[00:00:00] Hey everyone, welcome back. Who wants to make some money online as a nursepreneur? Today we're talking all things making money online as a nursepreneur. I truly firmly believe that every nurse should have a side hustle. Just to add that to your place, you've got, you know, I don't have enough to do already.

But if you're somebody that this speaks to, stick around, because in this episode today, I'm going to be diving into why I think you should have a side hustle, and why you should 100 percent consider it, moving into 2024. Now, when I first started my nursing business, it was a side hustle. It was not a full time thing that generated a lot of money.

There are multiple episodes and I'm going to be talking more about this in 2024 because I truly believe that there's an opportunity for us to really empower nurses to make money online instead of working overtime and I'm coining that so don't come for me, don't steal it.

I really want to help more nurses [00:01:00] do what I've done. I get messages all the time, Liam, how did you do what you've done? Like, how have you lived in, lived overseas for 12 months, replaced your income, you know, built a community, done all of these things? Now, it's not been hard, and the reason why I haven't spoke about this fully up until this point is because, ultimately, it's difficult!

And it's challenging! And the amount of work that you need to put in to build something that is sustainable, that grows, that actually replaces your income, Takes a lot of time, effort, and input, and that's why entrepreneurship is not for the faint hearted. But I'm excited to work with, and I'm already working with some nurses who are building an online nurse preneur presence and programs and coaching practices.

And I'm so excited about it, and I can't not talk about it on the podcast. So here are some reasons why I just want to plant the seed today why you should consider making money. online as a side hustle as a nurse. There are people online that talk about it being easy and it can be easy. I always think that I do everything the hard way.

I [00:02:00] feel like that's my, my process in life. Everything needs to be difficult, but through that difficulty and through doing it the hard way, I learn what does work and what doesn't work, and I've tried nearly all of the things. I've still got more to try. But when it comes to running an online nurse business where you offer some kind of service, coaching, consultancy, I've done all of it, nearly, okay.

There's still things that I need to try and explore, but I'm getting to the point now where I'm like really confident that what I've been able to do, people can replicate and they can do it in their own way. And probably get to the result that I got to much, much quicker. And that's what I've done in careers for years, is I've helped nurses get to their goals much quicker than it took me.

And I love that. I'm living for it. That's why I'm here. So, number one, the reason why you should make money online and consider being a nursepreneur and starting a side hustle is because you can make money from your couch. You can make money being asleep. You can make money [00:03:00] leveraging the skills, knowledge, and the experience and the wisdom that you have right now.

What the hell? This world that we live in right now is cray cray. A modern nursing career does no longer need to be and exist in a hospital for 30 years, slogging your guts and busting your ass, waiting for the pay rise, waiting for the EBA to update. You can make money online and replace the overtime that you work.

I'm not gonna say with ease because it's easy but there's work involved in it. Nothing that creates a result. Somebody says oh it's gonna be easy, they're lying to you. Run. They are lying to you. So you can make money online. Isn't it amazing from the comfort of your own home? This has been such an interesting experience for me to be in Paris.

I've been in Paris for 12 months. I'm moving back to Australia next year and of course you guys in Australia are awake when I'm asleep. So, imagine this. You put your work out into the world. You create something of value. People like it. [00:04:00] They want it. You put a price point on it. It's a reasonable price point.

People buy it. You wake up in the morning to sales. Before you've even had your morning coffee, you've made a couple hundred bucks. How would that be for you? It's pretty, it's pretty sweet. I'll tell you it's pretty freaking amazing. It's totally possible. You don't have to be a coach You don't have to be, you know, doing all these certifications.

You can just make money online Just like that Start there. Start small, build it as we move forward. Now, I love this. You can stop working overtime in a job that burns you out and you can start making money online from a passion, from something that you love. If you're still working as a nurse, and this is what I highly recommend people do, they reduce their hours as a nurse, they find a job that is easy to execute as a nurse, and then they start building.

their presence online. So cognitively they can kind of not check out at work but they don't need to. It's kind of like quiet quitting. They're there. They're doing their job. They're doing great. They're getting paid. But they're [00:05:00] starting to build something that is a side hustle that allows them to do something that they love and leverage their unique selling point, their unique value to the world.

Every one of you listening has a unique selling point. Whatever your life experience has been up until this point, you could coach on that. You could support somebody through that. You could monetize that. What kind of world do we live in? People make money on TikTok through doing a three second ad and they make 10 grand.

I don't think influencership is sustainable, it's very cancel culture, but you want to build something that is a side hustle that can build and grow with you. So that you start making a couple of dollars here, a couple of dollars there, and then you start waking up to making a thousand bucks extra a week, maybe even more.

It's totally possible. I've gone from making nothing online to making four figure months, five figure months, right? How do I say that? Is it multiple five figures? I don't even know. Six figures in a year, right? Making my nursing salary in a six month [00:06:00] period. Take the rest of the year off. When you become a nursepreneur and you have a side hustle, your income is uncapped.

