Living as citizens of Heaven.
Speaker AA Reflection on Philippians 3:17 21 on the Daily Bible Refresh with Dr.
Speaker ABrad Miller hello good people.
Speaker AWelcome to Daily Bible Refresh.
Speaker AMy name is Dr.
Speaker ABrad Miller and my mission is to put the audible word of God in the 2 million years by the year 2028.
Speaker AHelp me do that by joining me today here at the Daily Bible Refresh, where we read the Bible in a fresh manner by offering it to you.
Speaker AWhether it's understandable, we read from the Message version of the Bible.
Speaker ARelatable, we give you some points to ponder.
Speaker AApplicable I'll give you an action step.
Speaker AWe have a prayer.
Speaker AWe do all that in under 10 minutes or so because we use the selected passage of Scripture for this very day from the Revised Common Lectionary, Year C.
Speaker AThe Lenten season is where we're at right now.
Speaker AIt's all brought to you by voiceofgoddaily.com the home of the ABC 1, 2, 3 Bible Study Guide.
Speaker AHere's our reading for the day.
Speaker APhilippians 3:17 21 Reading from the Message Stick with me friends.
Speaker AKeep track of those who you see running the same course, heading for the same goal.
Speaker AThere are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals and trying to get you to go along with them.
Speaker AI've warned you of them many times.
Speaker ASadly, I'm having to do it again.
Speaker AAll they want is easy street.
Speaker AThey hate Christ cross.
Speaker ABut Easy street is a dead end street.
Speaker AThose who live there make their bellies their gods.
Speaker ABelches are their praise.
Speaker AAll they can think of is their appetite.
Speaker ABut there's far more to life for us.
Speaker AWe're citizens of high Heaven.
Speaker AWe're waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthly bodies into glorious bodies like his own.
Speaker AHe'll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around Him.
Speaker AIncredible stuff there.
Speaker AToday we're exploring the passion in this passage from Philippians that speaks to our identity as people of faith and our role in creating a positive change in the world.
Speaker ASo here are some points to ponder, to think about.
Speaker AOne of them is about transformative community.
Speaker APaul is speaking here about running the same course together in a progressive faith.
Speaker AThis isn't about exclusion or judgment, but it's about building communities that actively work together for justice, inclusion and love.
Speaker AWe're called to journey with those who seek to embody Christ's radical love and acceptance of all people.
Speaker ASecond thing is redefining success.
Speaker AThe passage critiques Those focused solely on easy street and material comfort.
Speaker AIn our modern context, this challenges us to examine our relationship with consumer culture and capitalism.
Speaker AWhat does it mean to live differently in a world obsessed with profit and personal gain?
Speaker ASuccess in God's economy might look like advocacy for the marginalized, environmental stewardship and building a beloved community.
Speaker AOne more point.
Speaker AIt's about embodied spirituality.
Speaker APaul speaks of a heavenly citizenship.
Speaker AHe's not suggesting that we abandon earthly concerns.
Speaker AHe's talking about rather this citizenship which calls us to transform our present reality.
Speaker AOur bodies in this world matter deeply to God.
Speaker AWe're called to work for liberation and justice here and now, not just wait for a future heaven.
Speaker AHere's your action step.
Speaker AChoose an area where you've been complicit in systems of inequality or injustice.
Speaker ASo this week I just invite you to take one concrete step to change your participation.
Speaker AThis might mean changing your spending habits or supporting a ethical business that is speaking up against discrimination.
Speaker AOr do something in your workplace or join a local organization which is working for social justice.
Speaker AThere's many things you can do.
Speaker AOne of the things we are going to do here in just a moment is pray together about all of this.
Speaker ABut before we do, I want to invite you to take action by going over to voiceofgoddaily.com and picking up our resource that we have for you.
