Mike

Hello there.

Gary Elliott

We would be honored if you would join us.

Gary Elliott

Spark of Rebellion.

Mike

Hello there and welcome to Spark of Rebellion, the Star wars show that brings you news, views and a little bit of humor from a galaxy far, far away.

Mike

Today we're going to talk about the Ray situation.

Mike

Allegedly, she's vital to the future of Star Wars.

Mike

We're going to talk about yet another movie pulled from the release schedule.

Mike

We're going to talk a little bit about TV Skeleton crew and or and it wouldn't be completely November without some Black Friday deals, some goodness and some new releases.

Mike

We might even wrap up with something from the rumor mill.

Mike

Who knows where we'll end up?

Mike

I'm of course, Mike, one of your hosts here at Spark Rebellion.

Mike

I'll be bringing on my esteemed co host in just a second.

Mike

But before I do that, remember, you can check us out on all of the podcasting platforms or you can tune in@spark rebellion.com where you can also become part of our skeleton crew, spark rebellion.com support.

Mike

If you want to show your love for this show and photos, you can do that and join so many others over there who we really, really appreciate.

Mike

Now we are going to get into some news this week.

Mike

It's been a little bit sparse actually over the last few months and actually it's just felt, it's just felt like we've been repeating ourselves a little bit.

Mike

New movies, announced cancellations, trolls, people complaining they don't like anything.

Mike

It's been a little bit repetitive.

Mike

So because of that, we're actually going to be taking December off after this week.

Mike

We will be taking a little bit of a hiatus and we're going to be coming back on January 18th with a review of the hall of Skeleton Crew that comes out early December and it runs right through to the 14th of January.

Mike

So once that's finished, we can get into something me to give it one of our famous reviews and go deep on that one.

Mike

So we'll be back after this episode on January 18th.

Mike

Now, without further ado, let's bring on the scoundrel with a beard that would make Mace Windu proud if he was to return from death.

Mike

Because as we all know, when you come back from death, and you might be questionably morally set up, you do have a little beard just to keep the audience on their toes.

Mike

So welcome the bearded one, Gary Elliott.

Mike

Hello, mate.

Gary Elliott

Good morning, mate.

Gary Elliott

So our listener, how we doing?

Gary Elliott

Yes, we've both got beards.

Gary Elliott

I can see you're, you're growing yours out a little bit for the benefit of the listener marks.

Mike

Well, it's the same with the hair though, mate.

Mike

Sort of growing the hair a little bit.

Mike

Because I'm away for two weeks, Anna, after this week, I'm off.

Mike

I'm off on holiday, so I'm sort of.

Mike

I'll just go through the shave on like Friday or Saturday.

Mike

You know the drill.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, yeah, I do that as well.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Christmas, dues, holidays, people coming over.

Mike

You shave the night, not the people coming over.

Mike

Not interested in that.

Gary Elliott

Depends who it is.

Mike

Well, it does depend who is actually.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Mike

Not.

Mike

Not anything dodgy.

Gary Elliott

No, not in that way.

Mike

Well, maybe not.

Mike

Whatever.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Mike

See how the night goes.

Gary Elliott

Whatever.

Mike

Whatever what you've been Star wars in.

Gary Elliott

What have I been Star wars in now, really?

Gary Elliott

Oh, I've sunk another.

Gary Elliott

Another few hours into Star Wars Outlaws.

Gary Elliott

I feel like it's one of those games where a bit like you with the Living Force book.

Gary Elliott

I feel like I'm not making too much head ground headway with it, but I'm chipping away.

Gary Elliott

You know that feeling where you not progressing massively.

Gary Elliott

But yeah, you're chipping away.

Gary Elliott

So I'm on Tatooine actually at the moment, which is kind of cool.

Gary Elliott

There's like a few Easter eggs dotted around on there.

Gary Elliott

You can go to.

Gary Elliott

Go to Lal's homestead and see.

Gary Elliott

You can't see any burning skeletons.

Gary Elliott

Nothing like that.

Gary Elliott

It's no, you know, nothing like that.

Gary Elliott

They've put none of that.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, but you can go there and have a look and you got Jabba's palace and all that stuff and you can chip around and.

Gary Elliott

And do that stuff.

Gary Elliott

It's kind of cool.

Gary Elliott

There's a bit of nostalgia on that one, but, yeah, other than that, dude, nothing.

Gary Elliott

What about you?

Mike

Not a ton.

Mike

Just getting through this.

Mike

Galactic Empire, rise and fall.

Mike

Nearly finished that one actually.

Mike

So I'll have that done before the old holiday.

Mike

It's really good.

Mike

So it seems to dip a little bit in the middle, but it is very, very good.

Mike

So I've been enjoying that.

Mike

So, yes, I'll stick that on my Goodreads or whatever we use in these days.

Mike

The kids.

Mike

Now, let's get to a few stories then.

Mike

So we've got.

Mike

We've got a few different, I suppose a few different types of story today.

Mike

We've got the usual, oh, look, a movie's been pulled.

Mike

But we also do have a few rumors and it's Black Friday coming up actually next week.

Mike

So we're gonna get.

Mike

Some things tend to get released, which is quite good.

Mike

So we'll talk about all of that stuff.

Mike

But we are going to start with.

Mike

An anonymous source has told the Hollywood Reporter that Rey Skywalker is played by Daisy Ridley will reportedly appear in several upcoming movies, not just.

Mike

Not just the new Jedi Order, one that we know is in development.

Mike

We don't know how far that's got, but we know it's in development.

Mike

But allegedly, this source says that she's the most valuable cinematic asset, Anakin Luke, but also that she's gonna be moving forward in several, several films.

Mike

So I, I do sort of get this, dude.

Mike

I sort of get this.

Mike

If this is true.

Mike

I mean, it's a anonymous source.

Mike

Who knows if it is true.

Mike

I do understand it, you know, young woman, Skywalker name, you know, like it or not, but I think I'm not.

Mike

I don't want to say this to sound disparaging to the character or today's a Ridley, because I like both.

Mike

I don't think Ray was particularly fleshed out very well in the original trilogy, but then was Luke.

Mike

I don't know.

Mike

Who knows?

Mike

But it doesn't feel particularly strong.

Mike

I feel like every other trilogy has had several strong characters.

Mike

So Luke, Leia and Han were obviously the perfect trifecta and strength in numbers there.

Mike

They appealed to different people, different reasons, and the same, I think in the prequel trilogy, you know, Anakin, Obi Wan, and in the Phantom Menace, you had Liam Neeson, you know, really commanding presence.

Mike

So I don't.

Mike

I don't know, man.

Mike

I, I see this.

Mike

I see why this could be a thing.

Mike

But I, I just.

Mike

I don't know how strong the character is because it just feels a bit underdeveloped.

Mike

But then you can't develop it without making more movies.

Mike

So I sort of, you know, you can't chicken and egg that.

Mike

So I don't know.

Mike

I'm.

Mike

I suppose I'm a bit ambivalent on it, as always now with Star Wars, I'm a bit ambivalent on it.

Mike

What do you make of it?

Gary Elliott

Yeah, again, I see this.

Gary Elliott

I see why they're trying to push this a little bit.

Gary Elliott

I think most of me thinks this is a good move.

Gary Elliott

I'll tell you why.

