Here's some stuff you might want to know about new data from Kroll's cyber risk team says, and this won't be a big surprise to anybody. The healthcare industry.

wins the most breach category for 2024. 23 percent of all incidents in their survey affected healthcare with finance being a really close second at 22%. Kroll's global head of identity theft and breach notification says that healthcare data can be worth up to 1, 000 compared to the measly five bucks for a credit card number.

Of course, One of the reasons that health care was the most breached in 2024 was, of course, the change health care hack. It's been a year since the massive change health care breach that affected almost half of all Americans and the notification letters are still going out. United Health Group, who owns change health care, says that those notifications may be going out for quite some time.

And finally today, there's a website you might not know about, but Cyber companies that you use probably use this site. Your own team may use it. You may have even been there yourself. It's called Have I Been Pwned. It's an organization whose mission is to serve as a database where folks can check and see if their email has ever been stolen in a data breach.

And if it has, Where did it show up on the dark web? There's a really fun and interesting story on the new site about how the have I been pwned website got started. That site now tracks nearly a thousand separate data breach incidents. By the way, the term pwned is a pretty well known term in the gaming community.

It's for when someone gets killed by an opponent and sometimes kind of feels like that when your personal info gets ripped off in a data breach. That story and a ton of other health care tech and security stories are at one of health care's fastest growing news sites, ThisWeekHealth. com slash news.
