VOICEOVER:

[singing]

VOICEOVER:

Hello.

Chelsey Donn:

Hi.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs] So-

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, my Gosh.

... Chelsey Donn:

I quickly pulled Goldie on after that intro, and she has her crown on.

Trey Gerrald:

A crown!

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my gosh.

Trey Gerrald:

How is that attached to her head?

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, uh, like party hat, actually, she's leaving it on.

Trey Gerrald:

Good girl.

Chelsey Donn:

You hate it so much.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Anyway-

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, my God.

Chelsey Donn:

Welcome to Review That Review, the podcast dedicated to reviewing-

Trey Gerrald:

Reviews.

Trey Gerrald:

We are just like Siskel and Ebert only instead of being crotchety old white men,

Trey Gerrald:

We are fun, vibrant white people, who rate and review those hilarious, scathing,

Chelsey Donn:

And That over there is Trey Gerrald.

Trey Gerrald:

And that over there as Chelsey Donn.

Chelsey Donn:

And together, we are-

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens.

Trey Gerrald:

And listeners, guess what?

Barbara Walters:

This is 2020, this 2020, this 2020, I'm Barbara Walters.

Barbara Walters:

And this is 2020.

Trey Gerrald:

It's our 20th episode.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God, Barbara.

Chelsey Donn:

That was so nice of you to make an appearance.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

She has a very, very expensive quote, but she arrived.

Chelsey Donn:

She arrived.

Trey Gerrald:

Here we are, 20 episodes.

Chelsey Donn:

20 episodes-

Trey Gerrald:

What do you think about?

Chelsey Donn:

I just can't even believe it's happened.

Chelsey Donn:

I remember the very first rehearsal and-

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Chelsey Donn:

... one day maybe someone in Patreon will see it, but I think we've come a long way Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm proud of us.

Chelsey Donn:

How do you feel?

Trey Gerrald:

I feel good.

Trey Gerrald:

Most podcasts don't make it past their fifth episode.

Trey Gerrald:

So we've got 15 on them.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God, yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Look at us.

Trey Gerrald:

You had a reveal and now I'm prepared for my reveal!

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God, stop.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey why don't you describe what I'm wearing?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

It's very Regal.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like a Regal necklace, almost like collar-esk, like a bandana, like

Trey Gerrald:

In preparation for Halloween, which is a few weeks away.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, is this a teaser?

Trey Gerrald:

My family, David and our two dogs do annual Halloween pictures that are top secret.

Trey Gerrald:

No one knows the theme until Halloween.

Trey Gerrald:

And this is a little tease!

Trey Gerrald:

What, what are you?

Trey Gerrald:

What's your guess?

Trey Gerrald:

Why do you think I'm gonna be for Halloween?

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God, this is it.

Chelsey Donn:

This is all I got, this necklace?

Trey Gerrald:

For today.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, God.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you like a judge?

Chelsey Donn:

Like a fancy judge?

Trey Gerrald:

Good question.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

First of all, the highlight of my year is this photo shoot that you guys do.

Chelsey Donn:

And I'm so excited this year to see how we're gonna integrate Hunter-

Trey Gerrald:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Chelsey Donn:

because he's new to the bunch.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

But if you guys haven't seen these already, it's, it's worth the Instagram scroll.

Chelsey Donn:

Like go on Trey's page, @TreyGerrald.

Chelsey Donn:

Fabulous.

Chelsey Donn:

We had, what do we have?

Chelsey Donn:

We had the Dalmatians one?

Trey Gerrald:

Cruella DOG Vil

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

So Winnie was dressed as Cruella, we were Dalmations.

Chelsey Donn:

That's right.

Trey Gerrald:

And then we also did Cinderella and evil stepsisters.

Trey Gerrald:

She was Cinderella.

Chelsey Donn:

So good.

Trey Gerrald:

We did Little Shop, she was the Plant, I was Audrey, David was Seymour.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

And last year we did, uh, The Wizard of Oz.

Trey Gerrald:

So she was Dorothy.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I was Glinda, the good witch, David was the wicked witch.

Chelsey Donn:

Killed it, so good.

Trey Gerrald:

And um, this year we have Hunter who has to be in the mix.

Chelsey Donn:

It's so worth, lock guys.

Chelsey Donn:

You don't even understand how good it is.

Trey Gerrald:

I think this year's going to be very epic.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, anyway, so my week has been deep in the throws of stitching and hot

Trey Gerrald:

Where in the process, you know, Hunter as a rescue, as every listener knows.

Trey Gerrald:

And so I've, I've been trying to get him comfortable with wearing a sweater because-

Chelsey Donn:

Good call, you got to get him comfortable.

Trey Gerrald:

Because he will be in costume.

Trey Gerrald:

They do make sweaters that you can step into and zip up down the back.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So we're gonna have to go with that.

Chelsey Donn:

That might be the way.

Trey Gerrald:

'Cause my hand has been bitten way too many times.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, no.

Chelsey Donn:

So the dress rehearsals have been a bit intense?

Trey Gerrald:

And I have to be stitching on stuff I have to hand make Hunter's costume.

Chelsey Donn:

You're so amazing.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel like it's like your inner Southern queen comes out and you make these costumes by hand.

Trey Gerrald:

It's gonna be good.

Trey Gerrald:

Anyway that's-

Chelsey Donn:

It's gonna be-

... Trey Gerrald:

that's how my week.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

And now here we are celebrating the 20th

Trey Gerrald:

episode.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, how was

Trey Gerrald:

your week?

Chelsey Donn:

No major complaints.

Chelsey Donn:

I just got Goldie groom for the first time.

Trey Gerrald:

Beautiful.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

So I took her there and I got to say like, I feel like I've been working hard, you know?

Chelsey Donn:

And I feel like this is gonna work, maybe gonna like launch into a little

Trey Gerrald:

Go for it.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel like I have been brushing her at home.

Chelsey Donn:

I've made a conscious effort and I brush her, but she's a puppy and puppy hair

Trey Gerrald:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Chelsey Donn:

And so the, the groomer called me and they were like, Chelsey

Chelsey Donn:

And then I got kind of like a lecture a little bit when I got there.

Chelsey Donn:

And I'm like, what do you want me to do about this?

Chelsey Donn:

Like, do you want to charge me extra for the matted situation?

Chelsey Donn:

'Cause if you do just charge me extra, that's fine, I get it.

Chelsey Donn:

If you had to spend extra time on her, absolutely fine.

Chelsey Donn:

But like, why are you lecturing me?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm trying over here.

Chelsey Donn:

So anyway, it was a great week.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

And then I guess I got a little bit annoyed, [laughs] when

Chelsey Donn:

It feels like, I don't know if you've ever experienced this Trey 'cause I

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, really great question.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

But I did one of my first summer stocks and I was body painted, like spray-painted.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I was spray-painted for like two weeks, and then they

Trey Gerrald:

So we had to like sponge it on literally with kitchen sponges.

