Chelsey Donn:

Hello

Trey Gerrald:

Welcome to Review.

Trey Gerrald:

That Review the podcast dedicated to reviewing

Chelsey Donn:

Review.

Chelsey Donn:

We're just like Siskel & Ebert, only instead of reviewing cinematic masterpieces, we

Trey Gerrald:

that's Chelsey Donn,

Chelsey Donn:

And that's Trey Gerrald.

Trey Gerrald:

And together we are.

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens!

Trey Gerrald:

If you like what you're hearing and you want to support our show while getting

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey goose, girl, I got cooked yesterday.

Trey Gerrald:

think I need to go ahead and jump right on in,.

Chelsey Donn:

Please jump in.

Chelsey Donn:

But first, can I just mention that Trey's wearing a shirt with pretzels on it and it's making me

Chelsey Donn:

So trail looks beautiful in a turquoise shirt with pretzels on them before he

Chelsey Donn:

Here

Trey Gerrald:

I love a damn pretzel.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

I have to:

VOICEOVER:

lodge A Complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

Against car dealerships.

Trey Gerrald:

If any listeners out there, if you work for a car dealership, if you went to car dealers one-oh-one

Trey Gerrald:

Uh, I'm lodging a complaint against you for a quick preface.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm going to not go into all the details cause it's not that interesting, but I

Trey Gerrald:

I've been, I joined a program that was started by a former car dealer who owned

Trey Gerrald:

And once they ended that career, they wanted to create full transparency for buyers and

Trey Gerrald:

Whoever has control.

Trey Gerrald:

Win's the deal.

Trey Gerrald:

So I have been training for 30 days.

Trey Gerrald:

I have been like figuring out, they ask you very specifically worded questions

Trey Gerrald:

And the whole thing is about everything is built in with fluff and you have to

Trey Gerrald:

That's why prices never reflect what they were on the website.

Trey Gerrald:

So I have been training.

Trey Gerrald:

I went to do my first test run and came home crying.

Trey Gerrald:

And I went to two different dealerships and I just, you know, I even prepped talked, you know,

Trey Gerrald:

They will be more skilled than me.

Trey Gerrald:

And I will always end with a better deal than I started with be patient

Trey Gerrald:

It just sleazy, disgusting, horrible feeling.

Trey Gerrald:

And on top of it all, this is really my complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

Something that's not discussed or advertised is dealerships, every

Trey Gerrald:

Of upwards of five, $6,000 to the made up MSRP.

Trey Gerrald:

MSRP.

Trey Gerrald:

If you didn't know, it was a made up number dealerships pay an invoice

Trey Gerrald:

So the MSRP is a made up number.

Trey Gerrald:

It doesn't, it's not real, it's meant to be negotiated, but they're

Trey Gerrald:

Five $6,000.

Trey Gerrald:

So I was completely unprepared for that and it was very demoralizing, but I did negotiate

Trey Gerrald:

So.

Trey Gerrald:

I just am sharing with our Review!

Trey Gerrald:

Queens out there.

Trey Gerrald:

I haven't even tiptoed into car dealership reviews because it's too upsetting for me right now.

Trey Gerrald:

And I think I may not be able to lease a car right now in my life.

Trey Gerrald:

So I'm going to have to put it on hold and figure out how to commute around.

Trey Gerrald:

I might be using the bus.

Trey Gerrald:

This is a true story.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's where I'm at.

Trey Gerrald:

I.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

And I cried the last time, but I cried and, uh, I took a nap Right before this recording.

Trey Gerrald:

So hopefully, you know, I'm just in a very dark place.

Trey Gerrald:

So I'm sharing that coming in, but I have a very fun Review!

Trey Gerrald:

for today.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's where I'm at.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm lodging a complaint against the entire structure with which car dealerships are built.

Trey Gerrald:

It's the only industry that exists where the price isn't fair and it is.

Trey Gerrald:

It doesn't plane.

Trey Gerrald:

So you have to be in battle.

Trey Gerrald:

And that's a very frustrating, so that's my complaint, Chelsey, what you got to say?

Trey Gerrald:

I know you have many years of experience with leasing.

Chelsey Donn:

That's terrible.

Chelsey Donn:

I know they do try to take advantage.

Chelsey Donn:

It's upsetting, especially as a woman, I imagine as a gay man, like, it just feels like you're

Chelsey Donn:

I had a terrible experience with my last lease too.

Chelsey Donn:

And I'm sorry, I just feel so bad that you left in tears.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I really, I feel protective over you, so I want to like go over there and

Chelsey Donn:

And after that, and I'm sorry.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm already not like, and I'm not looking at like a Lexus

Trey Gerrald:

I'm literally looking at a very

Chelsey Donn:

I know you're like, I don't want to say the name, but like

Trey Gerrald:

unremarkable brand.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

That's A'..

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, I'm so sorry.

Trey Gerrald:

The thing is, is we are just in the culture that we are of the pandemic.

Trey Gerrald:

And so every brand is adding this market adjustment.

Trey Gerrald:

So it's just not the time supply and demand it's it is morally frustrating because

Trey Gerrald:

Consumers have suffered from the pandemic.

Trey Gerrald:

I recognize instead of getting 300 cars a month.

