>> Speaker A: Hey guys, this is Patty Maroon and you're listening to Chasing
Speaker:Birdies.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Chasing. You guys tuning in today.
Speaker:We appreciate it very much and I hope you
Speaker:guys had a blessed Thanksgiving. We're one
Speaker:week past that now and we're tuning in today here
Speaker:for a new episode. My man.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, new episode. I'm really excited for
Speaker:it. As as always,
Speaker:today is brought to you by Red
Speaker:Vanley. Make sure you go check them
Speaker:out@redvamily.com I
Speaker:know Christmas is only three weeks away, so
Speaker:make sure you go over there and buy some
Speaker:goodies for your loved ones that
Speaker:may have put on a few pounds or lost
Speaker:a few pounds. Um, they're stretchy and they're perfect for
Speaker:you. So, um, I've been kind of living in
Speaker:these cords. I know that you mentioned it previously, but
Speaker:they're comfortable, so.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. By the way, I was wearing them and my sister is in
Speaker:fashion and I'm telling her about these and she's
Speaker:like, they're velour. That's a velour. Corduroy.
Speaker:That's a velour. And I says, well I thought they were
Speaker:corduroys, so I don't know what the difference is, but that's what they are, people.
Speaker:And they're excellent. So definitely they're
Speaker:excellent. Check that out on Red Vanley. And
Speaker:you know, dude, it's funny because you mentioned Christmas three weeks
Speaker:away. I remember June 25th being here and I
Speaker:go, six months from now it'll be Christmas.
Speaker:And that seems like yesterday.
Speaker:>> RB: Mhm.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean when you, when you throw in summer
Speaker:vacation, summer golf, broken member
Speaker:guests, all that shit that goes on. And
Speaker:then next thing you know, it's like we've arrived and here we are
Speaker:and it's great. And bowl season's kicking off,
Speaker:um, which by the way, for you people out there tuning
Speaker:into sports this past weekend, Thanksgiving Day,
Speaker:obviously, I mean the debacle that
Speaker:took place in Detroit with the, with the
Speaker:Chicago Bears mismanaging the clock, obviously the man
Speaker:lost his job over that. Um, but
Speaker:the Bears still covered the spread in that game. And then
Speaker:the night game with the packers playing the Dolphins.
Speaker:Dolphins cannot win in cold weather, period.
Speaker:And the NFL race is shaping up, dude. I
Speaker:mean, you know the
Speaker:nfc, you got the Lions
Speaker:that are just ripping people apart. And
Speaker:the Eagles are starting to get hot, bud. The Eagles starting to get hot.
Speaker:AFC is wide open.
Speaker:>> RB: I really like the Lions, I really
Speaker:do. Problem is, whenever you get into,
Speaker:um,
Speaker:playoffs, you know, it gets a little
Speaker:tight, gets a little tense. You know, people change a Little bit.
Speaker:It's like playing golf with a lead. Right. Uh, you start doing
Speaker:some things that you wouldn't normally do.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And they bite you in the butt, and you end up losing. And there you go.
Speaker:And then the person that's always there just kind of made it into the
Speaker:playoffs. Chips away at it.
Speaker:That is the Chiefs, um,
Speaker:run away with it. Oh, yeah, because they've been there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And that Black Friday game, I mean, another game they should
Speaker:have lost, clearly. I mean, granted, the guy had to
Speaker:kick a field goal to win, but the point being is they didn't get a chance to kick
Speaker:the field goal because of the bad snap. And it's. That's
Speaker:like three times this year where these Chiefs. And
Speaker:do you feel like the refs.
Speaker:>> RB: Are kind of holding out a little bit?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I don't know. But it's. It's. It's interesting. You know, it's
Speaker:kind of interesting how it all shapes up.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, um, the Steelers,
Speaker:they came, they bounced back after the
Speaker:Browns debacle. Um, they put
Speaker:on a show against the Bengals, but it was a little
Speaker:tighter than expected when you scored 44
Speaker:points. Um, maybe the defense wants to show up every once in
Speaker:a while.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, defense, you know, I don't like the
Speaker:fact, but the point is, too, Cincinnati has a pretty good
Speaker:offense, but, yeah, it's given up 38 still. Thank God we
Speaker:had that defensive touchdown. But no, Russ was cooking,
Speaker:baby.
Speaker:>> RB: He was cooking. And so it's a big one on Sunday against
Speaker:the Browns again.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Again.
Speaker:>> RB: So, um, you know, the Browns have a short week.
Speaker:This is where the Steelers have to take advantage of this and put them away,
Speaker:boys.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And then Saturday, two days from now, you know, a lot of
Speaker:the conference games in college, you know, you
Speaker:know, Big 12, the ACC, the
Speaker:SEC, Oregon to.
Speaker:>> RB: Absolutely. Boat race.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Penn State, Big 10. Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I want that to be a debacle.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, you know, if you recall, earlier in the season, Penn State
Speaker:snuck by usc, headed to the West Coast.
Speaker:They were losing that game for a while, and then they came back and
Speaker:won. And they're moving out back west now, or
Speaker:I don't know where they're playing this, the championship game, but I gotta
Speaker:imagine it's somewhere at a neutral site.
Speaker:But regardless, they're playing that team on the west
Speaker:Coast, Oregon Ducks. And I feel like Oregon. Oregon
Speaker:is just there. People don't realize how good their defense actually is to,
Speaker:you know.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. And how about Oregon's Bo Nix? He's having a hell of a
Speaker:year for rookie year. Um,
Speaker:you know, is he Going to be Rookie of the Year for the NFL.
Speaker:He's proven himself, and I know it started off
Speaker:a little rough for him, and,
Speaker:um, what's his
Speaker:name?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Sean Payton.
Speaker:>> RB: Sean Payton, Yeah. I mean, how could I forget?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, how could you, um, forget that?
Speaker:>> RB: But, you know, I think that Sean Payton
Speaker:kind of corralled the troops a little bit, and he's
Speaker:pretty good at doing that, so.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And then the Mountaineers fired Neil Brown, which,
Speaker:obviously, Neil was a great guy, um, served
Speaker:the Morgantown community here for the last six years.
Speaker:But he gone, and I wish him the best, and
Speaker:hopefully this new coach that we get, you
Speaker:know, takes the reins a little bit and gets us back into contention. What I heard,
Speaker:funny, I heard on the McAfee show, he. Bill
Speaker:Belichick said something about. Hey, let me talk to you about
Speaker:that. Let me talk to you about that.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, another question for you, Another name that, um, I'm going to throw out there
Speaker:is Nick, uh,
Speaker:Saban. You know, I don't think that
Speaker:he is going to be a coach, but, hey, who's to say that he doesn't get
Speaker:involved in some solacity.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Consulting, uh, with the team or something for West Virginia.
Speaker:He said that he wants to get them back on the map, so.
Speaker:I don't know. Jimbo, uh, Fisher. I know that's a name that's
Speaker:being thrown around. Jimbo Fisher would have to give up his contract
Speaker:of $70 million that he's being paid. He's not going to do that for
Speaker:two years to help you out. Sorry, bud. Like, he's
Speaker:enjoying feeding the cows. It's fine.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's right. Yep. Angus. Black Angus.
Speaker:So all kind of good things happening right now into this weekend,
Speaker:guys, and.
Speaker:>> RB: For, uh, you know, for us
Speaker:personally, we are one month away from our.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: First golf trip, 20,
Speaker:25.
Speaker:>> RB: So, yeah, um, we come out slinging right
Speaker:out of the gates the first week in January, so we're really excited
Speaker:for that one. Um, and, yeah,
Speaker:man, we got a cool guest today. Yeah, fun
Speaker:guest.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Three times Stanley cup champ, Big rig.
Speaker:Joining us here on Chasing Birdies, Patty Maroon take
Speaker:some time out of his schedule playing for the Chicago Blackhawks
Speaker:now, but has had a hell
Speaker:of a career on the ice, and,
Speaker:uh, obviously loves to chase
Speaker:birdies, bogeys, pars, all the above.
Speaker:So the episode was fun, and I think it's
Speaker:just time that we, uh, we quit talking, bud,
Speaker:and we start talking with a guest. What do you say?
Speaker:>> RB: I love it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You smoke?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Sorry.
Speaker:>> RB: I'm smoking.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Morning cigar.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: All right.
Speaker:>> RB: Morning cigar. Buddy, roll it on over to the big
Speaker:rig.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Patty Maroon, it's not too
Speaker:often you're joined by a three time cup winner here on
Speaker:Chasing Birdies, but today we are. Patty Maroon just
Speaker:walked off the ice. He's sitting down with me and Pep right now.
Speaker:We're having a little one on one discussion with the man.
Speaker:Thanks for coming on the show today.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, thanks for having me, boys. Really looking forward to it.
Speaker:>> RB: It's a long time coming, I'm telling you. I was in this group chat with you and
Speaker:Flurry trying to hammer this down. You're a busy guy
Speaker:and I understand that. I respect it.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, I nice. I'm like flir. Sometimes
Speaker:my cell phone, I don't get back to people.
