Speaker BToday we're going to explore the roots of why we seek validation, how it.
Speaker CKeeps us from truly caring for ourselves.
Speaker BAnd how to break free from it.
Speaker BBut we're not going to stop there.
Speaker CWe're also going to talk about radical.
Speaker BSelf care and how empowering affirmations can help you sustain that sense of freedom.
Speaker BThis is all about giving yourself the permission to live boldly without waiting for anyone else's approval.
Speaker BAnd at the end of this episode.
Speaker CI'll also share ten affirmations that you can start using right away to reinforce your journey.
Speaker BSo let's start by getting real about why so many of us are still seeking validation, even after years of life experience.
Speaker BYou'd think by now we'd be done.
Speaker CWith needing approvals of others.
Speaker BBut it shows up in sneaky ways, whether it's how we dress decisions about our careers, or even how we talk to our families.
Speaker BBut here's the thing.
Speaker CValidation often stems from a deeper need, our need to belong.
Speaker CFrom a young age, we've been conditioned.
Speaker BTo measure our worth based on how well we play the roles that are assigned to us.
Speaker BWhether it's as daughters, mothers, or professionals, we're expected to live up to certain standards.
Speaker BAnd so we seek validation to reassure ourselves that we're doing things right.
Speaker BBut here's the when you live for.
Speaker CValidation, you're no longer living for yourself.
Speaker BYou're living for others expectations.
Speaker BNow think about this.
Speaker CHow much of your life is spent.
Speaker BSeeking approval for things that you already know the answer to?
Speaker BI remember when I was thinking about starting this podcast.
Speaker BI had the idea, I had the passion.
Speaker BBut I kept thinking, what will people think?
Speaker BWill they even listen?
Speaker BI kept asking people for advice and validation when I already knew what I wanted to do.
Speaker BIt wasn't until I realized that I was waiting for permission that I took action.
Speaker BAnd I bet many of you have had similar moments.
Speaker BThe more we seek validation externally, the less we trust ourselves.
Speaker BBreaking free from validation isn't just about making bold choices.
Speaker BIt's about healing that inner wound that says I'm not enough as I am.
Speaker BIt's about learning to hear your own.
Speaker CVoice and trusting it again.
Speaker BSo how do we break free from this?
Speaker BThe first step is recognizing where in.
Speaker CYour life you're still seeking validation.
Speaker BI call this the validation detox.
Speaker BTake one area of your life, whether it's work, your relationships, or even a personal goal.
Speaker BAnd this week, make a decision without waiting for someone else's approval.
Speaker CBreaking free from validation isn't just about.
Speaker BLetting go of the external approval.
Speaker BIt's about creating space to focus on what you need.
Speaker BAnd that brings us to radical self care.
Speaker BBecause once you stop living for others.
Speaker CYou have the freedom to take care.
Speaker BOf yourself in ways that truly matter.
Speaker CRadical self care is more than just.
Speaker BSpa days and treating yourself.
Speaker BIt's about taking back your time and your energy.
Speaker CAnd sometimes that means making uncomfortable decisions.
Speaker BLike saying no to things that don't serve you.
Speaker BWhen we've spent years putting others first.
Speaker CIt'S easy to fall into the trap.
Speaker BOf saying yes to everything.
Speaker BWe've been taught that our value is in our productivity or how much we can give to others.
Speaker BBut radical self care is about flipping that narrative.
Speaker BIt's about understanding that your worth isn't tied to what you can do for others.
Speaker BIt's about who you are.
Speaker BLet me share a story with you.
Speaker BI once agreed to help out with a project that I just knew would drain me.
Speaker BIt wasn't aligned with my passion, but I felt obligated.
Speaker BBy the end of it, I was exhausted.
Speaker BI was frustrated.
Speaker BAnd honestly, I was angry at myself for not setting that boundary.
Speaker BThat's when it clicked for me.
Speaker BRadical self care is about reclaiming the time, space, and energy that I deserve.
Speaker BSaying no wasn't just about protecting my schedule.
Speaker BIt was about protecting my spirit.
Speaker BSo I started practicing what I call the compassionate no.
Speaker BIt's saying no without feeling guilty or.
Speaker CNeeding to explain myself.
Speaker BAnd guess what?
Speaker CIt was so liberating.
Speaker BI was able to reclaim time and energy that I could then invest in.
Speaker CThings that actually mattered to me.
Speaker BThink about where you've been giving yourself away.
Speaker BIs it at work where you're taking on tasks that aren't yours?
Speaker BIs it with the family, where you're the go to for everything?
Speaker BAsk yourself, what am I saying yes to?
Speaker BThat's actually a no from me, deep down.
Speaker BSo here's my challenge to you this week.
Speaker CPractice the compassionate no.
