Speaker BHello, and welcome back to the Elevated Edit Podcast.
Speaker BToday we are going to talk about something that I think dramatically affects so many people, but specifically affects so many women, and that is apologizing for wanting more.
Speaker BI know I have struggled with this before because our society tells us that wanting more is unattractive.
Speaker BIt's selfish.
Speaker BIt is.
Speaker BSometimes they.
Speaker BThey play it off as, like, oh, like, that's a very, like, aggressive thing.
Speaker BThat's very manly.
Speaker BLike, it's always.
Speaker BAt least from my perspective, being highly ambitious is something that a lot of people do look down on.
Speaker BIt's a very, like, well, why can't you just be happy where you are?
Speaker BWell, you've already achieved a certain amount of success, so why can't you be happy with that?
Speaker BLike, what more could you want?
Speaker BAnd I think that that really.
Speaker BI know for me, it has.
Speaker BIt holds a lot of people back.
Speaker BBut here's the truth.
Speaker BYour desire for more isn't just valid.
Speaker BIt's actually essential ambition.
Speaker BAmbition is not selfish.
Speaker BIt is inspiring.
Speaker BAnd your desire for more can help empower those around you.
Speaker BIf there is one thing I have learned when it comes to, like, being ambitious and going for it and just being like, okay, it's my time.
Speaker BI'm gonna step fully into myself, is that you will realize there's so many people around you that have the same drive and the same vision, and they want more.
Speaker BThey can't always.
Speaker BYou can't always put your finger on what more is.
Speaker BIt's always just more money or more power or more, you know, accolades or more material items.
Speaker BLike, sometimes there's just a more that, you know, is out there.
Speaker BBut when you step into your more whatever, it looks like there's going to be people around you that come up to you and they go, man, you really inspired me.
Speaker BOr, like, you really motivated me to go for it.
Speaker BOr, you.
Speaker BYou motivated me to start that company.
Speaker BYou motivated me to ask for that raise.
Speaker BYou motivated me for whatever it is.
Speaker BLike, there are so many people around you that feel the exact same way that you do, that are just waiting.
Speaker BIt's like we're almost, like, waiting for somebody to go first and be like, okay, I want to see you go first.
Speaker BAnd then I'm going to try it.
Speaker BBut, like, somebody's got to step up and go first.
Speaker BAnd so I think the more women that step into that, you know what?
Speaker BI'm just going to go for it.
Speaker BI'm scared I'm going to do it anyway.
Speaker BAnd it's okay to want more.
Speaker BLike, it's going to motivate and inspire other people around you to go for what they want to go for and go for, you know, go after their dreams.
Speaker BAnd I always try to think about this.
Speaker BI'm like, what if all this rambling, all of these podcast episodes, what if I say one thing one day that inspires one person to do something really big like that?
Speaker BTo me, I would check me off.
Speaker BLike, I'm.
Speaker BThat's it.
Speaker BLike, that to me, is the more that I want.
Speaker BI Even.
Speaker BThis is what I think about sometimes when I am, like, man, I want more.
Speaker BLike, I want this podcast to grow bigger.
Speaker BI want the YouTube channel to grow bigger.
Speaker BLike, I want this to be more.
Speaker BI think, man, what if one woman is out there and she is inspired to take some action and she steps into her version of more, and she's got a kid who is watching her and is like, man, my mom is the best.
Speaker BLike, my mom goes for it.
Speaker BMy mom ain't scared of nothing.
Speaker BMy mom just.
Speaker BShe just steps into her.
Speaker BHer fullest potential of herself.
Speaker BAnd what if that kid grows up and, like, does something really cool?
Speaker BThat, to me, I, like, I'm gonna tear up thinking about it.
Speaker BBecause, like, that, to me is, like, the pinnacle of success, is to inspire someone else to inspire someone else to.
Speaker BTo, like, just take off.
Speaker BThat would.
Speaker BI mean, check me off if I never made a dollar off any of this.
Speaker BThat would be it for me.
Speaker BLike, that's my definition of more.
