Speaker AExtreme times that demand real strength and impact and the same principle that elite athletes use to build efficient power.
Speaker AWe can really learn something how we can train our spirit to meet this hour.

Speaker ABefore we get into this quick episode today, let's dive into today's Jesus dynamic.
Speaker AI actually have a rather long article that's in the oven baking and this Jesus dynamic is taken from that article.
Speaker AIt's unlike many things I've written.
Speaker AI think it's going to be unusual and unique.
Speaker AIt's a lens through which we can view our experience with Christ in our times.
Speaker AMost Christians picture Jesus in heaven doing primarily one thing right now, interceding for us.
Speaker AWe know the New Testament Scriptures tell us that and how we appreciate that and value that.
Speaker AAnd we imagine him patiently waiting for the day when the Father says go get your bride and he takes up his role as a king on the earth during the millennium and then the new heavens and new earth to follow.
Speaker AWhat if this understanding is incomplete?
Speaker AI don't want to say it's fundamentally wrong, but incomplete.
Speaker AThere is one Psalm that shatters comfortable categories.
Speaker APsalm 110.
Speaker AIt's the most quoted psalm in the New Testament, and the early church treated it as the Master Key.
Speaker AThe Master Key that unlocked what happened for Jesus after the resurrection, meaning his ascension, his session in terms of his enthronement as king and his current role.
Speaker AAnd I'll read just the first verse of the seven verses in Psalm 110.
Speaker AThe Lord said to my Lord.
Speaker AWhat this is is the F saying to Jesus the Son, sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.
Speaker ANow this isn't symbolic language.
Speaker AThis is what we could call throne language, governmental language.
Speaker APeter actually quotes this Psalm, Psalm 110, in Acts chapter 2, on the day of Pentecost, after the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the newly born church.
Speaker AHe quotes this psalm to explain what just happened.
Speaker AHe doesn't say that Jesus will sit there someday.
Speaker AHe says that Jesus is sitting there now and that's why everything has changed.
Speaker AHe's ascended, he's been enthroned.
Speaker AHe's waiting for all things to be put under his feet and he has now poured out his Holy Spirit.
Speaker APaul uses this language.
Speaker AHe must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet.
Speaker AAlluding to Psalm 110, he says that in First Corinthians 15.
Speaker BNow here's what's startling.
Speaker ANot only the most oft quoted Psalm in the New Testament, the most often quoted Old Testament passage period.
Speaker ASo this should speak to us.
Speaker AWe should be paying attention to this.
Speaker APsalm 110 describes a king who rules while his enemies still exist and are even actively resisting.
Speaker AYou see, the Father says in Psalm 110, Rule in the midst of your enemies.
Speaker AThat sounds, does it not exactly like the world that we're living in.
Speaker AI mean, if you have any sensitivity, spiritually certainly going to say that Christ reigns, but opposition remains.
Speaker AAlright, look, I'm a poet and don't even know it.
Speaker AThe throne is established but resistance continues.
Speaker BHere's the picture.
Speaker AJesus isn't waiting to rule.
Speaker AHe's been ruling all along from the moment that he sat down at the Father's right hand.
Speaker AYes, it will reach its zenith during the millennium in the new heavens and new earth to follow.
Speaker ABut make no mistake, it doesn't start at his second coming.
Speaker AIt started at his ascension.
Speaker AAnd that's why I think this article.
Speaker AI've had a fresh level of inspiration and enlightenment understanding about Psalm 110.
Speaker AIt's always been a psalm I've enjoyed and have.
Speaker AI would say it's in the top five favorite Psalms out of the 150.
Speaker ALook, Psalm 110, it may be number one for me.
Speaker AActually it's actually more important to me than Psalm 23, if I can be honest with you.
Speaker APsalm 110 in conjunction with Psalm 2 and Psalm 149.
Speaker AListen, I'll get into it in the article and we'll talk more about it.
Speaker AWe'll probably do a dedicated episode, an expanded version for right now.
Speaker AIt's a Jesus dynamic.
Speaker AI just want to drop It I want to plant the seed.
Speaker ASo with that kingdom framework in mind, Jesus reigning right now, let's talk about what it means to grease the groove in the Holy Spirit.
Speaker AWhat on earth do I mean?
Speaker AAm I making this phrase up?
Speaker AGrease the groove?
Speaker ANo, I'm not.
Speaker AThis comes from Eastern European athletic programs.
Speaker AYou know, back in the day they discovered sports scientists and trainers in the Eastern European nations and in Russia discovered that frequent sub maximal exercises in terms of strength training.
Speaker AThey called it greasing the groove.
Speaker AThe Russian Pavel Satsulin.
Speaker AI'm close on that pronunciation I feel, but probably not perfect.
Speaker APavel Satsaleen came to the west and popularized this concept of greasing the groove in terms of training in the West.
Speaker AGreasing the groove trains not just our muscles but our central nervous system.
Speaker ACns, our central nervous system.
Speaker AAnd this is the key.
