Welcome back to another episode of health hack as I continue sharing with you the importance of sleep. And today I want to talk about your immune system. Because the more sleep you get, the stronger your immune system is, and you're literally weakening your immune system by getting less sleep. And that's because 70% of your immune system is housed in your gut. And when you get less sleep, you are actually negatively impacting that very precise balance of microbes in your gut. And if you want to know more about that, you can go to my most recent podcast episode, episode number 163 of the don't wait for your wake up call podcast to learn more. With more sleep, you will also get faster injury recovery and improved wound healing, as well as reduced inflammation throughout your body, which means you have less aches and pains in your muscles and your joints. And many people consider that to be the passage of aging and ignore those aches and pains and simply think it's because they're getting older. And it isn't, it's your body's way of talking to you and letting you know that something is off. And one thing that can help reduce the inflammation aside from lowering the toxic load in your body is to get more and better quality sleep and good quality and the right amount of sleep also results in lower risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity. So hopefully that leaves you with some motivation to literally start planning your sleep around your day instead of falling into bed exhausted at the end of working on your long to do list.
