSo, yeah, they open the end of June and close Labor Day weekend.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BI've been wanting to go on some kind of, like, I feel like you could kind of curate your Own little retreat.
Speaker BI've been wanting to do some kind of retreat where you can go to the.
Speaker BMaybe to the mountains.
Speaker BMaybe you're just doing yoga all day and meditating.
Speaker BAnd it sounds like you could pretty much do all of that retreat that.
Speaker AWe'Ve talked about wanting to do.
Speaker AI wonder how that relates to I.
Speaker AThis all seems to relate.
Speaker ASo I just kind of wonder, like we were talking about wanting to do a.
Speaker BA peyote trip.
Speaker CIs that.
Speaker CYeah, we're not going to get that there.
Speaker BI'm joking.
Speaker CI know.
Speaker BI know that's not what you were trying to say.
Speaker CThat came.
Speaker AIt was a guided.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AIt was a guided meditated trip.
Speaker ASo maybe.
Speaker AMaybe it was some sort of drug.
Speaker ABut.
Speaker CBut like the point of learning.
Speaker CNo.
Speaker CAnyone'?
Speaker CListening.
Speaker ANo drugs.
Speaker ANo drugs are involved.
Speaker BShe's like not associated with Lily Dale.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AWhat I have heard is that there are people who do guided meditations, I think with shrooms.
Speaker AAnd that that's supposed to give you that grand enlightenment of your spiritual awakening.
Speaker AAnd so.
Speaker CYes.
Speaker AI guess I don't.
Speaker ADoes that.
Speaker AIs that an appropriate way to kind of explore like we're talking about?
Speaker CI'm gonna encourage the use of psychedelics.
Speaker AI was like, you find her in.
Speaker BA really tricky spot.
Speaker CSo I can't say.
Speaker CI do know somebody who actually facilitates those things.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CAnd says they're absolutely fantastic.
Speaker CBut I've never tried it.
Speaker CSo I honestly couldn't tell you.
Speaker ASo then let me just.
Speaker CI know.
Speaker CI wouldn't try.
Speaker CTry and travel across the border with them.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ADon't do that.
Speaker AThat sounds like a terrible idea.
Speaker AYou.
Speaker AYou would say that you have been enlightened.
Speaker ACorrect.
Speaker AYou're spiritually awakened.
Speaker CYes.
Speaker ASo what was.
Speaker AYou didn't do the shroom trip to get that awakening.
Speaker ASo what was the grand awakening for you?
Speaker CI think it was discovering the energy work.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CI was always interested in that stuff.
Speaker CI was always interested in connecting to departed people.
Speaker CI was always interested in things like Wicca and hypnosis and UFOs and like all that sort of stuff.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CLike all the out there stuff I always found fascinating.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BFringe.
Speaker CAnd then finding the energy work.
Speaker CSee, the thing with Reiki, it's not just a physical thing.
Speaker CIt also leads to spiritual development.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CThat's one of the bases of the practice.
Speaker BCan you share?
Speaker BBecause the five principles of Reiki, like, do you know what I'm talking about?
Speaker COff the top of my head.
Speaker AOh, stop putting her on tough questions.
Speaker BLet me see.
Speaker BDid I start.
Speaker AI want to hear about her grand enlightening.
Speaker AMelissa.
Speaker BOh, sorry.
Speaker BBecause I thought that was a good way to.
Speaker BBecause when you're talking about.
Speaker BIt's more.
Speaker BIt's more like.
Speaker AThan a physical.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BThe five principles is what came to mind when you said that.
Speaker COh, yeah.
Speaker CI'm just trying to think.
Speaker CNo way.
Speaker CI know them, but let me tell.
Speaker AI'll find them because I actually was.
Speaker BJust looking them up because I think they're beautiful.
Speaker BBut is that kind of what you're saying?
Speaker CYou're supposed to study them?
Speaker CYes, yes, exactly.
Speaker CBy studying them, you, things don't get you upset as they used to.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BIt's a good way to kind of like, build your meditate.
Speaker BYou can build your meditations, your daily meditations on it.
Speaker BSo, like, first.
Speaker BThe first ones, I will not be angry, but actually, I want to say it was even more than that.
Speaker BIt was like, just for today, I will not be angry.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BSo just for today.
Speaker CJust for today, I will not worry.
Speaker CJust for today, I will not be angry.
Speaker CJust for today, I will be grateful.
Speaker CJust for today, I will do my work honestly.
Speaker CAnd just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.
Speaker CSo when you take Reiki, you study those, you know, in addition to doing your daily Reiki treatments to yourself, you study the five Reiki principles.
Speaker CAnd I used to have them as the wallpaper on my phone because I like that I would forget.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CYou get busy.
Speaker CSo I always tell my students, you know, put it on your phone or put it on a.
Speaker CPost it on your bathroom mirror.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CSomething like that.
Speaker CWe'll just see it throughout the day.
Speaker CAnd then you stop and you kind of.
Speaker CI don't want to say you meditate on them, but you really stop and think about them and what they mean and, you know, how can you apply them to your life?
Speaker CAnd, you know, I find.
