Speaker BMarch 13, 2025 and this is worth the binge.
Speaker BThe show where Aubrey and Jeff talk about the shows worth binging.
Speaker BAubrey.
Speaker BIt's, it's.
Speaker BIt's the same day.
Speaker AIt is the same day.
Speaker BAnd so today's Thursday and episodes of Severance come out on.
Speaker BBut they really don't, do they?
Speaker AThey really don't.
Speaker BYeah, they're sneaky.
Speaker BThursdays, 9:00pm Eastern.
Speaker BSo we're about ready to watch episode nine, but here we're about to talk about episode eight.
Speaker ASeason two.
Speaker AEpisode eight is titled Sweet Vitri.
Speaker ADiscoveries are made.
Speaker BAt least one.
Speaker BYeah, I.
Speaker BI'm still not sure.
Speaker BThey're really multiple.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BDiscoveries of any real note, but definitely at least one.
Speaker BAnd it was big.
Speaker AHuge.
Speaker BI don't know what the outcome of that.
Speaker BThat finding that out is.
Speaker AYeah, I don't.
Speaker AI don't know.
Speaker AI guess we'll find out tonight.
Speaker BBut it does frame some previous conversations that we've seen a little differently.
Speaker ACobelvig is back.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd in a massive way, which we.
Speaker BI had a feeling was coming, that we're going to get a lot of her because we haven't seen her much at all this season.
Speaker AI think one other episode two.
Speaker BI think two, we saw her driving to Salt Snack and this time she actually got there.
Speaker BShe finished the drive.
Speaker BShe didn't turn around.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BAnd Salt's neck is looking.
Speaker BLooking a little rough.
Speaker AIt is, it's.
Speaker AIt's looking bad.
Speaker BShe stops at what I guess is a coffee shop, but, you know, just could be someone's house, you know, in a third world country.
Speaker BDidn't really look like there were a lot of lights on.
Speaker BI mean, it was during the day, but it's still like it was looking rough.
Speaker BShe sits down.
Speaker BThere's a couple.
Speaker BCouple people around her but not too much going on.
Speaker BAnd the guy serving the coffee kind of gives her a weird look when she comes in.
Speaker BDefinitely has knowledge of her.
Speaker BYou know, it's not like he's.
Speaker BHe's surprised to see her, but not surprised she exists.
Speaker AYeah, he looks like he's seen a ghost.
Speaker BYeah, it definitely looks like a ghost.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BJust walked in on his face.
Speaker BBut he still comes up and sees what she needs at his little establishment.
Speaker BHe's got.
Speaker AYeah, the name of this establishment is called the Dripping Pot Cafe.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI.
Speaker BNot the best of names and.
Speaker BBut kind of.
Speaker BKind of makes sense with the way the rest of town looks just run down like, you know, clearly it's one of those towns where there was industry and now there's not.
Speaker BAs we move on, we kind of learn that that industry was Lumen.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BThat they had a large presence there, and maybe so have some presence, but definitely not what they did.
Speaker BThe town is run down.
Speaker AHarmony, we find, definitely knows this guy.
Speaker AShe's given him the Cobell avid attitude, for sure.
Speaker AHe says, seats are for paying customers.
Speaker AAnd she says, well, buy me a coffee then.
Speaker AShe is so satisfied.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BHer name has never made sense.
Speaker AShe's not very harmonious.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BShe doesn't deserve it.
Speaker ABut she asked him to meet her at the factory.
Speaker AHe does.
Speaker AI think he's, like, trying to figure out what she's doing here.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI definitely see more out of curiosity than anything else.
Speaker AThe factory, like you said, is owned by Lumen.
Speaker BIt.
Speaker AIt's got a Lumen Industries print on the side of it.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BPretty faded out.
Speaker AMm.
Speaker AAnd it looks like it's no longer in use.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BYou know, and with that level of wear and tear on that building, for sure.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AHarmony says that Kieran Imogen met at the ether mill while she's looking at the factory.
Speaker ATalking to Hampton is his name.
Speaker BMm.
Speaker AAnd we get to find out that Harmony and Hampton were co workers there as children.
Speaker AWhat are you doing?
Speaker ALumen.
Speaker BYeah, I mean, Ms.
Speaker BWong, you know, it's not really that surprising.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ABut we didn't see many kids until her, so I don't know.
Speaker AAnd we find out that they were both getting high off ether while they were there.
Speaker AWhat the heck?
Speaker BSeemed kind of like maybe in that town, there wasn't much else to do.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd we see Hampton selling it at the beginning of the episode.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AGiving it to that old guy.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AThere's a lot of old people in this town.
