Blakely RamseyHello and welcome back to the Elevated Edit podcast.
Blakely RamseyI hope all of of you are having an amazing new year.
Blakely RamseyI know I certainly am.
Blakely RamseyI am definitely not back in the groove yet.
Blakely RamseyI am still pretty sleepy.
Blakely RamseySo we have been spending a lot of time at the house.
Blakely RamseyWe are decluttering, we are doing a lot of reading and napping and of course, a lot of long walks.
Blakely RamseyBecause that's something that I really enjoyed in 2024.
Blakely RamseyAnd one of the things that I want to bring into 2024 and my long walk on New Year's, I made it an extra long walk because I went into it with an intention.
Blakely RamseyAlways love to either listen to a podcast or an audiobook, or sometimes I'll have a problem that I want to think over or a prompt that I want to think about.
Blakely RamseyAnd I went into my New Year's walk with an intentional prompt to look back on my 2024 and, you know, just kind of dissect some of the lessons that I learned and look at things that I wanted to bring into 2025, things that I wanted to leave in 2024, things that worked, things that didn't work.
Blakely RamseyAnd one of the recurring themes that came up for me was that I had lost a lot of things in 2024, especially at the beginning of the year.
Blakely RamseyIt felt like I was taking one hit after another after another after another after another.
Blakely RamseyI was losing relationships and clients and opportunities that I had worked really hard for were being ripped away from me, quite literally.
Blakely RamseyAnd a lot of the time they were being given to people who weren't working as hard or weren't as consistent, and none of it seemed to make sense.
Blakely RamseyI was like, I don't understand why I'm working so hard and things are still being taken away from me.
Blakely RamseyIt just, logically, it didn't make sense to me.
Blakely RamseyBut in the second half of 2024, as I slowed down and just tried to listen to what was happening and why everything was happening, I began to see that all the things that I thought were taken away from me were actually either not mine to begin with, or I was being protected from an issue or A problem or, quite frankly, a catastrophe, as some of the situations that I thought that I wanted turned out to me, or I was being redirected in a different direction.
Blakely RamseyAnd my time and my energy and my mindset, and quite frankly, my calendar needed to be opened for those new opportunities, those new relationships, those new clients to come in.
Blakely RamseyAnd it was definitely not an easy lesson for me to learn.
Blakely RamseyIf y'all don't know by now, I'm pretty stubborn.
Blakely RamseySo it takes me a while to.
Blakely RamseyTo really get the lesson.
Blakely RamseyThat's why I think sometimes I have to be, like, given the lesson over and over and over and over and over again for me to go, okay, wait, this isn't working.
Blakely RamseyLike, maybe I should.
Blakely RamseyMaybe I should have a redirection.
Blakely RamseySo I probably made 2024, honestly harder than it needed to be because of that reason.
Blakely RamseyBut it was such a powerful thing for me to be able to look back and go, oh, wow, okay, so I missed out on this opportunity so that I could be available for this one.
Blakely RamseyOr I lost out on that client because they ended up being an absolute nightmare.
Blakely RamseyAnd I didn't need to be stressed out during that time period or whatever it was.
Blakely RamseyWith almost everything that I lost last year, eventually I saw why.
Blakely RamseyAnd as the second half of the year progressed, I no longer needed to see why.
Blakely RamseyI was like, oh, that was taken away from me, and I don't need to know why.
Blakely RamseyLike, I know that I'm either being protected or I'm being redirected.
Blakely RamseyAnd you almost have to have a little bit of blind faith.
Blakely RamseyBut I have started practicing, like, now, today, where I'm sitting.
Blakely RamseyIf someone called me and there was an opportunity that I thought I had in the bag, and they call me and they say, hey, you know, we're no longer interested, or whatever the case is, I will literally, like, throw my hands up and be like, thank you, God, for protecting me from whatever was coming.
Blakely RamseyBecause I know it was either going to be an absolute nightmare and a disaster, or I just, quite frankly, needed that space open on my calendar.
Blakely RamseyYou know, I, of course, had a huge rebrand in 2024.
Blakely RamseyAnd with a rebrand, this was definitely something that I had to learn the hard way.
Blakely RamseyWith a rebrand, you are no longer the person that you were before.
Blakely RamseyAnd when you're in that ugly middle where you're no longer the next person that you want to be, people just think that you're being lazy.
Blakely RamseyPeople think that you're dropping the ball, and people start to talk about you and gossip about you.
Blakely RamseyAnd when you set boundaries with people, specifically with clients, they.
Blakely RamseyYou learn very quickly that they never saw your value in the first place.
Blakely RamseyThey were only using you because you were always available or you were always willing to give the very best parts of yourself to them at all times.
Blakely RamseyAnd when you're no longer willing to do that, people, you find people's loyalty very quickly.
Blakely RamseyAnd there were so many situations in 2024 where that happened.
Blakely RamseyBut I feel like I'm finally coming out of the other side of all of that, and I'm seeing why I had to have all this redirection and why I had to, quote, unquote, lose so much, because I had to be, A, become a different person.
Blakely RamseyBut, B, I needed to have space in my life, have mental space, have space in my calendar to be open for all of these new opportunities that were available to me.
Blakely RamseyAnd so, like I said, now sitting where I'm at and having the lessons that I've learned in 2024, I am now thankful when opportunities aren't coming my way or when they're taken away from me or when a client wants to use someone else.
Blakely RamseyLike, I can immediately go, okay, God, I don't know why you're doing this, but thanks, because I don't need to know.
Blakely RamseyI know that it's happening for a reason.
