Hey there and welcome back to the The well podcast.
Speaker:I'm your host, Amanda.
Speaker:And today we're diving into the magical world of new year's resolutions.
Speaker:But don't worry.
Speaker:We're not talking about hitting the gym more often.
Speaker:We're going to explore how this time of year is a golden opportunity to reset both our personal and our professional goals.
Speaker:So, whether you're juggling board meetings and ballet recitals or spreadsheets and soccer games, today's episode is for you.
Speaker:Let's jump in.
Speaker:First of all, why is new year such a big deal for goal-setting?
Speaker:Well, it's like hitting the refresh button.
Speaker:It's a chance to leave behind what didn't work last year and start with a completely clean slate.
Speaker:I like to think of it as just a big reset button.
Speaker:You could also think of it as a yearly software update for your life.
Speaker:And just like any update, it might bring some unexpected bugs, but most.
Speaker:But mostly it comes with cool new features and improved performance.
Speaker:As a techie.
Speaker:I love that analogy because that's exactly how we get excited about our updates on our computers, our laptops, and our phones.
Speaker:As parents, we often put ourselves last, but remember a happier, you means a happier family.
Speaker:So let's set some me-time goals this year.
Speaker:It could be as simple as reading a book instead of watching more Netflix.
Speaker:Or you could be learning a new hobby.
Speaker:Like I am with deejaying and electronic music.
Speaker:Or you could just take an uninterrupted bath once a week.
Speaker:And that's not forget our little kiddos.
Speaker:Setting goals with them can be a blast.
Speaker:Maybe it's a family game night every Friday, or working on a DIY project together.
Speaker:It's about making memories and growing together.
Speaker:You're going to remember these memories.
Speaker:You're going to cherish these memories.
Speaker:So why not set some goals with your kids and go through the journey together with them?
Speaker:Now, when it comes to the work side, the professional side of things as parent preneurs, our time is our most valuable asset.
Speaker:This year, I suggest you focus more on working smarter and not harder.
Speaker:I like to use this term called smart cuts rather than shortcuts you take smart cuts, doing things that are more efficient and maybe getting things done quicker or just not doing them at all.
Speaker:You could delegate tasks start using some new digital tools or software.
Speaker:Or when it comes to the business, it could even be improving your marketing strategies so that you have to rely less on inefficient tactics and strategies that aren't working anymore.
Speaker:One of the things I've talked about on previous episodes is this idea of no hurry.
Speaker:No pause.
Speaker:And the idea behind that is you don't rush to do things because when you do things too quickly, they end up either not happening correctly, or you end up making mistakes.
Speaker:But also pausing has the same effect.
Speaker:If you take too long.
Speaker:And decide to delay things and defer things sometimes that can snowball and actually have negative effects.
Speaker:I remember small steps lead to big changes.
Speaker:So this year work on setting more realistic and achievable goals.
Speaker:In addition to having a couple of stretch goals in there, things that push you.
Speaker:They excite you, they get your thoughts and your imagination racing.
Speaker:I hope you feel inspired to tackle this new year with enthusiasm and a sense of purpose and meaning.
Speaker:Remember, and the grand juggling act of life.
Speaker:It's okay to drop a ball or two.
Speaker:The key is to pick them up and just keep going.
Speaker:Until next time keeping last time and don't forget to subscribe for more tips on parenting wellness, entrepreneurship.
