Speaker:

Those Keep doing and then saying, Why am I doing that?

Speaker:

And there are favorites.

Speaker:

We have our top ones, procrastination.

Speaker:

Bright shiny objects Wandering around into the kitchen just to see if it's

Speaker:

still there and the social media suck So those are the mysterious behaviors

Speaker:

that goal trauma actually causes You know that you're here for so much more.

Speaker:

You've got all the structures.

Speaker:

You've got everything you need and yet You're not moving forward at the rate of

Speaker:

speed, you know, you could and should.

Speaker:

I have found that goal trauma is the missing link that keeps us playing

Speaker:

small and it has its own little wily ways of doing it and we're

Speaker:

going to talk about that today.

Speaker:

We have so many tips, so many tricks, so many techniques Now, how many

Speaker:

books are out there written about how to stop procrastinating, how to

Speaker:

get your schedule written, oh, your morning routine is really it, no,

Speaker:

your evening routine is really it.

Speaker:

And what I'm saying is, all of that is useful, but it's really just putting

Speaker:

a Band Aid on what's really going on.

Speaker:

That procrastination and resisting things is simply symptoms.

Speaker:

So if you put a band aid on a broken arm, you're going to keep

Speaker:

needing the band aids to be changed.

Speaker:

So let's just take care of the broken arm.

Speaker:

Clear the goal trauma and let the rest of that settle itself out.

Speaker:

You won't need it anymore.

Speaker:

Hey everyone, Kirsten and Jeanne here for our podcast today.

Speaker:

We are so excited about our guest.

Speaker:

Now Jeanne, do you want to introduce her?

Speaker:

I certainly do.

Speaker:

We are thrilled to have Rosalind Morin here from Sacred Life Mastery.

eliminating stress and overwhelm.

Speaker:

She is also a number one international best selling author of four books.

Speaker:

And when she's not talking about possibilities, she loves to create

Speaker:

art with fiber, paper, and paint.

Speaker:

So we are thrilled to have Rosalind today.

Speaker:

She's going to talk about what's really behind procrastination, and

Speaker:

it's probably not what you think.

Speaker:

I love this topic.

Speaker:

Welcome, Rosalind.

Speaker:

Welcome.

Speaker:

Thank you for having me.

Speaker:

I'm so excited to be here and hello everyone.

Speaker:

This is a fun subject because when you can get this taken care

Speaker:

of, you can really take off.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And I think procrastination is a problem for so many people, myself

Speaker:

included, for many, many reasons.

Speaker:

But you have something that you call goal trauma.

Speaker:

Do you want to tell us a little bit about that?

Speaker:

Yes, goal trauma is what I have found is underneath 95 percent of procrastination.

Speaker:

Now, I have a whole other take on that other 5%, and we'll have to come back

Speaker:

another day and talk about that one.

Speaker:

But, the procrastination that keeps us stuck is a symptom.

Speaker:

of an event that happened to you.

Speaker:

And that event created a trauma in your nervous system.

Speaker:

So it's actually not up in your head where you can think yourself

Speaker:

around it and figure it out.

Speaker:

Oh my goodness, read one of the 829, 000 books on Amazon about

Speaker:

how to stop procrastinating.

Speaker:

They're not gonna help.

Speaker:

That's like putting a Band Aid on a broken arm.

Speaker:

We're just dealing with the symptoms over and over.

Speaker:

And then the other thing we do is we, we take this, we stop

Speaker:

at the end of the day and we're like, I didn't get anything done.

Speaker:

I worked all day long.

Speaker:

I got nothing done.

Speaker:

Why am I doing this?

Speaker:

And then we immediately go, because there's something wrong with me.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

No, no, no, no.

Speaker:

There is nothing wrong with you, but now you've piled on

Speaker:

that piece to everything else.

Speaker:

So what I have found is at the core, is goal trauma.

Speaker:

And I will tell you how goal trauma got set up.

