Speaker:

Well, hello and welcome to another episode.

Speaker:

We are absolutely thrilled to have our guest today is Sue Patz.

Speaker:

Her company is New Beginning, that's N U, New Beginning.

Speaker:

And she empowers solopreneurs to streamline their business growth, achieve

Speaker:

higher profits while maintaining a tight budget and minimizing their efforts.

Speaker:

So her approach revolves around the less is more philosophy

Speaker:

to reach those objectives.

Speaker:

So today we're going to talk about.

Speaker:

Solopreneurs and why trained VAs can be a huge asset to their business.

Speaker:

So welcome Sue.

Speaker:

It's so lovely to have you.

Speaker:

Yeah, thanks for inviting me.

Speaker:

I really appreciate it.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker:

We met, how many months ago, Sue, like eight months ago, six months ago?

Speaker:

Possibly.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And it was great because you and I met because you were thinking

Speaker:

about hiring a virtual assistant.

Speaker:

And so we just ended up having a great conversation.

Speaker:

And of course we also have great conversations with you on

Speaker:

Tuesdays and the coaching calls.

Speaker:

But yeah, I really, it's just so awesome to talk with someone who helps

Speaker:

small businesses really figure out.

Speaker:

How to become profitable quickly and how to have a business

Speaker:

that has a good foundation.

Speaker:

So let's start there.

Speaker:

What are some of the things that you talk about as far as understanding

Speaker:

what it takes to build a successful business from the beginning?

Speaker:

Most of all, you should have a mentor who can guide you how to start a business.

Speaker:

And uh, so that's why basically I saw most of the solopreneurs

Speaker:

don't see secondary business.

Speaker:

And those who see secondary, they don't, many of them don't see fifth year in

Speaker:

the business because they just keep on trying to do all things by themselves,

Speaker:

not getting any help or resources and trying to do everything on their own.

Speaker:

And as a solopreneur, we are wearing so many hats.

Speaker:

And you have really limited budget and when you are doing tasks like graphic

Speaker:

design, putting on social media, you feel okay, you are very busy.

Speaker:

That is not productive because as a solopreneur, you are CEO of your business,

Speaker:

but you are also admin of your business.

Speaker:

So as a CEO, you can surely draw quarter of million tax salary, but

Speaker:

as an admin, how much you're paying like maybe, I don't know the rate,

Speaker:

maybe like 10, 20, 30 per hour.

Speaker:

So when you're doing those kind of tasks, you are actually downgrading your means,

Speaker:

basically qualities and your assets.

Speaker:

And that's where actually I really felt.

Speaker:

I should be doing the things which only I can do and I should delegate

Speaker:

the things which are really at that level which where I can hire people

Speaker:

something like for that trade.

Speaker:

And basically I can downgrade and that's why actually I was looking for virtual

Speaker:

assistant and I looked at various places.

Speaker:

I look at freelancer.

Speaker:

com, Upwork and Fiverr and all and their bio said something.

Speaker:

But when they started working with me, it was a totally different picture.

Speaker:

And I said, it was like that I was training them and still I was paying them.

Speaker:

And it was so frustrating and when I came across with your services, it was a really

Speaker:

breeze because the VA came to me was fully trained and it was such a blessing means

Speaker:

basically of course you cannot expect perfect VA because you are not perfect.

Speaker:

No human being is perfect.

Speaker:

And my mentor always said that when you become perfect, God will call you.

Speaker:

So it is better to be imperfect over here.

Speaker:

So don't expect any perfect VA, but you can have perfect relationship

Speaker:

with each other and you can have great communication with each other.

Speaker:

And that's where actually I found your services and the first way I started

Speaker:

working with her means, Oh my goodness.

Speaker:

And I really liked her attitude.

Speaker:

I liked everything.

Speaker:

Same totally.

Speaker:

Satisfied and blessed and I'm planning to hire one more because I have a lot

Speaker:

of work and I'm this is not like that because it's not like that I'm hiring a

Speaker:

freelancer from some companies like Fiverr or freelancer and I'm trying to train

Speaker:

them and even after one or two months nothing to show for I just wasted my time

Speaker:

I said I'm hiring you to save my time but I'm putting more time in training you

Speaker:

and still nothing to show for You So all those experiences are really totally gone.

Speaker:

They are gone.

