Audio 1summary season 6:

Kev, here we are. The end of season six.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, and it's been a another success, I think.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, it's been a really fun season, I think.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, and I think we've had a range of topics that we've discovered.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, we really have talked about all sorts of different things with different people.

Audio 2summary season 6:

feel

Audio 1summary season 6:

like I've learnt a lot again.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, I didn't think I would learn so much, people are obviously learning from what we are doing as well. So I think there's a two-way street here that we are all learnings.

Audio 1summary season 6:

absolutely, and that is the great benefit of doing a podcast, isn't it? Is that you, you're learning yourself, and it gives you an excuse to contact people. Talk to them about their specialist area and you're learning from them while you're doing that.

Audio 2summary season 6:

mean, I would never have talked to some of the people that we've had on the podcast. If you think of Alison and, you know, her podcast where we were celebrating successes was, was great, wasn't it?

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, absolutely. She was the first guest for season six. Talking about mindset, talking about, like you said, celebrating successes, but we even wandered around all sorts of things, talking about past experiences, talking about whether you drove like your parents drove. So, you know, do you inherit your driving style? We talked about all sorts of things in that episode. I think that was a really great start to the season.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, and then we had Priya.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yes. So, I mean, that was fantastic. That took us ages to manage to organize dates because she's so busy and we're quite busy, not quite as busy as she is. And that was just a fantastic episode and it was something we really, really wanted to talk about, didn't we? Those links between Nutrition, what you eat, what you drink, or what you don't eat and don't drink, and how that fits in with anxiety, and whether that could have been a cause of mystery anxiety for some people. And of course, the answer is yes.

Audio 2summary season 6:

definitely was, wasn't it? And again, he's looking at things from a different viewpoint.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, and that subject is relevant to all drivers, whether they're learners, whether they've been driving for years, or somewhere in between.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Or, even outside, just in normal life as well, isn't it? So, that's something I took away from that episode. We also had Sally, talking about bridges and tunnels and lorries, which I found really interesting.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, that was another really fun episode, wasn't it? We, we all really enjoyed recording that. So, and then the irony of the fact that we were talking to her about the Seven Bridge and literally a few days later, we were on the Seven Bridge.

Audio 2summary season 6:

And you can understand why people do have a fear. You know, when we was crossing that, we looked at it, and it's a massive bridge, isn't it?

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, yeah. So yes, you can understand it. And at the same time, those strategies where she was talking about, you don't have to look at the scenery, you can just focus on the road. And then that visualisation of imagining your tyres gripping to the road. And so, yeah, it was a really useful episode.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Definitely. And we even had some of our friends on.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yes.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Talking about Sat Navs and their Sat Nav stories. Which is, I mean, for me it was quite funny. And I think when people were telling us, it's a funny story, isn't it? But there's also something serious behind it.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, absolutely, and Things do happen, life is an adventure sometimes, but not to let that put you off. the risk, managing that risk, knowing what might happen and having your strategies. So virtually everybody said my advice would be to be more prepared or to know where I was going in advance so that the Sat Nav was an aid, not my only source of information. So Yeah, I think there was lessons to be learned there as well as accepting that everybody's continue to drive. Everybody is continue to use their sat nav. And actually what they've come out with is a story that they can entertain other people with.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, and it definitely entertained me. Yeah. We also had the Trust and Confidence episode, which again I use loads now, and I suppose I've made more of it since we've been doing this, for talking about how much do people trust their driving.

Audio 1summary season 6:

and it's, this is one of the interesting things, isn't it? We're not only learning from our guests, but also when we're having those conversations together, we're deepening our thinking, we're developing our own skills. thoughts and using it a bit more with our clients, which is great. And yeah, I really think that sort of like switching some of that language sometimes to trust instead of confidence can can just switch things switch your mindset a little bit as well. Yeah,

Audio 2summary season 6:

And I think it links then to the confidence. Yeah. So, you know, you, you trust your driving.

Audio 1summary season 6:

That

Audio 2summary season 6:

you more confident.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Absolutely.

Audio 2summary season 6:

So yeah, that was absolutely a nice episode. That was a nice

Audio 1summary season 6:

it was.

Audio 2summary season 6:

And we've done some how to's. We looked at how to adjust your mirrors so you can actually see. I mean, that was probably and I think I said in the podcast, just make sure the mirrors are there to help you. And whatever you're doing, make sure you can see.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, and adjusting them to suit what you're doing and then adjusting them back again. So it's not a case of setting them up once and they forever remain the same.

Audio 2summary season 6:

And then we also had a podcast about us and Vanessa. So it was on telly, wasn't we?

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yep, yep.