Trey Gerrald:

This was un- I can't-

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God.

... Trey Gerrald:

I can't get into it.

... Trey Gerrald:

Oh, well my God, this is that theater company where I wrote that scathing thing-

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God.

... Trey Gerrald:

that I can't find.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, it sounds like it's well deserved [inaudible 00:06:30].

Trey Gerrald:

But-

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

... Trey Gerrald:

I had to be, I had to use Veet wait, is that right?

... Trey Gerrald:

No, no, no.

... Trey Gerrald:

It's the song.

... Trey Gerrald:

What's that?

... Trey Gerrald:

Um, female razor that Venus-

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, Venus.

... Trey Gerrald:

I'm your Venus, you know where it has the-

Chelsey Donn:

[crosstalk 00:06:42].

... Trey Gerrald:

little soap on it.

... Trey Gerrald:

It's like-

Chelsey Donn:

I'm intimately aware, 'cause that's the only razor I buy.

Trey Gerrald:

So that, so I did have to shave my legs, uh, when I was doing that job.

Trey Gerrald:

But somehow we went into that because you were asking me if I've ever shaved.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

The point is, or I was actually, if you've ever been waxed.

Chelsey Donn:

Because it's like them telling me that Goldie was matted when it's like, I knew there was like

Chelsey Donn:

And then afterwards the person's like, you have a lot of hair.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, yeah, I know I have a lot of hair-

Trey Gerrald:

That's why I'm here.

... Chelsey Donn:

and that's why I'm here.

... Chelsey Donn:

I'm here to like have the hair removed.

... Chelsey Donn:

So it was like, I'm taking her to the groomer because this became a situation outside of my own

... Chelsey Donn:

right there.

VOICEOVER:

Lodge A Complaint.

Chelsey Donn:

I just went right into it.

Chelsey Donn:

Listen, it's fresh for me.

Chelsey Donn:

At least she got to look really great for her queen moment, you know?

Chelsey Donn:

Anyway, Trey it's your turn.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Today my complaint is also fresh on my mind because today I went to Costco.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, yeah, can be a situation.

Chelsey Donn:

What happened?

Trey Gerrald:

This is not specific to Costco.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

But what do you call those, um, what do you call the things

Chelsey Donn:

A cart.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

In South, we call them buggies, but-

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

... Trey Gerrald:

that's like one of those things in my life that I constantly have

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

because I still want to say buggy, but if I say buggy, it's a whole thing.

... Trey Gerrald:

So I have to say cart.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like how I trained myself to say, it's cement, it's not SEE-ment, or it's-

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

an umbrella, not UM-brella, insurance instead of IN-surance.

Chelsey Donn:

It's kind of cute, but yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

When you, when you're pushing the cart-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

and someone is just diagonal in an aisle, they're not on the right, what

Chelsey Donn:

Trey [crosstalk 00:08:30] his, his eye is like twitching, right now, I want

Trey Gerrald:

Like you go down an aisle to the right, because people

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

... Trey Gerrald:

which is their right.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

But when someone is just diagonal in the middle, they're not

Chelsey Donn:

Just goin rogue.

... Trey Gerrald:

not even concerned that you're there.

... Trey Gerrald:

Not even acknowledgement that you're there.

... Trey Gerrald:

It's as if they're presenting Costco.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

Olivia is presenting Costco today.

Chelsey Donn:

Costco by Olivia.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

Literally.

Trey Gerrald:

Literally today, there was like a woman with the child, the child was in the seat.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

And then there was another woman with a child behind them with their own cart.

Trey Gerrald:

And then a man was like picking up like a 17 gallon thing of vegetable oil.

Trey Gerrald:

And none of them were like trying to move, none of them were like, even acknowledging me.

Trey Gerrald:

And so I just, I, I didn't like say anything because I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

But gosh, that bothers me.

Trey Gerrald:

Like-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

like everyone is navigating, you're all navigating.

... Trey Gerrald:

I don't understand why you aren't just like pulling to the side or moving over so

Chelsey Donn:

Totally.

Chelsey Donn:

And it's hard to feel like you can tell that person, like, please move without feeling

Chelsey Donn:

Like you don't want to be that person.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I'm also, you know, years of having lived in New York City, I'm not trying

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, true.

Chelsey Donn:

That is true.

Chelsey Donn:

I think there should be some sort of cart etiquette.

Chelsey Donn:

Were there arrows-

Trey Gerrald:

No.

... Chelsey Donn:

on the ground out of curiosity?

... Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

... Chelsey Donn:

Maybe we could have, maybe that could be a complaint like Costco maybe.

Trey Gerrald:

So this actually was like on the end between aisles.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, they were congested, oh, that's even worse.

Trey Gerrald:

It was worse really, that was like-

Chelsey Donn:

That's, so, they were like basically blocking off like two aisles.

Trey Gerrald:

They were blocking off two aisles and the guy was going in between the two aisles.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, no.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It really was like perplexing to me that no one was concerned about hurrying.

Chelsey Donn:

And also the shopping carts at Costco-

Trey Gerrald:

Are giant.

... Chelsey Donn:

are like huge.

Trey Gerrald:

That really is part of the problem.

Chelsey Donn:

And they can be heavy too.

Trey Gerrald:

They are.

Chelsey Donn:

You know?

Trey Gerrald:

They really are.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Those carts are heavy and unwieldy and it's, it's hard to navigate

Trey Gerrald:

I'm just always aware that like other people are trying to navigate.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

So I, I just try to make sure I'm not in other people's

Chelsey Donn:

Uh, how do we feel?

Trey Gerrald:

I think I'm ready to do the thing.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm so glad you're ready.

Chelsey Donn:

As you guys know, Trey and I are your trusty Review Queens with our

Chelsey Donn:

Um, we bring you reviews from the internet that we feel need to be inspected.

Trey Gerrald:

We dissect the nitty gritty.

Chelsey Donn:

And then we rate them on a scale from one to five crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

It's a very regal process that we call-

VOICEOVER:

Assess That Kvetch!

Trey Gerrald:

And today we're bringing you yet another versus episode.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

It's true.

Chelsey Donn:

It's another special edition episode.

Trey Gerrald:

So, today Chelsey and I are going to cover a one-star review and a

Trey Gerrald:

That's hidden somewhere in the details in the middle.

Chelsey Donn:

That's right.

Chelsey Donn:

For this versus episode, Trey selected the five-star and I selected the one-star.

Chelsey Donn:

So to determine who reads first, we gotta flip that quarter.

Chelsey Donn:

Alright, Trey, am I calling it or are you?