Speaker:

And I really recommend for solopreneur means you have many, many hats, but make

Speaker:

sure you wear a good hat, tight hat.

Speaker:

Most of the time, make sure to wear president's hat, make sure to wear

Speaker:

CFO's hat, make sure to wear CEO's hats instead of social media manager's hats or

Speaker:

admin's hats or graphic manager's hats.

Speaker:

No, those tasks you can surely delegate.

Speaker:

So I love this conversation because you are so right.

Speaker:

Jeannie and I were talking, we've kind of had this conversation for

Speaker:

the past few days about when it comes to building your business, like you

Speaker:

have a container of time, right?

Speaker:

And you need to put those big rocks in first, right?

Speaker:

Those things that are actually going to do well in your business.

Speaker:

And then you put the pebbles in and then you put the sand in.

Speaker:

The problem for so many people is the sand is easy and it's comfortable.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah, they put that in first.

Speaker:

So they spend doing admin things or graphic design and it's busy work,

Speaker:

but it's not going to get them to a salary of 250, 000, like you said.

Speaker:

And so I love that analogy of, if you are going to be the admin in your

Speaker:

business, you are going to earn what an admin would earn, which is 50, 000.

Speaker:

But if you are going to actually wear the CEO hat and the

Speaker:

CFO hat, the president hat.

Speaker:

That's how you start to move that business.

Speaker:

So you are earning a quarter of a million dollars a year.

Speaker:

I think that is just very direct and it's so true.

Speaker:

And also you will avoid burnout because you just keep on doing so

Speaker:

many things and you just have a limited, uh, yeah, container of time.

Speaker:

And basically you, many times solo programmers, they quit their 40 hour job

Speaker:

to work 80 hours over their business.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And that's how they burn out.

Speaker:

And many solopreneurs, they quit first year because of that, the burnout.

Speaker:

So when you have someone actually helping and taking these repetitive tasks and

Speaker:

yeah, all these tasks, yeah, basically you get your life back because yeah, you can

Speaker:

make money again, but you cannot actually bring back the life which is gone.

Speaker:

So time is really precious and you have only one life to live.

Speaker:

So why not to live to the fullest?

Speaker:

Yeah, and so your story was the same as our story, like, when you were

Speaker:

hiring off of fiber and freelancer, you were trying to get these people

Speaker:

in to help you in your business.

Speaker:

It was more, you spent more time than it was worth.

Speaker:

Like you said, you were paying to train them.

Speaker:

And we hear that so often from people and Jeannie and I started

Speaker:

outsourcing 16 years ago overseas.

Speaker:

And we jokingly like to say, you If it could be done

Speaker:

wrong, we did it wrong, right?

Speaker:

And so that whole process, so that we don't have to do that.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And what would happen is because we stayed with it for so long, because she

Speaker:

needed a lot of people for her agency.

Speaker:

We did start to create systems and processes.

Speaker:

We did start to get better at things and that really, that

Speaker:

really changed things for us.

Speaker:

But again.

Speaker:

We still joke about some of the things we did wrong or or some of

Speaker:

the time we wasted in the beginning when we didn't know what we were

Speaker:

doing when we were first outsourcing.

Speaker:

So it's so cool.

Speaker:

Like, when people share their experience, but with with you, you've now had the

Speaker:

opportunity to have a totally different experience to have a virtual assistant

Speaker:

who was already interviewed and vetted and trained and to have the structure.

Speaker:

Yes, I, as far as I'm in the business.

Speaker:

You are going to work for me and this is not really like one month, two

Speaker:

months and nothing is working out and fire and look for someone else.

Speaker:

No means we are working for so long and means basically she's happy.

Speaker:

I am happy and we just work for each other.

Speaker:

Even if she's such a blessing, even she just wanted to take a day off.

Speaker:

She asked me, should I take?

Speaker:

I said, of course you go ahead and take a day off.

Speaker:

I remember her birthday actually came on Sunday.

Speaker:

So I told her it is your birthday.

Speaker:

You should take day off.

Speaker:

She said, no, I don't need to.

Speaker:

So she didn't take a day off.

Speaker:

So much of understanding.

Speaker:

And yeah, for her birthday, actually I sent her some nice gift.

Speaker:

What I would give for my daughter, which I consider her as my daughter only.

Speaker:

And she was so delighted.

Speaker:

She said, this is the most expensive gift I ever got in my life.