Audio 2summary season 6:

which was, again, uh, an experience.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yep. And so there we talked about the pitfalls of believing everything that you hear on the TV or read in a blog or the paper. So actually looking at the research, looking at the facts behind things. So I think that's a pretty good life lesson for everything, not just for driving. No, exactly. And then, of course, we had a returning guest, so we had David come back on to come and talk to us about that one year on from passing his driving test, and it was so lovely to hear how he's progressed, how he's doing with his driving, and those sort of moments that he's had, so still learning, still growing in confidence, but also some of the lovely moments of being able to achieve some of his goals,

Audio 2summary season 6:

Stuck in traffic, wasn't he? You know, in that sort of experience you probably never get when you're having lessons because it's like, Yeah, we're not going to do that. We'll, we'll avoid that area today. So he's getting stuck in traffic and he's still building himself up to get on the motorway. Which is fine, isn't it? Because he's doing it at his own pace.

Audio 1summary season 6:

he's also experienced that freedom of being able to go and visit family members. And of course, that joy that he described of being able to drive to the seaside, which was one of his big goals.

Audio 2summary season 6:

is lovely, isn't

Audio 1summary season 6:

isn't it? Yeah, it's great to hear from him and his success. And hopefully that encourages other people as well.

Audio 2summary season 6:

So,

Audio 1summary season 6:

of course, now that we're at the end of the season, that means that we're going to take a bit of a season break again. The same as we did in the summer, because that worked really well for us, didn't it? In terms of planning, preparation and getting everything, making sure that we have some really good episodes for you. So. The same as we did back in the summer, we will put in some little shorts which are just short moments taken from some of our oldest episodes that perhaps you haven't heard for a while or maybe you've not managed to go back and listen to them. So hopefully those shorts, they'll be around the 5 10 minute mark and they'll just give you some little snippets. bursts of previous episodes that will hopefully help you out. Now, as well as that, of course, we're going to have New Year come up while we're on our season break. So what we thought we'd do is we will rerun the New Year driving challenge that we set earlier on New Year this year. So yeah, I will just republish those episodes and it's a series of episodes, they're daily in that week that just gives you some little tasks to do day by day. So if your New Year's goal or your New Year's resolution is to make some improvements in your driving confidence, then this is for you.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Definitely.

Audio 1summary season 6:

And they're very short.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Which is bite sized.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, they're bite sized. I mean, if you put them all together, then they would make one podcast episode. But we've, because they're daily, it's just one bite sized task to do each day and that will get you through until we start season seven. And

Audio 2summary season 6:

And I suppose what we're also doing now is looking forward, to our next season, Season 7. And we have some, important milestones that we're going to be achieving.

Audio 1summary season 6:

We do, really important milestones in season seven. So we are heading very quickly towards the 50, 000 download mark. So that will be achieved, I think, quite early on in season seven, actually. So that's going to be a big one. Plus,

Audio 2summary season 6:

Come

Audio 1summary season 6:

February. That will be two years since we started this podcast.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Which seems like years ago.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, it just, well it does and it doesn't, it's flown. So it really has gone by quickly. And when we started, we would never have thought that we would be

Audio 2summary season 6:

Two years

Audio 1summary season 6:

years

Audio 2summary season 6:

still doing this, people listening to us, and 50, 000 downloads, it's just like mind boggling, isn't it?

Audio 1summary season 6:

yeah, it's brilliant. But of course, the other thing that comes up. So this episode that we're recording right now is Episode 89. So what that means is that we're going to hit Episode 100 at the end of Season 7.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Which is another fantastic achievement for us, but also for the people that listen that keep us inspired to carry on as well.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yep, definitely. So, we need to get our thinking caps on, for what are we going to do to mark episode 100?

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, and this is where we'd like your help, isn't it? Yes, absolutely.

Audio 1summary season 6:

What do you want to hear? Who would you like to hear from?

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, recommend a guest that you would think do you know what that would be a really good guest for them to talk to that's going to help me and we will do our utmost to get that guest on.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah, or if you have some favourite guests who've appeared in the past, let us know. We'll see if we can get a bit of a party episode going on and have, have a few people on or some sort of compilation.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Let us know what your ideas are. What would make a great episode 100? What do you want to hear?

Audio 2summary season 6:

What do you want to hear? And who with? Yep.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Great, so I think we should wrap up this particular episode then. That's the end of season six.

Audio 2summary season 6:

Yeah, and hopefully you'll be doing lots of wrapping Christmas present wise as

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yeah. So, thank you very much for listening. We really, truly appreciate all your messages.

Audio 2summary season 6:

all

Audio 1summary season 6:

All your support.

Audio 2summary season 6:

And feedback, you know, because we're always trying to improve as well. So thank you once again from the two of us and we will see you in Season 7 in the New Year. But don't forget the shorts and also that New Year challenge that's going to get you back on the road.

Audio 1summary season 6:

Yep. So if if you'd like to get in contact with us for your ideas for episode 100, then all of our contact details are in the show notes as always. If you haven't already, then please consider leaving us a five star review on your favorite podcast player, because it really does help us to find new listeners and get in front of new people. It helps people to find us so that we can help others. So all that leaves us to say is, until next time, have a great day, whatever you're doing.