Trey Gerrald:

I think you call it.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Tails.

Trey Gerrald:

It's head.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

I lost, it's okay.

Chelsey Donn:

First time for everything.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

That means you're gonna go first,

Trey Gerrald:

That's right.

Chelsey Donn:

All right guys.

Chelsey Donn:

So today we are going head to head for a cake shop in Los Angeles called Roobina's Cake.

Chelsey Donn:

Roobina's Cake was founded in 2013 here in Los Angeles, and they do very elaborate art cakes

Chelsey Donn:

They've done stuff for The Today Show, they've really, they've gotten their name out there.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's hear from one of the people that was very happy with Roobina's Cake, so happy

Chelsey Donn:

All right, Trey, let us know.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review.

Trey Gerrald:

So I had so many options to choose from.

Chelsey Donn:

So many.

Trey Gerrald:

Littered with 5-star reviews, but today I chose a Yelp 5-star review-

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

... Trey Gerrald:

written by Nadia A.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Our wedding cake was one of the things our guests raved about after the wedding.

Trey Gerrald:

So we knew for sure, we made the best decision by choosing Roobina's Cake.

Trey Gerrald:

A good number of our guests asked us where we got our cake.

Trey Gerrald:

That it's the best cake they have ever had at a wedding.

Trey Gerrald:

My friend said that cakes are the one thing people criticize at the reception the most.

Trey Gerrald:

And that ours was the best cake she had ever had at a wedding.

Trey Gerrald:

I was shocked because I didn't know people take it all that seriously.

Trey Gerrald:

But aside from being shocked, I was happy and pleased that we made such a great choice.

Trey Gerrald:

We chose two flavors and both flavors were delicious and mouth watering.

Trey Gerrald:

When we walked into Roobina's Cake on Glenoaks, we just walked in to look around,

Trey Gerrald:

We felt comfortable and excited right away.

Trey Gerrald:

Because of his pleasant welcoming, we instantly knew we wanted to work with this place.

Trey Gerrald:

I had an idea and pictures of what kind of cake I wanted, but there were a few options,

Trey Gerrald:

Armen gave me his advice and showed us pictures of his previous client's cakes, and suggested what

Trey Gerrald:

So we decided on a style, we did cake testing and every flavor was amazing.

Trey Gerrald:

Armen was also super helpful in, and giving us references and sent us to a

Trey Gerrald:

The end result was beautiful and unique.

Trey Gerrald:

Everyone loved how it looked and how it tasted.

Trey Gerrald:

We were very happy about that, and are very thankful to Armen for helping us out.

Trey Gerrald:

The service at Roobina's Cake is wonderful.

Trey Gerrald:

Please see the two photos I have attached taken by Len and Jersaw Photography.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

The reason I liked this review is because Nadia takes us through the entire

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

... Trey Gerrald:

walking in, feeling taken care of, feeling supported, and how to

... Trey Gerrald:

And also how it was like a showstopper at the event.

Chelsey Donn:

I definitely got that.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that she said the whole phrase about this was the best cake at any

Chelsey Donn:

I believe she's had that like three or four times, does she not?

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

So obviously she really felt this way, and wanted to, to hit it home.

Chelsey Donn:

Because of that, I like for a moment, I was like, is this a fake review or something?

Chelsey Donn:

Because she's like, keeps speaking in these absolutes, like the best ever, the best ever.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I haven't had a wedding yet, but I feel like people are very invested in this process.

Chelsey Donn:

So it kind of makes sense that she would feel so enthusiastic about it.

Trey Gerrald:

It did occur to me like, well, I don't know who your friend is, so

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, that's like that harsh-

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

critical voice in my mind.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I was also wondering, I guess it's true.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm trying to remember, I guess like the cake's a big deal.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, it is definitely the, the cake is a very, very big deal.

Chelsey Donn:

But I've everything else at a wedding was amazing.

Chelsey Donn:

Do you think that people would walk away and be like, oh, that cake, I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe that is a known thing.

Trey Gerrald:

Also Armen was, was highlighted as the sales person here.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

That's gonna come up later.

Trey Gerrald:

That they really take your hand and walk you through the experience.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I think that this person definitely wanted us to know that beyond the cake tasting

Trey Gerrald:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Chelsey Donn:

I feel like this review could have been a third of the length

Trey Gerrald:

That's interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

Because I know like you're so happy and pleased, everybody was so happy and

Chelsey Donn:

Armen was cool.

Chelsey Donn:

And so I just, I don't know that there's like a ton of substance there,

Chelsey Donn:

I'm just not really sure, you know, how queenie this review is, in terms of emotional attachment.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know that I really know that much about Nadia at this point.

Trey Gerrald:

I think that at the beginning of the review, Nadia sets us up that way because

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

I was shocked by that, that people took it that seriously.

Trey Gerrald:

It felt like Nadia wasn't extremely emotionally attached, was more so like pleasantly surprised-

Chelsey Donn:

Got it.

... Trey Gerrald:

that people were so in love with that.

... Trey Gerrald:

That sort of sense is throughout the entire review-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

... Trey Gerrald:

in my opinion.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

But I do think that the value of this review lives in the

Trey Gerrald:

They were told like the floral shop that would work with them.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

And then the pictures they attached are freaking gorgeous.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like a six tier cake, flowing flowers.

Chelsey Donn:

I was gonna say, I feel like review credibility instantly

Chelsey Donn:

'Cause it's like, you're explaining the vision of how this all went.

Chelsey Donn:

And then you're showing me photographic evidence.

Chelsey Donn:

So I'm much more likely to believe that this could be an experience that I could also have.

Trey Gerrald:

For some reason, there isn't the phrase mouthwatering grosses me out, but-

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

... Trey Gerrald:

isn't that weird.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, I have that similar reaction.

Trey Gerrald:

But I do also appreciate because you can't tell taste from a photograph.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

There, there are multiple times where Nadia describes the two

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

that it wasn't just pretty to look at.

Chelsey Donn:

But I mean, that speaks to how good the cake must be, because

Chelsey Donn:

She, she had to go for two.

Trey Gerrald:

Exactly.

Trey Gerrald:

And then spelling and grammar is great.

Chelsey Donn:

Sounded good.

Trey Gerrald:

And I believe Nadia, I also kind of appreciate like the coolness

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

It doesn't seem like Nadia is very...

Trey Gerrald:

drama.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Which is good.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe that's, maybe, you know what, that's a good point.

Chelsey Donn:

Like maybe that's what I'm missing in Nadia's review is, I'm so used to when we have these

Trey Gerrald:

High emotional.

... Chelsey Donn:

and there's so much energy coming out of them.

