We're going to talk about yet another movie pulled from the release schedule.

We're going to talk a little bit about TV Skeleton crew and or and it wouldn't be completely November without some Black Friday deals, some goodness and some new releases.

We might even wrap up with something from the rumor mill.

It's been a little bit sparse actually over the last few months and actually it's just felt, it's just felt like we've been repeating ourselves a little bit.

New movies, announced cancellations, trolls, people complaining they don't like anything.

It's been a little bit repetitive.

So because of that, we're actually going to be taking December off after this week.

We will be taking a little bit of a hiatus and we're going to be coming back on January 18th with a review of the hall of Skeleton Crew that comes out early December and it runs right through to the 14th of January.

So once that's finished, we can get into something me to give it one of our famous reviews and go deep on that one.

So we'll be back after this episode on January 18th.

What have I been Star wars in now, really?

Oh, I've sunk another.

Another few hours into Star Wars Outlaws.

I feel like it's one of those games where a bit like you with the Living Force book.

I feel like I'm not making too much head ground headway with it, but I'm chipping away.

You know that feeling where you not progressing massively.

But yeah, you're chipping away.

So I'm on Tatooine actually at the moment, which is kind of cool.

There's like a few Easter eggs dotted around on there.

You can go to.

Go to Lal's homestead and see.

You can't see any burning skeletons.

Nothing like that.

It's no, you know, nothing like that.

They've put none of that.

Yeah, but you can go there and have a look and you got Jabba's palace and all that stuff and you can chip around and.

And do that stuff.

It's kind of cool.

There's a bit of nostalgia on that one, but, yeah, other than that, dude, nothing.

What about you?

Not a ton.

Just getting through this.

Galactic Empire, rise and fall.

Nearly finished that one actually.

So I'll have that done before the old holiday.

It's really good.

So it seems to dip a little bit in the middle, but it is very, very good.

So I've been enjoying that.

So, yes, I'll stick that on my Goodreads or whatever we use in these days.

The kids.

Now, let's get to a few stories then.

So we've got.

We've got a few different, I suppose a few different types of story today.

We've got the usual, oh, look, a movie's been pulled.

But we also do have a few rumors and it's Black Friday coming up actually next week.

So we're gonna get.

Some things tend to get released, which is quite good.

So we'll talk about all of that stuff.

But we are going to start with.

An anonymous source has told the Hollywood Reporter that Rey Skywalker is played by Daisy Ridley will reportedly appear in several upcoming movies, not just.

Not just the new Jedi Order, one that we know is in development.

We don't know how far that's got, but we know it's in development.

But allegedly, this source says that she's the most valuable cinematic asset, Anakin Luke, but also that she's gonna be moving forward in several, several films.

So I, I do sort of get this, dude.

I sort of get this.

If this is true.

I mean, it's a anonymous source.

Who knows if it is true.

I do understand it, you know, young woman, Skywalker name, you know, like it or not, but I think I'm not.

I don't want to say this to sound disparaging to the character or today's a Ridley, because I like both.

I don't think Ray was particularly fleshed out very well in the original trilogy, but then was Luke.

I don't know.

Who knows?

But it doesn't feel particularly strong.

I feel like every other trilogy has had several strong characters.

So Luke, Leia and Han were obviously the perfect trifecta and strength in numbers there.

They appealed to different people, different reasons, and the same, I think in the prequel trilogy, you know, Anakin, Obi Wan, and in the Phantom Menace, you had Liam Neeson, you know, really commanding presence.

So I don't.

I don't know, man.

I, I see this.

I see why this could be a thing.

But I, I just.

I don't know how strong the character is because it just feels a bit underdeveloped.

But then you can't develop it without making more movies.

So I sort of, you know, you can't chicken and egg that.

So I don't know.

I'm.

I suppose I'm a bit ambivalent on it, as always now with Star Wars, I'm a bit ambivalent on it.

What do you make of it?

Yeah, again, I see this.

I see why they're trying to push this a little bit.

I think most of me thinks this is a good move.

I'll tell you why.

It's because I saw something the other day.

It was at one of the various Star wars blogs or whatever.

I think it was Screen Rant actually.

And they were saying that the headline was Star wars is the Star Wars's main problem is that it's a nostalgia machine.

And it's difficult to keep recreating nostalgia.

And I, I Read that.

And I thought, oh, it's another clickbaity thing.

And then the more I thought about it, I was like, they might have a point there.

You know, when you keep having to regurgitate pockets of time around the original trilogy and having to come up with new stuff, but also very familiar at the same time, it does become a bit of a challenge, and especially for Star wars fans of our age, not that old, but you know, the older crew who relies to a degree on some of that nostalgic, sort of nice warm fuzzy feeling.

