Ep36: How To GROW Your Business With A Book

[00:00:00] I want to talk about why a book is good for business. In the sense of how a book can grow your business, how you can become the go-to person in your business and how to share your message with others in a way that is packaged in the form of a book. That's tangible asset, that's easy to distribute. And to let people know who you are.

[00:00:21] So. Welcome back to another episode of the published impact podcast. Today's episode, like I said, it's about using the power of your book to grow your business. So whether you're a coach consultant, a leader, an entrepreneur. This episode is going to give you a lot of insight into how you can use your book to take your business to that next level or to grow your business.

[00:00:44] So I'm going to segment this episode into six sections.

[00:00:47] So number one is the actual power of a book. The credibility you get and the authority you have inside your industry when it comes to publishing a book is second to none. A book written by you serves as really your business card at it showcases your expertise in the area that you show up in.

[00:01:06] Branding yourself with a book is what can set you apart from other people that do similar work in your industry. It gives you a chance as well to show people what's different about you, what your message is and your method towards getting the results that you show up each day for, with your clients, with your customers. So the credibility is there when it comes to writing a book, you become more credible.

[00:01:30] When it came to me being a book coach I wrote and published at three different books before I became a book coach. The first two books of mine though, were completely different about book coaching, but published to impact my latest bestselling book.

[00:01:42] That book is all about how to write and publish a non-fiction book. And I use that book now inside my business. I use it as a tool. For many different reasons and two. Really showcase my knowledge and as well, how I approach the book writing process, because each book coach is different, just like H fitness coach is different.

[00:02:02] Each business coach is different. The way that you show up each day for your clients, for your customers are different to the next person. And a book is a really great way to showcase your methods inside as well.

[00:02:16] Secondly, your book builds trust and it builds or authority. So when you publish your book, the authority that you present inside your industry, you've gone ahead and done all the work. You've published your book, and you're giving it out and you're putting yourself out there.

[00:02:30] You're putting your story out there. You're putting your experience out there. You're putting your methods out there. That. is going to be really beneficial when it comes to showcasing who you are and what you do inside your business. And it's going to create trust.

[00:02:44] Is going to help you build and maintain relationships a whole lot easier. because the person on the other side, the prospect, the potential client, or whoever it is, you might want to collaborate with. They have an opportunity to read your book and they can sit down and have a read and they can understand who you are, what you do and why you do it.

[00:03:03] That is extremely important. Rather than jumping on a coaching call and trying to figure out whether they're the right person to work with. Your book can make that decision so much easier so when they do show up in the interested in working with you,

[00:03:16] there's that rapport and there's that connection that makes it a whole lot easier to start that working relationship with each other. So ultimately your book creates trust and authority. Number three is the rage, your book. Has the ability to reach people internationally. And I know social media allows you to reach more people. Whether that's through the algorithm or posting consistently.

[00:03:39] Your book is a way to distribute. Your knowledge, your expertise, and you can do this on channels like Amazon bookstores, online platforms. There are many different ways where you can expand, reach with your book because ultimately Amazon is a search engine as well. And if people are looking for books that need that problem solving and you position your book in the right way. It's likely that they will be able to find your book and there'll be able to buy your book.

[00:04:06] And again, it goes back to the trust. They're able to trust you because they're receiving your book and they feel like they know you.

[00:04:14] The fourth way you can grow your business with a book is through lead generation in using the book itself. Your book is a way to, again, build authority, create trust, build relationships. But using your book as a tool to give away to potential clients.

[00:04:31] And whether that's a paperback book or an ebook. It is one of the most powerful ways, again, to create that trust. You're giving a book for free. Think about this. If you go to an event and you meet someone new. And they hand over their business card. But you hand over your book. That is such a powerful thing to do. At an event because. The person who's receiving that book. They're going to take that book home with them. And that book is likely to go inside their office. They now remember you because that book is either staring them at their face to read or you're constantly on their mind because they need a problem that needs solving. And the fact that that person has met you. It's going to make, building that relationship with that individual person a hell of a lot easier. If you didn't have a book.

[00:05:20] Another powerful way your book can generate leads inside your business is by giving away your ebook for free and using your book as a lead magnet. I used to do this to build my email list with the six pillars of a rewarding life and evolve your skills. Before I moved to book coaching. I was building an author business in a sense where I was just going to consistently start writing more books, but I pivoted a bit, what I did was. I would give away my previous free book.

[00:05:48] And what that would do was that would encourage them to get onto my email list

[00:05:52] Where I can then nurture them, deliver the high value to them, and also give them updates on my next book. And so I do exactly the same thing now with published impact, except the nurturing stage comes through giving value, whether that's directing them to my podcast, whether that's giving them some free resources after the book. I nurtured that relationship through my email list then into integrating them. And introducing them to idea to asset through book coaching through the different pathways of how I can best help them write and publish their book.

[00:06:26] So think about how you can do that inside your business. What would that nurturing process look like after you've given them a free copy of your book?

