Speaker BAnd now, here's your host, Roger Wesley.
Speaker BHey there, My name is Roger Wesley, your host of the Successfully Unemployed Podcast.
Speaker BAnd I am fired up for you today because today we're going to be doing an introduction.
Speaker BI thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself to you so that way we can get to know each other better.
Speaker BAs you all know, Dustin's been a phenomenal host.
Speaker BHe started this podcast years ago and I'm excited to be the one taking it over.
Speaker BBut I would love for you to get to get to know a little bit more about who I am, my background, and what we're going to be covering together.
Speaker BSo let's dive right in.
Speaker BDo you want to hear the story of how I went from being homeless to a homeowner?
Speaker BDo you want to understand and learn some of the principles that you can apply in your own life so that you too can become successfully unemployed?
Speaker BSee, when I was chatting with Dustin not too long ago, what we learned was that Dustin has created a wild amount of success.
Speaker BHe was able to cut his teeth in real estate, was able to pick up a lot of single family homes about 30 while he was still working, and he was able to become successfully unemployed.
Speaker BWell, out of his passion, out of his hunger, out of his drive to help other people to achieve a similar result, he created this podcast once he was already successfully unemployed.
Speaker BWell, we were thinking and we were brainstorming together and we were like, hey, wouldn't it be great if we could have someone host a show, interview people from a perspective of someone that still has a job, Someone that's still going through that process of becoming successfully unemployed?
Speaker BAnd that's how we got to having me being the host of this show.
Speaker BAnd I am thrilled and very excited to be taking over this podcast.
Speaker BIt's an amazing responsibility and amazing opportunity, and I'm so glad that I have you to go through this journey with.
Speaker BNow, again, a little bit about myself.
Speaker BI do have a job currently, at this very moment in time, but I am also an entrepreneur.
Speaker BI am the CEO of Inspire to Excel.
Speaker BAnd we help businesses change their culture from me to we by increasing their performance.
Speaker BAnd on this journey of me becoming successfully unemployed, I realized that I can't do it alone.
Speaker BI need to include other people in my life.
Speaker BSo I'd like to take you back a little bit further back in my journey and kind of share that fact that I'm probably not so dissimilar from you or people that, you know, I was raised in a two parent household, had phenomenal parents.
Speaker BThey were awesome, knocked it out of the park.
Speaker BI will admit that when I was a kid, I was picked on a little bit because my father was a preacher.
Speaker BAnd as a result of that, they required that we studied a lot.
Speaker BSo, you know, we were picked on in school.
Speaker BAnd, you know, people called me a nerd.
Speaker BBut, you know, the main reason why I bring that up is because my mother went to college and I wanted to pursue her college dream.
Speaker BI wanted to go study the same field of study.
Speaker BAnd what ended up happening was I went to school, I ended up changing my major, but I got this biology degree.
Speaker BAnd as soon as I got this biology degree, I started looking for a big boy job.
Speaker BI was waiting tables at Applebee's when I graduated, and I said, you know what?
Speaker BIt's time for me to go find a career.
Speaker BSomething that I can really do for the next 30 to 40 to 50 years.
Speaker BAnd I got this amazing job working as a project manager at a radioactive laboratory.
Speaker BBut guess what?
Speaker BThe wages that they paid me were significantly less than what I was making as a waiter at Applebee's.
Speaker BAnd at that moment in time, years ago, I decided that I was going to have to do something different.
Speaker BI had worked so hard to get that college degree, and here I was, fresh out of college with a very prestigious job making $32,000 a year.
Speaker BFrom then on, I decided to make some changes.
Speaker BNow, fast forward several years.
Speaker BSome circumstances happened in my life, and I actually did end up becoming homeless several years ago.
Speaker BAnd when I became homeless, I decided that I needed to do something different with my life.
Speaker BI needed to make some significant changes.
Speaker BSo what I decided to do was I decided to see how I could connect with others.