Speaker BAnd so stepping into your version of more is likely going to inspire other people.
Speaker BAnd, like, that is huge.
Speaker BWe need more of that.
Speaker BWe need more women to be like, you know, what if she did it, so can I.
Speaker BAnd ambition is not about greed or dissatisfaction.
Speaker BLike, I'm so grateful for my life now.
Speaker BI'm so grateful for my friendships and my relationships and my success that I've had so far.
Speaker BBut I.
Speaker BI do want more.
Speaker BAnd for me, it's not about, like, being dissatisfied where I'm at.
Speaker BIt's about growth and purpose and, like, fully expressing who I truly am.
Speaker BBecause I feel like every time I reach a new level, I'm like, okay, I'm.
Speaker BI'm so.
Speaker BI'm so happy.
Speaker BI'm so thankful that I.
Speaker BI made it here.
Speaker BAnd I know there's more.
Speaker BLike, I.
Speaker BI told y'all before, I'm in it.
Speaker BI'm in the game.
Speaker BLike, I love the game, and I think there's always another level.
Speaker BAnd don't mistake that with, like, not being happy and not being grateful and not, you know, just.
Speaker BI thank God all the time.
Speaker BLike, I prayed in the shower this morning.
Speaker BI was like, thank you so much.
Speaker BLike, you are just really the MVP right now.
Speaker BBut I am always like, okay, what's next?
Speaker BLike, how much?
Speaker BWhere.
Speaker BWhere can I grow?
Speaker BWhere can I improve?
Speaker BCan I improve my relationships?
Speaker BCan I improve my friendships?
Speaker BCan I improve, like, my client experience?
Speaker BCan I improve certain parts of the podcast?
Speaker BCan I improve the YouTube channel?
Speaker BLike, I always want to just, like, fine tune and get a little bit better.
Speaker BI think they say, what is it?
Speaker B1% better every day?
Speaker BAnd then at the end of the year, it's like, whoa, I had a ton of growth.
Speaker BAnd when you step into your full expression and your full level of ambition, your courage gives others the permission to pursue their dreams.
Speaker BAnd it's this ripple effect.
Speaker BWhen you stop apologizing for wanting more, you become that beacon for others to also stop apologizing for wanting more.
Speaker BAnd can you imagine if we all just stopped apologizing for wanting more?
Speaker BBecause the truth is, most of us are secretly craving, like, permission.
Speaker BI know for me, for a long time, I was like, I didn't realize that I was waiting for permission, but I was expecting somebody to be like, okay, Blakely, here is your time.
Speaker BLike, here's your capabilities.
Speaker BYou go forward.
Speaker BIt's your time now.
Speaker BAnd I'd be like, okay, here we go.
Speaker BAnd what I've realized is that permission was always there.
Speaker BI just felt guilty about being ambitious.
Speaker BI felt guilty about wanting more.
Speaker BAnd so I didn't fully step into it.
Speaker BAnd fully stepping into that is powerful.
Speaker BAnd so many people have come up to me or they've messaged me, and they've been like, you know what?
Speaker BI listen to that podcast episode and, like, inspired me.
Speaker BOr it made my day better.
Speaker BAnd that, to me, worth way more than money.
Speaker BSeriously, I.
Speaker BAnd don't get me wrong, your girl likes money.
Speaker BBecause I like to buy stuff.
Speaker BI like clothes and jewelry and all the things.
Speaker BBut just hearing that, like, you inspired somebody is powerful.
Speaker BI didn't realize how powerful it was going to be.
Speaker BAnd your boldness can become someone else's blueprint like, you stepping into that space and you forging forward and you like fully going for it.
Speaker BThat can be someone else's blueprint.
Speaker BBecause someone else might need to see someone be ambitious.
Speaker BThey might need to see someone they know step into their full power.
Speaker BThey might need, like, they need to see it and so be that for someone else.
Speaker BAnd then I just like to think of, like, all the relationships that I'm going to have in the future with all these women that I'm inspiring with the women that are like, you know what, I'm gonna go for it.