Speaker BYeah, there are.
Speaker AI don't see any children anymore, so I don't know.
Speaker BNot the kind of place you'd want to have children.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AHarmony asked Hampton to drive her to house because she says they will know that it is her.
Speaker BIf they're watching the house, they're gonna see her coming.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd she needs to get something from there.
Speaker AWe don't know what right now, but.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd when she gets there, it doesn't even seem like she fully knows what.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ABut we later find out Sissy is her aunt, which I kind of guessed, and then they confirmed it at the end of the episode, but.
Speaker AAnd it doesn't seem like they have a very good relationship.
Speaker BNo.
Speaker BNo, it does not.
Speaker BShe does not want her and especially Hampton there at all.
Speaker ANo.
Speaker ABut Harmony pushed past.
Speaker ALike, I'm getting In here, whether you like it or not, kind of attitude.
Speaker AAnd she goes upstairs, and we see her old bedroom.
Speaker AKind of weird.
Speaker AThere's nothing in there, but.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BJust some measurements on the door frame.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd then she tries to go and get into Sissy's bedroom, but we see a plaque on the wall that says Celeste Sissy Cobell written on it.
Speaker AAnd it's a plaque that says Quarterly Striver, Fourth Quarter, Head of Vision and Youth, Apprentice Matron on it, which seemed interesting.
Speaker ADon't know what that means, but.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI mean, most.
Speaker BThey're phrasing, you know, the Wintertide fellow and all this, you know.
Speaker BNo idea.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ABut Harmony goes downstairs and asks where her things are, and Sissy says she sold them to the poor.
Speaker AYeah, I gave all your stuff away.
Speaker ASorry.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BDidn't even, you know, give it away.
Speaker BJust sold it.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BTo the people who can't afford things, I guess.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AThat was weird.
Speaker APhrasing.
Speaker AHarmony talks to Sissy about asking if anybody called, and Sissy says Mr.
Speaker ADrummond called.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BIt seems like she already knew Mr.
Speaker BDrummond, but definitely at least respected him, you know, because she's still a luminite.
Speaker AShe is.
Speaker AWe see a bunch of, like, lumen, like, shrines, kind of like Harmony had in her house.
Speaker AWe even saw.
Speaker AWhoa.
Speaker AAnd all the.
Speaker AAll the faces from the waffle party as little trinkets in her room.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BWhich Harmony eventually finds the key to her mother's room in there.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BEven though sissies, like, trying to plead with her not to do it.
Speaker BAnd she never follows her up there to try to stop her.
Speaker AI know.
Speaker AThat was so bizarre.
Speaker ALike, you're so against her being there, but you're not going to follow her upstairs.
Speaker AYou're just going to yell at her from downstairs.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI don't think she could have stopped her anyway.
Speaker BLike, you know, I think Harmony's got some.
Speaker BSome years on her, you know, enough years younger, but still like that.
Speaker BShe didn't even attempt.
Speaker BIt was, I thought, a little weird.
Speaker AAnd unlike Harmony's room, that was completely bare, this room has been untouched since Harmony's mother passed away.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BLike, to the point where I'm like, is the body in there?
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AOh, my gosh.
Speaker AThat would be.
Speaker AThat'd be crazy.
Speaker BIt would be only slightly more crazy than what Harmony does when she takes the breathing tube that she'd been keeping, hooks up to the machine and puts her mouth on it and starts breathing.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BThat's weird.
Speaker AIt is.
Speaker ABut I feel like you do crazy things in grief.
Speaker AI mean, I'VE never lost someone that close to me.
Speaker ABut, yeah.
Speaker AShe does talk about how she wasn't there when her mother passed.
Speaker BYeah, I get.
Speaker BYou're right.
Speaker BBut.
Speaker BAnd maybe she just never had time to process it because it wasn't recent.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BFrom the way they talked.
Speaker BSo I don't know.
Speaker BThat was weird, man.
Speaker AAnd it was super weird, too, that she, you know, she fell asleep crying.
Speaker ABut you can see time has passed because it gets dark.
Speaker AAnd you know, who is so upset with her being there does not go up and ask her to leave.
Speaker BAnd Hampton stayed for that whole period.
Speaker AHe just stayed outside for that whole time?
Speaker ALike.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AWhat?
Speaker BUntil.
Speaker BUntil you, you know, hear them arguing.
Speaker BAnd she wakes up as Hampton makes his way up there, too, to one of the weirdest scenes in the whole.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BSeries where they both take the ether and then kiss.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BAnd then passing.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BAnd somehow that gets Harmony to have an idea on where, you know, something might be the thing she's looking for.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BOutside.