Speaker BAnd through the process of connecting with other people, I got introduced to some amazing people.
Speaker BAnd one of those people recommended a book to me.
Speaker BThey recommended me, the book created To Win by Kevin Barrack.
Speaker BAnd what this book taught me how to do was to create a set of values for myself.
Speaker BAnd as a result of those values, to create a mission statement.
Speaker BSo I would like to share a few of those values with you today so that way you can really understand who I am as a person.
Speaker BMy first value is my faith.
Speaker BI am a follower of Jesus Christ.
Speaker BAnd that's been the absolutely best relationship that I've ever had.
Speaker BBack in 2019, a little bit after, I was homeless, and once I wasn't homeless anymore, I got the opportunity to come to know Jesus Christ.
Speaker BAnd it changed everything for me.
Speaker BAnd it wasn't always like that, but when I had, When I finally made that relationship possible, when that relationship happened, it was amazing.
Speaker BIt was thrilling.
Speaker BIt changed everything.
Speaker BNow, mind you, back in 2019, I was single and I was not married.
Speaker BBut I decided back then that my number two value was going to be my marriage.
Speaker BAnd what I learned was that even though I wasn't married yet, I needed to behave and act as if I was planning on being married.
Speaker BWhat did that mean?
Speaker BThat meant that I decided not to go sleep around a bunch of people.
Speaker BIn fact, I decided to take a vow of celibacy.
Speaker BThat was back in 2019, until I ended up meeting and marrying my wife.
Speaker BMy number three value was my family.
Speaker BAnd when I say family, I'm talking about my wife, my kids, and my immediate children.
Speaker BNow, at the time, back in 2019, I was a single father, and there were some turbulent circumstances that led up to that.
Speaker BBut as a single parent, I highly, highly valued giving my daughter, at the time, the best possible scenario in life.
Speaker BHow can I help her?
Speaker BAnd I decided back then that that was going to be a top value and top priority for me.
Speaker BMy number four value is loving my neighbor.
Speaker BAnd to tell you the truth, that's why I'm on this podcast right now.
Speaker BBecause when you love someone, you want to give them the best possible thing.
Speaker BIf you have a spouse, if you Have a girlfriend, if you have children, you want to give them the absolute best that you can.
Speaker BAnd when I made the decision to make loving my neighbor my value, I decided that if I knew something great, if I came in contact with some good information that I was going to share with as many people as I could come in contact with.
Speaker BAnd through chatting with Dustin, I learned that I could share this wonderful information from other people that have become successfully unemployed.
Speaker BThe principles, the values, the things that they have acquired over the years.
Speaker BAnd I could share them right here with you on this podcast.
Speaker BAnd that's one of the main reasons why I'm here now.
Speaker BNumber five for me, debt free.
Speaker BAnd you know, there's a lot of thoughts around debt.
Speaker BAnd I'll share this.
Speaker BWhen I say debt free, I mean consumer debt free.
Speaker BNow, there are some debts that you can use and leverage to be able to help you to gain more income.
Speaker BI'm not talking about those debts.
Speaker BI'm talking specifically about consumer debt.
Speaker BNumber six for me, ongoing income.
Speaker BOngoing.
Speaker BNow, I have to tell you, I did study biology in college, but spelling wasn't my best subject.
Speaker BIf you're picking up what I'm laying down, so please bear with me for those of you that can see me on camera, but ongoing income, this was extremely important because I had this thought process that if I could create enough income that was coming in without me actively earning it, then that way I could take time and spend them with the ones that I love and I could take more time to impact many, many lives and many, many people.
Speaker BNumber seven, generosity.
Speaker BNow, these are the values that I chose back in 2019.
Speaker BAnd when I chose those values back in 2019, I decided that every decision that I made was going to be as a result of the values that I had before I went into some business opportunity, before I considered a job opportunity, before I considered anything, I was going to ask if it lined up with my values.