When you watch Star wars, you can only run on that for so long.

So I think this is a good move to say, like, okay, we've already got a new ish established character.

Let's just bloody run with that.

There's probably a cynical part of me that thinks we've got nothing else.

We haven't got anything else.

So Ray's as good as we're going to get.

So I think this is a good move overall.

I think if you're going to choose a character and push through into new Star wars territory and do new stuff, it might as well be Ray, dude.

So, yeah, I can see why they're doing it, but it's like you said, this chicken and egg thing, you have to, you have to put content out in order to flesh out the character a bit more.

But you got to take that, that, those steps to do it, you know, So I get it.

Yeah, it's a tough thing in it.

I think it's.

You're right, nostalgia is such a big part of it, but at the same time it's, it's that we've talked about it 10 times over the last two months.

Like just the fact that if you move away from nostalgia, you just get the assholes online.

And we've said it before, like Star wars is just in a very unique position in that it's got that problem, you know, it's, it's not, it's not like Marvel or DC where it's like, well, that's not comic accurate.

Yeah, it's an interpretation of.

And a lot of the people will be fine with that.

Whereas with Star wars, it's, oh, it's not Luke, it's not Anakin, you know, and it's, we talked about it again in the, the sequel trilogy to some people.

Force awakens is 10 year old next year.

You know, if you, if that's, that's like us in 2009 with the Phantom Menace.

And it's, it's a weird scenario in that you, you know that those, those movies will be the introduction to Star wars for so many people.

And these characters will be the Star wars characters, you know, not the old guy, you know, not that old guy that was, that was stood there.

It'll be someone else.

And it's, it's just, it's sort of weird that they've always got to tread this so carefully because they, you know, it's, it's almost like it'll be easier to do this in 50 years time or 60 years time when we're all dead because you know what I mean?

Because we're not, you know, the mid-40s guys now.

We're not going to go on, you know, in 50, 60 years.

I'm going to go on social media and below.

This is crap.

You know, it'll just be fresh, hopefully.

Yeah, I think, I don't think we've got it as one of our stories this week, but Jude Law was interviewed recently and he said that he's really, really nervous about skeleton crew going out because he's seen, he's seen what's happened in the past with Star wars actors being absolutely destroyed because of something they've done in Star wars because of this very reason.

It's like you've got the old crew who were just, you know, we need more, we need more Star wars to make me feel like I did when I watched Star Wars.

But then you also got a.

Cater to.

It's such a unique.

You're right, dude.

It's.

They're in such a unique position with it where it's.

I, we've said it many times.

I certainly wouldn't want this job.

Years ago I really wanted to.

It's like, oh, what's your dream job?

You know, other than working, you know, doing what I'm doing now, of course.

But what's your dream job?

I'd love to work at like Pixar or, you know, Lucasfilm making Star wars stuff.

But now, gee, I don't know, man.

I honestly don't know.

Yeah, and that's such a shame that someone like Du Law feels like that.

It's not like he's not accomplished.

It's not like he's done good work.

It's not like he's pretty well revered and, you know, I just think it's a symptom of the, the world that we're in at the minute with social media and so on.

But we'll see how that goes.

We'll see what happens with that one.

But it's not helping the next new news article is that reported by variety last week.

December 18, 2026, we were going to get a Star wars movie.

Now we don't know which one it was going to be, but we were going to get one.

Now we're not.

Now we're getting Ice Age 6, which I'm up for.

Arguably a better film than whatever we're going to get.

I like it.

Yeah, probably better.

I do like, I do like Ice Edge, but I don't know which movie this was going to be.

So it means that we've only got only the Mandalorian and Grogu.

Now it's, it's weird this because if you like, if you think back pre Marvel, when did we get more than one Star wars movie in a year?

Like you got one every, what, two or three years?

Like before 2008, what we had the prequels, but now it's like, oh, we're only going to get one Star wars movie in 2026.

And you're like, oh, that's fine, that's cool, that's all right.

But at the same time, it's like we've said before.

And actually I want to say this, but then I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll underpin it with something slightly different.

It's like we've said before, they keep dropping these movies and pulling these movies out.

However, how often does this happen in the cinema ecosystem, the movie making Hollywood ecosystem, where you pencil a dating and it just doesn't happen.

You swap it out, but because it's Star wars, it's under the microscope, it's a big problem.

It's an issue.

So again, is it, you know, we get, we're getting a Star wars movie in one year, do we need two?

