Hey, everybody.
Speaker AWelcome to the podcast.
Speaker AThis is Brian Del Turco, Jesus Smart X Podcast.
Speaker AI'm glad you're here.
Speaker AWe have a low production value, but hopefully a very high content value today.
Speaker AThere's some equipment issues and software transferability issues that's going on.
Speaker AAnd so you're not hearing music, not hearing effects, but it'll come back.
Speaker AIt's coming.
Speaker ABut we believe the content is high in this episode.
Speaker AAnd let me ask a question.
Speaker AHave you ever felt that you're waiting for that perfect moment to act, to move on something?
Speaker AYou're like, analyzing it, if we're honest, probably over analyzing it.
Speaker AYou're hesitating, you're overthinking it.
Speaker AMaybe the worst procrastinating.
Speaker ABut what if that key to breaking through into that new thing isn't waiting, but the key is taking massive action?
Speaker ASo welcome to the show today.
Speaker AMy name is Brian Del Turco.
Speaker AAnd if you're feeling stuck right now, whether it's in work or relationships, maybe in your faith itself, which is core or a personal goal, a project, a personal horizon you're pursuing, then this episode is for you.
Speaker AToday I want to talk about a strategy.
Speaker AIt's not original with me, but we can call it Flooding the Zone.
Speaker AAnd the name of the title of the podcast today is Flood the Zone.
Speaker AOverwhelm your stuckness with action.
Speaker ASo flooding the Zone.
Speaker AWhen things aren't moving, sometimes the best thing you can do is overwhelm your stuckness with action.
Speaker ASo let's get into this.
Speaker ALet's talk about the problem, why we get stuck.
Speaker AWe have the resourcing.
Speaker AIf you have a faith in Christ, you have the resourcing of prayer, of faith, of receiving vision from your heavenly Father.
Speaker AThese are tremendous resources that are above the normal.
Speaker ABut there are also some very practical dynamics that we need to.
Speaker ATo apply.
Speaker ASo maybe you've been trying to start something.
Speaker ALet's say it's a creative project.
Speaker AOh, maybe it's a healthier lifestyle.
Speaker AHow many times have we started that or tried to a business?
Speaker AMaybe you're wanting to get married and you're starting, you're wanting to start a relationship.
Speaker AOr maybe you're facing an opportunity, you know, like a marriage or a relationship, for example, or maybe a new friendship.
Speaker AYou're facing an opportunity.
Speaker AIt's not just challenges and pain points.
Speaker AIt's also aspirations and opportunities that you can get stuck on.
Speaker ASo you're facing an opportunity, but the doubt is leeching in.
Speaker AThe uncertainty is holding you back.
Speaker ANow, one of the reasons we get stuck is that we're waiting for things to align perfectly.
Speaker ABut here's the truth.
Speaker ACome on, let's just be real and honest about it.
Speaker AClarity often comes after we start taking action, not before.
Speaker ALike, young man, if you're thinking about that young lady and you're wondering about the possibility of building a relationship and for her to say yes to a marriage, you're not going to find out until you start moving on it.
Speaker AYou have to iterate and explore it, right?
Speaker ASo oftentimes the clarity comes after we start to take action and more action, not before.
Speaker AAnd we can apply this to anything.
Speaker ASo instead of waiting and waiting and procrastinating and getting in a fetal position.
Speaker AOh, it's just not going to happen.
Speaker AWait.
Speaker AWhat if you just flooded the zone?
Speaker AWhat if you took so much action?
Speaker AThis is a great question.
Speaker AWhat if you took so much action that being stuck became impossible?
Speaker AWhat if you overcame your stuckness with energy and action?
Speaker ASo have you ever felt overwhelmed?
Speaker AIt's a very uncomfortable feeling.
Speaker AI'm overwhelmed about something, right.
Speaker AI'm in overwhelm.
Speaker AMaybe it's because you've been putting something off or feeling unprepared or not having much confidence because you haven't taken any practical steps on that matter.
Speaker ABut that can often be a sign that the breakthrough is closer than you think.
Speaker AThe stuckness and the resistance that's coming at you about that could be a sign, it could be an indicator that the breakthrough is closer than you think.
Speaker ASo let's dive into this.
Speaker ALet's talk about four ways that we can flood the zone again.
Speaker AIf you're a person of faith, if you have faith, you have the resourcing of prayer, of reaching out to your heavenly Father for counsel, of leaning into the Holy Spirit for ideation and solutions, and a lead.
Speaker ABut if we can couple it, if we can couple that with these practical concepts, and we can take these concepts and super plus them with our relationship with the Lord, with the creativity of the Holy Spirit, with the power of his word and prayer, right?
