Michelle Hartzman:

All right. Have a podcast fam we're back for part two. Uh, I love doing part ones and part twos of podcasts, because it just allows me to dive even deeper with you guys and pour so much into you. So as mentioned in part one today is all about truly standing out on line. And so get your notebooks right. Or if you listen to me, when you're driving, come back, write down your favorite pieces and make sure you go and implement. Here's. One thing I want to pour into you before we dive in in is I really want you to take what you're learning, absorbing, hearing. From this podcast and the things that stick with you that are like, oh, that was a golden nugget. Write it down, write it down and implement. You'll be amazed at what happens by the little actions that you take day to day, week to week and the implementation and how it starts to pay off in your business. So let's dive in. So we all want to stand out online right at the end of the day. We want to be seen. We want to be sought out. We want to have a dream clients flooding in being like, Hey, how can I work with you? How can I give you my money? I love your energy. I magnetized you. There's something about you. I've hired somebody else, but like, girl, I like, and just like in all your things and I can't help, but need to work. We want that. Right. I know you want that. And I know we've dabbled into this conversation and different episodes before, but we're gonna look at this a little bit differently today. Okay. We've talked about being an authority. And we've talked about having your community and ideal clients take you seriously. And I want to take it a step further on standing out because when it comes to standing out, it's really cutting through the noise of everyone. And something I'm sure you've heard. You've maybe even said before is that the online market is saturated. And as I was writing notes for today's episode, I literally have that word saturated in quotation marks. I'm doing air quotes as I'm jogging. I use that term loosely because, well, it's saturated with coaches, entrepreneurs and online business owners and creators. Sure. Yeah. There's a lot of us, right. But it's not full of really good coaches, entrepreneurs, leaders, et cetera. And that's the differentiation. And that's just a fact like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna say the truth here. I know you guys know it. I know you see it. I see it almost every single day. Even people that come into my world having been in other people's things and it's just, you see the shit, you see the shit. Right? And so it's literally just a fact that. People are better than others at their craft and at what they do. And I know if you're here listening, I know if you're building your business, you're wanting to scale. Maybe you've scaled. Maybe you're on your way to 10, 20, 30, 40, 5000 K months, whatever it might be, whatever it might be. You're really good at what you do. I know that if you're here, you're really flipping good at what you do. And now it's just a matter of being seen. And sought out. Right. But what we tend to do when we're wanting to be seen and sought out is we focus on the numbers. We focus on how many followers, how many comments, how many likes and engagement, all that good stuff. Right. And I think it matters to an extent, but that's not, what's going to make you stand out. Like guys, not one person ever hired me because I had 300 likes on a. Like, let's be real. That's not why you're listening to this podcast. Either. You could care less how many people like my things that I post, right. And the same holds true for you. That's not why people are hiring you. And so that's the first thing to be really mindful of when you're saying things like I want to be seen. I want to be sought out. I want to be taken seriously. I want to stand up. Those like the analytics matter to a certain extent, but that's not, what's ultimately going to have you cutting through the noise. So something I always like to think about when I get caught up in that the vanity metrics. Cause it's easy to get caught up in. Let's be real. I would rather be seen as an authority, a leader and amazing coach than be popular any day of the week. I mean, that's just the truth, right. I'd rather be seen as like, holy crap. She's so good at what she flipping does that. She's just popular. And I know who she is. Two different feelings, two different vibes. And at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. And we're focusing on the wrong things. So I want to give you guys just some retrospect of where I was when I started my business. When I started my business, I had under a thousand followers on Instagram. I don't know the exact number. I wish I documented it, but I have no idea what that is. I'm being honest. It was just a personal ad count at the time before I made it into a business account. But that first year I had well under a thousand followers and I had a six figure cash business year, over six figures we made in that first year of business with less than a thousand followers. I want to give you guys another example. One of my former clients, when we worked together, she had under 200 followers under 200 followers and she was consistently making 15 to 20 K cash months as an online health and fitness coach. I want to give you one more