>> Ray Fulcher: This is Ray Fulcher, and you're listening to
Speaker:Chasing Birdies.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You guys tuning in here today on Chasing Birdies?
Speaker:Welcome back. It's Thursday. It's a great episode.
Speaker:It's a great weekend coming up, bud. It's a great
Speaker:day. What's up?
Speaker:>> RB: Um, I'm sitting in the Grinch room for a
Speaker:completely good reason. I mean, this last seven
Speaker:days of betting.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, my God. Is we're gonna go there? Out the gate.
Speaker:>> RB: Tragic. Tragic. I mean, you. I'll tell you what.
Speaker:By Sunday, I should have. Whatever I thought or
Speaker:you thought we should just went opposite. Like,
Speaker:have we not learned this yet?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No. You know, no. And. And every Saturday in
Speaker:college football this year, if I look back on. On
Speaker:totals, um, it's been a disaster. There hasn't
Speaker:been a week there.
Speaker:>> RB: There's been one week where we were hot.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It was maybe in August. Okay.
Speaker:>> RB: Like, the.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No black numbers on Saturdays.
Speaker:>> RB: Number one sport this year in gambling was
Speaker:baseball.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Which is like, can baseball just keep continuing
Speaker:throughout the year just so I can get some of this
Speaker:pack?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I'm going to be betting on. On the. The world,
Speaker:whatever. USA versus Canada baseball, just to get
Speaker:some money back.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, look, I did tell you, you know, I was going
Speaker:to roll. Roll with the Broncos last Sunday
Speaker:afternoon against the Kansas City Chiefs. The
Speaker:Chiefs are always a four point favorite. In fact,
Speaker:this weekend they're playing the Colts. And guess
Speaker:what? On Sunday, the Chiefs opened up as a four
Speaker:point favorite. How? Why?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: What?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You know, and sometimes those lines bait you in a
Speaker:little bit, as we all know. But, um. Yeah, you
Speaker:missed the boat on that one. But. But I feel your
Speaker:pain. I do. I feel your pain. I feel it.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, the Pittsburgh Penguins. I take him in.
Speaker:Sweden. 1 nothing with 55 seconds left. I'm like,
Speaker:this is great, dude. I'm gonna finally smack one.
Speaker:Nope. They lose every time. Two. One. But I did
Speaker:take them. I, uh, had a little credit, boys, for
Speaker:Sunday. 45 credit to win. 33. And I won. So I
Speaker:guess I can't say that I didn't win anything.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Did you forget to turn your light on or
Speaker:something? You're just, like, sitting in dark.
Speaker:>> RB: No, it's because I'm sitting a little further
Speaker:away. I got a new office set up that I got to
Speaker:figure out where it's gonna be. The. The right.
Speaker:The right lighting and all that. So, um, I moved
Speaker:the desk, I moved the couch, I moved all this
Speaker:stuff to clean it up a little bit, bud. For this
Speaker:purpose. But, yeah, um, very. Like I said, I was
Speaker:getting grinchy with it today. I didn't want to
Speaker:even talk to you today.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I'm so miserable. I understand. Here we are. The
Speaker:show must go on.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: The show must go on, man.
Speaker:I was just going to say there was some exciting
Speaker:golf topics that happened this past weekend, uh,
Speaker:especially with the DP tour, where McRoy claimed
Speaker:the Dubai title again, the Race to Dubai title.
Speaker:But he lost. Fitzpatrick won the tournament.
Speaker:McElroy. I don't know. I was watching some of the
Speaker:highlights. The Eagle, the last hole to get it to
Speaker:playoff, and Matty Fitz with the braces and all,
Speaker:just took it down. Dude, a bet Nardi guy right
Speaker:there.
Speaker:>> RB: The only thing that makes Matty Fitz semi cool is
Speaker:the bet Nardi, so.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, that's true. You know, Justin Thomas put out
Speaker:that statement last week where you know, he's
Speaker:going to miss some stuff because of his back.
Speaker:Tiger woods undergoes another God knows what the
Speaker:hell it was on a disc. I mean, I don't understand
Speaker:why we have to disclose that, because no one's
Speaker:really banking on him playing anyways, so why are
Speaker:we putting these statements out?
Speaker:>> RB: Like, did you see the talk about Tiger with the
Speaker:Champions Tour? They were really concerned that
Speaker:the Champions Tour might get more media coverage
Speaker:than the PGA Tour if he plays in that. So that'll
Speaker:be interesting. Um, I mean, which I don't doubt
Speaker:that it will be really cool to see Tiger in the
Speaker:Champions Tour. Him and John Daly can be CART
Speaker:partners rolling around in the same cart.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Look, anytime Tiger's going to tee it up,
Speaker:obviously, I just want to tune in and watch it.
Speaker:But, um, at this point in the game, man, like, you
Speaker:know, I'm not saying he's done. He's not done. But
Speaker:I don't think we need updates every time that, you
Speaker:know, he cuts.
Speaker:>> RB: His toenails and there's no relevancy in golf
Speaker:right now. That's the problem.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, apparently YouTube golfers and all this
Speaker:bullshit that's happening with this stuff is
Speaker:picking up steam.
Speaker:>> RB: There's people going on pace for anecdotal.
Speaker:Apparently cheated. Um, I don't know on who they.
Speaker:They said that she was surprising pushing down the
Speaker:front of the. The grass. Meanwhile, she told the
Speaker:one guy that he. You must never play competitive
Speaker:golf. He turned to his partner and said, I've
Speaker:played in five US Amateurs.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: So, um, and then the other guy with the
Speaker:rangefinder, little suspicious dude. I mean, I did
Speaker:see a little thumb movement when he got to the
Speaker:cart. Did he flicked off? Did he flick the. The
Speaker:slope off when he got back to the cart. And Dave
Speaker:Portman was hilarious with the. With it. Ryan
Speaker:Whitney was hilarious with it. Um, so it was fun.
Speaker:And then, of course, what a great outcome with
Speaker:Beef. I mean, the guy tragically passed away, but
Speaker:he ended up winning. And I think he had said
Speaker:whenever, if he were to win it, he would donate
Speaker:the money and pay his parents house off. Um, so
Speaker:hopefully he got to do that before he passed away.
Speaker:It was. It was cool to watch it. God bless him and
Speaker:how much everybody likes him, too. It's. That's
Speaker:the other thing. And how much he respects the game
Speaker:of golf and everybody. So, um, well, yes, rest in
Speaker:peace to Beef. And. And again, I hope he got to do
Speaker:what he wanted to do with those funds.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I do love the barstool people, man.
Speaker:>> RB: They.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: They're so funny.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, so, uh, it's like, such ingenuity, and it's
Speaker:like, you know, it's great. It's hilarious. I feel
Speaker:bad for, uh. So when you. When this happened, I
Speaker:was thinking Beef Johnson boys. I was thinking
Speaker:Will Davidson, caddy for the guy at the U.S.
Speaker:mickelson and Shinnecock, and I'm thinking that.
Speaker:But no, we got another beef. We got a character on
Speaker:the online world, Beef M. Naturally, you look at
Speaker:the guy, he's a walking heart attack to begin
Speaker:with. No offense, but, um, certainly it's tragic
Speaker:nonetheless, because of his passion love for the
Speaker:game of golf, and that's where we connect. So I
Speaker:do. God, uh, bless him and the family right now
Speaker:going through that. That's terrible. It's
Speaker:absolutely tragic.
Speaker:>> RB: You know what else is sad? Um, you know, Kai Trump
Speaker:just played at Pelican Golf Club, which we've been
Speaker:fortunate enough to play a few times. And. And,
Speaker:you know, I have a trophy laying around here
Speaker:somewhere, um, of the clubhouse. But, you know,
Speaker:our friend, our buddy Brandon sent us a photo of
Speaker:Kai playing, which she played pretty good. I think
Speaker:she shot like, 83.78, which people were like, 83,
Speaker:78. It's her first LPGA Tour event. She's 18 years
Speaker:old. Like, give the girl a break. Um, her
Speaker:grandfather is Donald Trump. Her mom's boyfriend's
Speaker:Tiger Woods. Little bit of pressure here. A little
Speaker:bit. It was sad to see the girl playing golf
Speaker:inside the ropes, and there's security everywhere,
Speaker:and it's like, this girl's 18 years old. This is
Speaker:her life. I get it. They chose to be in this
Speaker:position, but at the same time, it's like she
Speaker:doesn't have a vest on. So what's the point of
Speaker:these guys? You know what I mean? Like, if
Speaker:somebody, uh. I don't know, I think it's scary
Speaker:that that's where our world has come to. This 18
Speaker:year old girl can't be an 18 year old. Uh, she's
Speaker:got security following her with vests on and
Speaker:armed, um, facing outwards, um, looking for
Speaker:people. A little bit of wild in my mind, so.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No, it is. Yeah, dude, it's, it's wild, man. It's
Speaker:just the way the world is right now. And frankly,
Speaker:I don't know what the hell is that guy gonna do,
Speaker:to be honest? I mean, I don't know. But, you know,
Speaker:golf's a place where you should not have to worry
Speaker:about that.
Speaker:>> RB: That's my, that's my. It's. It should be like a.
Speaker:Yeah, a safe haven. Yeah. Um, it was good seeing
Speaker:you in Nashville.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, yeah, it was great.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, we, we moseyed out to see our buddy at, at
Speaker:Troubadour, one of our buddies. I'll tell you
Speaker:what, dude, the, the, the clubhouse, I mean, I
Speaker:mean, it might be the nicest clubhouse I've ever
Speaker:seen. 100 million dollar renovation out there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: 100 million dollar project. Renault the project.
Speaker:>> RB: You're correct. Sorry. Uh, the pool, I mean, that
Speaker:fireplace, dude, you stand 100ft away, you still
Speaker:feel the heat.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: The gym, amazing. I mean, just everything they've,
Speaker:they've done everything the, the speakeasy, uh, to
Speaker:where even if you, you pass out and you fall
Speaker:forward, there's a headrest that you can smack
Speaker:your head off of or rest your head on.
Speaker:Unfortunately for you, um, it's a little.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Taller, but yeah, I don't quite reach it. If I, if
Speaker:I fell forward, I'm hitting the, I'm hitting the
Speaker:head of the, the urinal. But no, it was great
Speaker:getting down there, checking things out. You know,
Speaker:uh, like Chandler Parsons said on the show a
Speaker:couple months ago what the discovery properties
Speaker:are doing with Golf. Honestly, it's like I'm
Speaker:really buying into that movement, you know, no pun
Speaker:intended. In other words, I think that that's the
Speaker:way to go, man. It's like you want to get out
Speaker:there with your boys, you want to have good times,
Speaker:you want to have good, uh, you know, aesthetics,
Speaker:you want to have good vibes.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And with, with Troubadour, it's just, it's
Speaker:remarkable. Dude, it was fun. It was fun catching
Speaker:up with you down there a little bit.
Speaker:>> RB: And then, um, and we moved over to Old Hick.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Then we moseyed up to old hick. Didn't take the
Speaker:clubs.
Speaker:>> RB: We. We did not. But we saw, you know, uh, Taminsky
Speaker:there. We saw Casey. Casey was, um, holding the
Speaker:puppy the size of a guinea pig.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, cute as could be. And then he was so nice to
Speaker:take us over to Boulevard Golf, which him and Cole
Speaker:Taylor are involved in. And I'll tell you what, I
Speaker:love the idea. I love it. It's incredible. It's
Speaker:like a VIP bay for each simulator. Uh, he has
Speaker:everything so thought out. He's so excited. Um, so
Speaker:I wish him nothing but the best. Maybe we have a
Speaker:Chasing Birdies. Two men in the winner there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: There we go.
Speaker:All right. Now you talking. Yeah, it was great. It
Speaker:was great. Kind of having the boys around a little
Speaker:bit when we were down there seeing everyone. And
Speaker:naturally, our guest today, Ray Fulcher, long
Speaker:overdue. I mean, we've known Ray now for several
Speaker:years, and, uh, hell, we've gone on golf trips and
Speaker:it kind of dawned on us. But we. We need to get
Speaker:Ray on the podcast. What are we doing?
Speaker:>> RB: I couldn't believe we never interviewed him.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um, that's what you said. You're like, yeah, we
Speaker:did. No, we never did. So Ray has been one of the
Speaker:most sought after songwriters in Nashville. I
Speaker:mean, the guy writes hits. I mean, that week we're
Speaker:just bullshitting on the side. And he's like, I
Speaker:wrote six this week. You know, and you're like,
Speaker:wow, that.
Speaker:>> RB: Was Monday to Wednesday, correct?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Because he had a dust. So he. He was headed
Speaker:down to wherever he was headed to.
