Welcome to the first podcast of 2025.
Heather MastersIt's the choosing Happy Podcast.
Heather MastersI'm Heather Masters, your host.
Heather MastersAnd as it's 2025, the beginning of a new year, I wanted to take the opportunity to go deeply into a subject that many people are interested in, a lot of us maybe struggle with.
Heather MastersI know I have, that is aligning with the person that, that you want to be.
Heather MastersWho do you want to be in 2025?
Heather MastersHow do you want to show up?
Heather MastersHow do you want to bring out that authentic you that maybe you've dampened down, maybe you've kept hidden?
Heather MastersMaybe there's some fear around showing up as who you really are.
Heather MastersAnd that's my offer for the New year today, is to work with me through an exercise to align with the person that you want to be in 2025, the person you want to be in all of your life, how you want to show up in your business, and how you want to be that gift to the world.
Heather MastersSo stay tuned for this week's Choosing Happy Podcast.
Heather MastersForeign hello and welcome to the Choosing Happy Podcast.
Heather MastersI'm Heather Masters and today I really do have a special episode where you get to go deep with some advanced neuro linguistic programming techniques to work out who you really want to be and actually who you are.
Heather MastersBecause most of us, if we show up as who we actually are and we take on the traits of who we want to be in the world in order to get the results that maybe we've set for ourselves in our New Year's resolutions and our goals, then the identity of who will fulfill the goals, who can succeed at those goals, is so very important in taking on that thinking, that way of being, being will guarantee that you achieve what you want in the world.
Heather MastersSo today we are going to look at aligning with the person that you want to be.
Heather MastersOne of the qualities of leaders that make them desirable as people, as those who others choose to follow is the clarity of their example.
Heather MastersTheir words align with their actions, their motives align with their stated values and beliefs.
Heather MastersAnd it's this alignment, this oneness with themselves that is so compelling.
Heather MastersFew people ever really achieve that on a consistent basis.
Heather MastersAnd this is what we're going to really delve into today is how can you show up more often as the person you want to be?
Heather MastersThose who do stand out from the rest of us and provide a direction and a certainty that is attractive to others who seek certainty for themselves.
Heather MastersAnd that's been one of my real big learnings over the last two weeks.
Heather MastersI kind of knew it at one level, but at a different level.
Heather MastersThe importance of certainty is massive.
Heather MastersAnd how we create that certainty for ourselves in our lives and our businesses and how we let go of that self doubt that may have held us back and caused a lot of self sabotage is key as well.
Heather MastersWe do have moments of this kind of honesty, Even if it's fleeting.
Heather MastersI'm sure you've experienced it.
Heather MastersAnd there's great value in knowing those moments.
Heather MastersOnce we recognize them, we can increase the possibility that we can consciously choose them.
Heather MastersYou may have experienced this state of oneness and others.
Heather MastersThose moments when every aspect of someone's actions line up with who they are and who they are capable of being.
Heather MastersYou may have seen it with your children, you may have seen it with celebrities or if someone you know.
Heather MastersI know this about introverts.
Heather MastersBeing one myself, I may be an introvert, but if there is something that I stand for that's been challenged against my values, I can stand up and stand in my power and speak about it.
Heather MastersYou'll have seen outstanding performances by top sports people or renditions by musicians.
Heather MastersAligning with yourself and showing up as the person you want to be Is a state of profound influence.
Heather MastersYou become magnetic to others.
Heather MastersIt's kind of those making moments.
Heather MastersSo let's go through an exercise that can help you to step into the state, but first of all to recognize the state and when you've experienced it before so that you can repeat it.
Heather MastersNeuro linguistic programming is often assumed that it's manipulative, that you're using a load of techniques to work on people.
Heather MastersAnd actually the most powerful way to use neuro linguistic programming is to use modeling to use your take on the aspects of curiosity.
Heather MastersTo be able to create in yourself the behavior that you would like to see.
Heather MastersAs Mahatma Gandhi said, be the change you want to see in the world.
Heather MastersThat's really what it's about.
Heather MastersIt's about learning to be that change.
Heather MastersAnd by doing that, we begin by modeling our own behavior.
Heather MastersTimes that we have been at one with ourselves.
Heather MastersSo I'm going to invite you to start by doing that today.
Heather MastersSo the first thing to do is to think of a time when you're not at one with yourself.
Heather MastersWhen you felt off balance, out of kilter.
Heather MastersYou kind of knew that you weren't who you know yourself to be and identify what it was like for you and do it quickly, like step into it.
Heather MastersNow, you don't have to stay in this state for long, but it just gives you an opportunity to Experience it and then to describe it, describe it as if you're reliving it.
Heather MastersIf you have someone to work with, talk to someone else and make sure that they don't allow you to dwell on this for more than a brief moment.
Heather MastersAnother way to do this is to use zoom and to actually record yourself doing it.
Heather MastersAnd again, just staying in that state fleetingly and letting it go so you're not caught in the out of kilter negativity of yourself, you just experiencing it briefly describe it as you relive the time.
Heather MastersNote how you look, how you move, note whether you're in alignment or not in your gestures and how you sound.
Heather MastersNote the quality of your voice as well.
Heather MastersAnd if you can video it, this is really useful to do.
Heather MastersIf you're on your own and now step out of that, do something completely different to change your state and we can then go on to the next part of the exercise.
Heather MastersMaybe have a sip of coffee or write down what you're you're making for your meal tonight, what shopping you need to do or what's the next thing you're going to do after listening to this podcast.
Heather MastersOkay, now come back and identify a time when you felt totally at one with yourself, completely aligned.
Heather MastersIt doesn't matter what you were doing, it doesn't matter whether it was work, it doesn't matter whether it was with family or whether you were alone.