example because I know you need to hear. One of my other clients that was in find your fierce. She did not have tons of followers. I think she was probably around the three to 500 range range from my memory with the strategies I'm going to pour into you today. She went from having six people in her group program to 19 women in her group program. And she went from one to two K months to 5k to now eight K plus and beyond months, every single month moving from. And so this is where I want you to start focusing on making your current community and your current audience more profitable. The current people that are watching, because especially the people that are watching your stories, they're warm. And I'm not saying we're not going to do the things to get in front of more people. Yes. Do those things, the hashtags, the reels, the viral content, the carousels, all those little things I just named are like really trending pieces of content. Literally do those things, create those things, create consistent content. That's a way to reach more people on social media and the basic form, basic terms I should say, do those things, do them. But what we also want to look out are the people that are currently in our community and how can we make that more profitable? How is this possible? So number one with this, is it be your. I cannot emphasize this enough. Literally, the more yourself you are, the more people will want to pay you. And the moment that you stop caring and focusing on outside validation to quote unquote, be good enough when I have this, when I do this, when they like this, when they buy this, when it, when more people buy this thing, then I'll be good enough. It's bullshit. It's bullshit. And so this is where we've got to bleep out and get rid of that external validation. We've got to be ourselves, our whole weirdo selves. I'll give you guys a little example on this podcast here, and you guys know this is the real deal I mess up on here. Like, I'm pretty sure if you go back to, I think it's the episode before this, if you listen closely at the end of that episode, you hear Paulo bark in the background. And I was like, freak. We were doing so good for sewed and I heard him bark and I know you can hear it faintly in the. Most people would edit that out. I am just like, that's my life. That's my life. My dog barks. Let's be real. My life is not perfect. I mess up I'm here all the time and we don't edit it out in mounts on purpose, because I want you to see the humanness of entrepreneurship. I want to, I want you to see the humanness of creation, the mess, hubs, the trial, the error. I want you to see it all and get so comfortable with yourself along the way that you can own those things about you and I kid you not. When you do that on social media, your community will love you for it. The people that just find you will be like, this is a breath of fresh air. I just want to stay in her world. And here's the thing. The fact is that the right people will always show up and the right people are already watching you. It's literally the fact and something that I need you to know. So how do we get them to need us and want to pay us? So again, be yourself and this sounds easy to do, but it's actually a lot harder than we might think. So we're going to dive into that. Because let's be real here. It's really easy to go through the motions at the to-dos and rerecord the stories 15 times over to try and make ourselves sound perfect. Be perfect. And what usually happens when we do that last be real. No one reaches out, you guys know what I'm talking about. Like you create the post and you rewrite it like 10 times because you're trying not to insult people, piss people off. You're trying to please everyone. And you're like, oh, I'm gonna edit that line. So these people don't get mad. I don't want to hurt this person's feelings. Really filtering your message, which then is just kind of a NELA type of content energy, right? Because here's the ultimate truth. No one wants perfect. No one wants perfection. If, if you're feeling that like write that down somewhere to remind yourself, because it's not relatable, you being perfect, you portraying perfect is not relatable. And what starts to happen with our community and our so many clients. And the people that are watching is they start to place us on this pedestal of we are above. And well, yeah, authority on leadership. We want to build in our brand and through our marketing, it's not from a place of wanting to be above people. And when we do that, when, when people place us above them, they then put us in this category of, oh, she has that. I can't, and it's not relatable enough for me to reach out and believe that you can help me get. You see that disconnect and at the end of the day, like we just want real and authentic and you, and when it's not real, when it's quote unquote, perfect, I'm doing air quotes again. You can't see me, but when it's perfect, I trust you less. So I want the real you, I want the unfiltered version. If you're somebody that curses, I want you to. If you're somebody that messes up, I want you to keep going. I want you to laugh at yourself. I want you to make us off. If you're funny, be fucking funny. Like I've got a dry sense of humor. I'm not like hysterically funny. I know that you might be laughing as I say that, but