Ep32: 6 Ways To Use Your Book To Generate Leads Inside Your Business [00:00:00] Today, I'm talking about six different lead magnets you can use for your non-fiction book.

[00:00:05] I encourage you to listen to this episode. If you have a business or if you want to start a business. using your book. So let's cover exactly what is a lead magnet. now. I'm sure you've heard the term before,

[00:00:16] but a lead magnet is something that's extremely valuable that you provide.

[00:00:21] to somebody in exchange for their contact details. And what I'm going to go through for this episode is I'm going to give you six different lead magnets.

[00:00:29] So six different valuable. materials that you can use to generate leads inside your business. It's great. If you either want to start your business or a great, if you want to grow your existing business, Was that a coaching business, a consulting business.

[00:00:43] service-based business, product business, any business where you can use your book as a powerful tool to generate leads.

[00:00:50] So I encourage you to think out the books a little bit when it comes to what you can use your book for. In terms of generating leads inside your business.

[00:00:59] But before I get into that, I want to let you know that before I had my book coaching business, I started an author business. So when I wrote the six pillars of rewarding life, I thought that was the beginning of my author journey as such. So I didn't, at that time, think I was going to be transitioning into book coaching.

[00:01:16] I thought I was just going to continue to write books and that's how it started. So the six pillars of rewarding life, I began using that book as a tool to generate leads, to get people onto. My email list so they can purchase my next books and books after that. And, and it didn't work out that way in terms of I pivoted.

[00:01:35] But when I wrote published to impact, I'm now using published to impact as a way to generate leads inside my book, coaching business. So how I use those leads and how I use those lead magnets are very different to how I used my book in the early days, how I use the six pillars of rewarding life.

[00:01:53] As you listen to this episode, think about the six types of lead magnets that I'm going to mention and think about how you can use them with your book inside your business.

[00:02:01] What is beneficial to your audience, to your readers, to people that you can bring into your world to, they can buy from you so you can create relationships with them and eventually offer the problem that they need solving. And then solving that problem for them. So let's not get into it. The first lead magnet that you can use off the back of your book is an actionable checklist or a cheat sheet. So your book is a solution to the problem of your audience that needs solving. Your audience are going to crave actionable steps, a checklist that you might include inside your book. If you're creating an actionable book is to create a checklist or cheat sheet. That's going to give key actions from your book in an easy to follow for that. This provides real immediate value and shows potential readers how practical and helpful your content is going to be. Now there's two ways you could use the checklist to build your audience and to generate leads inside your business. The first way is prior to your book being released.

[00:02:58] You can create that checklist that's going to be given inside the book. You can then start to offer this checklist to your audience to let them know that your book's coming out, that it's going to create a real buzz because there's something actionable that they've already got, and they're going to start getting more excited for your book and they're going to want to know more of what you have to say. So that's the first way. The second way is

[00:03:21] you can reference your

[00:03:23] checklist inside your book, that's where you want to direct your radar, where to go to get that checklist. So they've got your book, they're reading it. And they haven't signed up for your email list. They're not on your email list.

[00:03:34] How do they get in touch with you? Including resources is really valuable throughout your book. to get them onto your email list. So on one of your chapters, you might give them a topic overview, and then you have something valuable to offer them.

[00:03:46] That's going to take them to your email list, which is going to be that checklist. So you include your checklist resources, you direct them where to go on your website. And that's where they're going to sign up to get that checklist. And they've exchanged now your information. So you've included your free resources in that book.

[00:04:02] I'm sure you see it all the time where there's free content being promoted inside books as well. So that is lead magnet. Number one, a checklist or a cheat sheet.

[00:04:12] Lead magnet. Number two is a problem solving workbooks.

[00:04:16] So you might've created a workbook, which is additional to your book.

[00:04:20] And that workbook's going to guide readers through solving their specific problems. Step-by-step and it can be incredibly engaging this work, but manically exercises, templates, and prompts.

[00:04:30] Things that are going to help your radar apply the concepts from your book directly into their lives. And again, A lot of this stuff you can use as resources inside your book, where you direct them, where to go. So you create separate landing pages for these resources where readers can go.

[00:04:47] Lead magnet.

[00:04:48] Number three is a quick win guide. You can offer a guide that provides quick wins. That's related to your book topic. For instance, if your books about productivity, a guide with say five strategies to boost your productivity in a week. You can use that guide as a lead magnet to get people onto your list so you can solve their problem. At a higher level. With the products or services that you offer.

[00:05:13] And what this does. It not only provides immediate results. But also it builds trust in your expertise. All these lead maintenance are designed. To help people trust you and trust what you're offering help trust that you can solve their problem.

