Lord, if it is you, Peter replied, tell me to come to you on the water. Come, he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me. Immediately, Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. You have little faith. He said, why did you doubt?

Matthew 14 verses 28 through 31.

I know sometimes I can be like Peter and I am saying, Lord, if that's you, come to me, show me a sign, show me your hand, show me your face. And oftentimes God is like, just come. My eyes, my arms, my heart is wide open for you, just come.

Many times we don't cry out to God and say, God, are you really there? I need you right now. If you're there, show me it's you.

And when we cry out, the next action we should do is be still and listen. Because when we are crying and lamenting and asking, we often just fill our space, fill our minds with more asking and activity and doing and reading. But sometimes we need to be still and hear the voice of God. And so what did Peter do? As soon as he heard Jesus say, come.

He got off the boat. He didn't wait and say, well, let me wait. Let me make sure that was his voice. And let me verify that I heard him correctly. And I just want to wait. He immediately got out of the boat and walked on water and went toward Jesus. But then things got a little rocky. They got a little shaky. He saw the wind.

and he became afraid. And once he got afraid, he started to sink. When we are commanded to do something by God and we walk in obedience, our eyes should be fixed and focused on him. We should only be looking at him. The wind's gonna come, the storm is gonna come, the enemy's gonna try to knock us off our path, but we need to keep our eyes.

our mind, our heart fixed and focused on Jesus. Because when the wind comes and when the rain comes and we take our eyes off of him, we start sinking. And that sinking represents us going into places of despair or depression or sadness. That's what that sinking represents. So.

When God commands you to go, go and focus only on Him. But if life happens, if your faith is a little bit shaky and you begin to sink, cry out to Him again. Peter said, Lord, save me. And immediately, the key part of verse 31 is the first word, immediately, Jesus reached His hand out and caught Him.

And he said, you of so little faith, why did you doubt? That's what God is saying to us today. And as I am recording this, am speaking to myself because God has called me on a path. God has called me to do something and it's uncomfortable. I feel a little uneasy. I don't know what's going to happen. I don't know.

this path that I'm on, how much longer I'm gonna have to walk. But God led me to this verse because he wanted to remind me that he has called me to come. And he is telling me to keep my eyes fixed on him. And when I feel the wind, when I feel the rain, when I get a little shaky and I feel like I'm gonna sink, he wants me to come back to him.

He wants me to say, Lord, save me. And he is reminding me that when I am starting to sink, my faith is starting to waver. And if my faith is starting to waver, I'm starting to doubt the words that he has given me. I'm starting to doubt the promises that he has given me. And it reminds me of my word that I have chosen for this year.

unshakable faith. Unshakable faith is having the faith even when the winds and the storm in life doesn't seem to make sense. It is continuing to walk in faith to not allow doubt to take you down, to not allow doubt to make you want to sink. So today I want to remind you, don't be afraid. Keep your eyes fixed.

on what God has called you to do, the person he has called you to be, the things that he has called you to focus on. And keep your faith strong. Have unshakable faith.