Probably not.

Probably not.

It's cool.

It's totally cool.

So I'm, I've got, I can see both sides of this, you know, it being a problem, but at the same time not.

And I think it, for me it just comes back down to that.

Stop freaking announcing.

Yes, agreed.

We're in this, we're in this position, aren't we, where we've been spoiled, really, with Star wars content.

A lot of people will complain, right?

They'll say since the Disney buyout, they've ruined Star wars and all the rest of it.

But, and there's also the question of Star wars fatigue as well.

I think that's something that's been, that's been knocked about for a While.

But we have had a lot of content over the last few years, dude.

As well as.

Not so much in the way of films, but certainly over at Disney plus we've had loads of Star wars stuff.

And yeah, now this has happened.

It's like other franchises like Transformers, I guess, and some of the Marvel stuff.

You know those big franchises where you get like one film, like you said, every few years.

It's like fans are like, oh, this is amazing.

We're gonna get another film in like 2027.

Oh, brilliant.

I can't wait for that.

But where it's Star Wars.

Yeah, it's like, oh, you're only getting one film this year.

Oh, this is outra.

This is absolutely outrageous.

So we guessed, didn't we, that this was going to be that new Jedi Order film?

I think when we, when we spoke about, oh, Star wars has got two or three films slated for 2025, we were like, well, Mandu and Grogu's already been announced for May, so the other one's probably.

What do we say at the time?

I'm sure it was the new Jedi Order film with Rey, because we were talking about, you know, because at that point production was in full swing pre production anyway, and we thought, well, that's not bags of time to do the visual effects, everything, but they could still do it.

So I'm wondering if it was that one.

But I don't know, man.

I mean, any other franchise, it wouldn't necessarily be a problem.

The only thing I can think of that's kind of similar is Marvel keep pulling the Blade film.

I think fans are getting a bit miffed with that now because they keep moving it around.

But if it's any other franchise, it wouldn't be a problem.

But because Disney have made a rod for their own back where they keep doing this thing where it's like, here's an announcement.

Nope, it's not happening now.

Here's a film.

No, we're not doing it now.

Here's a release date.

No, we're not doing it now.

It's just.

It's really starting to gray on people.

So I think that's kind of justified, dude, for people to have a little bit of the hump.

Not a bit.

Not because we're only getting one Star wars film, but more so it's just like you keep telling us we're getting stuff and then.

And then you pull it.

I think that's the problem.

Yeah, I think.

I agree.

I think that's the bigger issue.

This is just a symptom of it.

We'll just have to see on it again.

We've talked about this before.

I'm sort of just not really that interested.

Like I only really care about something now when there's actual footage.

That's, that's where I just am with it at the minute because I don't, I just don't think we can guarantee anything else.

So we'll see on that one.

We'll.

We'll see, man.

We do know that skeleton crew is coming along and one of the, one of the co creators, Chris Ford has spoken to screen ran about really where this fits in the timeline.

We know it takes place post Return the Jedi in that Mando verse space.

So whether that is the five year period where the mando started or much later, you know, eight, nine, ten years after, who knows.

But one of the interesting things here that Chris has said, Chris, like I know him, has said, is why they chose that period.

And it's not so that it can tie to everyone else.

And we know there'll probably be cameos and some scoundrels making appearances all well and good, but he said that the reason for setting it like this and putting it here is that actually there needs to be a little bit of a space for people to go and get lost and not get bailed out by other people.

So if you think about it in the High Republic, if you set the.

And this is what he goes on to say.

If you set it in the High Republic like some missing kids in a spaceship gonna get whipped out by a, you know, a do good a Jedi really quickly because there's tens of thousands of them.

If you set it during the reign of the Empire, they're going to get picked up by the Empire because the space lanes and so eventually they'll come across some stormtroopers and they'll just pick them up.

And he just said that.

It just seemed a very logical place to put this because although the New Republic's there, they've not really got this together all that much.

That as we know they're certainly not as they don't have a military.

They're not as prominent throughout the Gar galaxy as we've seen in the Mandalorian on Tatooine and wherever else.

Everything's still a little bit Wild Westy.

We've seen it on Coruscant with Senator Z and, and Harrison Duller and Ahsoka.

You know, not everything's going well there.

Resources are low.

So it just said there's room for pirates and Scoundrels.

But we needed to give room for pirates and scoundrels.

You know, we needed the ability for someone to go and get lost for a little bit and without the worry of.

Of, I suppose, the backlash, because you would.

You get the b.

That wouldn't have happened, you know, so it just feels.

It just reckons it feels like a good time space to.