[00:06:34] All right. We're up to number five. So, the fifth way your book can grow your business. But just to recap quickly, so far. Number one. Was credibility. Your book can give you your book. He gives you credibility and authority. Number two, your book creates

[00:06:52] trust, trust with potential clients trust with collaborators trust with your own current clients. Number three was the reach your book has.

[00:07:00] So your book can go to go on, Amazon, it going to bookstores.

[00:07:03] It can go through many different channels where people all around the world have access to that is outside of social media.

[00:07:10] Number four was generating leads and sales.

[00:07:13] Your book can be used, and I believe it should be used inside your business as a tool to generate leads inside your business, where you can introduce them into your world, into your products and into your services. And now we're up to number five, which is creating multiple income streams.

[00:07:31] And this is a really big point because I don't want you just to think of royalties. Because your book. In the scheme of things you sell a book and you're probably going to get a few dollars for it. 5 6, 7, $8, depending on what you sell it for, but how you can use your book is you can use your book and monetize your book and turn that into courses. Coaching programs, a keynote talk. There's so many options that your book has the power to. do. My main program inside my book, coaching business idea to asset. Help someone write and publish a book inside six months and my clients they're with me for the six month period and yes, my book teaches them how to do that. My book teaches them how to write and publish their book within the amount of time. But people need support. People need accountability. And I created idea to asset off of the back of my book.

[00:08:27] So inside your business. You can use your book as a tool to one. Charge more in your services, charge more in your products or to. Create that cause create that workshop, create that coaching program because there are many other ways your book can make you money that is outside of the royalties.

[00:08:47] And I want you to think bigger than the royalties. Because that is where the revenue or the income stream is going to come from and be creative with it. All right. And number six now I did mention the beginning of this episode, there's six segments to this episode. The first five segments were actually ways you can grow your business with a book, but the six part to this episode is actually giving you practical advice on how you can start writing your book.

[00:09:13] So you want to clarify who you are targeting. What is your business? Who are you targeting? What problem are you solving for that person? And it's highly likely, they're already going to be your ideal clients. You then want to develop a clear concept. So outline your key, main ideas and then use those ideas to create an outline. So break your book into chapters and sections. Remember who you are writing to because the person you're writing to are going to need their problem solved, and they're going to be starting your book at the very beginning of a certain journey.

[00:09:47] You want to take them to the end of that journey. So ask yourself, where were you at before you started and where are you at right now? There is a journey and you want to deliver that journey. In a book to your readers. But you want to deliver it in the most easiest way possible.

[00:10:05] So develop an outline for your book and you can break those down into chapters and sections. And then that's where you want to start creating a writing schedule and dedicate consistent time to getting your manuscript done. Now there's two things when it comes to writing your book. Clarity and planning. You want to make sure your content is relevant and valuable enough because that's going to make marketing your book a whole lot easier. Planning is the second important part of your book, because it's going to keep you organized.

[00:10:35] It's going to keep you motivated to continue writing that book and finish writing that book because you'd be surprised how quickly a book can take you to write if you're doing it the right way. So set the realistic goals for your book and anticipate that there are going to be challenges. Sometimes you're going to be working on your business more. Sometimes you're going to be pulled in a different direction in terms of being sitting down to write, you might have. Problems come up, things happen and you might not dedicate yourself enough for that week.

[00:11:03] Anticipate the challenges that are going to happen because there are going to be challenges.

[00:11:08] All right. Let's now just quickly recap. The five ways of how publishing a book can grow your business. The first way it was the credibility it gives you when you publish a book,

[00:11:18] when you publish a book, people appreciate that more. And they're going to listen to what you have to say.

[00:11:24] Number two is the trust and authority. A book brings it's pretty self-explanatory because a book just establishes you as an authority in your field. you've done all the work yourself and you've wrapped it all up and you've delivered a present to the world in form of a book. Number three is a bookie expands your reach.

[00:11:42] So if you have a personal brand or a business brand, using your book? You can reach more people and you're then going to invite them into your world throughout the book.

[00:11:50] Number four is the generation of leads and sales off the back of those leads. So using your book as a lead generation tool, and that also includes putting resources throughout the book. So whatever's valuable at that point in the journey that your reader is on. You can give them free resources that are going to help them, those resources.

[00:12:09] You're going to get them onto your email list. You're then going to nurture them through a point. Of where you can ultimately serve them, work with them. And help get to where they want to be.

[00:12:19] And finally, number five, the different income streams, a boot can bring. And it's not about royalties. It's about what you do with your book after it's been published because as a business owner, If you think about the ways you can use your book. Like I said, courses, coaching programs. Speaking engagements. There's many different ways.

[00:12:39] You can use your book as a tool. To charge more in your business to earn more in your business and to really make an impact on other people's lives in a most powerful way, because that's what it's all about. So thanks so much again for joining me. I want you to write your book. If you need any help, writing it, feel free to reach out for me in the show notes and I can help you out so thanks again and I'll speak to you again on the next episode.