Speaker:>> RB: He's terrible.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: He's awful. Uh, he's one of the worst.
Speaker:>> RB: The worst. But when he needs something, he picks it up real
Speaker:quick.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: As I've gotten older, I've gotten worse in that situation of
Speaker:like, you. You read it and then you
Speaker:forget the text. You know, you read a
Speaker:text, you're like, all right, I gotta respond. And then you think about it and then you
Speaker:just like, forget about it. And then.
Speaker:Yeah. Um, usually I'm not bad with getting back to people, but
Speaker:I've been. I don't know, maybe I'm getting older. Old age.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No.
Speaker:>> RB: Chicago will do that to you too sometimes, right?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, that's true.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I think we're all guilty of that, though. I mean,
Speaker:because especially if you're in multiple group chats
Speaker:and then you get some. One off text from just some
Speaker:randos and you got to get back to them, but then it's like,
Speaker:you know, whatever.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No, for sure, but I don't think. No,
Speaker:that was. That was on me. I. We
Speaker:had this plan since last
Speaker:year probably.
Speaker:>> RB: That's all right.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's all good, though.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: We finally got it done.
Speaker:>> RB: We got it done.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So what's going on, man, in Chicago,
Speaker:the big chi town? I mean, that's got to be a fun
Speaker:vibe.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, it is. It's been great. We. We love the city of
Speaker:Chicago. I'm from St. Louis originally, so it's nice to be close
Speaker:to home families in town. You know, family gets
Speaker:to come up a lot. Her family gets to come up a lot.
Speaker:Um, it's just been one of those, uh, you
Speaker:know, it's a great city. Uh, we live in Lincoln park
Speaker:there, so it's been.
Speaker:>> RB: That's awesome.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Been excellent. Um, you know, we get to walk everywhere. I mean,
Speaker:it's a little cold right now. So cold.
Speaker:Um, but no, it's good. Obviously,
Speaker:hockey part. I wish we were winning more, but, you know, hopefully
Speaker:we can get on a roll here and get buzz in here. But,
Speaker:um, everything's been great about the organization,
Speaker:the city, you know, the players on the team. It's been great
Speaker:vibe. It's just the winning aspect of it. We gotta get.
Speaker:We gotta get our. Our in gear here and get
Speaker:some. Get some wins here, so. But it's. The vibe's been
Speaker:great. Um, I love everything about it. I love the
Speaker:city and the organization. The setup's great.
Speaker:>> RB: Two of the most underrated things about Chicago. Well, one,
Speaker:not so underrated, but the food scene's incredible.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: In Chicago. It's amazing.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It's amazing golf.
Speaker:>> RB: There is so much good golf in Chicago that I don't think people
Speaker:realize.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, there's a lot of golf. You know what's crazy, but you have
Speaker:to drive about an hour in
Speaker:traffic, so the time, you
Speaker:know, that's true. So,
Speaker:um. But, yeah, there's a ton of good golf courses
Speaker:here. Um, I got the
Speaker:opportunity to play a couple courses here, so it's been.
Speaker:It's been good. You know, we. We tend to try to, you
Speaker:know, play right before season starts a lot. Right. Right
Speaker:before camp opens up. Um, and
Speaker:then now, you know, it just.
Speaker:>> RB: It's over.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, Over.
Speaker:>> RB: So that's why playing in Tampa was the
Speaker:ideal situation for you. You know, obviously,
Speaker:you're winning cups. Life was great. But also,
Speaker:you know, how many organizations can you play for that you
Speaker:go to the rink and then go play nine holes if you
Speaker:want, in the afternoon or whatever?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No, for sure. I think that was great for us because you
Speaker:had an opportunity to do both. Um, and there's a lot
Speaker:of good golf courses in Tampa. You're kind
Speaker:of. You're kind of right in the middle, too. So you can get to anywhere fast.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:>> RB: Everything's 30 minutes in Tampa. I don't care what anybody says. It doesn't
Speaker:matter how close or how far. It's 30 minutes.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, everything's about 30 minutes. So it's been
Speaker:good. Like, you know, that when. When I played there, we
Speaker:had an opportunity. I was a member
Speaker:of two courses. Um, any
Speaker:day off, I got an opportunity to go play.
Speaker:Um, you know, it's just. It's a different vibe.
Speaker:Uh, you know, you can get kind of reset, get away from the game
Speaker:a little bit. Go play. Go hit the skinnies and
Speaker:just kind of just chill.
Speaker:>> RB: So are you still a Pelican?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Okay.
Speaker:So we just had a buddy Join. Like, a couple months
Speaker:ago, um, Ryan almost got us
Speaker:kicked out of there a couple, couple months ago,
Speaker:um, for changing his shoes in the parking lot.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, give me a break. Like, I just
Speaker:put the shoes on in the parking lot, but I didn't see the sign there that
Speaker:said, uh, right next to me, don't change shoes in the parking lot.
Speaker:But then I asked the dude, I'm like, yo, can I, Am I
Speaker:allowed to change shoes in a parking lot? I already did it though, by the way. I, uh,
Speaker:was already done. And he's like, we prefer you do it in a locker room. And I was like,
Speaker:well, I already did it, so whatever. And then they're busting my
Speaker:balls. I'm like, listen, we.
Speaker:>> RB: That place is awesome.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: You guys like it?
Speaker:>> RB: I love the place. The layout,
Speaker:everything is good. I love the caddies were.
Speaker:Everything was great. The food, everything.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, it's a great course. I love the
Speaker:staff there. Uh, Mr. Doyle did a great
Speaker:job of, you know, going in there and reamping
Speaker:that course and bringing the right people.
Speaker:And, um, you know, when he asked, it was
Speaker:kind of a no brainer for me to go and join. And
Speaker:his family takes good care of me. Um, you
Speaker:know, the staff there is great. The caddies are awesome. And
Speaker:that course is so well kept.
Speaker:It's crazy.
Speaker:>> RB: It's like Augusta national mini.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Like, you guys saw the hurricanes come
Speaker:through, obviously, Florida,
Speaker:this, this, uh, this
Speaker:summer. Well, I guess,
Speaker:yeah, September, whatever. But dude,
Speaker:that course was flooded and they had it meant two
Speaker:days later. Yeah, I was like, how is that even possible?
Speaker:Like, they, uh, do a really good job. I
Speaker:know that for a fact. Um, and
Speaker:they, those greens are some of the best greens.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I can roll on ever. And, um,
Speaker:um, yeah, I mean, I love it. It's
Speaker:just nice because it's obviously walking
Speaker:only. Um, it's nice to kind of just
Speaker:walk and kind of chill. Like sometimes when you get in a golf
Speaker:cart, you're rushing everywhere, you're driving your partner
Speaker:everywhere, or, yeah, he's driving you everywhere if you're not
Speaker:having a good day. So it's just like, it's nice to walk and kind of
Speaker:just chill, have a drink and,
Speaker:um, you know, and you can't really lose a ball there.
Speaker:No, that's kind of nice too.
Speaker:>> RB: And the squirrels, they're huge.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, they're massive.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, the one almost attacked. Beat cats.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Beat cats. Our buddy was running in circles.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Now he's the member. But
Speaker:how about that one? Now he's the member. Dude, but the
Speaker:sand, right? It's like the same sand as Augusta.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And when I was told that, I was like, well, shit, I'm gonna try to hit in a
Speaker:bunker. Like, I'm just gonna try to fill with this hands, like, for.
Speaker:>> RB: You know.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I mean, it's awesome. Like, it's a course you
Speaker:can score on for sure, but it's also a course that can get you
Speaker:in trouble. Um.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, you ask Flurry, though, he says it's easy. Like, everything's easy for
Speaker:him, but he never breaks 80.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: God, that guy.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Own worst enemy on the golf course, Flurry.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I mean, he, uh. I watched him ring off back
Speaker:to back. 68,
Speaker:69.
Speaker:Um. Pretty impressive stuff. I mean, he can.
Speaker:He can just hit the ball so far.
Speaker:>> RB: Oh, it's insane.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, this iron game's great.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, we were in, uh, We. We went to Ireland with him
Speaker:and. Are you telling the three wood story?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, no, you can tell him the three wood story, but I would just thought about
Speaker:that. Go ahead.
Speaker:>> RB: The other story, we were in Ireland with him and Vince, uh,
Speaker:Trocheck, and we played, uh,
Speaker:Royal county down this one par five
Speaker:12 straight into the win or
Speaker:no, straight downwind. And I thought I hit a pretty good one, and
Speaker:he hit this low three wood. It was like 50 yards
Speaker:by me. Ah,
Speaker:he absolutely smoked this thing.
Speaker:And so with his little shitty grin that he had.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: So giddy about everything.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Flurries was.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Then he puts a chew in.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: And he drinks three beers and pukes.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But, um, Fleurs was getting hit on, though, in the
Speaker:lobby bar.