Trey Gerrald:

Three, so they need to make money, but it is sort of, it feels disgusting

Trey Gerrald:

And so I think I just can't do a car Right.

Trey Gerrald:

now.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm going to have to wait until a couple of years when the market readjusts.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh God.

Chelsey Donn:

So much.

Trey Gerrald:

let's let it go.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm happy to be here where it's going to be more fun.

Trey Gerrald:

So Chelsey, why you share, what do you want to complain about today?

Chelsey Donn:

My complaint, I feel like is a lot more basic.

Chelsey Donn:

And again, you know, whatever, we don't need to preface this by saying that I'm privileged.

Chelsey Donn:

I know that I am, you know, dishwashers.

Chelsey Donn:

Great.

Chelsey Donn:

Love him.

Chelsey Donn:

Why is there a dryer setting?

Chelsey Donn:

I don't get it.

Chelsey Donn:

Does it ever work?

Chelsey Donn:

Every single time I do a load in the dishwasher.

Chelsey Donn:

I put the heated dry option on so that everything will be dry when I take it out.

Chelsey Donn:

And yet every single time.

Chelsey Donn:

I opened up the dishwasher, especially.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, especially the top shelf.

Chelsey Donn:

Like the top shelf is like a disaster.

Chelsey Donn:

You gotta be like timing things out.

Chelsey Donn:

I gotta get the bottom shelf done.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause if I start with the top shelf, I'm just going to soak the whole bottom shelf.

Chelsey Donn:

And then this is a nightmare.

Chelsey Donn:

I have to get a towel.

Chelsey Donn:

It's really taking a long time.

Chelsey Donn:

It feels all of a sudden, like slower than if I would have just washed the

Chelsey Donn:

Like what's going on.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I've definitely noticed that when you have like, on the top of cups,

Trey Gerrald:

It's like, how did you not go away?

Trey Gerrald:

I don't understand.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't get

Trey Gerrald:

a very small square footage of space that you're pumping heat.

Trey Gerrald:

And how has it not trying?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm like, maybe I'm over stuffing it.

Chelsey Donn:

That's the only thing I can think of.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you do that?

Chelsey Donn:

I do overstuff her, but like, I feel like I overstuff within reason.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, I'm not like half hazard about the way that I load my dishwasher.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm always putting things in a way that I know that they're going to get

Chelsey Donn:

It is crazy though.

Trey Gerrald:

Why don't you do a Review Queen test and do 10% less than usual and

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

I'll do a smaller load and see if it makes a difference.

Chelsey Donn:

So I can let you guys

Trey Gerrald:

I'm serious.

Trey Gerrald:

I want to know if

Chelsey Donn:

all right.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to do it.

Chelsey Donn:

I will commit.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to load, I mean, a low dishes all the time.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to load half a load and let you know.

Trey Gerrald:

Load love it.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I feel, I feel,

Trey Gerrald:

um, I feel expressed.

Trey Gerrald:

I dunno if I feel better.

Trey Gerrald:

but I feel like at least it's, um, shared, please.

Trey Gerrald:

If anyone works in the car business, please reach out.

Trey Gerrald:

If anyone works in the dishwasher machine business, please reach out.

Trey Gerrald:

In the meantime, Chelsey, should we jump into some online reviews?

Chelsey Donn:

Great idea.

Chelsey Donn:

We should definitely do that.

Chelsey Donn:

As you already know, we are your trustee Review!

Chelsey Donn:

Queens.

Chelsey Donn:

We each bring in a review from the internet that we feel needs to be inspected.

Trey Gerrald:

We breed you the Review!

Trey Gerrald:

break it down and rate the impact of the said Review!

Trey Gerrald:

on a scale from zero to five crowns.

Trey Gerrald:

It's a very Regal process that we call.

VOICEOVER:

Assess That Kvetch

Chelsey Donn:

Trey, you are first, today.

Chelsey Donn:

Take it away.

Chelsey Donn:

RQ T

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

I have a very special share today.

Trey Gerrald:

I have a new source today from a little website called AirbnbHell.com.

Chelsey Donn:

God.

Chelsey Donn:

I love it.

Trey Gerrald:

you ever heard of this?

Chelsey Donn:

I haven't.

Chelsey Donn:

But like, I always get done shy about booking Airbnb.

Chelsey Donn:

And so I feel like I'm going to be a good person to receive this.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I, since the inception of this podcast have always scoured Airbnb

Trey Gerrald:

Review!.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, wow.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I have a plethora that I have been sourcing from AirbnbHell.com.

Trey Gerrald:

So we will get into that as we continue to move forward with the show.

Trey Gerrald:

But I have a really fun one today.

Trey Gerrald:

Now, when you write on AirbnbHell you don't have to give your name.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So we're going to say that this was written by K.

Trey Gerrald:

So this is a review from AirbnbHell.com.

Trey Gerrald:

Title.

Trey Gerrald:

Dangerous road and smelled like a dungeon.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Now this was written August of 2020.

Trey Gerrald:

Here we go.

Trey Gerrald:

We fell for the fabulous location lie, the photos and description of this Airbnb disguised.

Trey Gerrald:

That house was on a dangerous road with no verge.

Trey Gerrald:

The photos didn't show the steep nail biting walk on the yellow lines, clinging to the

Trey Gerrald:

Much further from the parking lot than advertised.

