Speaker:

Hey, is managing your money just feeling heavy?

Speaker:

Like you know you need to get a handle on it, but you're honestly

Speaker:

not even sure where to begin?

Speaker:

Stick around because we're gonna talk about the very first, most powerful

Speaker:

step that you can take on today's show.

Speaker:

Hey there, and welcome.

Speaker:

I'm Ralph and I'm so glad you're tuning in today.

Speaker:

This is where we figure out finances together, aiming for freedom and growing

Speaker:

our faith along the way, helping you break that cycle of financial shame.

Speaker:

And do it with confidence.

Speaker:

Today we're kicking off a brand new series that I call the Joy

Speaker:

of Living Below your means.

Speaker:

So let's talk honestly for just a minute.

Speaker:

Maybe you're feeling completely overwhelmed by your finances right now.

Speaker:

Does that sound familiar?

Speaker:

It's like this cloud hanging over you.

Speaker:

You know, you should do something, budget, save more, maybe pay off some debt.

Speaker:

But the sheer number of things that people say you should do, it just paralyzes you.

Speaker:

You end up doing nothing, or maybe you avoid looking at your bank account

Speaker:

because it's just too stressful.

Speaker:

You just feel stuck, maybe even a little hopeless.

Speaker:

You're wondering, where on earth do I even start?

Speaker:

Well, that feeling of being financially adrift, unsure that first step,

Speaker:

that's the single pain point that we're tackling today on the show.

Speaker:

It's that sense of being lost and not having a map.

Speaker:

Here's the thing.

Speaker:

We often feel this way because we try to muscle through

Speaker:

money problems all on our own.

Speaker:

We treat it like this separate compartment of our life, disconnected from our

Speaker:

faith, and we forget that God actually cares deeply about how we handle

Speaker:

the resources he's already given us.

Speaker:

And more importantly, he wants to help see, trying to navigate this alone

Speaker:

without seeking his guidance first.

Speaker:

That's why it feels so overwhelming.

Speaker:

We're carrying the weight ourselves.

Speaker:

So what can we do about that specific feeling?

Speaker:

That feeling of being lost and overwhelmed?

Speaker:

That's the real starting point today.

Speaker:

So before the spreadsheets, before the apps, the single most powerful solution

Speaker:

is this, and that's to intentionally invite God into your financial

Speaker:

picture through specific prayer.

Speaker:

Seriously, it sounds almost too simple, right?

Speaker:

But think about it.

Speaker:

The book of James chapter one, verse five promises that if we

Speaker:

lack wisdom, we should ask God.

Speaker:

And what does it say next?

Speaker:

It says, he'll give it generously, and goodness knows,

Speaker:

we need some wisdom with money.

Speaker:

Praying specifically about your finances means talking to God honestly

Speaker:

about things like your stress.

Speaker:

Maybe say something like, God, I'm really worried about paying this bill.

Speaker:

Maybe you talk to him about your confusion saying something like, Lord, I don't

Speaker:

know the best way to handle this debt.

Speaker:

You can ask him about your need for wisdom.

Speaker:

Say something like, father, please show me where I'm being foolish

Speaker:

or undisciplined with money.

Speaker:

Or maybe it's your desire for change.

Speaker:

Say something like, God, help me find contentment and become a better steward.

Speaker:

And see, this isn't about asking for a windfall.

Speaker:

It's not what we're asking for at all.

Speaker:

It's about partnership.

Speaker:

It is saying, God, I can't do this alone.

Speaker:

I need your help.

Speaker:

Please guide me.

Speaker:

And this act of surrender.

Speaker:

And that seeking his wisdom, that is truly the antidote to that feeling

Speaker:

of being lost and overwhelmed.

Speaker:

So that's the solution.

Speaker:

Start with prayer.

Speaker:

Okay, so here's your one simple action step to today, starting today.

Speaker:

Don't try to boil the ocean.

Speaker:

Just do this one thing sometime today.

Speaker:

I want you to find five or 10 minutes maybe right now if you

Speaker:

can, or schedule it and talk to God specifically about your finances.

Speaker:

That's it.

Speaker:

Just just open up the conversation, tell him your worries, ask for his wisdom.

Speaker:

Ask him to show you the next right step, and I want you to commit to

Speaker:

doing that each day, starting today.

Speaker:

You might ask Ralph, why this action?

Speaker:

Because it directly tackles that feeling of being overwhelmed and

Speaker:

lost instead of staring at this mountain, feeling paralyzed, you're

Speaker:

turning to the mountain mover first.

Speaker:

It brings peace and it brings perspective, reminding you that

Speaker:

you are not alone today or any day.

Speaker:

It's the foundational step that makes all other practical steps possible.

Speaker:

Let's just take a moment right now and pray together.

Speaker:

Father God, thank you for being here with us right now.

Speaker:

Lord, I lift up my friend listening.

Speaker:

They're feeling overwhelmed, maybe stressed, or just plain

Speaker:

stuck with their finances today.

Speaker:

They don't know where to start.

Speaker:

Father, would you meet them right there where they are?

Speaker:

Father, replace that overwhelm with your peace.

Speaker:

Give them the courage and the discipline starting today to simply begin by talking

Speaker:

to you about it each and every day.

Speaker:

Lord, grant them your wisdom.

Speaker:

Show them you are their provider and their guide, and help them

Speaker:

take this one simple step.

Speaker:

Today.

Speaker:

We ask this in Jesus' name.

Speaker:

Amen.

Speaker:

Well, all right, that's your mission starting today.

Speaker:

Just one thing, daily specific prayer about your finances.

Speaker:

I wanna encourage you, take that step, see how it starts to shift your perspective.

Speaker:

And I want you to remember this journey to financial freedom and deeper faith

Speaker:

is taken one step at a time, and you just found your starting point today.

Speaker:

Tomorrow we're gonna tackle a really interesting question in a

Speaker:

world that always screams for more.

Speaker:

How do we figure out what enough actually looks like for us?

Speaker:

We're gonna explore action item number two, and that's

Speaker:

defining enough for yourself.

Speaker:

And if today's episode helped you, maybe you could share it with someone else

Speaker:

who might be feeling overwhelmed too.

Speaker:

I encourage you.