Speaker:We were. We were popping some Guinness, and he was getting
Speaker:hit on by this dude.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No way.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And it was so uncomfortable. I actually will send
Speaker:you the picture. It's so, uh, you guys, the picture of him just
Speaker:sitting there feeling totally, like,
Speaker:attacked by this cat. And basically, the guy
Speaker:wanted to know if he was a boxer. He wanted to know if he
Speaker:boxed flurries like the. Are
Speaker:you talking about? And then he started asking more
Speaker:questions, and we're like, all right, we gotta get out.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: We gotta get out of here.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, well, you play with, um. Our buddy just
Speaker:played with Connor Cruz. He said he was a great
Speaker:dude.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Talking awesome. He's the best. He's one of
Speaker:the best. I get an opportunity to play with him quite a bit out
Speaker:there. Um, went to some
Speaker:concerts with them. He's the man. Dude. That guy's
Speaker:awesome. We played in our. Because me and
Speaker:Fls were just a funny story.
Speaker:Main FL were playing in the one, uh, day member
Speaker:Guest. It was right after the season. I invited him, and Connor
Speaker:was in our crew, in our group,
Speaker:and another guy. And
Speaker:so I'm like, hey, do you know who we're playing with? He's like, yeah. I was like,
Speaker:that's Tom Cruise's kid. Yada, yada, yada. The
Speaker:drinks, the drinks start flowing and
Speaker:not even hole three into it, he's
Speaker:like, hey, so your dad's Tom Cruise?
Speaker:I'm like, flirts. Come on, man. That guy probably doesn't want
Speaker:to talk. He just wants to come out here and he just wants to be normal.
Speaker:Like play golf. No, but he opened
Speaker:up to us pretty well. It was a good day. Like, that's, that's
Speaker:when we hit it off. Because he knew we liked to drink
Speaker:a little bit. He was drinking a little bit. We were having fun.
Speaker:None of us had a good day that day. But, you know, we had fun on the
Speaker:course, uh, with each other and just
Speaker:crushing. So we, uh. That was just so
Speaker:funny to me. He just right into it. He had no care in the
Speaker:world. He just went right into it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: So I understand. I understand you've played Muirfield Village
Speaker:and something, uh, with the caddy there.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, it was pretty bad.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You almost snap him.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Well, listen, the course was great.
Speaker:It was in great condition. Uh, they just kind of treat us
Speaker:like, Listen, I know we have a bunch of hockey
Speaker:guys coming in. Um, my thing
Speaker:is, don't tell guys you can come on and then treat, treat them
Speaker:like right.
Speaker:>> RB: That's.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: That's fair, that's fair, that's fair. So, like, if you
Speaker:really don't want us out there and you feel like the numbers don't want us out there, then
Speaker:don't, don't have us come. Uh, we were lucky
Speaker:enough. Um,
Speaker:Rossovic, that plays in Carolina now, and, uh, Jared
Speaker:Bull, oh, Bowlsy
Speaker:Bullseye, uh, Play is a member there.
Speaker:So Corey Perry knew him, so he, they,
Speaker:Those guys helped us out a little bit. And
Speaker:Fuller and Roswell said we can use their clubs.
Speaker:So, um, we get there
Speaker:and we're teed off at
Speaker:4:00.
Speaker:Um, we grab lunch. We get there pretty early. Then we
Speaker:start hitting balls with their rental clubs. They only give us one
Speaker:rental clubs for, um,
Speaker:I think three, four sums.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: What?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Um, so one, One bag of cart.
Speaker:A group. Um,
Speaker:we were kind of asking, hey, can we get more? Is there any
Speaker:way they're. Yeah, yeah, whatever. So
Speaker:after we kind of hit, we go down to
Speaker:where we pick up the golf carts and
Speaker:we go to the guy who's like, hey, Roswick
Speaker:and Bowler so we can use their clubs. Like,
Speaker:no, no, they didn't. They just shut it down. I'm
Speaker:like, all right, whatever. And par's like, no,
Speaker:they did. So we're like. And I went over there. I was like, hey. They did like.
Speaker:Like, you're not using them. And par. Like, here's the text
Speaker:here. Here it is right here. Get my
Speaker:clubs. And they're like, no.
Speaker:So whatever.
Speaker:It's like 3:15. And we're kind of just sitting there.
Speaker:We're teeing off at 4 and nothing.
Speaker:There's no one in front of us. There's not one
Speaker:person has teed off in, like, 15 minutes. Now 15
Speaker:minutes goes by, we're like, hey, we. I go into the.
Speaker:In the clubhouse, and I was like, hey, can we tee off like, your tea times
Speaker:at 4? I was like, there's no one coming.
Speaker:Like, there's. We haven't seen one person in
Speaker:literally 25 minutes. Like,
Speaker:you're telling me your tea times are probably spread out by Every, what,
Speaker:12 minutes?
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: My guess is. So I was like, we haven't seen anyone. Like,
Speaker:no, no, there's another guy coming right now. He's supposed to
Speaker:tee off. Nothing. The
Speaker:caddy's like, the one cad. He goes, he's not even here.
Speaker:He's not even showing up today. So we go to the clubhouse. He's like, the
Speaker:caddy's like, you're not. They're not coming today.
Speaker:Like, he still might come. I'm like, just let
Speaker:us go. Like, we're not bad golfers. All these guys can hit.
Speaker:Like, yeah, if. If they want to play in front of us when they get out
Speaker:there, by all means, go.
Speaker:>> RB: You could have had four holes done by now.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Well, we could have had. We. There was no one in front of us the
Speaker:entire. Yeah, like, we could have had,
Speaker:I mean, at least four.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Um, and then we have our caddy, we get our beers,
Speaker:and then our caddies second
Speaker:hole grabs, just goes
Speaker:right behind her, cart grabs a beer, opens, and starts
Speaker:drinking. I'm like, what the fuck is going on?
Speaker:Like, this can't be real life. Like,
Speaker:I was like, there's no way this is real life right now. Like,
Speaker:I'm looking at everyone. I'm like, are you guys seeing this?
Speaker:And then, like, he kept doing it. I'm like, what is
Speaker:going on? Like, I get
Speaker:it. Like, he's like, I love Bowler. Like, he's my guy. And I'm
Speaker:like, all right, whatever. Maybe they do it together. But like,
Speaker:yeah, but we're not even.
Speaker:>> RB: Allowed to use his clubs now. You're drinking our beers.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, no, no. Yeah, that too. And then
Speaker:randomly. Was it the second hole or the
Speaker:third hole? I might. I think it might have been the second hole,
Speaker:too. He grabs my. He grabs someone's driver
Speaker:rental club and just tees off, hits a ball,
Speaker:and I'm like, what is going on?
Speaker:Like, this is like, uh, this. Like,
Speaker:I've never seen this done before.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's so weird. That, like.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And he was like, so, like, listen, he was a
Speaker:great guy. He was like. But he was, like, cocky. He's like, oh,
Speaker:you trying to fit in with you guys, you gotta do that. You got, like,
Speaker:telling us what to do. And, like. And everyone's like,
Speaker:like, all right. Like, shut up. Like, we just want to come, um, golf. Give.
Speaker:If you want to give us a read, give us a read. Whatever.
Speaker:Like, no one really cares. Like, guys
Speaker:were asking for a read. And then we're on
Speaker:that downhill par
Speaker:three over the water. Um,
Speaker:12. 12. Is that 12?
Speaker:>> RB: Um, yeah, there's 12 yet. 12 and 16 are the ones
Speaker:with water.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: The one that's downhill. And he's like, uh,
Speaker:oh, you guys stink. He's just kept chirping us. And
Speaker:I'm like, all right, good. I want to see you hit the ball again.
Speaker:Now I'm pissed. Now I'm like, screw you, dude.
Speaker:Like, get up and hit it. He shanks one so
Speaker:far, right? Doesn't barely make it. 60
Speaker:yards, goes in the water. He's like, give me another
Speaker:ball. Same thing. I'm like, stop chirping
Speaker:us. Like, you're just as bad. Like, yeah,
Speaker:we're just. Literally, it's our day off. We're just trying to hang
Speaker:out and play some golf.
Speaker:>> RB: And so far, it's been miserable.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It was the worst experience. The food was
Speaker:great.
Speaker:>> RB: Milkshake.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Milkshake. Yeah. Uh, they were great. The food was great. But, like,
Speaker:the service and they kind of, like, you could tell, like, they didn't
Speaker:want us there. They put us at the last tea time possible.
Speaker:And, um, you can just tell, like, the
Speaker:caddies probably didn't want to go because they had. Probably had to do another,
Speaker:right? So, like, it was just kind of
Speaker:shitty in that part. But I'm
Speaker:sure that's a one off for us. That's probably, like, a one off.
Speaker:That's one thing.
Speaker:>> RB: I think that, too. You. You go. You can flip the script
Speaker:on that one, right? I'm sure you've been over to Grove 23
Speaker:being in Tampa, that's
Speaker:the opposite. There, they make you feel like you're a member,
Speaker:and whatever you need, they do. What. I mean, it's
Speaker:just. It's such a cool vibe. And, you know, you
Speaker:got. You can wear gym shorts and a T shirt there,
Speaker:and you want to tee off whenever, go.