Gary Elliott

It's because I saw something the other day.

Gary Elliott

It was at one of the various Star wars blogs or whatever.

Gary Elliott

I think it was Screen Rant actually.

Gary Elliott

And they were saying that the headline was Star wars is the Star Wars's main problem is that it's a nostalgia machine.

Gary Elliott

And it's difficult to keep recreating nostalgia.

Gary Elliott

And I, I Read that.

Gary Elliott

And I thought, oh, it's another clickbaity thing.

Gary Elliott

And then the more I thought about it, I was like, they might have a point there.

Gary Elliott

You know, when you keep having to regurgitate pockets of time around the original trilogy and having to come up with new stuff, but also very familiar at the same time, it does become a bit of a challenge, and especially for Star wars fans of our age, not that old, but you know, the older crew who relies to a degree on some of that nostalgic, sort of nice warm fuzzy feeling.

Gary Elliott

When you watch Star wars, you can only run on that for so long.

Gary Elliott

So I think this is a good move to say, like, okay, we've already got a new ish established character.

Gary Elliott

Let's just bloody run with that.

Gary Elliott

There's probably a cynical part of me that thinks we've got nothing else.

Gary Elliott

We haven't got anything else.

Gary Elliott

So Ray's as good as we're going to get.

Gary Elliott

So I think this is a good move overall.

Gary Elliott

I think if you're going to choose a character and push through into new Star wars territory and do new stuff, it might as well be Ray, dude.

Gary Elliott

So, yeah, I can see why they're doing it, but it's like you said, this chicken and egg thing, you have to, you have to put content out in order to flesh out the character a bit more.

Gary Elliott

But you got to take that, that, those steps to do it, you know, So I get it.

Mike

Yeah, it's a tough thing in it.

Mike

I think it's.

Mike

You're right, nostalgia is such a big part of it, but at the same time it's, it's that we've talked about it 10 times over the last two months.

Mike

Like just the fact that if you move away from nostalgia, you just get the assholes online.

Mike

And we've said it before, like Star wars is just in a very unique position in that it's got that problem, you know, it's, it's not, it's not like Marvel or DC where it's like, well, that's not comic accurate.

Mike

Yeah, it's an interpretation of.

Mike

And a lot of the people will be fine with that.

Mike

Whereas with Star wars, it's, oh, it's not Luke, it's not Anakin, you know, and it's, we talked about it again in the, the sequel trilogy to some people.

Mike

Force awakens is 10 year old next year.

Mike

You know, if you, if that's, that's like us in 2009 with the Phantom Menace.

Mike

And it's, it's a weird scenario in that you, you know that those, those movies will be the introduction to Star wars for so many people.

Mike

And these characters will be the Star wars characters, you know, not the old guy, you know, not that old guy that was, that was stood there.

Mike

It'll be someone else.

Mike

And it's, it's just, it's sort of weird that they've always got to tread this so carefully because they, you know, it's, it's almost like it'll be easier to do this in 50 years time or 60 years time when we're all dead because you know what I mean?

Mike

Because we're not, you know, the mid-40s guys now.

Mike

We're not going to go on, you know, in 50, 60 years.

Mike

I'm going to go on social media and below.

Mike

This is crap.

Mike

You know, it'll just be fresh, hopefully.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, I think, I don't think we've got it as one of our stories this week, but Jude Law was interviewed recently and he said that he's really, really nervous about skeleton crew going out because he's seen, he's seen what's happened in the past with Star wars actors being absolutely destroyed because of something they've done in Star wars because of this very reason.

Gary Elliott

It's like you've got the old crew who were just, you know, we need more, we need more Star wars to make me feel like I did when I watched Star Wars.

Gary Elliott

But then you also got a.

Gary Elliott

Cater to.

Gary Elliott

It's such a unique.

Gary Elliott

You're right, dude.

Gary Elliott

It's.

Gary Elliott

They're in such a unique position with it where it's.

Gary Elliott

I, we've said it many times.

Gary Elliott

I certainly wouldn't want this job.

Gary Elliott

Years ago I really wanted to.

Gary Elliott

It's like, oh, what's your dream job?

Gary Elliott

You know, other than working, you know, doing what I'm doing now, of course.

Gary Elliott

But what's your dream job?

Gary Elliott

I'd love to work at like Pixar or, you know, Lucasfilm making Star wars stuff.

Gary Elliott

But now, gee, I don't know, man.

Gary Elliott

I honestly don't know.

Mike

Yeah, and that's such a shame that someone like Du Law feels like that.

Mike

It's not like he's not accomplished.

Mike

It's not like he's done good work.

Mike

It's not like he's pretty well revered and, you know, I just think it's a symptom of the, the world that we're in at the minute with social media and so on.

Mike

But we'll see how that goes.

Mike

We'll see what happens with that one.

Mike

But it's not helping the next new news article is that reported by variety last week.

Mike

December 18, 2026, we were going to get a Star wars movie.

Mike

Now we don't know which one it was going to be, but we were going to get one.

Mike

Now we're not.

Mike

Now we're getting Ice Age 6, which I'm up for.

Gary Elliott

Arguably a better film than whatever we're going to get.

Mike

I like it.

Mike

Yeah, probably better.

Mike

I do like, I do like Ice Edge, but I don't know which movie this was going to be.

Mike

So it means that we've only got only the Mandalorian and Grogu.

Mike

Directed by the Fav.

Mike

May 22, 2026.

Mike

Now it's, it's weird this because if you like, if you think back pre Marvel, when did we get more than one Star wars movie in a year?

Mike

Like you got one every, what, two or three years?

Mike

Like before 2008, what we had the prequels, but now it's like, oh, we're only going to get one Star wars movie in 2026.

Mike

And you're like, oh, that's fine, that's cool, that's all right.

Mike

But at the same time, it's like we've said before.

Mike

And actually I want to say this, but then I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll underpin it with something slightly different.

Mike

It's like we've said before, they keep dropping these movies and pulling these movies out.

Mike

However, how often does this happen in the cinema ecosystem, the movie making Hollywood ecosystem, where you pencil a dating and it just doesn't happen.

Mike

You swap it out, but because it's Star wars, it's under the microscope, it's a big problem.

Mike

It's an issue.

Mike

So again, is it, you know, we get, we're getting a Star wars movie in one year, do we need two?

Mike

Probably not.

Mike

Probably not.

Mike

It's cool.

Mike

It's totally cool.

Mike

So I'm, I've got, I can see both sides of this, you know, it being a problem, but at the same time not.

Mike

And I think it, for me it just comes back down to that.

Mike

Stop freaking announcing.

Gary Elliott

Yes, agreed.

Gary Elliott

We're in this, we're in this position, aren't we, where we've been spoiled, really, with Star wars content.

Gary Elliott

A lot of people will complain, right?

Gary Elliott

They'll say since the Disney buyout, they've ruined Star wars and all the rest of it.

Gary Elliott

But, and there's also the question of Star wars fatigue as well.

Gary Elliott

I think that's something that's been, that's been knocked about for a While.

Gary Elliott

But we have had a lot of content over the last few years, dude.

Gary Elliott

As well as.

Gary Elliott

Not so much in the way of films, but certainly over at Disney plus we've had loads of Star wars stuff.

Gary Elliott

And yeah, now this has happened.