I've got like a dry sense of humor. I'm witty. And so we're going to bring that out. We're going to bring that out with our clients. We're going to bring that out in our live trainings and our podcasts on social media. These parts of you that you're hiding from the world. We want that part of you. We're going to connect to that or we're not, and that's fine too. And we're going to leave and that's cool too. And we want you to share what you're going. The tough stuff, the real stuff, the vulnerable stuff, of course, to as much comfortability as your, you want to share, it doesn't need to be oversharing. If you feel like sharing it all and you're super expressive, open, open person, share it all, but you can share as much as you desire to. And the things you're working through recently worked through you're going through. We want to know. I'll give you guys an example, many of you that listen here in this podcast know this. Um, and then that are in my Facebook community as well. I don't really share this on Instagram, just primarily because my sisters and my parents are there and I will never put things out that will affect and maybe hurt other people. Publicly it's it has to be my story and my truth. And so on my podcast, my Facebook community, those are places where I can open up and be more vulnerable because my family and such aren't in those places. And so what I'm about to get to is about to make sense. A good example of this is this past year. My mom got sick. My dad got sick and now my grandfather's sick. It's been a heavy, heavy, heavy year. And I've shared that here briefly on this podcast. And I've shared it mainly in my Facebook community. And I share that openly because this has been a year of mastering the duality of holding space for myself. While holding space for my clients, my business, still growing while, sometimes being a mess behind the scenes and my energy and time needing to go to other things outside of the business. Right. That's real stuff that I've been navigating for the last really six to eight months of this year. And that's real. And that makes me human and me sharing that. What does that do for you in this moment? Shows that one I'm human, but two chances are. You may have experienced and, or are currently experiencing or may experience in the future, really hard stuff outside of business, divorce, separation, IVF, fighting with your significant other's loss. Like there are so many things that we experience on a human level outside of business that I personally think is so important to share because it's, it's really being able to mask. And allow yourself to be so fucking human and real and raw in her and broken while still being a kick-ass CEO and making money because it gets to be both. It gets to be both. And that's like just comes into the belief of not having to be quote unquote high vibe or perfect all the time. Right. And that's relatable. So I'm going to share that. I'm going to share that here. And we put that in my Facebook group. I want to share as much as I feel comfortable sharing on Instagram with those types of things so that you guys, you listen to. I can relate to that, but also see me as a human. We want that from you. We want your real ness, all of it. And I think so often we paint this little picture in our mind of if people see that I mess up or I don't know everything, or that my life is messy or am I messy, or I don't have my shit together. Most of the time, they're not going to take me a serious and they're not going to pay me X amount of. And it's just bullshit. It's literally bullshit. Think about the people that you have hired chances were you hired them because you felt connected to them and you've liked them. And they probably made you feel safe in some way, shape or form, and you definitely trusted them. But it also is because you saw them at a human level that you were somehow related to them in some way, shape or form that therefore you hired. So think about that too. The reason why you hire people and things that they were sharing, the things that they were showing that drew you in. And how can you take that, replicate that and make it your own, of course, and do that same thing with your community. Now, with that, after having done that, the next thing we want to do is be polarizing. And when I say that, what I mean by that in simplest terms is say what you want to say. You have opinions. I know that you. And I know it's really easy to, I don't hurt anyone's feelings and I don't want to like exclude this person from working with me and this person, this person, this person, this person, here's the thing. We're not mentor with everybody. And it's okay if you're not talking to everybody in your content, it's actually a good thing, but we do want to stand for something. And when doing this, this is a really great way to get. Just kind of fitting in and being vanilla and bland. And like, my content is good. I'm posting consistently. That's kind of boring and we're playing it safe. Right. But the truth is playing a safe really. Isn't going to get you to where you want to go at the end of the day. It's not. So take the risk and talk about things that most people aren't willing to talk about. Talk about the things that most people aren't willing to talk about. Some examples, if you think diet. Diet culture is bullshit. Say