Friends and welcome to Faithfield Woman.
KristenHappy New Year.
KristenCan you believe it is the start of another year?
Kristen2025.
KristenWow.
KristenI just hope that each of us are blessed with just an amazing year full of faith and peace and joy and maybe some new perspectives so that as we walk into the year, we walk into the circumstances that will surely find us this coming year.
KristenWe will have our sights set on the right things.
KristenAnd so that is my hope and my wish for you.
KristenToday is a mini episode, so I'm just coming on to share a few quick ideas with you as we jump start 2025.
KristenWelcome to Faith Fueled Woman, a podcast designed for Christian women eager to deepen their faith and shine God's light in every aspect of their lives.
KristenEach week we'll delve into practical strategies, inspiring stories and biblical wisdom to equip you with the tools you need to navigate life's challenges and grow deeper in your faith.
KristenFrom finding calm in the chaos, forming deep Christian friendships, to everyday ways to connect with God, we'll cover it all.
KristenHi, I'm your host, Kristen.
KristenI'm an encourager, a faith led entrepreneur, a mom and a wife.
KristenLet's be encouraged in our everyday lives as we let our faith guide us, fuel us and fill us with God's incredible peace, wisdom and joy in our lives.
KristenAs I'm reflecting on my past year and as I'm thinking to what I want to have this year be all about, I'm thinking about what are some of the words, what are some of the themes that I want to add more of into my life?
KristenAnd one of those is to make sure that I'm having a deep, rich relationship.
KristenSo how can I strengthen those relationships?
KristenHow can I build or grow those relationships?
KristenHow can I deepen my faith?
KristenHow can I be the best version of myself?
KristenAnd by this I mean optimize my health in simple ways.
KristenHow can I continue to take time, to slow down, to get outside, to garden, to get in God's word and just to be present?
KristenSo these are some of the things I'm thinking about and I was reading, I've mentioned, I'm reading the book A Million Little Miracles by Mark Batterson and I want to read a quote from you from that book because I just thought, wow, this is, this is something to be chewing on or thinking about as I or we step into this year.
KristenHe says few things are more cathartic, more catalytic than worship.
KristenWhy?
KristenBecause that's where we were create.
KristenThat's what we were created to do.
KristenYou can't not worship.
KristenEither you will worship God with a capital G or you will substitute a lesser God.
KristenNot only does worship improve vagal tone, but it also gets us God's wavelength.
KristenIt helps us discern the still small voice of the spirit.
KristenIt activates the gifts of the spirit as well as prophetic imagination.
KristenAnd of course he's talking about some things in this quote that he referenced earlier in his book.
KristenBut the fact that it says if we aren't worshiping God, we are worshiping something, right?
KristenAnd we're of course warned about that in the Bible that we don't want to make things our God.
KristenAnd that can be easy to do and not even realize it.
KristenBut I thought it was so important to remember we are made to worship.
KristenWe can't not worship.
KristenAnd what I wanted to share with you today is when we worship, imagine everything that comes from that one.
KristenIt, we actually experience less stress.
KristenSo it actually is more calming to us.
KristenWe are more connected to God.
KristenIt helps us hear God's whisper or spirit and it taps us into our imagination, into our co creation ability with God.
KristenAnd I think that's pretty impressive.
KristenThe other thing though is to worship doesn't mean that we have to only, you know, hold our hands together or kneel on our knees and pray, right?
KristenWe're talking about worship, not prayer specifically.
KristenSome people define prayer as speaking to God, right, Or asking him for things or whatnot.
KristenOf course, it could also be praying to give him thanks, to tell him what we're grateful for.
KristenBut worship is, it's almost like being in awe, right, of the divine.
KristenIt's being able to be present in the moment and just take notice of everything that is.
KristenAnd it was created and still is being created by God.
KristenAnd so I've talked about this probably a long time ago, but worship is anything we do.
KristenIt can be dancing, it can be singing as we do our chores, it can be just giving a little, a little prayer of thanks.
