Speaker:

Everybody's got an opinion.

Speaker:

Every Californian and Virginian.

Speaker:

It's so hard to tell who to trust and who to ignore.

Speaker:

Someone's gotta settle the score.

Speaker:

Trey and Chelsea will help you choose.

Speaker:

Whose views win?

Speaker:

Which ones lose?

Speaker:

Online haters are coming for you.

Speaker:

Baby, it's time to review the reviews.

Speaker:

Hello, Royal Squad.

Speaker:

Welcome back to our coverage of Yelp reviews for Royal Moving and Storage.

Speaker:

In part one, we heard the five star review.

Speaker:

And before we cover the opposite end of the spectrum.

Speaker:

It is game

Speaker:

time.

Speaker:

Chelsea, are you ready to take a little spin on the Merrill ground?

Speaker:

Oh, yes.

Speaker:

I don't feel like an icon.

Speaker:

Most of the days I feel like I can't.

Speaker:

That's with an A. Here's the deal.

Speaker:

Trey and I have each picked a rotten, scathing pithy, one star zinger,

Speaker:

and with 30 seconds on the clock, We'll take turns trying to recite the

Speaker:

zinger in as many genres as possible.

Speaker:

Just like Queen Meryl Streep, who does it all.

Speaker:

Before the clock runs out!

Speaker:

Woo!

Speaker:

Alright, Chelsea, would you care to go first, or should I?

Speaker:

I

Speaker:

mean, I feel like I've just done so much, Try, I think you should go first.

Speaker:

Alright, so, in honor of the theme today, I have a one star zinger from Amazon for,

Speaker:

let me get um, let me do a big inhale for this.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Duck brand small bubble cushioning wrap for moving and shipping.

Speaker:

175 feet bubble packing wrap for extra protection, packaging, boxes,

Speaker:

and mailers, clear bubble roll moving supplies, perforated every 12 inches.

Speaker:

It's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Speaker:

So 175 feet bubble wrap.

Speaker:

It is, um, 27.

Speaker:

99. And I have a one star zinger from user UpsideDownSara.

Speaker:

Hilarious.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Their subject is useless.

Speaker:

And their zinger is, it's flimsy and it shreds.

Speaker:

Oh wow.

Speaker:

Okay, try.

Speaker:

I'm gonna strap you into a duck because it just feels appropriate.

Speaker:

Um.

Speaker:

Are you ready?

Speaker:

I think I'm ready.

Speaker:

Let's go.

Speaker:

Okay, let's go.

Speaker:

It's uh, flimsy and it shreds.

Speaker:

Auctioneer.

Speaker:

It's flimsy and it shreds.

Speaker:

Soap opera.

Speaker:

It's

Speaker:

flimsy and

Speaker:

it shreds.

Speaker:

Mime.

Speaker:

Rom com.

Speaker:

It's flimsy and it shreds.

Speaker:

Courtroom drama.

Speaker:

It's flimsy and it shreds.

Speaker:

Horror.

Speaker:

Breaking news.

Speaker:

It's flimsy and a shred.

Speaker:

Sorry for peeking out the mic.

Speaker:

Do I give you that?

Speaker:

Sure.

Speaker:

Why not?

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Nine tray.

Speaker:

Nine.

Speaker:

You got nine.

Speaker:

That's amazing.

Speaker:

All right, Chelsea.

Speaker:

I really have a lot to catch up.

Speaker:

Now your turn.

Speaker:

What have you got?

Speaker:

Alright, so I decided to stay, obviously, in the moving theme, and

Speaker:

I found another moving company called Cal State Moving and Storage on Google.

Speaker:

They only have a 2.

Speaker:

2 overall, yikes.

Speaker:

And this zinger is written by Travis G, and it says, hit

Speaker:

and killed the tree in front of my building!

Speaker:

Oof.

Speaker:

Alright, well I'm going to strap you into one of those, um.

Speaker:

Memoriam plant tree situation things.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

All right, Chelsea.

Speaker:

Are you ready?

Speaker:

Yes

Speaker:

Opera

Speaker:

diva

Speaker:

True crime doc

Speaker:

hadn't killed the tree in front of my building disc

Speaker:

jockey

Speaker:

Hit and kill the tree in front of my b b b building!

Speaker:

Speaker:

Hit and kill the tree.

Speaker:

Pfft.

Speaker:

In front of my building.

Speaker:

Yankee.

Speaker:

Hit and kill the tree in front of my building!

Speaker:

Lifetime.

Speaker:

Hit and kill the tree in front of my building!

Speaker:

Spy.

Speaker:

Hit and kill the tree in front of my building.