Speaker BI'm gonna start the business.
Speaker BLike, I, I, when I see a woman start a business, I'm like, how quickly can I get in?
Speaker BHow much can I buy?
Speaker BLike, let me in because I, I want to support you because I know how hard it is and I just, I love seeing women just step into their full power and because I personally don't think that we need to try to be equal.
Speaker BLike, I'm like, let's let us freaking go to the moon.
Speaker BLike, let us, like, we, we are so powerful with like, our intuition and with our ability to be emotionally intelligent and our ability to problem solve.
Speaker BAnd I do not love the word multitask, but we are able to handle a lot of responsibilities at once.
Speaker BAnd I just think that women have so much power and if we unlock that, like, man, it's okay to want more, it's okay to want it all.
Speaker BIt's okay to like, go for it.
Speaker BIt's okay to step into my full power.
Speaker BLike, we are truly unstoppable.
Speaker BSo per usual, I've got some action steps.
Speaker BPractical, practical, practicable.
Speaker BI almost just said practical.
Speaker BWow.
Speaker BWe practical action steps to embrace our ambition so one own your desires.
Speaker BClearly this is something that I take my coaching clients through is a future vision clarity session where they really get clear.
Speaker BI'm like, not a plan.
Speaker BI'm not like, oh, what's your three year plan?
Speaker BBut, like, in three years, what do you want your life to feel like?
Speaker BLike, what do you want your life to look like?
Speaker BWhat do you want your relationships to look like in your friendships and your marriage?
Speaker BAnd what do you want your house to look like?
Speaker BLike, do you want it to be full of, like, antiques and things that really mean a lot to you?
Speaker BOr do you like more like a clean look?
Speaker BWhat do you want for your business?
Speaker BYou want to be traveling?
Speaker BDo you want to be, do you want to have a house full of kids?
Speaker BDo you want to be footless and fancy free?
Speaker BLike, what is your true future vision.
Speaker BAnd once you identify what more looks like for you, you can start to make decisions from that future space instead of just, you know, being reactive to whatever comes to you in the moment.
Speaker BNumber two, be intentional with your circle.
Speaker BSurround yourself with others who encourage your dreams and share your same drive.
Speaker BAs much as I love women and I think women can lift others up, I also think there's a lot of women out there that will try to say things to you and it won't come off as jealousy.
Speaker BBut I consider myself someone who is highly intuitive.
Speaker BI don't like to talk about like, there's some people like, oh, I'm like really sensitive to others energies.
Speaker BIt's like, okay, yeah, a lot of us are, but I will pick up on like when someone makes it offhanded comment really quick.
Speaker BAnd so be careful about who you're around.
Speaker BBe careful who you share your goals and your dreams with because not everyone's going to be happy for you.
Speaker BAnd it's not, it probably has nothing to do with you.
Speaker BIt has everything to do with them.
Speaker BAnd so just filter the feedback that you get.
Speaker BBut also like, extend love to them and in the back of your mind be like, you know what, maybe I'll inspire them to step into their own full power.
Speaker BAnd then they'll be like, you know what?
Speaker BThis whole time I was just jealous.
Speaker BWe're all, we're on this path together.
Speaker BSo be very intentional on your circle.
Speaker BThree, eliminate apologies from your vocabulary.
Speaker BThis one's way easier said than done.
Speaker BI did not realize I was so bad at this.
Speaker BBut I like, I'll literally like, somebody will crash into me on the sidewalk and I'll be like, oh, I'm so sorry.
Speaker BIt's just an automatic reaction.
Speaker BI think a lot of women do this.
Speaker BI hardly ever, ever hear men do this.
Speaker BYou don't hear men go, oh, I'm so sorry that I, that, you know, you just stepped on my toe.
Speaker BI'm so sorry.
Speaker BLiterally somebody like smacked me in the elbow the other day with the door.
Speaker BIt was not, it was an accident, but I apologized and so stop apologizing.
Speaker BPay attention when you apologize unnecessarily because those little moments where you apologize, it's going to leak into the big moments.
