Karen Kissane:

Leverage. It's like one of the best words in

Karen Kissane:

the dictionary, leverages for Joe amongst my clients, that

Karen Kissane:

leverage is my middle name. We leverage business. We build a

Karen Kissane:

slick, smart, streamlined business. Leverage is getting

Karen Kissane:

more from less. So we can do that in business. Great. The

Karen Kissane:

concept and the idea and being able to do this in business is

Karen Kissane:

incredibly powerful. What if we can now apply the principles of

Karen Kissane:

leverage to ourselves as well? This is the big game changer.

Karen Kissane:

This is what so few people are doing. And this is honestly my

Karen Kissane:

friends. This is the missing piece of the entrepreneurial

Karen Kissane:

puzzle. Hi. This is Karen here, and on today's episode, I want

Karen Kissane:

to talk about the birth of biohacking business, how it all

Karen Kissane:

started, where it came from, and how the combination of business

Karen Kissane:

and strategy and biology really shaped the movement that I'm

Karen Kissane:

building today. And in order to do this, I've got a step I gotta

Karen Kissane:

rewind seven or so years when I started my business, I became

Karen Kissane:

obsessed with strategy seven years ago, and I still am today.

Karen Kissane:

What I wanted to do was help people who ran primarily service

Karen Kissane:

based businesses, help them to monetize their genius and make

Karen Kissane:

money from their expertise. I did that through helping them

Karen Kissane:

with the strategy that they needed to grow their business,

Karen Kissane:

reach more people, drive traffic to the top of their funnel, hire

Karen Kissane:

people with their sales and their marketing and their

Karen Kissane:

offers, all the things that we know are important when it comes

Karen Kissane:

to strategy, to build a thriving and profitable business. But

Karen Kissane:

what I didn't realize at the time is that I was on the brink

Karen Kissane:

of something much bigger, something much, much bigger, was

Karen Kissane:

yet to come, and this is where I am today. The integration of

Karen Kissane:

systems and processes was really solid strategy, but the

Karen Kissane:

biohacking that feeds into this is a game changer in business. I

Karen Kissane:

know this through my own business, and I know this

Karen Kissane:

through helping my clients and hundreds of my clients to build

Karen Kissane:

their businesses. Strategy alone is not enough, and that's what

Karen Kissane:

I've come to realize over the last few years. This is why what

Karen Kissane:

I'm doing with biohacking in business is bringing these

Karen Kissane:

parallels together, helping people to not only build their

Karen Kissane:

business, but helping them to feel amazing in the process of

Karen Kissane:

doing this, because when we feel amazing, we do amazing. So I

Karen Kissane:

want to share today with you the story of how this all began, how

Karen Kissane:

I ended up being interested in biohacking myself, and the steps

Karen Kissane:

that I am taking right now to help clients, people who are

Karen Kissane:

building businesses, potentially you made by hacking the missing

Karen Kissane:

piece of the puzzle in your business, because this gives you

Karen Kissane:

the competitive edge. This gives you what you may not have, what

Karen Kissane:

you may be missing today, right now, in your business. So keep

Karen Kissane:

listening. I've got some really cool things that I want to share

Karen Kissane:

with you. So for the last seven years, I've loved helping people

Karen Kissane:

to build impact led highly profitable businesses. Strategy

Karen Kissane:

is an important part of the puzzle. Of course it is, but

Karen Kissane:

there's no point having an amazing strategy if you don't

Karen Kissane:

have the tech and the tools to implement that strategy. So a

Karen Kissane:

couple of years ago, I founded a tech platform called expert

Karen Kissane:

space, and this is great. I can give people the strategy. I love

Karen Kissane:

strategy. It's what I'm known for, it's what I'm good at, it's

Karen Kissane:

what I've been doing for the last seven years. But it can

Karen Kissane:

even more powerful when I can give people the strategy, but

Karen Kissane:

also the tools to implement that strategy, because you can't have

Karen Kissane:

one without being there. There's no point having a brilliant

Karen Kissane:

strategy but not being able to drag it forward. And also,

Karen Kissane:

there's no point having amazing tech and tools if you don't have

Karen Kissane:

the right things to put into the systems, rubbish in, rubbish

Karen Kissane:

out. You may have heard me mention this before, so this was

Karen Kissane:

really about me, thinking, what do people need? And how can I

Karen Kissane:

give it to them? I'm massively driven by results and outcomes

Karen Kissane:

as so much I've moved away from sharing information. I'm not

Karen Kissane:

about sharing information. I'm about here's here's what you

Karen Kissane:

mean, and here's how we make it happen. I prefer to help my

Karen Kissane:

clients to get the results by not telling them, but showing

Karen Kissane:

them, or in some cases, actually doing it with them as well.

Unknown:

It doesn't matter how good your strategy is, if you

Unknown:

are spending all day looking at a plan and not driving it

Unknown:

forward, or if you can get out of your own way of where you're

Unknown:

procrastinating like crazy, that's not going to get you to

Unknown:

where you want to get to. So couple of years ago, I found

Unknown:

myself like, I've got the strategy. Let's marry the

Unknown:

strategy up with the tech and the tools and the systems,

Unknown:

because systems and processes are the things that carry the

Unknown:

load in your business. Often, and particularly with my one on

Unknown:

one clients, they come to me often with a hot mess business,

Unknown:

and they've created some amazing. Success they're making

Unknown:

for revenue months. They have got so many offers and so many

Unknown:

funnels and so many things that are happening behind the scenes

Unknown:

in their business. It gets to the point that often they're

Unknown:

running a circus, not a business. And so then we look at

Unknown:

the systems and processes to help get them to the next level,

Unknown:

and that's what every single business needs. The systems and

Unknown:

processes are the things that like, save your neck, that give

Unknown:

you, give you some respite in your business. The systems and

Unknown:

processes are things that you can counter so that you are not

Unknown:

elbow deep in your business every day. So we take the

Unknown:

strategy, we add the systems and the processes, we add the tech

Unknown:

and the tools, and all of a sudden, you've got a business

Unknown:

there. Means that it can run without you. It can give you

Unknown:

some of your time back. It means that you don't have to go on

Unknown:

holiday and feel like you're a slave to your business. You can

Unknown:

start to step away. And I always love the phrase I use this a

Unknown:

lot, automate first and outsource second. I think it's

Unknown:

really important you don't need to have a zillion people in your

Unknown:

team helping you behind the scenes. Maybe you'll have a few

Unknown:

like I do seven years ago, or a few years ago, I had seven

Unknown:

members of my team all doing different things. One business

Unknown:

was complicated. Now there's two or three of us. We've got the

Unknown:

tech and the tools that are carrying the load for us. This

Unknown:

is what technology will do. This is what systems and processes

Unknown:

will do so this is the burst of acubusiness movement, because

Unknown:

what I realized I was doing with my clients is I was helping them

Unknown:

to make smart, intelligent, simple shifts in their business,

Unknown:

if you like, not hats in terms of cutting corners, adjustments,

Unknown:

millimeter, micrometer adjustments that were making all

Unknown:

the difference for them. This was running a smart, intelligent

Unknown:

business. It was taking their hot mess business and turning it

Unknown:

into something that ran like chock work was really

Unknown:

streamlined and systemized. And for me, this is, this makes my

Unknown:

heart saying this is like, this is what we have to get to in

Unknown:

business. Because if you got a ball and chain around your leg,

Unknown:

if you can't go on holiday without having to check in or do

Unknown:

things, or worse still, maybe it's worse. I don't know. It

Unknown:

depends who's you're asking the question to. But what if you

Unknown:

what if your business only makes sales, if you are the person

Unknown:

making the sales. I can't think of anything worse. It's like,

Unknown:

what if you want to step back? What if you don't want to make

Unknown:

sales one day? Feel like the people who are solely

Unknown:

responsible for bringing sales into the business don't really

Unknown:

have a business. They have a job, a job that's potentially

Unknown:

24/7 so we've got to change that. We know we've got to

Unknown:

change that. So we've got the strategy, we've got the systems

Unknown:

and processes and the tech and the tools. We've got a smart,

Unknown:

intelligent adjustments that are making one a heck of a

Unknown:

difference to people's businesses. By stepping

Unknown:

themselves out of the business, the business running in the

Unknown:

background is bringing in the sales. It's giving them freedom

Unknown:

and time and impact a tick in all of those boxes. This is

Unknown:

amazing. Okay, so what happens when you start to feel

Unknown:

exhausted, or you're working a little bit too hard and you

Unknown:

notice the signs of burnout, or you notice that you're slipping

Unknown:

into hustle mode and you don't want to be because you know this

Unknown:

isn't going to help. We all know that hustle mode does not help

Unknown:

us to build businesses. It's really, really hard to stop

Unknown:

getting into that situation. I see it time and time, all the

Unknown:

time with my clients, the feeling of having to push harder

Unknown:

to get more is unsustainable, and frankly, it doesn't work.

Unknown:

The harder you push, the more you get away from the very thing

Unknown:

that you're working towards. So sometimes we've got to undo a

Unknown:

lot of the beliefs we have around hard work and business,

Unknown:

and sometimes it comes from childhood or it comes from past

Unknown:

stories that we've told ourselves. We've got to undo

Unknown:

that. We've got to feel great. And a massive part we feel great

Unknown:

in business is to boost our energy, to make sure that we are

Unknown:

energized, and we're bringing a great sense of energy into our

Unknown:

business every day. But I have a strategy. You got to have the

Unknown:

systems and the means to implement that strategy, but

Unknown:

you've got to feel amazing as well. You've got to you've got

Unknown:

to feel like you are optimized. Your business needs to be

Unknown:

optimized, and you need to be optimized. And so this is how

Unknown:

the story of the biohacking business movement came about.

Unknown:

Because what I started to notice is that my clients were getting

Unknown:

great results. Some of them were they were pushing really hard,

Unknown:

and I was having one heck of the job of trying to get him to slow

Unknown:

down and be be more intentional with what they were working on.

Unknown:

And that's not easy. What I noticed as that is that there

Unknown:

was things that I could help them with, that I was bringing

Unknown:

into my own life and business, that I started bringing into my

Unknown:

clients lives and business, like the things that I do. To feel

Unknown:

energized in the morning the buyer hacks that I was already

Unknown:

doing to get the very best out of myself. When I stepped that

Unknown:

one day, I realized, actually I'm helping my clients optimize

Unknown:

their business. But actually, what if I had them to optimize

Unknown:

themselves as well? And that powerful combination of

Unknown:

optimized business and optimized you really is where the

Unknown:

exponential growth, like, if we plug away with chip away at a

Unknown:

strategy, we're going to get linear growth. But if we, if we

Unknown:

bring in the work that we need to do on ourselves, and we'll

Unknown:

talk about what those things might be in a minute, that's

Unknown:

when the doors open for exponential growth. So I just

Unknown:

had this really big light bulb moment one day, it was that

Unknown:

okay, I'm people are optimizing their businesses with my help.

Unknown:

What if we optimize them as well? Because ultimately, this

Unknown:

is what I'm doing. And it became a movement where my own, my own

Unknown:

passion, fire hacking, started to filter into my clients

Unknown:

businesses. And this was the most joyful thing I've done in

Unknown:

probably the entire duration of my business because this is when

Unknown:

people started to feel great, the shifts in their habits, the

Unknown:

supplements that they can take to boost their cognitive

Unknown:

ability, the lion's mane, binaural beats, the deep work,

Unknown:

the dig, the breast work, the meditation, the cool therapy,

Unknown:

the hot therapy, all of these things, like not all of them at

Unknown:

the same time, of course, but when you start to bring in some

Unknown:

of these things into your business in a in a strategic

Unknown:

way, that's when you realize the power of what you bring to the

Unknown:

table. That's when you realize that strategy alone is not

Unknown:

enough. So this realization that I have, what if I bring this and

Unknown:

this and we we expand all of it together, it was incredible. And

Unknown:

this is the story of the biohack your business movement and how

Unknown:

it all began. It's the optimization of your business,

Unknown:

it's the optimization of you, and it's the power of bringing

Unknown:

both of these things together. And then the pieces of the

Unknown:

puzzle literally started dropping into place. So where I

Unknown:

realized it is okay, I'm a business coach. I love helping

Unknown:

people with their strategy. We know that's important. You can't

Unknown:

build a business with that strategy. I mean, of course, you

Unknown:

can't. You'd be running up and down the field all the time and

Unknown:

never scoring. So we need the strategy. Okay, that's what I'm

Unknown:

doing already. Well, what about the systems and the tech and the

Unknown:

tools? Okay, so I have a tech platform called expert space.

Unknown:

Okay, this is a really important part of the puzzle as well. This

Unknown:

is already in place. Okay, so what am I doing in terms of my

Unknown:

own health and longevity and energy? Well, I'm doing all of

Unknown:

these things from a bio hacking perspective already. I am fast

Unknown:

approaching 50. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life, to

Unknown:

the point where people say to me, Karen, what's your secret?

Unknown:

And I'm like, okay, eye hacking is my secret. How can I get this

Unknown:

out to more people? How can I share this with more people?

Unknown:

Because the secret to feeling amazing is knowing yourself, and

Unknown:

when you know what you need to do to optimize you, just like

Unknown:

we're doing in our businesses, that's when it becomes really

Unknown:

powerful. That's when our energy increases, and that's when we

Unknown:

have this, we have this untapped supply of energy that we can

Unknown:

feed into our business. And then I started to think, Oh, my God,

Unknown:

I've got a biology degree as well. I studied biomedical

Unknown:

sciences at university. I have a fascination with biology, human

Unknown:

biology, how the human body works, even though it feels like

Unknown:

it was a very long time ago that I was at university studying

Unknown:

biomedical sciences, this is a passion. It's never left me.

Unknown:

How can I tap into and leverage my interest

Unknown:

in biology? And when I realize this,

Unknown:

it all just started falling into place. I was like, strategy,

Unknown:

tech and systems, leverage, simplicity, age, longevity,

Unknown:

energy, biology. Have you ever had a moment where you just

Unknown:

think the writing's on the wall is staring me in the face? I've

Unknown:

got to do something with this. And that's true. The biohack

Unknown:

your business idea was born. I was running a retreat. I was

Unknown:

helping my retreat goers with their strategy. We were running

Unknown:

day two, which was the biohacking day of the retreat.

Unknown:

They felt amazing. They were doing things like headstands.

Unknown:

They were they were doing press ups and blasting through their

Unknown:

previous best on press ups in a kind of controlled experiment. I

Unknown:

was seeing firsthand what was possible with applying

Unknown:

ourselves, that that strong mindset shift the tap. Into our

Unknown:

energy, cold water therapy, the visualization, the meditation,

Unknown:

the breath work, the focus, the clarity and the motivation that

Unknown:

we get from biohacking. So this year has been really pivotal.

Unknown:

The bio hack your business movement has been created,

Unknown:

building a bio Hack Your Business Mastermind. We've got

Unknown:

15 people in it at the moment, beta testing it, and it's

Unknown:

incredible. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the future

Unknown:

of business. There is no doubt in my mind that this is what

Unknown:

people need. If you're building a business and you're following

Unknown:

a strategy, or you're trying to follow a strategy and it's not

Unknown:

working. Or if you're finding it hard to even follow a strategy

Unknown:

because there's something getting in the way that's just

Unknown:

stopping you from doing what you need to do, even if you've got

Unknown:

the tech and the tools and you put in the stuff out there, it's

Unknown:

not going to help. If you're feeling exhausted or tired or

Unknown:

not energized, if you're getting up in the morning feeling a

Unknown:

sense of dread, and you don't have a spring in your stair and

Unknown:

you don't feel like you're bringing the best of yourself to

Unknown:

your business. If your mindset is not where it needs to be, if

Unknown:

your energy is not where it needs to be, if any of these

Unknown:

things are not clicking into place, you got to find that it's

Unknown:

impacting on your business. It's going to going to affect how

Unknown:

much money you make. It's going to affect how productive you

Unknown:

are. It's going to affect how you show up every single day,

Unknown:

whether that's on social media or on the calls to your clients.