Speaker:>> RB: But Mississippi State, Georgia game.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's right. That's right. So, you know, uh, I
Speaker:think it's fair that we, uh, you and I love. I
Speaker:love when we can just get on these tangents and
Speaker:talk some topics. But, um, let's get that started.
Speaker:Yeah. Here we go.
Speaker:All right, we are back here on Chase and Birdies,
Speaker:coming from Old Hick in Nashville, Tennessee.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: We are with one of country music's most sought
Speaker:after songwriters in the industry and a great
Speaker:friend of the podcast. Long time coming, Ray
Speaker:Fulcher, here on Chasing Birdies. My guy Ray, it's
Speaker:good seeing you in person.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: What's up, Bash? What's up, Pepe?
Speaker:>> RB: What's up?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: There it is.
Speaker:>> RB: There it is.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Hey, wait.
Speaker:>> RB: He loves the way that you say it. PayPal.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, it's a thing. I didn't know it was a thing.
Speaker:Oh, I'm glad I did it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: As of recently, too, I have a video that we just
Speaker:put out. Uh, well, for the last drop. Because we
Speaker:mentioned that we were doing you on the next
Speaker:episode, and Pep said, uh, if you care to tell
Speaker:everyone how he says my last name. And I said,
Speaker:pepe.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Pepe.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: What's up? Pay. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yes. You gotta go full sin. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, man. Uh, what's going on, boys? It's good to
Speaker:be back.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I'm, um, happy to see y'. All. We're, uh, here at
Speaker:Old Hickory, which is cool because it's at my home
Speaker:course and, you know, we spend a lot of time
Speaker:together on golf courses, so it's only fitting
Speaker:that we're at a golf course doing it.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, well, I mean, like, I told him, like, when
Speaker:we first actually met.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Mhm.
Speaker:>> RB: And it wasn't. It was just I was with Thomas
Speaker:Archer and I met you, and it was at Troubadour.
Speaker:But we've. You and I. You've played golf with
Speaker:Bash, but you and I have, like.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, you guys.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Valley Troubadour.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, we've done some cool shit.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: We didn't know what door we were unlocking that
Speaker:day. Yeah. You know, life comes at you fast. The
Speaker:next thing you know, we're. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Wait, when you talk about not knowing what door
Speaker:you were unlocking, was that at Troubadour or was
Speaker:that at Sage Valley?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Well, like with. We didn't know.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, Sage didn't even know we were coming, to be
Speaker:fair.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: So, uh, yeah, you need to have that. Have that
Speaker:from time to time.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, I took that wrong. I thought you guys were
Speaker:like, you were drunk and you couldn't figure it
Speaker:out. What?
Speaker:>> RB: No.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Like a door of life. We didn't know that the
Speaker:friendship we were unlocking that day.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, we, um. Well, the first time I ever met him
Speaker:was at True, and I met him on the range. And. And
Speaker:again, I never drank tequila because I'm just
Speaker:like, you know, you have it in college and it was
Speaker:shitty and.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. Bad headache.
Speaker:>> RB: I was so hammered that day, I was drinking because
Speaker:every three holes, these guys, they don't stop.
Speaker:Um, it was Devin, Dawson, Mitchell, you, Thomas
Speaker:and myself. And it's like every three holes,
Speaker:let's. Well, did. I was absolutely buckled.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Well, they had those. It's like Troubadours. Like,
Speaker:it feels like it's sponsored by tequila.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And it feels like it's the center of the tequila
Speaker:universe. Because every hole you're at, Thomas is
Speaker:like, well, there's a. There's a cooler there with
Speaker:tequila in it. We're like, well, there was the
Speaker:last hole too. He's Like. Yeah, I know, but this
Speaker:one, too.
Speaker:>> RB: And he's like, this one's better, though.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: This is better.
Speaker:>> RB: Ah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean. And that's the day you shot 65.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It played out of his mind.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. 65. And. And Mitchell, at one point, I think
Speaker:I was like, only two under. And Mitchell was like,
Speaker:man, I never played with him when he's under par.
Speaker:And I'm like, baby sleeping. Dude, you don't ever
Speaker:talk about what people are on the golf.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I know. We doing that.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. So we have 10. We had a hooting time.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You're a little low on the fuel right now.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: The old.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: The orange cider.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. This is a, uh. This is the first blue moon
Speaker:I've had in a long time. But it's just something
Speaker:felt right about it tonight.
Speaker:>> RB: That's the official drink of Summer Ripple.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: My wife. And we're gonna transition now into, uh.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, I gotta tell you, I never. I'm not a fan of
Speaker:dark beers.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. And I was just about to say we got a
Speaker:transition into dark beers.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I don't know if I'm drinking. If I'm drinking
Speaker:coffee. It's great. Flavor's great. I love it. But
Speaker:I'm just simply stating the fact that, like, this
Speaker:is not typical of me.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Everybody out there. Bash is getting through this.
Speaker:Uh, and I'll. I'll back us up for 30 minutes ago.
Speaker:He. We've all been there. He ordered one thing,
Speaker:thinking it was going to come out looking a
Speaker:certain way.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It didn't come out looking that way, but my man's
Speaker:a champ. Yeah, he's getting through it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, dude, I'm here for it. Yeah, I. I just love
Speaker:being here. Yeah, this is a great spot.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It's a great spot, man. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And, you know, we. We, uh. Yeah, we. We've been
Speaker:fortunate enough to have to experience what Old
Speaker:Hickory is about.
Speaker:>> RB: We played the Blue Otter last year with him.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That's right.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yep. Oh, is it. Have you all just done it one
Speaker:year?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Is it just one year?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Jesse broke our hearts, but it's all good.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Jesse got a shout out, but not in the way he
Speaker:wanted, probably.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's all right.
Speaker:>> RB: Jess, what about you?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Do you remember the guy that we played with? He
Speaker:was a veterinarian, and he went. He's the Iowa
Speaker:State guy.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Dr. Phil. That's what we call him. Dr. Phil.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, Dr. Phil.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Dude, he is. Dr. Phil is like, to me, shout out
Speaker:Dr. Phil. One of our buddies from back home. He is
Speaker:like a, um, walking sitcom.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: He's like a sitcom character in real life. And I
Speaker:love him so much.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I thought about him. About a month ago, my pup cut
Speaker:his paw pad. And I don't have like, you know, a
Speaker:buddy that I just texted.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You don't have a Dr. Phil to be like, hey, come
Speaker:meet us on the.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's the only vet that I know that I could be
Speaker:like, hey, man, what should I do here? You know,
Speaker:instead of me actually taking the dog to the vet,
Speaker:which I ended up doing, obviously. But, uh.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: How's the paw pad?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Healed.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Healed okay.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It was a trying. The pup is very active. He's one.
Speaker:He does not like to sit still.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Mhm.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So for about a week I had him with that cone. He.
Speaker:And it was. It was tough, man.
Speaker:Yeah, it was tough. But he's. He's great. So.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Good.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um. Yeah, Dr. Phil.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Shout out, doc.
Speaker:>> RB: So, Ray Fulcher from Georgia.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. What part outside of Augusta?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Little.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Little town called Harlem. Um, probably 20 miles
Speaker:from like, not Harlem, New York. Yeah. Spelled the
Speaker:same. Spelled the same. But you know, a lot that
Speaker:the buildings are much shorter and, uh, the
Speaker:traffic's way better. So.
Speaker:>> RB: So about. I would say, um, based on when you told
Speaker:me the story, I would say about 11 years ago, you
Speaker:made the transition to Nashville.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And, um, I think, you know, I don't want to put
Speaker:words in your mouth, but it was a rainy night, you
Speaker:were driving your U Haul and you ran into another
Speaker:guy.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. So, um, I was driving in Asheville, made the
Speaker:decision to move, like by myself. Didn't really
Speaker:know anybody. Scariest thing I ever did. Stopped
Speaker:in Monteagle, Tennessee to get gas, and there was
Speaker:another guy with a truck and trailer. And, uh, I
Speaker:was like, well, if you're gonna do this, you can't
Speaker:be afraid of asking stuff now, right? It's like we
Speaker:got to go full sin. And so I was like, might as
Speaker:well start here. So I was like, I wonder he might
Speaker:be moving in Nashville. So I go and ask the guy.
Speaker:Lo and behold, he is. We exchanged numbers. Three
Speaker:days later is my birthday. So who am I going to
Speaker:call? The guy I just met at the gas station?
Speaker:Because he's the only person I know.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, right.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: So I call him and I'm like, hey, it's my birthday.
Speaker:I know. We just met at a gas station. You want to
Speaker:hang out? And he's like, yeah, let's go to Buffalo
Speaker:Wild Wings. So that's what we did. So we're
Speaker:sitting there and I think we've all had the phone
Speaker:call where either you forgot something or you
Speaker:forgot what day something is. And somebody calls
Speaker:you and you're like, oh, my gosh. It hits you
Speaker:right in the moment. You're like, oh, Lord.
Speaker:Anyway, he did that, and he stepped away. He's
Speaker:like, hey, man, I got to go. I forgot. You know, I
Speaker:told a buddy to come stay on my couch. He's moving
Speaker:in September, but he's here to record some songs.
Speaker:Need somewhere to stay? I gotta go back there. Do
Speaker:you want to come hang out? And I go, oh, yeah. I
Speaker:don't know anybody else, so I'll come hang out
Speaker:with y'.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: All.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: We get there. The guy who stayed on his couch was
Speaker:a guy at the time who no one knew his name. At
Speaker:least I didn't. Maybe some users of vine, if
Speaker:you're early, early fans. Yeah, I remember vine
Speaker:knew. Knew his name, but he goes. I was like, hey,
Speaker:I'm Ray F. Like, what's up? I'm Luke combs. And in
Speaker:2014, I'm like, just a guy named Luke Combs. And,
Speaker:uh, that's the night we met. My third day in
Speaker:Nashville. And, uh, our first thing that we kind
Speaker:of hit it off was Eric Church. You know, um,
Speaker:you're.
Speaker:>> RB: You. You're both of your loves for Eric Church.
Speaker:Yes. And.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And I mean that in a. Like, you looked up to him.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Heck, yeah, man. He was like our. I mean, my
Speaker:biggest inspiration. I mean, really, I love
Speaker:country music growing up, but the only reason that
Speaker:I started wanting to do this was seeing him in
Speaker:concert for the first time in 2006 or seven.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um, was that at Appalachian State?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: No, that was in Athens. He came and played. Oh, at
Speaker:a place in Athens. Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: But there's only one university we talk about on
Speaker:this podcast with Ray Fulture and University of
Speaker:Georgia. Yeah, well, so. But your relationship.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: But that wasn't a bad assumption because both him
Speaker:and Luke went to. Yeah, you know, I'm gonna stick
Speaker:up for my boy. Come on. We're doing bumps right
Speaker:here. We're doing fist bumps. So.
Speaker:>> RB: So you guys, did you hit it off? Like, was it one
Speaker:of those things that you hit off, or.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, so we kind of did. Right? And it was because
Speaker:of, you know, we just. When you meet. Sometimes
Speaker:you meet people and you go, like, man, we're kind
Speaker:of just naturally cut from the same cloth. It was
Speaker:easy to talk. And then we, you know, we're talking
Speaker:about. We realized we love the same music. We kind
Speaker:of dug the same songs. So when he moved that
Speaker:September, we just started kind of hanging out as
Speaker:friends. Like, he would invite me over to.
Speaker:>> RB: Play in that time. He's, um. He's. He's not who
Speaker:he.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: No, no. This is September 2014.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But what about the guy that you met at the gas
Speaker:station?
Speaker:>> RB: What's he doing?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, he's still doing it. If you've heard of John
Speaker:Langston out there. Yeah, um, I was just saw John
Speaker:last week, so he, you know, he went on to have a
Speaker:good touring career. He's still touring music and
Speaker:stuff.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, I gotcha.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Um, but we, uh. So Luke used to call. Like when he
Speaker:moved to town. We didn't. His first call was not
Speaker:like, hey, let's write songs. It was, hey, I
Speaker:don't. I don't know anybody else either. Let's,
Speaker:you know, come hang out. He had a, uh, apartment
Speaker:over in Hermitage at the time. So I would go over
Speaker:there. And Luke loved. Luke loved Madden. Like
Speaker:early on, Xbox, Madden. But what he loved more
Speaker:than Madden was just beating the hell out of me in
Speaker:Madden. And so he basically, like, would just call
Speaker:me up, be like, you want to play mad? And I'm
Speaker:like, sure, that means I'm getting my brains beat
Speaker:in, but yeah, I'll come play mad. And so I would
Speaker:go and hang out. And then from there, you know, we
Speaker:just continued to build rapport, become friends.
