Speaker:

Speaker:

Speaker:

Hello there, Modern Man. I'm Dr. Anne Truong. I'm a medical

Speaker:

doctor specializing in sexual medicine. In this episode, we're

Speaker:

going to talk about how the hip affect your erection. Yes, it

Speaker:

can definitely affect your erection! And why is that?

Speaker:

Because the hips are right next to the pelvic muscles, and

Speaker:

they're right next to the pelvic muscle. The pelvic muscle act as

Speaker:

a sling that holds up your organ, that holds your bladder,

Speaker:

that holds your intestine, and the hips are right next to it.

Speaker:

And the hip muscles are the muscles that are in between your

Speaker:

thighs. Those are called the adductors, and then the hip

Speaker:

flexors are the one that goes across the front of the hips.

Speaker:

And then the gluteal muscles or the buttock muscle, which

Speaker:

stabilizes the hips from the side as well. But the hip

Speaker:

muscles are intimately connected to your pelvic muscles. So when

Speaker:

you have like either hip pain or hip arthritis, the hip muscles

Speaker:

are tight and they cannot contract fully or even relax

Speaker:

fully, so therefore they're dysfunctional. And when the hip

Speaker:

muscles are dysfunctional, it's also affecting the pelvic muscle

Speaker:

as well too. So when the pelvic muscles are not functioning

Speaker:

well, it's gonna affect your erection, gonna affect your

Speaker:

urination, as well as your ejaculation.

Speaker:

So I wanted to show you, and there's a picture here, the

Speaker:

picture where it acts as a sling. These pelvic muscles here

Speaker:

are the ones that are intimately connected to the hips at this

Speaker:

point. So the pelvic muscle is connected to the hip muscle, and

Speaker:

they both are interrelated, having said that if you have ED

Speaker:

and you also have hip pain as well, either it's from arthritis

Speaker:

or maybe from an injury, or maybe from a muscle injury like

Speaker:

a tendinitis or a hamstring tear that's going to affect your

Speaker:

sexual function, because when you're having pain, your body is

Speaker:

reacting to it as a stress. When you're stressed out, your

Speaker:

testosterone level decreases, and you're just not in the mood

Speaker:

for sexual activity. And then on top of that, the muscle in the

Speaker:

pelvic area are tight, and they're not relaxed at all, so

Speaker:

you're gonna have difficulty getting an erection, and even

Speaker:

difficulty with ejaculation. Sometimes you're probably even

Speaker:

losing it in the middle.

Speaker:

So I want to stress to you how important hip pain is to your

Speaker:

erection and how you can be proactive in treating your hip

Speaker:

pain so that way it doesn't affect your erection. How can

Speaker:

you do that? Stretch the muscles adductor stretch where you open

Speaker:

up your legs and stretch adductor. Do stretching for your

Speaker:

hip flexors and stretching for your gluteal muscles. And then

Speaker:

get evaluated. You get an x ray of your hip to see how your hip

Speaker:

joint is doing. So if you're having a hip pain and you feel

Speaker:

that your erection is not as good as it used to be, the first

Speaker:

thing is five hours going around with your hip, because it may be

Speaker:

contributing to your erection. Get your testosterone level

Speaker:

check as well. Maybe treat the hip. It will also help with the

Speaker:

pelvic muscle. And the pelvic muscle is so important to your

Speaker:

erection, because the pelvic muscle acts as a sling. When

Speaker:

it's not working well, it's gonna affect your erection,

Speaker:

going to affect your urine stream, frequency of your urine

Speaker:

as well as affecting your ejaculation, the quality of your

Speaker:

ejaculation as well too.

Speaker:

So something to think about on top of everything else, because

Speaker:

the hips are right next to the area, and take care of it before

Speaker:

it starts affecting your manhood. The best thing is

Speaker:

probably start with stretching during the yoga class. Doing the

Speaker:

Pilates class is helpful, because a lot of stretching

Speaker:

going on in those classes. I do it myself, the yoga and pilates,

Speaker:

absolutely love it, because when you do those classes, you also

Speaker:

improve your core muscle as well too, which is another stabilizer

Speaker:

for your erection. Because here's the penis, anything above

Speaker:

it, like your core muscle, your abdominal muscle, and then your

Speaker:

hip and your pelvic muscle is what stabilizes the penis. So if

Speaker:

you do your abdominal muscles, like your plank, and then your

Speaker:

sit up, and then you do your Kegel exercises, which is the

Speaker:

pelvic muscle, and then you do your hip stretches, and then

Speaker:

your squat, then you stabilize the penis, which sits in between

Speaker:

that, you're gonna be in good shape. Essentially, you take

Speaker:

care of the muscle that surrounds the penis, and you'll

Speaker:

be good.

Speaker:

I hope you find this helpful. I wanted to kind of touch upon

Speaker:

this. I've never talked about it before, but it just makes sense,

Speaker:

because these are the muscles that surround the penis, and if

Speaker:

those muscles are not working well, then the penis will not be

Speaker:

working well either. So let me know what you think about it.
