Heather Masters

Good morning and welcome to coffee and coaching.

Heather Masters

I'm Heather Masters and it's Wednesday woo time.

Heather Masters

And we're going to explore the depths of our emotional landscape.

Heather Masters

But something much more important, I believe, is how do we live with our hearts open?

Heather Masters

How do we manage our open heartedness?

Heather Masters

And when do we know when to put our boundaries up and to to keep ourselves safe living as open heart beings.

Heather Masters

Now, open heartedness has an incredible power as well as potential pitfalls.

Heather Masters

And we're going to look at some practical steps you can take to cultivate an open heart.

Heather Masters

So if you've got your coffee, let's get started.

Heather Masters

Now, open heartedness, what does it really mean?

Heather Masters

It's about embracing all of your emotions, both joyful and painful.

Heather Masters

It's like accepting what's here, what's here in this moment.

Heather Masters

And at the same time we are opening ourselves up to our intuition, to our personal power, to the power of the universe, and to eternal unconditional love.

Heather Masters

At least that's my definition of what I mean by open heartedness.

Heather Masters

It's about connecting deeply with ourselves, with universe and with others.

Heather Masters

And it fosters empathy and understanding.

Heather Masters

So living with an open heart has numerous benefits.

Heather Masters

We shed our masks and we come across in our truths authentically and we invite others to do the same.

Heather Masters

We create empathy within ourselves and others by creating genuine connections and it creates resilience, which is kind of an odd one because I know that one of the reasons that I've lived kind of with armor up and protected my heart was because I believed that by opening my heart I'd make myself vulnerable to being hurt.

Heather Masters

However, embracing both those positive and negative emotions without judgment strengthens our ability to navigate life's challenges because we aren't judging them, we aren't taking them on personally.

Heather Masters

So it builds that resilience in ourselves.

Heather Masters

If we can sit with an open heart and be connected to source, to universe, to the ether, then we can sit in not knowing, we can sit in not judging, we can sit in that, that space, that spaciousness.

Heather Masters

An open heart also encourages us therefore to confront our fears and can lead to profound transformation in our lives.

Heather Masters

And therefore the ripple effect is that it has a transformative effect on the people around us and how they show up in our presence as well.

Heather Masters

Now there are pitfalls and it's important to recognize the challenges that come with the journey because by being vulnerable, if, if we haven't quite got that being detached from a spiritual perspective, so standing in the third person, standing in our power as understanding duality, then that can leave us susceptible to disappointment and being vulnerable to being hurt.

Heather Masters

And the flood of emotions when we begin to open our hearts.

Heather Masters

Because often when we've closed our hearts, we're trapping in a lot of emotions that we haven't embraced.

Heather Masters

And that can sometimes be overwhelming.

Heather Masters

But with practice, and we're stepping into again that, that place of neutrality, we can learn to accept those emotions and just to watch them as they flow through us rather than attaching, resisting or holding on to them.

Heather Masters

Openness can be misinterpreted by misinterpreted by others as a weakness.

Heather Masters

But again, it's about what you do with that.

Heather Masters

It's not really what others do with it that's important, it's how we respond and move forward in life.

Heather Masters

And that balancing of boundaries that I mentioned earlier between openness and self protection is crucial and how you navigate that.

Heather Masters

But the more open hearted you are, the more you're coming from love, the more you're detached from the opinions of others and wanting to please others, the more more you're standing in your power.

Heather Masters

And you can kind of protect yourself from that stance.

Heather Masters

Now let's explore some universal practic practices that can help you open your heart and cultivate your emotional well being as well as your connection to source and to your truth.

Heather Masters

You can try a loving kindness meditation by directing positive affirmations towards yourself and others.

Heather Masters

But in doing the positive affirmations, it's about actually focusing on your heart and on that heart space and dropping into it so that you're not having that mind chatter, so your mind is quiet, you've dropped into that heart space and then you feel it open up.

Heather Masters

You can breathe into it and then start with affirmations like I am happy, I am love, I am loved.