To set this and.

And.

And to.

To give it room to breathe, which I quite like.

I think it's time for something fresh, you know, I think it'll be quite nice.

We know we'll get some cameos and whatever else, but I.

I just seems like it's got a reasonably clean slate and the time period seems to fit that.

Yes, agreed.

No, I agree with this, mate.

I think this is a good.

A good shout because it's the Marvel TV issue.

Otherwise you think about a lot of the Marvel TV stuff that's on Disney plus where you've got like one or two people knocking around saving the whole of New York or the planet, whatever.

There's no way that a lot of those stories would happen and all of the Avengers are just on vacation somewhere.

Yeah, you know, it's like, come on.

At some point, one of the Avengers would have shown up and just handled this, and away we go.

Of course, the biggest example is like, Eternals, and I wouldn't have.

Yeah, no chance.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So I know that doesn't make for very good storytelling, but, you know, if you've got your, you know, what's the word?

Pedantic, you know, couple of pints down, hat on.

Oh, yeah.

Well, you know.

Well, I don't agree with the Avengers thing because, you know, Thor would have turned up and got him over after this episode three.

So I totally get it.

You know, you can't have Jedi knocking around to save the day.

You can't have the Empire knocking around to, you know, to put a spanner in the works.

You've got to have a little bit of breathing room just to tell a good story.

So, yeah, I'm up for this, mate.

I think this is a good shout.

Yeah, I agree.

I think it'll be quite nice just to see something a little bit fresh.

Something that is completely saddled to the saga is, of course, Andor.

So season two, we got the logo, an updated logo, which is actually really quite nice.

You'll probably appreciate this as a design bod.

Quite a nice little logo out there.

And we did importantly get a Release date of April 22, 2025.

And off the back of that Diego Luna has come out and just said, look, this is going to be really good.

We know you've waited a couple of years for it, which, you know, TV series come out every year usually.

But we're in a.

We live in a world of streaming now.

It just doesn't need to be that, especially the budgets of these things.

And he says it's worth the wait.

He says it will change the complexion of Rogue One.

You know, if we look at, I think season one was set.

Was season one set like 10 years before, like around the solo time frame at the real peak of the Empire?

And then Andor season two is set five years before the beginning of Rogue One, with each three story arc having a time jump between them.

And by the end of it, we're going to see Saga, we're going to see Mon Mothma.

By the end of it it will roll straight into Rogue One, like literally straight where we see him gonna get the, the Imperial defect to the Imperial Spy and he's on that planet where he has to.

He has to kill the guy, sadly.

So this looks quite interesting, dude.

I'm that andor is that I'm genuinely quite excited about because I think Gilroy wrote a really good piece in Andor season one.

It was, you know, the pacing, some people had issues with that, but it was a well written thing.

You know, no one, no one's pissed off at Breaking Bad either or the Sopranos or, or whatever or Succession for being slow.

So yeah, I, I'm excited for this, dude.

I'm excited for it and I think, I think it'd be interesting to go back, watch season one again, you know, in my back end of March, go and watch season one again, roll into season two and then smash out Rogue One.

I think that'll be a nice little thing to do.

So yeah.

So I think this is kind of cool that we've got some details as far out.

It's cool that we've got some, some deets on it already and I think, yeah, it's one of those divisive things, isn't it, amongst fandom because you've got a section of fandom that are very much like, where are.

There's no lightsabers and there's no pew, pew, pew.

And all that stuff.

And fine, go and watch your.

Go and get your DVDs and your Blu Rays out, mate.

Because you're not giving Disney money anymore.

I'm not going to fund that.

They'Re all watching it, mate.

This is something that happens in the Doctor who community as well a lot, where there's a big bunch of fandom that just cannot stand, like, recent Doctor who.

Yeah, but, yeah.

Oh, but you're watching it every week, though.

Well, yeah.

You know, you've got to watch it.

Have you?

Because you don't.

You just told everyone that you hate it and it's the worst thing you've ever seen.

But you've got to watch it every week, though, right?

How do I know what to slag off if I don't watch it?

Exactly, yeah.

So there will be a portion of fandom that are like this with Andor because they were like.

It was season one, however, screw that.

I think this was a really good series, just paced really well, actually.

You and I said that when we reviewed it, a lot of people complaining about the slow pace and everything, but we were like, nah, man, cool.

Let the characters do their thing.

Build it up.

Yeah.

And I think if you frame that in your mind as that, you know, I think it's easy sometimes to see Star wars and want a big twist at the End or want a big cameo or a big ooh that connects to that.

Which a lot of Andor does and did.