Gary Elliott

It's like other franchises like Transformers, I guess, and some of the Marvel stuff.

Gary Elliott

You know those big franchises where you get like one film, like you said, every few years.

Gary Elliott

It's like fans are like, oh, this is amazing.

Gary Elliott

We're gonna get another film in like 2027.

Gary Elliott

Oh, brilliant.

Gary Elliott

I can't wait for that.

Gary Elliott

But where it's Star Wars.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, it's like, oh, you're only getting one film this year.

Gary Elliott

Oh, this is outra.

Gary Elliott

This is absolutely outrageous.

Gary Elliott

So we guessed, didn't we, that this was going to be that new Jedi Order film?

Gary Elliott

I think when we, when we spoke about, oh, Star wars has got two or three films slated for 2025, we were like, well, Mandu and Grogu's already been announced for May, so the other one's probably.

Gary Elliott

What do we say at the time?

Gary Elliott

I'm sure it was the new Jedi Order film with Rey, because we were talking about, you know, because at that point production was in full swing pre production anyway, and we thought, well, that's not bags of time to do the visual effects, everything, but they could still do it.

Gary Elliott

So I'm wondering if it was that one.

Gary Elliott

But I don't know, man.

Gary Elliott

I mean, any other franchise, it wouldn't necessarily be a problem.

Gary Elliott

The only thing I can think of that's kind of similar is Marvel keep pulling the Blade film.

Gary Elliott

I think fans are getting a bit miffed with that now because they keep moving it around.

Gary Elliott

But if it's any other franchise, it wouldn't be a problem.

Gary Elliott

But because Disney have made a rod for their own back where they keep doing this thing where it's like, here's an announcement.

Gary Elliott

Nope, it's not happening now.

Gary Elliott

Here's a film.

Gary Elliott

No, we're not doing it now.

Gary Elliott

Here's a release date.

Gary Elliott

No, we're not doing it now.

Gary Elliott

It's just.

Gary Elliott

It's really starting to gray on people.

Gary Elliott

So I think that's kind of justified, dude, for people to have a little bit of the hump.

Gary Elliott

Not a bit.

Gary Elliott

Not because we're only getting one Star wars film, but more so it's just like you keep telling us we're getting stuff and then.

Gary Elliott

And then you pull it.

Gary Elliott

I think that's the problem.

Mike

Yeah, I think.

Mike

I agree.

Mike

I think that's the bigger issue.

Mike

This is just a symptom of it.

Mike

We'll just have to see on it again.

Mike

We've talked about this before.

Mike

I'm sort of just not really that interested.

Mike

Like I only really care about something now when there's actual footage.

Mike

That's, that's where I just am with it at the minute because I don't, I just don't think we can guarantee anything else.

Mike

So we'll see on that one.

Mike

We'll.

Mike

We'll see, man.

Mike

We do know that skeleton crew is coming along and one of the, one of the co creators, Chris Ford has spoken to screen ran about really where this fits in the timeline.

Mike

We know it takes place post Return the Jedi in that Mando verse space.

Mike

So whether that is the five year period where the mando started or much later, you know, eight, nine, ten years after, who knows.

Mike

But one of the interesting things here that Chris has said, Chris, like I know him, has said, is why they chose that period.

Mike

And it's not so that it can tie to everyone else.

Mike

And we know there'll probably be cameos and some scoundrels making appearances all well and good, but he said that the reason for setting it like this and putting it here is that actually there needs to be a little bit of a space for people to go and get lost and not get bailed out by other people.

Mike

So if you think about it in the High Republic, if you set the.

Mike

And this is what he goes on to say.

Mike

If you set it in the High Republic like some missing kids in a spaceship gonna get whipped out by a, you know, a do good a Jedi really quickly because there's tens of thousands of them.

Mike

If you set it during the reign of the Empire, they're going to get picked up by the Empire because the space lanes and so eventually they'll come across some stormtroopers and they'll just pick them up.

Mike

And he just said that.

Mike

It just seemed a very logical place to put this because although the New Republic's there, they've not really got this together all that much.

Mike

That as we know they're certainly not as they don't have a military.

Mike

They're not as prominent throughout the Gar galaxy as we've seen in the Mandalorian on Tatooine and wherever else.

Mike

Everything's still a little bit Wild Westy.

Mike

We've seen it on Coruscant with Senator Z and, and Harrison Duller and Ahsoka.

Mike

You know, not everything's going well there.

Mike

Resources are low.

Mike

So it just said there's room for pirates and Scoundrels.

Mike

But we needed to give room for pirates and scoundrels.

Mike

You know, we needed the ability for someone to go and get lost for a little bit and without the worry of.

Mike

Of, I suppose, the backlash, because you would.

Mike

You get the b.

Mike

That wouldn't have happened, you know, so it just feels.

Mike

It just reckons it feels like a good time space to.

Mike

To set this and.

Mike

And.

Mike

And to.

Mike

To give it room to breathe, which I quite like.

Mike

I think it's time for something fresh, you know, I think it'll be quite nice.

Mike

We know we'll get some cameos and whatever else, but I.

Mike

I just seems like it's got a reasonably clean slate and the time period seems to fit that.

Gary Elliott

Yes, agreed.

Gary Elliott

No, I agree with this, mate.

Gary Elliott

I think this is a good.

Gary Elliott

A good shout because it's the Marvel TV issue.

Gary Elliott

Otherwise you think about a lot of the Marvel TV stuff that's on Disney plus where you've got like one or two people knocking around saving the whole of New York or the planet, whatever.

Gary Elliott

There's no way that a lot of those stories would happen and all of the Avengers are just on vacation somewhere.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, you know, it's like, come on.

Gary Elliott

At some point, one of the Avengers would have shown up and just handled this, and away we go.

Mike

Of course, the biggest example is like, Eternals, and I wouldn't have.

Mike

Yeah, no chance.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

So I know that doesn't make for very good storytelling, but, you know, if you've got your, you know, what's the word?

Gary Elliott

Pedantic, you know, couple of pints down, hat on.

Mike

Oh, yeah.

Gary Elliott

Well, you know.

Gary Elliott

Well, I don't agree with the Avengers thing because, you know, Thor would have turned up and got him over after this episode three.

Gary Elliott

So I totally get it.

Gary Elliott

You know, you can't have Jedi knocking around to save the day.

Gary Elliott

You can't have the Empire knocking around to, you know, to put a spanner in the works.

Gary Elliott

You've got to have a little bit of breathing room just to tell a good story.

Gary Elliott

So, yeah, I'm up for this, mate.

Gary Elliott

I think this is a good shout.

Mike

Yeah, I agree.

Mike

I think it'll be quite nice just to see something a little bit fresh.

Mike

Something that is completely saddled to the saga is, of course, Andor.

Mike

So season two, we got the logo, an updated logo, which is actually really quite nice.

Mike

You'll probably appreciate this as a design bod.

Mike

Quite a nice little logo out there.

Mike

And we did importantly get a Release date of April 22, 2025.

Mike

And off the back of that Diego Luna has come out and just said, look, this is going to be really good.

Mike

We know you've waited a couple of years for it, which, you know, TV series come out every year usually.

Mike

But we're in a.

Mike

We live in a world of streaming now.

Mike

It just doesn't need to be that, especially the budgets of these things.