Trey Gerrald:

It seemed impossible to get luggage to the door, let alone children.

Trey Gerrald:

The photos didn't show the dingy grimy, unloved interior with just a hard wooden chair to sit

Trey Gerrald:

Didn't show the fly paper in the kitchen complete with fly Corpses!

Trey Gerrald:

Photos can't convey the dank damp smell that hits you as you walk in.

Trey Gerrald:

The photos don't show the depressing feel of the place nor the barbecue grill like mattresses.

Trey Gerrald:

couldn't believe anyone would.

Trey Gerrald:

So shamelessly advertise this house as beautiful!

Trey Gerrald:

Because photos can't convey, smell or danger parentheses would have died trying to

Trey Gerrald:

Airbnb ruled in the lying hosts favor.

Trey Gerrald:

We lost our holiday and our money.

Trey Gerrald:

Never again.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So something fun here.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So if you're on our Patreon, you will get to see this, um, gorgeous listing.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's go through

Chelsey Donn:

you fast.

Chelsey Donn:

So you found the actual.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

They shared the listing with us.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

This is why I'm afraid of Airbnb.

Chelsey Donn:

You guys.

Trey Gerrald:

This is actually an Aberdonian, which is in Wales, United Kingdom.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

This is $89 a night.

Trey Gerrald:

It is a three bedroom, four beds, one bath.

Trey Gerrald:

And let's just look through some of the photos.

Trey Gerrald:

So the main photo you want to describe Chelsey?

Chelsey Donn:

The main photo is of a beach and like a mountain side, maybe.

Trey Gerrald:

yeah, I think that's where the house actually is up there.

Trey Gerrald:

You'll see.

Trey Gerrald:

So there are

Trey Gerrald:

26 photos.

Chelsey Donn:

the house is in the mountain side.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

It actually is like on a beautiful cliff.

Trey Gerrald:

Like this is all very beautiful.

Chelsey Donn:

That looks a little dingy.

Trey Gerrald:

it does look dingy, right?

Trey Gerrald:

It does look like it would smell.

Chelsey Donn:

the photo of the living room looks like it's like very old carpeting

Chelsey Donn:

Like cigarettes were smoked in it.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I wouldn't what's hung on the walls.

Chelsey Donn:

Is that just like unframed printed pieces of paper yucky.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

It looks

Trey Gerrald:

It looks small

Chelsey Donn:

looks small and it looks old.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, Look at this radio.

Trey Gerrald:

And also there, we've seen two rooms with a fireplace, that has a wheeling

Trey Gerrald:

So that's already curious to me, and then this table is pushed against a cabinet, so

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, no,

Trey Gerrald:

who looked at those curtains?

Chelsey Donn:

those curtains look not good.

Trey Gerrald:

All of this is

Chelsey Donn:

bedding looks old,

Trey Gerrald:

I would already like, not want to do this.

Chelsey Donn:

you know, the batting does not look good.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, view's gorgeous

Chelsey Donn:

The view is amazing.

Chelsey Donn:

So it seems like what they've done is the, the first few photos are

Chelsey Donn:

And then the rest of the photos are of the actual, I don't even know if I would

Chelsey Donn:

Cause it looks quite small, but the, yeah, all the photos of the exterior, they have like a

Chelsey Donn:

We're pulling this from the actual listing, not the Review!

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Trey Gerrald:

Correct because the actual review was taken down and the only

Chelsey Donn:

Uh, this particular unit, oh my God gross.

Chelsey Donn:

So this website, just so that I'm clear this website, Airbnbhell.com.

Chelsey Donn:

Are they taking screenshots of these one-star reviews and placing

Chelsey Donn:

Is that why we have them?

Trey Gerrald:

Thank you for asking that.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause that's very important.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

A lot of times users will post Like the communication that was shared,

Chelsey Donn:

chat or whatever.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

but this is like the actual entry.

Trey Gerrald:

You see this?

Trey Gerrald:

Do you see the stairs?

Chelsey Donn:

There's definitely not a sidewalk.

Chelsey Donn:

I would say that the width is like so narrow.

Chelsey Donn:

Like there's a trash can outside and that's really all you have room for is

Trey Gerrald:

And it's not even a large trashcan, that's like a skinny trashcan.

Chelsey Donn:

it's weird.

Trey Gerrald:

It, I think there are some points here for K like you would be shocked, especially

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

There's

Trey Gerrald:

no way.

Trey Gerrald:

to navigate

Chelsey Donn:

When I think of Airbnb, I think of like renting a home where there would presumably

Chelsey Donn:

I was a little bit surprised when they said that they had to park somewhere and

Chelsey Donn:

Like that seemed odd to.

Trey Gerrald:

but I liked the Servia because they specifically link to.

Trey Gerrald:

the listing, which a lot of times people won't do.

Trey Gerrald:

So I appreciated the extra contact.

Chelsey Donn:

well, I'd never heard the expression.

Chelsey Donn:

No verge.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe that's like a British thing.

Trey Gerrald:

I had that question as well.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

What about the hard wooden chair being the only furniture?

Chelsey Donn:

Cause even in these terrible photos, there's more furniture than just a hard wooden chair.

