0:00:00 - (SAM): You. Hey, everyone, and welcome to the building a business episode of building the abundant woman. And so my encouragement to you today is three things we're going to go over is how you can do this just like I did. I'm going to share my story. I'm going to share the who, the when, the how of how I got started in this, and I'm going to share that with you so you guys can get connected, get started. If this is what's on your heart, then I hope it blesses you in so many ways.
0:00:36 - (SAM): So first, I just wanted to address the elephant in the room of the change of the podcast name. And so with that name change, I started digital abundance in October of 2023. I started the more than mom podcast in May of 2023. And when I really got launched into digital abundance, I realized that my podcast wasn't really in alignment with what I was feeling, with what I was wanting out of this. And so I changed the podcast to the building the abundant woman. Because if you're listening to this podcast, you're wanting to build, you're wanting to grow.
0:01:16 - (SAM): You're also wanting to grow your family and your mindset in what it is that you are trying to achieve. So when I opened digital abundance, I actually started building websites in 2016. And with a move to Georgia, a change of career, two children, and I'm finally back into it. And what I've noticed is it has opened me up more abundantly to opportunities, to amazing people, as well as to a mindset full of gratitude.
0:01:48 - (SAM): And so let's hop in into why I got started. Who I wanted to serve because I loved the female entrepreneurs that pushed me back into doing websites. I wanted to serve and give back to not only just female entrepreneurs specifically, but just those who were wanting to build businesses with other women by their side, wanted to collaborate, that wanted to grow together and make this possible. And so through that, I got very specific on who that woman was.
0:02:23 - (SAM): I want to serve somebody in my age range. So I typically serve female entrepreneurs who have a business. I also serve people who have new businesses. And that's what you're here for today, is to learn as well. But I typically serve 25 to 45 female entrepreneurs who are building their businesses from home in order to grow and scale through digital marketing strategy. And so what that looks like is actually getting connected with female entrepreneurs, getting my messaging clear to those female entrepreneurs and assisting them in ways through the podcast, through this YouTube that you're watching.
0:03:05 - (SAM): So that way we can also find actionable tips from people who are doing really great in their industries, and so that way we can grow and do better and support women. Okay? So as we know in the tech field, it is not largely woman driven and it's not really woman served either. So that was also something huge on my heart, was to serve females in a way that teaches them, educates them about their marketing strategy, about their websites, about their social media, about their automations and things like that, is to help them grow in that capacity.
0:03:42 - (SAM): So that way they would understand. And it's like giving a man a piece of bread. You'll feed him for today, but if you teach him how to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime. So I very much have. That mentality is I want people to understand how their business is working so that way they can go scale and be more profitable as well. So when could I run this business? I'm sure you're sitting here thinking to yourself, well, I've got time while the kids are in school, maybe, or maybe you currently work and you have like a couple of extra hours on the weekend to maybe make this happen.
0:04:18 - (SAM): Well, for me, I currently work part time hours at our chiropractic office, so we also own a chiropractic office, but my children are home schooled, so they are here 24/7 if you're wondering how I got away with filming this today, shout out to my wonderful husband who's taking them to the coffee shop so I could have a couple of hours to get all this done. And we just have to make that happen together. He gets some alone time with them, which is really great because obviously I see them more often than he does. So it gives them some alone time to build that father child bond together as well.
0:04:55 - (SAM): So if you're wondering when you're going to get those done, it's something you have to make a priority. It's not something you can walk in that I'm like, oh, I'll work on it when I have time. It's either got to be a priority or it's not. I'm not saying put it over the top of your family. I'm not saying put it over the top of your marriage. I'm telling you that if you pray to God, I'm a believer, you're going to hear about my faith on this podcast. So here it is.
0:05:20 - (SAM): But you just have to pray to God, give me the wisdom and the guidance to sit here and say, when can I fulfill this call that you've placed on my heart to go and do this? And so that's something you really have to get connected with him is in terms of being in gratitude. Because a lot of times for me, it was like, how am I going to get this done? How am I going to get this done? Well, for me it was. I had to step back and look at my mindset about my business.
0:05:49 - (SAM): This is something I wanted, but not at the detriment of my family or at the detriment of my marriage. This was something that I felt very called to do and that God gave me this amazing talent that he had for me to go and serve people with it. So you have to understand what that calling is for you and how to make it a priority. Because if you treat it like a hobby, it's always going to be a hobby, but if you treat it like a priority, you can build your business.