Speaker:

So, as I'm speaking, just allow whatever comes to mind, come to mind.

Speaker:

Goal trauma is set in when at some point in your life, you could have

Speaker:

been five or it could have been last week, but you had a goal.

Speaker:

There was something you wanted.

Speaker:

You went after it with your whole heart.

Speaker:

Anybody said, that's not possible.

Speaker:

You're like, watch me.

Speaker:

You were all And then for some unknown reason, it failed and it broke your heart.

Speaker:

That was a trauma.

Speaker:

Not a big T trauma like a car wreck, but it was a trauma.

Speaker:

And your nervous system went, Whew, that hurts.

Speaker:

Okay, we're never feeling that again.

Speaker:

So, now, when you try to set a big goal, or you're going after a goal,

Speaker:

and you're sitting down at your desk to work on it, your nervous system

Speaker:

goes, um, uh, uh, oh, we are skating too close to the fire here, too close

Speaker:

to the edge of the crack, we are, um, no, we can't, you cannot have that,

Speaker:

go after the goal, it's too dangerous.

Speaker:

You can have your heart broken again.

Speaker:

Now, that is all going on unconsciously.

Speaker:

So, you're not in your mind going, oh yeah, that's that,

Speaker:

okay, it can just go away.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

This nervous system block that you have needs to be released.

Speaker:

Just like if your arm is broken, don't put a bandaid on it, go get a cast.

Speaker:

And then it'll be taken care of.

Speaker:

So, that's and everything.

Speaker:

For those of you who just hearing this, something came up for you, just take a

Speaker:

deep breath in and calm down a little bit.

Speaker:

It's going to be fine.

Speaker:

Even just remembering, it comes right to mind, that thing that broke your heart.

Speaker:

So just relaxing a little bit as we go.

Speaker:

But that's the goal trauma that sets up all the rest of this craziness

Speaker:

and the things we do to ourselves.

Speaker:

Call them self sabotage.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

That's so funny because we have a friend we were just talking to the other day

Speaker:

and she has a grown son and she said we had an amazing conversation, but she

Speaker:

said he told me that when he was younger.

Speaker:

Something happened, she said, and she told him he was a failure, and she

Speaker:

said, I have no recollection of doing that, and she said, and that's not

Speaker:

really something I normally would say, so she said, I'm not sure if he, if I

Speaker:

actually said it, or if that's how he interpreted something, but still, as

Speaker:

an adult, and he said, every time I do something, Not perfect in my mind.

Speaker:

I say you're a failure.

Speaker:

I hear it and she was like, oh my gosh, we need to talk about this, you

Speaker:

know, cause that's absolutely not how I feel about you and I don't want you.

Speaker:

To be carrying that anymore.

Speaker:

Oh, and see, a piece of that comes in, this comes from the hypnosis side

Speaker:

of things of how this gets set up.

Speaker:

For her to have even had that energy, which is probably what he read.

Speaker:

It probably wasn't the actual word.

Speaker:

But she was very disappointed in him for whatever reason.

Speaker:

And that, you know, as failure.

Speaker:

But whatever was happening, you can imagine.

Speaker:

That there was some strong turmoil, emotion going on, and especially

Speaker:

it's with children and people with someone in a bigger authority to them,

Speaker:

and that comes back to our tribal, we've got to stay safe or we'll be

Speaker:

thrown out of the tribe and die.

Speaker:

So his little spirit was wide open.

Speaker:

And when that thought came formed of.

Speaker:

I'm a failure.

Speaker:

I've disappointed my mother.

Speaker:

It went straight into his system.

Speaker:

There was no filters to go, Well, wait, mom really thinks I'm cool.

Speaker:

She says all the time I am.

Speaker:

Because, and that's why we have these childhood things in our systems

Speaker:

that need to be brought forth and released, not just in the head,

Speaker:

thinking about them, because they are literally locked in our nervous system.

Speaker:

We know it.

Speaker:

Fight, flight, freeze.