But it's subtleties and it was storytelling.

And it's like when you.

We just finished Succession and you know that instantly grabs you and you feel completely satisfied by each episode.

And there's only a few shows that have done that for me, like Succession's one of them Penguins, one of them recently, then Back in the Day, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul.

I can't think of many more.

5, 6 series that every episode you're completely satisfied by.

And I think Andor's one of those.

Types where Sex and the City, maybe Satka.

Yeah, yeah, all of that.

And the movies.

And it's.

It's.

I think you just got to step out of it being.

There's not going to be a big twist.

There might be a cameo, but it's not going to be like a ho, ho, here's the savior, the Jedi.

And that was great in Mandalorian when Luke turned up, like, that was just a different type of great.

But that's the thing, I think that a lot of Star wars fans don't understand is there can be different types of good and different types of great and different types of quality.

And it's.

They're all good and great.

They're just different versions of it and different types of it.

I just think that, you know, Andor's got a really unique place in that.

So I'm looking forward to that.

Dude, I'm really keen for that.

We'll see if Diego Luna is.

See if he's telling pokies or not, but I don't think he is.

I think it'll be good.

And I'm really keen to see Skarsgard's character, see what happens to him.

Like, he was one of the most intriguing parts of this entire season.

So Lutheran Rail, I'm really keen to see what happens with him.

Same.

Yeah, he was really good, actually.

He provided a little bit of.

What's the word?

Gravitas.

Gravitas and intrigue into how his character.

Because we.

They kept us guessing for a while, didn't they, as to what he's getting, what his deal was.

So, yeah.

Yeah, I'm up for that, man.

Yeah, really keen for that.

All right, let's get to some news about.

About some toys.

And then we're going to finish up on some rumors, the rumor mill.

We could do this forever because there's always.

There are always releases around Black Friday and Christmas time.

But I picked out three for this, I guess I know you'll have seen some of these as well that we've got first up.

So the gifting Gift the Galaxy, which is a Hasbro initiative where they're just over the course of a couple of weeks, every day they release new products.

It's to try and add a little bit of fun and a little bit of anticipation to it.

But it's basically, here's all our product drop for Christmas.

Right, that's cool.

Nothing wrong with that.

But one thing that caught my eye was they've released the Black series Force Effects lightsaber, which is a Balen skull lightsaber which has got the ready orange blade.

And apparently according to the release, it's full size.

It's a full 1:1 scale size, which is actually quite rare in these.

Full 1:1 scale, fully functioning inbuilt speakers, all sorts of gear on it.

249 quid.

You can pre order it from next week.

As someone that's got a couple of lightsabers, I've got the Anakin one and I've got one from Batuu that I made.

This looks really good, man.

Like for that kind of money you are going to get a real quality bit of kit here.

And I've seen the OB ones, you know, I've seen these, this, this series in the Obi Wan version and that is really good.

So this is anything like this, I think it would be better.

It's a real good bit of kit, dude.

So, yeah, I'm not sure we'll pick this up because it's two is 250quid.

But it looks badass, man.

It does, yeah.

And what is it you said about it?

What's cool?

All the scale, like one to one.

It's pretty big.

That's kind of cool.

And apparently it's got some advanced LED light systems built in as well as well as the onboard speaker that you normally get and stuff.

But I think it's really cool just for those two reasons.

I think it's the unique sort of orangey red lava sort of colored blade which is very cool, which they've captured perfectly.

So when you, if you were to go back and watch those eps when he has a bit of a show showdown with Ahsoka, this exactly the same, which is really cool.

So you want that sort of screen accuracy and yeah, it's just really cool.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm gonna pick it up though.

I don't want to drop 270quid.

Just yet.

On a life.

Well, you're in like sideshow collectibles hot toy territory there, aren't you?

For a figure, if you're gonna drop, if you've got 250 to stick on a Star wars bit of kit, you're probably picking up an Anakin or an Obi Wan or a Luke, you know, some of the top tier figurines, you know, the models.

I just don't think there's enough meat on the bones unless they just make stuff up.

Unless they just retcon his stories backstory and throw in a load of cool stuff perhaps.

But as it stands at the minute, yeah, it's not much.

Nothing really happens with him until we get closer to him.

And it doesn't need to.

And then what they're doing is linking it to from 2016 at Cavill's post, where he's got some diving gear on.

He's swimming in the sea with some diving gear on, and he says, love, you know, to paraphrase, love being Superman.

But out here being like a villain in.

In Star wars or ready to play a villain in Star wars, clearly referencing the fact that his mask looks like Darth Vader.