Mike

And he says it's worth the wait.

Mike

He says it will change the complexion of Rogue One.

Mike

You know, if we look at, I think season one was set.

Mike

Was season one set like 10 years before, like around the solo time frame at the real peak of the Empire?

Mike

And then Andor season two is set five years before the beginning of Rogue One, with each three story arc having a time jump between them.

Mike

And by the end of it, we're going to see Saga, we're going to see Mon Mothma.

Mike

By the end of it it will roll straight into Rogue One, like literally straight where we see him gonna get the, the Imperial defect to the Imperial Spy and he's on that planet where he has to.

Mike

He has to kill the guy, sadly.

Mike

So this looks quite interesting, dude.

Mike

I'm that andor is that I'm genuinely quite excited about because I think Gilroy wrote a really good piece in Andor season one.

Mike

It was, you know, the pacing, some people had issues with that, but it was a well written thing.

Mike

You know, no one, no one's pissed off at Breaking Bad either or the Sopranos or, or whatever or Succession for being slow.

Mike

So yeah, I, I'm excited for this, dude.

Mike

I'm excited for it and I think, I think it'd be interesting to go back, watch season one again, you know, in my back end of March, go and watch season one again, roll into season two and then smash out Rogue One.

Mike

I think that'll be a nice little thing to do.

Mike

So yeah.

Mike

You're excited for this?

Gary Elliott

I am actually, mate.

Gary Elliott

Eoth.

Gary Elliott

And woe is us.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Star wars fans, we have to watch another new Star wars thing that they're putting out.

Gary Elliott

Oh no.

Gary Elliott

So I think this is kind of cool that we've got some details as far out.

Gary Elliott

Normally we get stuff.

Gary Elliott

When is this out?

Gary Elliott

What month is it next year?

Gary Elliott

April.

Mike

April 22nd.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

So normally sort of February time we'd get some more details about it and the teaser and stuff.

Gary Elliott

It's cool that we've got some, some deets on it already and I think, yeah, it's one of those divisive things, isn't it, amongst fandom because you've got a section of fandom that are very much like, where are.

Gary Elliott

There's no lightsabers and there's no pew, pew, pew.

Gary Elliott

And.

Gary Elliott

And all that stuff.

Gary Elliott

And fine, go and watch your.

Gary Elliott

Go and get your DVDs and your Blu Rays out, mate.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Because you're not giving Disney money anymore.

Gary Elliott

I'm not going to fund that.

Gary Elliott

So go and get your Blue Razor and watch.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, of course you are.

Gary Elliott

Oh, how are you watching all the Marvel stuff, then?

Gary Elliott

Oh, yeah.

Mike

What?

Gary Elliott

Well, it's a funny thing.

Gary Elliott

Funny thing that I didn't actually cancel it.

Gary Elliott

I'm meaning to, you know, it's on the.

Gary Elliott

It's on the agenda.

Mike

There was a problem with my credit card.

Mike

It just carried on paying.

Mike

Yeah, Neck be a jerk.

Gary Elliott

Those bloody credit cards, eh?

Gary Elliott

You just can't turn them off.

Gary Elliott

Hey.

Gary Elliott

But yes, I.

Gary Elliott

I'm looking forward.

Mike

It'll probably be their mum's credit card dealer.

Mike

Well, my mom, she's actually the account holder and she doesn't let me have passwords because I sometimes don't wear trousers.

Gary Elliott

Yes.

Gary Elliott

Oh, okay.

Gary Elliott

So just to confirm, you'd like to cancel your Disney Plus?

Gary Elliott

Yes.

Gary Elliott

Are you the account holder, sir?

Gary Elliott

Yeah, funny story.

Mike

And then what you hear on background is this.

Mike

Mum, Mum, no, come here now.

Mike

No, Mom.

Mike

Hi, yeah, just.

Mike

Sorry, one second.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the telephone voice.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, just bear with me just one moment, please.

Mike

One second.

Mike

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

They'Re all watching it, mate.

Gary Elliott

They're all fucking.

Gary Elliott

We would.

Gary Elliott

This is something that happens in the Doctor who community as well a lot, where there's a big bunch of fandom that just cannot stand, like, recent Doctor who.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, but, yeah.

Gary Elliott

Oh, but you're watching it every week, though.

Gary Elliott

Well, yeah.

Gary Elliott

You know, you've got to watch it.

Gary Elliott

Have you?

Gary Elliott

Because you don't.

Gary Elliott

You just told everyone that you hate it and it's the worst thing you've ever seen.

Gary Elliott

But you've got to watch it every week, though, right?

Mike

How do I know what to slag off if I don't watch it?

Gary Elliott

Exactly, yeah.

Gary Elliott

So there will be a portion of fandom that are like this with Andor because they were like.

Gary Elliott

It was season one, however, screw that.

Gary Elliott

I think this was a really good series, just paced really well, actually.

Gary Elliott

You and I said that when we reviewed it, a lot of people complaining about the slow pace and everything, but we were like, nah, man, cool.

Gary Elliott

Let the characters do their thing.

Gary Elliott

Build it up.

Mike

Yeah.

Mike

And I think if you frame that in your mind as that, you know, I think it's easy sometimes to see Star wars and want a big twist at the End or want a big cameo or a big ooh that connects to that.

Mike

Which a lot of Andor does and did.

Mike

But it's subtleties and it was storytelling.

Mike

And it's like when you.

Mike

We just finished Succession and you know that instantly grabs you and you feel completely satisfied by each episode.

Mike

And there's only a few shows that have done that for me, like Succession's one of them Penguins, one of them recently, then Back in the Day, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul.

Mike

I can't think of many more.

Mike

5, 6 series that every episode you're completely satisfied by.

Mike

And I think Andor's one of those.

Gary Elliott

Types where Sex and the City, maybe Satka.

Mike

Yeah, yeah, all of that.

Mike

And the movies.

Mike

And it's.

Mike

It's.

Mike

I think you just got to step out of it being.

Mike

There's not going to be a big twist.

Mike

There might be a cameo, but it's not going to be like a ho, ho, here's the savior, the Jedi.

Mike

And that was great in Mandalorian when Luke turned up, like, that was just a different type of great.

Mike

But that's the thing, I think that a lot of Star wars fans don't understand is there can be different types of good and different types of great and different types of quality.

Mike

And it's.

Mike

They're all good and great.

Mike

They're just different versions of it and different types of it.

Mike

I just think that, you know, Andor's got a really unique place in that.

Mike

So I'm looking forward to that.

Mike

Dude, I'm really keen for that.

Mike

We'll see if Diego Luna is.

Mike

See if he's telling pokies or not, but I don't think he is.

Mike

I think it'll be good.

Mike

And I'm really keen to see Skarsgard's character, see what happens to him.

Mike

Like, he was one of the most intriguing parts of this entire season.

Mike

So Lutheran Rail, I'm really keen to see what happens with him.

Gary Elliott

Same.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, he was really good, actually.

Gary Elliott

He provided a little bit of.

Gary Elliott

What's the word?

Mike

Gravitas.

Gary Elliott

Gravitas and intrigue into how his character.

Gary Elliott

Because we.

Gary Elliott

They kept us guessing for a while, didn't they, as to what he's getting, what his deal was.

Gary Elliott

So, yeah.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, I'm up for that, man.

