Welcome to the Elevated Edit, the weekly reset for ambitious women who are done with chaos and ready to actually follow through.
Speaker AI'm your host, Blakely Ramsey, strategist, systems girl and execution coach for entrepreneurs who want structure that sells in a business that feels like peace.
Speaker AHere, we don't chase hustle.
Speaker AWe edit what matters.
Speaker ALet's get into it.
Speaker BHello.
Speaker BIt is time for another short and sweet episode.
Speaker BY' all know I love to give you all these little golden nuggets for when you've got a couple of extra minutes in the car or you're doing laundry or something and you don't have time for an entire episode.
Speaker BYou just want to pack a little punch.
Speaker BToday, I am just going to give you a reminder, and this is something that I have really needed the past couple of weeks.
Speaker BIt's something that I thankfully have been mentored on, and I have had several people remind me, I've had several podcasts remind me, several books remind me, and it put me in a better head space.
Speaker BAnd so I want to pass it forward, and I want to pass it along to you.
Speaker BIf you have been showing up and doing the thing and putting in the reps, and it still feels like nothing is happening, you are not making any progress.
Speaker BYou're not getting any views, you're not getting any downloads, you're not getting any purchases.
Speaker BYou might not be doing anything wrong.
Speaker BYou might just be in the part where most people quit.
Speaker BA lot of us wildly underestimate how long it takes to get really great at something, and I do feel very fortunate that I am a real estate agent, because there is.
Speaker BI.
Speaker BI do feel like real estate is one of those industries where it can feel like, okay, you know, I've got my license and I am ready to go.
Speaker BLike, I know everything.
Speaker BAnd then you actually, it's like the first day you show up at the office, and you're like, okay, now what am I supposed to do?
Speaker BLike, when you get your license, they don't tell you how to start a business, they don't tell you how to get leads, they don't tell you how to, you know, network and all the things.
Speaker BAnd it really does take so long.
Speaker BYou where you're showing houses, you're not writing any offers, you really know how to finesse and communicate with people, and it takes so long.
Speaker BIt took me a solid two years to feel confident and be like, oh, I'm actually making a sustainable income.
Speaker BAnd, you know, unfortunately, a lot of the programs that I'm in, there are so many women who get so frustrated after a couple of months.
Speaker BYou know, they're like, I've been doing the same thing for two months, or I've been doing the same thing for three months.
Speaker BOr I posted on social media every day for three months and nothing happened.
Speaker BAnd it's like, really, in the grand scheme of business and excellence and success, three months is nothing.
Speaker BLike, I'm not joking, I, like I said, real estate was two years.
Speaker BAnd then with the podcast, it took like, I am at a year right now, and I'm finally starting to see significant growth in my downloads.
Speaker BAnd I'm not joking, it took a solid year.
Speaker BLike, for a while there, I was like, why am I even.
Speaker BI mean, I don't love the podcast, but it felt like, what am I doing this for?
Speaker BLike, I'm just talking off into the void.
Speaker BBut now that I'm getting traction, I have a whole library of episodes that my new listeners can go back and listen to.
Speaker BAnd if I had quit when it was uncomfortable, when I felt like no one was listening, I wouldn't have made the progress that I've made now.
Speaker BAnd it's just, I know that it can be so discouraging.
Speaker BLike, trust me, there are days where I'm like, okay, I'm.
Speaker BI've got to get up.
Speaker BI've got to do the same thing that I have done the last 180 days.
Speaker BI have to do the same thing with no results, with, you know, no likes, no views.
Speaker BEspecially right now.
Speaker BInstagram is the Insta.
Speaker BThe Instagram algorithm is not a friend at this point.
Speaker BI'm very thankful that I'm learning paid ads because that is a guarantee of getting in front of people.
Speaker BBecause if it weren't for paid ads right now, I do not know, like, as far as mental headspace in terms of marketing, I don't know what I'd be doing because organic reach with Instagram is just, it's bananas, but it really does.
Speaker BIt just takes reps, it takes time.
Speaker BIt takes staying in the game, getting in the room, and just consistently showing up.