Speaker:And he was like, we kind of. I remember playing
Speaker:Madden one night and we're kind of talking about
Speaker:songs and stuff, and we had this song idea and
Speaker:called our buddy who. Who we had recently met,
Speaker:named James McNair. And that was our first. Yeah,
Speaker:James McNair.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Friend of the show.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, he's been, um.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, we, uh. So we were like, hey, let's write
Speaker:this song idea together. That was the first song
Speaker:that I had. I wrote with Luke. It's called Beer
Speaker:Can. It was on his very first album. Um. Yeah, one
Speaker:of the. One of the album album tracks on that
Speaker:first one. And so from there it just was like. It
Speaker:just felt so natural. And we just continue to do
Speaker:it to this day and, um, still are really tight.
Speaker:Great friends, but got started kind of just by
Speaker:chance, man.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Dude, it's just. That's just the way it's so crazy
Speaker:this works.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's.
Speaker:>> RB: It's.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It's magic, right? It's like you can't.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And I think here's why that's irrelevant. Because
Speaker:when you, When. When people research Ray Folger,
Speaker:your link to your hits is Luke Homes, right?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So it's not only a Testament to your ability to
Speaker:write. Because obviously for a guy like him
Speaker:putting his trust in certain things with you, uh,
Speaker:it. It not validates, but it just shows your
Speaker:ability to. To do what you do at the top level.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Right.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Which is chase birdies.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Chasing birdies, baby. I'm always chasing. I don't
Speaker:catch them always. But.
Speaker:>> RB: And that's, that's the same thing. You look at
Speaker:Luke Combs.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Mhm.
Speaker:>> RB: Ray Fulcher. You look at, uh, Morgan Wallen, who's
Speaker:his guy. Everybody has a guy that they're like.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Or a group. It's a group. It's kind of like a
Speaker:three or.
Speaker:>> RB: Four guys that they trust and they know that like
Speaker:they're going to get it done. And that's.
Speaker:And that's speaks to your relationship. Right. And
Speaker:it's like, I feel like if Ryan has a problem, I.
Speaker:I'm willing to gamble one or two people that he's
Speaker:calling.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And that's kind of the same thing.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: That like.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. I mean, you, you build trust. I think it all
Speaker:has to do with like, trust over time. Right. And
Speaker:like, that comes from. It comes from relationship,
Speaker:comes from your depth of friendship. But it also.
Speaker:That trust comes in like, in the room even. Right.
Speaker:The writing room. Now we're getting in the weeds
Speaker:of like, writing. But it's like, I'm gonna trust
Speaker:this guy to. And it works vice versa for like,
Speaker:we're speaking to me and Luke right now. But
Speaker:there's. There's more than just him that I feel
Speaker:this way about. Yeah. Um, but it's like you trust
Speaker:this person too when. If the line's not right or
Speaker:if the song's not quite there, I trust him to not
Speaker:stop till it's there. Right. And we both kind of
Speaker:like when we can look at each other and be like,
Speaker:dude, that's it. That's it. Right. It's like, uh,
Speaker:you have that trust in that other person to go
Speaker:like it just is. And it has to do with instinct.
Speaker:It has to do with like, the way you're wired. It
Speaker:has to do with all this stuff. And that's why it's
Speaker:like, it's certain people.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yep.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It's not everybody. Because we all. Everybody's
Speaker:version of what's right may be different, but when
Speaker:you can find that group of people that feel the
Speaker:same way about and have the same standard of what
Speaker:a song should be, there can be magic that happens.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, in, in, you know, Thomas Archer, mutual
Speaker:friend, um, told us a story about when he was
Speaker:writing Keith Whitley.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And they gave it to Wallen. And Wallen basically
Speaker:was like. He's like, he could have kept it and
Speaker:just changed himself and been a writer on.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Uh. Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Instead he said, I know you guys can get it done.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yep.
Speaker:>> RB: Just fix it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. You trust him.
Speaker:>> RB: And that's back to that trust, right? Because it's
Speaker:like, all of a sudden, now Wallen, who has more
Speaker:money or Luke has more money than everybody
Speaker:combined, is saying, listen, I want you to do
Speaker:this. I don't want to dip into this pot at all.
Speaker:And that's. Again, that's trust, and that's trust.
Speaker:And that's back to the trusting thing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But it's not. But it's also, too. It's t. But it's
Speaker:talent. I mean, Ray obviously has the ability to
Speaker:deliver.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. I mean, it's. You know what I think, too?
Speaker:It's like. It's. So find the people that sort of
Speaker:compliment you, right? And it's like. And. And
Speaker:sometimes it's. You can't. It's this, like,
Speaker:unspoken thing where it's like, you can't all. You
Speaker:can't just pull that out of thin air. It's like,
Speaker:you gotta. I was just talking to someone this week
Speaker:about. They're. They're new to town, and they were
Speaker:asking me, like, you know, what's some advice or
Speaker:whatever you can give? And I told them, I'm still
Speaker:learning every day.
Speaker:>> RB: If you're not, you're not getting better, right?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I'm still. And I'm trying to learn every single
Speaker:day. But one thing I do know is I found out early
Speaker:on, um, and actually, Cole. Shout out to Cole
Speaker:Taylor. He was the first one to kind of tell me
Speaker:this because he had been in town about a year
Speaker:before me. He's like, you gotta, like, find your,
Speaker:like, crew and find your people or whatever. And
Speaker:I'm like, what. How do you. How do you do that?
Speaker:And I realized over time, that naturally happens,
Speaker:right? You. You do your best, you try, you work
Speaker:really hard, and then, like, you kind of naturally
Speaker:gravitate and find your people that, um. I don't
Speaker:mean you're not friends with a ton of people, but
Speaker:just kind of like your core group of, like,
Speaker:songwriters and stuff that sort of get each other.
Speaker:Um, and that happens over time, naturally. So.
Speaker:>> RB: And two things. There's one thing that.
Speaker:And I didn't come up with this. I heard this on
Speaker:some podcast, and I've been using it with my son
Speaker:with schoolwork, is there's two people in this
Speaker:world. You're either gonna get better at something
Speaker:in the day or you're gonna get worse at something.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: You're never gonna stay the same.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Never.
Speaker:>> RB: Which one do you want to do? And that's what I
Speaker:keep, like, beating into my son's head is, which
Speaker:one do you want to do? Do you want to do your
Speaker:words and get better at them?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Or do you want to just not do them and you're
Speaker:gonna fall by the wayside?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, that's very true, man.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, and I. I find that, like, that hits to him
Speaker:because, you know, my son, he likes nice things.
Speaker:And I'm like, well, how do you get those nice
Speaker:things?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, so, dad.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, just dad.
Speaker:>> RB: Just my dad will do it. It's fine. Um, can you get
Speaker:me this?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And you're like, yeah, buddy.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, sure. But I think that that's the thing.
Speaker:That too. And the other side of it, I think that
Speaker:this industry, as Ryan and I have started this
Speaker:podcast, we've gotten deeper with people. It's a
Speaker:very tight knit industry. Yes. You have your
Speaker:little group of people that, yeah, they're friends
Speaker:with these four. They're really close.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Right.
Speaker:>> RB: But they're all friends.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, my gosh. Yeah, it's like, it is some, um. It's
Speaker:a. Another way to say it, um, like a beautiful.
Speaker:It's like the community in this town. And like on
Speaker:Music Row, it's like, again, you have, early on,
Speaker:you find those, like you said, five to ten people
Speaker:that you're, like super close with. You write a
Speaker:ton, but then you expand from that. And now it's
Speaker:like your crew is so big, and it's like, it is a
Speaker:community of like, I got your back, you got mine.
Speaker:Because we. We all go to Music Row every day and
Speaker:we do something. We try to do something really
Speaker:hard, which is to make something great up out of
Speaker:thin air. And there's that mutual respect that is
Speaker:there, where it's like, we're kind of all. We're
Speaker:in this thing together, and it's like we're trying
Speaker:to do this. We're trying to push this boulder up a
Speaker:hill.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Together. So I'm, you know, I'm super pumped when
Speaker:this. When a great thing happens for you, you're
Speaker:super pumped when it happens for me. And it's like
Speaker:creates this synergy, you know?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, look, we're talking about arguably the
Speaker:number one genre in music today.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Right now.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Today. Yeah, right now. And here's the deal, dude.
Speaker:Well, let me just say this out loud to. To our
Speaker:listeners I mean, we've had multiple songwriters
Speaker:on this podcast, probably more than any. Maybe
Speaker:hockey, but maybe. Uh, but I am never. It never
Speaker:really kind of. It always amazes me at what you
Speaker:all do, each and every single one of you. It's so
Speaker:interesting, the fact that. That this is a
Speaker:business. Yeah, it's a business.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And I'm so interested in it. And maybe it's
Speaker:because of some musical background in my mind.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: All right.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But I don't. I don't care. I want to hear, like, I
Speaker:want to hear the stories. Yeah. That you have. I
Speaker:want to hear about your journey and you're
Speaker:reaching to the top and how you go about your
Speaker:craft, you know, where you draw your inspiration.
Speaker:It.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It never gets old. Never gets old.
Speaker:>> RB: And everyone. And that's the thing. Everyone has a
Speaker:story. George Burge.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Mitchell, songwriters. Everyone has a story in
Speaker:country music that is cool and it's different.
Speaker:There's nobody. There's no two stories in country
Speaker:music. You could write a freaking song about that
Speaker:alone. Is. Is that.
Speaker:But let me ask you, the first day. I mean, uh,
Speaker:let's get the joke out of the way. Everybody calls
Speaker:you Payday Rey for a reason. Right. So your first
Speaker:number one. Mhm. How did you find out? What was
Speaker:your reaction? What went through Ray Fulture's
Speaker:mind when you. You got a number one?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: So I'll tell you what. I. I was on tour with Luke
Speaker:Combs, um, his first sort of headline, uh, tour
Speaker:after he had a record deal, Hurricane, it already
Speaker:went number one. So he's on his first headline
Speaker:tour and I'm on. I'm this supporting. That I did
Speaker:not write Hurricane. Thomas Archer did, though.
Speaker:The, uh, aforementioned Thomas Archer.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, we'll give him credit on that one.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. If we have to. Right. Um, we were in
Speaker:Illinois playing, and I knew that the Psalm was
Speaker:close, but then when Luke gets up on stage, he
Speaker:gets later, towards later, it was set. And he's
Speaker:like, if I could get, you know, Ray Fulture back
Speaker:up here. And I'm like, what's going on? And I get
Speaker:up there and he's like, hey, we got something cool
Speaker:to announce. Uh, just check. Just. I just. Just
Speaker:checked my phone and actually this, uh, song is as
Speaker:of like 30 minutes ago, is the number one song in
Speaker:the country. So if y' all will. Me and Ray are
Speaker:gonna. We wrote it together. We're gonna sing it.
Speaker:Y' all sing it. When it rains, it pours. And so I
Speaker:was with him when on tour together. We sang it
Speaker:together the night it went number one.
Speaker:>> RB: So I think that. That. So cool. So many volumes
Speaker:about the person, and I've never met him, but this
Speaker:speaks so much about the person that Luke is that
Speaker:he wants you to be a part of it, because he could
Speaker:have easily been like, okay, uh, I'm gonna
Speaker:announce this.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: No, man, he's such a he. Speaking of community,
Speaker:he's just. He's that guy, man. He's that guy.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's. This is love. So. Okay. Sunday morning man
Speaker:she woke up fighting mad yeah. All right.
Speaker:>> RB: That's.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's the opening line to that song.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Just you.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Was. Was there any other variation to that opening
Speaker:line? Sunday morning man she woke up fighting mad
Speaker:Man.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: There was no variation of that line. But I'll tell
Speaker:you, to get to that line, we originally had that
Speaker:idea, and we started it that morning as, like, a
Speaker:sad song. Like, literally talking about the rain.
Speaker:Like, it. When it rains, it pours and I pour
Speaker:whiskey kind of thing. It is very, like, rip your
Speaker:heart out. And we were like. We tried to start it,
Speaker:and we were so bored. We were like, is there any
Speaker:way to kind of flip this thing on its head and
Speaker:make it that saying a positive thing? It was
Speaker:myself, Luke Combs, Jordan Walker. And, uh, we're
Speaker:sitting there, you know, 20, 30 minutes, trying to
Speaker:figure out how. And Luke picks up a guitar. He's
Speaker:just kind of strumming. And the next thing that
Speaker:comes out is the first line you hear to this day.
Speaker:Sunday morning, man she woke up fighting mad. And
Speaker:that was the first thing he said, and it stuck,
Speaker:and we just went from there. Once we kind of
Speaker:switched gears from it being a sad song to a happy
Speaker:song.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So you built around that?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Built around it, yeah. And just created this.
