Speaker:

- [Rob] There's a story inside every smoke shop.

Speaker:

(upbeat trumpet music)

Speaker:

With every cigar and with every person.

Speaker:

Come be a part of the cigar lifestyle of Boveda.

Speaker:

This is Box Press.

Speaker:

(upbeat music)

Speaker:

(soft guitar music)

Speaker:

[Rob] So, we're digging through Reinier's personal humidor,

Speaker:

which is a giant humidor filled with Boveda

Speaker:

and other great Cubans.

Speaker:

And he's got some great stuff in here.

Speaker:

(Reinier chuckles)

Speaker:

- [Reinier] This one was number one

Speaker:

of the year in "Cigar Aficionado."

Speaker:

- [Rob] Yeah, Bolivar.

Speaker:

- [Reinier] Years ago, the Belicosos Fino, yeah.

Speaker:

- [Rob] The Belicoso, that is, to me, one

Speaker:

of the most flavorful Cuban cigars on the market.

Speaker:

These are great.

Speaker:

Great cigar.

Speaker:

If you're looking for traditional Cuban tobacco,

Speaker:

great flavor. It's gonna be stronger

Speaker:

than maybe some other Cuban tobacco

Speaker:

but it's well-balance, it's great.

Speaker:

- [Reinier] And this is the Cuaba one.

Speaker:

I like this, too, I like the size a lot.

Speaker:

It's beautiful.

Speaker:

- [Rob] This cigar is my favorite Cuban cigar,

Speaker:

because of its shape.

Speaker:

- [Reinier] The Divinos.

Speaker:

- Of the shape?

Speaker:

- [Rob] It's always a Salomon. - [Reinier] Yeah.

Speaker:

- It's never in any other format.

Speaker:

- They are little.

Speaker:

- [Rob] And then they make it really tiny.

Speaker:

- Yeah. - And all the way,

Speaker:

I smoked one that was like this big, like the big, giant-

Speaker:

- The big one.

Speaker:

- Like 8, ten inches, but what's...

Speaker:

Okay, so, somebody told me way back

Speaker:

when I first started smoking cigars

Speaker:

that this cigar, technically,

Speaker:

doesn't have the cigar aftertaste that most cigars have.

Speaker:

Do you know if that's true about that cigar?

Speaker:

- I mean like, they say everybody have a different palate.

Speaker:

- Right. - And to me,

Speaker:

I have been smoking, you see the box,

Speaker:

I have been smoking a few.

Speaker:

And to me, it's quite like, I would like

Speaker:

to say mild to plus, or even a medium body cigar.

Speaker:

- Right.

Speaker:

- But the aftertaste, it was like almost nothing.

Speaker:

- Yeah, to me, it was like zero aftertaste.

Speaker:

- Yeah, it's something like that and I really like-

Speaker:

- It smells amazing in there.

Speaker:

- And this one probably is one of my favorites from Cuba.

Speaker:

- Which one's that? - This one is the

Speaker:

Ramón Allones Superiores Exclusive Casa Del Habano.

Speaker:

You can buy only in Casa Del Habano.

Speaker:

I brought this one in November 2017,

Speaker:

when I was there in Havana.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's a new box, I haven't opened it yet.

Speaker:

- That's fun, though. - Yeah.

Speaker:

- That's the fun of collecting some of these,

Speaker:

because it's like, well, you sit on them and age them.

Speaker:

- This one is more like, I like the size too, a lot,

Speaker:

the Habaneros, the Partagas Habaneros.

Speaker:

- That's that one. - Yep, that one right there.

Speaker:

- Beautiful cigar. - Yeah.

Speaker:

You know, when you don't have a lot of time,

Speaker:

or want to go for an easy chat.

Speaker:

- Right. - And this one, probably, was-

Speaker:

- Like, that's morning coffee cigar, right there.

Speaker:

- This is a really old box from us.

Speaker:

This was the first HVC Vieja Cosecha

Speaker:

with Viejas aged tobacco, so the tobacco is from 2009.

Speaker:

In Miami, we are in 2022 right now, so look.

Speaker:

Probably I'm not gonna smoke them ever.

Speaker:

- No? - No.

Speaker:

- [Rob] How come?

Speaker:

- I don't have anymore boxes, this is the last box I have.

Speaker:

So, I want to keep it forever.

Speaker:

I have a box of everything for the first production, right.

Speaker:

So, when I go down there, I say, "Well, let me pick one

Speaker:

for the first production and let me smoke now

Speaker:

to see how it is."

Speaker:

Yeah, I do that because, it's like to me to see how...

Speaker:

You know, I was working in genetics, right?

Speaker:

- Yeah. - It's most like,

Speaker:

"Let me see how these are for so many years, how come-"

Speaker:

That's what I say.

Speaker:

There is some tobacco that don't age well

Speaker:

and there's other one when they are ready,

Speaker:

they are ready to smoke.

Speaker:

Got more than 3000 here, really old ones.

Speaker:

- [Rob] Where did you get the book?

Speaker:

- From Havana.

Speaker:

I have one of my friends is a collector there.

Speaker:

- So, did it come with all of these?

Speaker:

- Yeah, and he sent me this from Havana, yeah.

Speaker:

- [Rob] That's awesome.

Speaker:

- [Reinier] This is like,

Speaker:

all really all the stuff that Cuba does.

Speaker:

- [Rob] So, do you get inspiration for some of your bands

Speaker:

from these types of archives? - Oh yeah.

Speaker:

I like to go way back and look how really those things was

Speaker:

made. Because, I mean, today, really,

Speaker:

you don't see a lot of stuff now anymore.

Speaker:

You know, look at this, look at this one here.

Speaker:

This is beautiful.

Speaker:

- Right. - You see, I like to look back

Speaker:

and say what I want to pick here,

Speaker:

what really like, let me go back where I'm from.

Speaker:

Let me go back to Havana, the old days.

Speaker:

So, yeah, for sure.
