Winter weather is today's main story.

The Weather Prediction center flags a high probability for impactful snow in parts of the Great Lakes and Interior Northeast through Saturday.

While excessive rainfall is not a concern, the Storm Prediction center keeps severe thunderstorm probabilities at zero today in Alaska.

Multiple winter storm and blizzard warnings remain active across Interior and western zones.

The National Hurricane center reports no tropical cyclones in either basin.

USGS shows routine small earthquakes in Alaska, Hawaii and California over the past 24 hours.

No significant domestic impacts noted.

Let's run through the states Alaska Winter hazards continue the Fairbanks office maintains winter storm warnings today for portions of the Middle and Lower Yukon, Inoko Valleys and the southern eastern Alaska range with 4 to 10 inches of snow and gusts to 40 mph.

A blizzard warning persists for the Bering strait Coast and St. Lawrence island into Saturday with whiteout conditions possible in south central.

Anchorage warns that mixed precipitation over snow may create slick roads in the Susitna Valley through tonight.

California Morning Dense fog advisories are in effect for parts of the Central Valley and Bay Area valleys.

Farther south.

San Diego highlights another round of Santa Ana winds on Saturday with 30-40 mph gusts in the mountain passes.

No significant precipitation is expected statewide today.

Michigan Lake effect and system snow continue today into Saturday.

Winter weather advisories remain in effect for the western and central Lower Peninsula, including Muskegon, Ottawa, Kent, Allegan and Van Buren counties with 2 to 4 inches and locally higher totals in northern lower and eastern upper Michigan.

Additional 4 to 6 inches are possible in favored bands near the Straits and western Mackinac County.

New York Focused Lake effect continues east of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.

A winter storm warning stays up for Wayne, northern Cayuga and Oswego counties through early afternoon.

Localized heavy bands will cause near zero visibility and rapid accumulations elsewhere.

Across western New York, scattered snow showers persist with slick spots.

North Dakota High winds and bursts of snow are the main hazards.

High wind warnings advisories cover much of Central and Western ND through this evening.

Gusts 45 to 55 mph may produce areas of blowing snow with brief low visibility.

Wind chills drop well below zero tonight into Saturday morning.

Pennsylvania Wintry weather expands tonight.

Winter weather advisories begin this evening for portions of northwest and central PA generally 1 to 4 inches by late Saturday, with heavier snow showers or squalls possible Saturday afternoon and evening.

South Dakota Winter weather advisories continue today across central and northeast sd including Brown Spink, Coatington and Grant counties.

Texas A strong cold front sweeps south today.

Behind it, gusty north winds spread across central and south central Texas.

The Panhandles see a low chance of light snow early Saturday with minor accumulations.

Expect a widespread freeze by Sunday morning for portions of the hill country and I35 corridor.

Northern Wisconsin Continues under a winter storm warning for heavy lake effect snow in Iron county through Saturday midday.

Additional 2 to 4 inches today.

Higher north of Hurley.

Elsewhere, light snow and slick travel are possible in the east this morning under short fused advisories.

Wyoming Dangerous crosswinds continue.

High wind warnings remain in effect for the Laramie Valley, north Snowy Range foothills and portions of Laramie Cheyenne areas with gusts up to 70-75 mph.

Blowing snow is possible in wind prone corridors.

All other states have no significant updates in the last 24 hours.