Speaker:Like, I just remember us going, what if we created
Speaker:the story where instead of it being a bad thing,
Speaker:like, we always talk about, well, this happened.
Speaker:So what, man? When it rains, it pours. What if
Speaker:it's like, this one thing happened and the next
Speaker:three weeks are just, like, the best time of his
Speaker:life? What if we did that and then we just created
Speaker:this story?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's fine. It's so good.
Speaker:>> RB: It's so cool.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Engulf's in it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Golf's in it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Like the part five. Or.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Or, uh, the, uh.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Which part is it?
Speaker:>> RB: Part five?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: No, that's in Love it on you. This is the three.
Speaker:What you wrote, Buddies. Uh, I did write that. Uh,
Speaker:this is the five. So the second course, um, spent
Speaker:five bucks at the Moose Club Raffle for a useful
Speaker:wheel and three free passes to take me and two of
Speaker:my buddies to play around a golf. So I get asked
Speaker:about that all the time. Why is it only three
Speaker:buddies playing golf? Like, oh, why not a
Speaker:foursome? Why don't they give you a foursome? I
Speaker:go, well, we did this thing that we worked so hard
Speaker:on that day, thinking that everyone would pick up
Speaker:on it. And apparently because of how many times
Speaker:I've been asked about it, no one picked up on it.
Speaker:But if you notice, we go, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Five
Speaker:bucks at the Moose Club raffle for use. Four
Speaker:wheeler and three free passes for me and two of my
Speaker:buddies to play a round of golf. So we went 5, 4,
Speaker:3, 2, 1. And literally no one got it, and it
Speaker:didn't matter, but no one got it.
Speaker:>> RB: Five, four, three, two, one.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Five, four, three, 2. Oh, that's what no one
Speaker:got. Five, four, three, Two, one.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: They didn't realize that in the lyrics.
Speaker:>> RB: We built that in.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Built five, four, three, two, one in it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. I don't know if I did.
Speaker:>> RB: I'm a member at the Moose Club, funny enough.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Moose Club outside my hometown. And that's where
Speaker:we got the Moose Club thing. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Three for two of past. Dude, that's. That's what I
Speaker:mean.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: People see people. But m. We thought, man,
Speaker:everyone's gonna get the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. No one got
Speaker:it. No one.
Speaker:>> RB: So you've done the Luke Combs, which. It's so cool
Speaker:because you can tell that you're. You're truly
Speaker:friends.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah, we're great buddies.
Speaker:>> RB: You're going on, um, hunting trips. You're golfing
Speaker:in his golf video. I think I sent it to you. Which
Speaker:you already saw, clearly, is that of him breaking
Speaker:his driver, which.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, my gosh, the guys. He is a riot to play golf
Speaker:with. It's. It's, uh.
Speaker:>> RB: You say, hey, he hates it, but he loves it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, he absolutely loves it. He's in love with
Speaker:golf, but he. But when you're out there and he
Speaker:makes a bad shot, you think it's the worst. Dave's
Speaker:life.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. We got a buddy like that.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. And I've been there, too. I've been there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: He's out. Uh, once the putter, the phone goes.
Speaker:Yeah, uh, he's out. He's out.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yep.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Tough.
Speaker:>> RB: So you've. You've obviously made a. A bunch of
Speaker:number ones for Luke Combs. Um, Cody Johnson.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: You just did a. Uh, yes, there.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, we have Cody's, um. Or I have Cody's current
Speaker:radio single right now that's doing really well,
Speaker:called the Fall.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: The Fall.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: The Fall, Yeah, it's doing real well, which I'm
Speaker:super excited about. I mean, Cody's been someone
Speaker:that I've looked up to for a long time, but also
Speaker:have just been a fan of his music. And so through
Speaker:this process, getting to know him and him cutting
Speaker:a song that we didn't even write together. Right.
Speaker:Like, he heard the song and loved it so much. It's
Speaker:like such an honor for a guy like him to cut that
Speaker:or record it.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, so let me ask you, as a person who's always
Speaker:with Luke and. And all of that.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: When is there a little bit of you that's a fan
Speaker:that you're kind of like when Cody. Because you're
Speaker:so. It's almost like Luke's your dude.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: He's just Luke to you.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: He's not this guy.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Right.
Speaker:>> RB: He's your best friend. Hey, dude, what's going on?
Speaker:How you doing? How the kids doing?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: When somebody like Cody Johnson's involved, are
Speaker:you kind of like in your mind? Like, this is. This
Speaker:is pretty sweet.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah, for sure.
Speaker:>> RB: And I mean, a pinch me moment, I guess. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: But here's the deal, too. And I've. I've been
Speaker:very, um. Um, I've been very, like, strict with
Speaker:myself about this too, as to, like, even though we
Speaker:are, like, me and Luke are so close, it's like I
Speaker:understand how I'm so grateful for the position
Speaker:that I've been in with him, and I'm so thankful,
Speaker:like, even though that we're like, so close, it's
Speaker:like, man, I know that some of the things we've
Speaker:got to do is so special. And so even though all
Speaker:the. Any other cuts that I've ever gotten are not
Speaker:any more special, it's just different because
Speaker:maybe I don't not as close with them.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Um, and so that's a different thing because it's
Speaker:like just the randomness of it too. Right. It's
Speaker:like one night stand. Yeah, it is. Yes. Every day
Speaker:at songwriting feels like that you never. You go
Speaker:in there and you're like, I'm gonna pour out my
Speaker:soul for a day, and then maybe. Maybe I'll see in
Speaker:a couple months.
Speaker:>> RB: But it's a one night stand that makes you money,
Speaker:not loses your money.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. Uh, you hope. I told somebody today on the
Speaker:phone, it was actually Jesse. I was like, he's
Speaker:like, you know, coming back in for Music Row, and,
Speaker:uh, I Said, yeah. And he goes, how was it? And I
Speaker:go, man, the song was great. I think I go, but
Speaker:we're just. We're just scratching off lottery
Speaker:tickets every day. We don't know which one's going
Speaker:to work. We don't know which one's, um, gonna be.
Speaker:The things half the time, the ones that we are
Speaker:just dead sure of that are gonna work, don't. And
Speaker:the ones that we walk out and don't think of for
Speaker:three months are the ones we get the call about.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: So there's no rhyme or reason. It's just going in
Speaker:there every day trying to cook. Do your thing and
Speaker:trying, uh, to cook, man.
Speaker:>> RB: Remind me to tell you. Remind me to tell you a
Speaker:lottery ticket story after this.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: All right.
Speaker:>> RB: Um. Any Eric Church. I mean, that's your idol.
Speaker:That's who you looked up to. Any Eric Church songs
Speaker:that anybody would recognize? Uh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: So, uh, the. Actually, the Luke and Eric, um, duet
Speaker:does to me. I wrote that one. I've got a chance to
Speaker:hang out with. With Eric a few times, and he's
Speaker:been super cool to me, which was like, they
Speaker:always. You know, there's that saying, never meet
Speaker:your heroes kind of thing. Right. And so there's
Speaker:always that apprehension of, like, I don't want
Speaker:to, like, hang out with them. And that ruined the.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: The vibe.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: The pedestal I put him. Yeah, whatever you want to
Speaker:call. Whatever my expectations were for Eric, he
Speaker:went above and beyond that. He's been so cool to
Speaker:me, and every time I've hung out with him, um, and
Speaker:so I can't say enough about that guy.
Speaker:>> RB: And you talk about not meeting your heroes and.
Speaker:And, you know, we were on a trip to Grove 23.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's sick.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Rolex you got on, bud.
Speaker:>> RB: Thanks, man.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That thing is flash.
Speaker:>> RB: He has somebody. Someone.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Damn.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, that was a. A, uh, gift.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Both you probably.
Speaker:>> RB: For number one.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It was a gift for. It was the end of Tour gift for
Speaker:2021 Arena Tour that I was on with Luke, and he
Speaker:surprised me with this. That's beautiful. Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I heard the Luke Bryan Rolex story with, um. Who
Speaker:was it? Oh, my God. I forget who it was, but he
Speaker:gave him a Rolex and he dropped it and the face
Speaker:shattered.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, no, I hadn't heard this.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, I forget who it was. Somebody just told me
Speaker:this story. George told me it. That he. That Luke
Speaker:presented him with a Rolex and the guy dropped it
Speaker:and it just shattered.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, God.
Speaker:>> RB: He was, like, so excited. Um, but we were at Grove
Speaker:23, and I went while we're having lunch to use the
Speaker:restroom. Yeah, he was there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Grove.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: With still. I mean, dude, that's right. That's
Speaker:what I was saying to you today in a car. I'm like,
Speaker:I was with Ray somewhere. It was a Sage Valley.
Speaker:And he's like, no, it wasn't Sage Valley. I was
Speaker:there.
Speaker:>> RB: And I'm like, baby, we'll get into the Sage talk.
Speaker:But it grows about the Grove talk. Okay, so it.
Speaker:Grove, I'm in the restroom and you talk about,
Speaker:like, you never want to meet your idols. And I'm
Speaker:standing there at the standup urinal, and I like,
Speaker:you feel this presence just. And it is mj. Bucket
Speaker:hat on, cigar and mouth.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh. Just like you want.
Speaker:>> RB: Coming at you. And you're like. And I'm wearing
Speaker:his shoes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And Jordan Brennan underwear.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: But, um, he should have said, thank you.
Speaker:Appreciate it.
Speaker:>> RB: He looks and he says, what's up, big guy? And I
Speaker:said, oh, nothing. How about you?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And I'm like, that was your shot.
Speaker:>> RB: This is what I did.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That was your chance.
Speaker:>> RB: And Gentry, who played in two man last year, who
Speaker:you meant? Yeah, he was his dude. He's like, bud,
Speaker:you'd be surprised how many people couldn't get
Speaker:anything out at.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That of their mouth.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, so it's like what you're saying? But yeah,
Speaker:that was one of the cooler.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That day was incredible. That day was incredible.
Speaker:Thank you all again.
Speaker:>> RB: Oh, dude, we're working on another day.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, uh, I'm gonna hold you to it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Was that not great? That was.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Dude, it was. It was.
Speaker:>> RB: Ray was chipping in cowboy boots.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It was so awesome. The first night, we're all
Speaker:there, we're figuring out how Stel's picking up
Speaker:the teams. We're doing. We're yelling out.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: We have no clue what we're doing. But it was.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It was absolutely. It was just how you would draw
Speaker:it up. Right. It's like the weather was great. We
Speaker:played till literally we had like, uh. We had
Speaker:flashlights out for that. For that parts.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Or that we. Yeah. With the headlights to see our
Speaker:shots at the end. I mean, played took the whole
Speaker:day. It was amazing.
Speaker:>> RB: Stell was my partner. He should be probably using
Speaker:a 48 inch driver. He used like a 39 inch driver
Speaker:that round.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But, uh, no, he used a 45. He should be using 50.
Speaker:I was playing with Archer in one of the rounds,
Speaker:and I'm just. We're just bullshitting, you know,
Speaker:Ryan Ross, so what are you working on? You know?
Speaker:And he said, well, I got this song that I'm
Speaker:working on with Nate Smith called I Wish I Never
Speaker:Felt. He's like, it's not out. It was.
Speaker:>> RB: This was in January when he wasn't even anybody
Speaker:needed.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's not out yet, but it's gonna get cut. So he,
Speaker:he played it for me. I'm like, damn, dude, that's
Speaker:a good song.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You know what I mean? And then, like, six months
Speaker:later, that song was being played everywhere.
Speaker:Yeah, I'm like, I heard that song in January when
Speaker:it was just.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, you got that.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, I will be honest with you. Those texts are the
Speaker:best texts that you get from, like, George sends
Speaker:you something. Oh, yeah. Sends you something. And
Speaker:you just listen to it and you're like, yeah, this
Speaker:is gonna be sick. And then you hear it on the
Speaker:radio and you're like, I've had, like, what you
Speaker:said. Yeah, I've heard that for six months.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Right. It's just. I love what you guys do, man.
Speaker:I'm jealous.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That was us with. I just got flashback to Two
Speaker:Cigars, and you were like.
Speaker:>> RB: So I was going to get into that.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, so let's get into the two stars. Um,
Speaker:so, you know, for everybody out there, I, I, I
Speaker:like to think myself as a songwriter, and I only
Speaker:get about four or five words into the song, but I
Speaker:said to Ray every start. Yeah, we were, uh, we
Speaker:were member guest partners at Nicole. And I said,
Speaker:ray, I said, somebody needs to come out with a
Speaker:cigar song, dude. Like, Slow Burn or, you know,
Speaker:like Time, whatever.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: About hot ash.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, something. And he, and so, like, like, that
Speaker:he didn't say much. And I'm like, kind of weird.
