Speaker AI've been trying different styles in that I haven't done like the puppet Muppet style yet.
Speaker ABut maybe, maybe we'll do that this week.
Speaker AWe'll see.
Speaker AHey, that reminds me, it's time for our Athlete of the Week at Nation.
Speaker AWe have another awesome athlete with us today, all the way from Lion Country.
Speaker AI hear what's Your name, sir?
Speaker BMy name is Rims Carnero, sir.
Speaker AAh, nice to meet you.
Speaker AAnd you are.
Speaker AWhat school did you train at?
Speaker BI trained in Integrity Martial Arts in Cutler Bay, Florida.
Speaker ACutler Bay, Florida.
Speaker ADown there with Senior Master Isaacs and Grandmaster Isaacs.
Speaker AAn awesome place down there.
Speaker AYou guys got like, there's like 400 integrity schools down there now.
Speaker AI think Senior Master Isaacs is trying to take over the state, I hear.
Speaker AHey, we love to hear a little bit about people's history.
Speaker AFirst, how old are you right now?
Speaker BI am 13 years old, sir.
Speaker AThirteen, okay.
Speaker AAnd what rank are you?
Speaker BI'm a second degree black belt.
Speaker ASecond degree black belt.
Speaker AFantastic.
Speaker AAnd so how did you get started in martial arts?
Speaker BI was 4 years old and I was really, like, fascinated with, like, the Ninja Turtles, and I always want to, like, become one of them, and my parents put me in Integrity, and now I'm here.
Speaker AIt's been history since then.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker AOkay, most important question then.
Speaker AWhich Ninja Turtle is your favorite?
Speaker BMichelangelo.
Speaker AMichelangelo, very popular.
Speaker ADonatello's better, but okay, great.
Speaker ASo, hey, question about competition.
Speaker AYou're one of these athletes that the junior ambassadors have been picking up to highlight.
Speaker AIt's great to see lots of different athletes highlighted at tournaments.
Speaker AWhat's your favorite event to compete in?
Speaker BMy favorite event to compete in is sparring.
Speaker BBecause I love the competitive nature of it.
Speaker BAnd, like, it doesn't matter how many times we hit each other or how hard outside of the mat, we're always friends.
Speaker AI love that.
Speaker AI tell my students all the time.
Speaker AWe always, you know, what's the nicest thing before you go into a sparring match?
Speaker AYou always shake hands.
Speaker AYou hug, you say, which is just kind of a crazy thing to think about.
Speaker ALike, we.
Speaker AWe go around kicking people in the head, but before and after we shake hands and hug, we're like, hey, yeah, no, that's fine.
Speaker ASo sparring is your go to event.
Speaker AI love it.
Speaker AWhat, what about, like, if you had to pick an event that was maybe not in your top level events, what event would that be?
Speaker BWell, I don't really have, like, an event I don't like the most.
Speaker BI like all events because they always, like, bring something.
Speaker BI always learn something from each event, and I always try to be 1% better in each event.
Speaker BSo I don't really have, like, a least favorite.
Speaker AOh, man, that's a great answer.
Speaker AVery cool.
Speaker ASo we are right now as we record this, getting ready for district championships and then world championships around the.
Speaker AAround the bend.
Speaker AWhat are you.
Speaker AWhat kind of goals do you have for the end of this season, the.
Speaker BKind of, the type of goals I have for the end of the season, I definitely try to get another world title and try to get a district, some district titles to qualify for some events that I maybe didn't qualify for for Worlds.
Speaker AGotcha.
Speaker AWhat, what event have you or events have you gotten world championships in before?
Speaker BWorld Creative Weapons Sparring, and we got it in team sparring last year, sir.
Speaker ANice.
Speaker AGood job.
Speaker AYou said creative weapons was one of them.
Speaker AWhat creative weapon do you, do you use?
Speaker BI use the nunchuck, sir.
Speaker ANice.
Speaker AAnd then in traditional weapons, are you a chuck guy too?
Speaker BYes, sir.
Speaker AYeah, I gotta have those flying double chucks, right?
Speaker BYes, sir.
Speaker AYou got it.
Speaker AHey, what about look into the future?
Speaker AYou know, you're 13, maybe not next year, but just as you look at the future of your Taekwondo training as an athlete, as a competitor, maybe as a, as a student, what are you looking at as some longer term goals for yourself?
Speaker BDefinitely Mastership.
Speaker BI do one day want to become a Master, sir.
Speaker AI love that.
Speaker AI am.
Speaker AYou know what?
Speaker AI am so impressed with the number of students that I have got to interview through this series that have that goal of becoming a Master, and it's so cool.
