I'm Crystal Oby and we're gonna take you now behind the scenes and share with you what we've been up to and we have some exciting things to share. I love these kind of episodes. It gives us a chance to unwind and to. Get up close and personal with you and share with you what we've been doing to produce this show and what we have coming up. Yeah. One of my favorite things whenever I listen to someone's show is just knowing how it is as they're building what they're doing. And so we want to take you guys on that journey with us to a hundred episodes to make sure that as we are actually doing it, we capture it in real life because that makes it more interesting. Whenever you're able to capture the real deal along the way and not just in a hundred episodes, then we just summarize it, right? So whenever we take you on the journey with us, it'll just be a lot more fun and it'll be really interesting to look back together. That's right. So one of the things that we like to talk about is some of our growth, the metrics and just things that we're looking at to track what's going on with the show. And so with our downloads and listeners and things like that. One thing we have noticed is that we have a lot of people that listen to the show in the middle of the night, and so we think that's really funny because we've been in the season of having young kids and I've been like up nursing and things like that. So I imagine you may be listening to this show and you may be up nursing or you may be up putting in some extra work or something like that, and we just wanna let you know that we see you. And we are producing this show for all the parents out there who are listening to the show when they're, at the gym or driving to work, or even up in the middle of the night needing something to listen to while they're trying to take care of that baby. So we just wanted to let you know that we see you. And we also notice that a lot of people are finding our show. Every time we put out a new episode. Like every new episode, we're getting spikes in growth. And people are sharing the show and talking about it, and we've even started meeting people and letting us know that they've been listening to it. So yeah, that's been really exciting. Yeah. And one of the the things that has been interesting of. Looking at our demographics so far, we're excited to know that most of our listeners are coming right here from the United States. And we have a good number of people right here in Texas listening to the show and one of the top most listed episodes that we reported last time was still your episode, Anthony, and that is still holding true at this recap. What's what it looks like is that people are loving whatever our latest episode is, of course. And so our growth is happening with each episode we put out and then people are digging in and going and finding and listening to your like origin story. That's interesting. So no matter how many episodes we put out and how much we grow, they're still digging back and finding your story. So that's holding true and that's gonna be interesting to see as we continue forward. I did just sit down to the, in the recording studio and open up my veins and reveal all, that's what I did on that episode. And if you want to come and hear Anthony Bear all you will find it on that episode. Yeah. So many people are listening to it. I feel like I need to go back and listen to it again and say, what was he doing? Is he giving like the cure for cancer up in this episode or something? What's going on here? That's still holding true. And then also what we've learned about podcasting is not only all the technical things and all the things that we have to do to actually produce a podcast, but we've just learned how much we love it. Like every episode that we're putting out is just growing our love for just the industry of podcasting and the impact of podcasting and just the whole process of podcasting. So we are becoming more in love with podcasting itself. As we continue down this process, so I don't see us going anywhere anytime soon. Even our kids want a podcast now. Yeah. One of the things that we start off in our relationship doing is writing a book. We wrote a, our first book while we were still dating, and we wrote it when I was we when we started that when I was in Atlanta. And you were in Indiana, right? Yeah. So we were. Yeah, we were in our teens. Yeah, exactly. Okay. So this is who we are. We are teachers at heart. And I'm just so thankful that this medium of being able to reach and share with people and make an impact has become so accessible at this particular time in history where we're ready to teach and. Not having any more babies and that type of thing, and just have a little bit more margin to focus in on it. Yeah. We had a radio show, a Christian radio show we did on the radio. Oh my goodness. Got a chance to do a little DJing. Yeah, that's, and then remember we had our own radio. We were on a radio show, but we would also have had our own radio show. That's right. And where we would get written letters in about people listening to the show. And now we're. You said everything is just, digital, which full circle. Yeah. So that has been really great to see. Yeah, of course we love podcasting. This is like being on radio and having the impact like that, but so much more accessible. So yeah, definitely that. And then, so another thing is that based on us doing the show, the hard, one of the hardest things for us has been just getting us both together. Because the big value for our show is that both of us are here. Now we can just. Record individually, and both of us love to record. Both of us have a lot to say. We have lots of thoughts and lots of information and wanna help. But a big thing on