Speaker BI think I mentioned this on a couple episodes ago, but one of my Instagram coaches, she said that it takes showing up on Instagram for 180 days in a row to see results.
Speaker BAnd I think so often.
Speaker BAnd, and I feel this way often too.
Speaker BSo, you know, this isn't shame or guilt, but we're like, man, you know, I posted 20 reels or 20 stories or whatever the case was, and it's like 180 days to see any results.
Speaker BAnd for me, at least, that is so encouraging because it just reminds me that I just haven't been in it long enough.
Speaker BAnd one of my coaches today was talking about how it's so easy for us to look at our idols or our role models or the people that we look up to and be like, wow, I wish I had what she had.
Speaker BLike, I wish I was having the million dollar day.
Speaker BI wish I'm had a team of 20 people.
Speaker BI wish I was getting book deals.
Speaker BI wish I was, you know, getting asked to be on all these podcasts.
Speaker BLike, it.
Speaker BIt really can be so hard to see where you're at and see where they are.
Speaker BBut she encouraged us today.
Speaker BShe said, don't look at where those people are.
Speaker BLook at where they were when they were in your shoes.
Speaker BAnd she said, you know, go back and look at this.
Speaker BTheir Instagram accounts.
Speaker BTen years ago, eight.
Speaker BEight years ago, five years ago.
Speaker BShe said, like, stop looking at where they're at right now and look at where they started.
Speaker BAnd to me, that was just such a good reminder.
Speaker BI know it's common sense, but for.
Speaker BI like to hear these reminders over and over and over again, especially when I'm in a season like, I'm in right now where I'm showing up and doing the same thing every single day.
Speaker BAnd it's really boring.
Speaker BAnd I think when it's really boring and there's no, like, fun action or fun momentum, it can just get so discouraging.
Speaker BAnd so I really just want to encourage you, if there is someone that you are.
Speaker BYou look up to or you're like, man, they are in the position I want to be in.
Speaker BThey have the career that I want to have.
Speaker BThey're hitting the goals that I want to have.
Speaker BLike, I encourage you to look back at their post or their podcast episodes or their, you know, know, whatever their track record, don't look at where they are now.
Speaker BLook at where they were five years ago.
Speaker BLook at where they were 10 years ago.
Speaker BBecause that is when.
Speaker BThat is likely when they were putting in the majority of their effort to get them where they are now.
Speaker BAnd it is.
Speaker BIt's so easy to just watch the highlight reels of, like, man, she went on, like a press tour and, you know, she was on a billboard in, you know, New York Times Square.
Speaker BLike, I.
Speaker BWhy don't I have that?
Speaker BI'm just as talented as she is.
Speaker BAnd the likelihood is you just haven't put in enough time.
Speaker BYou haven't been patient enough.
Speaker BYou haven't let the momentum build.
Speaker BI was telling an agent this the other day.
Speaker BShe was really frustrated with her business, and she was like, you know, I.
Speaker BShe's been in the industry, I guess it's been about a year now.
Speaker BAnd she was like, I just don't feel like it's happening fast enough.
Speaker BI'm like, look, I get it.
Speaker BEverybody wants everything to happen fast.
Speaker BWe're in a fast digital world.
Speaker BEverything's at our fingertips, and we want everything right now, right when we want it.
Speaker BI said, but, you know, real estate and business, it's like, at the beginning, you have to make the snowball.
Speaker BSo you have to pick up the snow.
Speaker BYou have to pack it yourself.
Speaker BYou know, you have to put in the effort.
Speaker BAnd then if you want to roll it, you have to put it on the ground.
Speaker BIt's likely going to fall apart.
Speaker BAnd you're like, man, this is so much work.
Speaker BLike, this is so much effort.
Speaker BAnd you're having to manually do everything, manually roll the snowball.
Speaker BBut then eventually it'll start to get a little bit bigger, a little bit bigger, and you can start to, okay, well, I don't have to, like, form it myself anymore.
Speaker BI can just push it, and then you can just push the snowball.
Speaker BPush it.