Speaker:

So dollar goes really far.

Speaker:

So just keep them happy.

Speaker:

And it really doesn't take too much to keep them happy.

Speaker:

It just.

Speaker:

Treat them like you are a assistant since I always tell her, you are not

Speaker:

even my assistant, you are my partner.

Speaker:

And I tell her that as I start creating more and more profit, you will get,

Speaker:

yeah, basically share of the profit.

Speaker:

That's so fantastic.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

You brought up a point about, I think a lot of people spend a lot of time

Speaker:

trying to find the right person.

Speaker:

To bring on their team, which is great, but I think they forget about once they

Speaker:

bring them on now, what do they do?

Speaker:

Like you said, I don't want to spend all my time training them.

Speaker:

So for you as a smart business owner, it was better to bring someone on

Speaker:

who was already trained, then you can just hit the ground running.

Speaker:

There's going to be some communication and you know, some get to know you time.

Speaker:

But overall you're not, you don't have to teach them things like

Speaker:

video editing or graphic design.

Speaker:

They already know that.

Speaker:

My YouTube channel was sleeping and I think I got hundreds of

Speaker:

new subscribers just last month.

Speaker:

Wow, that's fantastic.

Speaker:

It was totally sleeping and now I just miss basically she creates a

Speaker:

presentation I do the Facebook live, Instagram live, TikTok live and then

Speaker:

she actually edits and puts it on YouTube and then we share it everywhere.

Speaker:

She creates excellent blogs and all and I'm getting hundreds

Speaker:

and hundreds of subscribers.

Speaker:

It was totally sleepy and then suddenly woke up and now it is

Speaker:

all active and Just excited.

Speaker:

That's fantastic.

Speaker:

And as a business owner, I think it's so awesome because you feel the same

Speaker:

way Jeannie and I feel, which was why you were such a good connection.

Speaker:

A good connection to work with us is because you understand the

Speaker:

importance of creating value for people, creating content that truly

Speaker:

helps people and you serve people.

Speaker:

And when that happens.

Speaker:

They do subscribe, they do book calls with you, they do

Speaker:

sign up for your lead magnets.

Speaker:

So I think that's so important for people to understand is, it's about

Speaker:

the content that you're creating.

Speaker:

It's about the virtual assistant that is helping you produce the content.

Speaker:

And then it's the business owner.

Speaker:

It's about all of us focusing on what's going to grow the

Speaker:

business and use our time wisely.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

And let me tell you one thing I came across, see, I'm always

Speaker:

looking what is there in the market.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

There are a couple of e courses I came across that teach about video marketing.

Speaker:

So they had like two weeks of challenge.

Speaker:

So basically they teach you what kind of videos you can create and templates

Speaker:

and scripts and how to edit and all.

Speaker:

And those courses are like three months, six months courses, and they range 5, 000

Speaker:

to 10, 000 just to take those courses.

Speaker:

And once I take, I spend that much of money.

Speaker:

I take those courses.

Speaker:

After that, I have to do everything, means they're not

Speaker:

providing me any VA or anything.

Speaker:

I have to edit the video, I have to create the video, I have to do all the work.

Speaker:

So means if I'm investing like five, 10, 000, after that, I'm

Speaker:

actually doing all the work.

Speaker:

So where I'm spending my time and here, yeah, of course there is

Speaker:

some investment onboarding when we get high, yeah, VA from you.

Speaker:

But after that means all my load is totally taken off.

Speaker:

Means basically everything is shifted on her shoulder.

Speaker:

I actually promote your services so much because I have a good experience.

Speaker:

And they say, Oh, this is onboarding, uh, investment so much.

Speaker:

Oh, I cannot do that.

Speaker:

Yeah, but you go out and take, uh, this hundreds, thousands of dollars worth

Speaker:

of e courses just for video marketing.

Speaker:

And after that, you have to do everything.

Speaker:

What is the point?

Speaker:

Yeah, no, that's such a great point.

Speaker:

I personally hadn't actually thought about that, but yeah, that makes total sense.

Speaker:

You, you learn about video marketing, but then.

Speaker:

At the end of the day, you not only have to record the video, but

Speaker:

then you've gotta edit the video.

Speaker:

You've gotta create the, or find the B roll and insert it in there, and the

Speaker:

end screens and all the best practices that, and that's just for you two.