Speaker AWhat this does is it optimizes muscle efficiency and it maximizes strength.
Speaker ANow I'm on a personal experiment right now.
Speaker BI've been on a health quest since.
Speaker AApril of last year when I got hit with shingles.
Speaker BHere's how it works.
Speaker AYou get your maximum number of push ups that you can do.
Speaker AIn my case currently it was like 31.
Speaker AThen you take 50% of that amount, which would be 15, and you do.
Speaker BThese really quick short sets throughout the day.
Speaker B15 push ups spread throughout the day in multiple sets, maybe separated by an hour, an hour and a half in between.
Speaker AAnd it's easy to do of course.
Speaker BBut what we want to concentrate on is form and execute technique and concentrate and it trains our central nervous system.
Speaker BNow what I'm doing is I'm going through this process for two weeks, like six days a week for two weeks and basically doing about a total of about 100 push ups a day.
Speaker BBut it's spread out throughout the day.
Speaker BIt's not that difficult to do, although I am feeling a little sore and my body's not used to it.
Speaker BBut hey, that's okay.
Speaker BIt's good to be sore.
Speaker BIt trains your central nervous system.
Speaker BAnd then I'm going to test my max again after a two week period.
Speaker BSo that's actually this coming Monday after the weekend I'm going to tax my.
Speaker BI'm going to test my maximum again and I'm sure it's going to jump from 31.
Speaker BI'm guessing it's.
Speaker BI'm feeling like it's going to jump to 35, 36 after these two weeks and I'll be thrilled if it jumps to 40, but we'll see in my ultimate goal, Lord willing.
Speaker BAnd if the creek don't rise as they stay, as they say in Kentucky, my goal is really Lord willing to get to 70, 80, 100 push ups max over months like this year.
Speaker BNow today, this concept of greasing the groove, you know, hey, it's not like I'm some kind of a great physical specimen, okay, or great fitness person.
Speaker BIt's, it's, it's not that.
Speaker BBut I do value strength training and walking and you know, I do value exercise, okay?
Speaker BNow today, this concept of greasing the groove and we're going to get to how we do this with our spirit, man.
Speaker BThis concept is used across different domains now, including like learning a new language or learning new anything, you know.
Speaker BSo for example, if you, if you're learning a new language and if you've ever done that like a course or something, you know how challenging that is.
Speaker BAnd maybe you got, maybe you're in college or in some program, you got, let's say you got 60 minutes a day that you can budget towards language acquisition.
Speaker BInstead of studying for 60 minutes straight, it's better to study for four 15 minute segments.
Speaker BThat's called greasing the groove.
Speaker BAnd the constant recall of that spread out throughout a day, throughout a daytime period actually accelerates your learning and solidifies it.
Speaker BSo, but this can be applied to anything.
Speaker BLearning a musical instrument or some techniques and processes in business, efficiency or anything related to personal discipline and, and more.
Speaker BAnd so it's spread across different domains.
Speaker BNow it started out in physical fitness.
Speaker BNow likewise, small repeated spiritual practices can train your spiritual to respond with precision and power.
Speaker BYou know, the apostle Paul tells us to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus in 2nd Timothy 2.
Speaker B1 Strength in our spirit.
Speaker BAnd boy, do we need that today.
Speaker BIt isn't a one time surge.
Speaker BIt grows through faithful repetition each short prayer.
Speaker BFor instance, you know, Paul said to pray without ceasing.
Speaker BHow do we do that?
Speaker BWell, I think we need to have a dedicated time of prayer daily, preferably in the morning.
Speaker BBut any whatever works best.
Speaker BBut then when he says pray without ceasing, what does he mean?
Speaker BWell, we have things to do.
Speaker BOf course we have to work, we got, we got chores, we got things, we projects, whatever we got things to do.
Speaker BIn what sense do we pray without ceasing?
Speaker BWell, I think this could be it.
Speaker BRemaining in a prayerful spirit throughout the day and then pulling aside for 60 seconds, 120 seconds, having a short prayer burst.
Speaker BThat's like greasing the groove.
Speaker BDoing that set of push ups.
Speaker BOkay?
Speaker BEach short prayer, or each moment of gratitude, or each moment of consciously turning our attention and awareness of God and his kingdom throughout the day, each small act of obedience.
Speaker BObedience is faith in motion.
Speaker BIt's like a micro workout.
Speaker BThese are all like micro workouts for your spirit.
Speaker BAnd I think we can grease the groove with our spirit, man.
Speaker BYou know, Paul's said, I don't know where it's at at the moment, but I think he told Timothy that physical exercise profits a little, but godliness profits for all things.
Speaker BAnd you know, we could add for all time, for eternity.
Speaker BSo yes, we need to exercise physically, but godliness, the exercise of godliness, you know, those short prayers, those moments of gratitude, those small acts of obedience consistently, you know, let's not wait to be obedient to and until we are in pain, let's do it so that when the painful time comes, the trial comes, we are in a much better state of readiness for it, right?
Speaker BOr prayer.
Speaker BLet's not wait to engage prayer when we are in a crisis.