Speaker:Uh, it's just. I think that's the way golf's going is just
Speaker:like, let us do what we want.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No, I agree.
Speaker:>> RB: Within reason.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But I mean, to their point, like, it's not like they
Speaker:were teeing off on a Saturday at 11 in the
Speaker:morning. I mean, we're talking. They had a 4 o'clock tee time and no one was
Speaker:around. Like, come on, you got to give some
Speaker:leniency.
Speaker:>> RB: But like he said, if you don't want us there, then that's fine.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Just tell us that or just say.
Speaker:>> RB: Don'T waste our time.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, they love Whiz. They love Wiz Newski.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, they do, huh? Uh.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: But we. And Flourish and Headman played double Eagle
Speaker:the next day, um, after
Speaker:practice. That was.
Speaker:>> RB: That's a good one. I heard that's a really.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Caddy. Uh,
Speaker:he was everything. He was a caddy. Like, maintenance guy.
Speaker:Like, he's been there for years. He was like. I think
Speaker:he was 80 years old. And, like,
Speaker:this guy was awesome. Like, we.
Speaker:He was the best. Like, we. The first
Speaker:hole or second hole, we're
Speaker:on the greens and, like,
Speaker:without even hesitation, he's like, it's
Speaker:uphill
Speaker:110% left to right. Was.
Speaker:Didn't even look, and it was like, bang on.
Speaker:Like, he knew. Like, it was, like, instant.
Speaker:And I was just like, this is unreal. Like, Flourish is like,
Speaker:dude, he's even looked. And I was like, well, that's
Speaker:a guy that's probably been there for 40 plus
Speaker:years. Like, I don't think he needs to. He could
Speaker:probably walk and feel where it's. Where he is, where it's
Speaker:at. And, like. And like, he was doing that all day, and
Speaker:his reads were just unreal. So I was just like, this is
Speaker:unbelievable.
Speaker:>> RB: Like, yeah, Completely different experience for you.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Completely different. People are so friendly. So
Speaker:nice. Take your time. Play as many holes you want.
Speaker:We are the only people out there.
Speaker:>> RB: Pine Valley, which you got on your hat right now, that. That experience
Speaker:is out of this world now. Ryan's never. Ryan's been there, but he's been
Speaker:rained out twice.
Speaker:Um, I've gotten to experience it, and
Speaker:that is awesome.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, that's a great spot. Um, we.
Speaker:Yeah, my. A friend of mine,
Speaker:my trainer at my gym in St. Louis.
Speaker:Um. Uh, these people
Speaker:I met, they're an older couple. And,
Speaker:um, the gentleman John that took
Speaker:us, um, he's a member there, and
Speaker:he always asks. He's like, you should. You should. I
Speaker:play golf with him in the summer. And he's like, if you had the
Speaker:time, like, come to Pine Valley. And I kind of just
Speaker:brush it off. Like, you don't really want to call people and be, okay, take me
Speaker:to Pine Valley.
Speaker:Um, so Stammer had his
Speaker:500,000 game, and I just shot
Speaker:him a text. He's like, hey, is there any way you can help me out?
Speaker:Um, it's obviously a long shot for you,
Speaker:but if you can
Speaker:donate around a golf with
Speaker:Steven Stamko. She's like, without hesitation.
Speaker:He's like, absolutely. And it was just like,
Speaker:all right. And then he comes back with, I got another guy, so
Speaker:now we can bring up to six guest. So I was
Speaker:like, oh, damn.
Speaker:>> RB: So now the planes. And now. Now that you're taking
Speaker:a plane.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Now we're. Yeah, now the planes, and now the wheels are
Speaker:moving. Now everyone's heads are moving. And I looked at
Speaker:Stammer. I was like, listen, like, you don't have to
Speaker:take me, because I'm doing this.
Speaker:Like, pick your guys that, like, have been
Speaker:with you for, you know, the majority
Speaker:of the time. And,
Speaker:uh. And then I got a text. He's like, you're
Speaker:coming, right? And I was like, I don't know yet.
Speaker:Um, because I. John, text me that. Because I
Speaker:was like, I don't know yet, because Stammer's kind of picking the thing. He's
Speaker:like, well, I'd love for you to come. So I was like, all right.
Speaker:So I'm, like, banking on Stammer to invite me, and
Speaker:obviously, he ended up inviting me because. But
Speaker:it was a good time. Like, that experience was great.
Speaker:Um, we had some good stories, man.
Speaker:We. We were pretty. The first day was awesome.
Speaker:Played and then got, uh, a little drunk,
Speaker:smoking, had dinner. Then we set out back,
Speaker:smoked some cigars. And Brad Faxon was there.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes. And, um, he's got
Speaker:some stories.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: We. Yeah, we, uh. John
Speaker:wasn't too happy the next morning because he left,
Speaker:but m. Once he
Speaker:found out we were with Brad, he was like, all right, maybe that's fine.
Speaker:But it was, like, pitch black. And we go to
Speaker:18, and we bring that. He makes all the
Speaker:workers bring the golf carts and to shine them on
Speaker:18. And we're all doing a putt off for, like, 100 bucks, me
Speaker:and him. I would. I have a sweet video of me.
Speaker:>> RB: And him at Pine Valley. Yeah, that's
Speaker:pretty sick. I don't think.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Too many people lessons, and,
Speaker:uh, obviously, we weren't being obnoxious. We were just having
Speaker:fun, playing. Playing a little putt off, and then he
Speaker:was giving us all lessons, and then, uh, me and him
Speaker:had a. A putt off, and,
Speaker:um, I made it. Then he came back and made it. But
Speaker:it was great. Uh, we had a good time. I mean, the
Speaker:course is great. Hard walk, though, walking through
Speaker:sand like that.
Speaker:>> RB: Dude, it's so hard.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It's tough.
Speaker:>> RB: And, I mean, I'm not trained at
Speaker:all, so, um, that's really a hard walk
Speaker:there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I just remember. The only thing I remember vividly is the pro shop.
Speaker:Being small, it's tight,
Speaker:relatively speaking, to what you would think,
Speaker:right?
Speaker:>> RB: It's very small.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But I can't comment on the course.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, it is. It's awesome.
Speaker:Like, the showers, the locker room. It's so cool there.
Speaker:Uh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. I just. It's just. I feel like they haven't changed things
Speaker:since it's been built, so maybe one.
Speaker:>> RB: Day we'll get you out there, Bash.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Hey, you know what? Uh, third time's a charm. Fourth time's a
Speaker:charm, whatever it is. You know? But you just set it up.
Speaker:I'll be right there. Just holler.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I've. So all that in one year. I
Speaker:played Augusta and Pine Valley.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You got Augusta?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: What was that like? Did m. You take
Speaker:photos, like, every hole?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Ah, so. You're not supposed to. It's like, Pine Valley.
Speaker:You can't have your phone.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: So once you do.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Sometimes the.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: When we, uh, we were lucky enough. That's actually a pretty
Speaker:funny story, Mr.
Speaker:Um. Doyle, the owner of Pelican,
Speaker:which is a big sponsor for the Lightning,
Speaker:he's a member there. And we were playing
Speaker:one day with, um. It was me, Alex,
Speaker:Corn, his son Danny, and
Speaker:him, and
Speaker:I was drinking a couple High Noons, and I was like,
Speaker:at once. I was like, Mr. Doyle, uh, how's
Speaker:Augusta? He's like, oh, it's beautiful. Like, it's great.
Speaker:And kind of just like, randomly just go,
Speaker:when are you gonna take me? He goes, whatever you
Speaker:want. And then we're on our way home, and
Speaker:Killer's like, man, do you think he'll really take us? I'm like,
Speaker:I have no idea. But I just. He's like,
Speaker:why'd you just ask him that? I was like, uh, who cares? What's he gonna say
Speaker:no, right?
Speaker:>> RB: You're in the same position.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: We're in the same position. Like, what? He's. If
Speaker:he's obviously playing golf with us, he likes us. Like,
Speaker:we're athletes. Like, he doesn't have to talk business. Like,
Speaker:we're just kind of hanging out. Like, he's like, man, that would
Speaker:be cool. So we're in Philly,
Speaker:and we were kind of all texting, a group chat before, but
Speaker:we didn't think it was going to fall off because he's like, give us some.
Speaker:He goes, give us some dates.
Speaker:And we gave him the dates of our
Speaker:long All Star break. And I was like, oh, uh, whatever.
Speaker:Maybe it's not going to work. It is. Whatever. And,
Speaker:uh. But we were so, like, grateful at that time anyways,
Speaker:of this. Him acknowledging it. Yeah, we didn't think he
Speaker:would acknowledge it. Um,
Speaker:but that's the kind of person he is. He's just so nice, and the family's
Speaker:just so nice. And I get a
Speaker:call in Philly,
Speaker:and, um, I go,
Speaker:hey, Mr. Doyzak. Everything's, uh,
Speaker:booked for Augusta. I was like, really?