Mike

Yeah, really keen for that.

Mike

All right, let's get to some news about.

Mike

About some toys.

Mike

And then we're going to finish up on some rumors, the rumor mill.

Mike

We could do this forever because there's always.

Mike

There are always releases around Black Friday and Christmas time.

Mike

But I picked out three for this, I guess I know you'll have seen some of these as well that we've got first up.

Mike

So the gifting Gift the Galaxy, which is a Hasbro initiative where they're just over the course of a couple of weeks, every day they release new products.

Mike

It's to try and add a little bit of fun and a little bit of anticipation to it.

Mike

But it's basically, here's all our product drop for Christmas.

Mike

Right, that's cool.

Mike

Nothing wrong with that.

Mike

But one thing that caught my eye was they've released the Black series Force Effects lightsaber, which is a Balen skull lightsaber which has got the ready orange blade.

Mike

And apparently according to the release, it's full size.

Mike

It's a full 1:1 scale size, which is actually quite rare in these.

Mike

Full 1:1 scale, fully functioning inbuilt speakers, all sorts of gear on it.

Mike

249 quid.

Mike

You can pre order it from next week.

Mike

As someone that's got a couple of lightsabers, I've got the Anakin one and I've got one from Batuu that I made.

Mike

This looks really good, man.

Mike

Like for that kind of money you are going to get a real quality bit of kit here.

Mike

And I've seen the OB ones, you know, I've seen these, this, this series in the Obi Wan version and that is really good.

Mike

So this is anything like this, I think it would be better.

Mike

It's a real good bit of kit, dude.

Mike

So, yeah, I'm not sure we'll pick this up because it's two is 250quid.

Mike

But it looks badass, man.

Gary Elliott

It does, yeah.

Gary Elliott

And what is it you said about it?

Gary Elliott

What's cool?

Gary Elliott

All the scale, like one to one.

Gary Elliott

It's pretty big.

Gary Elliott

That's kind of cool.

Gary Elliott

And apparently it's got some advanced LED light systems built in as well as well as the onboard speaker that you normally get and stuff.

Gary Elliott

But I think it's really cool just for those two reasons.

Gary Elliott

I think it's the unique sort of orangey red lava sort of colored blade which is very cool, which they've captured perfectly.

Gary Elliott

So when you, if you were to go back and watch those eps when he has a bit of a show showdown with Ahsoka, this exactly the same, which is really cool.

Gary Elliott

So you want that sort of screen accuracy and yeah, it's just really cool.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm gonna pick it up though.

Gary Elliott

I don't want to drop 270quid.

Gary Elliott

Just yet.

Gary Elliott

On a life.

Mike

Well, you're in like sideshow collectibles hot toy territory there, aren't you?

Mike

For a figure, if you're gonna drop, if you've got 250 to stick on a Star wars bit of kit, you're probably picking up an Anakin or an Obi Wan or a Luke, you know, some of the top tier figurines, you know, the models.

Mike

That would be my view anyway.

Mike

And I'm right, so I'll share that view, mate.

Gary Elliott

You are.

Mike

No, Yeah, I was taking the approach of all Star wars trolls.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Mike

By the way, I'm right.

Mike

Fuck you all.

Mike

I own Twitter.

Mike

All right, Elon, Calm down.

Mike

Shagger.

Mike

Easy, easy, boss.

Gary Elliott

Calm down.

Gary Elliott

He's shouting at me again.

Gary Elliott

Leave me alone.

Mike

You're not my real dad.

Gary Elliott

He's not your dad.

Gary Elliott

Shouldn't have said that.

Mike

Who pays the bills?

Mike

Yeah, I'm turning your Xbox game pass off, you little nerd.

Mike

Get a job, Mom.

Mike

New character in the works right here.

Mike

Tune back in January, January 18, for more character development like this.

Mike

All right?

Mike

Lego Lego Lego LEGO Ultimate Collector series.

Mike

We've got a few of these knocking around, haven't we?

Mike

They put out a Luke Skywalker's giant X34 land speeder a couple of years ago.

Mike

A 1,000, almost 1,900 piece kit, which is.

Mike

It's about standard for a UCS.

Mike

Unless you've got like Mosaic, which I think is like 282 9.

Mike

About 2000 pieces is around the standard.

Mike

It wouldn't be Black Friday without a deal.

Mike

So we've got a report on this one because it really is a.

Mike

It really is a good deal, this one.

Mike

So this has come down from 240 bucks.

Mike

It's come down by 65 to 175 now for a UCS.

Mike

This is a genuine, actual, legitimate bargain.

Mike

Because UCS are expensive.

Mike

I've got the R2, I've got the Batman, Batwing and a couple of others, Air Wing.

Mike

And I like, they're always upwards of 222.30.

Mike

So this is a genuine deal, dude.

Mike

A genuine deal.

Mike

I actually, I'm not saying you will pick it up, but I imagine this is something that you would pick up.

Gary Elliott

Yep.

Gary Elliott

When I saw this, I was like, oh, for fuck's sake.

Mike

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

You know, when you've budgeted for something, you think, right, I've got my money lined up for some other bits.

Gary Elliott

Not that I'm not, you know, a bit of a shop.

Mike

You got a Beamer?

Gary Elliott

I've never.

Gary Elliott

I've Got an old Beamer because I like the old.

Mike

The old three rear wheel drive around the old Rugby roundabouts.

Mike

Indicators are not working, lads.

Gary Elliott

I'm sending this car back.

Gary Elliott

By the way, there's this glowing orange thing on the side.

Gary Elliott

I keep accidentally knocking something and it's the.

Gary Elliott

I don't know what it is.

Gary Elliott

Bringing it back.

Mike

Hi, mate.

Mike

I've got this light and it just keeps coming on and flashing and I don't know what to do with it.

Mike

Don't use that, mate.

Gary Elliott

I won't bother with it.

Mike

Yeah, no one else does.

Mike

We're trying to get taken off, but.

Gary Elliott

The Beamer I've got is this.

Gary Elliott

I like the old 3 Series shape and model, which is why I went for it.

Mike

They look mint, to be fair.

Mike

They do look good, yeah.

Gary Elliott

And whenever I say someone says, what are you driving?

Gary Elliott

Or BMW, it's always like, are you whatever?

Gary Elliott

Well, it's weird, just a basic Beamer.

Mike

Because if you say to someone, I've got a Beamer, but if you say, I've got an older Beamer, like, they sort of respect it more.

Mike

Do you know what I mean?

Mike

It's weird that I get that completely.

Mike

I do actually get that.

Mike

Anyway, you're gonna buy this land speeder than.

Mike

Or what?

Gary Elliott

I think I might, mate.

Gary Elliott

I'm a sucker for the old.

Gary Elliott

For the land speed.

Gary Elliott

I'm glad they went with the X34, Luke's one as well, of course.

Gary Elliott

And not the older.

Gary Elliott

I wouldn't have been impressed with the V35 courier model.

Mike

Yeah, no one wants that cheap crap.

Gary Elliott

Nah, nah.

Gary Elliott

So I might do, mate.

Gary Elliott

Might do good.

Gary Elliott

I just.

Gary Elliott

I've wanted it when it first was announced, but I just didn't want to drop 250 quid on it.