... Chelsey Donn:

And she's just sort of like, wow, like didn't know this was a big thing, but it's a big thing,

Trey Gerrald:

I would imagine that this is probably a common experience.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean-

Chelsey Donn:

I would think so.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, obviously we know a little bit based on the like plethora of 5-star reviews, but

Chelsey Donn:

Like we come in, we see Armen, we go through this process, we have vendor recommendations.

Chelsey Donn:

So, you know, just based on the information that we're getting in this review, it seems

Trey Gerrald:

Correct.

Trey Gerrald:

And I will-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

say like probably 80% of the impact comes from the images because-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, that's true.

... Trey Gerrald:

maybe we'll put these on the Instagram-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

'cause this cake you guys is like-

Chelsey Donn:

Is it beautiful?

... Trey Gerrald:

it really is a showstopper.

... Trey Gerrald:

This is like, you would talk about this cake after the wedding.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, even if someone was shot and mur- if Lincoln was assassinated-

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

... Trey Gerrald:

at this wedding you would still-

Chelsey Donn:

[crosstalk 00:20:19] about the cake-

... Trey Gerrald:

talk about this cake.

... Chelsey Donn:

those beautiful.

... Chelsey Donn:

I love that.

Trey Gerrald:

So, I mean, I feel like I could crown this- how, what do you think?

Chelsey Donn:

Um, I think I'm ready to crown it.

Chelsey Donn:

The only thing we didn't really discuss is humor, which we think wasn't really funny.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

But other than that, okay, let's do it.

Chelsey Donn:

Let let's crown Nadia A.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey and I each have our own set of one to five crown cards and in an effort to be fair

VOICEOVER:

The Queens Are Tabulating.

Trey Gerrald:

You ready?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm ready, in between, but yeah, I think I'm ready.

VOICEOVER:

Total Score.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I gave it three crowns, Trey gave Nadia A, four crowns, I guess I will go first.

Chelsey Donn:

I gave Nadia three crowns just 'cause again, I didn't get Review Queen vibes.

Chelsey Donn:

It's kind of like a vibe thing, but I did get some information that I feel like is useful, and I was

Chelsey Donn:

So I think there's value there.

Chelsey Donn:

So that's where the three crowns came from for me also clearly did a copy edit.

Chelsey Donn:

So Nadia earned those three crowns from me, but because of the lack of humor, and the

Chelsey Donn:

Trey, why did you give Nadia four crowns?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I totally agree with everything you said.

Trey Gerrald:

For whatever reason the mood I'm in today-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

the lack of chaos, drama, high emotion, sort of like is appealing to

... Trey Gerrald:

It is, it is the impact is somewhat boring.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

But I, I didn't think it was middle of the road, I was

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Trey Gerrald:

but I just went with the four because I, it's not entertaining,

... Trey Gerrald:

And also these images are-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

the real like impact for me is the experience Nadia had, that it's sort

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

And it's always so nice to see the like customer images as opposed

Chelsey Donn:

So that's true.

Trey Gerrald:

It's true.

Chelsey Donn:

I didn't think about the photo, but okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Good job, Nadia A.

Trey Gerrald:

Thanks Nadia.

Chelsey Donn:

Way to kick off this 1 V 5 episode with a bang, so to speak.

Trey Gerrald:

Bang, bang into the room.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's uh, let's take a quick break.

Chelsey Donn:

And when we come back, we'll hear an entirely different side of the story.

Chelsey Donn:

You know what I mean?

Trey Gerrald:

Ooh, can't wait.

Trey Gerrald:

Get your sugar ready!

VOICEOVER:

Hold your crown.

VOICEOVER:

We'll be right back.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

It's game time, everyone.

Trey Gerrald:

It's time to jump on the Meryl-Go-Round.

VOICEOVER:

I don't feel like an icon, most of the days I feel like I can't.

VOICEOVER:

That's with an A.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Here's the deal.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey and I have each picked a rotten scathing pithy one star zinger and 30 seconds on the clock.

Chelsey Donn:

We'll take turns, reciting the zinger in as many genres as possible.

Trey Gerrald:

Just like queen Meryl Streep, who does it all.

Chelsey Donn:

Before the clock runs out.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, Chelsey, what is your zinger for today?

Chelsey Donn:

My zinger for today is from Williams-Sonoma.

Chelsey Donn:

I wanted to keep a little bit in theme here.

Chelsey Donn:

So I am going to be reading a 1-star review about the Flower Shop Rainbow Pop-Up Cake Kit.

Chelsey Donn:

This review was written by Iowa.

Chelsey Donn:

No last name, and the subject is, sounded like a great idea.

Chelsey Donn:

And the review is, these were ridiculously time consuming, expensive, and not that good.

Trey Gerrald:

[inaudible 00:24:26].

Chelsey Donn:

So, that's how Iowa feel about that.

Trey Gerrald:

Iowa.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

That's a cool name, actually.

Trey Gerrald:

If it's like a person's day.

Chelsey Donn:

I know, I sorta like it.

Trey Gerrald:

Today, you are strapped in on Curious George.

Chelsey Donn:

Uh, love that.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

You ready?

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

VOICEOVER:

Three, two one, go.

Trey Gerrald:

Disney

Chelsey Donn:

These are ridiculously time consuming, expensive, and not that good.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

WWE.

Chelsey Donn:

These are ridiculously and time consuming, expensive, and not that good.

Trey Gerrald:

Musical theater.

Chelsey Donn:

These are ridiculously time consuming, expensive, and not that good.

Trey Gerrald:

Melodrama.

Chelsey Donn:

These are ridiculously time consuming, expensive, not that good.

VOICEOVER:

Three, two, one.

Trey Gerrald:

Shakespeare.

VOICEOVER:

That's all.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

That's all.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Queen, you got four.

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you, that was a long one for me.

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you.

Trey Gerrald:

It was long but that was good.

Chelsey Donn:

All right Trey, tell us where your zinger is from.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So I stayed in theme as well.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So I have a review from target.com.

Chelsey Donn:

I've heard of it.

Trey Gerrald:

I've heard of that, for Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip Cake Mix & Frosting Bundle.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I just have to point out quickly that we both did a rainbow item.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, my God, oh right.

Chelsey Donn:

Just that, great minds.

Trey Gerrald:

How gay of us.

Chelsey Donn:

How gay of us.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, all right.

Trey Gerrald:

So this is from Disappointed Evan.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

[laughs] The subject is more expensive and Disappointed Evan's 1-star zinger

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, sorry.

Trey Gerrald:

You can buy the cake mix and buy the frosting and you'll save 11 cents.

Trey Gerrald:

But when you buy the bundle together, you're paying 11 cents more.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh wow.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow, I'm so glad that I know that now.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey, I think I'm gonna have you shop into like the Sophie the Giraffe.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh yeah-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

those [inaudible 00:26:34] baby toys.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

squeaky, squeaky squeaky.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, this was 'cause I'm so tiny.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you ready?