Speaker:

It's the stress response, but that's what the nervous system does.

Speaker:

So I'm so happy that that came up for him, so that he can begin releasing it.

Speaker:

And we need to get him in this class I have, so that he can have a full trauma.

Speaker:

Because that's a trauma that can be released through this work.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

And she said they had an amazing conversation about it.

Speaker:

So let's see, there is also something that you believe that goal

Speaker:

trauma can keep you playing small.

Speaker:

Do you want to tell us a little bit about that?

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

It's built into the way goal trauma works.

Speaker:

So, we all, because of where we are in our business, we're

Speaker:

setting ourselves great big goals.

Speaker:

And, inherent in a great big goal is you're going to stretch

Speaker:

outside of your comfort zone.

Speaker:

There are going to be pieces where you know what to do.

Speaker:

I mean, you know, let's just have, you're going to have another great big launch.

Speaker:

Well, you know that you're going to need to do this and this and this.

Speaker:

But, there's bigger pieces of it that are totally unknown.

Speaker:

That's what makes it a great big goal.

Speaker:

So as soon as you start moving into the realm of, yeah, but I don't know how to

Speaker:

do, I don't know how to shoot videos.

Speaker:

I don't know how to get them up.

Speaker:

I don't know how to market it right.

Speaker:

Now, again, the nervous system, fight, flight, freeze, comes in and

Speaker:

goes Then let's have a littler goal.

Speaker:

And so we actually now create a goal that we know how to do.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah, I could do that blindfolded.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

The problem is that goal is not going to move the needle forward.

Speaker:

And worse than that, it is not going to get you excited.

Speaker:

Yes, it might bring in some money, but it's just same old, same old.

Speaker:

It's not exciting.

Speaker:

It's not, you know, it's not gonna take you forward.

Speaker:

So you don't even talk about it.

Speaker:

You certainly don't throw your whole heart into it.

Speaker:

You're not jumping out of bed in the morning going, Oh, I

Speaker:

can't wait to go work on that.

Speaker:

You're just plodding along.

Speaker:

So that's the double whammy of the goal trauma.

Speaker:

It won't even let you set the big goal that would excite you, set you on fire,

Speaker:

bring your perfect clients to you, make you magnetic, you can't even set it.

Speaker:

So then you settle on this goal that gets you nowhere.

Speaker:

And then you're churning and churning, hello, procrastinating,

Speaker:

and all the other things.

Speaker:

So yeah, it's just like, it gets you coming and it gets you going.

Speaker:

But that's just goal trauma at work.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's almost like you, you find all of a sudden find all these excuses

Speaker:

and all these distractions and you never actually get, you know, even through

Speaker:

step one, you don't really want to.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So how can we stop treating the symptoms and get to the root of the issue?

Speaker:

Well, It is a matter of, number one, checking to see,

Speaker:

do you really have goal trauma?

Speaker:

Is it really at play for you?

Speaker:

And I created an assessment for you for that.

Speaker:

So you could take a look at that and see, and it's just, you know, goes through

Speaker:

the things that you do during the day.

Speaker:

And then you can have, I use a specific process that combines a hip

Speaker:

and EFT for the tapping because the tapping calms down the nervous system.

Speaker:

So it's not all upset, pulling its hair out.

Speaker:

And then the hypnosis part of it actually changes what's going on

Speaker:

and reframes it like that gentleman.

Speaker:

His mom is actually using this process with him by going, Okay,

Speaker:

that's what you heard and I hear that you heard it and I'm very sorry.

Speaker:

That is not how I feel.

Speaker:

This is how I feel.

Speaker:

And so it changes that out.

Speaker:

So it's just a healing process.

Speaker:

identifying, well, like with any spiritual practice, identifying it.

Speaker:

Meeting it where it is and allowing it to be shifted in your energy system.

Speaker:

Yeah, I love that.

Speaker:

And for everybody who's watching or listening, we're going to have

Speaker:

a link to Roz's assessment so that you all can can take that.