Speaker:

And the issue score for every video she, uh, posted for me,

Speaker:

that's a hundred person u score.

Speaker:

Miss that even i, I didn't record because for me, actually, I love podcasting.

Speaker:

I love podcasting.

Speaker:

I love videos.

Speaker:

I love everything.

Speaker:

But the publishing and all that was so much for me.

Speaker:

So what I would do, I feel I would do lots of podcast episode

Speaker:

and publish it over the weekend.

Speaker:

And then I used to feel such a chore.

Speaker:

Oh my goodness.

Speaker:

Oh, I have to publish four episodes, five episodes.

Speaker:

No, I really means that actually all the cloud is gone.

Speaker:

I really enjoy what, yeah, what I do.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

I just keep on doing whatever I'm loving it.

Speaker:

That is so awesome.

Speaker:

It's so funny because when we're vetting the virtual assistants before we invite

Speaker:

them into our training portal, and then before we put them into our paid

Speaker:

internship, we're making sure that they're creative, they're great graphic

Speaker:

designers, they're great video editors.

Speaker:

But what's interesting is most of them have not had a whole

Speaker:

lot of experience with SEO and proper all the best practices.

Speaker:

And so that has been something.

Speaker:

It's been so amazing to watch that embrace that and to love learning

Speaker:

about the SEO, because that stuff is time consuming and you have to get it

Speaker:

all right when you upload the video.

Speaker:

So, and that has been 1 of the things that we've heard from a lot of the virtual

Speaker:

assistants who graduate from our paid internship before they go to work for a

Speaker:

client is that they love the SEO side.

Speaker:

And that is, that's fantastic because we have a lot of clients who have channels

Speaker:

that have got a lot of content there, but there was nothing ever done for SEO.

Speaker:

So their virtual assistant can go back and create new titles and

Speaker:

thumbnails and tags and descriptions.

Speaker:

So not only does the title he is so important, the hook is so important

Speaker:

because people are scrolling, how are they going to stop?

Speaker:

So the hook is important.

Speaker:

Even the thumbnail is important.

Speaker:

There's so many factors and they take care of everything.

Speaker:

Yeah, and they also love learning how to use AI.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

It's such an asset to, you don't necessarily want to use it verbatim,

Speaker:

but it's definitely something to get your creativity going, to give

Speaker:

you some terminology, maybe some words that you hadn't thought of.

Speaker:

But, ooh, I love that phrase.

Speaker:

And let's put it into the SEO and let's see if it works with this video.

Speaker:

So I know that they always say that they love that part as well.

Speaker:

And that's one of the things they're always asking for learning more

Speaker:

about how to use AI, because a lot of people think, Oh, well, AI is

Speaker:

going to replace virtual assistants.

Speaker:

That's not true.

Speaker:

People who are smart are going to have virtual assistants who

Speaker:

are well trained to use AI.

Speaker:

And so with us planning into 2024.

Speaker:

It is looking at what are all the new tools, AI tools that are coming, and

Speaker:

which ones are the most important for us to train the virtual assistants on

Speaker:

so that they can be more productive when they go to work for our clients.

Speaker:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker:

Yeah, because actually.

Speaker:

I was telling her about transcriptions and all that.

Speaker:

And she's so smart.

Speaker:

She said, Oh, actually, AI handles everything.

Speaker:

I'm just using that.

Speaker:

I said, okay.

Speaker:

I didn't even have to teach her.

Speaker:

She's just figured it out and she has been using it.

Speaker:

So Sue, if you were going to, and I know you do a lot of coaching, so I know you're

Speaker:

already working with business owners, but if you were talking about hiring

Speaker:

a virtual assistant, who's trained and maybe investing in a virtual assistant.

Speaker:

People's budgets are tight, but investing in getting the help as soon as you can.

Speaker:

What would your advice be to someone who is starting out?

Speaker:

If you could tell them one thing that could really change their business

Speaker:

as far as moving forward quickly.

Speaker:

I would say don't delay because the more and more you delay, the more and more

Speaker:

you will be delaying your success and progress because get started at ASAP.

Speaker:

That is.

Speaker:

It is so vital.

Speaker:

It is so needed.

Speaker:

It is just, it is just impossible to do everything on your own.

Speaker:

It is just impossible.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Because you might be saying, okay, someone is saying that, okay, I work only five

Speaker:

hours per week, 20 hours per week, but you haven't seen how many years have

Speaker:

been there working on the business.