Speaker:So he, like, comes over, he's like, hey, man. He's
Speaker:like, I got a song. It's called Two Cigars. I'm
Speaker:like, no, uh, and so then he goes into it. So why
Speaker:don't you talk about your song Two Cigars, which
Speaker:is, it is deep, it is good, but it, there's so
Speaker:much meaning to it. Uh, and why the two cigars
Speaker:thing?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Well, I just remember when you, when you brought
Speaker:that up that day, we already were sort of just
Speaker:like, talking about life and stuff. And I was
Speaker:like, at that time, the song wasn't out. I think I
Speaker:only just had, like, a work tape of it.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: But I was like, literally, I was, I have to play
Speaker:this for him, like, now. And so the story behind
Speaker:the song for everybody is, um, again, I'm from
Speaker:Harlem, Georgia, went to University of Georgia.
Speaker:Um, I'm a huge Dogs fan. But again, if you are
Speaker:kind of have been around SEC circles, you know
Speaker:that it means the world. It means the world. And,
Speaker:um, and you, you form a lot of bonds through that.
Speaker:And so a guy that I grew up with, and we're a big
Speaker:group of friends back home, his dad was one that
Speaker:kind of went on the, uh, um, to the games with us
Speaker:together. I grew up with a son. Uh, he sang in our
Speaker:church growing up. And it's name's Mr. Jamie
Speaker:Newsome. And so Jamie, um, and the crew go down to
Speaker:go up to Indianapolis to watch Georgia play, uh,
Speaker:Alabama for the national championship. Um, so it's
Speaker:been January 22nd for the 21 season. And, uh,
Speaker:literally while they're up there, about two hours
Speaker:before kickoff, Jamie passes away in the hotel
Speaker:room getting ready to go to the game. That's just
Speaker:a tragedy that happened. Um, and. But one thing
Speaker:about Jamie is there's a. He was a great, great
Speaker:man. But if Georgia won the game, he's going to
Speaker:find someone to smoke a cigar with him.
Speaker:>> RB: So is that any game?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: If, uh, they win a game, he's going to suppose.
Speaker:>> RB: Okay.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, and I knew I wanted to
Speaker:write something to honor his memory, but I never
Speaker:could. Like, I didn't know what I want to be. And
Speaker:then it just literally hit me one morning and I
Speaker:was like, that's it. Like it's all tied back into
Speaker:that. And, um, got up and, uh, me and my roommate
Speaker:worked on it. Joan Rowe. And you know, it's one of
Speaker:them that it is about Jamie. But as you go through
Speaker:it, it's like really just honoring the people
Speaker:that, you know, because it's sort of about, man.
Speaker:Six hours later, George is winning a national
Speaker:championship and waited so long to see that. And
Speaker:even though he didn't see it here, I have a belief
Speaker:that he saw it, you know. And so, um. But in that
Speaker:moment, it's like this great thing is happening,
Speaker:but you're missing someone. And so really I just
Speaker:wanted to write something to. No matter what the
Speaker:person is for you or me or whoever, we. In any big
Speaker:event in our life, there's you missing someone.
Speaker:Like, there's that passing thought of like, man, I
Speaker:wish so and so was here to see this because they
Speaker:would love this. And I know we all have those
Speaker:people in our life, those memories of people. And
Speaker:so I wanted that to be for them and. And I. I
Speaker:ended up putting the song out and it became, um,
Speaker:you know, especially for our friend group back
Speaker:home. And stuff. A really special song and one
Speaker:that you know, it's, it's not number one on the
Speaker:radio, but it's like one that doesn't matter. It's
Speaker:the type of song that I moved to town to write and
Speaker:it's the type of story that I moved here to. To
Speaker:tell tell, you know. So um, I came here, I, I came
Speaker:here to affect people in the way that I was
Speaker:affected by music growing up. And that's like, you
Speaker:know, just hitting you right in the heart and just
Speaker:like really putting perspective on things and all.
Speaker:And, and that song does it as good as anything
Speaker:that I've ever wrote personally, I think. And.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And um, you're with uh, you're with Universal
Speaker:Music as a publisher?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yes, Universal, ah, Music publishing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean it's.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, I've been there with them for probably five
Speaker:years. Yeah. So I was with River House, a smaller
Speaker:company and then I was with River House and
Speaker:Universal. Now I'm ah, with Universal. Um, and I
Speaker:mean I'm just thankful to like. I mean there was a
Speaker:day in time where it was like, it felt like that
Speaker:it was like moving the ends of the earth to be
Speaker:able to get a publishing deal. And so there's not
Speaker:a day that goes by that I don't appreciate that.
Speaker:I'm so grateful for being there, you know, and uh,
Speaker:and get to write with the people I do every day.
Speaker:But yeah, Universal, man.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Gratitude is so powerful.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Mhm.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean if you really know how to exercise that.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It really shifts your perspective on everything.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. I mean I'm a stuff, I'm a true believer that
Speaker:like so much about life and joy and happiness and
Speaker:all that is so much tied to perspective. Right.
Speaker:And so much tied to like being able to step back
Speaker:and look at the situation and not just be in it,
Speaker:but look at it and understand like golly, look at
Speaker:your journey. Right. Look where I got to make a
Speaker:list. And making a. Even if it's a mental list of
Speaker:like all the things that you have to be thankful
Speaker:for, then it's like, boom, that changes it the
Speaker:changes life, dude.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So how many number ones you have?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Uh, six number ones.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: All right, Not a bad.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, six number ones.
Speaker:>> RB: And Luke has four or five.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Luke Holmes has four.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Four.
Speaker:>> RB: No, I'm saying like that you've written.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh no, so, so my number ones, I was about to say
Speaker:you might need to quadruple that little offense
Speaker:there.
Speaker:>> RB: But I thought we were like wait.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: A second, dog, I gotta, yeah, I gotta stick it for
Speaker:my guy. Uh, Four. No, uh, six of the. So those six
Speaker:are with Luke. Um, we have high hopes for the, uh,
Speaker:Cody. For the Cody song. Um, had a top 20 last
Speaker:year with a guy named Radio with Dylan Carmichael.
Speaker:But I've been lucky enough to have, um, cuts with
Speaker:a bunch of folks that I look up to. Jordan Davis
Speaker:cut, um, a song, mine and Thomas's and Michael,
Speaker:uh, Tyler and Jordan Rowe last year. Know you like
Speaker:that. It went number one on the highway. So when
Speaker:we speak of number ones, it's more about just FM
Speaker:radio number one. But that song did do well on the
Speaker:highway with number one stuff. And what was it
Speaker:called? Know you like that. Oh, yeah. Know you
Speaker:like that.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I didn't know you wrote that.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And, uh, so.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, I mean, but it's hard to keep up with a guy
Speaker:like.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And been lucky to have a lot of people cut songs,
Speaker:which I'm very thankful of. But, yeah, the six big
Speaker:ones so far, I've been with. With my main man,
Speaker:Luke.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: What do you got cooking right now? 20, 25,
Speaker:November. What do you got cooking, man?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I tell you what, I made it a huge goal of mine in
Speaker:January time. Talking about, like, there's no one
Speaker:that's going to outwork me this year. That was my
Speaker:goal. And, like. And I just. Because I'm a firm
Speaker:believer. Red Aikens told me this one time, and
Speaker:I've never forgotten it. He said, we can't.
Speaker:There's so much in our business that you can't
Speaker:control. Right. But the thing you can't control is
Speaker:your work ethic, showing up every day and doing
Speaker:everything you do the best of your ability. And.
Speaker:And he goes. He had a cool thing. He goes, all
Speaker:we're doing every day is we're planting seeds.
Speaker:Yeah. And we're planting the best seeds we can.
Speaker:And we don't get to pick what grows. We don't get
Speaker:to pick when it grows. But I'm a firm believer
Speaker:that if you plant those seeds the right way, that
Speaker:something will grow. And, um.
Speaker:>> RB: So true.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. So to your point about what's going on this
Speaker:year or November 25, um, 26 got a chance to be a
Speaker:Big Year. So, uh, there's a lot of stuff that I.
Speaker:That I can't say specifics on. Uh.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, come on, give us a spill. Uh, like, with what
Speaker:artist?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: There's. There. I can't. But let me say this.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, come on, Ray.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Let me say this. I'mma update you. I'm g. Update
Speaker:you. We're g. And we're going to do this again.
Speaker:And then we'll get to go back through. We'll get
Speaker:to listen to this little piece and you'll go, um,
Speaker:okay. Because it's. Man, I.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's under wraps.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. It's just part of the business. Right.
Speaker:Because so many things until they fail, but until
Speaker:they have. Until they happen, they haven't
Speaker:happened. But there's a lot of, uh.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I respect it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. A lot of cool things that. That are
Speaker:hopefully coming down the. The pipe. And, um. And
Speaker:I think it's a direct correlation with. Right.
Speaker:Like showing up, trying to do it the right way.
Speaker:And, um. Yeah, it's been a good year for that.
Speaker:That I. I hope you know, we're talking about seeds
Speaker:and stuff growing. Hopefully there's some harvest
Speaker:going on in 26.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So, you know, I was just talking.
Speaker:>> RB: Only one seed bastard plan.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I was talking to, uh, my buddy about this because
Speaker:he's. He's reading the book the Atomic Habits.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And, um, I haven't read yet. Listening to. But,
Speaker:you know, in theory, it's not so much not caring
Speaker:about the goals. Goals are important. But it's the
Speaker:procedures and it's the process. Process.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: To get. And that's where the discipline comes in.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Because I have. I learned too, like, I mean, what
Speaker:we do is. So it's hard, right, to kind of like,
Speaker:keep your. And it's like, I've learned that the
Speaker:more that you. When you take your. Off the process
Speaker:and you look up and you go, well, gosh, like, why
Speaker:isn't this happening? Or like, man, I'm working so
Speaker:hard, and why isn't this happening? And it's like,
Speaker:we've all had those moments, right, where you find
Speaker:something in the. Like when you're not looking for
Speaker:it is when it happens. And it's the same thing.
Speaker:And like, uh, in our business, too, it's like, put
Speaker:your head down, work. And you, like, you just have
Speaker:faith that results are going to come.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's right.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: The good Lord's going to bless what you're doing.
Speaker:You just have faith in that.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Amen.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Um, and it's like when you. Man, it's like your
Speaker:head's on the ground, you know, nose is on the
Speaker:grindstone. And then it's like, oh, well, somebody
Speaker:taps you on the shoulder and goes, hey, this good
Speaker:thing happened. And then you keep going and it's
Speaker:like, hey, buddy, this good thing happened. And
Speaker:you go, oh, there's a direct correlation from just
Speaker:like me not looking for it, you know, so the
Speaker:process.
Speaker:>> RB: Is everything yeah, See, I'll use a golf quote
Speaker:about what you just spoke about. And. And I think
Speaker:what Ben Hogan said, um, was. Is still very true.
Speaker:Is the harder you work, the luckier you get.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: 100. Yeah, that's a great quote.
Speaker:>> RB: So, um, I think that's with everything in life,
Speaker:right?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: You know, like, I. Like I went back to that. What
Speaker:I. I'm, um, talking to my son. Somebody's gonna do
Speaker:something to get better today or get worse. You're
Speaker:not gonna ever stay the same.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. And that's the truth. I mean, that's true
Speaker:about life in general.
Speaker:>> RB: There's probably days where you wake up. I
Speaker:guarantee you there's days where you wake up and
Speaker:you're like, I really don't want to go this.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, uh, I mean.
Speaker:>> RB: And you know what?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You're like, no, I'm not too proud to say I had
Speaker:one this week. The difference is it was probably
Speaker:with Thomas Archer. Still going. Yeah, it wasn't.
Speaker:But let's just. Because we're gonna dog on him.
Speaker:Let's just say it was with Thomas.
Speaker:>> RB: Thomas Archer. I knew it. Miserable.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: But I think the difference is, is like. And what
Speaker:I've learned to do. I haven't always shown up on
Speaker:those days. Right. There's been times in my life
Speaker:where I haven't. On the days where I'm like, this
Speaker:is the last thing I want to do. But there's power
Speaker:just showing up, especially when you don't want
Speaker:to. Right.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You know, that's the discipline aspect, dude.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's like me, you know, it's like I was tired of,
Speaker:like, looking at my back shoulder and seeing a
Speaker:pimple. Yeah. So I bought a backwash.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You know, one thing leads to the next, baby.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But seriously, you know, the whole work aspect is.
Speaker:Is that it's the discipline approach. There's.
Speaker:Yeah. You don't want to show up things, but you
Speaker:got to.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. And it's like you just. It's kind of.
Speaker:Because not. You got to think about. We're
Speaker:creating something every day. So you're not.