Speaker:

I'm.

Speaker:

That's all.

Speaker:

Three, six, seven, eight.

Speaker:

You won.

Speaker:

Yay, Trey.

Speaker:

Go Trey.

Speaker:

Good for you.

Speaker:

Well, now that we have saged the space with some fun, let's

Speaker:

move into the negativity zone.

Speaker:

Oh my

Speaker:

god.

Speaker:

I'm like in shock a little bit, but I'm ready.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So as I stated in part one, If you have not watched part one yet, go back.

Speaker:

You can click the link here.

Speaker:

Go back to part one, okay?

Speaker:

We gave you the whole breakdown of our, this company, Royal Moving and Storage.

Speaker:

And um, as I said, this is one of the 2, 103 Not currently recommended reviews.

Speaker:

You can always find us at the bottom of Yelp.

Speaker:

It's a little gray, um, bold hyperlink that you can click.

Speaker:

And these are reviews that have been scrubbed off the main page.

Speaker:

Removed for one

Speaker:

reason or another.

Speaker:

So

Speaker:

this is Samira A. This is from

Speaker:

December of 2021, alright?

Speaker:

One star review.

Speaker:

Double charged me.

Speaker:

Hella slow movers.

Speaker:

Bad communication.

Speaker:

They took care of my stuff and nothing broke, but the

Speaker:

management itself is pretty bad.

Speaker:

I originally wrote a very generous review after one of the movers asked me to, but

Speaker:

they ended up charging my credit card, which was supposed to be a deposit,

Speaker:

and then they charged me via cash.

Speaker:

So, I was charged over 800 for three hours of move time.

Speaker:

When asked for a refund, they gave me a receipt.

Speaker:

But never hit my account, so had to dispute it.

Speaker:

Just watch out for stuff like this.

Speaker:

Very sketch.

Speaker:

Just want money sign, money sign, money sign.

Speaker:

Wouldn't recommend, nor would I ever use again.

Speaker:

My other review was at the plea of the mover, since I had a bad experience.

Speaker:

I just quickly I, it does provide the previous review,

Speaker:

which is a five star review.

Speaker:

I'm going to read this very fast.

Speaker:

Just used this company for the first time after hearing wonderful reviews.

Speaker:

They were able to schedule movers in less than 24 hours and did it efficiently.

Speaker:

And the two men, Dimitri and David, We're super respectful and

Speaker:

beyond cautious with my stuff.

Speaker:

They communicated every step of the way and offered more help than I needed.

Speaker:

I really appreciate this company and their willingness to help and communicate.

Speaker:

I would use them again and I would recommend the two movers who

Speaker:

specifically helped me to others.

Speaker:

Thank you guys for a good experience during this time.

Speaker:

I appreciate your service and time.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Weird.

Speaker:

This is a little shady.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I mean, maybe there's a reason why this is in there.

Speaker:

Not recommended.

Speaker:

I'm not sure.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So I just think it's weird that they spoke about being plead by

Speaker:

the mover to write that review.

Speaker:

Like they were coerced because they had a bad experience.

Speaker:

What about the experience?

Speaker:

Well, I guess they said that they were slow.

Speaker:

I'm just like.

Speaker:

What about the experience is bad other than the price

Speaker:

thing, which happened after?

Speaker:

So, like, if they had said, like, I thought I had a good experience, but

Speaker:

then, like, they charged me twice to F them, I would be more understanding.

Speaker:

But, like, you wrote a five star review.

Speaker:

Like, what do you mean you were coerced?

Speaker:

Did they have a gun to your head?

Speaker:

Like, how could they possibly coerce you to lie?

Speaker:

about the company and then also like double down on your lie by, by

Speaker:

recommending these two people by name.

Speaker:

It just, it feels a little bit weird that we would have this, this shift.

Speaker:

And it seems like other reviews that we've had where like there was one main issue

Speaker:

and then they like threw other things on top of it, you know, like it's enough of

Speaker:

an issue to say that they double charged you, you know, like now I don't believe

Speaker:

you when you say that they were slow or what were the other complaints try.

Speaker:

It says the, um, double charged, slow movers, bad communication.

Speaker:

Um, Well,

Speaker:

the bad communication and, and the double charge, I think,

Speaker:

can kind of go hand in hand.

Speaker:

So, like, that works, but the slow thing just feels like

Speaker:

it's coming out of nowhere.

Speaker:

Like, I don't think that I would give, give my reviewers five stars

Speaker:

if I felt like they were slow.

Speaker:

Well, it's interesting to me because you can even when this has been removed and

Speaker:

it's in the not currently recommended section, you can see the previous review.