Speaker AWith that identity and that security that you get from your Heavenly Father as you cultivate that relationship, you can supersize or super plus these practical steps.
Speaker AHere's the first one.
Speaker AReach out and expand your network.
Speaker AReach out and expand your network.
Speaker AWe're talking about four quick ways to flood the zone.
Speaker AI'm not saying these are the only four.
Speaker AI'm saying that these are some core ideas.
Speaker AAnd we'll just mention these four.
Speaker AReach out and expand your network.
Speaker AI'm not meant to do life or to try to lead something or create something alone.
Speaker AAnd if I'm feeling stuck, maybe it's time for me to widen my circle.
Speaker AAnd so what you can do is you can get exposed.
Speaker AYou can step into spaces that challenge the status quo.
Speaker AYou have to disrupt yourself.
Speaker AOkay, you're stuck.
Speaker AI'm stuck.
Speaker AYou're procrastinating.
Speaker AI'm overanalyzing.
Speaker AWhatever.
Speaker AWe're not moving, but we can step into spaces that disrupt ourselves and challenge our status quo.
Speaker AWe need to expose ourselves to new ideas, maybe new communities of people, new circles of relationships.
Speaker AWe need to acquire maybe some new skills, some things that stretch our comfort zone.
Speaker AThere's more.
Speaker AThose aren't the only things, but those are some ideas connect with new people who bring fresh ways of seeing things and fresh ideas into your life.
Speaker AThese could be professional relationships, maybe casual relationships.
Speaker ADo you know, I just saw it again.
Speaker AI keep seeing articles on this, that it's very healthy for you, mentally, emotionally, in terms of your perspective, to talk with strangers, to just talk with strangers about something.
Speaker AMaybe strike up a conversation with a stranger.
Speaker ANot only will it help you socially and emotionally, but there may be an intangible or a fresh way of seeing something.
Speaker AOr maybe you can talk about the things you're interested in and help them as well.
Speaker ABut.
Speaker ABut connecting with new people bring fresh ideas.
Speaker AHow about engaging with mentors or peers who challenge you?
Speaker AMaybe you have old mentors that you would like to breathe some life onto.
Speaker AMaybe you need some new mentors.
Speaker AProbably do different seasons.
Speaker ALife evolves.
Speaker ALife iterates.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker APeople come in and out of our lives.
Speaker AYou will have friendships and maybe peers that will be lifers who will walk with you through life.
Speaker ABut you will have many more who come in and come and go in different seasons.
Speaker AAnd the Lord uses that to bring what you need in that season and to develop you and to position you for the next season after that.
Speaker ABut engaging with mentors and peers who challenge you, having conversations that spark insight.
Speaker ADon't underestimate the power of talking over coffee.
Speaker AThe natural caffeination, as well as, more importantly, the mental stimulation, the emotional caffeination, and the new perspectives that can percolate.
Speaker ASometimes one key relationship changes everything.
Speaker ABut you won't find it unless you put yourself out there.
Speaker ASo that's the first tip I would like to mention.
Speaker AReaching out and expanding your network.
Speaker AYour network should never be.
Speaker AI'm talking about your relational network.
Speaker AIt should never be static for years upon years.
Speaker AIt should be dynamic.
Speaker AThere will probably be some pruning, but there Will also be growth.
Speaker AAnd hopefully what we're looking for is an increased fruitfulness.
Speaker ASomeone says your worth is your net worth or the worth of your network.
Speaker AThere's a lot of truth to that.
Speaker ASo reaching out.
Speaker AOkay, here's the second tip.
Speaker AGet exposed to new things by stepping into new spaces.
Speaker AOkay, we need to read books.
Speaker AReading is one of the most powerful things you can do.
Speaker ADo you know that there are statistics that if you read the top three books in some area of interest or some space you're trying to grow in, maybe it's professional, maybe it's just personal, you will be in something like the top 3 percentile of all people in the planet, on the planet with expertise in that area.
Speaker ABut it just takes the discipline of reading, television, doom scrolling, being envious and coveting others by scrolling, all of that stuff will help you 0.
Speaker AThere is no help from that.
Speaker ABut quality books, quality podcast, quality YouTube videos, maybe you're taking a class, maybe you're in a full on education program, maybe you're in a reading group.
Speaker AThese will help.
Speaker AAttending events, attending conferences, or connecting with online communities that stretch us.
Speaker AWhen you attend an event or a conference, the power of it is that you're pulling yourself out of your normal space, your normal rhythm and you're in a totally new space with others who have very similar interests.
