Klaudia

Hello happiness seekers. My name is Klaudia. Welcome back to the Alphabet Happiness 26 day boost. Each day I'm sharing a quick science backed Happiness tip one for every letter from A to Z as we count down to the big book launch party at the Science Museum in London on October 31. We are so close and if you cannot join me face to face, you can also sign up for my online webinar on 8th of December on How to live a happier life. I really do hope you have enjoyed this book so far and that it is bringing you the happiness happiness you are after. If you would like a summary of all of the letters that we have explored so far and to find out more details about both events that I've just mentioned, be sure to subscribe to my newsletter on the Happiness Challenge and today's letter is W for Stay Curious and Keep learning. Because wonder is about experiencing that sense of amazement. I feel that wonderful. We take so many things for granted, including our own body, which by the way, if researchers were capable of building from scratch, it will have to include 59 different elements that we are made of and it would cost over 96,000 pounds. Yes, this is how complex, unique and outstanding we are. And there is so much more to consider. Culture, nature, the universe, galaxies, technology, technologies. It's just incredible when we stop to think about that. And the sense of amazement unfortunately declines with age. As with age, we move from asking questions, staying curious, to believing that we know things and we understand how everything works. Studies show that the older you get, the less likely you are to look for new sensations that bring you that sense of wonder. And by doing so you miss a big trick because one there is is absolutely essential to our happiness. That sense of amazement expands our perspective. It help us to grasp that we are part of something bigger. And in turn that means we are more likely to help other people. And this effect is so strong that people are more likely to be kind and helpful just after experiencing amazement when seeing towering eucalyptus trees. Wow. Basically. And that sense of amazement is also very strong emotion. That's why it decreases the level of stress hormones in the body leading to more peaceful outlook. It also leads to increased life satisfaction as we tend to marvel the beauty around us. And that fills us with appreciations for life as we realize that there is so many intriguing experiences around us and ahead of us and we feel great about that. So really plenty of benefits to reap with that idea of sense of amazement. And in the Alphabet of Happiness I explore three different approaches to staying curious and learning. No matter what stage in life you are at and to start you off on the wonder journey. The action for today is set up a calendar reminder for a weekly micro Learning or Micro Curiosity series session. What could you read listen to learn more about during that time? It doesn't have to be long but the idea is that we having some time to learn new things, we having some time to ask questions, stay curious, read things that we maybe never thought about before. Really engaging that curiosity and learning help us to have that sense of wonder and amazement which in turn makes us happier. So thank you so much for listening. I hope you will stay curious. We have only a handful of letters left so see you tomorrow for another happiness boost. Keep tagging me in your posts for a chance to win a signed copy of my book. Keep reviewing the book because through that we spreading the happiness and we're building together a happier world. So thank you so much for all your support and I see you soon. Bye.
