It is that midweek special where we slide in what's happening this week maybe between the shows that, well, we couldn't fit in last weekend or this weekend, and we've got a lot going on today.

[00:00:45] Eric Goranson: First I got a kind of an interesting personal story going on, and I feel so bad for my great neighbors that live next door. Now, I've talked a little bit about it in the past and, uh, great people, but here's what's going on at them. They have a flag lot behind my house, so they've got, you know, a [00:01:00] football field between their water meter and their house.

[00:01:02] Eric Goranson: And of course, with these. 300 year old trees, the water line has broken. So underneath their driveway they've got a water leak. And unfortunately where the driveway is taller than my house, we have water running down the driveway for the last couple months as the insurance companies and everybody else have been hammering out what to do with this.

[00:01:23] Eric Goranson: And it was funny cuz we had a plumbing company in here that was gonna do a directional bore and uh, they were going to bore down the middle of the driveway underneath, you know, and just basically create this little tiny tunnel to pull a pipe through. Well, My concern in this whole deal was, uh, you know, it's on their property, so I don't care for that, that's their deal.

[00:01:42] Eric Goranson: But I had a good feeling that there was no way they were gonna drill through that because, well, there are rocks down there the size of a fiat, if you know what I mean. They are huge, and they weigh more than that. And those little directional boars are great for going through. You know, [00:02:00] smaller rocks in, in soil, if there's a, a big rock on the way, it's meant to push it outta the way versus go through it.

[00:02:06] Eric Goranson: And sure enough, as we were standing out there, they were about 10 feet in here about a month, month and a half ago. They were in there and the, the drill machine was boring. It was going, they were about 10 or 12 feet in that thing, hit a rock and bound up so hard. It launched the fittings out the side of the hydraulic motor.

[00:02:23] Eric Goranson: And of course, that thing was done for the day. Unfortunately, we're still running with water down the driveway and I feel bad for my neighbors cuz you know what their water bill was last month? Yeah. $11,000. Yeah. Think about that for a minute. Hopefully the, uh, our local water department is working with them on that leak because, um, they're having to get a actual drill rig in there, uh, to do a horizontal bore more.

[00:02:53] Eric Goranson: You know what, uh, you would do for a drill on a well, almost, because that thing, they've gotta go in there and do it right with a big semi [00:03:00] truck. And you wonder, why can't you just sit there and get a backhoe, do a, you know, a driveway cut down the middle of it? It's because we got all these big trees and they do not want to disturb the roots of these big, you know, 200, 300, 400 year old, 200 foot tall fur trees.

[00:03:18] Eric Goranson: Because I'm under that complete cover, they're gonna have to sit there and either do that, or the other option was to do that, uh, cut down the middle and then take a vacuum truck in and suck out all of the dirt and rock. And that was gonna be its own problem because they were gonna be roots and large rocks.

[00:03:36] Eric Goranson: And so that's gonna be the issue. Happily, we're not in North Dakota or up in the Midwest where uh, you know, we get hard freezes, so they only have to go down about 18 or 24 inches. So it's not a huge dig. But still it's kind of an issue. Well, today I wanted to talk about, uh, stay tuned for that. I'll keep you updated as things go on.

[00:03:53] Eric Goranson: This could get interesting watching this and, uh, might even throw some video up on around the house show when they get to fix it, which [00:04:00] we're waiting to see when that is. Probably in the next couple weeks, the way the water's coming, it's going to be interesting. So here's what we're gonna do Today, we're gonna talk about some of the Black Friday deals that I'm seeing out.

[00:04:11] Eric Goranson: And there's a lot of 'em. So I thought I'd start out today, just kind of go through the ads and seeing what I'm seeing that seem like good deals for people out there. So let's start out with Home Depot. They've got their Black Friday savings coming on. And of course, like a lot of companies know they're doing like the whole month.

[00:04:28] Eric Goranson: It's like the Black Friday, November three through 23 kind of thing all month. Of course there's always the special buys inside the store that you need to look out for, but this is a great time. If you're looking for power tools, you're looking for appliances. This is where those deals are pretty decent.

[00:04:47] Eric Goranson: You should be looking out for now. Another thing that we're gonna talk about here too is that, uh, sometimes the Home Depot and the lows aren't the best place to buy power tools. So we'll talk a little bit about that. [00:05:00] Cause I have another place that I want you to take a peek at before you go hit that, uh, that buy that you might be doing for, uh, increasing your tool capacity.

