Speaker BWhen it comes to remodeling or renovating your home there is a lot to know and we have gotcha covered.
Speaker BThis is around the House.
Speaker CWelcome to the Round the House show.
Speaker CThe next generation of home improvement.
Speaker CI'm Eric G.
Speaker CWelcome to the midweek update.
Speaker CThis is where we talk about the stuff that didn't make it into this week's show and next weekend's show.
Speaker CThis hour is brought to you by our friends at Monument Grills.
Speaker CCheck them out@monument grills.com I love it when things work out and hopefully this does work out.
Speaker CI'm on the cusp of it.
Speaker CI'm here in Portland, Oregon and we got a big snow and ice storm hitting Thursday, Friday this week and I have a new partnership that I'm working with on some segments with my friends over atchallpower equipment.com and I love these guys.
Speaker CThey're a great company to work with and showing up here this morning I'm waiting for the knock on the door.
Speaker CI got a delivery truck of a brand new 12,000 watt electric star tri fuel generator with the CO shield which has that carbon monoxide auto shut off and so super cool.
Speaker CI'm super excited about that.
Speaker CIt's one of those things that's going to be great but just in time.
Speaker CThey're saying we'll probably have ice power outages tomorrow and I am so happy to have something that I don't have to keep going to get gas with because that was one of the problems I had.
Speaker CI had a really nice generator but it was fuel injected gas and when I got it the Trifuel wasn't as big as it is now.
Speaker CThese guys didn't.
Speaker CThe other company that I had didn't make a Trifuel and being fuel injected I couldn't put a conversion carburetor kit on it because it's fuel injected.
Speaker CSo there is nothing I could do about it.
Speaker CSo I'm excited to get this thing installed and I might be just get it at least put together so I could get it running, get it tapped in and get a temporary at least so I could put it into my system because I'm going to have to run a gas line and do some other stuff.
Speaker CBut with the cord and stuff and the hose they give you I can actually get off from the, from one of my outlets here that I put in on the back.
Speaker CI can actually work that out so I can plug it into my transfer switch and do it easily.
Speaker CSo I think I'm gonna have to put that Together here real quick today.
Speaker CBut I tell you what, it's gonna be a huge difference because one, it powers a lot more.
Speaker CSo I can pretty much run my entire house off of this thing Because I'm natural gas heat, so I can do that.
Speaker CSo it's perfect for getting ready for that big storm.
Speaker CSo again, that's one of those be prepared things.
Speaker CBut I'll show you that in an upcoming segment of around the House Northwest where we talk about that.
Speaker CIt'll be pretty cool.
Speaker CWe'll have some fun.
Speaker CAnd using natural gas, it basically produces 12,500 starting watts and 10,000 running watts.
Speaker CSo it's pretty cool.
Speaker CThey give a quick connect on all the right stuff on it.
Speaker CSo I'm pretty excited with that.
Speaker CIf I really needed the power, I could run gasoline.
Speaker CBecause that's one thing to think about when you're talking generators is natural gas puts out a lower power ratio than the gasoline.
Speaker CThe generator is 12,5 starting watts.
Speaker C10, 10,000 running watts.
Speaker CWhere gasoline, it's 15,012 running.
Speaker CSo there's a little bit different.
Speaker CAnd though it will run for nine hours at a 50% load, what I realized with my other one, and that's a great fuel efficiency, the other one is pretty fuel efficient as well.
Speaker CBut the problem was that I really.
Speaker CI'd go to bed and I'd have to get up in the morning and go put gas in it because I'd fill it up and it was just getting to be a headache to do it correctly.
Speaker CSo something that was an issue.
Speaker CAnd I'm happy that this thing is showing up just in the nick of time.
Speaker CSo we'll see some stuff coming up.
Speaker CExcited to show you guys what this thing will do.
Speaker CWe have.
Speaker CBefore I get into something else here, I wanted to say there are some big recalls out there.
Speaker CAnd we touch on recalls in the show.
Speaker CAnd there was a handful of them over this last week that I want to bring in.
Speaker CSo Deuce and Bobcat North America recalls the Bobcat and Steiner air effects finish mower deck attachments due to a crush hazard.