Speaker:

So even though I sped through it, I think you really were able to grasp

Speaker:

the fact that they double speak.

Speaker:

Yeah, because when you read the one star, I believe them.

Speaker:

It comes across as trustworthy to me because I think in the way that they say,

Speaker:

like, just watch out for stuff like this.

Speaker:

It's sketch.

Speaker:

It seems like they just want money.

Speaker:

Um, makes me feel like they're taking care of me and they're protecting me.

Speaker:

But then when you read it to your point, when you read the five star,

Speaker:

and then they're just literally.

Speaker:

saying the opposite.

Speaker:

It's like, okay, so you either lied in the five star or you're lying in the one star,

Speaker:

right?

Speaker:

Because the way

Speaker:

you're getting to being a liar

Speaker:

to the explicit points, they say slow, bad communication.

Speaker:

And then they say, That they, uh, were able to schedule the

Speaker:

movers in less than 24 hours.

Speaker:

They were efficient and that they were, um, they communicated

Speaker:

every step of the way.

Speaker:

So it's like you are lying,

Speaker:

which is it?

Speaker:

I mean, so I don't think it, we can't trust which one is right.

Speaker:

Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker:

I mean, I can't, I just feel like I've been lied to one way or

Speaker:

another and I just don't think that anyone could coerce you enough.

Speaker:

To make you write that five star review, I just wish that they had been a little

Speaker:

bit more honest and said, listen, I wrote this five star review, but after being

Speaker:

double charged, how could I stand by that?

Speaker:

That would have been enough.

Speaker:

I will say,

Speaker:

as far as grammar here, like I like just want money, some money, some money sign

Speaker:

very sketch like it is really casual in tone, but it actually doesn't bother me

Speaker:

as I read it because I do feel like Samara is just trying to like be a good one.

Speaker:

There were other reviews that mentioned being charged the

Speaker:

deposit, but paying in cash.

Speaker:

There are other reviews that bring up this issue.

Speaker:

So, I chose this one because Samira specifically says, just

Speaker:

watch out for stuff like this.

Speaker:

Because that's sort of the red flag I was gathering as I was looking through

Speaker:

one stars and going through the 2000.

Speaker:

Also, the not currently recommended.

Speaker:

That is not just 2001 stars.

Speaker:

There are four stars that are not recommended.

Speaker:

There are a lot of five stars that are not recommended.

Speaker:

So it's not like they're hiding.

Speaker:

Are they from a

Speaker:

similar time period?

Speaker:

Like somebody else took over the company?

Speaker:

If you look back at part one, I point out that in their About the Business,

Speaker:

they use four different company names.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

They have a completely different company name that is referenced in multiple

Speaker:

reviews as if this was a Yelp page.

Speaker:

For a different company name at a different time.

Speaker:

Interesting.

Speaker:

I

Speaker:

don't know if they rebranded because they say that it's, you know,

Speaker:

25 years of combined experience.

Speaker:

In the

Speaker:

combined experience, I meant to bring that up in the first show.

Speaker:

That's a weird way of phrasing it.

Speaker:

It's a weird way

Speaker:

of phrasing it.

Speaker:

So maybe they asked to remove Do you and I

Speaker:

have a combined year of six, a combined of six years in podcasting?

Speaker:

I think that's probably Uh, smart way to like right finesse the word edge, but when

Speaker:

you look at the not currently recommended.

Speaker:

It's pulling up for me right now, but, uh, there's a different company name.

Speaker:

Oh, interesting.

Speaker:

Um, some of the responsible moving was a previous name for the company.

Speaker:

Interesting.

Speaker:

So maybe they wanted to get any of them that reference that name off and

Speaker:

that's why there's such a high number.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Or maybe they're like, I bought this company and like,

Speaker:

I'm not this other person.

Speaker:

Because I will say that, like, in my experience, which we have this, we don't

Speaker:

usually have this in those reviews.

Speaker:

But they didn't even ask for a credit card.

Speaker:

They just like, they told me this is going to be the price.

Speaker:

If you pay cash, this is going to be the price.

Speaker:

If you charge it,

Speaker:

that's right.

Speaker:

That's interesting.

Speaker:

Well, okay.

Speaker:

So back to Samara.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

You know, I think there is valuable, unique, new information here.

Speaker:

It's not so new when you go through, cause there are other people that

Speaker:

talk about like being double charged.

Speaker:

That would never have even occurred to me.

Speaker:

Um, so that's viable to me.

Speaker:

Spelling grammar is casual, but not, it's like fine.

Speaker:

I think this is common.