[00:05:10] Eric Goranson: So right now I'm looking at the Black Friday savings. You know, of course they've got, uh, Ryobi, they've got a bunch of different stuff up there. They've got a, uh, six tool. Exclusive. Um, drill driver, impact driver. Circular saw, reciprocating saw, multi-tool, l e d, light two batteries. Charger bag 1 99. Not a bad deal for that, for the, uh, RBI one plus.

[00:05:34] Eric Goranson: And then, uh, they have their, uh, 10 inch little chain saw. Or their exclusive 18 volt blower, 2:00 AM power kit, 88 bucks. So not a bad deal there. And there's a lot of different things. You know, you've got your M 18 Milwaukee or your. Atomic, uh, DeWalt packages for, you know, 150 bucks in round. They've got a Maita set.

[00:05:55] Eric Goranson: So there's a lot of different stuff going on there. One of the other great buys sometimes you can take a look at [00:06:00] is, uh, rigid has their shop vacs usually on sale at this point, so there's a thing to take a look at there. But here's one secret with these, and I've gotten burned on this in the past. Make sure that it's not a funky size.

[00:06:12] Eric Goranson: I bought one of those, geez, when was it? I bought that thing. Man, it hadn't have been five or six years ago. And the problem was, is the bags didn't fit in it cuz it was one off size and so it wasn't really that valuable. So be careful of that. But this one at least is there, uh, for 69, 88, at least in my market, they've got a 16 gallon, uh, the nxt we drive back.

[00:06:35] Eric Goranson: Pretty basic though for 69, 88, there are some other good deals to take a look at sometimes that you can get 'em online with a bunch of hoses for not much more. So pay attention there. Now, one of the better buys that I see here, stack of a washer and dryer set, 7 98 each lg. So not a bad deal. And quite frankly, you know, I was on the don't buy LG bandwagon for a long.

[00:06:57] Eric Goranson: and uh, what I have in my house, I've got LG and it's [00:07:00] been doing really well and I'm about, uh, 18 months coming up into two years on this thing, and it has been working really well, so I sure can't complain about that. So if we go down through the list here, there's a lot of other trash things, job site, speakers, you know, little stuff here.

[00:07:16] Eric Goranson: Not some great stuff, but I do see if you need a fiberglass ladder at Home Depot. They got a Warner 44 88 for a six foot step ladder. I've got the exact same one. Heck of a deal. That's a good one right there. As well as you've got a few other little things. They got the, uh, kitty, uh, two pack smoke alarms on there for uh, what, 30 bucks.

[00:07:37] Eric Goranson: So not a bad deal there. Other than that, you kind of go through, they got some decent stuff, but nothing crazy. Out there on those special buys. And so that's kind of where they're at. A lot of holiday stuff, you know, Christmas trees, that kind of stuff. Now if you get in here, um, on the exclusive Home depot.com, they've got a thing here where you can buy a special buy for 5 99.

[00:07:59] Eric Goranson: They've [00:08:00] got get two free select power tools when you buy this kit. So, uh, basically when you buy this kit, hammer drill impact. Multi tool led flashlight, two batteries charger in case for 5 99. Not a bad deal for that. And of course they got a bunch of other different stuff in there, but, uh, they're pretty well set up on that.

[00:08:18] Eric Goranson: Of course, they've got a bunch of the different packout stuff. The, uh, Brad Nailer and the, uh, brushless finish nailer in there for a good deal. And DeWalt has similar stuff. . So you go down through, they've got all these different online tool savings there, and of course you can get a bunch of other stuff in there that you wouldn't think of getting from Home Depot, from luggage to seeds to, to a bunch of other stuff.

[00:08:40] Eric Goranson: So that's not too bad. Uh, they do have 10% off their Husky tool storage, so not bad there. And then they do have some great deals. On their, uh, mechanics tool set. So they've got a 94 piece for 50 bucks, 290 piece for 179 quality stuff. I do like it. Uh, it does hold up [00:09:00] and so take a look down through. That's kind of the main stuff there.

[00:09:03] Eric Goranson: Appliances, they've got a lot of different stuff. Um, I'll be honest, some of their sales on the dishwashers are not amazing and some of these I wouldn't actually buy like a $349 GE dishwasher. Sorry, ge. That's just a little low for me to expect something out of it. Now if you get up into this, uh, Whirlpool for 5 98, that was 8 29, now you're probably talking something a little more durability and a little bit better cleaning function on it.