this show is we do it together so that we get both of our perspectives and just get a chance to have more of a full circle view on the financial situation for homeschool families. Yeah. And what that means is not only do we have to both individually be available and ready. We both have to have, be ready at the same time, and then we have to have life worked out to be able to do that as well. So our biggest hindrance to podcasting is the fact that we're trying to do it with two whole people who are already super busy. And so That's right. That has been, I'd say the biggest thing. Yeah. One thing we are talking about doing coming up is moving to video podcasting, and that's always been something we wanted to do. Yes. But we started with audio so that we could make it easier for ourselves. That's right. Just to be able to get the message going. Yes. On this show, this is the Homeschool Money podcast and what we teach in our course and what we are teaching homeschool families. Is you have to do things in a way that is most streamlined for you. You have to do things in a way that makes it doable for you for busy moms, especially if you're, wrangling the kids and your homeschooling your kids. And you have a busy schedule. You have a very full plate. Obviously we see you because we are you. And it's been that way for us. And so we would rather get started with audio only podcast than just not be able to get started at all. Because being video camera ready all the time is an extra barrier. And when you produce video, there is more it is more of a production a worker production. Within the timeframe that it would take to do three podcasts, we can get out three podcasts for every single one video that it would take us to produce. And so that's why we have been audio up to this point. Now we do plan on going to video because we want this this information that we have coming up in all this information really. But the information we have and the content that we have coming up, we want to be accessible to everybody. And we want it to be able to spread faster. And so we are going to be moving to that format and do the work that we need to do to be able to do it. But we have been grateful to be able to get started with audio only podcasting. But we would, we do have plans on moving to video. Yep. So stay tuned. One of these updates will be saying, Hey, we're on video now. That's right. We're on YouTube. Yeah, we're on all the places. All the places. Yeah. And so we also have a lot of great guests coming up on the show. So there we have a whole list of people who are ready to come on the show and set and say what they've been up to be able to afford homeschooling, be able to help all, to help you know, what kind of businesses are available, what kind of financial. But we'll have a little bit of cold weather left. But all those things that go on. Are times where we're thinking about what we're gonna talk to you about, what we're gonna share with you and what you're gonna need. And there's lots of things that are time sensitive. They're gonna be coming up on the show, so you're gonna see lots of episodes come out and drop that. You'll say, oh man, I'm glad this came at this time, because it's so relevant. Is that we have lots of collaborations and partnerships and opportunities that's coming from the show that's gonna be able to help you be able to have more for your kids and more for your work and more just for your finances. And one thing we just did was we just spoke at PO Fest in Orlando. And so like really? Yeah, I was really excited that that happened and that you were able to be one of the speakers at Pop that, that's you. That was a really great way to kick off the school year for our kids because it was the new year time and we got a chance to be in sunny Florida and then come back to the winter storm in Dallas. Yeah. But the kids got a chance to go to Orlando and I got a chance to speak there, and we love podcasting and we're looking forward to doing more in the podcasting industry, but being able to. Talk with so many people that ended up being homeschoolers. There are lots of people in the podcasting industry. It's like now people come up to me and they tell me their war stories and all this kind of stuff, and they're like coming outta the woodwork and they're saying, you know what? I was homeschooled and it was wonderful. And there's so many people that were meeting all over the country. We didn't hear about whenever we were thinking about homeschooling. It wasn't like that. There was never Right that many people, but now I'm like, where did all these people come from Who were homeschooled? Yeah. And they were, had really great experiences. So it's just such a great time right now to be homeschooling and just know there's a lot of people out there that are homeschooled and are now homeschooling their kids and they're very supportive of the mission of homeschooling. And they're out there working careers to support their families working remotely, doing businesses, and it's just the country is just so homeschool friendly right now. It's a really great time. So being on the road really showed us that with everybody's just so receptive to homeschooling and being able to have that flexibility to be able to be gone. We were, we went and we spoke at Pod Fest and then we turned it into a whole vacation. So we were actually gone for 10 days. We were. Yeah. And so it was great to be able to have the kids be able to be on the road like that and then not be disruptive and it just be a wonderful time. So we have lots of things coming up places we're gonna be, and we will make sure that you know about that so that you can see us in person if you want to meet and be BBFF. And but we'll keep you posted on that. And if you.