0:06:18 - (SAM): And so for us, it was just like, how could I run the business? I got really strategic with my time. I set like, hey, these are my office hours. These are times I can talk to people. I communicate with my husband a lot. Like, hey, I have a website consult. I have a social media consult this morning from 1030 to eleven. And I'm going to need to go upstairs, have that consultation, and you're going to have to be down here with the kids. And it's like, okay.
0:06:46 - (SAM): And so I just let him know what's coming up for me in the week so that way we can be prepared. And I think that I understand if you don't have a supportive spouse, but you can still make it work with or without a supportive spouse. And so that's something you really have to evaluate. It's like if you do have a supportive spouse, communicate well, communicate why you're doing this, why you feel this calling to start this business or grow and scale this business, whatever that looks like for you, that you need to actually really focus on that.
0:07:21 - (SAM): So that way you can get your ducks in a row with the how you're going to do this. Okay, so my ways of how you can get started immediately start a new Instagram page and start talking to that ideal person. Who do you want to buy your product? Who do you want to serve with your business? Let them know one who you are, why they would be specialized to be helped by you and make it about them. It's always what's in it for them.
0:07:54 - (SAM): Because the second you start to make it about you and how excited you are about your business is the second that it turns them away. And so for me especially, you can follow me on Instagram. I'm at build your brand with Sam and everything I talk about is what my client could potentially be going through. And you don't have to have a massive following. You really don't. I don't have a huge following and that's like, I am totally secure in my business with the follower count that I have. It's that you're consistently talking to the person that you want to be talking to that can afford your services or product and that your brand resonates well with them.
0:08:40 - (SAM): So if that's something that you're struggling, like, hey, I don't even know how to talk to these people or I built a business, I'm not getting any traction. You need to get really clear on your ideal customer and your customer's journey within your business. Now, for $17, if you're on YouTube or if you're like, go find me on Instagram, send me a DM and just dm me customer, I'll send you the link to my confident customers digital download. It's a really great guide.
0:09:10 - (SAM): It walks you through your brand values, it walks you through your customer journey, your ideal client, how they feel, how they interact with your brand. So it's a really great place to start to figure out who you're communicating with and then you utilize that and start to make content around what you put in that guide. So definitely reach out to me on that and I'll get that straight over to you. And so from there, you know the who.
0:09:41 - (SAM): You have to sit down and prioritize the time to make this business happen. And you know how you can get started. You can listen to my podcast, you can listen to go follow me on Instagram, all that good stuff. I'm always sharing and I have the moms on a mission Facebook group. I'm dropping questions. All that good stuff in that group, too. So if you want to just dm me mom, I'll send you the link to that group.
0:10:07 - (SAM): But that is what you need to do is get into a flow of understanding. One, who these people are, how you can serve them, how your brand resonates with them. Because you want to use branding. Obviously, if you're targeting more of a higher income client, you want to use branding that's going to resonate with them versus maybe with someone who's not looking for that high ticket offer. So you just want to make sure that you're resonating well with that person, you communicate with them well and you serve them well.
0:10:41 - (SAM): And so when you start building that business, everything's going to come into play in terms of I've always wanted to help with x and through x I can serve y. That's the layout. Through websites, I can serve female entrepreneurs who need to grow and scale their business without being in their dms on their phone searching for leads all the time. Because I tell my clients all the time, they come to me and they're like, I'm sending this many messages a day, I'm trying to connect with people. I spend all day on my phone. I feel like I'm spinning my wheels.
0:11:19 - (SAM): I'm like, well, how did you get to me? And they're like, well, I saw your stuff on Instagram, I started following you and I booked my call. I'm like, exactly. So when you communicate what you do really well and you are resonating with that client, every person who has booked a call with me since I started my business has done it themselves. I haven't had to chase any of these people down. Maybe I knew them from some places, but it's not like I was sitting there like chasing them down as leads.
0:11:50 - (SAM): And so that's what I ultimately teach how to get really clear. I also have a really great guide. It's not live yet, so don't worry about it. I'll talk about it in later episodes. Talk about change the way you talk. And so from there I talk about how your content and your copy of your website, your emails, all that stuff is so vitally important to converting your ideal client. Because a lot of the way I talk online is what resonates, is what gets people to follow, is what gets them to like and engage and book their call.
0:12:26 - (SAM): And so I hope you guys are having an amazing day. I will catch you next time. We're going to do these episodes every Monday. They're going to drop every Monday from now on. And I'm going to be dropping some tips, things you can do to not only build your business, we're going to talk some marketing strategy. I'm going to talk about how to keep yourself healthy mentally and physically, as well as the relatability of struggling and juggling motherhood all within all of this, us. So you guys have a great rest of your day and we'll see you next time.
