Speaker:

Speaker:

do a deep dive into sexual health and performance and how

Speaker:

it affects men of all ages and backgrounds. So let's get

Speaker:

started, and be sure to visit my website at

Speaker:

resources from the show. See you on the inside.

Speaker:

Hello there, Modern Man. I'm Dr Anne Truong. I'm a sexual health

Speaker:

specialist who treated over 7000 men. Do you know that you can

Speaker:

have sexual longevity, or your erection or the ability to have

Speaker:

sex until the day you die? Yes, the more research that I do on

Speaker:

sexual health, the more I realize that our brain is

Speaker:

programmed to be a sexual organ because the area that control

Speaker:

sexual activity, sexual behavior is in the deepest part of your

Speaker:

brain called the hypothalamus, which is between your ears here

Speaker:

and deep behind your nose, and is protected area. But it's also

Speaker:

an area that is the oldest part of the brain, is called the

Speaker:

primal part of the brain, which is the same area of the brain

Speaker:

that we share with salamanders, we share with mammals, mammals

Speaker:

that are non human, that has been in existence for hundreds

Speaker:

of millions of years, and that is the primal center of the

Speaker:

brain. So what I'm getting with this sexual function is sexual

Speaker:

behavior is the natural behavior for human, because the drive for

Speaker:

human is to continue the human life, to have sexual activity

Speaker:

and to have offspring and to carry the DNA. Because if you

Speaker:

don't carry the DNA or be able to have intercourse, then the

Speaker:

species will die down. So that's kind of like where I'm heading

Speaker:

with this, is that the primal part sexual center is in the

Speaker:

deepest part of the brain, where it's protected, it's in the

Speaker:

primal part of the area, and that that's where all the

Speaker:

hormones and all the nerves are being be secreted, being

Speaker:

transfer when desire, the excitement happens. Remember,

Speaker:

the largest sexual organ is the brain, not penis at all.

Speaker:

So let me give you an example. Mick Jagger, I just saw an

Speaker:

article. He's 82. He had an eight year old son. So that

Speaker:

means that he had to be when he was 74. I don't know whether he

Speaker:

took ED medicine or not, but I hear of men in their late 70s,

Speaker:

even in 80s, be able to have children. Because men's sperm do

Speaker:

not decrease as they get older. You can still make sperm until

Speaker:

the day you die, and you can still be able to transfer your

Speaker:

DNA. It's just the ability to maintain the erection. But the

Speaker:

ability to maintain erection is affected by the condition that

Speaker:

you get, the men get when they pass the age of 35. So where I'm

Speaker:

heading with this is that your erection is natural. Your

Speaker:

erection is primal, and you lose your erection because you don't

Speaker:

take care of your erection. It doesn't happen because you get

Speaker:

older. Aging does not equal sexual decline. Now, many

Speaker:

factors affect sexual function, however, they usually occur when

Speaker:

you get older, especially after the age of 35. Because after 35

Speaker:

your testosterone hormone dip, and then you start to have high

Speaker:

blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and you

Speaker:

gain weight. You don't have time to exercise because you spend

Speaker:

time working, have other responsibilities. You have

Speaker:

chronic stress from either finance or social or work. And

Speaker:

then when you develop diabetes, you'll have neuropathy or less

Speaker:

sensation in the nerve. Then you have sleep deprivation. And the

Speaker:

more you work, the less time you have to really take care of

Speaker:

yourself, and it will affect your work life balance. And then

Speaker:

as you gain weight, you don't have time to exercise, you don't

Speaker:

sleep well, you start to have orthopedic issue. Your knee

Speaker:

hurt, your back hurt, your hip hurt, so you don't exercise as

Speaker:

well, and then it perpetuate into this vicious cycle. Now all

Speaker:

those conditions that I have talked about, high blood

Speaker:

pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity,

Speaker:

neuropathy, high stress, sleep deprivation, work and orthopedic

Speaker:

issues, all combined to affect sexual function. And therefore

Speaker:

these are conditions that you acquire when you are older, and

Speaker:

therefore that contribute to lower testosterone, decrease

Speaker:

blood flow because of inflammation, and therefore ED.

Speaker:

So ED is not something that you get when you age, it's just that

Speaker:

these chronic condition happen when you get older. And it

Speaker:

happened to be that when you get older, you have these

Speaker:

conditions. So people tend to think that, "Oh, okay, I'm

Speaker:

older, and inevitably I will have ED." Well not necessarily

Speaker:

so. What I'm trying to say is that you can have sexual

Speaker:

activity the day you die, if you take care of yourself like

Speaker:

follow a good diet, such as the Mediterranean diet, have active

Speaker:

physical activity, control your weight, have adequate sleep and

Speaker:

just good habits such as kind of decrease your alcohol content,

Speaker:

stop smoking, control your stress, and also porn as well.

Speaker:

Now that was all modifiable, all those chronic conditions I

Speaker:

listed before, all modifiable by the diet, the exercise, the

Speaker:

sleep and the habit that I talk about. Yes, I know this is mind

Speaker:

blowing. The more research and I look into this, the more that I

Speaker:

do this, I realize that, you know, you are to blame. We are

Speaker:

to blame, everyone to blame, too, if you have sexual

Speaker:

dysfunction. Because the way our body is made, you are programmed

Speaker:

to be able to have sexual activity until the day you die.

Speaker:

And the reason why ED happens when you're over 35 and the

Speaker:

older you get, the more common ED is present because of this

Speaker:

chronic medical conditions that I mentioned about. But you can

Speaker:

modify that. I know it sounds too simple, doesn't it? And

Speaker:

believe it or not, I have seen several of my patients that in

Speaker:

the early 80s, mid 80s, eat well, exercise, don't really

Speaker:

stress a lot. They sleep well and they're still doing

Speaker:

erection. For instance, my handyman, he is early 80s right

Speaker:

now, and he has no problem with sex, and he's on his third wife,

Speaker:

still getting more than one, and he doesn't take Viagra or

Speaker:

Cialis. I can't tell you how many patients that I have seen

Speaker:

that demonstrate to me what I have just talked about as well.

Speaker:

Is that you can have sexual longevity until the day you die.

Speaker:

So I hope that makes sense. I hope that just stimulate you to

Speaker:

do something about it, that you do not have to live with ED. I
