Alright, so today I've got the final six food swaps for you, so let's get to it.

Starting with weight loss, food swap number six.

Speaker:

Go with mushrooms instead of meat.

Speaker:

It doesn't have to be all the time, but every once in a while, why

Speaker:

not switch out mushrooms for meat?

Speaker:

Because mushrooms are seriously a fantastic swap for meat when

Speaker:

you're trying to eat healthier and shed some extra pounds.

Speaker:

Now, I do realize that about, and I looked it up, 29% of the population.

Speaker:

Dislikes mushrooms.

Speaker:

I, however, do not fall into that category.

Speaker:

I love mushrooms.

Speaker:

I always have, even from the time I was a kid.

Speaker:

But if you don't like mushrooms, you can tune out for a minute if you do.

Speaker:

Woo-hoo.

Speaker:

Mushrooms are super duper.

Speaker:

Awesome for you.

Speaker:

They're low in calories and they have that meaty texture, which makes your

Speaker:

meals feel satisfying without all the extra fat and calories that sometimes

Speaker:

comes with meat, especially when we are eating a lot of times a lot of red meat.

Speaker:

Um, so if you're trying to cut back on that mushrooms.

Speaker:

Great replacement plus mushrooms are packed with loads of vitamins and minerals

Speaker:

and fiber, and if mushrooms aren't really your thing, listen closely because yes,

Speaker:

eggplant, quinoa, chickpeas, lentils, Tempe, and tofu are all extremely healthy,

Speaker:

plant-based meat replacement choices too.

Speaker:

Moving on to swap number seven.

Speaker:

Hi fries instead of french fries.

Speaker:

OMGI am not gonna lie.

Speaker:

This particular swap was tough.

Speaker:

French fries, especially the beloved, salty, crispy ones that

you can dip in the hot mustard from McDonald's can be so tempting.

Speaker:

So delicious.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

But if you are really serious about losing weight, you absolutely must throw

Speaker:

those greasy spud sticks out the window.

Speaker:

French fries, literally just take a bath in hot oil, loaded with extra calories,

Speaker:

unhealthy fats, and all of that terrible stuff before they land in your mouth.

Speaker:

Plus french fries can be.

Speaker:

Incredibly, as I'm sure many of you know, addictive, making it very, very easy

Speaker:

to gobble down way more than we should.

Speaker:

Alright, so hear me out because I have a really awesome fix for you.

Speaker:

Hi, ma spelled J-I-C-A-M-A.

Speaker:

Uh, it's a root vegetable that is very low carb.

Speaker:

It's a healthy alternative to the potato, which is used

Speaker:

for, of course, french fries.

Speaker:

I started replacing greasy french fries with hickma fries and oh my goodness,

Speaker:

so specifically garlic, parmesan hickma fries that I easily make in my air fryer.

Speaker:

I've got.

Speaker:

The most awesome, easy, delicious, garlic, Parmesan hick of fries recipe for you.

Speaker:

I'm gonna leave it in the show notes along with exactly how to make it, uh,

Speaker:

with a really short video, a how to video that you can check out when you

Speaker:

start replacing greasy french fries With these healthy garlic parmesan

Speaker:

hickma fries, you will be able to.

Speaker:

Easily pass by those golden arches.

Speaker:

Moving on to swap number eight, healthy fresh fruit smoothies.

Speaker:

Instead of wait for it frozen alcoholic drinks.

Speaker:

You know those ones that you like to sip.

Speaker:

By the pool, um, or just have on a Friday night at your favorite Mexican restaurant.

Speaker:

So this swap might sound like a weird one, but it really does work.

Speaker:

Drinking alcohol can most definitely put the breaks on your weight loss

Speaker:

efforts, even if you're eating really healthy and you're exercising every day.

Speaker:

First off, alcohol is packed.

Speaker:

With sneaky calories, they are sneaky because they're empty

Speaker:

calories that do not fill you up.

Speaker:

So it's easy, easy peasy to overdo it without realizing

Speaker:

how much you're consuming.

Speaker:

Plus alcohol can and will definitely slow down your metabolism when you drink.

Speaker:

Your body focuses on breaking down the alcohol instead of burning.

Speaker:

Fat.

Speaker:

Um, this basically translates into putting your weight loss on hold

Speaker:

until all of that booze is out of your system for me, and I bet a whole

Speaker:

bunch of you out there listening.

Speaker:

Drinking alcohol is really a lot about socializing and having a

Speaker:

fancy, bougie drink in your hand while having fun with friends.

Speaker:

So drinking a healthy non-alcoholic smoothie out of

Speaker:

a fancy sassy margarita glass.

Speaker:

It's a fun little trick that really has worked wonders for me.