Speaker:Yeah. I was like, so we're. He's like, we'll
Speaker:leave Sunday morning. We'll go play
Speaker:18, wake up Monday. Play 18, play par three,
Speaker:fly home. I was like, all right. I was like, how do I fly there? Like,
Speaker:how. What. What.
Speaker:>> RB: Like, what airline?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: What airline? Like, where do I fly into? He's like, I guess you don't
Speaker:like flying private. I said, yep. All right. Got
Speaker:it.
Speaker:>> RB: Got it.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And then, like, he sent us, like, a
Speaker:itinerary sheet of, like, what
Speaker:you can and can't do, what to wear and all this stuff, and
Speaker:it was just. It was beautiful. Like,
Speaker:very, um, grateful of him and what he's done for me,
Speaker:you know, and the opportunity for him
Speaker:to take me. It was like, you know, that's like one in the
Speaker:Stanley cup to me. Like that.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, that's definitely
Speaker:both, uh, in one year.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But what's one thing about
Speaker:Augusta that you thought differently going into
Speaker:it? That after playing it, you know, is it a hole?
Speaker:Is it, like. What's one thing that you realized when you were there
Speaker:playing it that might be different than what spectators see on TV?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: 16. It's not a
Speaker:downhill shot, really?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Level.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Level.
Speaker:>> RB: Wow.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: A lot of wind.
Speaker:I mean, we played in February,
Speaker:and it was perfect.
Speaker:>> RB: Probably there, too.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And the first day was. It rained on us
Speaker:heavily until about we got to 10,
Speaker:it kind of stopped. Uh, it was
Speaker:windy, but it just
Speaker:seems like if there's like a divot or
Speaker:like an acorn. The green in the fairway,
Speaker:you see, it's like someone like comes out of the woods and grabs it
Speaker:fixes like, perfect. And
Speaker:like, um, it
Speaker:was great. Like, we were the only.
Speaker:There's another group out there from New Zealand. The prime
Speaker:minister and his three
Speaker:buddies. They came over. I think they were trying to play like
Speaker:300 plus holes before they went home.
Speaker:And they were going out there. I think they were
Speaker:going out there to play, finish the rest,
Speaker:and then they were leaving. So it was just us out there. It was
Speaker:awesome. Like, no worries. Like,
Speaker:just had fun. But go back to your
Speaker:pictures. We couldn't leave. Our phone had to be in
Speaker:the. In the room.
Speaker:Only the member can use his phone.
Speaker:>> RB: And that's interesting.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That is kind of cool, though.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: That is cool. So he's the one that took pictures.
Speaker:>> RB: That's awesome.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: He took a ton of videos, a ton of pictures. It
Speaker:was awesome.
Speaker:>> RB: Like, because they're probably like, listen, these members are, uh, the guests are going to
Speaker:hold up, play. If there is a lot of play.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, they're going to be taking pictures.
Speaker:>> RB: Keep it rolling. The members going to be here again.
Speaker:Let him do it.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And the grandstands were going up when we were there because it was
Speaker:February, so it was pretty
Speaker:cool.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I got to imagine, uh, teeing off on the first tee. Like, the
Speaker:bubble guts start going a little bit. Like you're sitting there and you're
Speaker:feeling something. You know, it's like
Speaker:not quite game seven feeling maybe, but something
Speaker:similar to that where you're just like your teen off. First
Speaker:hole.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No, it was bubble guts for sure. I was like, don't this up.
Speaker:Uh, like, don't shank this. Because the club
Speaker:pro was out there, his son or a
Speaker:college kid that was playing with him that day or
Speaker:something, or he just finished, but it was
Speaker:raining and everyone's just kind of sitting around.
Speaker:You're like, the nerves hit.
Speaker:Thank God I put one right down the middle. Because
Speaker:we go up to the first tee and like, only one
Speaker:shot, and I'm like, oh,
Speaker:man. We don't get. We don't get two shots if I
Speaker:mess this up.
Speaker:>> RB: No breakfast bowl, huh?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No, uh, but it was great. Like, we.
Speaker:We loved it. Like, I mean, it was just beautiful
Speaker:out there. Like, everything about it, the.
Speaker:The people, like, we like
Speaker:legit. We were. There's probably.
Speaker:There's another gentleman, old gentleman that was just having dinner. He doesn't
Speaker:play golf anymore. He had like his whole family there just at
Speaker:dinner. We saw them and then the prime minister, then us, and,
Speaker:like, we were the only ones. Kind of walk around
Speaker:the dining room and, like, you go to
Speaker:the bar area, there's like a worker that pops out of nowhere. I'm
Speaker:like, you guys have like a ton of workers for maybe
Speaker:15 people here. So, like, it was just nuts to me.
Speaker:Like, we're going everywhere, but he got that. We got
Speaker:the opportunity to go have a drink up in the Crow's Nest. That was
Speaker:sweet.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Damn.
Speaker:>> RB: I hear their wine selection there is like,
Speaker:all world.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, it is all world. They took us down there. It was
Speaker:sweet, like, everything. Like,
Speaker:the bottles to, you
Speaker:know, the whiskey to, you
Speaker:know, they got literally everything.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, we're, we're, um, we're going down the pelican
Speaker:January 3rd to the 5th for a little trip. And,
Speaker:uh, there's, I think, six of us going.
Speaker:And, um, four of the guys never ate a burns before.
Speaker:So we're were indulging in that Friday night, which.
Speaker:I love that place. Yeah, their wine
Speaker:selections. Out of this world.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It is out of this world. Where you get you guys staying in the Villas at
Speaker:Pelican.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, BCATS Villas.
Speaker:The BCATS condo over in Clearwater.
Speaker:But I might talk it into, uh, letting us get
Speaker:us a place over there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, the issue is we're all, like, close
Speaker:to 40 years old, you know, and we
Speaker:have routines. Like, me, I gotta have my routine in the
Speaker:morning. You know, I have my coffee, run
Speaker:to the bathroom, whatever I do, whatever.
Speaker:You know, take a shower, scrub it up a little bit, and get
Speaker:moving. But, uh, some people might not be like that, and so
Speaker:we're a little concerned about that. So BCATS is definitely listening
Speaker:right now, and he's definitely gonna say something to Pep and I about
Speaker:this, and it's a conversation that we'll have next week. Bk
Speaker:but, um, going back to the Augusta
Speaker:thing real quick, we always have that discussion, like, hey,
Speaker:what would you pay?
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: If you got a call today that said, hey, you can go
Speaker:play Augusta, and you know, you've
Speaker:already played it, so it me, I'm saying
Speaker:25k. I'm in right now.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Pep.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. Yeah. I like that number.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, it's. It's a. Listen to the stories that he just said.
Speaker:It's. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for
Speaker:gophers.
Speaker:>> RB: I got the opportunity to play Sage Valley, which, if you
Speaker:haven't done. Have you done Sage Valley?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No.
Speaker:>> RB: We can make that happen in end
Speaker:of April, early May. We can plan something. You bring
Speaker:some Guys down. We'll make it happen. But,
Speaker:um, got to do it. And the caddies
Speaker:there do Augusta and
Speaker:Sage, and, um, it was awesome. Just hearing some of
Speaker:the stories that I'm telling about Augusta and how similar
Speaker:Sage is to Augusta. Um.
Speaker:But, man, what a vibe down there. It's incredible.
Speaker:And that's the best thing about it. It's just golf, dude. It's all
Speaker:golf. And you're drinking good drinks and
Speaker:good food, and it's like, the ultimate experience for a
Speaker:golfer. Either one. I'm assuming Augusta is the same
Speaker:way.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, it was just. The experience was great. Everyone's just so
Speaker:friendly, so nice. I think, too, like, you
Speaker:just. You go to a place like that, and everyone's kind of.
Speaker:And all. A little bit. You're just kind of staring. So I just, you know,
Speaker:I just caught myself, uh, staring in the space
Speaker:someday. Like, I was just like. I'm really doing
Speaker:that even in the dining room. I'm just, like, looking around. Like,
Speaker:you know, people are talking. I'm probably not listening, because I'm just,
Speaker:like, looking so, like,
Speaker:you get a place like that, and it's
Speaker:just, you know, it's remarkable
Speaker:because, you know, it's like I said, it's like a Stanley cup for me, going
Speaker:to a place like that and fortunate to be able
Speaker:to do it.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, fortunately, you have three of those.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, I know.
Speaker:>> RB: Which, I mean, talk about that. I mean,
Speaker:you played for your hometown team, St. Louis Blues, win a Stanley
Speaker:cup, which they were struggling there for a little bit. Uh, they
Speaker:win a Cup, and then you get.
Speaker:Did you get traded or did you sign and.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I signed as a free agent.
Speaker:>> RB: And then you win two Cups, and then you almost had a chance at the fourth in a
Speaker:row. That's insane.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It was insane. Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, tiring, too, huh?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Uh, yeah, it was great. Um, obviously,
Speaker:St. Louis was fun. I got to go back home, play,
Speaker:kind, um, of be a part of my son, you know, because,
Speaker:you know, I've gone during the year. He lives in St. Louis, and
Speaker:he's playing hockey on a school, so it was an opportunity for
Speaker:me to go home and be a part with him.
