Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Hello, everyone, everywhere.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Welcome to the Faith Based Business podcast.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

We're so blessed that you're joining us.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Praise the Lord.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Now, we've been talking all week now, in past several sessions, probably watching this on a recording about understanding the power of purposeful storytelling.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Okay.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

In your business and your ministry, whatever it is you're trying to do.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Last time we covered how to incorporate scripture as a foundation of your storytelling.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Now if you missed it, go back and catch up.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Okay?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Because, you know, today we're going to be talking about.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Let me go ahead and share the screen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

We'll jump into this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Today we're going to be talking about different ways that, that you can actually engage emotions in your storytelling.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And, and that'll provide a lasting impact, often long after the presentation is over.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

They're going to remember your presentation.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Glory to God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Now, first, you have to take your audience through the emotional journey of the story.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Okay?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You have to share the struggles.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You have to share the high points, everything you've experienced.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You have to give them an insight into your journey that you went on.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And this emotional movement helps them to feel the impact of your story more deeply.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

All right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Then as you share about how the outcome that you achieved made you feel, they'll experience the same feelings.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Using pace to God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You just can't go rushing into it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Let me tell you about the time I did this, this, this, and this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And boy, did I feel great.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Now here's what it's going to do for you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

That does nothing.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Okay?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You have to pace yourself as you're telling the story.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You know, if you're talking about experiencing trouble, heartache, you need to slow down.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Let the listener, let your audience feel that emotions.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And then as you transition over to the highs, you know, you can get excited about it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Oh, and this was finally going to work.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And now this was happening.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And this is so great.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You can pick the pace up a little bit, but you have to pace yourself to guide your audience.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

I said pausing just at moments just to let that message resonate for a little bit.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

A well paced story will build suspense.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

It'll emphasize the important points.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

It will allow your audience to truly connect with the emotional flow of your message.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Now, we've all heard someone tell a story that was long and drawn out.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And all we really wanted to say, we didn't, but we were thinking it was.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

We just get to the point already, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And the opposite's also true, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

How many times has.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Has Someone shared something with us, and they talk like they're on a clock, and it's already ticking down to zero.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You know, we can't even remember what the topic was.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

We just remember they talked at 100 miles per hour.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And, you know, you don't need to do that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You got to pace yourself.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Because if you pace yourself, then people will understand what you're saying.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Did you get that?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Don't be afraid to express yourself.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You know, genuine feelings, whether it's joy, fear, relief, you know, sadness, authentic emotions will make your story more relatable.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Help.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

It'll help your audience to feel the same thing that you felt, and that'll create that strong emotional bond.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

If you were worried, if you were concerned.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Afraid.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Sad.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Yes.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Happy.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You know, make sure you convey those feelings and emotions through the story, through your story.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You don't have to say, I was scared or I was happy.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Share the story in a way that conveys those emotions with examples.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Okay.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Say, okay.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

As I carefully opened the box, I didn't know what to expect, but then I seen a little puppy looking up at me expectantly.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

As I share that, you probably felt a little apprehensive there at the very beginning.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And then joyful, all in one statement.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Because you weren't sure what was in the box, what was going to be.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And then everybody loves the look of a little puppy looking up at him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Hey, man.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Oh, don't shut me down when I'm preaching.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Good.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Praise the Lord.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Hallelujah.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

All right, so that's the sort of thing I'm talking about.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Okay.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

You could relate to each section of that statement I just made.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

I created a sort of a visual journey that we both experience right there at the same time.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

That's what you need to accomplish in your storytelling.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Helping your audience visualize each part of the story by including those sensory details that help to create a vivid picture that will burn that picture into their mind.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

This turns your story from mere words into an experience, making it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Making your stories much more impactful and memorable.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Then, as you conclude your presentation, they're riding that emotional high with you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

And that's how you can turn your stories into catalysts for.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

For them to take action, which we're going to get into next time.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau

Praise God.
