When you wake up and get ready for work, And don't quite know how to do the things, how to extrovert, socialize, motivate yourself for what will be surely another day of back to back meetings.
People asking you for a quick two minute chat that you know is going to last a half hour. The quick questions, the work drama only to realize it's 5pm and none of the actual work got done. I wanted to leave you with a resource you can use and play in those moments, a little guided experience for the introverted corporate girlies or boys, of course.
So hello there, welcome to this space, this beautiful place where you get to leave the world behind. I know you're just about to dive into the hustle and bustle of the next meetings, whether it's the first meeting of the day or the fifth. Those couple of seconds before you hit join can often feel like a storm you're bracing yourself for.
But not now. We're here to hit pause. It's just you right here in peace and quiet. You get to go in ward, be with yourself, truly feel what must be your most favorite company, your own energy arrive in this moment, sink into your cushion or chair, relax your shoulders, shake off that tension that rushes through your body before you start your work day.
The next meeting. The tough conversation. You don't need that tension now, let go of it, loosen the grip, ground yourself in the earth below you and then take a deep breath in
and out.
One more deep breath in
and out.
Take a few seconds here to settle in. To arrive in your own space, your own energy.
What naturally happens here, as you try and focus on your breath, is your thoughts come up. Thoughts about your to do list for the day, the next meeting, the email you left in your inbox yesterday night. It's okay for these thoughts to be there. In fact, it's absolutely normal. Thank you. You take your job seriously.
You're not in it for a nine to five. You're going places. And some of the hustle you're experiencing, some of that discomfort is part of it. But today, I want to frame your perspective in a way that allows you to move through the hustle, find a way to endure, accept, Look past what annoys you today and step into your power.
Think of the thoughts that come up as little air balloons floating all around you. They can be in the room with you. You notice they're there. But whenever one comes too close, takes up too much space in your thoughts, give it a little flick with your finger. And directed back into the room.
See, everyone feels like this. Even the most successful career, the most aligned job role has tasks, meetings, responsibilities that feel heavy at times, make it difficult to motivate yourself, career fulfillment. does not come from erasing all of the uncomfortable situations and tasks, but by anchoring and grounding yourself, by putting down roots that are stronger than the air balloons around you, by finding a place inside of you that is safe, comforting, a no drama zone.
Everything always works out in that space. Things are good to place. You carry around with yourself, wherever you go. It's what makes you so powerful and it's what you have your introversion, your introspection to thank for that peace and quiet, that place inside yourself, the safe space. This is where your power comes from. The brilliant ideas, the fresh perspectives, the answers you seek. Whenever the day gets too busy, too overwhelming, too much to handle, this is where you retreat to.
Simply by finding some quiet space, by closing your eyes, breathing in and out. And letting the hot air balloons fly around you. As you're getting ready to start your day, cherish what you have here. Feel into how good it feels to be by yourself. Sense your feet on the ground. The sound of your own breath.
The smell of a new day. This is your power source. This is where you get your energy. This is where you get ready to be the person who does things differently today. Use this feeling, this calm, peace and quiet. Embrace it, leverage it, Make it your approach to every message, meeting, crisis, or work drama that awaits you today.
Make it your signature move. Or as I like to call it, your secret weapon. Now, slowly bring your attention back to the room. Run your hands across your arms, your shoulders, your legs, like a gentle stroke to let your body know it's time and you're ready. Open your eyes and give yourself a big, warm, comforting smile.