Speaker:And didn't start off great.
Speaker:Um, you know, dead last in
Speaker:January, and then somehow get
Speaker:out of the funk and win
Speaker:11 straight games. And we're kind of buzzing. We're flowing. And
Speaker:then, you know, it just kind of took the turns, you
Speaker:know, and, uh, we just. We felt
Speaker:it. We. We felt great. Going to the playoffs, we were the hottest
Speaker:team. Going to the playoffs, we Feel like we can beat anyone. Um,
Speaker:we got the third seed playing Winnipeg.
Speaker:Um, you know, beat those
Speaker:guys, and we go into Dallas, you
Speaker:know, win game seven. Um, we were
Speaker:down three, two, going to their place for game
Speaker:six. Um, you know, win a
Speaker:barn burner in game seven. Two. One hockey game. But
Speaker:we just had that swagger, that confidence that we knew,
Speaker:like, if we make a mistake, the next man's
Speaker:going to pick you up.
Speaker:>> RB: That's all. Yeah, that's.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And it's just like, you knew if, like, a defenseman made a
Speaker:mistake, Bennington was going to pick you up. And
Speaker:we just had that vibe, that swagger that, you
Speaker:know, we didn't have in the beginning of the year. We weren't, you know,
Speaker:we didn't have any All Stars. I mean, Ryan O'Reilly had a
Speaker:great year. Shannon Teresenko, I
Speaker:mean, we had some good players, but we didn't have, like, the
Speaker:elites. The best of the best, right, that you would call, like,
Speaker:a cooch or McKinnon or McDavid or dry
Speaker:seidel or, you know, Patrick Kane taste.
Speaker:Guys that can, like, take over games. Like, we had guys that just play the
Speaker:simple way, played the right way. Um,
Speaker:you know, they cared for the team. And we just
Speaker:got. We just got rolling. We are big and heavy. We're
Speaker:strong in your face type of team.
Speaker:Um, and we just steamrolled kind of, you know,
Speaker:we. Conference finals.
Speaker:The Blues have been there a lot of times, so it was
Speaker:like, is this the Blues year? Are they going to get over the
Speaker:hump? Like, are they going to just lose another conference finals in the
Speaker:San Jose Sharks or, you know,
Speaker:and, you know, that hand pass goal.
Speaker:Now San Jose is up 2:1 in the series.
Speaker:And I still remember Berubi came in and goes,
Speaker:boys, don't even comment in the media. It. Who
Speaker:cares? I mean, everyone makes mistakes. They made a mistake.
Speaker:We know it. Nothing we can do. Tomorrow's a new day. Wake
Speaker:up and we'll get them. Game four. And we
Speaker:won three straight. And it was just,
Speaker:uh. Now we're off to the finals and we're playing an elite
Speaker:team, Boston. Good team. And,
Speaker:uh, it was a back and forth, you know,
Speaker:win one, win one, win one, win one, win one, win one. And
Speaker:then we finally took that one. We were on the ropes
Speaker:in game seven, by all means, the first 12 minutes.
Speaker:But, um, it was.
Speaker:Bennington was great.
Speaker:>> RB: What a. What a.
Speaker:You know, you growing up as a hockey player and
Speaker:it's. Bash and I were obviously
Speaker:golf fans and all that, but and
Speaker:we'll never have a major championship. But what's that
Speaker:relief for you whenever you get the hoist that
Speaker:trophy and finally, just like, is it just. You
Speaker:just excel and just enjoy it?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Huh?
Speaker:>> RB: Huh?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, you do. I think the coolest part is,
Speaker:like, watching the older guys that
Speaker:never won before, just like Jay
Speaker:Bomeester and Alex Steen, like, guys that played,
Speaker:you know, 20 years in the league that's grinded that this
Speaker:is, you know, this is what they wanted.
Speaker:Um, and to watch them lift that
Speaker:cup over their head was just like, Jesus Christ. Like,
Speaker:this is why you play the game right here, to watch these
Speaker:guys. And, you know, I. I wish everyone can have
Speaker:that feeling in the NHL, and unfortunately, not everyone has that
Speaker:feeling, but I think it's one of the best feelings
Speaker:in the world when you get an opportunity, someone passes that cup to
Speaker:you, and you just lift it up and you skate around, you're
Speaker:like. You just kind of. Like you said, you kind of take a
Speaker:deep breath, you take it all in. You're like, this is why
Speaker:we play the game right here.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, Brett hall celebrated like he was on the team, too. So.
Speaker:Yeah, but
Speaker:then you. I mean, again, you go, what a run. Then you go to
Speaker:Tampa. You win two in a row. There had an opportunity for
Speaker:three in a row with Tampa, and it's just,
Speaker:um. Again, you look back on your career, and it's just.
Speaker:You won three Stanley Cups in a row. Like, what in the hell?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, it was crazy. Like, you know, when we won the
Speaker:one in the bubble, I was like, two in a
Speaker:row didn't really sink in, but I was,
Speaker:like, happy. I was like, this is
Speaker:awesome. Like, these guys, for me, it was
Speaker:like, again, it goes back to
Speaker:watching these guys, like, in 2019,
Speaker:a team that had the most wins
Speaker:before Boston, or they tied for the most
Speaker:wins before Boston just broke it. But they get swept by
Speaker:a Columbus team, they're deflated. Are
Speaker:they blowing up the team? What are they going to do? Media is
Speaker:all over them. And then, you know, we
Speaker:go into the year, we get, you know,
Speaker:myself. And then we traded for Barkley,
Speaker:Goodreau, Coleman, all these guys that
Speaker:just. Yeah, they needed to kind of
Speaker:get over the hump and to watch them
Speaker:win it, like, had been in stammer that been
Speaker:there for so long. Yeah, it was like, a sign of relief for
Speaker:these guys because they've been so close. You know, they
Speaker:Stanley cup appearance, you know, they've been to multiple conference
Speaker:finals. They were there. And again, it
Speaker:goes back to like, why we play the game, to see guys like
Speaker:that, that been with one organization to get an opportunity
Speaker:to do that. And, um, I think
Speaker:it was cool because we. We won that year.
Speaker:And we go back and it's. Coop
Speaker:had a cool little saying
Speaker:when we started training camp. This is our last day of school
Speaker:together. So he brought that model into us.
Speaker:He's like, this is our last day of school. Like, no one's gonna be
Speaker:a lot of guys. A lot of you guys aren't gonna be here next year. Free
Speaker:agents, like, guys are gonna sign. He's like, this is
Speaker:our last day of school. And I thought that was cool. He's like, we
Speaker:have another opportunity to do what Pittsburgh did. People
Speaker:are going to take us out of this. You guys won because it
Speaker:was in the bubble.
Speaker:Bubble. He's like, this is our time, whatever.
Speaker:Obviously, the short season, but still we. We came.
Speaker:We won in end of October,
Speaker:and we. No, we won in September,
Speaker:and we were already playing Camp
Speaker:Christmas. So, like, it was a quick
Speaker:turnaround. Was, uh.
Speaker:>> RB: What was the first, uh, thing you did with the
Speaker:cup when you first won it? What was. When you got that? Your
Speaker:cup with the day? What'd you do?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Oh, man. What didn't I do? Uh,
Speaker:I mean, I did everything.
Speaker:>> RB: Drank a million beers out of it.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Drink a million beers. By the end of it, though, like, it's
Speaker:with anything, um,
Speaker:you kind of want to just get rid of it because, like, you're holding
Speaker:it. People want to take pictures with you. It's like,
Speaker:it can kind of get exhausting.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Um. You know, I think the best part for
Speaker:me is just being there with family and friends in the beginning
Speaker:and.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Getting to enjoy that and, like, drinking out of it and having, um, fun with
Speaker:that part. Because once you get. Once it gets into a
Speaker:big party, then it's just, like, it's over.
Speaker:It's over because then it's like, cousins,
Speaker:friends, more cousins, aunts, uncles.
Speaker:>> RB: You know, people you didn't know that know you.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. And, uh, I think.
Speaker:But I. I love the second time around. I kind of did
Speaker:it right the first time. You don't really know. You know,
Speaker:I took it to my uncle's roller hockey rink. I took it to her
Speaker:family's restaurant, took it out to my
Speaker:buddy's farm. Um, it was awesome. It was a great
Speaker:time, but you learn and you learn.
Speaker:And, uh, the second time was better. You just
Speaker:went to the hotel. We rented this place in the hotels.
Speaker:We did, like, a morning brunch, hung
Speaker:out, uh, family Came close, friends
Speaker:came. And then we took, kind of took the bus around to my
Speaker:hometown. Took it to every bar. It
Speaker:was great. Like, I got to see, you know, kids I went to
Speaker:high school with.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. You know, like, look at me now.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, it was fun. Um, you know, I
Speaker:took it to my grandparents graves so
Speaker:like, you get, you. You kind of learn your second time
Speaker:around. And then I just drew like a. I had like a wedding venue at
Speaker:us through like a huge party.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, that's awesome.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It was perfect. We had a live band, you know, dance
Speaker:floor, dj. So. And that's more.
