When it comes to remodeling or renovating your home there is a lot to know and we have gotcha covered.

Speaker B

This is around the House.

Speaker C

Welcome to the Round the House show.

Speaker C

The next generation of home improvement.

Speaker C

I'm Eric G.

Speaker C

Welcome to the midweek update.

Speaker C

This is where we talk about the stuff that didn't make it into this week's show and next weekend's show.

Speaker C

This hour is brought to you by our friends at Monument Grills.

Speaker C

Check them out@monument grills.com I love it when things work out and hopefully this does work out.

Speaker C

I'm on the cusp of it.

Speaker C

I'm here in Portland, Oregon and we got a big snow and ice storm hitting Thursday, Friday this week and I have a new partnership that I'm working with on some segments with my friends over atchallpower equipment.com and I love these guys.

Speaker C

They're a great company to work with and showing up here this morning I'm waiting for the knock on the door.

Speaker C

I got a delivery truck of a brand new 12,000 watt electric star tri fuel generator with the CO shield which has that carbon monoxide auto shut off and so super cool.

Speaker C

I'm super excited about that.

Speaker C

It's one of those things that's going to be great but just in time.

Speaker C

They're saying we'll probably have ice power outages tomorrow and I am so happy to have something that I don't have to keep going to get gas with because that was one of the problems I had.

Speaker C

I had a really nice generator but it was fuel injected gas and when I got it the Trifuel wasn't as big as it is now.

Speaker C

These guys didn't.

Speaker C

The other company that I had didn't make a Trifuel and being fuel injected I couldn't put a conversion carburetor kit on it because it's fuel injected.

Speaker C

So there is nothing I could do about it.

Speaker C

So I'm excited to get this thing installed and I might be just get it at least put together so I could get it running, get it tapped in and get a temporary at least so I could put it into my system because I'm going to have to run a gas line and do some other stuff.

Speaker C

But with the cord and stuff and the hose they give you I can actually get off from the, from one of my outlets here that I put in on the back.

Speaker C

I can actually work that out so I can plug it into my transfer switch and do it easily.

Speaker C

So I think I'm gonna have to put that Together here real quick today.

Speaker C

But I tell you what, it's gonna be a huge difference because one, it powers a lot more.

Speaker C

So I can pretty much run my entire house off of this thing Because I'm natural gas heat, so I can do that.

Speaker C

So it's perfect for getting ready for that big storm.

Speaker C

So again, that's one of those be prepared things.

Speaker C

But I'll show you that in an upcoming segment of around the House Northwest where we talk about that.

Speaker C

It'll be pretty cool.

Speaker C

We'll have some fun.

Speaker C

And using natural gas, it basically produces 12,500 starting watts and 10,000 running watts.

Speaker C

So it's pretty cool.

Speaker C

They give a quick connect on all the right stuff on it.

Speaker C

So I'm pretty excited with that.

Speaker C

If I really needed the power, I could run gasoline.

Speaker C

Because that's one thing to think about when you're talking generators is natural gas puts out a lower power ratio than the gasoline.

Speaker C

The generator is 12,5 starting watts.

Speaker C

10, 10,000 running watts.

Speaker C

Where gasoline, it's 15,012 running.

Speaker C

So there's a little bit different.

Speaker C

And though it will run for nine hours at a 50% load, what I realized with my other one, and that's a great fuel efficiency, the other one is pretty fuel efficient as well.

Speaker C

But the problem was that I really.

Speaker C

I'd go to bed and I'd have to get up in the morning and go put gas in it because I'd fill it up and it was just getting to be a headache to do it correctly.

Speaker C

So something that was an issue.

Speaker C

And I'm happy that this thing is showing up just in the nick of time.

Speaker C

So we'll see some stuff coming up.

Speaker C

Excited to show you guys what this thing will do.

Speaker C

We have.

Speaker C

Before I get into something else here, I wanted to say there are some big recalls out there.

Speaker C

And we touch on recalls in the show.

Speaker C

And there was a handful of them over this last week that I want to bring in.

Speaker C

So Deuce and Bobcat North America recalls the Bobcat and Steiner air effects finish mower deck attachments due to a crush hazard.

Speaker C

So there's only about 552 of those.