Speaker AOutside.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ASo they go outside and look in.
Speaker AWas that, like, a seller?
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AShe finds, like, a box of old things.
Speaker AShe finds, like, a yearbook.
Speaker AWe see that she was on a team of some kind.
Speaker BWith James.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AWith Jamiegan, which I always thought was Jane J A N E, but I guess not.
Speaker ATheir family was just not weird enough or normal enough, I guess, to put an S on the end of it.
Speaker BOh, they were definitely weird enough.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AMaybe I didn't say it right.
Speaker AAnd then she finds a trophy of James Egan's head bust.
Speaker AA bust that says Wintertide Jame Egan, Winter Tide fellow.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker ASo I guess she won.
Speaker AShe did.
Speaker BShe did win fellowship.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AAnd she opens the bottom of it with a screwdriver and gets out a.
Speaker BNotebook with a whole bunch of information on that she needs to go show.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BAnd it turns out, as you look at the drawings and Ms.
Speaker BCobell is talking to Sissy, that she indeed is the one who came up with the idea of severance.
Speaker BThe chip, the brain waves, the sketches, the Glasgow block, the overtime contingency.
Speaker BAll of that is in her notebook that she.
Speaker BAnd she now has proof that she came up with all that.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AThat was insane.
Speaker AAnd she tries to, like, show to, like, I guess, gain her favor.
Speaker BDan.
Speaker BSissy tries to throw it in the fire.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BLike, she doesn't care about truth.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BShe's worried about upholding Lumen, upholding the Egan family.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AThat was nuts.
Speaker ABut thankfully, Harmony stops her.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BShe's got some power on her.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd she just kind of realizes that she's not going to win her aunt over.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AAt all.
Speaker BI'm out.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ASo she leaves with.
Speaker AShe tries to go get Hampton, I guess, but somebody's in cars on their way to house.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd he.
Speaker BHe's like, hey, take the truck.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BAnd for some reason he stays there.
Speaker BI don't.
Speaker BI guess to slow them down, whoever it is that's coming.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BAnd as she's driving away, and he's like, tame these four tempers.
Speaker BLike he's ready to fight.
Speaker BAnd he probably is.
Speaker BI don't know that that means good things for him.
Speaker BLike, it could mean he's gone.
Speaker BHe's dead.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AFor the third time this episode, we see Devin calling on the phone as she's in the car.
Speaker AThis time she finally picks up.
Speaker AShe didn't answer the last two times.
Speaker AAnd we hear Devin say, mark reintegrated.
Speaker AAnd Cobell says, let me talk to Mark now.
Speaker BAnd serious as a heart attack.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ASo serious.
Speaker AAnd Mark says, hello.
Speaker AAnd she's like, tell me everything in that exact voice.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BMaybe.
Speaker BMaybe a little.
Speaker BA little more genteel than that.
Speaker BBut.
Speaker BBut, yeah, pretty close.
Speaker AAnd then it ends and sets us.
Speaker BUp for the episode we're about to watch.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker BWhich means we probably won't get answers to this until episode 10, because they like to go every other.
Speaker BGive us a reveal and then go.
Speaker BSo this one's probably dealing with stuff and Burton Irving, honestly.
Speaker BProbably.
Speaker AYou think so?
Speaker BI do.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI do.
Speaker BBecause we had the Burton Irving episode in between Mark passing out.
Speaker BBeing after flooding the chip with reintegration.
Speaker BWell, little hopscotch for you.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AI.
Speaker AI don't.
Speaker AI don't like that.
Speaker AI do have one kind of observation, and the best quote of the episode.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker AHad nothing to do with any of our main characters.
Speaker ABut at the beginning in the Dripping Pot Cafe, you see this old lady named Rose and she says, you can top me off anytime.
Speaker BAnd that's all she means.
Speaker BShe's just talking about coffee.
Speaker BShe is.
Speaker BShe's just wanting.
Speaker BShe's a caffeine fiend.
Speaker ABut she says it like she's talking about something else.
Speaker AI mean.
Speaker BNo, no, no, no.
Speaker BShe just talking about coffee.
Speaker BShe's caffeine fiend.
Speaker BAnd that's definitely all that she meant.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BSo.
Speaker ASo that was episode eight of Severance of the Worth the Binge podcast.
Speaker AWe're really excited to watch episode nine here in a second.
Speaker ABut we would love to hear from you, hear your thoughts, your theories, your.
Speaker AOn the pod.
Speaker AOn the pod.
Speaker ASo please call into 415 Podline and let us know those.
Speaker BYep.

Speaker ADo it now if you want.
Speaker AIt's fine.
Speaker BYeah.