it literally create so much content on why you hate diet culture. If you think keto sucks, say it. If you don't agree with how people run their businesses or people treat their clients, say it, say the things that matter to you and that you have opinions on. I'll give you guys a prime example of this. And I talk about this often client experience. Is number one in personally, as a business coach, I am so fucking tired of coaches coming to me, telling me how terrible their previous coaching experience was. Nothing against the clients. You guys know that I'm here for you and I support you. And I wish you the best. I want you to have the most epic experience, whether that's with me or with somebody else. But I, it really grinds my gears. Feel like I'm 80. When I say that really grinds my gears. I hear that clients or people have invested thousands of dollars into programs and didn't even get to talk to the coach or didn't even have a conversation with the coach or. It was literally not the program that they thought that it would be, they were sold something, given something else. We see this happen all of the time. Therefore I talk about it because I think it's really important to be in integrity with everything that you do in sell. And if somebody is just willing to pay you, that's nice, but don't just accept them into a program because they're willing to give you their credit card. Make sure they're a good fit. Make sure it works for both parties. That's something I'm just super passionate about. You guys know that and that's polarizing, that's polarizing, that's a stand for something, right? That's those are just a couple of examples. So something I want to give you takeaways from today, and this is where you need your notebook. Some questions. I want you to start asking yourself when it comes to creating content, more polarizing content, cutting through the noise. These are really great questions to ask when creating these types of content. Number one is what do I stand for? Number two is what do I believe to be true? Number three, what am I for? And what am I against? Number four. What do I hate? Number five. What do I love? Number six. If no one was judging me, what would I say or do online? I love that question. Number seven. What keeps me up at night? Like, I just want to shake someone. I need to get this message out. What are the things you guys know? You wake up in the middle of the night and you get like the content ideas. What is the stuff that keeps you up at night? Number eight, whom do I want to help most? And what do they need to hear from. Nine, what do I not like to do 10? Why am I not saying everything that needs to be said? And 11, what is holding me back and how am I going to let this stop holding me back? These questions will create influence. People are going to be like, thank you for fucking saying. I'm here for everything you're putting out. I'm like, holy shit, she's talking about it. I resonate. And then they're like, magnetised and they can't keep coming back and they're sharing and they're sharing your posts and all their stories and tagging you and all this amazing stuff that we all desire is being seen and sought out. And here's the thing you guys have heard me say this before, but I'm gonna say it as we close out today, we aren't here to be carbon copies of one another. We're here. Because each of us teaches in a different way and we all have a unique message to share. So share it in your own way. And lastly not, everyone's going to agree with the things you put out after you answer these questions for yourself. And that's a good thing. Focus on who you want to speak to and literally forget everybody else. That's just the truest, the truest statements, because you're not going to be liked by everyone. So stop trying to be. And really at the end of the day, you want people to either love or hate you. If they kind of like you, it's kind of cool. You have like somebody that likes you and your community, but there's probably nothing that's going to happen there. They either love you or hate you be more yourself than you ever have before. And the more you can be yourself and stand for something. The more, your people will stand with you share your content. You'll be seeing, you'll be sought out. You'll be people's ears will be perked up and they'll be like, thank God somebody saying this, like I'm here for this. So your biggest thing from today is to start implementing this. You can literally start today and then goes down, making all that money. You guys know, last thing I will leave you with. You guys know this podcast, community is everything to me. I love you guys so much, and it makes my heart so happy when you share with me and you guys DM me on Instagram that you're in during the show, you give me feedback. You let me know the topics you want to hear. Never stopped doing that because the more you guys share with me, the more questions you ask, the more I can provide here and give to you guys and support. And lastly, an honor of supporting the show, supporting me if you're loving this podcast, you know, it would mean the world to me. If you screenshot it, it tagged me on the socials and shared this so that this podcast can get into the, the ears, the ears of more incredible women business owners. I love you guys. I will see you in the next episode.