Trey Gerrald:

I'm ready.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's do it.

VOICEOVER:

Three, two, one, go.

Chelsey Donn:

Teen drama.

Trey Gerrald:

11 cents more than individually bought.

Chelsey Donn:

Pop star.

Trey Gerrald:

11 cents more than individually bought.

Chelsey Donn:

Sport announcer.

Trey Gerrald:

11 cents more than individually bought.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, sorry, superhero.

Trey Gerrald:

11 cents more than individually bought.

Chelsey Donn:

Opera diva.

Trey Gerrald:

11 cents more than individually bought.

VOICEOVER:

Three, two, one.

VOICEOVER:

That's all.

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you for extending that aria to the end.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

You are the winner with five, good work.

Trey Gerrald:

[inaudible 00:27:29].

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

I just feel-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Are you gonna buy me a Roobina's Cake for this?

Chelsey Donn:

Um, maybe, what's I know maybe a Roobina cookie.

VOICEOVER:

Review that review.

Trey Gerrald:

Okaleedokalee, we are back from the break and now it is Chelsey Donn's turn.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

We are now gonna be hearing a different side entirely.

Chelsey Donn:

So this is the 1-star review.

Chelsey Donn:

Now I just feel like I always end up picking people with these names that

Chelsey Donn:

I'm gonna spell it, and then we can discuss it.

Chelsey Donn:

So the name is J-E-A-N-A last initial is A.

Chelsey Donn:

So is that Gina or Jeana, Jeana

Chelsey Donn:

? Trey Gerrald: I think it's

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

So shall we go with Jeana?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, Jeana.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Jeana, this is Jeana's, Jeana A is an elite Yelp reviewer and she is

Chelsey Donn:

And this is Jeana is 1-star review of Roobina's Cake.

Chelsey Donn:

I put off writing this review for so long, I think because I wanted to

Chelsey Donn:

Roobina's was hands down the most stressful part of my wedding planning.

Chelsey Donn:

My husband and I had decided on Truly Yours Catering for our wedding.

Chelsey Donn:

And in the process of getting all the details together, found out that they use Roobina's

Chelsey Donn:

I set up an appointment with Armen for 12:00 PM on a Saturday, to which we arrived promptly.

Chelsey Donn:

Only to find Armen actively working with another customer.

Chelsey Donn:

No one greeted us, we just stood there awkwardly for about 15 minutes.

Chelsey Donn:

Until we just took it upon ourselves to sit down and wait.

Chelsey Donn:

At that point, Armen went to get his associate from the bakery to assist us.

Chelsey Donn:

This woman seemed to have no idea what was going on.

Chelsey Donn:

She didn't even greet us, just sat down and stared at us.

Chelsey Donn:

She was unfamiliar with a Truly Yours package.

Chelsey Donn:

Was trying to charge me all these extra fees, served us stale cake.

Chelsey Donn:

And was quite aggressive and rude.

Chelsey Donn:

She kept having to go over to Armen, to sort out what we were talking about.

Chelsey Donn:

And even as we left the place, I still was totally unsure what our cake would look like,

Chelsey Donn:

At this point, I reached out immediately to Truly Yours, to try and remedy the situation.

Chelsey Donn:

It took six months to get an answer, which was a month before my wedding regarding

Chelsey Donn:

Once we knew, I tried to move past the frustration and you know, have a good wedding.

Chelsey Donn:

The day of the wedding was rough.

Chelsey Donn:

We had 110 plus weather, but what made it worse was while we were trying to take

Chelsey Donn:

And then kept trying to steal flowers-

Trey Gerrald:

What?

... Chelsey Donn:

from our sweetheart table flower arrangements to cover it up.

... Chelsey Donn:

It was the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen.

... Chelsey Donn:

Not to mention incredibly stressful on the day of your wedding.

... Chelsey Donn:

If that wasn't bad enough a month after the wedding, I kept getting texts from

... Chelsey Donn:

I promptly told them I did not.

... Chelsey Donn:

And referred them back to our catering company and that we were all paid up for everything.

... Chelsey Donn:

Please people don't go here for your wedding needs.

... Chelsey Donn:

Maybe they do better work for less stressful occasions, but it honestly was the worst

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, no Chelsey.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, Jeana had an experience.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh no.

Chelsey Donn:

Isn't it so hard to hear these things said about Armen, and this experience

Trey Gerrald:

Wait.

... Chelsey Donn:

from what we heard from Nadia?

Trey Gerrald:

I like literally want to cry-

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

... Trey Gerrald:

thinking about the delivery person-

Chelsey Donn:

Dropping the cake.

... Trey Gerrald:

that's drops the cake.

... Trey Gerrald:

I literally feel like I'm tearing up.

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Trey Gerrald:

Why am I having a distraction?

Trey Gerrald:

What do you do?

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I also have a whole other question.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you think that maybe Roobina's Cake is short-staffed,

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

If you have a business-

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Trey Gerrald:

and you have an appointment at noon-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

and someone walks in and is going to spend $600 on a cake, how do you

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Like do I see this person that just stopped in knowing I have an appointment?

Trey Gerrald:

I think a good start, which Jeana points out is that they

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

I think you could be like, hey, I am, I am so sorry, um,

Chelsey Donn:

Right, right.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I think there is like a slick way to deal with that, it sounds very clear

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, especially 'cause they had to keep reporting back to Armen.

Chelsey Donn:

It was like, they were just literally there to be a body in the room with

Trey Gerrald:

It also is really funny to me to imagine like this woman from the

Chelsey Donn:

And stirred at them.

Trey Gerrald:

Can you imagine this be like-

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

... Trey Gerrald:

and like-

Chelsey Donn:

How awkward.

... Trey Gerrald:

smelling like sugar.

Chelsey Donn:

And then what about the idea of like, because of that interaction, not really

Trey Gerrald:

Six months, six months.

Chelsey Donn:

Six months.

Trey Gerrald:

Which was one month before the wedding.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Like that actually sounds to me like an issue with the catering company, Truly Yours.

Chelsey Donn:

You think so?

Trey Gerrald:

I, I did start, I did start to think like-

Chelsey Donn:

What is Truly Yours and what is Roobina's?

Trey Gerrald:

Well.

Trey Gerrald:

I think that the experience that Jeana had in the store is horrible.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

I do also think that there needs to be like, uh, grace period of time.

Trey Gerrald:

Like if you co- if you have an appointment and an appointment is running over-

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

like I get the 15 minutes is a really long time to not even be addressed.