Speaker AAnd you're going to hear speakers and meet people and maybe participate in events that are going to be incredibly stimulating.
Speaker AI like to think of conferences as conferring with others.
Speaker AYou hear that word in conference, Conferring with others.
Speaker AIf it's a faith conference or something that's in the faith space or in the Christ following space, I see the conferring as two dimensional.
Speaker AWe're conferring vertically with God together and we're conferring horizontally with each other.
Speaker ABut this idea of exploring different perspectives, even if they challenge your assumptions, and basically you're growing, you're being educated.
Speaker ADon't stop.
Speaker ADon't stop being educated.
Speaker ADo you know the meaning of the English word educate from the Latin root?
Speaker AThe Latin root means a calling to call forth.
Speaker AEducation helps you to emerge, it calls you forth.
Speaker AYou can be more, you can do more.
Speaker AAnd education is key to that.
Speaker ASo exposure to new ideas can lead to the shift that you, that you've been waiting for.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker ASo here we go, man.
Speaker ATwo tips.
Speaker AFirst, one is reach out and expand your relational network.
Speaker ANumber two is get exposed and step into new spaces through learning new things.
Speaker AEducating today, there's no reason not to learn.
Speaker AWe have access to the Internet.
Speaker AEverything is democratized.
Speaker AThere are free courses.
Speaker ADo you know that you could take free courses from Harvard?
Speaker AYes, you can.
Speaker AThere are free courses that Harvard offers that if you want to take a whack at a course from Harvard, even if you butcher it, but just the joy of trying to go through a course at Harvard.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker AI mean, multiple universities and schools have this.
Speaker AThere are all kinds of opportunities for education and skill gathering skill.
Speaker AOkay, Number three, take massive action.
Speaker AWe're talking about progress over perfection.
Speaker AA lot of people stay stuck because they're waiting for that perfect plan.
Speaker AYou know, they're waiting for that perfect time.
Speaker ABut real progress comes.
Speaker AListen to this.
Speaker AWhen you take imperfect action, do you think the, the disciples.
Speaker AJesus is a gives us a master class in leading people and getting them to take massive action.
Speaker AHe only had them for three and a half years and he left like the most important thing in history.
Speaker AHe left it with them after three and a half years.
Speaker AHe took these rough people.
Speaker ASome say that many of these guys were teenagers.
Speaker AI just heard recently that Peter may have been 24, the oldest, and the others may have been teenagers.
Speaker AAmazing.
Speaker AOf course, everything was earlier back then.
Speaker AThey didn't have attracted adolescents back then.
Speaker AOkay, but he immersed them, he taught them and then he immersed them in action.
Speaker AThey took massive action.
Speaker AHe sent them out on missions, he taught them, he immersed them.
Speaker AMassive action.
Speaker AThey accelerated, they grew, they matured quickly.
Speaker ATake massive action.
Speaker ASee, it doesn't have to be perfect.
Speaker AWere his disciples perfect?
Speaker AOf course not Many times there were case studies in dysfunction and carnality and selfishness and pride.
Speaker AYou know, it doesn't have to be perfect.
Speaker ABut we're talking about progress, not perfection.
Speaker AProgress, not perfection will open doors.
Speaker AIt very well can open doors.
Speaker ASo instead of waiting to launch something, start, get like a minimum viable amount of information and resourcing to start something.
Speaker AYou don't have to have a full blown federal case budget and a master plan that comes out of the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Speaker ATo do something, start it, you need something minimal.
Speaker AYou need a vision, you need a mission.
Speaker AYou need maybe some minimal resources, some minimum ideas to get started.
Speaker ABut just start and then iterate.
Speaker ADon't overthink it.
Speaker ACommit to take a step forward today, even if there's some, some edge that you want to pursue.
Speaker AAnd today I am going to find the best YouTube video I can find on this topic and I'm going to watch it today or I'm going to do some research and find out the top, top book or Two in this space.
Speaker ABut you need to trust that momentum will build as you begin to move.
Speaker APlease.
Speaker AOh, I really should have a mirror that I can pull out from time to time.
Speaker ABecause listen, I'm on a journey with.
Speaker AI'm on a journey too, okay?
Speaker AAnd I'm learning.
Speaker AI'm not the learned.
Speaker AI'm learning myself.
Speaker AAnd the Lord seeks to coach me up as well, just as he does you.
Speaker ABut begin and iterate.
Speaker ABegin fast, fail fast and iterate.
Speaker AElon Musk will tell you, fail fast and iterate.
Speaker AFind out what doesn't work, okay?
Speaker ABut you do that through movement and momentum.