Speaker CSo there's only about 552 of those.
Speaker CBut locking pins is the issue.
Speaker CAnd get a hold of them at Bobcat.
Speaker CYou can find all these things@cpsc.gov recalls another one that's big.
Speaker CPella recalls sliding patio doors and windows due to battery ingestion hazard.
Speaker CViolation of Reese's Law federal safety regulations for consumer products with button cell batteries.
Speaker CSo the recall products violate the mandatory federal regulations for consumer products containing those little button Cell or coin batteries.
Speaker CBecause the sliding door sensor panel and the Windows remote control have button cell batteries that can be easily accessed by children.
Speaker CThey want you to remove those and keep them away from kids, all that stuff.
Speaker CThere's about 340 of them out there.
Speaker COne of the biggest ones I see, though, is LG recalling electric ranges due to fire hazard.
Speaker CFront mounted knobs on the recalled ranges can be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets posing a fire hazard.
Speaker CAnd it's basically what they're doing.
Speaker CAnd this is probably one of the dumbest recalls.
Speaker CConsumers should contact LG for a free warning label and placement instructions.
Speaker CAnd it says, make sure and use the lockout when you're not using the range.
Speaker CI'm like, are you kidding me?
Speaker CNo one is.
Speaker CIf there's a sticker there, no one is going to use a lockout on there unless they've got kids and they're a parent and they're like, okay, I don't want the kids to burn the house down.
Speaker CBut, wow, that needs a redesign.
Speaker CPutting a sticker.
Speaker CThat's not going to happen.
Speaker CIt's just.
Speaker CIt's crazy what's going on with that.
Speaker CThat's just.
Speaker COkay, redesign the range.
Speaker CSorry.
Speaker CI know there's a half a million of them out there, but that makes no sense to me.
Speaker CWe're gonna put a sticker on it.
Speaker CThat'll fix it.
Speaker CNow, this brings me to the subject, and I'm gonna do this.
Speaker CI'm gonna really do this.
Speaker CThis is something I've wanted to do.
Speaker CThere are these stove cover boards for gas and electric cooktops.
Speaker CThey're a raised cutting board with legs and juice grooves that are about 50 bucks that are meant to go over the top of your range.
Speaker CThis is the most insane thing you could use in your kitchen.
Speaker CAnd they sell them on Amazon.
Speaker CWe have a recall on a range because if you bump the knob or a dog jumps up, puts its paw on there, looking to the food, it can turn the range on.
Speaker CIt's not a big deal.
Speaker CIf you don't have anything on your range, you just got a burner on.
Speaker CBut holy smokes, if you're putting a cutting board on your cooking service, that is absolutely wild, and that is a guaranteed easy route to burning your house down.
Speaker CSo anybody doing these noodle boards, using these noodle boards, take them away.
Speaker CDon't ever put anything that is flammable on the stovetop.
Speaker CAnd yes, anything wood is super flammable.
Speaker CSo I have a segment I'm gonna do here.
Speaker CPretty soon, we're gonna show you how this works and we'll show you how that is.
Speaker CAnd I'm excited to do it.
Speaker CSo let's stay tuned for that one.
Speaker CThat's something I'm working on putting together.
Speaker CSomething I'm working on putting together.
Speaker CAll right, guys, we are running out of time here.
Speaker CWe got a great show coming up this weekend and then the following weekend.
Speaker COh, man.
Speaker CWe're coming up on the International Builders Show, Design and construction week.
Speaker CAnd I got some big stuff while I'm out over there going.
Speaker CCan't wait to show you all the new stuff.
Speaker CI'm going to be doing a lot of stuff, showing what's going around, what you're going to see out there.
Speaker CThis is the premier event of the world for kitchen bath design and construction.
Speaker CEverything from cabinet knobs to framing to siding to garage doors to windows.
Speaker CIf it's in your home, it's there.
Speaker CAnd it's going to be a lot of fun we can have.
Speaker CAway from me.
Speaker CLooking forward to it.
Speaker CLooking forward to it.
Speaker CAll right, everybody, thanks for tuning into this midweek update.
Speaker CI'm Eric G.
Speaker CThanks for tuning in to around the House.