Speaker BIf we exercise prayer in this sense of greasing the groove, we will be better prepared to pray and speak to that mountain or speak to that crisis moment.
Speaker BWe'll be strengthened, you see, just like physically, excuse me.
Speaker BI want to strengthen my cns, my central nervous system, so it can work in conjunction in alignment with greater efficiency with my muscular system in terms of movement, in terms of strength in my body, so too in my spirit, which I like to think of my spirit.
Speaker BOur spirit is having the capacity of the, of revelational capacity, intuition, kingdom, consciousness, presence, consciousness, all of those different capacities of our spirit discerning.
Speaker BI want to be strengthened in that everything flows from that core out.
Speaker BThat's why in Proverbs 4 it says to pay attention to our heart, for out of it flow the issues of life.
Speaker BSo spreading across our days, spreading across our weeks, these micro spiritual workouts for our spirit create amazing results.
Speaker BSo we can pray in burst throughout the day, pray without ceasing first.
Speaker BThessalonians 5:17.
Speaker BThis isn't a call to prayer.
Speaker BExhaustion, just like 15 push ups will not exhaust me.
Speaker BIt's actually comfortable in a sense, not in a total sense, but you know what I mean.
Speaker BSo this isn't a call to prayer.
Speaker BExhaustion, though we may have those times, I don't know.
Speaker BOnce in a while in our life we may pray for an hour, we may pray for two hours, we may exhaust ourselves in prayer, I don't know.
Speaker BBut generally speaking, this isn't a prayer, a call to exhaustion.
Speaker BIt's training our heart to stay connected, to stay in a conversational relationship with God and to pray, to intercede.
Speaker BIt looks like a return to gratitude.
Speaker BFrequently, like in America and in Canada we have the Thanksgiving holiday in November.
Speaker BIs that the only time we want to give thanks during the year?
Speaker BNo.
Speaker BWe need quick moments daily, weekly to reset our heart and our mind towards God's goodness.
Speaker BAnd amazingly, the thing about gratitude, once we develop consistency and momentum in that is it becomes magnetic.
Speaker BIt's not some things a mind practice only.
Speaker BNo, it's actually a heart set that God is drawn to and we obey in small consistent ways.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BAnother way that we grease the groove.
Speaker BThese tiny acts of aligning, tuning our will to God's will over time, these micro practices, they compound.
Speaker BThey compound the miracle of compounding in a kingdom sense, in a spiritual sense, building a resilient, responsive spirit.
Speaker BSo Paul says in Ephesians 6:10, you, however, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.
Speaker BThis kingdom strength doesn't require marathon workouts to the point of exhaustion or failure.
Speaker BIt is a rhythm of micro practices, of consistent consciousness, of awareness that grease our spirit.
Speaker BIf we can say that and train us to stand firm, to act and make movement in faith and to bear abundant fruit.
Speaker BYou know this thing about movement in faith, in the physical sense of exercise, There is so much information about the importance of movement.
Speaker BYou cannot be sedentary, walk, do weight bearing, bodyweight exercises in your home or go to the gym.
Speaker BBut all of the different ways of physical movement, how important it is, it helps our joints, it helps our circulatory system, it strengthens our heart, it's good for us cognitively, on and on and on.
Speaker BBut what about acting in faith, faith in motion?
Speaker BHow important is that?
Speaker BThat we make moves daily, weekly, in our faith from our spirit.
Speaker BPersistent practiced alignment.
Speaker BCan we say this persistent practice, alignment with the king's palace produces authentic power and a royal impact in the earth.
Speaker BHoly Spirit, would you inspire us, motivate us, remind us to train our spirit?
Speaker BIt's not a works righteousness, it's an alignment.
Speaker BIt's exercising ourselves towards godliness.
Speaker BAs Paul told Timothy.
Speaker BObedience and movement, consistency and disciplining ourselves.
Speaker BAnd we're reminded, Lord, even now, that to be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to be a disciplined one.
Speaker BIt is to be a pupil, a learner, a walker, a follower.
Speaker BWalking with Jesus, moving with Jesus, yoked with Jesus, moving in the fields, pulling the plow with him, bearing a load, coming against resistance, pulling with our Lord, in the earth we will experience the energy of Jesus, the royal anointing of Jesus, and the power and strength of walking next to one who is stronger than I, stronger than we.
Speaker BAnd yet we're trained and we're reminded of Jesus statement even now.
Speaker BJesus said when one is fully trained, they become like their teacher.
Speaker BAnd that's a reference, my friend, to as we are progressively trained in the Lord, we become like him.
Speaker BWe really do.
Speaker BWe have agency.
Speaker BGreater works than these shall you do, he said.
Speaker BHe looked at his men and said, you feed them.
Speaker BHe turned around in the boat after Jesus stilled the storm, after waking up and said, where is your faith?
Speaker BHe wanted them to do it.
Speaker BSo as we're fully choosing trained as our character is forged.
Speaker BThis takes some time, but we progressively do the works of the Lord.