Speaker AYou don't need the full picture to take that first step.
Speaker ADid Abraham have the full picture when he.
Speaker AWhen God called him?
Speaker ANo, it says he went out not knowing where he was, where he was going.
Speaker ABut as he journeyed with God, he learned and he progressed.
Speaker AAnd the Lord developed him through the journey.
Speaker AAnd that's what he'll do with you and me.
Speaker AAs we're taking massive action, there will be temptations, there will be obstacles.
Speaker AWe will be coached up how to overcome these things, how to not be distracted, how to stay focused, taking massive action.
Speaker ASo there's our three tips so far.
Speaker AI got a fourth one.
Speaker ANumber one again, reach out and expand your network.
Speaker AYou have to increase the surface area of your relationships.
Speaker AOkay?
Speaker AYou have to increase the surface area of your relationships.
Speaker ABy the way, a little aside here, young man.
Speaker AWe have statistics today that, you know, marriage is declining and even young women are not wanting to get married and have children.
Speaker AAnd this is just part of the cultural melody that we swim in right now.
Speaker AAnd hopefully in the faith world, those who follow Christ, it's not quite that way, but some of that is leeching into the faith world.
Speaker ALook, if you're looking for a quality spouse, my wife and I were talking about this.
Speaker AYou know, we have daughters that we counsel.
Speaker AIf you're looking for a quality spouse, here's some of the.
Speaker APray because God puts these things together.
Speaker AI don't want to over make it over mystical.
Speaker AI don't want to put a hyper pressure that there's only one soul on the planet and I have to find them.
Speaker AAnd if I don't, I'm not going to have a great marriage.
Speaker AIt's not like that.
Speaker ABut you do need to look to the Lord for guidance and then increase your surface area.
Speaker AIncrease your surface area of potentially meeting that future spouse in pools of people or genres of people, you know.
Speaker ASo for a Christian, you want to marry in the Lord and so that would include churches.
Speaker AAnd I'm even suggesting you attend two churches.
Speaker AI am.
Speaker AI've seen it done.
Speaker AAnd for this season in your life, you may want to have one main home church, but you also may want to attend another church.
Speaker AI, I, I see nothing wrong with that.
Speaker AMeet new people.
Speaker AIt may be that the person you know, they know someone who knows someone you know.
Speaker AGo to conferences, go to events, go to fun events, but just increase the surface area and the opportunity of proximity.
Speaker AOkay?
Speaker AAll the while you're praying and looking to the Lord and trusting him with this process.
Speaker ABut see, you, you're expanding your surface area.
Speaker AOkay, that's just an aside there for number one.
Speaker ANumber two, just touch on it.
Speaker AStep into new spaces through education and learning new things.
Speaker ANumber three, go ahead and take that massive action.
Speaker AStart taking it.
Speaker AYou can't steer a car unless it's moving.
Speaker AMaybe you start taking some action.
Speaker AThat's not quite accurate.
Speaker AIt's close, but not well.
Speaker AThe Lord will guide you.
Speaker AYou can steer it.
Speaker AYou can get on the right road.
Speaker AOkay, Number four.
Speaker ANow focus with intensity.
Speaker AFocus with intensity when you want to get unstuck.
Speaker AWith massive action.
Speaker AFocus with intensity.
Speaker AZero in on what matters.
Speaker ASo this is about eliminating distractions and really taking a deep dive into what truly matters.
Speaker AAnd so the action that you're taking is going to have an intense focus to it.
Speaker AAnd when you do this, it creates the space for meaningful breakthroughs.
Speaker ADistraction is the enemy of momentum.
Speaker AIf you want to break through, you have to dial in.
Speaker AYou gotta focus, you gotta lock in.
Speaker ASo you gotta go for the signal and not the noise.
Speaker AIf you, if you catch what I'm saying here, cut out noise and unnecessary distracting.
Speaker AEven think about the word distract.
Speaker AWhat does it mean to take you off track?
Speaker ADistract.
Speaker ASchedule deep time where you can push towards your goals, whatever they may be, and be ruthless with your attention.
Speaker ADo you know one of the greatest commodities on earth today, the greatest currency is time.
Speaker AAnd we may be able to say that the second greatest currency is attention.
Speaker AWhat you give your attention to in, in time.
Speaker AAnd they know in marketing, they know in political science, they know in different domains that attention is a premium.
Speaker AAnd so be ruthless with your attention.
Speaker AWhat you focus on magnifies, tends to magnify and grow and positions you for success.
Speaker ASo as you flood the zone, flood the zone with focused effort, with max, with, with maximum action, things will start to shift.