Speaker:It's. It's better that way because then you can put the cup
Speaker:down and guys can, you know, go
Speaker:over and touch it. And it was great though because the
Speaker:blues guys were in town because I did in early
Speaker:September, so everyone was back in town.
Speaker:Um, Wayne Gretzky showed up, so that was cool.
Speaker:Um, a couple of Tampa guys were there. McDonough
Speaker:Bogosian John Cooper showed up.
Speaker:But yeah, Kelly Chase, I mean,
Speaker:Chaser.
Speaker:>> RB: Had a time, huh, huh? Yeah, he was at everyone's Stanley cup
Speaker:party probably.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It was funny because the cup has a curfew,
Speaker:right? And
Speaker:Phil was like, hey, Pat, you know, it's 12,
Speaker:like it's got to go. I was like, hey, like
Speaker:Wayne's showing up. He's like, really? I was like,
Speaker:yeah. It's like, do you mind? He's like, absolutely. This thing can
Speaker:stay as long as it wants. I was like,
Speaker:perfect. But
Speaker:at that time at 12, everyone was kind of dying down
Speaker:a little bit.
Speaker:>> RB: So like people were getting out.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: People were getting out and uh, Wayne
Speaker:shows up. It was fun. Like, that's awesome. Stay till about
Speaker:2:30.
Speaker:>> RB: So freaking drink a couple with Wayno.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And yeah, it was awesome. So like, I was lucky
Speaker:enough. Even the night before, Phil texted me. He's like, hey,
Speaker:I'm in town early. I know you're staying at the
Speaker:Ritz. Um, doesn't have
Speaker:the cup. He's like, yeah, let's just bring it down to
Speaker:the lobby and have a couple drinks. Is it perfect? So I
Speaker:got to see it that night before too and kind of just, just me,
Speaker:my, myself and my wife just kind of hanging out.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Myself so sick.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: So that was um, it was cool.
Speaker:I mean, like I said though, like when you win,
Speaker:I think the best part is being with your teammates at that
Speaker:time. You know, drinking out of it, having fun, you
Speaker:know, partying with it in the cities, running around the
Speaker:cities, taking everywhere because you want to see like the
Speaker:fans faces when they see nothing. Like,
Speaker:so it's. It was cool.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: The third time winning it, uh, you probably were like, hey, bud, you know what?
Speaker:I did this. I did it two years in a row. Why don't you
Speaker:guys touch it a little bit? I did it before.
Speaker:That's really impressive. The fact that it could have been four is
Speaker:just.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. I don't think there's too many people. Three Stanley
Speaker:Cups, Pine Valley and Augusta National.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, Patty is just on a roll.
Speaker:>> RB: He's living boys.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. I was living my best life there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You get into the mix a little bit with some roller hockey.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Is it like, beer league, or are you, like, legit, like, crushing
Speaker:people?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Um, I used.
Speaker:Like, before I. We moved
Speaker:to Tampa. Like, my uncle runs a roller hockey
Speaker:rink. All Americans. My best
Speaker:friend's dad owns the building, and I grew up with
Speaker:them. Um, and I lived at that rink, and
Speaker:I would go play men's league if I was living in St. Louis. Yeah,
Speaker:that's more like beer league. Like, you're with your
Speaker:buddies.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Or you're with your old teammates that played before
Speaker:Triple A. Guys that have their own team. Uh, but I
Speaker:do play nationals. Like, it's called the
Speaker:pro division. Uh, they put, like, 20
Speaker:grand up for it. And, uh, it's
Speaker:like, these guys that play roller hockey, for them, it's just
Speaker:like, you know, it's like they're Stanley cup, like.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Pride. Enjoy. Guys have jobs, you know.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, that's what I like.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: They, you know, but this is. This is how they keep their
Speaker:competitiveness. Like, guys that used to play or, you
Speaker:know, only played roller hockey or played ice before,
Speaker:but, you know, been bounced around, but retired, but they want
Speaker:to still compete and get that competitive edge.
Speaker:So, um, the pro division is excellent. It's a
Speaker:lot of guys that just play roller hockey that only know. And
Speaker:it's. It's fast, it's skilled. These. These guys
Speaker:are so good. Um, but I grew up
Speaker:playing it. That's all I knew when I was young. I just loved
Speaker:it. And I, uh, still love it. I think it's a
Speaker:great sport. I think it's good for. For your
Speaker:hands, your. Your vision, everything about it,
Speaker:patience about the game. I
Speaker:enjoy. That kind of translates over to ice hockey.
Speaker:So, um, I really like the sport
Speaker:a lot. I think, uh, you know, obviously,
Speaker:sometimes it can get a bad rep from other people, but
Speaker:I think it's so good for people.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Yeah. And I mean, it
Speaker:transcribed, like, everything you
Speaker:do on the ice has some, in some
Speaker:way is parallels to your Golf swing
Speaker:shit.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I agree. Your slap shot.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Just look at Hayden. Look how he slaps
Speaker:it.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, I know.
Speaker:>> RB: Putt work shit, though.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Uh, yeah, I wish.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I need to figure out my game. My game sucks. But, you
Speaker:know, there's one thing I do do. I
Speaker:compete. I don't give up, man. I'm always in
Speaker:it somehow, so I love it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Right.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: That's a grinder out there, people. Hayden hates
Speaker:it sometimes because he's like, I don't know how the hell you do it. Your swing
Speaker:is terrible. You barely hit the ball
Speaker:245 yards.
Speaker:Um, but, yeah, it's just like, I
Speaker:just grind. I just go out there and grind and, you know, I try
Speaker:to make my pars or bogeys and kind of walk away from it,
Speaker:like, make the odd birdie here and there.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And, uh, you know, give myself a
Speaker:chance. So, I mean,
Speaker:I. I just enjoy the game of golf. I
Speaker:love it. Like, it's my time when summer comes around.
Speaker:It's like, that's my time to get away.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's right.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: That's my.
Speaker:That's my.
Speaker:>> RB: And everyone needs that space.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Everyone needs it. Summertime, um,
Speaker:it sucks, though, because in Florida,
Speaker:courses close because it's. It's their
Speaker:off season, so it's. It's tough.
Speaker:You know, Pelican,
Speaker:I think closes after July 4th,
Speaker:so then, you know, but I.
Speaker:They were doing like a three week maintenance thing.
Speaker:Three weeks on for two, three weeks, and then
Speaker:off or a month, and then reopen after Labor Day for
Speaker:the summer. For the what? For the season. So it was
Speaker:tough. Um, so you can maybe
Speaker:only squeak in about, you know, six, seven rounds.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Before they. They shut down. But you guys, you know, you want to
Speaker:play right now in their peak.
Speaker:>> RB: Season, when everything's like, yeah, I can't
Speaker:wait.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, it's gonna be good. Ryan McDonough
Speaker:was just joined out there, and he played. He was sending me
Speaker:pictures, uh, the other day, and he's like, man, this
Speaker:course is unbelievable. He's like, it's just in such great
Speaker:shape. He's like, the caddies are the best. You know, I feel
Speaker:like everyone has such a good. When I bring people out there,
Speaker:like, man, this is great. Like, it's just so peaceful. It's
Speaker:relaxed, and everyone's so friendly, and it's just like,
Speaker:yeah, man. Just. They did it the right way.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No, they did. And we're definitely stoked to get back down there
Speaker:and play it again.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: But, um, the greens are like, Augusta,
Speaker:too. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, I mean, I Don't know that.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: From what other people say is related in the way they're
Speaker:smokes and all that. I think they took a page out of
Speaker:their. Because I think Fred Ridley's a
Speaker:member. Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, so. So Fred Ridley's
Speaker:daughter is married to a guy in a town that we
Speaker:all live in.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Um, where are you guys living?
Speaker:>> RB: Pittsburgh South. South of Pittsburgh. Yep.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I'm in West Virginia, but close
Speaker:enough state line. Morgantown.
Speaker:>> RB: Get him the Pikewood. He love that.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, My wife's best friend
Speaker:is from there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, really?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Jillian Barnett.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Barnett from Morgantown.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Jillian Barnett. Uh, she's from West
Speaker:Virginia.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Huh.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: She went to Marshall.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Okay.
Speaker:>> RB: I played golf there.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. Ah, she was.
Speaker:>> RB: I think I. I'm not kidding you. I think I know this
Speaker:name.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, she's like. You can look her up on Instagram if.
Speaker:Julian Barnett.
Speaker:>> RB: All right.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um, he.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: She's from West Virginia. Yeah.
Speaker:Um. But, yeah, that's. Small world.
Speaker:But she moved to St. Louis and then,
Speaker:um, they became really good friends and she ended up dating
Speaker:her brother for a little bit. And,
Speaker:um. Yeah, small world.