It's incredible. So all that overtime, like going back to the work environment and working overtime in an environment that burns you out, why would you do that? You can work online, from the comfort of your home, in your cosies. Building something you're so passionate about that you know the world needs.

You can get started today with your phone. You need nothing else. Did you know you can create like designs and PDFs and digital guides on Canva for free? And then just post it out into the world? Now of course people aren't just going to come and buy it. There's a big misconception. People think I'll create it, then they'll come and get it.

Nursepreneurship is an evolution. It's a constant editing of what you have to offer, and it's a constant tweaking and tailoring. So if you're somebody that likes to do something really well first, and then that's it and it's one and done, nursepreneurship is not for you. It's a constant need to pivot, to embrace the uncertainty, and [00:07:00] to try and test different things.

That is a skill set you can build and grow and evolve. When I first started, I wanted to throw the towel in straight away. Because even though there was a low barrier to entry, I was not as flexible at trying different things. I was so invested. This is amazing. If somebody didn't like it, I felt like it was a personal attack on me.

But as you build your skills as an entrepreneur, you can start to see, oh my god, the barrier to entry is so low. And when I start to acknowledge that, you know, not everybody's gonna love what I have to say or what I have to put out there, but there are people that will love it and they're my people, the world's your oyster.

You're gonna make money online. I also love that you can add an extra 100 to your income each month, or you could add a million dollars to your income. You have uncapped opportunities. This is why I'm an entrepreneur. This is why I'm an entrepreneur. I have shied away from talking about money so much, because I think there's a lot of shame culture around money, in healthcare in particular, because we think we're not paid enough, and I [00:08:00] totally agree with you, and I agree.

But it's like, oh well, if somebody else is doing well, you know, this is my childhood, but if somebody else is doing really well Like, they must be doing something dodgy. And what I've learned to be true is that, like, the more money you make, the less you actually do in the online space. It's fascinating to me.

That sounds intriguing to you? It's amazing. It's totally possible for you too. So, you can have a goal of making an extra hundred bucks a week. Right? How would an extra, three thousand dollars a year help you? Might be amazing, like you might need an extra 30, 000. And you can go and do a job, you can go and take a marking job that kind of numbs you out and you can do that and make 50 bucks an hour.

But what if you created something, put it out into the world, it was awesome, you got in front of people and you made 500 bucks a week from it. And you didn't have to do anything, it just sold itself. You have to do stuff, but it sells, right, whilst you sleep. It's [00:09:00] totally possible for you You can replace your full time income online helping you reduce your clinical hours I didn't set out on this path to be a full time entrepreneur.

Honestly, I didn't I Didn't even think it was possible. I Thought how is that ever gonna happen? How am I ever gonna be able to replace my nursing salary of five six K a month? You know before tax. How is that even possible? But I started getting into circles and investing in myself and learning that What I thought was possible in the world, like, there are people that are making a hundred thousand dollars a week.

A million dollars a month. A million dollars in a day. 52 million dollars in a year. My coach makes 50 million dollars in a year. US dollars, by the way, for the Aussies. 50 million in a year. That's incredible. That's insane. It breaks my brain. I still can't even comprehend what that must be like. [00:10:00] But how exciting to be able to be like, I can completely transform my life.

I can up level all of my experiences. I can take the one time that I'm on this earth and stop bitching, complaining and whining about nursing. That's not going to change. This is my experience. And then go and do something and bet on me. My coach says this all the time. You better bet on yourself because you can't bet on anybody else.

Betting on yourself is the safest, most secure investment you'll ever make. It's you, like your brain. It's so valuable. You're just adding more value to it. The more valuable your brain, the more value you can offer to the world. The more value you offer to the world, the more money you will make. It's a money value.

It's a value money exchange. That's why people pay you for anything. It's how much value you can offer to them. And that will vary for all of you, but you can. Replace your full time income. Since starting my business, I've made over 300k in my business. Breaks my brain. What the hell? Breaks my brain. I've made over [00:11:00] 300k.

Started in my freaking bedroom, on my laptop, on my lap, and now I do this full time. And just because I said I made 300k doesn't mean that's profit, right? There are costs in running a business. There's so many layers to it. But I'm still so proud of that. I generated value that didn't previously exist, and I've been able to monetize that, used my skill set so nothing was lost from my lived experience, and now I get to empower other people doing it.

It's the best feeling in the world, I can't even comprehend, like, can't even tell you what that's like. You can do that too. You can reduce your clinical hours, you can work one day a week, you can, I have a friend in the UK who's set up her own business, she's been on a podcast, Charlotte, she's a nurse entrepreneur, and she's good at cosmetics.

She runs her own clinic. She works one day a week in the ICU, just because she likes to keep her hand in. she goes, she really enjoys it, because it's just one day a week. She loves nursing again. And then she works, down in England, and she goes and sees [00:12:00] celebrities and does Botox for them! Amazing!

She's on an app, they, like, she can't tell me who they are, and I'm like, trying to get it out of her. But she goes and does celebrity Botox and injections and stuff. Amazing! She's been able to build her income online, online and in clinic, but creates so much freedom for her family and for her future.