Speaker C

But locking pins is the issue.

Speaker C

And get a hold of them at Bobcat.

Speaker C

You can find all these things@cpsc.gov recalls another one that's big.

Speaker C

Pella recalls sliding patio doors and windows due to battery ingestion hazard.

Speaker C

Violation of Reese's Law federal safety regulations for consumer products with button cell batteries.

Speaker C

So the recall products violate the mandatory federal regulations for consumer products containing those little button Cell or coin batteries.

Speaker C

Because the sliding door sensor panel and the Windows remote control have button cell batteries that can be easily accessed by children.

Speaker C

They want you to remove those and keep them away from kids, all that stuff.

Speaker C

There's about 340 of them out there.

Speaker C

One of the biggest ones I see, though, is LG recalling electric ranges due to fire hazard.

Speaker C

Front mounted knobs on the recalled ranges can be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets posing a fire hazard.

Speaker C

And it's basically what they're doing.

Speaker C

And this is probably one of the dumbest recalls.

Speaker C

Consumers should contact LG for a free warning label and placement instructions.

Speaker C

And it says, make sure and use the lockout when you're not using the range.

Speaker C

I'm like, are you kidding me?

Speaker C

No one is.

Speaker C

If there's a sticker there, no one is going to use a lockout on there unless they've got kids and they're a parent and they're like, okay, I don't want the kids to burn the house down.

Speaker C

But, wow, that needs a redesign.

Speaker C

Putting a sticker.

Speaker C

That's not going to happen.

Speaker C

It's just.

Speaker C

It's crazy what's going on with that.

Speaker C

That's just.

Speaker C

Okay, redesign the range.

Speaker C

Sorry.

Speaker C

I know there's a half a million of them out there, but that makes no sense to me.

Speaker C

We're gonna put a sticker on it.

Speaker C

That'll fix it.

Speaker C

Now, this brings me to the subject, and I'm gonna do this.

Speaker C

I'm gonna really do this.

Speaker C

This is something I've wanted to do.

Speaker C

There are these stove cover boards for gas and electric cooktops.

Speaker C

They're a raised cutting board with legs and juice grooves that are about 50 bucks that are meant to go over the top of your range.

Speaker C

This is the most insane thing you could use in your kitchen.

Speaker C

And they sell them on Amazon.

Speaker C

We have a recall on a range because if you bump the knob or a dog jumps up, puts its paw on there, looking to the food, it can turn the range on.

Speaker C

It's not a big deal.

Speaker C

If you don't have anything on your range, you just got a burner on.

Speaker C

But holy smokes, if you're putting a cutting board on your cooking service, that is absolutely wild, and that is a guaranteed easy route to burning your house down.

Speaker C

So anybody doing these noodle boards, using these noodle boards, take them away.

Speaker C

Don't ever put anything that is flammable on the stovetop.

Speaker C

And yes, anything wood is super flammable.

Speaker C

So I have a segment I'm gonna do here.

Speaker C

Pretty soon, we're gonna show you how this works and we'll show you how that is.

Speaker C

And I'm excited to do it.

Speaker C

So let's stay tuned for that one.

Speaker C

That's something I'm working on putting together.

Speaker C

Something I'm working on putting together.

Speaker C

All right, guys, we are running out of time here.

Speaker C

We got a great show coming up this weekend and then the following weekend.

Speaker C

Oh, man.

Speaker C

We're coming up on the International Builders Show, Design and construction week.

Speaker C

And I got some big stuff while I'm out over there going.

Speaker C

Can't wait to show you all the new stuff.

Speaker C

I'm going to be doing a lot of stuff, showing what's going around, what you're going to see out there.

Speaker C

This is the premier event of the world for kitchen bath design and construction.

Speaker C

Everything from cabinet knobs to framing to siding to garage doors to windows.

Speaker C

If it's in your home, it's there.

Speaker C

And it's going to be a lot of fun we can have.

Speaker C

Away from me.

Speaker C

Looking forward to it.

Speaker C

Looking forward to it.

Speaker C

All right, everybody, thanks for tuning into this midweek update.

Speaker C

I'm Eric G.

Speaker C

Thanks for tuning in to around the House.