Unknown:

It's going to have a massive effect on your business. And you

Unknown:

might be listening to this thinking, this is what I'm

Unknown:

seeing right now. Let me tell you, it's not your fault,

Unknown:

because strategy alone is not enough. You need way more than

Unknown:

strategy to build the business that you really aspire to have,

Unknown:

and that's why I am so excited about this buyer hack your

Unknown:

business movement. We're bringing together strategy.

Unknown:

We're bringing together the tech and the tools through expert

Unknown:

space. We're bringing together the energy and the buyer hacking

Unknown:

and this self, personal optimization. Imagine what is

Unknown:

possible with all of these things in place. It's

Unknown:

incredible. It blows my mind to even think about what the future

Unknown:

looks like for entrepreneurs, because it is a movement. My

Unknown:

vision for this is huge, and the story of how I arrived at ACE

Unknown:

was wanting to get the best out of myself. Of course, I do,

Unknown:

wanting to make sure that the energy that I bring into my

Unknown:

business doesn't start depleting when I hate perimenopause or

Unknown:

menopause, which is an inevitability for women who are

Unknown:

in their 40s and 50s and beyond. I don't want to be waking up in

Unknown:

the morning feeling like I don't have the energy, or if I've got

Unknown:

brain fog, or any of these things that, frankly, we hear as

Unknown:

horror stories. That's not negotiable for me. Now, of

Unknown:

course, some of it I might not have any choice about, but I

Unknown:

have a phenomenal amount of control over my my health, my

Unknown:

well being, my mindset, my energy. And that's what I

Unknown:

started doing. I started taking control over my health, and I

Unknown:

started seeing how this was really great for my business.

Unknown:

And then I started realizing that this is what my clients

Unknown:

needed as well. And so I started sharing what I was doing with my

Unknown:

clients. And then I realized, oh my god, I'm doing the strategy.

Unknown:

I'm doing the tech and the tools with expert at space. I'm

Unknown:

bringing in my energy, and how can my clients build their

Unknown:

energy? I'm sharing the supplements I'm taking and the

Unknown:

the deep work that I'm doing and my strategies and the day to day

Unknown:

things, or the week to week things that I'm and I'm really

Unknown:

leveraging. This is about leverage and leverage. It's like

Unknown:

one of the best words in the dictionary, leverages. I joke

Unknown:

amongst my clients that leverage is my middle name. We leverage

Unknown:

business. We build a slick, smart, streamlined business.

Unknown:

Leverage is getting more from less. So we can do that in

Unknown:

business. Great. The concept and the idea and being able to do

Unknown:

this in business is incredibly powerful. What if we can now

Unknown:

apply the principles of leverage to ourselves as well? This is

Unknown:

the big game changer. This is what so few people are doing.

Unknown:

And this is honestly, my friends. This is the missing

Unknown:

piece of the entrepreneurial puzzle, and this is how the

Unknown:

biohack your business movement was born. I really hope you've

Unknown:

enjoyed this episode where I take you through the story, the

Unknown:

stages of how this all started and where it's going in the

Unknown:

future. If you love the idea of this, I'm building a complete

Unknown:

solution for entrepreneurs, where every aspect of your

Unknown:

business and you is taken care of, if you love the idea of

Unknown:

this, if you want to know how to improve your energy, if you want

Unknown:

to know how to optimize yourself and your business, if you want

Unknown:

the best strategies and systems and processes along with the

Unknown:

Tech. Can the tools to make all of this happen so that you know

Unknown:

that you do your best work when you look after yourself, because

Unknown:

when you feel great, you do great. Then I'd love to invite

Unknown:

you to join my biohack your business wait list, and if you

Unknown:

want to book a call with me, reach out to me at any time you.