Chelsey Donn:

I can't imagine there being a space with just a singular hardwood and Sharon.

Chelsey Donn:

It.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I'm curious about that because we're looking at this in 2022.

Trey Gerrald:

So I wonder if they updated the photos.

Trey Gerrald:

Like if you didn't really see a bunch of images from the inside, then I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I still feel like that's like on you.

Trey Gerrald:

Like you're the person choosing to book, but I do think that this review is reeking with value and.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe

Trey Gerrald:

even unique information back in 2020, if like you couldn't tell that it was on this cliff side.

Chelsey Donn:

And I think that's what we're dealing with here.

Chelsey Donn:

It really upsets me that Airbnb allows for these, you know, photos to be taken down.

Chelsey Donn:

Like there should be some sort of.

Chelsey Donn:

Reviews, but there should also be something it's like in order to get like fine.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, if you want this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

to be taken down, then you should have to like submit all kinds of updates

Chelsey Donn:

You know what I mean?

Chelsey Donn:

Like if it's like, we completely did a like full Renato of this property in late 20, 20.

Chelsey Donn:

Airbnb here's new images.

Chelsey Donn:

Can we take this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

down then?

Chelsey Donn:

I kind of think it's okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause it's, it's no longer a representative of what we're seeing,

Chelsey Donn:

So the pictures that you're seeing today, this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

seems pretty accurate.

Trey Gerrald:

yeah, I'm in agreement.

Trey Gerrald:

So what do you think about this, um, fly

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm so glad you brought it up.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause I had it started my notes gross.

Chelsey Donn:

That is completely unacceptable.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I think the fact that it's littered with fly corpses

Chelsey Donn:

Or even if it was like we had a fly infestation, we put it up.

Chelsey Donn:

Then it's like, take that shit down before the guests got there.

Trey Gerrald:

That's exactly my point.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

But I thought the phrase fly corpses was hysteria.

Chelsey Donn:

Sarah called?

Chelsey Donn:

I did think there was like some humor.

Chelsey Donn:

What do we think that a, a barbecue, like mattresses.

Trey Gerrald:

Barbecue grid like mattress.

Trey Gerrald:

So I guess those old timey, like Springs that are in like grid

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, barbecue grad.

Chelsey Donn:

So like uncomfortable

Trey Gerrald:

I imagine they have very old timey mattresses based on those pictures.

Chelsey Donn:

and would have died trying to take a photo of the front.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, that's my question.

Trey Gerrald:

How do you get furniture?

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe that's why there was only a wooden chair.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

glad that I know that this website exists now.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It is like a really nice resource because you can't rely on Airbnb for negative reviews

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

because the photos and the descriptions don't actually

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, the spelling is pretty great.

Trey Gerrald:

I think there was maybe one or two issues here.

Trey Gerrald:

do you think that this would be like a common experience booking this hotel or this cottage?

Chelsey Donn:

I do think so.

Trey Gerrald:

Especially if they weren't enough photos, like if there aren't enough

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like cat fishing, you

Chelsey Donn:

It is like catfish.

Trey Gerrald:

like a, you're going to get caught

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

I think I can crown K.

Trey Gerrald:

I think I can Two, you ready?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, let's do it.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm holding up four crowns trays holding up four and a half crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

It's funny.

Chelsey Donn:

I was actually personally struggling between three and a half and four.

Chelsey Donn:

I was almost wishing I could do 3.75 here, but I feel like in the end, my feeling is

Chelsey Donn:

Viewing the images of the property.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel like there is a little bit of onus to be placed on K, just because if

Chelsey Donn:

That being said, I think every single point they made is completely valid.

Chelsey Donn:

It seems totally gross and dangerous.

Chelsey Donn:

And I'm sorry that they had this experience.

Chelsey Donn:

So for that reason, I decided to go with four crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

Why Ford?

Trey Gerrald:

I hear that.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So I said four and a half.

Trey Gerrald:

Everything you just said.

Trey Gerrald:

I do think that if some of these images were not listed originally, then it is sort of hard

Trey Gerrald:

Because I appreciate that.

Trey Gerrald:

Kay took action after their negative review was removed and they went to a source and they

Trey Gerrald:

So I think that that's very queenly.

Trey Gerrald:

I didn't go with the whole five because it is, it is sort of like subjective.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe like if you don't care about certain, you know, I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

maybe the no verge, isn't an issue for you if you like hiking, you know?

Trey Gerrald:

So I said four and a half.

Trey Gerrald:

Yikes.

Trey Gerrald:

Everyone be careful out there when you're on Arabic.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh man.

Chelsey Donn:

If I was afraid before, I'm definitely afraid.

Chelsey Donn:

Now we, we, we have eight there's a pie from,

Trey Gerrald:

All right, so this, so this isn't totally a reply, but I did want to

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, wow.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

the new description.

Trey Gerrald:

Now.

Trey Gerrald:

One of the cheapest and aberdyfi essentially, this is an all caps essential to read entire listing.

Trey Gerrald:

Our historic cottage provides all caps, basic, not luxury accommodation.

Trey Gerrald:

It has a new kitchen, tub, shower, windows, et cetera.

Trey Gerrald:

It has not been modernized, but it has everything you need.

Trey Gerrald:

Everyone comments on its peaceful atmosphere and gorgeous views.