Speaker BAnd if you're listening to this today, I would encourage you to take a moment and consider doing the same thing for yourself.
Speaker BIt makes life so much easier, so much simpler.
Speaker BAnd through these values, I created a mission statement back in 2019.
Speaker BAnd that mission statement is endeavoring to lead as I am, led by God, while loving my neighbor as myself, exponentially enhancing those around me to reach and achieve excellence by earning their financial independence, blessing and touching millions of lives through life of servitude, humility, and the greatest of these, love, as you can see, loving my neighbor, generosity, ongoing income.
Speaker BThese are things that I not only want for myself.
Speaker BBut these are things that I want for you.
Speaker BAnd by listening to this podcast, by tuning in, you're going to have the opportunity to learn how you too yourself, if you so choose to, can become successfully unemployed.
Speaker BThere's nothing wrong with the job.
Speaker BThere's nothing wrong with trading your time for money.
Speaker BLike I said, I still do it right now, but I'm thrilled for the opportunity when I get to walk away from that.
Speaker BW2 for the last time, I just.
Speaker AWant to take a quick break and share something really important with you.
Speaker AI have a mission statement to help millions of people to create financial independence.
Speaker AOne of the best ways to do that is by investing in real estate.
Speaker AI'm working on doing that right now and I know for a fact that you can too.
Speaker AIf you're getting anything from this episode, two things I would ask please share it with someone else.
Speaker AOther people need to know how they too can become successfully unemployed through real estate and by building businesses.
Speaker ANumber two, I want to help you invest in real estate.
Speaker AI'm using this absolutely amazing course and I got started for free.

Speaker ALet's get back to the show.
Speaker BNow I want to go into a little bit how I met Destin and it's amazing how life works because you never know.
Speaker BI was told through the process of time, sometime between 2019 and today that you are one or two powerful relationships away from changing your entire life.
Speaker BAnd what ended up happening was I was going to this gym and the job that I had at the time gave me flexibility to where I didn't have to work strict nine to five hours.
Speaker BSo I would find myself in the gym around 9 9:30am and I kept seeing this gentleman over and over again and his shirts were always exciting and intriguing.
Speaker BSaid things like money lion and you know, successfully unemployed and things of that nature.
Speaker BSo finally I asked him, I said, hey, man, what are you doing in here?
Speaker BIt's 9:30 on a Tuesday.
Speaker BWhat in the world gives you the opportunity to be in here so frequently at this time?
Speaker BAnd he said, well, I built several businesses and now I'm successfully unemployed.
Speaker BI get to do whatever I want with my time.
Speaker BAnd it was amazing because although that was several years ago when he shared that concept with me, it opened up my brain to see that while I wanted to achieve some of these things, sometimes they felt like they were so far away, they were so far out of reach.
Speaker BBut here, there was a gentleman right in front of me that had created the results, or it sounded like he did, at least that I wanted to participate in myself.
Speaker BSo, you know, we sat down, I asked him if I could buy him a cup of coffee.
Speaker BWe met at a Panera Bread, and I was trying to learn from him.
Speaker BAnd, you know, I was working on, you know, a couple of, you know, projects myself, and I asked him if he wanted to participate, and he wasn't really interested.
Speaker BWell, you know, a couple of years ago by.
Speaker BAnd I bump into this gentleman again, and we reconnected and we formed this wonderful relationship, and that is what led me to where I am today.
Speaker BThat gentleman that I'm talking about, Dustin Heiner, was the man that was at that gym.
Speaker BAnd he is the reason why this podcast exists.
Speaker BHe's the reason why I have this wonderful opportunity to host this podcast, to connect with you.
Speaker BAnd like I shared earlier, you are one or two powerful relationships away from changing your entire life.
Speaker BAnd Destin was certainly that for me.
Speaker BNow, what's next?
Speaker BWhere do we go from here?
Speaker BWell, I'm really thrilled for you.