Speaker:This is. We're humans. We're not wired to, like.
Speaker:We're not going to wake up every day feeling
Speaker:creative.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You're just not. And so you gotta find a way to be
Speaker:creative on the days you don't feel creative.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Golf.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: What does the game of. Well, first off, golf's
Speaker:responsible for why we are sitting here.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Uh, it's, uh, the truth. We talked about that
Speaker:today, and it.
Speaker:>> RB: Is the sole reason how we met you, um. And I feel
Speaker:like, let's be honest, it's the bond to our
Speaker:relationship.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: 100 it is. I mean, we haven't.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, I mean, he doesn't want to.
Speaker:>> RB: Talk to me at a time, but, um. But golf. What.
Speaker:What does that game. Sport do for you as a
Speaker:individual?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It's a lot of. I mean, it's a lot of things I have
Speaker:grown to. So the first time that I've been around
Speaker:someone who loved golf is my best friend from back
Speaker:home, like my. My lifelong. Since we were five
Speaker:years old. Uh, Jordy Whitaker. Jordan Whitaker.
Speaker:Um, I call him Jordy Jordan. But he loved golf
Speaker:growing up, and I really wasn't into golf, but I,
Speaker:like, saw how much he loved it. And so then it's
Speaker:like, I got older. I'm like, man, I'm gonna try
Speaker:this golf thing with Jordan. And, man, I, um. I
Speaker:quickly fell in love with it for a lot of reasons.
Speaker:And the reasons it is today is like, it. Golf is
Speaker:such, like a. Hey, it takes up your mind, too. And
Speaker:so it gives me this full unplug. Right. From
Speaker:everything else. And it gets. It gives me
Speaker:something to pour myself into. And it. Because I'm
Speaker:a competitive person, I played sports growing up.
Speaker:I get to scratch that competitive itch. Not
Speaker:necessarily even against someone else, but the you
Speaker:versus you thing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Right.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Um. And there's just so much. I don't know. It's.
Speaker:It's hard to put into words, but there's. There's,
Speaker:like. The game of golf is magical, perfect.
Speaker:There's, like, something about it that, uh. And I
Speaker:think. I mean, half the time I'm out here because
Speaker:it's. It's beautiful. It's like you're outside. It
Speaker:is. Is all the things that make up you as a man in
Speaker:one place. Right. It's like the competitive thing,
Speaker:the unplugging thing. It's beautiful.
Speaker:It's all this stuff. And you're hanging out with
Speaker:your boys.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And you're catching up on life, and you're talking
Speaker:about song ideas, and you're like. And it's just
Speaker:combination of all that.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Especially for you writers. Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Talking about ideas.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, for me, I've played golf. I mean, since I
Speaker:came out of the womb, I was obsessed with golf.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Right.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, my mom was telling me stories when I was 2
Speaker:and 3 years old in my crib. I. I stole my dad's
Speaker:Golf Digest magazines.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Would.
Speaker:>> RB: They'd sit there and listen to me saying, golf
Speaker:ball hit swish.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Like, it's Been a part of my life. Yeah. Like it's
Speaker:been a part of my life and now I look at it and I
Speaker:play a sport with my dad, 73 years old myself and
Speaker:my 8 year old son.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. Yep.
Speaker:>> RB: What else?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Can't do that.
Speaker:>> RB: You can't do that in any other sport.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Ah.
Speaker:>> RB: Or anything. You know. And then also on the flip
Speaker:side of that, have seven buddies play a round of
Speaker:golf. And, and, and we have the time of our life
Speaker:drinking beers and, and having fun.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: So I think that the camaraderie and the memories
Speaker:made is like, it just creates the. It like built,
Speaker:perpetually builds on itself of like the memories.
Speaker:Right. And it's like, then you've played a course
Speaker:and we get to talk about it. Yeah. I go, dude, you
Speaker:got to come play this with me. And it's like, it's
Speaker:just this foundation of memories, camaraderie, the
Speaker:building of the friendship. It's like all that.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, think about where we have all played as
Speaker:US3.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Okay. Yeah. Your troubadours.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yep.
Speaker:>> RB: Your Grove 23s. Your sage valleys nemecle Old
Speaker:Hickory. Like, okay, our life's pretty sick.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, but you know the Sage Valley story. You got me
Speaker:as a roommate.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Tell me if you're a pretty great roommate, though.
Speaker:>> RB: Well now though.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Huh? Huh?
Speaker:>> RB: I snore now though.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You snore now, Everyone.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Every other day, dude.
Speaker:>> RB: Today's my on day.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: She woke me up. She woke me up last night and was
Speaker:like so weird.
Speaker:>> RB: What is going on?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You're snoring and I'm all, I must have a dry
Speaker:throat.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Is it because we're getting older buds?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I don't know, man. I'm kind of like not cool with
Speaker:that.
Speaker:>> RB: So we, we. Well, we show up stage cold. Taylor. I
Speaker:always divert back to him. Like, he didn't tell
Speaker:anybody we're coming. Neil and I. So we showed up
Speaker:and luckily it all worked out to where like Ray
Speaker:was like, dude, I got an extra bed. Just stay with
Speaker:me.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, perfect.
Speaker:>> RB: So I'm like, I'm with Ray, which I know him and
Speaker:it's all good.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I am hammered.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Smashed.
Speaker:>> RB: Smashed it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, I wasn't there, but I'm just in emphasizing.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, my man, you. He. My man was his. Ray is
Speaker:exactly what you would think. Like, uh, everything
Speaker:was laid out perfectly.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Shoes were lined up for the next two days.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, shoes are lined up, belts are rolled up.
Speaker:Everything's perfect. I come in like a hurricane,
Speaker:no pun intended. And I freaking. I don't even know
Speaker:if you Were in there. I trip over a cowboy boot. I
Speaker:thought I was face planning this dresser, dude. I
Speaker:mean, like, thank God I didn't see it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You told me.
Speaker:>> RB: Oh, my God. So then I'm sitting there the next
Speaker:morning, and I'm like, oh, God, this is terrible.
Speaker:We gotta play golf today. Like, I don't even want
Speaker:to play golf. He's like, go in the shower. I'm
Speaker:like, why? Because I didn't experience this yet.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And he's like, just go in the shower. I'm like,
Speaker:okay, turn it on, dude.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It's unbelievable.
Speaker:>> RB: The. This is so weird to talk about, but the
Speaker:single greatest showers in all of America.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Stupid.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I'll stand. I'll stand by that.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, hands down, this thing brought me back to
Speaker:life. I was in there in the hot water, and then I
Speaker:flipped it to cold to get really cold. Yeah. And,
Speaker:dude, it was like. I'm like, huh?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It's the best water pressure in the continental
Speaker:United States. It has to be.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: They don't pass code. Oh, that's what. That's what
Speaker:everyone says anyways. There's just no way. But
Speaker:it's.
Speaker:>> RB: It is. I did. Our other buddy, Tyler Reeve, knows
Speaker:how many buckets come out of the second.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, he does.
Speaker:>> RB: How many pine needles are laying on the golf
Speaker:course? But it's just like, dude. Well, so this
Speaker:all started from a random day.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And I know that I could text you and be like, hey,
Speaker:you want to go off here or you want to.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Or if you need anything, you're going to Pinehurst
Speaker:in a couple weeks. You need anything, just let me
Speaker:know. I mean, I got Pinehurst.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Remember that day that I. It was like, remember
Speaker:my. Something happened. My laundry. I was on radio
Speaker:tour or something, and I was going to be close to
Speaker:Pinehurst. Yeah. And I was like, hey, dude, I. I
Speaker:have to take. I have to do laundry.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, Blair.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Like, I have to do. He was like, dude, I got you,
Speaker:bro. You're good. And it's like, yeah. All because
Speaker:it started with golf.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Drunk.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And now we're family.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Now we're fam.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So I got a good one. That Pep. Pep's going to
Speaker:remember when I start to tell this story. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Huh.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, just because there's a link to you in some
Speaker:respect. Well, kind of. But. Yeah, there is. But,
Speaker:uh, we're at Sage Valley in May, and I randomly
Speaker:hosted a guy at Pikewood national, where I'm a
Speaker:member in Morgantown, and he and I hit it off.
Speaker:Great. One of my favorite humans, Taylor Kenny.
Speaker:And he plays on Chicago Fire Seide. So we're going
Speaker:to Sage Valley. Pepe sets this trip up in May. So
Speaker:we're like, let's get tk to go. TK's with Chris
Speaker:Collins.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah, Chris Collins. Okay.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Uh, so TK rolls down and this was for
Speaker:Chris's son's event in Savannah, or where were we?
Speaker:>> RB: I know where you're going with us. Yeah, we. Well,
Speaker:we were in Augusta. Was at the Marriott.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: We're in Augusta to Marriott. We got it. We. We
Speaker:have to leave Sage Valley to go to this event.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Which is fine. Totally cool. So I'm like, TK's
Speaker:getting dressed and we gotta leave at like 6:30.
Speaker:And Pep's frantically walking around like, you
Speaker:know, we gotta go, we gotta go, we gotta go. And
Speaker:I'm like, all right, man, what do you want me to
Speaker:do? I can't tell the guy to like, you know,
Speaker:whatever. So.
Speaker:>> RB: Hey, bud, hurry up.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So I'm like, yo, we gotta leave in like, 15. Okay,
Speaker:cool. So TK has no idea where the we're go.
Speaker:Neither do we. We don't know where we're going.
Speaker:>> RB: We don't know where we're going into.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: We're going into this.
Speaker:>> RB: A charity event.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Charity event. And it was when I got there, I'm
Speaker:like, holy. There's cop cars, fire, all this
Speaker:stuff, right?
Speaker:>> RB: It was awesome for his son.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But the auctioneer, as soon as we walked in, the
Speaker:auctioneer comes up to Taylor.
Speaker:>> RB: Bang.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And he's like, man, you're. You're one of my
Speaker:favorite characters on tv. You know, the show's on
Speaker:NBC and every woman.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, I can't imagine.
Speaker:>> RB: Came over and take a photo.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So I'm like, oh, my God. Like, Taylor is probably
Speaker:going like, what.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: The hell did you guys.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Did you guys bring me to? Because I'm getting
Speaker:bombarded by people and the auctioneers up to him.
Speaker:He's like, hey, man, I'm gonna be auctioning off a
Speaker:fire cap tonight. A helmet fire cap. And he's
Speaker:like, I want you to come up when I do it, you
Speaker:know, and whatever, whatever. And TK was great.
Speaker:He's like, sure, whatever, you. You know. So we're
Speaker:sitting around there, we're at this table. It's
Speaker:me, Pep, Vinnie Trocheck, and TK bcats. And I, uh,
Speaker:don't know who else was there. Mike Oates. And the
Speaker:guy comes up finally to. To TK to get him to come
Speaker:up. So he goes up in front of all these people,
Speaker:and the women are Going nuts. They're going nuts.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Like Elvis back in the day.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And he gives TK the mic to talk. And now I'm. I'm
Speaker:like. I'm kind of like, oh, my. I'm feeling
Speaker:awkward because I'm like, number one, I didn't,
Speaker:like, preface this was ever gonna happen. I didn't
Speaker:know it was gonna happen. But number two, I'm
Speaker:thinking to myself, this guy's never gonna want to
Speaker:come on a golf trip with us again because. Because
Speaker:we're going to. I brought him to this event. And
Speaker:so TK Bids on this boot that was auctioned off as
Speaker:a worn Luke Combs boot on tour.
Speaker:>> RB: Best part of the story.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So TK Gets it. He's like, pep, let's get whatever.
Speaker:So he gets his boot, and I, uh. He didn't, uh. It
Speaker:was a sign.
Speaker:>> RB: He thought it was what? He thought it was Sean
Speaker:Combs. That's the best part of this story. He
Speaker:thought it was Sean. Sean.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Puffy Combs.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That's why.
Speaker:>> RB: So he bid on it because he's like, oh, it's Sean
Speaker:Combs, P. Diddy. So he bid on it, and whenever he
Speaker:won it, they're like this. Congratulations on
Speaker:loose comes. And he brings it back laughing. He
Speaker:goes, I thought it was Sean Combs. So we have this
Speaker:boot.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So Peps had. So he gave Pep the boot. He said,
Speaker:this is our trophy for our future golf trips. You
Speaker:know, I don't know how we're going to utilize it.
Speaker:>> RB: You usually don't know about what's. What's
Speaker:happening with it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, how. Yeah, I.
Speaker:>> RB: Don't.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Tell me.