Heather MastersIt doesn't matter whether you with friends.
Heather MastersThe only criterion for your choice is that you recognize this state of oneness where everything felt just right and what you were doing was effortless, even if it had taken a lot of practice or preparation.
Heather MastersSo I know for me I felt this state of oneness quite weirdly when giving a talk on project management because, because I'd practiced, because I had lots of preparation and experience.
Heather MastersI was kind of in the zone and confidence and my sense of humor was coming out and who I am was coming out.
Heather MastersSo have a have a think about that.
Heather MastersHave a time when everything felt just right.
Heather MastersHave a time in your mind and it would have been a time that you would have experienced as being energized as opposed to draining.
Heather MastersAnd really step into that now.
Heather MastersImagine yourself back in that moment.
Heather MastersSo for me I'm back in that room giving that talk.
Heather MastersImagine yourself back in that moment for you when you recognize what you were doing, what did you see, what did you hear and possibly even smell and taste as you take yourself back to that moment and what did you feel.
Heather MastersAnd it's important feeling to remember so really feel into it.
Heather MastersNotice the feeling, notice the emotion.
Heather MastersNotice the feelings in your body.
Heather MastersNotice that feeling of congruence of oneness with yourself and awareness of your true self, of who you truly are.
Heather MastersAnd just hold that and identify a trigger that you can use to recall this feeling.
Heather MastersIt could be a word or a sound that will remind you of the feeling.
Heather MastersSo for me, thriving is a great word for me, because I.
Heather MastersI feel like I'm standing in that moment and I'm in alignment.
Heather MastersI'm in the zone and I'm thriving.
Heather MastersEverything my energy is raised.
Heather MastersI'm thriving in the sense of feeling completely alive.
Heather MastersAnd you can set an anchor if you want.
Heather MastersYou can set a physical anchor, like pinching an earlobe or squeezing of your forefinger against your thumb.
Heather MastersWhatever it is, what you're doing is setting up an association with something so you can repeat and reproduce that kind of state when you want to.
Heather MastersThis will enable you to really step into and recall the feeling of oneness whenever you choose to.
Heather MastersNow that we've identified this and you've got the video of both, what I'd invite you to do is actually go back and watch the videos and notice the difference.
Heather MastersNotice the energy and the change in your physical appearance, your voice, etc.
Heather MastersAs well.
Heather MastersSo when you're in that state of oneness, describe it out loud into the video or with a partner.
Heather MastersLet them know what that quality is for you.
Heather MastersSo describing the experience as if you're reliving it with the oneness, stay there for as long as you can so that you.
Heather MastersYou build that muscle and repeat this exercise, especially the oneness, the feeling at one, and boosting that anchor each time so that you can practice this state at will and you can step into that oneness before maybe you do a podcast, you do a speech even before you create a piece of content, whether, even if it's writing something, that you're creating that oneness, and you're creating that powerful state of being, who you truly are, so that you're magnetic and attractive to your audience.
Heather MastersHaving the state of being, your true self, allows you to access the resources you have within at all times.
Heather MastersAnd state is so much more influential than we realize.
Heather MastersIt's one of those aspects of our physiology, of our mental state, that we can use it to prepare for situations.
Heather MastersAnd it's often overlooked.
Heather MastersAnd it's yet one of the most important factors in determining whether or not we achieve the influence and the results that we most dearly want.
Heather MastersFor instance, if you're creating a Course, if you're doing anything around sales and influence or marketing and you're in a different doubtful state, then you're unlikely to create the energy, the materials, and the influence you want that gives your audience the absolute certainty that you can deliver on what you're promising.
Heather MastersSo if you're going to make a promise about how you can deliver, you have to be certain, first of all, that you can step into this state, you can be at oneness and deliver those results for your audience as well.
Heather MastersAnd it's the same in general in life, if we're showing up for our own family and being able to step into that powerful state and helping them in the best way we can, becoming the person that we truly are, allowing ourselves to shine, if you like.
Heather MastersI hope this has been helpful.
Heather MastersToday in 2025, I've set some visions and goals to help at least a thousand people become the person they want to be.
Heather MastersAnd in addition to that, create the business, the service they want to put it out into the world.
Heather MastersAnd in doing both and aligning both, making sure that they reach as many people as possible with their gift, with their greatness, with their message, using not just things like neuro linguistic programming, but their energy, their spirit, their true self, and also the practical tools and the practical steps that we have to take on a daily basis to create the impact that we want in the world.
Heather MastersAnd this even includes getting down to systems and processes that are repeatable.
Heather MastersSo you're not spending every day creating reams of content, but that you create something that's practical, repeatable.
Heather MastersIt's a big idea.
Heather MastersIf you had a look at my newsletter recently, it's about creating something that you have a passion for that is absolutely aligned with you and that you want to gift to the world.
Heather MastersAnd that's going to make the biggest difference not only to you, but your audience.
Heather MastersIn 2025.
Heather MastersMy gift is I have a PDF for the big Idea.
Heather MastersIf you haven't got that one big idea that can make a difference to you, I'm putting together a course that goes further into aligning with yourself your values.
Heather MastersIt's called Clear, clarity and Create.
Heather MastersAnd it's not only about goals, but it's aligning those goals with the deepest part of who you are at an identity level, at a spiritual level, and aligning it with your gifts and talents so that you're showing up in 2025 authentically, powerfully, magnetically.
Heather MastersAnd I invite you to drop me an email if you're interested in that.
Heather MastersIt's in the preparation stages at the moment, and I'll put it out there when I think I have enough people interested.
Heather MastersSo take a moment to do that and let me know.