Speaker BI'm really excited for you because we have some absolutely phenomenal guests lined up to interview on the show.
Speaker BPeople from all different businesses, all different walks of life, people that have just started their journey of becoming successfully unemployed, or much rather, people that have just recently become successfully unemployed, people that have been successfully unemployed for years, people that help many other people to become successfully unemployed.
Speaker BWe're going to have the opportunity to listen to those people firsthand.
Speaker BAnd I'm super thrilled and I'm excited for you.
Speaker BI want to share with you something that I heard here not too long ago.
Speaker BAnd what was shared with me was that, you know, the day you die, there's going to be a tombstone.
Speaker BAnd what's going to be there is the day you were born and the day that you die.
Speaker BBut in the middle, there's going to be a dash.
Speaker BAnd what was shared with me was that while it's important the day you were born and it's important the day you were die, the day that you die, the most important thing is, what are you going to do with that dash in the middle?
Speaker BAnd when I heard that, it really impacted me in an amazing way, and it caused me to reevaluate what I was doing on a daily basis.
Speaker BWhat I also learned from a gentleman by the name of John C.
Speaker BMaxwell was that what you do daily determines who you become permanently.
Speaker BAnd Mr.
Speaker BJohn C.
Speaker BMaxwell shared another concept with this gravestone.
Speaker BAnd I'm not trying to be morbid, but I just want to bring to the front why we're here right now, why we're listening to this podcast.
Speaker BWhy is it that we want to become successfully unemployed?
Speaker BBecause here, this dash that we have in the middle right here, this is really the realization of the impact on the lives that we will have the opportunity to impact.
Speaker BAnd the question is, what will you do with that dash?
Speaker BNow, aside from that dash, there's going to be some other things here on this gravestone.
Speaker BAnd on this gravestone, presumably, there's going to be a sentence.
Speaker BAnd that sentence again, please forgive me if you can see this video.
Speaker BAnd my spelling is incorrect.
Speaker BThis sentence right here is going to be the culmination of your entire life.
Speaker BHere lies you, a wonderful individual, a person that was built on purpose and character and integrity, and they decided to help everyone they could, whenever they could.
Speaker BThat could be the sentence that you have on your.
Speaker BOn your gravestone, on your tombstone.
Speaker BBut the question I have for you is why can't you write that sentence right now and decide right now, today that you're going to live that sentence out in its entirety?
Speaker BAnd when I heard that statement, it changed everything for me.
Speaker BBecause what it shared with me was that I get to choose how I'm going to be remembered.
Speaker BIf I want to be remembered as someone who cared for people, as someone who wanted to impact lives, as someone who was willing to love their neighbor, someone that was willing to be generous, then I have to live that out on a daily basis.
Speaker BAnd I would encourage each person that can hear the sound of my voice right now, you sitting in your home, you sitting in your car.
Speaker BI would encourage you to take a moment and write out your life sentence and make a decision today to live that out.
Speaker BNow, I want you to know that what you see is what you get.
Speaker BI am as laid back as you can imagine.
Speaker BI am not uptight.
Speaker BI'm a really, really interesting individual.
Speaker BI'm recording this in my home.
Speaker BLike I shared with you at the beginning of this introduction.
Speaker BYou're going to hear about how you can go from being homeless to being a homeowner.
Speaker BAnd that was my story.
Speaker BYou can hear about how you can go from being homeless to a real estate investor.
Speaker BYou can hear how you can become go from being homeless to being a business owner and having multiple business interests.
Speaker BAnd praise the Lord, I am that person.
Speaker BI am a person who is a real estate investor who has multiple business interests.
Speaker BYes, I still have a job.
Speaker BBut I am here to share with you that you can make a choice to become successfully unemployed.
Speaker BYou can make a choice to listen to and hear things from other people that can help and add value, that can change your life forever.
Speaker BYou know, there's another really fantastic book that I had the opportunity to read recently.