Speaker:

Just of course, make sure that you are using whole fruit, uh, and not fruit

Speaker:

juice when you are making your smoothie.

Speaker:

Um, you can check that out if you want, but again, making this swap,

can really make a huge difference, along your weight loss journey.

Swap number nine, and I seriously love, love, love this one.

Start snacking on Roasted at a mame instead of greasy potato chips.

Potato chips are definitely not doing your waistline any favors

if you're trying to lose weight.

They are loaded with fat and calories and they really don't have much in the

Speaker:

way of nutrients or fiber, um, or they don't really keep you full either.

Speaker:

If you're craving something salty and crispy and flavorful, you

Speaker:

can try snacking on some roasted at a edamame snacks instead.

Speaker:

And guess what?

Speaker:

Edamame is an awesome complete protein food roasted.

Speaker:

Edamame beans have fewer calories and they are a great high protein, keto

Speaker:

friendly, gluten-free, very healthy snack.

Speaker:

So my absolute favorite brand is definitely the only Bean.

Speaker:

They have five awesome edamame flavors.

Speaker:

Sea salt, wasabi, sriracha, buffalo and ranch.

Speaker:

And the company actually sent me a huge variety pack a few years ago to try.

Speaker:

And I have seriously been hooked ever since.

Uh, but I, I honestly, they are so yummy, so healthy, and.

So regular pizza crust for literally the easiest keto crust.

This smart swap is probably the one that I use, most often.

I love all things pizza.

Speaker:

Um, and that's been, you know, that was really hard to kind of give pizza night

Speaker:

up, but I realized I don't have to.

Speaker:

So traditional pizza crust is made from your refined white flour, which as

Speaker:

we've already discussed, is another very high carb nutrient deficient diet trap.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Instead, I make my very own delicious, gluten-free, keto friendly pizza crust.

Speaker:

And, my husband, this is perfect for him too because in the last couple

Speaker:

years he's become gluten-free, uh, with his gut issues and things like that.

Speaker:

So we do not have traditional pizza crust anymore.

Speaker:

The best part of this, awesome.

Speaker:

Pizza crust, it is so darn easy to make you seriously.

Speaker:

Just mix together four protein rich eggs that are beaten

Speaker:

five ounces Parmesan cheese.

Speaker:

And one tablespoon of your favorite spice.

Speaker:

I personally love to use dill.

Speaker:

I also like to use Italian seasoning, garlic and herb.

Speaker:

The possibilities are truly endless.

Speaker:

So you just mix those three ingredients together, spread the

Speaker:

mixture into a circle, baking dish lined with parchment paper.

Speaker:

Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 22 minutes, and guess what?

Speaker:

You are done, comes out perfect every single time.

Speaker:

It's so fun to experiment, uh, using different spices for this crust.

Speaker:

Then you can make any kind of pizza you want.

Speaker:

You can make regular pizza, cold TKI chicken pizza.

Speaker:

You can even make, and I've only done this once, but it turned out awesome fruit

pizza, that, like cold fruit pizza that you take to, parties as an appetizer.

He definitely has a weakness for ice cream.

And when you've been married for over 25 years, you'll find that

their weaknesses, your, your spouse's weaknesses become your weaknesses.

I mean, we'll go to dinner and then he'll be like, yeah, let's save

Speaker:

some room and stop at Uncle Ray's.

Speaker:

It's like the best, um, homemade ice cream shop in our town.

Speaker:

I mean, if you've ever been to the Fenton, Linden, Holly, Michigan area,

Speaker:

you have got to stop into Uncle Ray's.

Speaker:

Ice cream, the, the best they're open from, I think it's like, um, they only

Speaker:

close from like Christmas to Valentine's Day, and then they're the open the rest

Speaker:

of the year, but there's nothing like it, and they have the happiest workers there.

Speaker:

Okay, I'm on a tangent coming back to Nice cream.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So seriously, everybody loves ice cream.

Speaker:

Unfortunately.

Speaker:

Ice cream is another fun food that is packed.

Speaker:

With weight loss, unfriendly sugars, carbs, and just crap, however.

Speaker:

There's no need to worry because you can make a very low carb, low

Speaker:

sugar, high protein, yummy version of ice cream that will absolutely

Speaker:

satisfy your sweet tooth and.

Speaker:

Keep you on track with your healthy diet and weight loss goals.

Speaker:

You don't need an ice cream maker or any fancy equipment.

Speaker:

Just a few simple clean ingredients and a mason jar, mason Jar ice

Speaker:

cream is seriously so easy to make.

Speaker:

For the basic recipe, you just need some heavy whipping cream,

protein powder, vanilla or almond extract, and a mason jar.

Of course, you can doctor it up with some fruit or other healthy

add-ins like cacao powder.