[00:09:31] Eric Goranson: So take a look. Lots of Samsung, Whirlpool stuff on there. So if you're looking for appliances, lot of great stuff in there. Refrigerator. Killer deals on that stuff. So, uh, even if you're needing that new beer fridge for out in the garage, it's pretty impressive with the sales they have out there. I mean, they got some great stuff.

[00:09:48] Eric Goranson: I mean, you can get in here, a 25.6 cubic foot stainless deal, side by side, Frigidaire refrigerator, ice water in the door for 1198. Not a bad deal for that. Uh, [00:10:00] that's, you know, 300 bucks off. That could save you some money, especially if you're trying to save some money around the house there and, uh, put some stuff.

[00:10:08] Eric Goranson: And the other deal that I saw in here that they had before we go to the next one, they had a, uh, 18 foot reach aluminum multi-position ladder, one of the gorilla ladders that, uh, for 99 bucks that there's a pretty good deal. And this is also a good time to look at, uh, some of those smaller tools that you see out there.

[00:10:25] Eric Goranson: So let's get into Lowe's for a minute. They've got their Black Friday sale thing going. Similar stuff with tools, uh, nothing, um, crazy craftsman stuff, which is kind of exclusive there to, uh, Lowe's versus Home Depot. You've got, uh, some great buys there. And keep in mind guys, that Craftsman brand of drills is no different on the inside than that DeWalt set.

[00:10:49] Eric Goranson: So if you're looking at it, you can get a 20 volt max drill driver set for, uh, 59 bucks. So you can get the [00:11:00] drill for 59. The, uh, impact driver 59. That's a pretty good deal considering right next door for the same tool. It's $99, so pretty impressive. And, uh, side by side tool, pretty much the same thing there.

[00:11:15] Eric Goranson: So, uh, the DeWalt has a little bit more compact, uh, on the brush list there, but, uh, that's the only big difference is brush lists between those two. You can get a killer deal on that stuff. So that is, uh, your basic base. The craftsman is your base model, DeWalt on the inside in almost every single case. So lots of ladder sales.

[00:11:36] Eric Goranson: You know, you've seen a lot of the same stuff here between those two. Uh, uh, ma Taboo, they've got a great. Sales over there. They've got some money off of that. Like they've got a, uh, two tool, 18 volt brushless combo kit for 1 29. That's a steel, cuz that's usually 2 49. That's a good deal. Cobalt stuff, I've never used it, to be honest, the cobalt tools, but uh, for homeowner grade it's gonna be fine.

[00:11:57] Eric Goranson: There's a lot of good stuff in there that's kind of [00:12:00] that, uh, their competitor to rigid. And then, uh, DeWalt is really heavy in the Lowe's ad, so there's a lot. A lot of different stuff there. They've got, um, a lot of different tools and packages there to take a look at. Now, one thing that I see that, uh, they've got smart home deals over there at Lowe's that you don't see over at, uh, home Depot.

[00:12:22] Eric Goranson: So there's a lot more over here. You're seeing a heavy on the ring in the nest and, uh, some other lights and locks and things like that. Um, Google Smart Thermostat, that's cool. To be honest, I wouldn't probably go buy one of those smart thermostats for 89 bucks because if you need one, check your local utility.

[00:12:41] Eric Goranson: You can probably get a better deal getting ahold of your local utility and going that route, because here's why. If you take a peak at that, like my house, I can get one for 25 bucks or some people are sending 'em out free. So that's something to really consider [00:13:00] that could say, send you a. Money on that.

[00:13:04] Eric Goranson: Now here's another little thing here too that's interesting just so you know. You know, I, I have a fair amount of Lutron stuff here in my house. So there's a Black Friday, cyber Monday sales coming up here from November 20th to December 4th. Lutron has their, uh, Cato Wireless Smart Lighting kit will be 20% off at all retailers.

[00:13:25] Eric Goranson: So if you're out there looking for smart lighting, it's a good way. 20% off this stuff doesn't get marked. Done a lot. So you'll find that like Ace, Amazon, apple, best Buy, lows, home Depot, true Value hardware, those kind of places. So that, uh, smart lighting. Lets you control your house, lights through the dimmer switch, plug-in, lamp switches, pico remotes, anywhere else, you know, with a smartphone.