Speaker:

And they didn't say that in their first year of business or even

Speaker:

fifth year of their business.

Speaker:

They might be saying in their 15th years of the business, and you

Speaker:

don't know how many people are already working for them, right?

Speaker:

They don't mention that.

Speaker:

So just don't go for that.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Just take action immediately.

Speaker:

Don't delay.

Speaker:

That is what I would say.

Speaker:

And yeah, trained virtual assistant and means and guarantee.

Speaker:

So you can give guarantee, right?

Speaker:

If it doesn't suit and.

Speaker:

If they don't follow the workflow, whatever is mentioned and also

Speaker:

all those things, everything is there, so why to delay?

Speaker:

It is impossible to do everything on your own.

Speaker:

It is impossible.

Speaker:

It is a smart choice to have a virtual assistant.

Speaker:

Sue, thank you so much.

Speaker:

I know you have a free gift for everyone who's here today.

Speaker:

You do.

Speaker:

It's Launch Your Way to Quick Cash, a step by step guide to creating an

Speaker:

effective Oh, yeah, that also, by the way, I taught her lead magnet.

Speaker:

And after that, she has been creating lead magnet because whenever we

Speaker:

have, uh, actually our presentation.

Speaker:

So presentation is broken into everything.

Speaker:

So, uh, I have a video presentation, but she makes video PDF of the same.

Speaker:

And then she makes actually lead magnet out of that.

Speaker:

And so this is also again.

Speaker:

Smart.

Speaker:

So every presentation actually gives me one lead magnet automatically here.

Speaker:

This particularly three B I'm giving you because I want people to make money now.

Speaker:

No, everybody's talking about 20, 24 goals.

Speaker:

It is, right?

Speaker:

It is not bad.

Speaker:

Of course, you have to have goals for 2024, but when people are

Speaker:

doing shopping, especially digital shopping, software shopping.

Speaker:

Everybody is doing you shopping during November and December.

Speaker:

80 percent of that kind of shopping is done in November and December.

Speaker:

So, I want people to make money right now.

Speaker:

So, this lead magnet will tell you how you can make a digital course

Speaker:

in just 1 week and you can sell it within 4 weeks and make 60K because

Speaker:

I want people to make at least 60K in the remaining whatever weeks 2023.

Speaker:

And it's really everything all the proven road map is guaranteed and

Speaker:

say everything is tested and proven.

Speaker:

So you just follow it and make sure you are profitable this year.

Speaker:

And then, of course, take proper action in 2024.

Speaker:

I'm pretty sure you'll listen to me and go for a train here.

Speaker:

For sure.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

So we'll put a link for this in the show notes and we'll also add

Speaker:

a link to Sue's YouTube channel and a way to connect with her.

Speaker:

So Sue, we are so excited you were here today and we're so excited that.

Speaker:

We did connect with you and that you became a client.

Speaker:

We, we always feel so much joy when we have really awesome clients

Speaker:

like you who teach, who treat their virtual students really well.

Speaker:

Both ways means because you provided me actually all the.

Speaker:

I needed whatever my business needed to succeed.

Speaker:

And I think you are a tagline is really understatement.

Speaker:

Your tagline says that double your income, but I think it is not double your income.

Speaker:

It is made for many solopreneurs.

Speaker:

It might be just start making.

Speaker:

Uh, some income or even people, or you can actually add whatever number.

Speaker:

So if you're a tagline, I really feel it is really under promised,

Speaker:

but it is always better to have under promise and over deliver.

Speaker:

So I appreciate that.

Speaker:

Thank you so much, Sue.

Speaker:

Uh, it's always a pleasure to see you and we love seeing you every

Speaker:

week in our weekly coaching calls.

Speaker:

Um, yeah, I love that too, because I learn a lot, actually many

Speaker:

times I may not have questions.

Speaker:

But still I come over there because I learn a lot from all

Speaker:

other basically fellow members.

Speaker:

Many times, even I may have those questions, but I may not ask you,

Speaker:

but they ask you and I get them.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I don't like to miss those calls at all.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Thank you for being here.

Speaker:

We really appreciate this time with you, and we think it's

Speaker:

going to help a lot of people.

Speaker:

So thank you.

Speaker:

Take care.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Bye.