Speaker:>> RB: So. And this is funny. Um, so at the end of hockey
Speaker:games, they give players, like, in. In that locker
Speaker:room. So the Nashville Predators will be like, all
Speaker:right. They have a catfish. And they're like, hey,
Speaker:all right.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Hey, boys, you played good today. Uh, here's your
Speaker:player of the game. And they. The teammate hands
Speaker:it off from the day that. Before that, who was the
Speaker:player of the game? Well, I'm in a group text with
Speaker:Trojek and TK and we're talking about when we're
Speaker:going to. In December to see TK and go to dinner
Speaker:with Vince. And Vince said, who has the boot? And
Speaker:I said, well, I still have the boot. And he said,
Speaker:you need to bring it. He said, that's gonna. He
Speaker:said, we need some luck to change around here. We
Speaker:want to pat. We want to use it as the. As the, uh,
Speaker:player of the game.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, wow.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh. So it's going to New York.
Speaker:>> RB: So it's going to be in the Rangers locker room.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Wow.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So it's no longer. That's pretty dope.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It's pretty awesome.
Speaker:>> RB: We just need that back, though, because Sean
Speaker:Combs. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You give it a loan.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You give it a loan. It's not. It's not a forever
Speaker:thing, right?
Speaker:>> RB: No, no. Like, but what we were talking about is
Speaker:maybe like take it on golf trips and have people
Speaker:sign the boot.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And so. But the fact that he thought it was Sean
Speaker:Com.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's hilarious.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That is all Timer.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Hilarious.
Speaker:>> RB: Like, dude, so funny. Cuz he.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: First of all, they're going to call him Sean Combs
Speaker:and not all the other things. Puff Daddy P. Diddy.
Speaker:>> RB: Like a million other things.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: God, that is so puffy. So I didn't know that.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Wow.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, he literally. Because that's why he was
Speaker:laughing so hard. He's like. I thought he said. I
Speaker:thought it was for Sean Combs.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Unbelievable.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Now you know, the question is whether or not it's
Speaker:a legitimate boot that Luke wore.
Speaker:>> RB: I think he donated it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, I could have. Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I think two. What's his name?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Sonny Davis.
Speaker:>> RB: Football at Texas am. Um, punter. Oh, I'll tell
Speaker:you, I don't know.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: It could have. It might not have. There's probably
Speaker:some more, son. Davis. Yeah, yeah. Davis. Yeah.
Speaker:Oh, I forgot he kicked it. Texas Stadium.
Speaker:I was thinking about East Carolina the.
Speaker:>> RB: Whole time Johnny Manzo was there.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I was thinking about East Carolina.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Texas A M is one of the top four. Sniffing around.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah, they're doing real good.
Speaker:>> RB: So you. You were. You worked for the. The old
Speaker:Bulldogs?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I did. I was a manager and student assistant for.
Speaker:Then I was a grad assistant.
Speaker:>> RB: Were you rubbing the balls down or what?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Balls trainer. Trainer
Speaker:stuff. That's trainer stuff.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, you got to rub the balls down, dude. Brand
Speaker:new balls. They got to like. Did you ever watch
Speaker:the process of how they rub those down?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: No, actually, if we're talking about the
Speaker:footballs.
Speaker:>> RB: The football.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And I actually did do that. That was part of my.
Speaker:Yeah, because I was. I work with the quarterbacks.
Speaker:You did? Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Who was your quarterback then?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Uh, it was my. My first year was David Green, then
Speaker:it was DJ Shockley, and then it was Matt Stafford.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No, Stafford.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And then, um, when I was kind of on the way out
Speaker:was when Aaron Murray was coming in.
Speaker:>> RB: Wait, is that. We got him on a podcast. Um, Aaron
Speaker:Murray, but we had it. But Stafford, his wife's
Speaker:like flying off the handle. Why is she the One
Speaker:with the podcast.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yes.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I don't know.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, she's like flying off the handle that she
Speaker:like, while she was dating Stafford in college.
Speaker:She took it or some.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Well, yeah, I don't know who, I don't know who
Speaker:the, the other, the other, uh, party was, but she
Speaker:did, uh, she said something about that. Yeah, I
Speaker:heard about it and I.
Speaker:>> RB: Was like, you'd be bringing this up right now.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, like, my God.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And he's on a. I mean, the Rams are playing great
Speaker:ball. He's a great. That's pretty cool. I didn't
Speaker:know that, Ray.
Speaker:>> RB: You didn't know that?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No, Rod balls. I didn't know that.
Speaker:>> RB: The footballs.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: The football. Oh, we're going to get in the weeds
Speaker:and footballs now. All right, so.
Speaker:>> RB: So what, what's the process? Here's the dealing a
Speaker:football down.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: So when you like game balls, right? So brand new
Speaker:footballs, all these colleges pro, they get a like
Speaker:tons of brand new football.
Speaker:>> RB: Georgia gets more than anybody, tons of.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Brand new footballs to start the year. But a brand
Speaker:new football is so like, you can't throw that
Speaker:thing. It's so waxy and stuff. So the game balls
Speaker:start out as like the balls that kickers are like
Speaker:practicing with every day. So they're getting like
Speaker:broke in. And then from that they go to like
Speaker:practice balls. So then it's the ones that the
Speaker:quarterbacks are like practicing with. And then
Speaker:every once in a while the quarterback will be
Speaker:like, huh, uh, yeah, this is a game ball. So by
Speaker:the time they get to be a game ball, they're like
Speaker:super, super, super broken.
Speaker:>> RB: It's slick, right?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: No, it's not slick. It's like it actually has
Speaker:tacked on it. Right? Because they're super slick
Speaker:when they come out of the. When they just come out
Speaker:of the box. Um, and so probably at least I did.
Speaker:Everybody assumes that like the game balls are
Speaker:brand new balls. They're not. They're the ones
Speaker:that have been through the ringer and have come
Speaker:out and are just like the perfect feel for the
Speaker:quarterback. The quarterback's the one that
Speaker:decides the game. Yeah. And so there's a bag of
Speaker:like, you know, there's like, probably. I remember
Speaker:when I was doing it because I was working with the
Speaker:quarterbacks. That was one of my. It's funny you
Speaker:bring that up. One of my responsibilities was game
Speaker:balls. And so I had this just this bag of. And not
Speaker:like a grocery bag, like a big kind of, um, a
Speaker:zipper bag. A big athletic looking zipper bag that
Speaker:I Would. Duffel bag thing like a hockey bag? Yeah.
Speaker:Yes. That I would have the game balls in, and I
Speaker:had more than most people would have because I
Speaker:would just accumulate them. Because Stafford would
Speaker:always be like. And he would be good about it.
Speaker:Staffer would be like, this is one. And I just put
Speaker:that up. I wouldn't. We wouldn't practice with
Speaker:anymore. Put it up. So I had an accumulation of 10
Speaker:or 12. You don't really need more than 6 for the
Speaker:game. But then we play Kentucky. Kentucky. And
Speaker:back then, Kentucky had a problem with. Not a
Speaker:problem. They had a tradition, you say, of every
Speaker:extra point and every field goal, that ball is
Speaker:getting tossed to the top of the stadium and
Speaker:getting thrown out. And so we played at Kentucky,
Speaker:and. Because I had those 10 or 12 game balls. No,
Speaker:because I had the 10 or 12 game balls. That saved
Speaker:my ass. Because they. We scored 40 on them or
Speaker:whatever, and they threw. They threw five or six
Speaker:out of the stadium.
Speaker:>> RB: So they. So actually, the fans, it's like the
Speaker:student section just gets it, and they're.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Like, throwing and they toss it up.
Speaker:>> RB: That's hilarious.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: To the very top. And then it goes out of the
Speaker:stadium. That happened. And I remember going, I
Speaker:always thought I was crazy for being that neurotic
Speaker:for having this many game balls. Thank God I did,
Speaker:like, say something to you, huh? No. Nobody gives.
Speaker:Nobody cares. So they just expect it to be there,
Speaker:right?
Speaker:>> RB: SEC ball. Um, my sister played college golf in
Speaker:Kentucky, and from 98 to 2002, well, her official
Speaker:visit to UK was for the Tim Couch Peyton Manning
Speaker:game at UK.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, wow.
Speaker:>> RB: Pretty sick.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That is.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That's awesome.
Speaker:>> RB: That's pretty sick.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That's awesome. So, dude, I haven't talked about
Speaker:game balls in 15 years.
Speaker:>> RB: So how long does it take? Like, you say you sand
Speaker:it down, then you oil it?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Well, they have these little pads that. I don't
Speaker:even know what's on the pad. I don't remember. But
Speaker:you kind of, like, you start kind of with this
Speaker:pad, and it. It kind of helps build that tact,
Speaker:right?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So you even do that before the kickers get it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: You can do that at the beginning, but then you
Speaker:definitely do it once it becomes like a game ball.
Speaker:You kind of just, you know, just kind of rub it
Speaker:down. It's not like. It's just basically to. To
Speaker:make sure that leather is just can. You can grip
Speaker:it, so don't get too slick or whatever. Um, and
Speaker:then. So before every game, though, the officials
Speaker:take those game balls and they. They go through
Speaker:them and make sure that everyone is to regulation.
Speaker:So this, you know, this inflated to the right
Speaker:amount that it doesn't have like that tact on it
Speaker:or whatever.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, so the Patriots, they get a.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Hold of it, like, see, I gotta know more about
Speaker:that because is that something.
Speaker:>> RB: Can you, can you toy with that a little bit? The
Speaker:pounds and all that, or no.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I mean, maybe there's people that do. I didn't
Speaker:have the cojones to do that. I ain't messing with
Speaker:that. Y' all know, so. Because so once the. Once
Speaker:the referees, uh, the officials got done with that
Speaker:bag, I was not like, not.
Speaker:>> RB: You weren't privy.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I ain't messing with them. I ain't messing with
Speaker:them. So I ain't saying other people. Hatton, I
Speaker:don't know that. I don't disk know that, but I
Speaker:never did.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So that's hilarious. See all the. That like exists
Speaker:and like that.
Speaker:>> RB: My man was, uh, rubbing down footballs, the
Speaker:driving U hauls at gas stations when it's raining.
Speaker:And now here we are.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Here we are, everybody's story. Yeah, and that's
Speaker:what. Going back to what you were saying earlier,
Speaker:I think like in kind of what we do not. I mean,
Speaker:not just the music business, but in life, it's
Speaker:like there really is no blueprint, right? It's
Speaker:like there's not. There's not a blueprint. It's
Speaker:not like you do this, you do that, you do this,
Speaker:you do that, and this is the outcome. It don't
Speaker:work that way.
Speaker:>> RB: How do you, you know, you get. Just got to get
Speaker:there.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And it's all about Coach Bobo used to, about.
Speaker:Used to put, um, when I worked there, the
Speaker:offensive coordinator now for Georgia was there
Speaker:when I was at Georgia. But I remember every game
Speaker:day he would put on the whiteboard. Quarterback
Speaker:whiteboard. Enjoy the journey. And I remember in
Speaker:college being like, what does he mean by that?
Speaker:Yeah, you know, what does that have to do with our
Speaker:football game? And now I get it right, because
Speaker:it's all a journey. And it's all like appreciating
Speaker:the moment you're in in that journey, you know,
Speaker:and how it relates to football is like, if you
Speaker:appreciate the moment, it gives you a better
Speaker:chance. Driving in the moment.
Speaker:>> RB: Last thing I will say about this, uh, during this
Speaker:podcast, this is my last. Well, until the tap in
Speaker:segment. Marshall played at Georgia this year.
Speaker:They did 30, 38 and a half point underdogs. I bet
Speaker:Cole Taylor in the second half. I owe him drinks.
Speaker:I owe him a whole night.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Well, he's only about 400ft away from us right
Speaker:now.
Speaker:>> RB: I don't. I don't. I don't.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: He's.
Speaker:>> RB: He's somewhere. He's somewhere. He might pop out
Speaker:of that ATM.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: When we go around this corner. He might be
Speaker:standing there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: He might be.
Speaker:>> RB: But I took the herd and the dogs only beat him by
Speaker:38.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, I remember that.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Covered by half a point.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: It's insane.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So, Ray Ray, man, it's been awesome.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. Thank you all. Man, hearing your story, I
Speaker:was pumped to talk about. About golf and life.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. And I know for sure, you know, getting back
Speaker:to Grove, because that's where we were. I mean, my
Speaker:guy can play some G. You were paid a Ray at Grove?
Speaker:>> RB: He was.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I was kind of doing it that day, man.
Speaker:>> RB: I wanted to lay him out.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I was having a day.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Just had to pay him.
Speaker:>> RB: Stella and I finished last.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's all you had to do is pay him?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Pay pick at like, there it was again. It's not.
Speaker:It's not even on purpose. It's just what you're
Speaker:paying me.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I gotta show you the real.
Speaker:>> RB: When we're done.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: When we're done. Yeah, because it's so good, dude.