Speaker AYou will feel it all the while you're praying.
Speaker AYou see, my friend, you want to as much as possible, hear the voice of the Lord, and you want to move in what I call prayer, born action.
Speaker APray about it.
Speaker AYou don't have to have an angel talk to you about it.
Speaker AYou just pray.
Speaker AIf you feel anything in your heart in terms of instinct or desire, begin to lean and move into it.
Speaker AKeep praying, keep moving, keep focusing and things will start to shift.
Speaker AIf it's off a little bit, the Holy Spirit will guide you.
Speaker ASometimes we don't get, don't, don't make this mistake.
Speaker ASometimes we don't get stuck by making one big move.
Speaker AWe think, oh, this is not a big move.
Speaker AAnd so don't underestimate many small moves compounding over time.
Speaker AWe get unstuck by making many small ones that compound over time.
Speaker APeriodically there may be a quantum shift or a break.
Speaker AWhat feels like a breakthrough, but it's surrounded before and after and underneath and on top by many small action steps that compound over time.
Speaker AAnd as we flood the zone with action, we can see what begins to shift.
Speaker AYou can feel the peace of the Lord in your heart.
Speaker AYou can feel the affirmation of the Lord.
Speaker AYou feel like the Lord's smiling on this.
Speaker AI feel it on the inside.
Speaker AIt's making me smile.
Speaker AAnd other people around me are starting to smile because they're seeing me smile and they sense that something is shifting and you draw down the fathers aspirational heart for you.
Speaker AOkay, there they are.
Speaker AThe four tips again.
Speaker ATo recapitulate, to use an old fashioned educational word, reach out and expand your network.
Speaker AIncrease your surface area.
Speaker ANumber two, get exposed to new ideas and new new concepts and step into new spaces of learning.
Speaker ANumber three.
Speaker AYes, go ahead and start taking that massive action.
Speaker AIt's progress over perfection.
Speaker ABy the way, don't go by emotions.
Speaker ADo you understand that usually emotions trail massive action?
Speaker AEmotions are on the coattails of taking massive action.
Speaker ASo we don't go by feelings.
Speaker AWe don't wait until we feel like it.
Speaker ANo, we make a decision.
Speaker AWe take massive action.
Speaker AAnd the feelings.
Speaker AStart the right feelings when you're doing the right things.
Speaker AOkay then number four, as you're doing this, focus with intensity.
Speaker AKeep all of this covered in prayer and just lean into the Lord.
Speaker ATrust not in your own self and your own understanding, as it says in Proverbs 3, but in all of your ways, acknowledge him, which means to know him relationally and intimately in the Hebrew there, and he will straighten out and smooth your pathways.
Speaker AWhat a tremendous promise.
Speaker ASo that's the challenge.
Speaker ANow what's your next move?
Speaker AWhat's my next move?
Speaker AJournal.
Speaker ASuccessful people.
Speaker AJournal Write down your pain points, write down your aspirations.
Speaker AWrite down what action steps you feel you need to start taking now.
Speaker AAs you get ideas and insights, capture them, review it, rehearse it, pray over it.
Speaker AOver.
Speaker AOpen that journal up before the Lord, ask him to bless it.
Speaker AWhat one action can you begin to take today to start flooding the zone?
Speaker AMaybe it's reaching out to someone.
Speaker AMaybe it's consuming some new idea.
Speaker AMaybe.
Speaker AMaybe it's taking a bold step.
Speaker AOr maybe it's just a resolve and I'm going to lock in my focus and, and, and come hell or come hell or high water this week, I'm going to lock in my focus like an astronaut.
Speaker AOkay?
Speaker AWhatever it is, don't wait.
Speaker AMove now.
Speaker AIf this episode spoke to you, share it with someone that you feel would value it as well.
Speaker AAnd that's what it's all about here at Jesus Smart X.
Speaker ALet's stop waiting and start building momentum together.
Speaker AThe world is waiting for you.
Speaker AThere are.
Speaker AThere are things that you're built to to address.
Speaker AThere are.
Speaker AThere are parts of the garden that you're called to cultivate.
Speaker AThere are things that you're supposed to design and draw down God's higher design over it.
Speaker AThere are solutions you're called to bring.
Speaker AThere are answers you're called to deliver.
Speaker AAnd the world is waiting for you.
Speaker AThe body of Christ is waiting for you.
Speaker AThis will bless your family or your future family.
Speaker AThis will bless your grandkids.
Speaker AA lot of things are counting on you and me.
Speaker AAll right, Little challenge there for me.
Speaker ASo until next time, stay focused, stay engaged, and keep moving forward.
