Welcome to Daily Bible Refresh.

My name is Dr.

Brad Miller.

Daily Bible Refresh is brought to you by voiceofgod daily.com we come to you every morning, usually before 6am to give you a daily reading of the Bible and done in a fresh way.

We read the selected verses from the Revised Common Lectionary.

We're in year C, the epiphany season and we like to read the Scripture in a way that is understandable.

And as much as we read the New Testament only and the Message version of the Bible, the Message translation, we make it relatable by offering you a couple of points to ponder, something to think about and applicable only.

We give you an action step, we have a prayer and we do all of that in under 10 minutes.

Now here is our Here is our Bible study.

Here is our Bible reading for the day.

The Gospel of Luke, chapter 4, verses 38 through 44.

Reading for the Message he healed them all.

He left the meeting place and went to Simon's house.

Simon's mother in law was running a high fever and they asked him to do something for her.

He stood over her, told the fever to leave and it left before they knew it.

She was up getting dinner for them when the sun went down.

Everyone who had anyone sick with some ailment or or another brought them to him and one by one he placed his hands on them and healed them.

Demons left in droves, screaming Son of God, you're the Son of God.

But he shut them up, refusing to let them speak because they knew too much, knew him to be the Messiah.

He left the next day for open country, but the crowds went looking and when they found them clung to him so he couldn't go on.

He told them, don't you realize that there are yet other villages where I have to tell the message of God's kingdom, that this is the work God sent me to do.

Meanwhile, he continued preaching in the meeting places of Galilee.

Story here in this passage of Scripture at Healing Healing as a collective liberation of the people that Jesus encountered, where it really reveals some deeper truths about collective well being.

Here's a few points to ponder.

Health Care as a Human Right Jesus freely offered healing ministry which often challenges our own system in our own world, which is often driven by health care systems and insurance.

He never charges fees, checks, insurance or turns anyone away.

And Christianity recognizes that health care access is a fundamental human right and really sees working for universal healthcare as sacred activism.

There's also a point about holistic liberation.

This Bible text links physical healing with a freedom from demons.

Did you notice that?

And it represents various forms of oppression.

This suggests that true healing must address both individual and systematic illness.

And we really have to understand it's hard to separate.

We really can't separate bodily physical health from social, economic and environmental justice justice.

Then there's sustainable activism.

Jesus's withdrawal for rest despite the urgent needs teaches us about sustainable justice work.

Progressive activism must balance immediate response to crisis with long term movement building and personal renewal.

Burnout is not a badge of honor.

Here's your action step for the day.

Create a community health circle that is gathered together, whether it's in person or virtually a map or a resource of health care access in your community, in the hospitals, the clinics, the mental health facilities, things of that nature and identify barriers financial, physical, cultural, linguistic that are there and connect somehow another.

Or find some ways to connect the local health justice organizations led by affected communities and choose one concrete action, maybe advocating in some form or another for funding or organizing some relief of medical debt and support healing practices for all people Foreign we're going to pray in a moment, but I did want you to know about our resource that we offer to our to our voiceofGod.com folks, our daily Bible Refresh listeners.

Oh Divine God, we live in a world where healing is too often a commodity for profit rather than a right for all.

Give us courage to challenge systems that turn suffering into business opportunities.

Show us how to create communities where everyone's health matters for no one is denied care and where healing flows freely.

When we're exhausted from the work, remind us that rest too is resistance.

Guide us in building sustainable movements for collective liberation and healing.

May we be agents of your healing presence both in crisis and in daily life.
