effectscreatorsintheeighties.MillerhimselfwouldsayhowhecameupwiththekillsinaQandAonhiswebsite.Allthedeathsinthatfilmwereborrowedliberallyfrommychildhoodnightmares.UntilIwastenoreleven,Icheckedundermybedtomakesurenobodywashidingthere.Sothat'swhyIhadthekillerinFridaystabKevinBaconfrombeneaththecampbed.Further,Iwasalwaysafraidofbeingsmashedintheface.That'swhyIhadtheactressgetaxedintheface.Inthatway,ImanagedtoexercisemychildhoodfearsinwhatIfeelwasaveryhealthyway.TogetherwithhisassistantTasoStavrakis,whoalsosteppedinasanoffcamerastandin,aswellasthepovhandsandfeetofthekiller,theycreatedthelifelikeappendagesforthevariousdeathscenes.Butasthiswasanobudgetmovie,everythingwasdonequicklyandascheaplyaspossible.SaviniandStavrakissetupamakeshiftstudiowithinthecamp,aswellassleepinginthecamptoo.WhenitcametoAnniesdeath,theywerelosingthelightwhilefilming.ButSevinisaidhecouldsetherupwithprostheticandbebackinthewoodsin30minutes.Andhewas.Andthatwasasimpleneckprostheticthatopenedasspewedblood.AsactressRobbieMorgantiltedherheadback,theeffectsgotalittlemorerudimentaryasthesheetprogressed.Withtimeandmoneyhastilyrunningout,theaxetothefaceofMarcyendedupjustbeingajokemagicstoreaxegluedtoactressJanineTaylorsface.Andthepiecederesistancewouldbethefinale,wheremissesVoorheeswasdecapitated.ItwasashoulderrigwornbyTassoStavrakis,whichwasdecapitated.Andifyoupausethemovieatjusttherightmoment,youcanseeMrsVoorheeshassurprisinglhairyknuckles.SaviniandStavrakiswouldcomeupwiththeimaginativekillsinthemovie,aswellastheblooditself.Amixofkarosyrup,redfoodcolouringandKodakphotoflow,achemicalforphotodevelopingwhichaidedinbothcolourandviscosity.ButKodakphotoflowisactuallyquitepoisonousandseriouslyinjuredHarryCrosbywhenhischaracterisimpaledwithanarrow.ThescreambloodseepedbetweenthelatexmoldofhisfakeinjuredeyeandCrosbysrealeye,exposinghimtothechemicalswherehestartedtolosehisvision,andhewasrushedtohospital.Ittooksixmonthsforhisvisiontoreturninthateye.TherewasalsoanincidentbyKevinBaconscharacterJacksdeathsceneonthebed.Hischaracterwouldgetanarrowtothethroatfrombehind,andbaconwaskneelingunderthebedandhisheadwasattachedtoadummybodywiththearrowtopiercetheneckandreleasethebloodspurt.Butthetubeusedtopumpthebloodintothewoundseparatedfromitscontainer,andthecrewonlyhadonechancetogettheshotbeforetheonlydummybodytheyhadwasruined.SoStavrakmouldisblewthescreenbloodthroughthetubewithhismouthinadesperateattempttosavetheshot.Butobviouslythefakebloodcompletelypoisonous.Sohehurriedtothelaketorinsehismouth,andBaconhimselfalsogotsomeofthefakebloodinhismouthandhadtoensurehespatitallout.Luckily,sincethosedays,anumberofnewsafebloodformulashavebeeninventedspecificallyforuseintheeyeandthemouththatarenottoxicorpoisonousinanyway.Itiseversoslightlyironic,though,thatthehumandeathsareallfaked,withsomepainandtemporaryblindnessthrowninforgoodmeasure.Butthatluxurywasntaffordedtoananimalonset.Theinfamoussnakedeath,whichwasntintheoriginalscript,reallywasagenuinedeath.Asasmallindependentproduction,therewouldhavebeennorequirementfortheAmericanHumaneassociation,theownersofthenoAnimalsforharmcertification,firstissuedin1972,tobepresentonset.Itwasafter1980,whentheassociationwasrequiredinallScreenActorsGuildproductions,basicallyunionproductions,thattheymustcontactAmericanwasn'thumaneinadvanceatanyanimalsbeingonset.Andafter1988,theguidelinesforthesafeuseofanimalsinfieldmediawasestablished.ThesnakeinFridaythe13thwasaharmlessindigosnake,anditwasgenuinelyhackedtodeathbyamachete.Thehandlerofthesnakeapparentlydidn'tknowthiswasgoingtohappenandwasincrediblyupset,asyouwouldbeforthedeathofaninnocentanimal.TheurbanlegendwasconfirmedbyTomSavinionTwitterin2022,whereheconfirmedhewasnotthepersonwhokilledthesnake,norwasheevenupsetwhenthesnakewaskilled.Inanothertwistoffate,itwashewhosuggestedtheseedafterfindingasnakeinhiscabinonset,becauseasImentioned,hewasactuallystayinginthecabinsonset.Duringfilming.Everyoneelsewassetupinahotel,buthewasactuallystayinginthecabins.TheoriginalendingforFridaythe13thhadAlicekillingPamelaVoorheeslookingouttothelake,relievedthatshesurvivedandbendyandcreditsrolling.Buttogiveviewersonefinaljumpscare,anewendingwasconceivedwherethepresumeddeadjasonseeksrevengeonhismothersdeathandgrabsAlicewithTomSavAmericaninicreatingahalffacialprostheticforactorAriLemontowear.AsthedisfigureddecomposingJasonJason.Notonlywoulditbecomeaninfamoustwistending,therewasnoboyinthelakequestionmark,butitwouldalsoleadtoJasonbecomingthestarofthesequels.Somethingthatwouldn'tJasonhavebeenpossiblewithouttheidea.Andthere'sreallynoidealtimetoseguefromaslasherhorrorintotheobligatoryKeanureference.ButthisiskindoftheonlyrealopportunityIhavetodoit.Soit'stimefortheobligatoryKeanureferenceandthisisReeves.AndthiswasreallytoughbecauseKeanuReevesdoesn'treallystartinslashers.He'snotreallyahorrorkindofguyandit'sverytenuous.ButaboutayearagohisbandDogstar,whichhashimonbass,coveredasongoriginallybythecureduringasoundcheckinSacramento.ThesongwasFridayI'minlove.NowIknowit'snotFridaythe13th,butyoucouldbeinloveonFridaythe13th.Mightbeunluckyinlov