Trey Gerrald:

Individual radiators provide heating.

Trey Gerrald:

There is no internet, but usually good mobile signal.

Trey Gerrald:

Chimneys are blocked.

Trey Gerrald:

Please.

Trey Gerrald:

Don't use ornamental fireplaces parking at Penn car park, 170 meters away caps.

Trey Gerrald:

Please be aware.

Trey Gerrald:

The cottage is raised up above the village road with no foot.

Trey Gerrald:

There is a cut through by Penn park, just 50 meters away.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that's very interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that speaks a lot to what I was saying before, where it's like, if you're going to

Chelsey Donn:

like this.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I'm of two minds with this kind of stuff.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't want the, like the individual trying to make a living to be completely taken down.

Chelsey Donn:

I do wish that they would maybe do something for the person that had such a bad experience.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe Airbnb could do something.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know, but like, I think someone should do something to address these concerns or

Chelsey Donn:

I don't think that that should go unnoticed, but I do think if you're going to be completely

Chelsey Donn:

Then you're not misleading anybody.

Chelsey Donn:

You're saying this is a cheap rental, it's cheap for a reason it's not updated.

Chelsey Donn:

And this is what you're getting.

Trey Gerrald:

You know, we will never know if this was added after the fact, I would

Trey Gerrald:

But now I am sort of, of the mind they, they use the word cheapest

Trey Gerrald:

They say it hasn't been modernized.

Trey Gerrald:

So, you know, you can't, then you cannot be upset because you've chosen and they even say

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

And then it does make me think, like, what you're saying with the five-star reviews is that maybe

Chelsey Donn:

I could never afford to stay here, but because of this property, I could afford

Chelsey Donn:

So I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

Does that change your opinion at all?

Trey Gerrald:

Or what do you think?

Chelsey Donn:

Not really just makes me like happy that they updated their description.

Chelsey Donn:

And they're trying to make it clear that everybody should really pay

Chelsey Donn:

I

Trey Gerrald:

too.

Trey Gerrald:

I feel like they're at least trying to be transparent,

Chelsey Donn:

exactly, but I'm not going to hold that against

Trey Gerrald:

but it would keep, I mean, that has a bigger impact.

Trey Gerrald:

It would keep me from booking it.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause I was already like, I don't want to book this but that they're really like this isn't nice.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm like, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Next.

Chelsey Donn:

The end result is still, I'm not going to book this place, whether

Chelsey Donn:

So I'm okay with that.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh boy.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, I'm always excited for a new source.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

It's really fun.

Trey Gerrald:

Every listener should go at.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like a fun, little mindless read of like it's the review section on crack

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Good.

Chelsey Donn:

Review!.

Trey Gerrald:

Thank you.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, let's take a quick break.

Trey Gerrald:

And when we come back, we can get into Chelsey Goose's.

Just like queen Merrill, who does it?

Chelsey Donn:

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

My Charles, what is your zinger for today?

Chelsey Donn:

Chelsey Donn:

My zinger is from Google.

It is a one star review written by Z w no subject.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey Gerrald:

annoying.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey Gerrald:

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel like Indiana Jones.

Trey Gerrald:

Trey Gerrald:

I also ironically, have a review from.

Trey Gerrald:

Trey Gerrald:

This is for super cut, not to be confused with super cuts in flushing Queens, the nanny

Trey Gerrald:

One star review.

Trey Gerrald:

I almost lost my ear.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, no, that is horrifying.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

So in honor of the nanny, I was going to just like straight up, strap you in a Fran

Chelsey Donn:

So you know how Fran Drescher shows up at the guy's house to like sell makeup or whatever.

Chelsey Donn:

And she has like, those suitcase I'm strapping you into like one of those suitcases, full makeup

Trey Gerrald:

Avon calling.

Chelsey Donn:

calling.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

You're you're strapped into some Avon.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you ready?

Trey Gerrald:

I hope it's a pink Cadillac.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, it just might be, if you sell enough just

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm going to

Chelsey Donn:

So you're not just working for the, when you're working for the pink

Chelsey Donn:

All right, lets do it Tuesday.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

We are back from that game break, which I won.

Trey Gerrald:

And it is your turn Chelsey.

Trey Gerrald:

Where is your Review!

Trey Gerrald:

from this week?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

So this week my Review!

Chelsey Donn:

is from TripAdvisor.

Chelsey Donn:

So this is another restaurant in Review!, which I know Trey is extremely equipped for.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause he loves fine dining.

Chelsey Donn:

So.

Chelsey Donn:

This is for the French laundry in Napa D have you heard of this restaurant?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

So this is like a very, obviously famous, expensive, nice restaurant

Chelsey Donn:

So this review is written.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, Jesus.

Chelsey Donn:

I hate when there's a name.

Chelsey Donn:

I can't say I might need to spell it and I'm going to have to give the same

Chelsey Donn:

So it's J E N E S A I S Q U O I capital V O Jetta se, qua Genesee, qua V.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Chelsey Donn:

I really don't read French you guys.

Chelsey Donn:

So like, but that's funny.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause it doesn't Genesis.

Chelsey Donn:

Acqua me.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I don't know, or something like that.