Speaker CI mean, my husband may say differently because, you know, that's a family thing, But I've actually had people say to me, like, I've never heard you yell.
Speaker CLike, do you just not get angry?
Speaker CAnd I just really don't think about it, if that makes sense.
Speaker CYeah, yeah.
Speaker CI mean, if I'm driving, I yell.
Speaker ABut who doesn't gets everyone, you know, I love that.
Speaker AAnd it's a connection to the greater.
Speaker AYeah, yeah.
Speaker AAnd.
Speaker AAnd that's exactly like what you're supposed to do.
Speaker AWhen you set goals that you want to hit or you want to use manifestation, you post it somewhere where you're gonna see it, read it, look at it every day in passing, and then it Just subconsciously even makes you reflect on it.
Speaker ASo that makes tons of sense.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AOne of the things that gets to the point where.
Speaker AOh, I'm sorry.
Speaker AGo ahead.
Speaker CIt's.
Speaker CIt's to the point where.
Speaker CWhen was it?
Speaker CLast year sometime.
Speaker CI had a $50 bill in my pocket of my shorts last summer, and I don't know what happened to it.
Speaker CI lost it somewhere.
Speaker CI probably pulled my phone out and it came out with it and whatever.
Speaker CAnd my son looks at me, goes, like, I would be so upset.
Speaker CAnd like, yeah, you know what?
Speaker CSomeone needed it more than we did.
Speaker BAw.
Speaker AThat is a good.
Speaker CEverything for a reason.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CSo if they needed it more than me, then they can have it.
Speaker CYou know, I love that it might have made a big difference to somebody.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker AI love that.
Speaker AThat is a good reminder.
Speaker CI know a lot of people who would just lost their mind.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AI mean, once upon a time, like when.
Speaker AWhen we were, you know, very.
Speaker ADidn't have anything.
Speaker AJust working really hard and trying to keep myself in and a baby alive, like, yeah.
Speaker AIf I lost, like, $20, I probably would have been in hysterics.
Speaker ALike, that made a big difference.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CBut think of how good your life would have felt if you found a 50.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BAnd so she's hoping that you would have been the one to find it or someone who.
Speaker AOh, yeah.
Speaker AThat would have been, like, the person that would have been maybe, hopefully attracted to it.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AThat is really beautiful.
Speaker AI.
Speaker AThat's a really.
Speaker AI will be spending time reflecting on that because that is a perfect way to kind of not hold on to the anger.
Speaker ALike, I will not be angry because if I'm angry over forgetting to get well, I don't know.
Speaker ABecause it would be hard.
Speaker ALike, if, like, when I'm cooking and, like, let's say I forgot the main ingredient, and, like, then I'm mad that I forgot that at the store.
Speaker AWhat's.
Speaker AI mean, what am I being thankful for?
Speaker ALike, I'm just mad.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo what you have to do with that approach is, okay, so I have all of these ingredients instead.
Speaker CWhat can I make?
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BSome people don't even have those ingredients.
Speaker CMaybe.
Speaker AThat is true.
Speaker AThat is true.
Speaker AAll right, I'm gonna practice that.
Speaker AI'm gonna start practicing because I'm really quick, especially cooking.
Speaker AIf I forget something at the store and I get really mad, I'm like, now what am I going to do?
Speaker AWhy am I so inconvenienced to myself?
Speaker AI'm going to have to start practicing that mind frame.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BI also understand what you're saying.
Speaker BLike, I tend to get into this mindset of this is how it's supposed to be.
Speaker BAnd then I forget that, wait, there's more going on than just right here, right now.
Speaker BAnd how could this just, this could just be okay.
Speaker BIt's just another part of.
Speaker AI love it.
Speaker BEnergy.
Speaker AWell, I hope our listeners reflect on this as much as I will.
Speaker AI know that this is a lot of food for thought.
Speaker ASo I'm need to take some time and just kind of process everything.
Speaker AAnd I really am going to be digging into crystals.
Speaker ALike that was something I was really curious about.
Speaker AAnd, and you also mentioned your curiosity is kind of what stemmed you into moving into this.
Speaker AAnd when you.
Speaker AI believe it's.
Speaker AWhen you were talking about the, the crystals and stuff, it just kind of made me, when I would see those in the stores, my first thought was like, oh, this probably relates.
Speaker ALike these are for Wiccans.
Speaker AThis is the Wicca practicing.
Speaker AAnd that doesn't sound like that's the case.
Speaker AAnd then it just kind of made me think, is, is that something that ties into all this as well?
Speaker AI have not looked into Wiccan, Wicca.
Speaker CWicca is a completely different religion, but it's a very, very, it is a loving, nature focused religion.
Speaker DRight.
Speaker CIt's not what the movies make it out to be where, you know, it's the bad witch sort of thing who's casting spells and putting hexes on people.
Speaker CI mean, you get some people like that, but they aren't following the Wicca tradition.
Speaker CThe Wicca tradition is all about worshiping the earth, worshiping nature.
Speaker DRight?
Speaker CSo when, when the sabbats happen.
Speaker CSo like the solstices and things like that, they talk about, you know, Mother Earth and Father Moon and the three stages of a woman's life, which is the mother, maiden and crone.