[00:05:27] So that's lead magnet. Number three, a quick wind guide lead magnet number four is what I use for my book published to impact

[00:05:35] and it's a resource toolkit. This is my

[00:05:37] major lead magnet that I use to generate leads inside my book, coaching business.

[00:05:41] I have this toolkit and it's called the book, writing startup toolkit. What's inside up templates outlines, checklists, all these different resources that are available all in one spot. This is the ultimate value toolkit that people can get.

[00:05:58] If they get my book or if I'm advertising it to them or if I'm advertising the toolkit, because the thing about this toolkit is. This didn't exist before I wrote my book. So you can create resources that are going to be included in your book, and you can use. those resources outside of your book as well. This toolkit is what helps people begin writing their non-fiction book

[00:06:20] and as I was writing my boot publishing impact

[00:06:22] I've created a lot of these resources individually, but I used it as well collectively.

[00:06:29] So, what are these different kinds of templates? I've got book writing templates. Proposal templates, so many different things that are going to help the reader start their books So they can at least have confidence in starting to write their book. So that's lead magnet, number four, a resource toolkit. You can think about putting all your previous materials that you've used inside your business, or start creating new materials and give that away as a form of a lead generation tool inside your book, or also outside your book, but make the toolkit relatable to your book that's the key here.

[00:07:00] You want to make sure that your lead magnets are related to the problem you're solving to your book. so that's easy for people to go and read your book, but it's also for people to really connect your personality, your business, your book with their problem.

[00:07:15] Lead magnet, number five, this is an interactive webinar or a workshop. So this can really elevate your engagement. So.

[00:07:23] Is particularly powerful. If you're a coach or a consultant, What you can do is you can host a prerecorded session where. You walk your audience through a specific problem and its solution and it's based on the strategies and concepts inside your book. So what they're getting is they're reading the content and you direct them to a webinar. Or a workshop where they see you on a video. Can you become more relatable to them because your reader can see, you. They can hear you. And that's going to just add another touch point and allow your audience to access to content at their convenience whilst still benefiting from your expertise. as well.

[00:07:59] Plus you can also incorporate opportunities to upsell your coaching services or content from that webinar or from that workshop.

[00:08:07] So think about what's inside your book. How can you use that book? To create a webinar to create a workshop that's going to help your radar. And that's going to help your reader and to create that know like, and trust

[00:08:19] so you can help them at that next level. With the problem that they need solving.

[00:08:23] And that is lead magnet, number five. So a webinar or a workshop. And finally a last lead magnet. And it's my favorite of course, is your actual book. You can use your actual book as a way to generate leads inside your business. When that book is digital or print. It's perfect because if you go to events, Instead of providing a business card. You give someone a book. That creates an establishes a connection and it's going to get you notice.

[00:08:53] So if you, if you want more clients inside your business, you can go to networking events. You can reach out to people and say, would you like a copy of my book? I think it's going to be suitable to help solve your problem. They'll go. Yeah, of course. For sure. It's very rare.

[00:09:06] Someone will turn down a book.

[00:09:07] And then when they get that book, they can start reading it and they can start to see, wow, this person's legit. They have credibility. And it's gonna want to make them work with you more than someone else who they may not have felt that connection they've received a business card instead of a book. It just creates an opportunity to make a meaningful connection. If you're giving someone a copy of your book.

[00:09:29] Because books are a very powerful way to help somebody. I mean, how many books have you read and you thought, wow, this is an awesome book. Imagine if that author gave you a free copy. That's what's really awesome.

[00:09:40] So, don't be afraid to use your book as a lead generation tool. I mean, if you have products and services, well, it costs you roughly $7 per book. So buy your books in bulk by about 10 to 20 to 30 books, however many you want. And when you go to events, hand them out instead of giving your business card, hand out the book. Yeah, it may cost you $7, but what can come more from that is something that's going to be higher value. You're going to get a meaningful connection out of it and you might get some business with it. So. Don't be afraid to use your book as a tool to generate leads. And that's the same as your digital book as well.

[00:10:13] Feel free to give out your digital book. I use publisher impact strictly as a lead generation tool. You can go and buy it on Amazon. But if you ask me, you can get a copy of it for free. Because I believe at the end of the day, the royalties that you get from your book. At the metric that you should be tracking, you should be tracking the meaningful connections you have the leads that have generated inside your business and as well, if you do own a business or a feeling to start a business, that's what's going to create meaningful connections with your potential clients and with your audiences. Well, it's not the royalties. So that is the final lead magnet is to give away your book.

[00:10:51] If you want to. generate more leads inside your business. And don't focus so much on the actual royalties. So they have it. I will recap the lead magnets in the show notes that you can have a look there as well. And if you want a copy of published to impact, it's available in the show notes, where you can reach out to me. Thanks again for joining me. and. I'll catch you on the next episode.