KristenBut it's anything we do, it's coming together, you know, in communion, it's coming together in fellowship.
KristenBut worship is really just whatever we do to be reminded and to remember God and to give glory to God.
KristenAnd so it doesn't have to be something formal, it can be something informal and hopefully throughout our day.
KristenBecause the more we get used to it, the easier it is to be continually worshiping God.
KristenIn other words, to be continually staying in a connection or a conversation with God.
KristenAnd yes, the conversation might not necessarily be audible the way I'm speaking, but it definitely can be felt.
KristenAnd so in the.
KristenAnd God speaks in so many ways.
KristenIt's absolutely not.
KristenAnd for most of us, it is not through the spoken word, right?
KristenIt's something that speaks to our heart or our spirit.
KristenIt's something that comes to us right in our mind.
KristenSo that's the imagination or an idea.
KristenSome people call it a download.
KristenIt's the small impulses to go help someone or to do something kind for someone.
KristenThere's so many ways God speaks to us.
KristenHe could speak to us through other people, right?
KristenThrough a prophetic word or encouraging word.
KristenHe can speak to us when we're taking time to be silent, when we're getting in nature.
KristenAnd so we want to worship because this is how we connect to God and it's how we also experience the goodness of God.
KristenAnd so when Mark Batterson was talking about how it improves a vagal tone.
KristenWell, the vagal tone is basically the vagal nerve.
KristenIt goes.
KristenIt covers most of your body and goes up through your neck.
KristenBut when we are calmer, when we're not stressed, then we initiate our parasympathetic nervous system, which means the nervous system of rest and relaxing versus our sympathetic, which is the one that is fight or flight.
KristenSo what we don't want to do is stay in this really stressed out, really anxious, fight or flight, high cortisol place.
KristenAnd by worshiping God and also praying, we actually lower our stress, we lower our cortisol, and we shift into the parasympathetic or the rest and relax part of our nervous system.
KristenSo there's benefits not just in all the things I mentioned, but also in just calming us down, feeling more peaceful, feeling less stressed.
KristenAnd so there is huge benefits, huge implications to worshiping Him.
KristenAnd so as we step into this new year, starting today, I just put it out there for all of us.
KristenAre we daily worshiping God?
KristenAre we daily pausing throughout our day to just take a breath and just worshiping Him?
KristenYou know, that can be being all of his creations.
KristenIt can be being in awe of the gift he's given us, right?
KristenIt could be of our children, it could be of our pet, it could be of our spouse, whatever it might be.
KristenI mean, I'm in awe of the colors, right?
KristenWhen I go on walks.
KristenEvery color of the rainbow and more, every shade of green.
KristenTo me, it's just so amazing.
KristenAll the creativity, all the differences, right?
KristenI mean, there's still animals and microorganisms and plants that have not been discovered, and there's millions of them.
KristenAnd so once again, it's really getting curious again.
KristenAnd actually in Mark Batterson's book, I think he talks about it in more than one book and he definitely talks about it in his sermons.
KristenHe talks about the idea of holy curiosity.
KristenAnd I believe it was Albert Einstein that mentioned that.
KristenAnd that's who I believe Mark Patterson references.
KristenBut we want to have a holy curiosity.
KristenIn other words, if we're just always reconnecting that, oh my gosh, like this is so amazing or how can this be, you know, and how does the human body work?
KristenHow does the sun spin?
KristenI'm sorry, the earth spin around the sun.
KristenLike all these things, when we pay attention, when we notice, and when we actually realize just how many miracles, how much is happening without us doing anything, it's quite miraculous.
KristenAnd that allows us to tap into this holy curiosity.
KristenAnd when we do that, another concept that he talks about is holy confidence.
KristenWe can be confident in God because we know everything he's doing and how miraculous it is.
KristenAnd with that, I just want to say to you, I'm wishing you every blessing, peace, prosperity, joy and health this year.
KristenAnd I hope you'll find more moments this coming year to make time for worship.