Speaker BAnd so if you are sitting there and you're like, man, I really want to go for this dream.
Speaker BI, I really am like motivated to do this, but I just can't.
Speaker BLike, I feel, I just, I feel bad even dreaming that I, I'm so sorry.
Speaker BI'm sorry, everyone, that I have a big dream, like, eliminate apologies like that from your vocabulary.
Speaker BI.
Speaker BI know a lot of.
Speaker BI'm raising my hand because I'm the worst at this.
Speaker BI'm really trying to practice not say, saying, oh, I'm sorry.
Speaker BOh, I'm so sorry.
Speaker BI'm sorry.
Speaker BI probably say I'm sorry like, a hundred times a day.
Speaker BNo joke.
Speaker BSo.
Speaker BSomething I'm working on, too.
Speaker BEasier said than done.
Speaker BNumber four, embrace discomfort as growth.
Speaker BY'all know I love talking about sitting in discomfort.
Speaker BIt is not always fun.
Speaker BIt is not fun.
Speaker BIt is not fun.
Speaker BBut discomfort is normal when you step outside of societal expectations.
Speaker BAnd I have found that my best growth has been from periods where I have allowed myself to just be like, you know what?
Speaker BThis isn't comfortable.
Speaker BI'm not feeling great feelings right now.
Speaker BI am not loving this, but I know on the other side of this, it's going to be so worth it.
Speaker BAnd just using that as fuel is so powerful.
Speaker BSo embrace discomfort is growth.
Speaker BAnd then number five, share your journey.
Speaker BOpenly discuss your ambitions and dreams with others who you can trust, who also have big ambitions and big dreams, and normalize ambition and.
Speaker BAnd inspire those around you.
Speaker BShow up on social media, show up in whatever, you know, space that you're in, and just be like, you know what?
Speaker BI've got big ambitions and I've got big dreams and I've got big goals, and I'm going to go for it.
Speaker BAnd people might judge you, and that's okay.
Speaker BMost of them are going to judge you because they want to do the same thing.
Speaker BAnd I can say that because I've been that person who sat over on the sidelines and I judged everybody that was playing, playing on the field.
Speaker BAnd I was like, if I was on the field, I could do way better than that.
Speaker BIt's like, okay, girl, then go get on the field.
Speaker BWhat's she doing sitting on the sidelines talking about everybody?
Speaker BI wasn't even sitting on the sidelines.
Speaker BI was sitting up in the nosebleeds gossiping about everybody.
Speaker BAnd when I got really honest with myself, I was like, oh, I'm jealous.
Speaker BI'm jealous.
Speaker BBecause that woman is highly ambitious.
Speaker BShe wanted more and she went for it.
Speaker BAnd I'm too scared to go for it it.
Speaker BAnd that was a huge realization to me.
Speaker BI mean, you want to talk about a slap in the face?
Speaker BIt was an eye opener.
Speaker BAnd that was when I was really able to, like, start growing and start looking at others and being like, you know what?
Speaker BInstead of being jealous of her, I'm inspired by her.
Speaker BLike, if she did it with her challenges and her setbacks and her limitations, I can do it, too.
Speaker BLike, I have no excuse.
Speaker BAnd sharing your journey with others, too, like, this is something really cool that I've been experiencing lately is I'll have a big crazy dream that I think is just the wildest thing in the world, and I'll say it out loud to someone and they're like, blakely, that's really cool.
Speaker BLike, that's a good idea.
Speaker BYou should totally do that.
Speaker BI'm like, what?
Speaker BReally?
Speaker BThey're like, yeah, why?
Speaker BWhy aren't you doing it right now?
Speaker BAnd so it can just, like, normalize wanting more.
Speaker BNormalize wanting big and wanting more and wanting those ambitious things and just really going for it.
Speaker BAnd if you need a hype woman, message me on Instagram at the Blakely Ramsey.
Speaker BYou can type out a message, but you all know I love a voice chat.
Speaker BSo pick up that phone, tell me your big ambitions, and I will send you the most hype message you have ever received in your whole life.