Trey Gerrald:

I thought I, was going to say CWA

Chelsey Donn:

I, this Jen.

Trey Gerrald:

Genesee.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, Jenna said, woah.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Jenna

Trey Gerrald:

I dunno.

Trey Gerrald:

I took

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know guys.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't

Trey Gerrald:

And, um, what kind of dog is this?

Trey Gerrald:

You didn't say.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Sorry.

Chelsey Donn:

So this is a Jetta Siqua viz one dot review of the French laundry.

Chelsey Donn:

The subject is how can you have such amazing food and horrible service?

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, my God.

Chelsey Donn:

get ready.

Chelsey Donn:

Here we go.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, this restaurant is unbelievable, delicious, incredible dishes, not so much gastronomic

Chelsey Donn:

Let me recount.

Chelsey Donn:

First we were a table of seven women.

Chelsey Donn:

It was a girl's weekend in Napa.

Chelsey Donn:

The Semillon Gaye and the first server that came to our table were nice.

Chelsey Donn:

Then this older, bald man came over.

Chelsey Donn:

He told us that if we wanted to go across the street to the French laundry

Chelsey Donn:

We went over, which you should check out halfway during your meal.

Chelsey Donn:

It's pretty cool.

Chelsey Donn:

And took some great pics.

Chelsey Donn:

We came back to our table and asked the same man to come take some pics of us outside.

Chelsey Donn:

He came out and said, guess who's downstairs outside about to come in girls.

Chelsey Donn:

And my friend said who?

Chelsey Donn:

And he said, look, there's Will Ferrell.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

My friends started gushing and we're very excited.

Chelsey Donn:

They are big fans, but why is this server drawing attention to his clientele?

Chelsey Donn:

That's not professional in a three-star Michelin not to mention any restaurant.

Chelsey Donn:

Then he says to my friends, would you like me to go ask him if he will take

Chelsey Donn:

My friends start getting excited saying yes, yes, yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Then he says, huh, too bad.

Chelsey Donn:

I won't and walks away.

Chelsey Donn:

Who does that?

Chelsey Donn:

Are you kidding?

Chelsey Donn:

Later in the meal, he comes over to our table and says to my friend sitting next

Chelsey Donn:

I would ask your blonde friend pointing at me, but I can tell she's the

Chelsey Donn:

Then the third wonderful remark from Mr.

Chelsey Donn:

Sunshine came at the dessert course.

Chelsey Donn:

One of our friends is a vegetarian and they brought her out of creme de LA.

Chelsey Donn:

I jokingly said, wow, she got the special dessert.

Chelsey Donn:

And I did not even say it to him.

Chelsey Donn:

I didn't even know he was listening.

Chelsey Donn:

To which he replies she's special and you're not so deal with it.

Chelsey Donn:

How can you treat people who pay $800 plus per person like this?

Chelsey Donn:

No response from manager, either.

Chelsey Donn:

What a disgrace.

Chelsey Donn:

I even called Amex, F H R who I booked this restaurant through to

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, my God.

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, Jenna said, wow,

Trey Gerrald:

that really took a turn.

Trey Gerrald:

This.

Chelsey Donn:

it didn't, it didn't that

Trey Gerrald:

at first, I was like, why does every fancy restaurant Review!

Trey Gerrald:

about how good the chef is and help that the services like that is such a

Chelsey Donn:

kind of a youth thing, which has kind of a youth.

Trey Gerrald:

What do you mean.

Chelsey Donn:

Because there are people, especially people that want to go to French

Chelsey Donn:

And that's why they're here and that's what they want to read.

Chelsey Donn:

So just because you're not the kind of person that loves that, I just always like to point out

Trey Gerrald:

right.

Trey Gerrald:

It's my bias.

Trey Gerrald:

Right, right,

Chelsey Donn:

it's your bias.

Trey Gerrald:

I was like, what do you mean?

Trey Gerrald:

I don't like over defense.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

No, of course.

Trey Gerrald:

But I, first of all, I was taken by the.

Trey Gerrald:

Genesee Siqua painted a very strong visual of who this waiter was by calling them bald.

Trey Gerrald:

Like I instantly got a little like, huh?

Trey Gerrald:

Like I, well, I, well, I mean, I, I have been balding, but I sort of instantly

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

But then I sort of, by the end, when he said you're not special, she is deal with that.

Trey Gerrald:

I started to think about like when you're in kindergarten and like the

Trey Gerrald:

I'm like, is this person flirting

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

It was very odd behavior.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't really understand what the whole like.

Chelsey Donn:

Beef was between him and her.

Chelsey Donn:

And also like I found the whole Will Ferrell thing.

Chelsey Donn:

So icky and weird, like I completely was in agreement with Jenessa CWA when

Chelsey Donn:

This is a nice restaurant.

Chelsey Donn:

This isn't like, we're at some like McDonald's or Arby's and in walks will Farrell.

Chelsey Donn:

And everybody is like, oh my God, like, this is a nice restaurant where

Chelsey Donn:

Every single.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, that's just the kind of place that it is.

Chelsey Donn:

So for them to do that, I thought that was bizarre.

Chelsey Donn:

And then to do it only to tee up,

Trey Gerrald:

Ha too bad,

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, come

Trey Gerrald:

like, Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

wait, let's just sort of pull back for a second.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you think there's any world where there was a sarcastic humor, whether appropriate or

Trey Gerrald:

Or do you think this bald person is truly a horrifying.