Speaker:

I don't know because we have so many not recommended reviews

Speaker:

and you're saying maybe it's common so like maybe it happens.

Speaker:

I mean there are other reviews that mention this.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But also it's a little

Speaker:

bit shady so I don't know if I trust.

Speaker:

Well that's correct.

Speaker:

Humor, entertained, I mean, I'm upset because I, I think Ultimately, the impact

Speaker:

for me is I'm just going to disregard Samara because you're lying and I don't

Speaker:

know which one, so I'm just gonna, I'm gonna actually take note that if I do

Speaker:

a deposit, make sure that I'm paying cash and I'm not getting double charged.

Speaker:

But other than that, I'm going to try to do some more due diligence.

Speaker:

That's not you.

Speaker:

Because you're lying somewhere.

Speaker:

I completely agree.

Speaker:

I think you can go into the crowning.

Speaker:

Yeah, let's do it.

Speaker:

The queens

Speaker:

are tabulating.

Speaker:

Time to school.

Speaker:

Oh, interesting.

Speaker:

I'm holding up one crown.

Speaker:

Trey's holding up two and a half.

Speaker:

That's more than I thought you were going to say.

Speaker:

Um, I did one just because I think we really Like got to the crux of the

Speaker:

issue when we said, I don't trust you.

Speaker:

I need to be able to trust my reviewer.

Speaker:

And I don't trust you because you owned up to lying.

Speaker:

And that is like almost a half crown, zero crown worthy.

Speaker:

I gave the one crown because.

Speaker:

I'm happy that you gave the note about the double billing, and I'm

Speaker:

going to check from like any company.

Speaker:

I'm going to make sure that I do my due diligence and make sure that I'm

Speaker:

not being charged multiple times.

Speaker:

And I think sometimes that can be an oversight and people

Speaker:

get away with shit like that.

Speaker:

Correct.

Speaker:

So I'm really grateful for that like reminder.

Speaker:

And that's the one crown, but I can't trust you, unfortunately.

Speaker:

So just one for me.

Speaker:

Why two and a half?

Speaker:

So I, so I went with two and a half, which sounds high for this reason.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Um, I don't want to blame Samara for being in the not currently recommended.

Speaker:

I don't want to hold that against her in the show or hold that against them.

Speaker:

Um, the value of like being double charged and as a southerner, I recognize

Speaker:

like when someone like, you know, I don't do this because I have integrity

Speaker:

as a review queen, but when someone asks for a review, I am sort of like

Speaker:

trying to give it enough detail and fluff that I would just be like.

Speaker:

Like it kind of, in a way, I can see how you're like, sure, I'll

Speaker:

leave a good review, whatever.

Speaker:

Like they didn't break anything and whatever.

Speaker:

Communication was great.

Speaker:

It was like, I think they might've just been grapping, grasping for things.

Speaker:

Who knows?

Speaker:

We'll never know.

Speaker:

Trust is lost.

Speaker:

But I could see how you just give a five star and then you

Speaker:

get so livid because they gave you a receipt that meant nothing.

Speaker:

And then you're just like, stop, no.

Speaker:

But too many red flags couldn't depend on it.

Speaker:

That's worth a two and a half.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

What do you guys think?

Speaker:

This was a journey.

Speaker:

I mean, I'm definitely a little perturbed by the abundance of not recommended.

Speaker:

I do wonder if there was a change in ownership.

Speaker:

It seems that way.

Speaker:

But Chelsea, you used the company.

Speaker:

Loved them.

Speaker:

I used the company.

Speaker:

You recommended them too.

Speaker:

I recommended them also.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

I, I, it was also a little bit more than like, I thought it was going to be, but

Speaker:

quite frankly, I was saying to Trey.

Speaker:

I had more stuff than I think I thought I had, so it made sense.

Speaker:

It didn't, it felt like they were like moving, but I had

Speaker:

different guys, so who knows?

Speaker:

And I know that like we deal with often on the show, it is

Speaker:

impossible to please everyone.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Um, but there's, there's a, there's a lot of red flags regardless,

Speaker:

and that's the beauty of Yelp.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Who do you trust?

Speaker:

The red flags?

Speaker:

Or do you trust your friends?

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

At least them had a great experience.

Speaker:

Like.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I mean, I think that TL's review was still really strong.

Speaker:

And I think in this example, I'll leave it with this, look at the reviews that

Speaker:

are most recent, whether that's in the recommended or in the not, because I

Speaker:

think that that will really give you a good idea of where things are at.

Speaker:

Today.

Speaker:

That's right.

Speaker:

And use your own discretion.