Speaker:Never been out to West Virginia.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, we can make that happen.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, we got two top hundos right here, my man, so
Speaker:you're welcome anytime, man. When you get some downtime, we could do something
Speaker:up in Pittsburgh, Fox Chapel or Oakmont, Laurel, and
Speaker:then mosey on down here and hit up a couple spots.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, we'll do that. Really?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Absolutely.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But I know we're getting close on our time with you, Patty, and
Speaker:we really appreciate it, but I gotta say one thing before
Speaker:we transition into our last segment called the Tap in
Speaker:segment, how about the whole deal with biz
Speaker:getting kind of gang. Gang bustered over there in
Speaker:Scottsdale, man. I mean, these five guys didn't even
Speaker:like, what are they thinking?
Speaker:>> RB: That one guy?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: What are they thinking?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know. Um. Now there's a
Speaker:video escalating. They attack someone at the golf course.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Before that. Lay some lady out.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. So like,
Speaker:um. I mean, they. I, ah.
Speaker:Uh, they're lucky, to be honest with you.
Speaker:Um, because if they didn't have
Speaker:six, I mean, if they maybe had three, I think
Speaker:bizarre would have took him out.
Speaker:But, I mean, it didn't even look like biz had a scratch. But
Speaker:if you see all those photos, those guys looked hurt.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: The gun green.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I just think it's immaturity. Like, it seems like
Speaker:I've been. I've been on Twitter and this one
Speaker:guys just been like, feeding my
Speaker:Twitter feed with like, all the information about These
Speaker:people, he's, like, going deep. And I think biz
Speaker:is having that. Having this guy on to talk to
Speaker:him about what he's been finding and all this stuff
Speaker:they have.
Speaker:>> RB: Hilarious.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Um, so I think that's not their first
Speaker:offense, but, you know, man up
Speaker:to biz. I mean, he's sticking up for a place that he goes,
Speaker:that he's loyal to, too. He knows the managers
Speaker:there, he knows the workers. And, uh, good on him
Speaker:because it seemed like no one else was doing anything. And good on
Speaker:him for stepping in and.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, for sure.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Definitely. Um, you know. You know,
Speaker:some people can just be, you know, that's it. It's just
Speaker:like, grow up. Like, if they're not going to serve you because you don't have a
Speaker:seat at the bar, just. Just wait. Be patient.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: And seemed, uh, like they were pretty drunk already,
Speaker:so. But I'm just pumped for biz, though, man, because,
Speaker:like, these guys, like, if you're gonna treat people
Speaker:like. And they're messing with the wrong guy
Speaker:and now this thing has blown up to the max,
Speaker:or their faces are painted everywhere.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Everywhere.
Speaker:>> RB: They can't have a job right now.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No. And I, uh, think it's great because,
Speaker:you know, they picked the wrong person. But
Speaker:for sure, good on Bizzle for sticking out
Speaker:for a place and the manager and,
Speaker:um, because it seemed like no one else was doing it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's it. I agree. All
Speaker:right, that's that.
Speaker:So we're going to transition this to the last segment Patty called the
Speaker:tap in segment presented by BET Nardi Golf. Check them out
Speaker:online at betnardy.com Pep's going to ask you some questions
Speaker:here and take it away.
Speaker:>> RB: All right. Most memorable. Memorable Stanley Cup.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: No, I mean, I'm from St.
Speaker:Louis.
Speaker:>> RB: Number one. All right. What outfit did your son
Speaker:wear to stream song on Father's Day?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Oh, God, he looked like. Oh, he wore, like, the Rory
Speaker:McElroy orange and orange, didn't
Speaker:he?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Fowler.
Speaker:>> RB: Ricky Fowler.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, that's flir right there for the top end. Right
Speaker:there. All right. Dream for some dead or
Speaker:alive.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Oh, Tiger
Speaker:Woods.
Speaker:Um. Oh, uh,
Speaker:man, Michael
Speaker:Jordan. I love Kobe
Speaker:Bryant. I think Kobe
Speaker:Bryant was one of town. It's either him or Tom
Speaker:Brady. But, you know, Kobe Bryant was, like, one of my favorite
Speaker:athletes. So was Tom. Um,
Speaker:you know, I didn't really grow up in the Michael Jordan era, but I just heard
Speaker:nothing but cool stories about this guy playing golf. So,
Speaker:like, uh, I gotta get out to
Speaker:Grove 23 when, you know, I gotta text Wayne Big
Speaker:hey, can MJ come play with us?
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Um. Yeah. I mean, those
Speaker:guys. I think it would just be so cool to play with Tiger.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Michael Jordan and see.
Speaker:>> RB: See what kind of game he's got.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. Uh, either Tom or Kobe. I would
Speaker:probably go.
Speaker:>> RB: We'll do five some. Yeah, you've earned it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And, uh, I feel like you can make it happen.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: With four of them.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, that's true. I mean, I think I can,
Speaker:uh. I don't know, man. That's just. That's just so
Speaker:tough because, like, you'd want to play with a lot of guys. Yeah.
Speaker:I think Bryson would be cool now, what he's doing,
Speaker:like. I think he's, like, just
Speaker:vibing, and I think it's just like,
Speaker:uh. I would. I would kind of like to play with him because you
Speaker:can. Even Phil Mickelson because
Speaker:he, uh.
Speaker:>> RB: We're taking 12 now.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. Well, that's hard. You can't really
Speaker:take a four. Worse. I would take Phil
Speaker:because he would gamble for sure. Oh, yeah, because I play with
Speaker:John Daly, so that was fun.
Speaker:>> RB: We were just with.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Just with Daily a couple weeks ago.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah. So he took three, uh. If you see him again, ask him
Speaker:about me. He took three grand from me.
Speaker:Cash.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um, Gotta be.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: It was awesome, though. I got the opportunity to play with him.
Speaker:>> RB: So he basically paid three grand to play with m. John Daly. That's the
Speaker:way I look at it.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: He gave me a stroke. A hole and beat the piss out of me.
Speaker:>> RB: I'll text them after this.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, you should text them. Be like, hey, I heard you took three grand from
Speaker:Pat Maroon. His son, little Johnny played. We
Speaker:played with two Yankees players,
Speaker:um, that day. It was
Speaker:hilarious.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, music choice on the course.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Hooting the blowfish radio.
Speaker:>> RB: We're Matt still. There you go.
Speaker:Yeah, you got to give Maddie. Stella.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: This golf game stinks, though. We gotta work on it.
Speaker:>> RB: We went to Grove with him.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I know. I saw that. I saw you guys.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:Um. All right, last question, and then you're
Speaker:out of here. What are you chasing?
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Cool. Chasing
Speaker:birdies. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I love it.
Speaker:>> RB: Love it. Patty Marin, thank you so much
Speaker:for your time, brother. I can't wait to do this in person and actually
Speaker:indulge in a few drinks and.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, man. Thanks for coming on.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: Yeah, no, thanks for having me, fellas. I appreciate it. It's been
Speaker:fun. Sorry it took so long, but you're good?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: All good.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: We can always do this again.
Speaker:>> RB: Man. That was awesome. Patty
Speaker:Maroon some stories. Dude, what a great last
Speaker:Year of golf for the guy,
Speaker:and I'm even more excited to get back to Pelican.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I know Pelican. Pelican's gonna be good there next month
Speaker:down there in Tampa with old BK and the
Speaker:boys, but, uh, no, dude, I mean, you go, you play Pine
Speaker:Valley, yuck it up with Brad Faxon, and the next thing you know,
Speaker:you're.
Speaker:>> RB: You know, on the green on 18 green with carts
Speaker:or lights on, and.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Then you nonchalantly invite yourself
Speaker:to Augusta, and next thing you know, it's like, wills up,
Speaker:boys. Sick.
Speaker:I loved it.
Speaker:>> Speaker A: I loved it.
Speaker:>> RB: It was such a blast. And, uh, he's got some
Speaker:stories, and I'd love to have a few drinks with this guy,
Speaker:and I can't wait to do that. So, um, thank
Speaker:you all for tuning in to Chasing Birds at Patty
Speaker:Maroon.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That was excellent.
Speaker:So we're kicking off the weekend here on
Speaker:Thursday, and, uh, you know, not too much
Speaker:going on this weekend in the golf world. Apparently, Tiger woods is not
Speaker:playing in the Hero Championship, which is
Speaker:this weekend. Uh, he said he's not tour
Speaker:ready yet, so hopefully we'll see him floating around at
Speaker:Augusta in April. But if not, man,
Speaker:you know, we wish him well.
Speaker:>> RB: Wish him well.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I'm excited for one thing right now, Pep, and that's my
Speaker:annual dinner with you and bk. And this year, we're taking it
Speaker:up to Gusto up at
Speaker:Nemocolan Resort. And by the way, people, as
Speaker:I always say, make sure you check out nemacolin
Speaker:online@nemacolin.com. gusto is a new
Speaker:Italian restaurant, and it kicks ass, so we will enjoy that
Speaker:dinner. But for you, with families out there, loved ones,