Chelsey Donn:

No, I think that it was a circus sarcastic

Trey Gerrald:

I am thinking that as well, too,

Chelsey Donn:

was not working.

Chelsey Donn:

You

Trey Gerrald:

and completely displaced.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't think that a waiter at a fine dining restaurant should be sarcastic.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, it's also like we're not at Dick's last resort where

Trey Gerrald:

This is like, okay, here's a question.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause that's not my world.

Trey Gerrald:

So they said this is a three star Michelin.

Trey Gerrald:

How is that?

Trey Gerrald:

That doesn't sound good to me.

Trey Gerrald:

Is that how high is the rating for Michelin?

Trey Gerrald:

does it go to five?

Chelsey Donn:

You got a Michelin star for your restaurant.

Chelsey Donn:

And that means like your restaurants amazing.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, oh my God, your restaurant got a Michelin star.

Chelsey Donn:

So getting three Michelin stars would

Trey Gerrald:

it's a really big

Chelsey Donn:

yeah, it would mean that three on three different years on three

Chelsey Donn:

So like, that is like, that is a really big deal.

Chelsey Donn:

It kind of upsets me on behalf of Jenna Siqua that like, there was wrong things done here were these

Chelsey Donn:

And then they told us not to take any more photos until after this course, I

Chelsey Donn:

And like are getting whatever and constantly getting up to take

Chelsey Donn:

Like I thought that was weird, maybe that is recommended, but I thought it was a

Trey Gerrald:

I wrote that down.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I assumed, okay, when we're done the meal, then we'll go to the garden or

Chelsey Donn:

Like, I didn't think it was strange that.

Chelsey Donn:

We're kept interrupting the meal and then they got that note about that.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, I, I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

There was something about that that felt a little fishy,

Trey Gerrald:

Well, it did occur to me as well.

Trey Gerrald:

Like they were invited to attend to the garden across the street.

Trey Gerrald:

So that did make me think.

Trey Gerrald:

You know, go and view it, take your pictures.

Trey Gerrald:

And then there's no reason to ever return because you've completed the task.

Trey Gerrald:

So to be going back and forth, I think it's probably uncommon.

Trey Gerrald:

And so then for them to request that you don't is sort of like, okay, we'll read the room,

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It should be an outrageously decade at extraordinary experience and to be

Trey Gerrald:

So I really am with Jen.

Trey Gerrald:

I do believe Jen, I think.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, I'm saying like, I started to say like, I'm was mad that the manager

Chelsey Donn:

Like everybody's going to go to French laundry.

Chelsey Donn:

Nobody's not going to go there because Jen had this bad experience.

Chelsey Donn:

So I don't really need to give you attention was like what I was feeling from this.

Chelsey Donn:

And I don't like that at all.

Trey Gerrald:

no, I think that's inappropriate.

Trey Gerrald:

I think like you're a service based hospitality industry.

Trey Gerrald:

Like you have to at least pick up the phone and apologize.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

Whereas like the only thing I could possibly think of being lost in the

Trey Gerrald:

that too.

Trey Gerrald:

Yup.

Chelsey Donn:

welfare all moment, the mean moment, the you're

Trey Gerrald:

I do have a question.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I do have a question about context here, because I am curious.

Trey Gerrald:

Some of this has taken out of context because the quotes that are attributed to the ball person

Trey Gerrald:

Like I just, I imagine, like, I can't imagine someone saying like

Trey Gerrald:

Like in a real honest statement, like that is so absurd.

Trey Gerrald:

that you're the mean one of the group is pushing well, that's crossing the line,

Chelsey Donn:

Really good.

Chelsey Donn:

Really solid.

Chelsey Donn:

Again, like we did use caps.

Chelsey Donn:

I tried to read accordingly when we did, but not to an excessive amount.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I think it's funny.

Chelsey Donn:

I really got a sense of who this character was.

Chelsey Donn:

And I can see, even if I read it, like in a, like fake French accent or something

Chelsey Donn:

Over the top character who is just crossing the line, and it's just coming across really gross.

Chelsey Donn:

I also thought it was interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

That there doesn't seem to be consensus amongst the friend group.

Chelsey Donn:

And it makes me wonder if other people were having such a bad experience with Mr.

Chelsey Donn:

Sunshine or if it was just Zen, because it seemed like Mr.

Chelsey Donn:

Sunshine was not a fan of Jen and came at her because the other girls, like, when

Chelsey Donn:

I dunno, there were like getting the special attention with the special dessert.

Chelsey Donn:

I wish they would've said like we were all so offended.

Trey Gerrald:

Good point picking that up.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause it does seem like not everyone in the seven group of women was in

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

There's so much positive happening here.

Chelsey Donn:

And it does seem a little bit like Jen is maybe attracting this negative

Chelsey Donn:

And again, that's completely obviously me reading between the lines, but it

Trey Gerrald:

So is this a deal breaker?

Trey Gerrald:

Would this keep you from going to the French

Chelsey Donn:

Definitely not.

Chelsey Donn:

And I think the French laundry knows that maybe that's why they probably don't care.

Trey Gerrald:

I think I can crown Janice.