[00:13:46] Eric Goranson: So it's pretty good little deal right there. 20% off on that. Uh, I've got those in my house. They work really well and there's a whole bunch of accessories that go with that. So take a look at that smart lighting kit, like, uh, here at, uh, Lowe's, they have it here [00:14:00] for, uh, 79 95, regular 99. So that's the starter kit with Dimmer Bridge and Remote.

[00:14:05] Eric Goranson: So that's all the little pieces you need to get going. And so that's a great deal there. Uh, you know, toilets, they've got their base model toilets knocked out. Nothing spectacular there. And again, appliances, big deals on appliances and, uh, flooring. They got a smart core matrix flooring, 20% off. So again, another one of those things.

[00:14:25] Eric Goranson: And Lowe's, that's pretty much what they've got there. Now let's talk about tools for a minute, because tools can be a great buy at the home centers. They're trying to get you sucked. But I've also noticed that uh, those tool packages are kind of, I don't wanna say low quality, but they've kind of cheapened them up a little bit for those special buys at the home centers.

[00:14:47] Eric Goranson: So one of my best places I run over to is take a look at Acme Tools. Yeah. Acme. Just kinda like, uh, well, what you'd see in Bugs Bunny. Road runner kind of stuff, but they've got [00:15:00] a ton of stuff over there on their Black Friday stuff, so take a look at it. They've got, uh, lots of free tool, battery stuff, starter kits, that kind of stuff, and you can get some killer deals over there.

[00:15:12] Eric Goranson: Like for instance, they've got a client tools, portable Power Station, 500 Wat battery pack that you can haul around 3 49. They've got a lot of great deals over there, so don't be afraid before you go drop the money there. At the home center to take a look at Acme Tool and those guys aren't paying me to do it.

[00:15:29] Eric Goranson: I have no relationship with 'em, but it's a good deal over there to find the stuff you need. And to be honest, I think it's more trade oriented over there. They've got a lot better stuff cuz you've got all in one spot. You've got DeWalt. You got Milwaukee, Nikita, jet, Honda Ego, lot of the different brands there.

[00:15:47] Eric Goranson: And of course you could get into, uh, Fest Tool, Bo Stitch, you know, soft Stops client, all the different stuff. Mat Taboos, rigid, got a lot of stuff over there. So, uh, take a look. [00:16:00] Those guys have some killer deals and it's something to really take a peek at cuz it could be really, really, Good savings for you, and this is a great time to be packing up those sales.

[00:16:10] Eric Goranson: Now, when it comes over to, uh, getting into some of this other stuff here where you're talking about home electronics, I don't have the best buyout in front of me and I don't trust sometimes those, but if you look at it, man, some of their featured deals they have on TVs, they are given some TVs away, 75 inch Samsung UHD uhd.

[00:16:33] Eric Goranson: 5 79 killer deal. So take a peak over there. They're bumping the TVs out today and uh, you'll see it there and a lot of other stuff too. I mean, those guys aren't just TVs, but laptops, that kind of stuff. You're gonna see a lot of that. One other thing I thought was interesting is they've got save up to 400 bucks on select grills from Trager.

[00:16:55] Eric Goranson: And they've got some other Weber stuff as well. So take a look over there for that. Lots of electronics, [00:17:00] vacuums, that kind of stuff. Appliances, again, are gonna be a really big push over there for Black Friday. So take a peak. Those, that's where all those little, you know, the little battles, go for that on Black Friday Sales.

[00:17:13] Eric Goranson: So take a peak. If you're looking at Home Depot, uh, they've got all your tools. Same with Lowe's, same with Acme. But uh, when you're getting into tv, home entertainment, That's where you can find some stuff. So if we start looking at Black Friday deals over here, um, they're dropping deals over here at, uh, Walmart as well.

[00:17:31] Eric Goranson: Same kind of stuff. Not my place for power tools, but if you're looking for, uh, the home electronics and some of that stuff over there, they've got some great stuff as well. One thing I was taking a look at, I wish I had, wish I had space for, they had a really. For 139 bucks. They had a really cool foosball table that I was like, man, that could fit in my garage if I had a square inch of room.

[00:17:53] Eric Goranson: That's not a bad deal. All right everybody. Well, I gotta get after it here. I got so much to do this week and be in a short week this [00:18:00] Saturday on the show, we've got a ton of stuff. We are not gonna be letting loose. We're gonna be talking about home decorating, uh, getting stuff ready for the holidays, some Christmas light secrets.