Gary Elliott

But now it's that I'm like, oh, don't know, it's more tempting.

Mike

So I'm like, fuck, yeah.

Mike

No, I think it's it.

Mike

It looks smart, man.

Mike

It does.

Mike

It looks really, really smart.

Mike

I think things like this always look good displayed and like they're just never really going to age because the UCs are done.

Mike

So I don't.

Mike

I don't want to say, obviously, like in a more detailed manner, but they're done in.

Mike

In such a heavy duty way that they just look quality, like they're not going to age.

Mike

Do you know What I mean?

Mike

20 years time, kiddo's got it.

Mike

You know, it's going to look good.

Mike

So, I mean, 475 quid, man.

Mike

Geez.

Mike

It's almost daft.

Mike

Not To.

Mike

I'll tell you what is daft.

Mike

Going out dressed as Darth Vader.

Mike

Don't do that unless you want to.

Mike

In which case we got your back.

Mike

Because Colombia, they do this annually.

Mike

We've had the Hoth stuff, we've had the X Wing stuff, some rebellion stuff.

Mike

Columbia released more clothing and this is all based on Darth Vader.

Mike

And you know what?

Mike

I'm taking the piss a little bit, but in all honesty, there's some alright gear here, so.

Mike

There is.

Mike

There's some alright gear.

Mike

What I'll do is I'll go through the stuff that's not, and then I'll sort of say what I think is decent and then we can just.

Mike

You can lambast me on it.

Mike

You can just hand me on it.

Mike

So that'll be good.

Mike

So basically all it is, I'm not a logo guy, all right?

Mike

So I'm not a character guy.

Mike

I'm not a guy that's gonna walk out with a wolf on his sweatshirt.

Mike

Nor am I a guy that's gonna walk around with Darth Vader on his T shirt.

Mike

I'm just not that guy.

Mike

I'm a plain margarita eating mofo.

Mike

All right?

Mike

So whilst there are some lovely T shirts that have got Darth Vader on them, they're not for me.

Mike

Don't sweat that.

Mike

And I'll tell you what else.

Mike

I'm not going to buy some shoes.

Mike

I ain't buying walking boots, waterproof walking boots like Darth Vader because he could barely walk.

Mike

So testimony null and void.

Mike

Nor am I buying the Liam Gallagher bucket hat.

Mike

Nor am I buying that.

Mike

But what I will buy, what I might buy, there's a couple of little puffer jackets, there's a nice baseball cap, and there's, there's, there's actually like.

Mike

You know, when you're a kid at our age, right, and you're in like the 90s, right, and it's like you need a new school coat.

Mike

And your dad's like, get one like that.

Mike

I'm not gonna get one like that.

Mike

That'll look like a minor and not a child.

Mike

An actual minor.

Mike

Yep, a duffel coat.

Mike

We used to go out in the mid-70s.

Mike

They were all arranged.

Mike

Well, they're not anymore.

Mike

Shagger.

Mike

So I'm not getting one of them.

Mike

Well, it turns out that he wasn't lying about fashion coming round because there is what appears to be a miner's duffel coat there, but it's got inside of it a little zipping puffer jacket as well.

Mike

So I can see myself in that.

Mike

Looking pretty fly.

Mike

I can see myself in the other puffer jacket.

Mike

Little bit shiny, might look a little twatty, but I'm willing to risk it because I've got cheekbones that'll pull it off, as have you guys.

Mike

So Columbia's Darth Vader collection.

Mike

We'll stick a link in the show notes.

Mike

Go and have a gander, see what you want.

Mike

But are you gonna get some of this?

Mike

Guys, I think you look pretty fine.

Gary Elliott

Oh, my God, you forgot the socks, man.

Gary Elliott

The Darth Vader did forget the socks.

Mike

They're low risk.

Mike

Aren't they though?

Mike

And there's a belt as well.

Mike

Imagine that, right?

Mike

Imagine that you're out on a night out, Saturday night out, right?

Mike

Mom, give me a credit card, right?

Mike

I'm going out, finally getting out, right?

Mike

Getting out.

Mike

Neck beards.

Mike

Getting out of the basement, going out downtown, swanning round.

Mike

Get out there for like half six, whipping to walk about.

Mike

Boom, there she is.

Mike

Walk about, right?

Mike

Whipping to walk about.

Mike

Yes, love.

Mike

Two person lemony lemonade.

Mike

Thank you very much.

Mike

And some nuts, right?

Mike

Some of them.

Mike

You see her over the dance floor.

Mike

Boom.

Mike

Dirty dancing soundtrack on.

Mike

You whip your way over.

Mike

Spare Persona and lemonade.

Mike

The night goes well, you take her home.

Mike

Things are getting a bit heavy.

Mike

This belt's difficult to get off.

Mike

Well, let me do it.

Mike

All right.

Mike

Wait a minute.

Mike

What is that on that belt?

Mike

Unrelated, do you know how to get an Uber at all?

Mike

Are there any Ubers around here?

Mike

Does Uber serve this area at all?

Mike

Neck beard, virginity intact, thanks to the Columbia Darth Vader belt.

Mike

That's all I'm saying, man.

Mike

I'm not saying that happened to me at any point, but I can see how that would be a thing.

Gary Elliott

Poor first experience saved mom can't get this belt off.

Gary Elliott

Come on, take it out in a minute.

Gary Elliott

Come and give me hand.

Gary Elliott

This girl's like, you're right, mate.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, just belt, yeah, New in it.

Gary Elliott

I've got the end of it.

Gary Elliott

I got.

Gary Elliott

There's a knack to taking it off.

Mike

It's a knack.

Mike

Only me and my mom can do it.

Mike

Aren't you 27?

Mike

Yeah, doesn't matter.

Mike

Don't talk.

Mike

Shut up.

Mike

Doesn't matter.

Mike

So what do you do?

Gary Elliott

Oh, God.

Gary Elliott

This new belt, love.

Gary Elliott

Oh, just hang on.

Gary Elliott

And like mom.

Mike

You can see like classic Netbeard anger coming in as mom.

Mike

A bit like Johnny Vegas on Benidorm.

Mike

Because she's not my mom, she's my peer.

Gary Elliott

It's a bit like an episode of the in betweeners.

Gary Elliott

Don't.

Gary Elliott

If any listeners have seen it.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, I've only seen it briefly, but I remember seeing one episode where this guy's about to have his first experience and something's wrong downstairs and he starts punching the crap out of it.

Gary Elliott

Can imagine that with his belt.

Gary Elliott

Just smacking the crap out of it.

Mike

It's a funny episode that.

Mike

Why don't you just work?

Gary Elliott

Why don't you just work?

Gary Elliott

Yeah, same thing with a belt.

Gary Elliott

Why don't you just come off?

Gary Elliott

And I need you to come off.

Mike

When I'm running in front of my friends when I try out for the football team.

Mike

You fall down, don't you, you shit.

Mike

But not now.

Gary Elliott

Oh, yeah.

Gary Elliott

I mean, who knows?

Gary Elliott

That experience could absolutely happen with his belt.

Mike

We need a satirical YouTube neckbeard channel that, like, parodies Star wars fans, that are the trolls.

Mike

And we just, like.

Mike

Basically, that's our contribution to Star wars fandom, is being like the police of.

Mike

But doing it through parody and just being a fat net beard.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, it's just.