Trey Gerrald:

Acqua.

Trey Gerrald:

How about you?

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, let's do it.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh,

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you serious?

Trey Gerrald:

whoa.

Chelsey Donn:

crazy.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

So I am holding a three and a half crowns and tray is holding up one crowd, which never happened.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Try it.

Chelsey Donn:

Let us know why you gave a Acqua.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't think this is because I've been having a bad day.

Trey Gerrald:

I think all that is valuable for me in this Review!

Trey Gerrald:

is that the management didn't seem to want to rectify experience.

Trey Gerrald:

And the star is really because I got a really big laugh out of imagining.

Trey Gerrald:

Altruistic offensive, sarcastic bully of a bald man being so mean to Zen, but it's not

Trey Gerrald:

And like, you know, it's like, I recognize you want to have a really lovely

Trey Gerrald:

And I think this person was sort of a jerk in the retelling, but I could also see.

Trey Gerrald:

Jen was just offended.

Trey Gerrald:

So I said one-star, if I want to go to the French laundry, this is going to have zero impact on me.

Trey Gerrald:

Why did you say three and a half?

Chelsey Donn:

I said three and a half, because I think that Genesis qual should have

Chelsey Donn:

And then I feel like it would have been a lot more accurate.

Chelsey Donn:

I liked the way that they really described the entire situation.

Chelsey Donn:

I just liked the storytelling here and I thought there was a lot of

Chelsey Donn:

Personality a good chuckle.

Chelsey Donn:

There was so much in this that was very specific and unique, which I love in a

Chelsey Donn:

I don't think at the end of the day, this would impact me going.

Chelsey Donn:

So that's what I took points off for, but everything else was kind of hitting for me.

Chelsey Donn:

So that was why I went with three and a half grounds.

Trey Gerrald:

Love it really fun.

Trey Gerrald:

That's really fun.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's go to the French laundry and,

Chelsey Donn:

Um, I got to

Trey Gerrald:

a cost.

Chelsey Donn:

I think as long as I'm prepared, I can come up with a good quippy reply.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I could go head to head with the bald man and I would be okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I think.

Trey Gerrald:

I think so too, that would maybe be fun,

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

but we could save a lot of money and just got a Dex.

Chelsey Donn:

That's true.

Chelsey Donn:

And just maybe a snake into the gardens.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

My queen, we have reached the most Regal portion of our show.

Chelsey Donn:

Who are you?

Chelsey Donn:

Trey and ducting for

VOICEOVER:

My Royal highness.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So today I am going to induct a product that is very important in my life.

Trey Gerrald:

Now this is called A'.

Trey Gerrald:

Thompson Tee.

Trey Gerrald:

T E E.

Trey Gerrald:

So basically I, I think that David found this company on shark tank, like season one or two.

Trey Gerrald:

So the Thompson Tee basically are undershirts, they sell like normal shirts as well,

Chelsey Donn:

that's so nice.

Trey Gerrald:

crazy.

Trey Gerrald:

I am an excessive sweater and I have to tell you, the Thompson Tees have truly changed my life.

Trey Gerrald:

I will never wear a button-down without a tops and tee underneath, it is truly a

Trey Gerrald:

You can't really like distinguish if you didn't know.

Trey Gerrald:

And they just sort of absorb all of the moisture.

Trey Gerrald:

So the color of your armpit on your exterior shirt, never.

Trey Gerrald:

Shows any sweat.

Trey Gerrald:

It really is miraculous.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know who came up with this idea.

Trey Gerrald:

It's great.

Trey Gerrald:

If you don't want to like put a bunch of chemicals on to stop your perspirating wow.

Chelsey Donn:

you said that's so Southern.

Chelsey Donn:

Perrysburg writing.

Trey Gerrald:

Perspiring, then it's a really great alternative and it is so remarkable.

Trey Gerrald:

I love you.

Trey Gerrald:

Thompson Tee.

Trey Gerrald:

I really am a user.

Trey Gerrald:

I have been for many years and I just purchased five more, which reminded me.

Trey Gerrald:

So this week I'm inducting truly, truly a queen and the industry Thompson Tee

Chelsey Donn:

love it.

Chelsey Donn:

This is such a great idea.

Chelsey Donn:

I'll tell a little story in the after-show about a sweater that I now

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, do we have time for a.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

We always have time for Royal reviews.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my goodness.

Trey Gerrald:

Obviously every Review That our show receives is a Royal Review!.

Trey Gerrald:

And today we have one from CANCON86

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

podcasts.

Trey Gerrald:

Five stars.

Trey Gerrald:

Subject is Yas queen.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh,

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey and Trey are a Primo comedy duo who pick apart the absurdity

Trey Gerrald:

The internet brings out the crazies.

Trey Gerrald:

And at last we have a pair who are mining that vast landscape for comedy gold.

Trey Gerrald:

What a joy.

Chelsey Donn:

uh, what a joy you are.

Chelsey Donn:

CANCON86.

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your precious day to write us such a queenly Review!.

Chelsey Donn:

So appreciative and it does mean a lot to us because I agree, like it gets daunting

Trey Gerrald:

And to CANCON86.

Trey Gerrald:

I say, Yas queen.

Chelsey Donn:

Yas queen.