You're setting your future self up when you set up a side hustle online. You can work from anywhere, at any time, on your terms. This is my favourite thing. I no longer need to be up at a certain time. Which, I'm not a lazy person, like, I'm not saying if you're lying you're lazy. Haha! Maybe. but I am somebody that likes to get up and go!

But now I get up and go and I go for a walk and I look after myself first and then I give back to the world. And I've created a schedule where sometimes I don't feel like working and I don't work. But I know that I need to work tomorrow because that's how I make money. So you create a new level of discipline in yourself, but you also create so many opportunities.

So now this year, for example, I have been [00:13:00] on Over 10 holidays slash trips, weekends away, because we're in Europe and we're leveraging being so close to everything, so we made it a goal that we would do as many trips as we possibly could. So, I have worked from Miami, I've worked from New York, I've worked from Dallas, Texas, I've worked from Portugal, I've worked from Barcelona, I've worked from Turkey.

I've taken calls in Italy, I've taken calls in Scotland and my parents, like I have been so busy this year with travel while still building a business because I have time and location freedom. I have money coming in online because people buy things that are of value to them when I'm asleep, which is amazing.

And then I have other offers where I show up and I coach and help people transform their careers and their mindset and their business. It's amazing. I can do it from anywhere at any time. What's not to love about that? It's so good. The other thing, the reason why I became an entrepreneur is because you can have so much [00:14:00] impact when you have a side hustle slash business.

You can have a much bigger impact than you ever would have had before. So I used to always have this pool. to impact more people. I just felt like when I was a nurse manager, 50 people, I was like, oh, it's only 50 people. And that's just me. Maybe you would love to impact 50 people, but I just always had this inner calling, this inner knowing, like, I'm here to impact a lot of people.

I just feel that in my core. So I started the podcast. The side hustle allowed me to start the podcast. And now we've had 70, 000 plus downloads of this podcast over, you know, 40 countries. In Australia, USA, India, Denmark, Fiji, like all of the places. Korea, the UK, it's incredible. And so now I have such a big impact in the world.

I'm able to influence more people. I'm able to help them achieve what they want to achieve and get to their goals faster than I did. That, for me, is so empowering. Maybe for you that's not something that's empowering. But [00:15:00] you get to spread your wisdom with a much larger audience. And I absolutely love that.

This one's going to get me a little bit emotional. You become a version of you that you could never have imagined possible. I just got goosebumps. You become a version of you that you never ever thought was possible or capable. I have said it so many times on this podcast. Some days I want to throw the towel in.

Some days I'm like, oh my god, you've still got so much work to do. Some days I see people that start a side hustle and it blows up overnight. And I'm like, oh 1500 posts, 150 podcast episodes, like, WTF? , what's going on, . But I always come back to this like I have a plan, I have a vision, I have a future version of me that is calling me, that is like, Liam, you can do this.

You're capable. Look at what you've achieved so far. Look at how you never thought you could sell a hundred dollars and you're now generated over 300 K [00:16:00] in three years. Most of that was in two years. Because the first year I made 10 . Right? So it's like, oh my goodness. What is left for me to achieve? There is so much potential for me moving forward.

My coach started her coaching career as a side hustle, as a business. She started at 300k a year in the US. She built it up to 300k. And she was like, oh, I'm happy with this. And then she had a million dollar year. And then she had a ten million dollar year. And then now she has fifty two million dollar years.

I say this not because I think the money is that important. To me, like, I live a very comfortable life. I don't necessarily need bucket loads of money. I do it because I'm here to impact. I'm here to help the industry grow and heal. And the money is like a strategic byproduct of it. It allows me to do nice things that I want to do.

And I think we all can have access to that. There is abundance out there, we've just got to call it in. We've got to see that we're worthy of it. [00:17:00] And the version of me that is in the future that's achieved all of the things, that's still achieving all of the things, that version of me It's so empowering and it's so exciting to go and visit that version of me and be like what will it be like when I'm in the hospitals and I'm coaching and impacting more clinicians and I'm helping heal and transform the system.

I'm introducing nervous system regulation into education and I'm helping support nurse leaders and managers through trauma informed leadership. I have all these ideas. The version of Liam that was working in the hospital had these ideas but knew they were never possible. I had to shed that old identity and version of me to create a new version of me.

To create space for where I'm going. And that's what's so exciting about having a side hustle. It requires you to stretch beyond what you ever thought was possible. It allows you to see that what you thought was capable, You aren't even scratching the surface. You, my friend listening, have not even scratched the surface of what you are capable of creating.

Whether or not you do a [00:18:00] side hustle, I can tell you right now, you have scratched, you've just put a little dent in what is actually possible for you moving forward. And my hope and vision for everybody listening is to, either whether you create a side hustle or not, is to uncover and to unlock infinite possibility in what is available to you.

you because we all have our stories as to why we can't and why we're not amazing and we're not unique and special and we're not good at sales and we don't have something of value to offer to the world. But all of that is bullshit story. It's not true. It's not factual. And when we get out of our own way, we can create incredible things that reward us immensely beyond what we ever thought was possible.