... Trey Gerrald:

And then you take it upon yourself to sit down, and then they send someone

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

Like, it seems like it was snowballing-

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

but when you immediately reach out to Truly Yours to say, like this

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

and it's part of my package with you-

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

so something needs to be worked out here, then I think that it's Truly

Chelsey Donn:

At that point to intervene.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, I mean, I also wonder just because I'm so glad that we, we brought in the

Chelsey Donn:

Whereas with Nadia, she didn't choose them.

Chelsey Donn:

So a couple of things.

Chelsey Donn:

One, I wonder like, was she kind of judging it or like bringing a

Chelsey Donn:

'Cause she was like, oh, and we have to go with this cake place or something like that.

Chelsey Donn:

Or did the cake place treat her not as nice because they weren't a direct customer

Chelsey Donn:

Like, did they have an arrangement with Truly Yours where maybe they pay a flat

Chelsey Donn:

And so maybe they don't treat those customers as nicely or prioritize them as much as they

Trey Gerrald:

But I would imagine that if you were a cake company-

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Trey Gerrald:

your bread and butter is like wedding cakes.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

So like you would think that you-

Chelsey Donn:

You would be able show up.

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

It does seem to me that they were short-staffed and like suddenly

Chelsey Donn:

Seems like that.

Trey Gerrald:

I think that there needs to be some way to handle that.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

So all of that, that's just the first part of this review.

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Trey Gerrald:

That actual wedding day-

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

... Trey Gerrald:

and it gets dropped.

... Trey Gerrald:

I, I mean, if you are Roobina-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

that is something that has to, like, there has to be a plan.

Chelsey Donn:

There has to be a plan.

Trey Gerrald:

A contingency something.

Chelsey Donn:

Absolutely.

Chelsey Donn:

That is the worst faux pas.

Chelsey Donn:

That is the wors- how do you even charge someone for cake after that, you know?

Trey Gerrald:

I mean for the man hours of making a cake but like-

Chelsey Donn:

I guess so, but I mean like, but without providing a replacement.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't even know how you-.

Chelsey Donn:

Run another cake over there, I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Like they've got to have like plain wedding cake in the back, in the fridge, ready to go just

Chelsey Donn:

Especially on a day, which we didn't talk about this really.

Chelsey Donn:

But they said it was 110 degrees-

Chelsey Donn:

Oh.

Chelsey Donn:

... which I like, what does that do to a cake to begin with?

Chelsey Donn:

Like, does that melt a cake at 110 degrees?

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I would imagine that's not ideal cake weather.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm just, I still can't get over the guy dropping it.

Chelsey Donn:

I know, I know.

Trey Gerrald:

And then the claim that they were stealing flowers from the sweetheart

Trey Gerrald:

So maybe it was, so I guess it wasn't smashed, it wasn't a completely ruined.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

It was sort of like we can deal with something.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, it was like in a Oopsie Daisy that like, maybe we can fix it with some flowers.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, God.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know, I mean, Jeana said that they were taking pictures at the time.

Chelsey Donn:

So it made me wonder, like, did Jeana see this go down?

Chelsey Donn:

Like, was she taking-

Trey Gerrald:

I wonder that too.

... Chelsey Donn:

her, her photos?

... Chelsey Donn:

And like, while she's trying to smile with her fiance soon to be husband for these pictures.

... Chelsey Donn:

She's seeing out of the corner of her eye that our cake is being dropped.

... Chelsey Donn:

'Cause like that's trauma right there.

Trey Gerrald:

It seems to me that if a cake is dropped, if you're, the story

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

because the cake was dropped.

... Trey Gerrald:

That makes me think it's no longer a cake.

Chelsey Donn:

You mean that it's just like completely dropped and it's like in pieces on

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

My imagining was that it tumbled and went head first onto the ground, which I'm

Chelsey Donn:

Right, like you're seeing that happened in your head in slow motion.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

Terrifying.

Trey Gerrald:

But I did, I did also to your point, I did wonder-

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Trey Gerrald:

did Jeana view and witness the person dropping it-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

or was it like messed up, and the story was, oh, it was like knocked or,

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, did it turn into a rumor mill?

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

And then the last part of this review is the bickering about the remaining-

Chelsey Donn:

The money.

... Trey Gerrald:

the money, which is so odd.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

That once, see, I need to, I, I want to hold up a flag here-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

about Truly Yours.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

What is going on there?

Chelsey Donn:

I agree.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I had a thought about that.

Chelsey Donn:

It seems like Jeana is handling a lot of this interaction when a lot of this interaction

Chelsey Donn:

Like isn't that the whole point of hiring one of these companies is that

Trey Gerrald:

I see, but see here, but also-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

because you hire this catering company that has this

Chelsey Donn:

Correct.

... Trey Gerrald:

I wonder if it's like, your package consists of this much-

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

for the wedding cake.

... Trey Gerrald:

And if you end up going over that, then you have to pay the remaining balance.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe, but if that were the case, then don't you think that

Trey Gerrald:

You were saying.

... Chelsey Donn:

and you can get any of these.

... Chelsey Donn:

And if you want to get something from like this page or that page, then it's this much more.

... Chelsey Donn:

If you want to have like two flavors of cake, instead of one flavor of

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I think that the major problem that occurred is it seems

Chelsey Donn:

And then they, instead of just like trying to own up to that fact, they tried

Chelsey Donn:

And like you said, just snowballed from there, and we're not getting the information

Chelsey Donn:

Like, there's just a lot of confusion that I think could have been cleared up, had that

Trey Gerrald:

What is Jeana spelling and grammar like.

Chelsey Donn:

Very good and clean.

Chelsey Donn:

We used all caps sometimes, but again, not in a way that is like abusive.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel like I felt Jeana's passion in this review, I feel like if I were somebody-

Trey Gerrald:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Chelsey Donn:

that was getting married, I would, I mean, I hate to say it, but I think

... Chelsey Donn:

There's so much of this that I think would make me queasy, but then I guess it's hard

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

... Chelsey Donn:

individually, this sounds like a terrible experience.

... Chelsey Donn:

Like, oh my God, never ever going there.

... Chelsey Donn:

But then knowing that Roobina's has like what?

... Chelsey Donn:

4.6, seven or eight out of five on Yelp, like this could have been an anomaly.

... Chelsey Donn:

This could have been a really bad day, it was 110 degrees.

... Chelsey Donn:

This could have just been, I don't know, just like really, really bad luck.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

You know?

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, to me, I'm not sure what I think the, the impact of this.

Trey Gerrald:

It, it feels like a series of unfortunate events.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I, well, I think I can get into it in my, um-

Chelsey Donn:

In your assessment at the end.

Trey Gerrald:

crowning.

Chelsey Donn:

Should we go ahead and crown?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, let's do it.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens Are Tabulating.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey are you ready?

Trey Gerrald:

I'm ready.

Trey Gerrald:

Are you're ready?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm ready.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm ready here.

