Have you ever stood in that grocery store checkout line?
Speaker:You got your card in hand and you're just praying it doesn't get declined again.
Speaker:Or maybe you've laid in bed at 3:00 AM staring at that ceiling, your mind racing.
Speaker:Wondering, will I make rent this month?
Speaker:Can I pay the bills?
Speaker:What if something breaks?
Speaker:It's not just financial stress, that's fear, that's shame,
Speaker:and that is suffocating.
Speaker:And if we're honest, it can crush your faith.
Speaker:So today I'm gonna share a simple solution to not only reduce your financial stress.
Speaker:Also restore your crushed faith.
Speaker:So let's do this together.
Speaker:Hey everyone, and welcome to Ask Ralph.
Speaker:I'm Ralph your financial evangelist, and this is the show where we
Speaker:tackle real financial challenges with a faith centered approach.
Speaker:See, it's all about helping you break the cycle of financial shame with confidence.
Speaker:In today's episode, it's all about the emotional toll of living in that
Speaker:cycle of financial shame, the stress, the anxiety, and yes, your faith.
Speaker:So let's talk about it.
Speaker:I, I wanna start with a question from a listener named Lisa.
Speaker:Lisa reached out to me and she said this, Ralph, I am so stressed about money
Speaker:that I can't even focus on my faith.
Speaker:How do I fix this?
Speaker:Lisa, thank you so much for your heartfelt question.
Speaker:That question that's real, that is so impactful, and that is
Speaker:truly suffocating, isn't it?
Speaker:And I know so many people listening right now may very well
Speaker:feel the exact same way you do.
Speaker:But here's the truth, money, stress doesn't just affect your bank account.
Speaker:It affects your mind, it affects your relationships, it affects your sleep,
Speaker:it affects your peace, and yes, it affects your connection with God.
Speaker:Let's be honest, financial stress is relentless.
Speaker:It creeps into everything.
Speaker:It makes you short-tempered with your kids.
Speaker:It makes prayer feel impossible.
Speaker:It makes you feel like God is somehow distant, that he's silent,
Speaker:maybe even disappointed in you.
Speaker:Listen to me.
Speaker:What I'm about to say is vitally important.
Speaker:God is not distant.
Speaker:God is not silent.
Speaker:God is not done.
Speaker:And a solution today, well, it starts with acknowledging the emotional toll.
Speaker:You don't have to pretend that everything's fine.
Speaker:You don't have to put on a brave face for God.
Speaker:'cause guess what?
Speaker:He already knows.
Speaker:The book of one Peter, chapter five, verse seven says, cast all of your
Speaker:anxiety on him 'cause he cares for you.
Speaker:See, he cares not just about your faith, but he cares about your fear.
Speaker:Yes, God does not want you to live in fear.
Speaker:Think about that for a moment.
Speaker:Isn't that tremendous?
Speaker:So, name it, write it down, say it out loud.
Speaker:Let him meet you in the middle of it.
Speaker:You're probably thinking, okay, Ralph, well how do I build
Speaker:this daily spiritual habit?
Speaker:So here's something simple but powerful.
Speaker:Start your day with two minutes of prayer.
Speaker:Yes, just two minutes is all that it takes to get started.
Speaker:Do you have two minutes in your day?
Speaker:If you do, then let's do this.
Speaker:Say, God, I give you this burden.
Speaker:Help me trust you with it.
Speaker:Yes, it's really that simple.
Speaker:Then write down your biggest financial worries.
Speaker:Then say, Lord.
Speaker:These are yours.
Speaker:And then I want you to read Philippians chapter four verses six to seven every
Speaker:day this week and speak it out loud.
Speaker:And I wanna share that with you right now.
Speaker:This is what it says.
Speaker:It says, do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by
Speaker:prayer and petition with Thanksgiving.
Speaker:Present your request to God and the peace of God.
Speaker:Which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and
Speaker:your minds in Christ Jesus.
Speaker:That peace.
Speaker:It's not a myth, it, it's not for perfect people.
Speaker:It's for you, Lisa.
Speaker:You are not alone, and if you're listening today and feeling
Speaker:overwhelmed, you're not alone either.
Speaker:God doesn't expect you to carry this alone.
Speaker:He wants to walk with you through it.
Speaker:And let me just say that again.
Speaker:You are not broken.
Speaker:You are not forgotten.
Speaker:You are his beloved.
Speaker:So let's pray together.
Speaker:Heavenly Father, we come to you with heavy hearts.
Speaker:So many of us are burdened by money, by stress, by fear, and by anxiety.
Speaker:Lord, we ask, would you meet us in our worry?
Speaker:Would you remind us that we're not alone?
Speaker:Help us to trust in your provision even when we can't see the way forward.
Speaker:Lord, give us peace that surpasses all understanding and faith that
Speaker:holds on even during the storm.
Speaker:We ask this in Jesus' name.
Speaker:Amen.
Speaker:So here's your challenge for today.
Speaker:Before you go to bed tonight, I want you to write down one financial burden you're
Speaker:carrying just one, and then pray over it.
Speaker:Release it to God.
Speaker:Say, God, I trust you with this.
Speaker:And tomorrow we're gonna get more practical.
Speaker:We're gonna talk about budgeting, we're talking about planning,
Speaker:and we're gonna be talking about taking real steps towards peace.
Speaker:But first we start here with faith and with honesty.
Speaker:So I just wanna thank you for joining me today.
Speaker:I know your time is valuable, so I appreciate you choosing to spend
Speaker:just a few moments with me today.