Speaker:

She's provided that.

Speaker:

So thank you, Roz.

Speaker:

That's fantastic.

Speaker:

Yeah, we're big fans of tapping and hypnosis.

Speaker:

The tapping, it's really funny because when you talk to someone about that,

Speaker:

they're like, That looks really weird and it's almost not until you do it

Speaker:

and my husband is a rugby coach and he played when he was younger and It was

Speaker:

so interesting because we were watching an international rugby tournament,

Speaker:

and as the guys were coming onto the field, you could see one of them.

Speaker:

He was tapping.

Speaker:

I said, Matt, he's tapping.

Speaker:

He was like, Oh my gosh, you know, and I can imagine that's a really smart thing

Speaker:

to do when you are in such a nervous system, an overwhelming situation.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And for those that aren't familiar with it, what it actually is, you

Speaker:

are stimulating your meridian points.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

It is.

Speaker:

So it uses the same, well, we all have this, the meridian points that

Speaker:

acupressure and acupuncturist use.

Speaker:

So we're just simply stimulating that point without sticking

Speaker:

a needle in our head.

Speaker:

Can you share a success story with us?

Speaker:

I mean, without obviously telling us who you're talking about, but can you?

Speaker:

Sure.

Speaker:

I know you have had some people have amazing breakthroughs and

Speaker:

totally changed their lives.

Speaker:

Do you just, can you tell us more about that?

Speaker:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker:

Well, I had one client and she's A powerhouse.

Speaker:

By her own definition, truly.

Speaker:

She knows she's a powerhouse.

Speaker:

And she's creating a new business.

Speaker:

She's got this new plan.

Speaker:

She is set up.

Speaker:

And she just won't go forward.

Speaker:

Now, we say that we demotivate ourselves in three places.

Speaker:

Everyone does this.

Speaker:

At the beginning, because you don't know what you're doing.

Speaker:

In the middle, because you're like, ugh, this is harder than I thought.

Speaker:

Wait, there's two million steps, not one.

Speaker:

And this is the big one.

Speaker:

We sabotage ourselves at the end.

Speaker:

Because when you complete that project, you're gonna be new,

Speaker:

you're gonna be different.

Speaker:

You're going to be changed.

Speaker:

You will have a new identity.

Speaker:

And that's the piece that the goal trauma is setting up and

Speaker:

trying to keep you from having.

Speaker:

You cannot change.

Speaker:

It is not safe to change.

Speaker:

It is not safe.

Speaker:

So you think sometimes when you get there, yeah, who am I going to be when I have?

Speaker:

A rockin business.

Speaker:

When I have a successful YouTube channel.

Speaker:

Cause I know that's the field y'all love to work in.

Speaker:

You know, when I have that book published, then what?

Speaker:

What's, who am I gonna be?

Speaker:

What's gonna change?

Speaker:

So, we worked with her and she realized Oh, well, if that's

Speaker:

all it is, I'm done with that.

Speaker:

And because of the way it works, now you input all of the activating.

Speaker:

And her event went live.

Speaker:

She's got people in, filled the class.

Speaker:

And she's rocking and rolling with it.

Speaker:

And the coolest thing is, we also teach this idea of celebrating.

Speaker:

And what we do ourselves is, we only celebrate when it's all done.

Speaker:

What we do is, I am celebrating the progress.

Speaker:

Today, when we're done, I am dancing around my office.

Speaker:

Because I'm celebrating the progress of telling my story to one more beautiful

Speaker:

group of people on this fabulous podcast.

Speaker:

Because that's one of the ways I get my voice out.

Speaker:

So, celebrate, celebrate, celebrate.

Speaker:

Because it motivates you.

Speaker:

You think about it, if your mind, every time you finish a day, your mind has to

Speaker:

beat you up about what you didn't get done, how you wasted time, how you're not

Speaker:

really any further forward than you were, the project's nowhere near being done.