Gary Elliott

It's written itself, really.

Mike

It's written itself.

Mike

Yeah.

Mike

And since Carl Weathers died, we've not been able to make any of those kind of jokes out of respect.

Mike

So we've not.

Mike

We've had no characters to play against.

Mike

But now Darth Neckbeard returns.

Gary Elliott

The characters were there the whole time.

Mike

We could even do his breathing like Darth Vader, but it's just because he's fat and got asthma.

Mike

Just get it.

Mike

Every time he runs upstairs for a sandwich.

Mike

It's like.

Gary Elliott

The unboxing video.

Mike

Are you all right, Jason?

Gary Elliott

Jason?

Gary Elliott

Yeah, the unboxing video.

Gary Elliott

Jason, your Columbia package is here.

Gary Elliott

You've got a shake, Mom.

Gary Elliott

Just drop it down the stairs.

Mike

But don't smash it.

Gary Elliott

Darfeed a belt.

Mike

And then he's like, definitely got a telephone voice when he's recording his YouTube.

Mike

Hey, guys, it's me, Jason.

Mike

I'm back with a brand new unboxing here on my channel, Roblox.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, and it's that.

Gary Elliott

Oh, man.

Gary Elliott

It's the same YouTube spiel as well, isn't it?

Gary Elliott

Every other YouTube on the planet.

Gary Elliott

Are you Jason here?

Gary Elliott

I'm back again with another video.

Gary Elliott

Remember to hit, like, subscribe.

Mike

Don't forget to smash that like and subscribe button right now.

Mike

Smash it.

Mike

Smash it.

Mike

Let me know what you think in the comments.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, we got more Star wars content on the way.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, smash subscribe button.

Gary Elliott

Oh, man.

Gary Elliott

What are we talking about?

Mike

Jason the neckbeard in his mum's basement.

Mike

That Is quite literally a sketch waiting to happen.

Gary Elliott

Jason.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Mike

So you're not gonna buy the belt?

Gary Elliott

Not getting the belt.

Gary Elliott

Because I'm fearful now of that playing out.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

But I might pick up the baseball cap.

Mike

It does look nifty, that.

Gary Elliott

Quite minimal.

Gary Elliott

Quite.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, yeah.

Gary Elliott

It doesn't shout like, look at me, I've just sucked off Darth Vader.

Gary Elliott

But it looks quite cool.

Mike

Well, it's one of those.

Mike

What I quite like about.

Mike

I'm a.

Mike

I'm a real big fan of subtlety and stuff like this.

Mike

It's one of those where unless you knew what it was, you're just like, oh, that's a black baseball cap.

Mike

That's cool.

Mike

But yeah, and the subtlety would do it.

Mike

That's, I think, why I like the jackets because, like, I'm not a big puffer jacket guy.

Mike

But if, you know, you can buy jackets like that just else just in the shops, you know, you just get them.

Mike

It's not like it's.

Mike

Look at me, I've got Star wars emblazoned on my back sort of thing.

Mike

So I do quite like these.

Gary Elliott

Dude, it's got detachable sleeves.

Gary Elliott

One of them.

Mike

Yeah.

Mike

You turn into a gilet, mate.

Gary Elliott

It's all nice.

Mike

Gillette.

Mike

Rude Gillet.

Gary Elliott

Like it.

Mike

Rude gullet.

Mike

How have we never got to that?

Mike

Rude gullet Rudolet, the old football player.

Mike

How have that.

Mike

How has that never become a funny thing?

Mike

And he's not really saying ball gullet, it's just.

Mike

And he's always getting it wrong.

Mike

No, Forest Jagger, it's not rude Hullet, mate.

Mike

I know you're into your Chelsea and your early 90s Netherlands football, but mate, it's Borgulit.

Gary Elliott

Rude.

Mike

How's that not a parody?

Mike

Jesus, we're on fire.

Mike

Unbelievable.

Mike

Unbelievable.

Gary Elliott

Keep them coming.

Mike

Yeah, might bloody have to.

Mike

Right, we're going to finish up on two rumors from the mill of Ruler.

Mike

Rumors.

Mike

Rulers.

Mike

Do you know why I said rulers then?

Mike

Because I'm looking at this rumor and it's of Palpatine.

Mike

So in my head I was like ruler because he rules everything.

Mike

Done it.

Mike

So well done.

Mike

Yeah.

Mike

Never radio would I.

Mike

So we've got two rumors.

Mike

They're not rumors, they're just made up.

Mike

So the Sith archives have done a fan poster showing Tom Hiddleston as Palpatine.

Mike

It looks like they've took us a photo.

Mike

A well lit.

Mike

It's either CGI or they've took a well lit photo of like a Loki Hot toys.

Mike

Because the skin texture looks like the throne one and then put it into like a Star wars story.

Mike

Palpatine.

Mike

Now it's clearly bollocks, but the Hiddleston stuff has gone around for a while.

Mike

Even Emitter chimed in and said actually a younger Palpatine story could be quite good.

Mike

And Tom Hiddleston got interviewed recently, I think with Josh Horowitz.

Mike

Had a bit of banter.

Mike

Just saying I'd have to have to age myself up a little bit.

Mike

That said, this is clearly rumor.

Mike

However, Acolyte's gone.

Mike

Darth Plagueis is around.

Mike

Khmer exists.

Mike

You know, there are threads that could be pulled upon that could lead into a young Palpatine thing.

Mike

So I.

Mike

This is truly a rumor.

Mike

Like genuinely, I don't think there's anything in this, but I could see it happening.

Mike

I could potentially see it happening.

Mike

And I'll go as far as to say that I think Tommy Dalton would actually be perfect for it.

Mike

I think it would be really good for it.

Mike

So, yeah, what do you make of this dude?

Mike

Clearly bollocks in it, but could be fun.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, clearly bs.

Gary Elliott

And it is a hot toys figure, I think.

Mike

Is it?

Gary Elliott

I think so.

Mike

Was it a low key one?

Gary Elliott

Yeah, I think so.

Gary Elliott

I mean if they were to do it then I think it'd be like the casting would be great.

Gary Elliott

I think he would be really good.

Gary Elliott

However, the only thing I can go on with Power, I could be wrong here.

Gary Elliott

The only thing I can go on with Palps's history is that.

Gary Elliott

And that's from the Plagueis book.

Gary Elliott

Nothing really happens with Palps until he gets into his kind of like his.

Mike

20S, 30s, isn't it?

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

And even then nothing really happens because he plays, as we know, because that character's so good at playing the long game.

Gary Elliott

He kind of established himself as a bit of a sort of low key political figure and then just behind the scenes, you know, does his thing quite slowly.

Gary Elliott

So casting wise, if they were to ever do it, yes, I think Hiddleston would be good story wise, narratively.

Gary Elliott

I just don't think there's enough meat on the bones unless they just make stuff up.

Gary Elliott

Unless they just retcon his stories backstory and throw in a load of cool stuff perhaps.

Gary Elliott

But as it stands at the minute, yeah, it's not much.

Gary Elliott

Nothing really happens with him until we get closer to him.

Gary Elliott

The Phantom Menace.

Mike

Well, it's.

Mike

Well, I think what's interesting about this entire setup is that there's opportunity probably to do like a Plagueis short series and just, you know, try and tie up some of the acolyte threads with come here because he was such a good character.