VOICEOVER:

Total Sccre.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know what's happening today.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey is holding up four crowns, and I'm holding up three and a half crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey you start us off.

Trey Gerrald:

Ugh, this one was hard for me because I don't think that this is a deal

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Only because I think that the customer service in the shop was a little askew-

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Trey Gerrald:

I don't think you can run a business that like, I think there was an error there, yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

But then dropping the cake obviously is no one's intention.

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

So it just seems horribly unfortunate.

Trey Gerrald:

I just keep thinking about this catering company.

Trey Gerrald:

I feel like Jeana like wasn't supported.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

And the claims about covering with their stolen flower, like all of

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm, I'm, I wasn't humorous, I was entertained from like terror, I almost-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

... Trey Gerrald:

I was teary-eyed about the person dropping the cake.

Chelsey Donn:

Dropping the cake.

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Trey Gerrald:

It would make me want to, um, inquire about the transportation.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

That is like, that's why I gave it four.

Chelsey Donn:

That's a lasting impact for sure.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's why I gave a four.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Why did you do three and a half?

Chelsey Donn:

I feel, I actually three and a half because of something that you brought

Chelsey Donn:

So that's, I took off the one and a half crowns, but I do think it's impactful.

Chelsey Donn:

I do think this is Jeana's experience, and I think that's really unfortunate.

Chelsey Donn:

I would not put it on Roobina's that this would definitely happen to me, if I was gonna use them.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, if that first meeting did not go well, I think I would just jump ship right then and there.

Chelsey Donn:

But I don't think it would necessarily keep me from using Roobina's.

Chelsey Donn:

And for that reason I gave Jeana three and a half crowns.

Trey Gerrald:

That's fair.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

VOICEOVER:

There's A Reply!

Chelsey Donn:

There's a reply, from Roobina.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I am, really intrigued here because I need to know if, if there's something misleading-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

... Trey Gerrald:

I want to know what's happening.

... Trey Gerrald:

Tell me, tell me, tell me.

Chelsey Donn:

I think you are being a very good detective.

Chelsey Donn:

So, all right.

Chelsey Donn:

So this is from Roobina Z.

Chelsey Donn:

She is the business owner of Roobina's Cake.

Chelsey Donn:

And this is her reply to Jeana.

Chelsey Donn:

Hi, Jeana, I'm really sorry for your experience with our reception in our store.

Trey Gerrald:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Chelsey Donn:

But actually the situation in the venue, which you

Chelsey Donn:

The planner called us to deliver the cake earlier as planned to the venue because

Chelsey Donn:

Uh, we didn't drop the cake, but delivered like all other cakes.

Chelsey Donn:

As you mentioned, it was 110 degrees outside.

Chelsey Donn:

They put the cake outside for a few hours, but later your planner called us

Chelsey Donn:

We sent our designer to the venue to redesign the damaged cake, which was not our responsibility.

Chelsey Donn:

After that, your planner asked her if she can design the cake with the

Chelsey Donn:

Instead of that gave her a few dirty cactus to put on the cake.

Chelsey Donn:

She rejected, but your planner said is okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Our designer tried to find flowers, but there wasn't enough in the box to put on the cake.

Chelsey Donn:

And also to design the cake table only a few small damaged flowers.

Chelsey Donn:

Your planner said she can take some from tables and design the cake,

Chelsey Donn:

And also she didn't steal flowers from your sweetheart table.

Chelsey Donn:

It was your wedding planner, which gave her the permission to do that.

Chelsey Donn:

Regarding asking for payment month later, you are right, but it wasn't clear for us who is

Chelsey Donn:

I'm really sorry about that.

Chelsey Donn:

But as I mentioned in several response to reviews, we deliver every weekend, more

Chelsey Donn:

We try to do our best to make our customers happy.

Chelsey Donn:

We don't need 5-star reviews, but happy customers.

Chelsey Donn:

Only happy customers make encourage us to serve them better, and even make them

Chelsey Donn:

I hope you'll read my comment all over again and reconsider your decision

Chelsey Donn:

Armen will call you and discuss with you regarding this issue.

Chelsey Donn:

Because the last thing we want is to have an unhappy customer.

Chelsey Donn:

I am sure we can make you again so happy that you will forget all those miscommunications.

Chelsey Donn:

I am writing this comment, not because of me or my business, but my team, which works every

Chelsey Donn:

Roobina.

Chelsey Donn:

What do we think?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm

Trey Gerrald:

so conflicted.

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Trey Gerrald:

Like for a while I was sort of like, are these just excuses, but then when

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

we were wrong and trying to seek payment from you, that was a miscommunication.

... Trey Gerrald:

With the caterer, once again-

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

... Trey Gerrald:

that I really did feel like, oh, well, if they're owning up

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

that there was something wrong with the planner and the florist.

... Trey Gerrald:

And it, I mean, the whole thing about someone moved it is fishy to me-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

because like what, then it does throw in this whole story about the planner.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

But I can get the honesty in Roobina wanting not five stars, wanting happy customers-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

which breaks my heart.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I like, I really liked that at the end.

Chelsey Donn:

And, and like, it kind of put things into perspective for me, even though, like, I

Chelsey Donn:

But when you're, churning out this many cakes all the time and people are working

Trey Gerrald:

Well, that really stood out to me.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

We have 60 cakes going out every day.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

That sort of excuse or that sort of statement actually had the-

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, it's okay.

... Trey Gerrald:

opposite effect on me.

... Trey Gerrald:

It made me think, okay, well-

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not, I'm not those 59 other cakes.

Trey Gerrald:

I understand that Roobina is famous.

Trey Gerrald:

And that if you are at that level as a cake maker-

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

... Trey Gerrald:

you probably having that high of an inventory.

... Trey Gerrald:

But I don't know.

... Trey Gerrald:

Maybe it makes me feel like, all right, well, if there's 59 other cakes, then maybe mine

... Trey Gerrald:

Or like, I don't know, it sort of rubbed me the wrong way, but-

Chelsey Donn:

I just, I just like I do, after I read this reply, I did see a world

Chelsey Donn:

The cater was like, oh, we got to move the cake it's in the sun or whatever it was.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

And then went to move it, and like sort of dropped it or mess it up.

Chelsey Donn:

And then frantically called the cake company back to be like, oh my God, oh my God-

Trey Gerrald:

Please help, please help.

... Chelsey Donn:

you've got to help us.

... Chelsey Donn:

Please come over here.

... Chelsey Donn:

And then Roobina 'cause she keeps repeating over and over again, like

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

... Chelsey Donn:

the, the way that she's painting it.

... Chelsey Donn:

And again, believe her or not believe her, but the way that she's painting it is this

... Chelsey Donn:

Meanwhile, they're getting blamed for everything that's happening on the caterer side.

