Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another episode of health hack as I continue talking about the importance of sleep as it relates to all aspects of your life, and today I want to talk to you about sleep and exercise. Both are obviously important to our health and well being. And I wanted to share with you how sleep improves your exercise and the outcomes of your exercise because sleep results in enhanced athletic performance and physical endurance, which means you can actually last longer in your workouts when you get more sleep. It also results in faster muscle recovery and growth, which are the outcomes you're looking for with your exercise. It helps an increased can coordination, balance and motor skills and that might not be something you thought about. And of course, that's really important because that reduces your risk of accidents and injuries due to having improved alertness and reaction times because of your good quality sleep. So you need both don't discount one over the other. You need to look at your schedule and make sure that you're getting the right amount of sleep, and that you're getting enough movement in your day for what your body needs.