Speaker CWell, maiden, mother and crone.
Speaker CAnd the cycle of the year is attached to the cycle of the, of the woman's life.
Speaker CLike it's very woman centric.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CSo, you know, like the winter, for example, is crone because it's the end.
Speaker CThings are dying off.
Speaker CWhereas then spring happens and that's the maiden because it's all like new life and new things beginning and that sort of stuff.
Speaker CSo they do use, some of them do use crystals.
Speaker CCrystals can be used in a whole bunch of different things, right?
Speaker CSo just because one thing is used somewhere doesn't mean it means anything when it's used somewhere else.
Speaker AI'm guilty of that concrete thinking.
Speaker ALike I, I Think that there's like, someone tells me something and I'm like, okay, that is what it is.
Speaker AAnd so that's something that she's trying to help me is like, no, it's not this.
Speaker AAnd that's it.
Speaker ALike, you got to remember open mind.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BBut it's also.
Speaker AYeah, I love.
Speaker BI hope you don't think I'm like.
Speaker AOh, no, no, you don't think correctly.
Speaker AThat's not what I mean.
Speaker ANo, you remind me of like.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AYou even say, I know you like concrete, like things and this is just one of those things that just isn't as concrete.
Speaker AAnd it could go this way and it can go that way.
Speaker AAnd I'm like, oh, okay, you're right.
Speaker ALet me think about it.
Speaker BYeah, it's really interesting.
Speaker ABut yeah, thanks for being on.
Speaker AKelly.
Speaker AThis was a great conversation.
Speaker AIt sounds like this is a foreshadow to another episode where we travel.
Speaker AI actually.
Speaker AYeah, yeah, that'll be really fun.
Speaker AI think that's definitely something to experience because I.
Speaker AYou can tell me about it and I can try to imagine it, but I don't think I'm going to really understand exactly what this is until I see it and experience it for myself.
Speaker ASo that'll be really cool.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CWell, to help you find out, there is.
Speaker CI don't know if it's on Netflix still.
Speaker CThere was a documentary done back in 2011 called no One Dies in Woolerydale.
Speaker BOkay, that sounds interesting.
Speaker AYeah, thanks for sharing that.
Speaker CAnd they actually have one of the inspiration stump readings in it.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker CSo you'll see how they do it and you know what it means.
Speaker CAnd then you can go on to the.
Speaker CThey have a website and it's L, I, L, Y, D A L E. Okay.
Speaker CAnd you can see all about it how, you know, it was founded in the late 1800s and it was actually at the forefront of the woman's suffragette movement.
Speaker CSo they used to have these women come and speak.
Speaker CThey've had celebrities there back then and.
Speaker CVery interesting.
Speaker BDid Aleister Crowley ever have anything to do with Lily Dale?
Speaker CNo.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CNo.
Speaker BDid he try to, like, is that what he was trying to do out in California maybe, or.
Speaker BWell, that's a whole nother.
Speaker CYeah, No, I.
Speaker CHe has nothing to.
Speaker CTo do with that.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker AAre you taking clients currently virtually for all of our listeners?
Speaker CYeah, I am.
Speaker CAnd actually, you know what, I'm going to give you a social link to post in the Social Connections.
Speaker CI actually just did a self led online Reiki level one class.
Speaker DOh.
Speaker CThrough Teachable.
Speaker CAnd so you get certified to your level one and then you set up your attunement ceremony with me when you're done.
Speaker CIt.
Speaker DWow.
Speaker CAnd I have a promo for the launch for, like $55.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BThank you.
Speaker AThat's so awesome.
Speaker AYeah, I'm really excited to look into that.
Speaker AAnd we will link that.
Speaker AAnd I.
Speaker AYou did share with me your connection so that we can get all of our listeners connected and they can learn more for themselves with you.
Speaker CYeah, and I'll send them.
Speaker CI'll send it all to you again just to be on the safe side, because it'll have the link with the teachable course as well.
Speaker AOh, perfect.
Speaker BThis was all very fascinating.
Speaker AIt was like, I have lots to just kind of think more through and.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BThank you so much, Kelly.
Speaker AFed my curiosity.
Speaker AThank you.
Speaker CAwesome.
Speaker CThank you so much for having me.
Speaker CThis has been great.
Speaker CWe've been chatting forever and seems like it went by like that.
Speaker AI know.
Speaker BYeah, it always does.
Speaker AI love to hear when our guests say that, though, too, because sometimes I worry, like, oh, we talked a long time.
Speaker AI hope that.
Speaker AThat they felt like they got something enjoyable out of it too.
Speaker CBut yeah, it was awesome.
Speaker CIt was.
Speaker CAnd I'm really looking forward to this little adventure this summer.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker AWell, we will get on that and we will touch base and let you know.
Speaker BI'm very.
Speaker AYeah, it'll be fun.
Speaker BThank you so much, Kelly.
Speaker CSounds good.
Speaker COh, you're very welcome.
Speaker CMotuxent.
Speaker ADid you like the episode that you heard today?
Speaker CGreat.