Speaker BAnd then eventually it'll be rolling down the hill by itself.
Speaker BAnd I think so often, and I'm guilty of this, too, but we look at other people's snowball just gliding down the mountain, and we're like, man, they just have it so easy.
Speaker BThey just have better circumstances than me.
Speaker BThey just, you know, had a better.
Speaker BA better start.
Speaker BThey got off on a better foot.
Speaker BAnd it's like.
Speaker BWell, the.
Speaker BMost of the time, the people that look like their snowball is just rolling down the hill, they put in serious work to create that initial momentum.
Speaker BAnd it is.
Speaker BI.
Speaker BI know it's hard.
Speaker BI wish there was an easy button, and I could just make the patience and the frustration and the.
Speaker BThe agony of sitting in that river of misery go away.
Speaker BBut the people that.
Speaker BThat win just stay in it longer.
Speaker BThat really is just the truth.
Speaker BBut.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BI hope that this was a good reminder for you today.
Speaker BI.
Speaker BYou're gonna laugh when you hear this.
Speaker BTotally dropped the ball today.
Speaker BI am.
Speaker BActually, it is.
Speaker BIt is 9:39 on the.
Speaker BThe Thursday before the Friday of this podcast release.
Speaker BI totally forgot to record this episode.
Speaker BTypically, it's the first thing I do when I get to the office because I like to record with fresh energy.
Speaker BI'm excited, I'm pumped, I'm Ready to go.
Speaker BI get in, I record, I edit, I do show notes, I work on promo, and then I knock everything else out.
Speaker BBut that's the first thing I get done.
Speaker BI make it a priority, and I usually do it two or three days in advance.
Speaker BSo that way, if something comes up already, have it done.
Speaker BWell, this week has been bananas.
Speaker BB A, N A, N, A, S.
Speaker BThank you, Gwen Stefani.
Speaker BWould any of us know how to spell bananas if it weren't for her?
Speaker BTruly?
Speaker BThanks.
Speaker BShe's just a girl.
Speaker BI.
Speaker BThis week has been bananas.
Speaker BAnd then I got to the office this morning, and my schedule, a call that I thought was going to be at a certain time.
Speaker BI didn't look at the time zone, the time zone difference, but also the host of the call kind of got things confused.
Speaker BAnd so when I got to the office, I was like, scrambling immediately in the call.
Speaker BAnd then I already had a busy day on top of that, so I just had a lot of moving parts and I left the office, came home, dilly, dallied around the house, cleaned, cooked, we had a beautiful homemade dinner, we watched a movie, and I came and laid down and I was like.
Speaker BBecause I normally kind of just think through a little bit of marketing for the podcast episode that's going to come out the next day.
Speaker BJust like, what do I want to talk about in stories?
Speaker BHow do I want to, you know, promote it or whatever.
Speaker BAnd I went to think about it, I was like, oh, my gosh, I never recorded that podcast episode.
Speaker BSo I'm literally like, full on under the comforter.
Speaker BThankfully, I have a microphone here at the house.
Speaker BIt's not as great as the one at the office, but if you are having difficulty being consistent with content, start a podcast.
Speaker BAnd I promise it will change the game for you because it will force you to be consistent.
Speaker BThere's no.
Speaker BOh, well, I just won't.
Speaker BI just.
Speaker BI'll just post something next week.
Speaker BLike, you're like, no, I post every stinking Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Speaker BThere will be a podcast episode.
Speaker BCome out tomorrow at 7am period.
Speaker BIt'll make you so consistent, but.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BThat's all I've got for you.
Speaker BReporting live from my bedroom.
Speaker BGoodness.
Speaker BOh, goodness gracious.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BI hope you got some value out of this, some motivation.
Speaker BThat's what I want.
Speaker BI want you to stay in the game.
Speaker BI want you to stick it out.
Speaker BYou can do it.
Speaker BThe people that win are just the ones that stay in the game longer.
Speaker BOkay?
Speaker BYou rock.
Speaker BYou got this.
Speaker BHave an amazing rest of your day.
Speaker BAnd I'LL see you in the next episode.