... Chelsey Donn:

So what I wonder is, was I being lied to, because it seems really easy in tense moments like this.

... Chelsey Donn:

I can imagine something like that happening and being like, I hope

... Chelsey Donn:

And then passing the buck onto the cake company.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, all we can do is take into consideration the three

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

... Trey Gerrald:

but it does occur to me once again, I have a little red flag for the catering

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

like, they don't want to say, oh, the assistant actually nudged it-

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

... Trey Gerrald:

and it's a problem.

... Trey Gerrald:

So like, let's try to take care of like, let's not upset the bride.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

there was some sort of breakdown in communication between Truly Yours Catering-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

... Trey Gerrald:

and Roobina's Cake on this one contract.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

I think at the end of the day, Roobina did take credit for like, she sorry that the, that

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

And this planning Armen to call her.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

And having Armen call, exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

So she did take accountability for the things that were on their side of the street, for sure.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, and then to their credit.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, if they're not responsible for the other part of this, I can

Trey Gerrald:

Spell that out.

... Chelsey Donn:

spell that out.

... Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, I think that the impact for me now getting all of this story

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Back to the original point-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

... Trey Gerrald:

is that it does sound like Roobina has a contingency plan because

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

... Trey Gerrald:

and, and address an issue.

... Trey Gerrald:

That's a little more like comforting.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

And it seems, I do believe Roobina.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, I believe 'cause they really took ownership for the things that could have been

Chelsey Donn:

It is, it's, it's an unfortunate circumstance for sure.

Chelsey Donn:

And with that being said, I feel like we are both team, Roobina's Cake.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean like sorry Jeana, like terrible experience seeing you fully, but also like

Chelsey Donn:

Thanks.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe we should take a look at that catering company for an upcoming episode.

Chelsey Donn:

I'll, yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

You're right, yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

We should do that.

Trey Gerrald:

I will make it a little note.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Well we did it-

Trey Gerrald:

Fun-

... Chelsey Donn:

mean we've reached the most legal portion of our show.

... Chelsey Donn:

Who are you Trey inducting for?

VOICEOVER:

My Royal Highness.

Trey Gerrald:

This week, I am inducting Caller ID.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Isn't that something that needs a round of applause.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Let me tell you, we are, we both are of the age, where we were

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Let me tell you, life without Caller ID is a little movie called Scream.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

That's right.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you know that the sales of Caller ID boosted by 50% in America after Scream one?

Chelsey Donn:

Stop.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I made up that statistic-

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

... Trey Gerrald:

but I did do research.

... Trey Gerrald:

You know, any of you kids up there who just take for granted that your little

... Trey Gerrald:

There was a time in life when you didn't know, you had to say, 'hello?'

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, what about that whole line in Rent, like, 'Mark are you there,

Trey Gerrald:

'That's was a very loud beep.' Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, anyway.

Trey Gerrald:

So Caller ID, this gets a little like too nerdy and not interesting.

Trey Gerrald:

So I'm not really gonna go into it.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

But there in 1968-

Chelsey Donn:

Uh-huh [affirmative].

... Trey Gerrald:

Ted Parra Slovako started making a bunch of patents that like were

... Trey Gerrald:

And then it took a long time in the '76, 1976, there was a Japanese inventor, Hashimoto-

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

... Trey Gerrald:

made some more patents and then it came over to America.

... Trey Gerrald:

It was happening in Brazil at the same time.

... Trey Gerrald:

So a lot of people were starting to get on this train.

... Trey Gerrald:

But I just want to induct Caller ID because I don't really like people.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

That, that, that might not really be a true statement.

Chelsey Donn:

Is that a full-stop?

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know if that's real, that might be in this pearl necklace-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

... Trey Gerrald:

but like, you know, I don't really need to communicate all the time.

... Trey Gerrald:

And so I am someone who will gauge at what my response is gonna be when I see who's calling.

... Trey Gerrald:

And I'm just gonna own that because we all do it.

... Trey Gerrald:

And if you are gonna judge me, then look in the mirror.

... Trey Gerrald:

Anytime it's an unknown number, bitch I don't answer that.

... Trey Gerrald:

Get real, honey.

... Trey Gerrald:

You're gonna block that, you're gonna stop 69, me bitch, I'm gonna

... Trey Gerrald:

start 67, your ass.

... Trey Gerrald:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

I don't even know if those are right, but-

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know but I liked it.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm inducting Caller ID-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

... Trey Gerrald:

for my Royal Highness, because look, having more information is always queenly.

Chelsey Donn:

I couldn't agree more.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey how about you?

Trey Gerrald:

Who are you inducting from my Royal Highness today?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to induct, Allison Janney as my Royal Highness.

Chelsey Donn:

She's just such a kind amazing person.

Chelsey Donn:

And I don't want this to sound weird, but I was doing a theater program in Williamstown.

Chelsey Donn:

Williamstown Theater Festival I was an apprentice there.

Chelsey Donn:

And we did everything from like read lines with people to pick up trash with trash picker.

Chelsey Donn:

And there was this event that was called a Zoo, and where we would be up all night and we

Chelsey Donn:

And then afterwards, the next morning I needed to pick up trash.

Chelsey Donn:

And Allison Janney sees me at the coffee shop.

Chelsey Donn:

And she kind of like taps me on the shoulder and she's like, "Honey, are you hung over?"

Chelsey Donn:

And the point is I was, but I also had been picking up trash since 6:00 AM.

Chelsey Donn:

And then years later, I saw her again at a speaking event she was doing.

Chelsey Donn:

And I was chatting with her afterwards and telling her about this story about

Chelsey Donn:

And then we were amongst other people having conversation.

Chelsey Donn:

And in the middle of that, she just tapped me on the shoulder and she

Chelsey Donn:

And she just, she yes anded this opportunity that I had with her that

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

... Chelsey Donn:

in a funny way when I was a kid, And I just want to say, ' beyond

... Chelsey Donn:

I mean, she's been working consistently for a very long time, but she was

... Chelsey Donn:

And she has this amazing perspective about going after this career and just following on that path.

... Chelsey Donn:

I remember at one point she referenced some, a book with like the red bicycle or

... Chelsey Donn:

And she said that as she was going through the time and not being where she wanted to be,

... Chelsey Donn:

And I just think Allison Janney is such a mensch and I love her and everything that she does.

... Chelsey Donn:

So, I just figured I'm gonna induct Allison Janney, and um, yeah, I was, I was hung over.

... Chelsey Donn:

So thanks for asking.

... Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

We love Alison Janney, she's a...

Trey Gerrald:

her greatest performance to date, it is Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Trey Gerrald:

'Did you get that on camera?

Trey Gerrald:

Most smartest.'

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs] Uh, she's the best.