Blakely RamseyI know it's happening for me.
Blakely RamseyI know it is a redirection and not a rejection.
Blakely RamseyAnd it is such a freeing way to live because I used to get so in my head and I would constantly overthink, well, why didn't this person want to use me?
Blakely RamseyOr why didn't this opportunity, like, why didn't they think I was qualified for that or whatever it was?
Blakely RamseyAnd now I'm just like, okay, thanks.
Blakely RamseyBecause I know that there is a pivot and there is a lesson and there is an opportunity that is coming from that rejection.
Blakely RamseyAnd it's just such a beautiful way to live.
Blakely RamseyAnd look, I don't want to sit here and act like loss doesn't still feel hard because it still stings.
Blakely RamseyIt stings when you're not invited to things.
Blakely RamseyIt stings when a client wants to use someone else.
Blakely RamseyIt stings when you're no longer asked to be part of an opportunity that you once were, you know, a top contender for it.
Blakely RamseyIt all hurts.
Blakely RamseyBut I think for me, the hurt now goes away a lot faster.
Blakely RamseyLike, I used to mull on it for days.
Blakely RamseyI would be so upset and I would overthink and all the things.
Blakely RamseyAnd now I Can just let myself feel the sting and feel the hurt and be like, oh, okay, that one hurt a little bit.
Blakely RamseyOkay.
Blakely RamseyAnd then move on from it.
Blakely RamseyAnd that was really, like, my biggest breakthrough that I'm taking away from 2024 was what was never meant for me is never gonna be mine.
Blakely RamseyAnd, like, it feels so freeing, and it.
Blakely RamseyIt's obviously so common sense, but it was something that I could never wrap my head around.
Blakely RamseyAnd I also truly think that if we are being guided in a certain direction and if there is something that we are meant to be doing and we are not pursuing it, or we are not listening to the inner voice, God, you know, whatever you want that to be.
Blakely RamseyFor me, it's God.
Blakely RamseyAnd he talks to me very loudly.
Blakely RamseyHe's like, hello, are you listening?
Blakely RamseyIf I am ignoring my mission and my purpose and what I'm supposed to be doing, the hardships and the losses just keep stacking up and they keep adding up very quickly.
Blakely RamseyAnd I feel like that is why my first half of 2024 was so rough and so aggressive, because I was really resisting the redirection that I needed to be moving towards because I was in my comfort zone.
Blakely RamseyAnd the more that I resisted it, the more loss came.
Blakely RamseyThe more clients I lost, the more this, the more that.
Blakely RamseyBut the minute that I started taking action towards the things I needed to be taking action towards that were truly meant for me and truly part of my passion, everything shifted.
Blakely RamseyI started getting really aligned clients.
Blakely RamseyI started getting super aligned opportunities.
Blakely RamseyAnd it was just like the world opened up and everything.
Blakely RamseyLike, there was just, like a clear path moving forward.
Blakely RamseyAnd I'm like, oh, it was me.
Blakely RamseyThis whole time, I was self sabotaging by staying in my comfort zone.
Blakely RamseyAnd instead of trusting the process, I was actively resisting it.
Blakely RamseyAnd so that is, like, my one little tip for you throughout 2025, is that when you're in the thick of it, trust can feel really impossible.
Blakely RamseyBut when you get a chance to look back at the lessons and the reasons why things had to happen, there is almost always like a, oh, okay, that's why this needed to happen, or, okay, this is why I lost that friendship or that relationship or that opportunity or that job or that client or whatever it was.
Blakely RamseyAnd so moving forward, I want you to ask yourself, what could this loss be making space for?
Blakely RamseyAnd what part of your life might need a pivot?
Blakely RamseyFor me, it was literally every single part of my life I needed to pivot.
Blakely RamseyFrom my health, to my relationship with money, to my friendships, to my job.
Blakely RamseyTo my opportunities, to my my home.
Blakely RamseyEverything needed a complete reset and a complete pivot.
Blakely RamseyAnd once I stopped resisting it and started leaning into it, things really fell into place for me and it was just so much more aligned and so clear.
Blakely RamseyUm, so moving forward with curiosity, when you feel the sting, I want you to pause and reflect and say, what could this situation be teaching me?
Blakely RamseyAnd I want you to practice letting go of what isn't working for you and stay open to what's next.
Blakely RamseyAnd then I want you to shift the narrative because loss is not a failure, it is a redirection.
Blakely RamseyAnd I don't want to come off like this is super easy.
Blakely RamseyThis is a ton of work to shift your mindset and think of loss as a redirection instead of a rejection.
Blakely RamseyLike I said, it took me, gosh, I say the first half of the year, but it was probably October before I really started to allow this lesson to resonate.
Blakely RamseySo give yourself a little time.
Blakely RamseyDon't be so hard on yourself.
Blakely RamseyThat's probably where I messed up a lot last year as well, is in a lot of these lessons.
Blakely RamseyI once I learned the lesson, I felt a lot of guilt and shame about how I was quote unquote doing it wrong.
Blakely RamseyBut then I started to realize like, I was just doing the best that I could with like the knowledge that I had.
Blakely RamseyI just didn't know any better.
Blakely RamseyAnd so if you are experiencing that, give yourself that grace and that space to acknowledge that you're growing and you just didn't know any better before.
Blakely RamseyAnd yeah, that's all I've got for this short and sweet episode.
Blakely RamseyToday I was just walking and that thought came to me and I was like, oh my gosh, I've got to share that on the podcast.
Blakely RamseyI hope you got at least a little bit out of this episode.