Heather Masters

And extend those sentiments then to loved ones and even to those you're finding challenging.

Heather Masters

So you know I radiate love, I send you love.

Heather Masters

There are also heart opening yoga poses you can try and I'm not going to demonstrate them.

Heather Masters

There's the camel pose and the bridge pose.

Heather Masters

And these poses promote physical openness in the chest area while allowing for deeper breathing.

Heather Masters

And conscious breathing is the next tip to practice heart opening breathing techniques by placing your hands over your heart, taking slow deep breaths, visualizing your heart expanding with each inhale and releasing the tension with each exhale.

Heather Masters

And then imagining that you're breathing into your heart and exhaling from your heart, you can be breathing in the light of source of the universe and breathing out, exhaling unconditional love.

Heather Masters

Another Way to open your heart is to spend time in nature, to reconnect with the beauty of nature and the miracle that nature is.

Heather Masters

You can engage in mindful walks in parks and forests and absorb the healing energy of the trees and of the nature around you.

Heather Masters

Expressing your emotions is another healthy way to open your heart.

Heather Masters

You can do such things as expressing your emotions or feelings in journaling.

Heather Masters

And I'm launching my journaling course, I am, I'm going to put that out today, actually.

Heather Masters

I'll put a link in the comments.

Heather Masters

And also acknowledging and processing emotions can prevent them from become overwhelming.

Heather Masters

And another way to do that is mindfulness techniques and just watching the emotions as they flow through your body and really getting into noticing where the emotions are in your body.

Heather Masters

So if you feel you've got something stuck in your body that you can visualize it releasing and turning to smoke and moving out of your body and just watching it flow as well.

Heather Masters

Practicing acceptance.

Heather Masters

So moving from judgment and criticism to acceptance by embracing what is, rather than labeling experiences good or bad, asking yourself in the moment, what's here for me?

Heather Masters

What's here for me to acknowledge what's here for me emotionally, what's here for me to do?

Heather Masters

And cultivate inner stillness.

Heather Masters

Spending time in quiet reflection and meditation and in that heart space and listening to your heart's messages.

Heather Masters

Your heart is a powerful, powerful tool and it is another brain in your body.

Heather Masters

So listen to your heart's messages.

Heather Masters

You can surround yourself with friends who support you without judgment, who are open hearted as well.

Heather Masters

And that will create a safe space for you to remain open hearted in a safe space for being vulnerable and expressing that open heartedness as you learn and build the resilience as well.

Heather Masters

And actively sending love to those around you, including those you may find difficult to love.

Heather Masters

Because actually that's the most important part.

Heather Masters

When we can get into that space, as I say, of resilience and of neutrality so that we're not judging anyone or anything if possible.

Heather Masters

And that's, you know, it takes practice.

Heather Masters

I'm not saying it's going to happen overnight and I'm not perfect either.

Heather Masters

So visualizing that though, and visualizing sending love around the planet through nature into the future can also enhance feelings of connection and compassion with your within yourself and with others.

Heather Masters

So living with an open heart is a powerful way to engage with life fully.

Heather Masters

So you're feeling that aliveness, you're fostering that authenticity.

Heather Masters

You're living in your true nature.

Heather Masters

You're building empathy, you're growing personally.

Heather Masters

It all adds up.

Heather Masters

You're growing spiritually as well.

Heather Masters

You're creating that connection.

Heather Masters

Or opening, should I say that connection is always there.

Heather Masters

It's embracing that connection with your higher self, your over soul, with universe, source, whatever you want to call it.

Heather Masters

So remember, it's not about perfection.

Heather Masters

It's about progress.

Heather Masters

It's about finding beauty in the light and the shadows.

Heather Masters

It's about embracing all of those emotions and recognizing that we're constantly on a journey and that life is supporting us always.

Heather Masters

So if it doesn't feel like it, ask what's the lesson?

Heather Masters

What am I learning here?

Heather Masters
