We take our verse of Scripture from the Revised Common Lectionary Year C.

Right now we're in the Pentecost season.

Let's get into our reading for today, which is from Ephesians 1:17 19 Reading from the message that's why when I heard of the solid trust you have in the Master of Jesus and your outpouring of love to all the followers of Jesus, I couldn't stop thanking God for you.

Every time I prayed I think of you and give thanks.

But I do more than thank.

I ask ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of Glory, to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do.

Grasp the immensity of his glorious way of life he has for his followers.

Oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust Him.

Endless energy, boundless strength.

Oh boy, I love this verse of Scripture.

It's powerful and it speaks to spiritual awakening.

Be woke, Be awake.

Collective purpose and the transformative power of divine love.

Let's get into some points to ponder.

The first has to do with collective wisdom and growth and and the author here celebrates not only individual achievement, but collective spiritual growth and mutual love.

This reminds us that authentic spirituality isn't about personal enlightenment alone, but about building a beloved community in an age of individualism.

This passage calls us to remember that we grow in understanding through relationship and shared experience.

A second point to ponder is about revolutionary clarity.

The prayer for quote, intelligent and discerning knowing isn't about academic knowledge but about seeing clearly through the fog of oppressive systems and false narratives.

This clarity helps us recognize both divine presence in our world and the systems that work against divine love and justice.

True spiritual discernment leads to action.

A third point is about abundant energy for justice.

I love this one.

The quote, endless energy and quote boundless strength mentioned aren't just spiritual metaphors, they are resources for sustained justice work.

This passage suggests that connecting deeply with divine purpose provides the stamina needed for long term commitment to social transformation.

It's a reminder that burnout isn't inevitable when we're aligned with a divine purpose.

Let's talk about action this week.

Practice community discernment, I.e.

gather with others, maybe in person or perhaps virtually, who are seeking to live out their faith through some form of justice work.

Share your understanding of what God is calling you to do in your context.

Listen deeply to others perspectives and together identify one concrete action your group can take to address a local justice issue.

Remember, clarity often comes through collective wisdom.