Speaker AYou guys can most certainly be a great generation of masters.
Speaker AYou know, we get to see, you know, I, I'm personally excited to be able to be like, I interviewed that guy, you know, when he's now I'll probably be like with a cane or something awful there, but I'm not that old.
Speaker ABut going for master, that's awesome.
Speaker AYou guys got some great role models there and integrity for you.
Speaker AAs you look at, you know, the people around you, as you look at your own competitive nature, what does it mean to be an athlete that goes beyond the belt?
Speaker BFor me, what it means to be an athlete that goes beyond the belt is to inspire other competitors that maybe doesn't mean to have to be in the same ring as me, but to push them and for them to always do their best, no matter the outcome and, and to always be happy with how they did.
Speaker AOh, I love that.
Speaker AI think it's so important.
Speaker AThat's such an important message for all kinds of people.
Speaker AEspecially like this time of year, we're going to have a lot of people that aren't going to get the title they wanted.
Speaker AYou know, I mean, there's, there's 10 people or more in the, in the Tournament of Champions for that division.
Speaker AOne person walks away with a title.
Speaker AYou know, there's a lot of people who don't walk away.
Speaker AAnd what you said there about making sure that they, you know, think about how they did for themselves, how they improve themselves.
Speaker AGreat inspiration for people as they get ready for worlds and nationals.
Speaker AObviously we want you guys to win, you know, titles and stuff, but have you.
Speaker AHere's a, Here's a question.
Speaker AHave you gone competed in the TOC or district and not got the title that you wanted?
Speaker BYes, sir.
Speaker AAnd how did you.
Speaker AHow did you deal with that?
Speaker BI just made sure to work twice as hard for the next year and just be prepared for whatever happens the next time around.
Speaker AI love that.
Speaker AGood.
Speaker AIt's all about the journey that you're.
Speaker AYou're participating in.
Speaker AIt's not always about the end result.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker AGreat advice, sir.
Speaker AWhat a great athlete.
Speaker AAny other last words for ATA nation out there before we let you go?
Speaker AI'm sure you've got lots to do and train.
Speaker AI think I hear Senior Master Isaacs back there telling you to, like, do more jumping jacks or run 100 more miles or something.
Speaker BJust for every competitor to train hard, do their best, and good luck for TOC and districts.
Speaker AAh, great.
Speaker AThank you so much for your time, sir.
Speaker AThank you for being an inspiration for other athletes out there in ATA Nation.
Speaker AAnd good luck in all your competitions.
Speaker BThank you, sir.
Speaker ALove it.
Speaker AAnother amazing athlete of the week, guys.
Speaker AThese athletes just keep coming and I'm so impressed to get to meet these guys, see what their goals are, get to talk to them about, you know, their favorite events and stuff.
Speaker AI.
Speaker AI think it's really cool.
Speaker AI just did another interview that'll go off later in July today before this episode, and it was great.
Speaker AReally exciting stuff.
Speaker ANow, don't forget to tune into our live.
Speaker AOkay?
Speaker AWorld Championships is around the corner right now.
Speaker ASome of you, some of our loyal listeners will be down in Little Rock at the athlete development camp.
Speaker AGuys, I know you are going to be going through T shirts like crazy, sweating it up, working hard.
Speaker ASenior Master Isaac's making you do those runs.
Speaker AYou know, all the amazing coaches out there.
Speaker AIt's going to be, I know, a great time.
Speaker ASo next month we're going to do another live episode.
Speaker AAnd so we're going to be talking to Team usa, some captains from Team usa.
Speaker AWe'll be talking to them.
Speaker AWe're gonna be talking about the Whale Pass Alaska adventure that you can have with song on Taekwondo in Whale Pass, Alaska.
Speaker AWe're going to be talking about that.
Speaker AThat's going to be the live episode that we're going to do in July.
Speaker ASo tune in Saturday 21st June for our first live event.
Speaker AAnd then we will be doing another live show in July with some other amazing guests.
Speaker ASo do not miss them.
Speaker AI'm thrilled.
Speaker AWe have just such a packed summer.
Speaker AAll kinds of amazing stuff going on.
Speaker AYou should see my schedule tomorrow.
Speaker AIt's nuts.
Speaker ABut you know what?
Speaker AAs ATM martial artists, we're out there taking action.
Speaker AYou can't just sit around.
Speaker AIf you're going to be a champion beyond the belt, you can't just be sitting on the couch.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker AYou got to be taking action.
Speaker AOkay, so that's your action call for today.
Speaker AGet out there, take action, be a champion beyond the belt.
