Blakely Ramsey

Hello and welcome back to the Elevated Edit podcast.

Blakely Ramsey

I hope all of of you are having an amazing new year.

Blakely Ramsey

I know I certainly am.

Blakely Ramsey

I am definitely not back in the groove yet.

Blakely Ramsey

I am still pretty sleepy.

Blakely Ramsey

So we have been spending a lot of time at the house.

Blakely Ramsey

We are decluttering, we are doing a lot of reading and napping and of course, a lot of long walks.

Blakely Ramsey

Because that's something that I really enjoyed in 2024.

Blakely Ramsey

And one of the things that I want to bring into 2024 and my long walk on New Year's, I made it an extra long walk because I went into it with an intention.

Blakely Ramsey

Always love to either listen to a podcast or an audiobook, or sometimes I'll have a problem that I want to think over or a prompt that I want to think about.

Blakely Ramsey

And I went into my New Year's walk with an intentional prompt to look back on my 2024 and, you know, just kind of dissect some of the lessons that I learned and look at things that I wanted to bring into 2025, things that I wanted to leave in 2024, things that worked, things that didn't work.

Blakely Ramsey

And one of the recurring themes that came up for me was that I had lost a lot of things in 2024, especially at the beginning of the year.

Blakely Ramsey

It felt like I was taking one hit after another after another after another after another.

Blakely Ramsey

I was losing relationships and clients and opportunities that I had worked really hard for were being ripped away from me, quite literally.

Blakely Ramsey

And a lot of the time they were being given to people who weren't working as hard or weren't as consistent, and none of it seemed to make sense.

Blakely Ramsey

I was like, I don't understand why I'm working so hard and things are still being taken away from me.

Blakely Ramsey

It just, logically, it didn't make sense to me.

Blakely Ramsey

But in the second half of 2024, as I slowed down and just tried to listen to what was happening and why everything was happening, I began to see that all the things that I thought were taken away from me were actually either not mine to begin with, or I was being protected from an issue or A problem or, quite frankly, a catastrophe, as some of the situations that I thought that I wanted turned out to me, or I was being redirected in a different direction.

Blakely Ramsey

And my time and my energy and my mindset, and quite frankly, my calendar needed to be opened for those new opportunities, those new relationships, those new clients to come in.

Blakely Ramsey

And it was definitely not an easy lesson for me to learn.

Blakely Ramsey

If y'all don't know by now, I'm pretty stubborn.

Blakely Ramsey

So it takes me a while to.

Blakely Ramsey

To really get the lesson.

Blakely Ramsey

That's why I think sometimes I have to be, like, given the lesson over and over and over and over and over again for me to go, okay, wait, this isn't working.

Blakely Ramsey

Like, maybe I should.

Blakely Ramsey

Maybe I should have a redirection.

Blakely Ramsey

So I probably made 2024, honestly harder than it needed to be because of that reason.

Blakely Ramsey

But it was such a powerful thing for me to be able to look back and go, oh, wow, okay, so I missed out on this opportunity so that I could be available for this one.

Blakely Ramsey

Or I lost out on that client because they ended up being an absolute nightmare.

Blakely Ramsey

And I didn't need to be stressed out during that time period or whatever it was.

Blakely Ramsey

With almost everything that I lost last year, eventually I saw why.

Blakely Ramsey

And as the second half of the year progressed, I no longer needed to see why.

Blakely Ramsey

I was like, oh, that was taken away from me, and I don't need to know why.

Blakely Ramsey

Like, I know that I'm either being protected or I'm being redirected.

Blakely Ramsey

And you almost have to have a little bit of blind faith.

Blakely Ramsey

But I have started practicing, like, now, today, where I'm sitting.

Blakely Ramsey

If someone called me and there was an opportunity that I thought I had in the bag, and they call me and they say, hey, you know, we're no longer interested, or whatever the case is, I will literally, like, throw my hands up and be like, thank you, God, for protecting me from whatever was coming.

Blakely Ramsey

Because I know it was either going to be an absolute nightmare and a disaster, or I just, quite frankly, needed that space open on my calendar.

Blakely Ramsey

You know, I, of course, had a huge rebrand in 2024.

Blakely Ramsey

And with a rebrand, this was definitely something that I had to learn the hard way.

Blakely Ramsey

With a rebrand, you are no longer the person that you were before.

Blakely Ramsey

And when you're in that ugly middle where you're no longer the next person that you want to be, people just think that you're being lazy.

Blakely Ramsey

People think that you're dropping the ball, and people start to talk about you and gossip about you.

Blakely Ramsey

And when you set boundaries with people, specifically with clients, they.

Blakely Ramsey

You learn very quickly that they never saw your value in the first place.

Blakely Ramsey

They were only using you because you were always available or you were always willing to give the very best parts of yourself to them at all times.

Blakely Ramsey

And when you're no longer willing to do that, people, you find people's loyalty very quickly.

Blakely Ramsey

And there were so many situations in 2024 where that happened.

Blakely Ramsey

But I feel like I'm finally coming out of the other side of all of that, and I'm seeing why I had to have all this redirection and why I had to, quote, unquote, lose so much, because I had to be, A, become a different person.

Blakely Ramsey

But, B, I needed to have space in my life, have mental space, have space in my calendar to be open for all of these new opportunities that were available to me.

Blakely Ramsey

And so, like I said, now sitting where I'm at and having the lessons that I've learned in 2024, I am now thankful when opportunities aren't coming my way or when they're taken away from me or when a client wants to use someone else.

Blakely Ramsey

Like, I can immediately go, okay, God, I don't know why you're doing this, but thanks, because I don't need to know.

Blakely Ramsey

I know that it's happening for a reason.