Mike

And, you know, if you wanna.

Mike

If you want to bank a bit, just do something like that where you finish those stories, you lean on Plagueis and you introduce Palpatine as the next apprentice.

Mike

And it doesn't need to.

Mike

Like you said, everything that Palpatine did was manipulating banking clans with Plagueis and stuff and learning how to do stuff.

Mike

He didn't really go out and.

Mike

Well, certainly not according to the Plagueis book.

Mike

He was not doing stuff like you said, out in the galaxy.

Mike

He was being a politician and learning to be a badass sith behind the scenes.

Mike

So it's.

Mike

But again, you're sort of in this challenging position where you've got a book that people love and Jason, the big neck Bee, Nikki, BJB is gonna just fly off the handle in it.

Mike

It's gonna fly off the handle.

Mike

Oh, this was not in the Plagueis.

Mike

But.

Mike

No, it's not.

Mike

It's not, is it?

Mike

And it show you then back to the same issue, man.

Mike

Yeah, it's tough.

Mike

It's real tough.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, he'd lose it, old jb, wouldn't he just.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Straight on the Internet.

Gary Elliott

Twitter X.

Gary Elliott

Star wars is over.

Mike

Chuck all his Star wars stuff away.

Mike

But he'd like you do it like Brent when he throws out the paper magazine.

Mike

You know what I mean?

Mike

Oh, I'll just place it on the bin and go back and get it at midnight.

Mike

Crying.

Mike

I'm sorry.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

I didn't mean to.

Mike

Millennium.

Mike

It's not you, it's them.

Gary Elliott

Hiddleston night dude would be good.

Mike

I like Kiddleston, mate.

Mike

I think he's really good.

Mike

I really like him.

Mike

I think he's good just overall.

Mike

So I think.

Mike

I actually think, like, he's very good as Loki, but it's sort of like that's like an easy role.

Mike

It feels, you know, he's just.

Mike

I think he's even.

Mike

I think he's just better than Loki, which I'm not saying I don't like Loki because I think he's good in that.

Mike

But.

Mike

Yeah.

Mike

Well, the next one is interesting.

Mike

So this.

Mike

This scoop of my time to shine.

Mike

Hello.

Mike

Has been doing the rounds.

Mike

We did this last week.

Mike

He scooped or they scooped another thing and they're calling it a scoop.

Mike

It's not.

Mike

It's a rumor.

Mike

They've been doing everything, man.

Mike

They've been doing everything.

Mike

Daredevil, Spider Man, Avengers, Doomsday, Secret Wars.

Mike

This.

Mike

This scooper allegedly knows everything.

Mike

Right?

Mike

So it's clearly Made up.

Mike

But again, who knows?

Mike

So the rumor is that one Henry Cavill is in talks to play someone in Star Wars.

Mike

And then the article just goes on basically to list out every potential movie that is in the works by.

Mike

By virtue of doing that.

Mike

Trying to link the fact that he could be part of any one of these.

Mike

Of course he could, because they are movies that are in development and they need people.

Mike

And then what they're doing is linking it to from 2016 at Cavill's post, where he's got some diving gear on.

Mike

He's swimming in the sea with some diving gear on, and he says, love, you know, to paraphrase, love being Superman.

Mike

But out here being like a villain in.

Mike

In Star wars or ready to play a villain in Star wars, clearly referencing the fact that his mask looks like Darth Vader.

Mike

He's not saying I want to be a villain in Star wars, is it?

Mike

So I think this has just come.

Mike

I think it's just made up from that.

Mike

However, I like Henry Cavill.

Mike

It was good in Superman.

Mike

I thought it was a great Superman.

Mike

Eat if you disagree with me.

Mike

That's right.

Mike

I'm Jason the Neckbeard.

Mike

The other thing I liked him in.

Mike

I liked him Mission Impossible.

Mike

Really liked him in Wolverine, Deadpool and Wolverine.

Mike

Thought it was really cool in that one.

Mike

Apparently he's in talks for a Marvel thing, but I'm gonna go out here and say if he was going to be in Star wars and he was going to be a villain, give me a Darth Bane trilogy with him in it.

Mike

He would be a really good Darth Bane.

Mike

Big, strong, scary.

Mike

Could start as the mine worker with the hair and everything else, and then just the descent into being Darth Bane.

Mike

I think he would nail that, man.

Mike

He's a right nerd as well.

Mike

He's one of us.

Gary Elliott

Yes, Agreed.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

I like.

Gary Elliott

I like Cavill.

Gary Elliott

I think he's.

Mike

He likes you.

Gary Elliott

He's a cool.

Gary Elliott

He does.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Shook his hand a few seconds longer than he's comfortable.

Gary Elliott

So I knew.

Gary Elliott

I knew he got this for good.

Gary Elliott

And I.

Gary Elliott

I think my, you know, I think one of my fave Superman films with him, man of Steel, is just still, you know, back in the early days before DC unalived themselves with all the.

Gary Elliott

That was such a cool film.

Gary Elliott

And he was great, so.

Gary Elliott

And he did show a little bit of.

Gary Elliott

I wouldn't say too much of a darker side, but when he was in the Witcher for five minutes, he was.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, he was pretty cool in that.

Gary Elliott

Showed a bit of a darker thing.

Gary Elliott

So Darth Bane.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, I can see that, mate.

Mike

Yeah.

Mike

I think he would be good for that.

Mike

He's a big lad.

Gary Elliott

He's a beast sometimes, man.

Gary Elliott

Jesus.

Mike

Big lad.

Mike

Big lad.

Mike

He's definitely got the physicality for it.

Mike

So, yeah, no, I will see a lot.

Mike

Clearly a room.

Mike

This my time to shine.

Mike

Hello.

Mike

Dude is literally everywhere right now.

Mike

Anything.

Mike

They're scooping anything and everything.

Mike

So we'll just see on that one.

Mike

But, yeah, I would never be a verse from recovery or anything.

Mike

I think he got done dirty by dc.

Mike

I think he was brill, regardless of some of the other Snyder stuff.

Mike

I thought the Superman stuff was good.

Mike

Like, they were getting close to a very good Superman then.

Mike

I agree.

Mike

Man of Steel was great.

Mike

I really loved man of Steel.

Mike

I thought it was a mint film.

Mike

That's another neckbeard syndrome in it.

Mike

Our Superman wouldn't do that.

Mike

He would.

Mike

He's there.

Mike

It's literally written down that he's done that.

Gary Elliott

God, yeah.

Gary Elliott

Superman doesn't have a hairy chest.

Gary Elliott

Who said that?

Mike

Yeah.

Gary Elliott

Oh, I don't know who specifically said it, but all the comic.

Gary Elliott

No, no, no, no, no.

Mike

In it.

Gary Elliott

It's fine, mate.

Gary Elliott

In it.

Gary Elliott

Superman didn't have hair chest.

Mike

Superman kill.

Gary Elliott

Get my laptop.

Gary Elliott

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Mike

My Chromebook.

Gary Elliott

I need my Chromebook right now.

Gary Elliott

Coming, honey.

Mike

Do you want some milk?

Mike

No, Mom, I'm an adult.

Mike

Okay, I'll save it for later.

Gary Elliott

Thanks, Mom.