Speaker:

If that's what you have to look forward to, do you really want to

Speaker:

jump out of bed and get started?

Speaker:

But what if you knew that no matter what you did today, when you got done, you

Speaker:

had a celebration, you danced around, jumped up and down, thrilled, you can

Speaker:

get a buddy, you wake up in the morning and go, what progress can I make so

Speaker:

I can dance around and be excited?

Speaker:

And yes, it sounds silly, But when you try it, it's better than having a cookie.

Speaker:

But whatever you want to do, it's the idea of celebrating your progress.

Speaker:

Not demanding perfection.

Speaker:

Not deman I'll wait.

Speaker:

I'll wait till this whole thing is done.

Speaker:

I'll wait till I make a million dollars, then I'll celebrate.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's so funny because for us, we always tell our clients celebrate when you

Speaker:

get your first YouTube video up, celebrate when you get 100 subscribers, celebrate.

Speaker:

What's so interesting is they're less likely to celebrate themselves, but

Speaker:

because they have a virtual assistant who's doing a lot of the work and making

Speaker:

everything look fantastic, they're always complimenting and celebrating them, right?

Speaker:

Sometimes it's easier for us to celebrate people on our team than

Speaker:

it is to celebrate ourselves and the accomplishments that we had.

Speaker:

And so that's been interesting to watch with all of the

Speaker:

clients who are one, getting the support that they finally need.

Speaker:

They need to celebrate too, that you've got that video recorded.

Speaker:

You gave it to your virtual assistant.

Speaker:

Celebrate the fact that you've stepped into the role of being a boss and a

Speaker:

manager and gave constructive criticism, but also gave tons of positive.

Speaker:

And yeah, but it's so much easier to celebrate other people than it

Speaker:

is to celebrate what we've done.

Speaker:

Now, we all put out good stuff.

Speaker:

We drop perfectionism 100 percent completely.

Speaker:

But what you're putting out, you're putting out with your whole soul

Speaker:

and then people resonate with it.

Speaker:

That, this whole thing, there's this whole industry on being magnetic.

Speaker:

You're amazing.

Speaker:

And I'd love to learn more about how people can work with you.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

First, I want you to have the assessment, because the assessment is going to

Speaker:

point out a lot of things, again, we call them mysterious behaviors,

Speaker:

because you're going to go through that assessment and go, Oh, that's not normal.

Speaker:

That kind of, doing that, I thought that was what everybody does.

Speaker:

So I think it's going to be very eye opening for you.

Speaker:

It takes 10 minutes or less.

Speaker:

And then in that, it will lead you to my next step, which is

Speaker:

the Freedom Formula Activation.

Speaker:

And that is the process where we can clear.

Speaker:

It is a group, but it is live.

Speaker:

and you clear one of your deepest goal traumas.

Speaker:

So it's just, it makes my heart sing.

Speaker:

And then from there, we are then in connection with each other.

Speaker:

We are now best buddies, and we can talk about how you can go further

Speaker:

in the work, how you can clear some of the other mysterious behaviors

Speaker:

that are going on, and how you can Fall so in love with yourself that

Speaker:

when somebody says, how are you?

Speaker:

You go, I am amazing.

Speaker:

In fact, I'm perfect.

Speaker:

That's my answer.

Speaker:

How are you today?

Speaker:

Perfect.

Speaker:

Absolutely perfect.

Speaker:

So I would love to share more with your listeners.

Speaker:

It's been so fun to be here today.

Speaker:

This has been amazing.

Speaker:

You have shared so many wonderful things with us.

Speaker:

So like Kirsten said, we are all going to be taking your assessment, which

Speaker:

you can find below this recording.

Speaker:

So again, Roz, it's been such a delight.

Speaker:

We so appreciate you coming on and telling your story and educating us on

Speaker:

how to be better and accomplish more goals and get over our goal traumas.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Delight.

Speaker:

Thank you for inviting me.

Absolutely.