Blakely Ramsey

I know it's happening for me.

Blakely Ramsey

I know it is a redirection and not a rejection.

Blakely Ramsey

And it is such a freeing way to live because I used to get so in my head and I would constantly overthink, well, why didn't this person want to use me?

Blakely Ramsey

Or why didn't this opportunity, like, why didn't they think I was qualified for that or whatever it was?

Blakely Ramsey

And now I'm just like, okay, thanks.

Blakely Ramsey

Because I know that there is a pivot and there is a lesson and there is an opportunity that is coming from that rejection.

Blakely Ramsey

And it's just such a beautiful way to live.

Blakely Ramsey

And look, I don't want to sit here and act like loss doesn't still feel hard because it still stings.

Blakely Ramsey

It stings when you're not invited to things.

Blakely Ramsey

It stings when a client wants to use someone else.

Blakely Ramsey

It stings when you're no longer asked to be part of an opportunity that you once were, you know, a top contender for it.

Blakely Ramsey

It all hurts.

Blakely Ramsey

But I think for me, the hurt now goes away a lot faster.

Blakely Ramsey

Like, I used to mull on it for days.

Blakely Ramsey

I would be so upset and I would overthink and all the things.

Blakely Ramsey

And now I Can just let myself feel the sting and feel the hurt and be like, oh, okay, that one hurt a little bit.

Blakely Ramsey

Okay.

Blakely Ramsey

And then move on from it.

Blakely Ramsey

And that was really, like, my biggest breakthrough that I'm taking away from 2024 was what was never meant for me is never gonna be mine.

Blakely Ramsey

And, like, it feels so freeing, and it.

Blakely Ramsey

It's obviously so common sense, but it was something that I could never wrap my head around.

Blakely Ramsey

And I also truly think that if we are being guided in a certain direction and if there is something that we are meant to be doing and we are not pursuing it, or we are not listening to the inner voice, God, you know, whatever you want that to be.

Blakely Ramsey

For me, it's God.

Blakely Ramsey

And he talks to me very loudly.

Blakely Ramsey

He's like, hello, are you listening?

Blakely Ramsey

If I am ignoring my mission and my purpose and what I'm supposed to be doing, the hardships and the losses just keep stacking up and they keep adding up very quickly.

Blakely Ramsey

And I feel like that is why my first half of 2024 was so rough and so aggressive, because I was really resisting the redirection that I needed to be moving towards because I was in my comfort zone.

Blakely Ramsey

And the more that I resisted it, the more loss came.

Blakely Ramsey

The more clients I lost, the more this, the more that.

Blakely Ramsey

But the minute that I started taking action towards the things I needed to be taking action towards that were truly meant for me and truly part of my passion, everything shifted.

Blakely Ramsey

I started getting really aligned clients.

Blakely Ramsey

I started getting super aligned opportunities.

Blakely Ramsey

And it was just like the world opened up and everything.

Blakely Ramsey

Like, there was just, like a clear path moving forward.

Blakely Ramsey

And I'm like, oh, it was me.

Blakely Ramsey

This whole time, I was self sabotaging by staying in my comfort zone.

Blakely Ramsey

And instead of trusting the process, I was actively resisting it.

Blakely Ramsey

And so that is, like, my one little tip for you throughout 2025, is that when you're in the thick of it, trust can feel really impossible.

Blakely Ramsey

But when you get a chance to look back at the lessons and the reasons why things had to happen, there is almost always like a, oh, okay, that's why this needed to happen, or, okay, this is why I lost that friendship or that relationship or that opportunity or that job or that client or whatever it was.

Blakely Ramsey

And so moving forward, I want you to ask yourself, what could this loss be making space for?

Blakely Ramsey

And what part of your life might need a pivot?

Blakely Ramsey

For me, it was literally every single part of my life I needed to pivot.

Blakely Ramsey

From my health, to my relationship with money, to my friendships, to my job.

Blakely Ramsey

To my opportunities, to my my home.

Blakely Ramsey

Everything needed a complete reset and a complete pivot.

Blakely Ramsey

And once I stopped resisting it and started leaning into it, things really fell into place for me and it was just so much more aligned and so clear.

Blakely Ramsey

Um, so moving forward with curiosity, when you feel the sting, I want you to pause and reflect and say, what could this situation be teaching me?

Blakely Ramsey

And I want you to practice letting go of what isn't working for you and stay open to what's next.

Blakely Ramsey

And then I want you to shift the narrative because loss is not a failure, it is a redirection.

Blakely Ramsey

And I don't want to come off like this is super easy.

Blakely Ramsey

This is a ton of work to shift your mindset and think of loss as a redirection instead of a rejection.

Blakely Ramsey

Like I said, it took me, gosh, I say the first half of the year, but it was probably October before I really started to allow this lesson to resonate.

Blakely Ramsey

So give yourself a little time.

Blakely Ramsey

Don't be so hard on yourself.

Blakely Ramsey

That's probably where I messed up a lot last year as well, is in a lot of these lessons.

Blakely Ramsey

I once I learned the lesson, I felt a lot of guilt and shame about how I was quote unquote doing it wrong.

Blakely Ramsey

But then I started to realize like, I was just doing the best that I could with like the knowledge that I had.

Blakely Ramsey

I just didn't know any better.

Blakely Ramsey

And so if you are experiencing that, give yourself that grace and that space to acknowledge that you're growing and you just didn't know any better before.

Blakely Ramsey

And yeah, that's all I've got for this short and sweet episode.

Blakely Ramsey

Today I was just walking and that thought came to me and I was like, oh my gosh, I've got to share that on the podcast.

Blakely Ramsey

I hope you got at least a little bit out of this episode.