Speaker BAnd the name of the book is called U Squared, and it's by Dr.
Speaker BPrice Pritchett.
Speaker BAnd what this book talks about is the concept of a quantum leap.
Speaker BAnd when we're looking at physics, when we're talking about quantum physics, we're talking about a relatively new or a relatively developing concept that we're still learning today.
Speaker BBut the premise behind the book is that where you are right now to the person that you can become is a quantum leap away.
Speaker BAnd I want to share with you a story from the book, and maybe it's a story that you're familiar with.
Speaker BRight at your window, imagine there's a fly that's beating up against the window pane.
Speaker BIt's flying incessantly, and all it's trying to do is to try harder with grit and determination to reach the outside world.
Speaker BUnfortunately, that idea will kill the fly.
Speaker BBecause no matter what that fly does, that fly will never be able to fly through that window pane.
Speaker BHowever, 180 degrees behind that fly, there is a wide open door.
Speaker BAnd that wide open door is that fly's opportunity to be able to see freedom.
Speaker BIf that fly would take a quantum leap away from the window seal instead of trying harder with determination and grit doing more of the same, minute after minute, second after second, then that fly can make 180 degree turn and turn towards what could be success.
Speaker BGetting out of the room, getting out of the house.
Speaker BAnd what that story reminds me of is where I was back when I was homeless.
Speaker BI had made some decisions, and some circumstances that were way beyond my control caused me to be homeless.
Speaker BAnd I had to make a decision Was I going to do more of the same?
Speaker BOr was I going to make an abrupt change, a quantum leap forward in the other direction?
Speaker BAs a result of me making that quantum leap forward, it resulted in something that I could not have even imagined.
Speaker BI was able to meet and marry an amazing wife.
Speaker BI am now married with four children.
Speaker BI now live in a beautiful house.
Speaker BI now have wonderful relationships.
Speaker BSome of my best friends now have success that would blow you away.
Speaker BBut it was all because I decided to make a quantum leap in a different direction.
Speaker BAnd right now, where you sit, where you hear the sound of my voice, right now, you have a choice.
Speaker BDo you want to make a quantum leap forward in your life?
Speaker BDo you want to make a change, something that's going to help you so far beyond what you can even comprehend right now?
Speaker BThen I would challenge you.
Speaker BI would encourage you to listen to this podcast.
Speaker BI would encourage you to listen to the book recommendations.
Speaker BI would encourage you to overwhelm yourself with your dream, with your vision, and then on a daily basis, live that vision out through the culture that you have around you.
Speaker BWhy?
Speaker BBecause culture eats vision alive.
Speaker BIf you have a vision to lose £50, but your culture is one of junk food, your culture is one of ice cream and eating late and making poor decisions in your diet, then guess what?
Speaker BYour culture will eat your vision alive.
Speaker BSo I challenge you to dive in, to find good material, find good books, find good relationships.
Speaker BYou are the sum total of the five people that you hang around.
Speaker BSo I would challenge you to find and create some amazing, phenomenal relationships in the direction of your dreams, in the direction of your vision.
Speaker BThis is your time.
Speaker BI am so thrilled and I am so excited for you because you have made the choice to become successfully unemployed.
Speaker BAnd you have made the choice to allow me to be your host, to lead you through this wonderful and exciting experience.
Speaker BI cannot wait to take you through, step by step, how these successful entrepreneurs and business owners became successfully unemployed.
Speaker BAnd I am so excited to take this journey with you.
Speaker BSo that way you can see from someone that still has a job, that's still employed in corporate America how you too can walk away if you so choose.
Speaker BAnd you, too can be successfully unemployed.
Speaker BMy name is Roger Wesley.
Speaker BI am so thrilled to take this journey with you.
Speaker BDon't you ever forget that.
Speaker BThe time is now.
Speaker BYou can do this.
Speaker BYou're not doing it alone.
Speaker BI'm right here with you.
Speaker BI'm excited for the journey.