Speaker:It's so good.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: But, um. But no, I mean, thank y'. All and another
Speaker:trip to the Grove is. It's. Let me just say, it's
Speaker:not low on my priority list. It's not low. It's.
Speaker:>> RB: You know, you're. You're clear that week, huh?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Huh? Yeah, I'm clear that week, though.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, I think. I think we all are.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, I'm clear that week.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Come on. Sorks it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Let's go.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: All right, we're going to finish this off here
Speaker:with our standard tap in segment presented by Bet
Speaker:Nardi Golf. Check them out at, uh, bet nardi dot
Speaker:com. Get yourself some putters. Pep's gonna ask
Speaker:you some questions.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Okay.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Uh, at the man. Your response here, Quickly.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Quick response. A little. A little rapid fire.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, we've had so many people that have taken
Speaker:their good old time.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I'm a rapid fire duck.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: The duck. Uh, Willie Robertson.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, it took forever.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It was like, uh, it was. It was.
Speaker:>> RB: It was like 30 minutes of our show.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, my God.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It was good, though. But anyway, so here we go.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: All right.
Speaker:>> RB: Dream foursome. Dead or alive.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: George Straight. Uh, let's go. Herschel Walker.
Speaker:>> RB: Oh, that's.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's a great one.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Um. The good Lord. My man Jesus.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Amen.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I like to think he plays golf.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Definitely.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Scratch Babe Ruth.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: All right.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, now that you said Babe Ruth, because
Speaker:some. My son and I have this debate, so I'm just
Speaker:gonna throw this into, uh, a tap in question. Who
Speaker:is the greatest baseball player of all time? Babe
Speaker:Ruth. Shohei Otani.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, it's Babe Ruth. The reason I say that is
Speaker:because when you look at what let me say this,
Speaker:Shohei Otani, what he has done is undescribable.
Speaker:>> RB: Ten strikeouts, three home runs in one game.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah, it's. It's indescribable in today's game.
Speaker:That's crazy. But when you look at even what's
Speaker:crazier, you want to get crazier in that. Look at
Speaker:Bay roost stats and every. What everyone else was
Speaker:doing at that time. Um, the only guy crazier than
Speaker:him was Babe Ruth. You have to take that. You have
Speaker:to take the time that he was playing into account.
Speaker:And when you do that, I think the only guy crazier
Speaker:than Ohtani is Babe Ruth.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, most memorable concert.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Um, my first one, or the first Eric church one in
Speaker:2006 or seven. What gave me this dream was first
Speaker:time I saw Eric Church, he sends his band off
Speaker:stage. I'll never forget it plays a song off his
Speaker:first record, but just by himself, called
Speaker:Lightning. And a light bulb went off for me. And I
Speaker:remember going, I don't know what he's doing, but
Speaker:I have to do that. Like, I have to make people
Speaker:feel like I feel right now. Oh. And that was it
Speaker:for me. That was it. And so that was a moment. And
Speaker:so for that reason, my most memorable concert.
Speaker:>> RB: It's really cool.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's deep.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, all right. And most memorable gift you have
Speaker:received.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, my gosh. Oh, my Lord.
Speaker:>> RB: Because all these guys give songs or, um, that you
Speaker:write songs for. You hit a number one, they give
Speaker:you a gift. What's the most memorable one?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And you're like, wow, man. Um, since we're going
Speaker:rapid fire and we've already kind of touched on
Speaker:it, uh, this thing on my wrist is something that I
Speaker:never dreamed I would have.
Speaker:>> RB: Like two tone Rolex.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. Submariner Sub. I go in Luke's dressing room
Speaker:and in late 2021, and he goes, I got something for
Speaker:you. I appreciate your friendship. I appreciate
Speaker:all the things we've done together. And, uh, I
Speaker:appreciate you being on this tour. And then he
Speaker:pulls out a Rolex box, gives it to me.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's sick.
Speaker:>> RB: That's sick.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. And so, you know, just all the things that
Speaker:he said encompasses, you know, just again, talk
Speaker:touching on what you were saying what kind of guy
Speaker:he is.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: And, um, when I wear this, I remember that not
Speaker:just him, but also just, like, the people that
Speaker:have supported me along the way. It's like a
Speaker:symbol of all that to me. So.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, last question. What are you chasing?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Oh, man.
Speaker:>> RB: And don't say birdies, because that's.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: What do people say that?
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, that's what people think we want them to
Speaker:say.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Give me credit, because I saw past it. I was like,
Speaker:well, I can't.
Speaker:>> RB: We want to know what you're chasing in life.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Joy.
Speaker:>> RB: Um.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Let me say this. There's a difference in happiness
Speaker:and joy. Happiness is like a. If this happens,
Speaker:then I'll be happy. I don't want that. I won't.
Speaker:Every day to find joy in the journey. What's
Speaker:coming. The bad stuff, the good stuff. Find stuff
Speaker:to learn, and the bad stuff, really be able to
Speaker:soak in the good. And I think in all that is what
Speaker:the definition of actual joy is. And so that's
Speaker:what I'm chasing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I love it. I love it. Ray F. Good.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I like that perspective.
Speaker:>> RB: Our dude culture.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Hey, thank y'. All. Appreciate y, boys.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Thank you.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Love y', all, man.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, love you, too. And best of luck in 26. I
Speaker:can't wait to talk about the. That we couldn't
Speaker:talk about today.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Like.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, so that was a song you're working on?
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Hey, all I'm doing is I'm just setting this up for
Speaker:the next pot. Yeah, come on.
Speaker:>> RB: You're. You're not taking it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: We're doing it.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Thank you, boys.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Thank you, man.
Speaker:>> RB: I always love same. Seeing my man payday re.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: Um.
Speaker:>> RB: And he didn't know that he did it. And whenever he
Speaker:did it in the interview, it was hysterical,
Speaker:because it's an ongoing joke with me, you, and
Speaker:Oates of how he says it. And it is hysterical that
Speaker:he did it right then and there. But, um, you talk
Speaker:about taking a chance and working hard, and I
Speaker:think I said it in the interview. The harder you
Speaker:work, the luckier you get. And that might be the
Speaker:truth here. Um, my man's got Luke Combs, Eric
Speaker:Church, all the boys, Cody Johnson. I mean, that's
Speaker:their guy, so to speak. So, um, it's really cool.
Speaker:And it couldn't happen to a better person. That's
Speaker:the thing. Thing, too, is Ray is one of the nicest
Speaker:individuals I have ever met.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: He absolutely is 100%. That. That story with him
Speaker:moving to town and meeting the guy at the gas
Speaker:station, and then Going back to the house with the
Speaker:guy that needs to sleep on the couch and ends up
Speaker:being Luke Combs. I mean, that story can kind of
Speaker:give you chills, you know, especially now that the
Speaker:guy is who he is. But it always amazes me. Me, as
Speaker:I said in that interview, you know, with, with
Speaker:songwriters, m. Uh, in their ability to craft
Speaker:these types of songs that stick and hit and, you
Speaker:know, and, and. And country music's on it right
Speaker:now. There's. There's no two ways about it. Yes,
Speaker:it's awesome, man. So. So payday, Ray, man. You
Speaker:coming on? Chasing birdies, finally. Long time
Speaker:overdue, but I'm sure we'll, uh, get to this
Speaker:course at some point. We'll be giving you 10, and
Speaker:you'll shoot three under. So that's how it works.
Speaker:Um, that's how it works, actually. See, he don't
Speaker:get 10. He probably gets, like, four.
Speaker:>> RB: You know, I brought the golf clubs into the
Speaker:office, which are sitting right over there, and I
Speaker:picked up the irons last night. I'm thinking, you
Speaker:know what? I've had these things for about four
Speaker:and a half years. The grips are worn, and I don't
Speaker:know if I'm just lazy because I'm like, should get
Speaker:new grips. But in my mind, I'm like, why get new
Speaker:grips? Just get new irons.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: There you go.
Speaker:>> RB: So, uh, I think on 2026, the, the January,
Speaker:February, it's gonna be a iron. Um, search for me.
Speaker:I mean, the driver. I love the driver. I love the
Speaker:three wood, the wedges.
Speaker:I got a little insight from someone higher up at
Speaker:Titleist. Um, there's something new coming out in
Speaker:2026. Just heard the other day. Um, so we'll be,
Speaker:you know, fiddling with some new wedges. And, um.
Speaker:But I'm looking at those Titleist irons, bud.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, you just gave me an idea, because this would
Speaker:be year three with my irons, and frankly, I, I. I
Speaker:need to change the grips. But, um, I like my
Speaker:irons, though, so I don't know if I'm gonna go
Speaker:ahead. I'm the same way.
Speaker:>> RB: I don't know. M. But at the same time, it's.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Like, I might do it, though. I might just get a
Speaker:new set. Then who knows? Maybe I'll need two sets
Speaker:just to have one. One, you know?
Speaker:>> RB: Ah, in case you just want to. You don't. They're
Speaker:just in the travel bag. You don't want to pack
Speaker:clubs up. They're ready to go.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I went down and hit balls off the mat. Over this
Speaker:past weekend, you know, and, uh, first time I
Speaker:really touched a golf club since the weekend of my
Speaker:birthday. And it's so funny, dude. It's not even a
Speaker:month. But your rhythm is so awesome. And it's
Speaker:probably a lot to do with me being active in the
Speaker:gym. Muscles getting tighter, not used to certain
Speaker:movements. But golly, man, I'm hitting the balls
Speaker:in the net and they're like, you know, it's like.
Speaker:Feels awful. It's like I'm hitting concrete. But
Speaker:you always get back settled in. I'm gonna try to
Speaker:really work on the, uh, the movement aspect of
Speaker:golf, which is a great segue. Not on purpose, but
Speaker:a guy that we have, uh, prospected to come on the
Speaker:show is into all the fitness and the stretching.
Speaker:He's actually at the Grove down in Nashville,
Speaker:Tennessee. So, uh, trying to line him up right now
Speaker:to come on, because I've always said I wanted
Speaker:someone to come on here and talk a little bit more
Speaker:about the movements in golf. You know, you see so
Speaker:many of these guys, like, if you follow the stable
Speaker:Colby Wayne on Instagram, he's working with guys
Speaker:like Justin Thomas and, uh, uh, other guys, and
Speaker:the movements that they do is not necessarily what
Speaker:the normal person will do. So it's It. It'd be
Speaker:cool to hear that.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: That whole thing.
Speaker:>> RB: You're probably wondering why I have this special
Speaker:little guest right here. I can't say Marie, but I
Speaker:want to say happy birthday to her. She turned six
Speaker:on Monday. Peyton.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Happy birthday.
Speaker:>> RB: Happy birthday, Patey. So, um, another guest we
Speaker:have is Chris Knott.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's right.
Speaker:>> RB: The founder of Peter Millar. Um, and he is now
Speaker:heading up Johnny O. Um, so we have him coming on.
Speaker:It'll be cool to discuss all everything that
Speaker:Johnny O. Is doing. And, um, you know, I mean, the
Speaker:guy literally found Peter Millar.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, so I love it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Things are rolling, dude. Thanksgiving's a week
Speaker:away. Turkey day is a week away, folks.
Speaker:>> RB: Turkey day is a week away, and this little turkey
Speaker:is gonna be six.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And by the way, man, if you guys are looking for a
Speaker:spot, if you. If you people out there don't want
Speaker:to be with family on Thanksgiving, well, then
Speaker:mosey on. Over at Memicolon in Farmington,
Speaker:Pennsylvania, they will have the turkeys done,
Speaker:right? The stuffing, the gravy, the mashed
Speaker:potatoes. Whatever you need will be that Nemecole
Speaker:and. And beyond Thanksgiving, it's always what you
Speaker:need is that Nema Colon. So check out Nema Colon
Speaker:online@nema colon.com don't say NEMA colon. NEMA
Speaker:colon. Five Star all the way around. Come on up.
Speaker:You guys enjoy it? And we, um, do have a little
Speaker:PGA action this weekend. Um, yeah, St. Simmons
Speaker:Island. Sea Island. Uh, seaside course. I forget
Speaker:the other one. St. Simon's Island. The RSM
Speaker:classic, man, kicking off and then we got the hero
Speaker:in December and then nothing after that. But it
Speaker:was a great one.
Speaker:As always with you, Pep today here on Chasing
Speaker:Birdies. Love the listeners. We got listeners
Speaker:right now listening in in in all parts countries
Speaker:of the world based upon our mapping. And it's
Speaker:really cool to hear, to see that one person. You
Speaker:know, Asia's downloaded the podcast, so it's
Speaker:great.
Speaker:>> Ray Fulcher: I love it.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, without further ado, thank you for tuning
Speaker:in. Make sure you go to Chasing Birdies.