Speaker BIdentify one thing that you've been saying yes to, just out of obligation, and respectfully decline.
Speaker CUse that time for something that fills you up instead.
Speaker CRadical self care is about making sure.
Speaker BThat you're not running on empty.
Speaker BIn real life, you can run on empty, and no one will care.
Speaker CThe more you give, the more they'll take.
Speaker BNow that we've let go of validation.
Speaker CAnd we've reclaimed our time for ourselves.
Speaker BThrough radical self care, then how do.
Speaker CWe reinforce these changes so that they stick?
Speaker BThat's where affirmations come in, but not the typical kind.
Speaker CLet's talk about affirmations that go deeper.
Speaker BOnes that truly resonate with the journey that you're on.
Speaker BAffirmations can be powerful, but they have to feel connected to what we're actually going through.
Speaker BI don't know about you, but sometimes the generic affirmations, like, I am enough, feel disconnected from my daily reality.
Speaker BThey're nice, but they don't always address the real struggles that we're dealing with.
Speaker BThat's why I believe that affirmations should.
Speaker CBe personal and specific to your journey.
Speaker BIf you've been working on breaking free from validation, then an affirmation like, I.
Speaker CTrust myself to make the right decisions.
Speaker BIs going to resonate more than I am confident.
Speaker CSee the difference?
Speaker BIt speaks to what you're actually working through.
Speaker BNow, let's go one step further.
Speaker BAffirmations should also evolve with you.
Speaker CAs you grow and change, your affirmations need to reflect the new challenges and.
Speaker BStrengths that come into your life.
Speaker BI call these dynamic affirmations ones that grow alongside you.
Speaker BAffirmations should speak to the part of you that's been doubting, that's been questioning, or playing small.
Speaker BNow here's how to go deeper with your affirmations.
Speaker BOne is to acknowledge the struggle.
Speaker BSo be honest with yourself about where you've been struggling, whether it's self worth, boundaries, or fear of judgment.
Speaker CThen create affirmations that speak to the journey, not just the destination.
Speaker BSo instead of saying, I am confident, try.
Speaker CI am learning to trust my inner.
Speaker BVoice every day, then we want to anchor them with actions.
Speaker BWhen you say an affirmation, tie it to a daily action that reinforces it.
Speaker BFor example, if your affirmation is I honor my boundaries, then make sure to practice that boundary in a real life situation, whether it's at work, with family, or in your personal life.
Speaker COne of the most powerful affirmations that.
Speaker BI've created for myself is I give.
Speaker CMyself permission to take up space.
Speaker BFor a long time, I been shrinking.
Speaker CTo fit into roles or expectations.
Speaker BBut this affirmation reminds me that I don't need to shrink.
Speaker BI'm allowed to expand, to be fully seen, and to live authentically.
Speaker BYour affirmation should feel powerful.
Speaker BIt should resonate in your body when you say it, because it's tied to something real, something you're actively working through.
Speaker CHere are ten affirmations that you can.
Speaker BStart using right away.
Speaker BNow, these affirmations are designed for us women over 50 addressing the real transitions and transformations that we go through.
Speaker BI'm going to run through them really quickly.
Speaker BSo here we go.
Speaker BNumber one is I trust the wisdom of my experience and embrace the decisions I make.
Speaker BSecond, my worth is not defined by what I give to others, but by who I am.
Speaker BI give myself permission to prioritize my happiness and well being.
Speaker BI am learning to say no without guilt and yes to what nourishes me.
Speaker BI release the need for external validation.
Speaker CMy approval is enough.
Speaker BMy voice is powerful, and I trust myself to speak my truth.
Speaker BI honor my boundaries because I deserve respect.
Speaker BI am proud of the woman that I'm becoming and the growth that I continue to make.
Speaker BI am allowed to take up space and to live fully without shrinking every day.
Speaker BI choose to live authentically, unapologetically, and boldly.
Speaker BThese affirmations are just the beginning.
Speaker CFeel free to tweak them to fit your specific needs.
Speaker BAnd remember, affirmations are most powerful when they reflect the truth of your journey.
Speaker BNow here's the deeper challenge for this week.
Speaker BCreate an affirmation that directly addresses something that you've been struggling with.
Speaker BDon't just repeat it, live it.
Speaker BTake one step every day that brings.
Speaker CThat affirmation to life.
Speaker BSo let's bring this all together.
Speaker CBreaking free from validation means reclaiming your power.
Speaker CRadical self care is about prioritizing yourself.
Speaker BUnapologetically, and affirmations are the tools that.
Speaker CHelp reinforce this transformation.
Speaker CHeres your challenge for the week.
Speaker BLet go of the validation in one area of your life.
Speaker CSay no to something that drains you, and choose an affirmation that feels true.
Speaker BTo your journey right now.
